A beautiful square albeit not the most scintillating UNESCO site. Interesting history to read about and nice art museum right there.

Place Stanislas is impressive, royal, clean and friendly. It has an Austrian atmosphere with big light-colored houses in style surrounding it. Absolutely worthwhile to visit and discover other historic sceneries around Nancy

An unexpected gem. Stanislas Square is beautiful, and even better at dusk or in the dark. Lots of restaurants and bars to sit down and savour the atmosphere.

Its the most beautiful square both during day and night. It looks like some royal square. During St Nikolas Day, there are light shows and beautiful decorations. This is the best time to visit to witness these beautiful decorations here.

Beautiful square. It is very clean and well taken care of. It looks like it was build just yesterday, but it is there since more then 100 years. It has beautiful lighting at night. This summer there where beautiful lightshows on the buildings.

Check out the summer night time light show! Place Stanislas continues to be a beautiful sight to see and have a coffee, lunch, or dinner in the square. But now after dark enjoy a laser light show across the buildings. Grab an ice cream before or after the show.

This is definitely a must go if you are in Nancy. It is just beautiful with the old town buildings and since it's the centre of the old town, there is a 15 minute long light show every night at 10PM.

Stanislas has a significant importance in Nancy. It was classified as the favourite monument for France in 2021 and I will tell you why from my perspective: it is historical , big that it can host a parade in december, light show in Summer and winter, 'jardin éphèmere in October' and so much more events. There are restaurants/coffes/ museums/opera around this place. You can enjoy ice cream and delicious food or just sit in the chairs for people who came to admire the place/sun or lights. In special occasions, the lights of the buildings around Stanislas change like 'pink october, ..etc'. You can also visit 'hotel de ville' and enjoy the view from above.

Famous square surrounded by beautiful buildings and four golden gates. Don't forget to have some pastis on one of the terraces and to walk through the park that can be through the gate next to restaurant Michelangelo.

Beautiful example of a large European town square. It's so grand and decorative. There are a lot of cafes and restaurants in the square which created a great atmosphere. We sat in the middle of the square in the mid afternoon and enjoyed the sun and the buzz of all of the people running around, eating and talking. I especially loved the grand, curved, fences at each of the corners. Painted opulently in black and gold.

If you're in Nancy, you have to come here. It is the centre of the old town, surrounded by centuries of history, great, very well-maintained buildings and part of the historic route. The gleaming golden portals leading in all directions give it a special flair.

Loved the vibe! The great square, the gorgeous gate, cafes and people watching. Every street leading to the square has plenty of restaurant choices and interesting shops. It's a nice area to walk as well as through the park.

Place Stanislas is the major landmark of Nancy and one of the most beautiful squares in France, if not even all of Europe. There is no charge to enter the square and it is lovely to stroll. Many cafés and tourist shops can be found here. A visit should take at least 20 to 30minutes and you can easily spend more time exploring the area around. It is a major tourist attraction in Eastern France and UNESCO world heritage site.

A majestic Place in the charming Nancy. You can revive the ostentatious that marked the French monarchy and have a glimpse of their peak. Get the tour train from there for having a nice and informative trip to the most famous spots in town.

Huge park and great ambiance. Situated just beside city centre and good for sports, gatherings etc. We have been to this park few times during our visit to Nancy and enjoyed a lot

Commonly known as The Nursery as it's English translation or colloquially as The Pep, this is almost 22 hectares of park and garden inside a green space of over fifteen hundred hectares. Named as the nursery as Stanislas Leszczyński, former king of Poland, used this space as trees nursery to be planted along Nancy's streets. It's supposedly designed in a checkerboard style (perhaps better observed from above or when the leaves are growing in summer to appreciate the perpendicular shape). It's well laid out near Stanislas Square and alongside Place de la Carrière, with rose gardens, playground and carousel for kids, sporting spaces, puppets theatre, an art deco garden theatre, a music kiosk and so much more. Accessible to everyone and it's wheelchair friendly. Great for family outings or just a stroll and soak up the atmosphere.

Large city park that is well maintained. There are a lot of places to sit and take a break from the city. We enjoyed some cakes from a local bakery while sitting by the fountains. It was a nice experience.

Located in the centre of Nancy next to Place Stanislas, the Pépinière park is a wonderful green place for families and couples. It has a rose garden, a mini zoo where peacocks freely wander around, a great playground, sports field, merry-go-round and children's rides. It also has a small cafe and ice cream stand. There are many floral displays, also wooden architecture exhibitions and beautiful paths with ancient and exotic trees for a stroll. Magnificent and calming place.!

Oh yes…everyone will find something for himself at this place! Such a lovely park with all needed. The vibe is great. Don’t miss it out, you’ll fall in love 🥰

Beautiful park to enjoy with the whole family. Nice pathways with playgrounds, fountains, rose garden and a small zoo.

Great park! A lot of things to do there , everything is beautiful. There are sport zone , zoo!!, zones for dogs ,but not that a lot . But you can just walking around all territory with dog. !! Caution, park may be closed due to the weather . For example,just before rain starts it may start closing. But I adore this park and I find it really nice!!!

Major figures included the furniture designer Louis Majorelle, ebonist and glass artist Jacques Grüber, the glass and furniture designer Émile Gallé, and the crystal manufactory of Daum. Their work was largely inspired by floral and vegetal forms found in the region. The goal of the group was to produce in series ordinary objects, such as furniture, glassware, and pottery, with fine craftsmanship and in original forms, making art objects available for people's homes” from wikipedia

What a wonderful museum. Must visit for art nouveau lovers.

Museum is nice, but yard is magnificent. So lovely, warm and soulful. Perfect place to walk or to just sit in one of nice chairs, enjoy nature or meditate upon something. Absolutely recommend spending some time here if you are at Nancy. In one of the pictures I found some woman who looked like Vladimir Putin:) Only negative thing was that I could not use the app, because numbers I entered did not correspond to anything. But maybe it is just me.

The displays were interesting but all of the information was in French. Nothing was offered in English unlike the excellent Villa Majorelle. The combined ticket for these two museums was 9€. The ticket seller here made a reservation for us at Villa Majorelle. The gardens were very pleasant on a warm day.

A lovely little museum with a very rich collection of art-nouveau furniture and vases. You can also buy a combined ticket to visit both the museum and Villa Majorelle. In the garden, there is an outdoor café (at least in the summer) where people can have some rest and have a drink after visiting the museum.

What an amazing museum, a must visit for anyone who can appreciate design, architecture and craftsmanship. A real gem that is located on the outer suburbs of the city this museum is an amazing collection of Art Nuevo interiors, furniture and ceramics. Spear over two floors there is a lot to see, a free app allows you to either have the displays described to you with history behind the making and collection of pieces. Alternatively you can also read from the screen of the phone. It’s worth taking headphones if you can to listen to the audio guide. Overall entry was cheap and the museum wasn’t very busy so we could see all the interiors and furniture uninterrupted (We visited at the end of April).

This is a really rare gem in Nancy when it comes to Art Nouveau! I really read up it's history before I visited and its absolutely worth it. It's not too far from the city centre and Nancy railway station. You can get information about transportation to the museum from the tourism office. It started in 1964 and house in a former private château by the famous glassmaker, Émile Gallé. It's surrounded by a beautiful garden with an aquarium pavilion and a funeral monument in art nouveaux style. The main building has two sections of which one was built in late 1800s and the other in 1912 by architect, Lucien Weißenburger. Inside is just breathtaking and it doesn't follow a certain order but rather grouped in a way to reflect how art nouveaux style fits into the everyday. From stunning vases and glass bowls by Émile Gallé to spectacular lamps by Louis Majorelle (of the Daum factory displaying in Nancy Musée des Beaux-Arts) and bedroom and dining room furnishings! There's two levels of absolutely exquisite collections from leadlight glassware to furnitures and more. There's no lift access to the second level but it's wheelchair friendly entrance and the first floor exhibition and the garden. I left absolutely inspired and impressed with this art form of what's rarely known as modern style noodle style that draws on the aesthetic of curved lines! As a reaction against excessive industrialization and heavily reproduced old style arts, art nouveau sets remarkable new waves of aesthetic beauty in artform. I highly recommend visiting this gem of a museum and really appreciate this art movement of art nouveaux in the city that started it all, Nancy. It costs a mere €6.00 and absolutely worth it and suitable for all ages.

Really impressive museum with a lot of amazing pieces and an incredible vase collection. Was a lot of fun to visit. Prices were (as of July 2023) Free for students or till age 26. From 27 it costs 10 euros a person.

Two stars for the works of art however three less for unprofessional staff. Today I witnessed a man touch a painting with his finger on the second floor and when I reported it to staff in the lobby I was verbally accosted and threatened by security staff. What an odd snd unjust reaction! One short man lounging on the side came an inch from and angrily barked: “you’re telling me I’m now doing my job?!!” Huh? What? What is this strange man on about? The other staff (two women and a older skinny man) said nothing while this little hot head escalated things. And then came the act of class and professionalism from other security staff: two Old men came and jumped to conclusions and verbally assaulted me. The larger of the two bumped into me and told me To get out. The ignorance and lack of professionalism from staff here is palpable. I suppose it must be extremely difficult to find professionally trained security staff in France that one must hire from the bottom of barrel. This is a ticking time bomb , especially if management wants to ensure guests feel safe and works of art are secured! Will someone get shot by security for reporting a fire?

Variety is the spice of life and so is this museum. For every style of art there is a painting or object in this museum. The art ranges from the European middle ages through to the modern era, with an Asian art section and a Jewish art section. What I found exciting is the layout of the floors. It isn't just square rooms with art on the walls... It has nooks and crannies that entice you to explore the whole building. This gives the visitor some unexpected suprises in discovering new, unexpected spaces and art. In the basement is an ancient wall that was found through archaeological digs, with a huge Daum, art nouveau glass and art deco glass vases up through until modern times. It was a pleasure for the eyes as the collection is colorful and quite extensive. Throughout the building there are some English translations about, art but it is limited. I would suggest using a Google Lens with translation feature if you aren't fluent in reading French. There is also a museum app that is used for an audiotour, but i didn't use it. Highly recommended if visiting Nancy.

Love the artwork! So many beautiful paintings however the staff here were so rude, lazy and unprofessional! I saw security staff checking their phones rather than doing their job and when my friend reported someone touching a painting security staff attacked him instead of doing anything about the problem! Wow! This gives a very poor impression and a very poor experience to us visitors!

A very descent collection for a local art museum. There are definitely some problems with the lightning as sometimes I needed time to find a good spot to see all the details without reflects. Anyway, if you want a quiet hour for inspiration without being overwhelmed, that’s the place to be in Nancy. Also there is a painting by Lucian Freud!

Loved the museum. It got better the further in we went, in my opinion. The beginning hosts many old, religion inspired, pieces which I always find impressive but overwhelmingly nonsensical and rather boring. More modern art can be found on the lower floors and in the basement area. Entry is free under 27 years old and costs 10€ for anyone older.

We were fortunate enough to visit on a Sunday where the entrance was free. We really enjoyed looking at the art, from the more modern to medieval style. The room with all the mirrors and lighter was mesmerizing!

The Musée contains a good collection of art from the middle ages to contemporary. There is a good section on Daum glassware in the basement which I suspect you wouldn't find else where. The collection turned out larger than I had expected so give yourself some time and maybe do some research first!

Lot of great art pieces, whose all got the attention they need. Downside, much arts from the 17th century instead of from different time periods. The historical touch in the basement is a good addition. I would recommend this place.

Nice small museum, cause about 20-30 fish tanks with generally smaller fish but still nice. The entrance is free if you’re under 26 and the 2nd floor has taxidermy of all sorts of animals you spend about 1 hr or so

Very interactive, nice exhibits. There were a lot of very comfy couches so if taking a lot of breaks is your thing, I'd definitely recommend!

Very nice place for children but even for adult to see the different animals. There is an acquarium also. Very nice and you can buy a nice poster and holdkeys.

If you're in Nancy and want to go see something, especially with kids, come here and spend a very exciting hour. Ground floor are the live fish in the aquariums, first floor are stuffed animals and fossils. You can absolutely learn a lot in quite a short time. Most information is available in English and German, in addition to French of course.

Not a huge aquarium (downstairs) and museum (upstairs) but interesting and well-managed and kids-friendly. The aquarium isn't too big but it has lots of different fish to look at.Upstairs it has a museum with different animals(the animals are not alive)and descriptions of the animal.The gift shop doesn't have many options,mostly books and pencils with animal toppers.

It was fun! Not huge, but big enough. Besides the sea-life, there is also a nice exposition of animals and some interactive things for the kids. Especially compared to the (low) price you pay, can definitely recommend a visit!

Fantastic cross between animals that you can see in the aquarium and the taxidermy upstairs. They change their exhibitions regularly as well. Fantastic members of staff who are willing to help you and explain different parts of the museum. I took 2 groups of school children which was free and my family and each visit was very good.

Old port in 14-15 century

The only beautiful things in Nancy are Stanislas square and Pepiniere park.. that’s it. Don’t spend more than 1-2 days there. That’s enough. City hall is a nice part of the square!

Nancy’s place Stanislas is an impressive open space, quiet during the day but humming with life in the evenings. Gorgeous architecture all around the square with the imposing hotel de ville taking up one entire side of the square. Worth a visit

A part from Stanislas square this city is UGLY and badly planned and needs major redesign and urban planning! Almost no green spaces, trees etc the museum is really nice however staff there are rude and incompetent- poor leadership as usual !

When visited Place Stanislas, the city hall dominates the southern side of this square. As part of the quadrilateral that makes up Stanislas square, it's the tallest building which is covering Place Stanislas, rue Pierre Fourier, Rue des Dominicains and Rue du Préfet Claude Erignac. It measures at ninety eight metres in length. One impressive building with the side facing the Stanislas square is absolutely magnificent with decorative pediments and a clock framed by two allegory statues of Prudence and Justice. The rear of the building is sober but remarkable with lancet windows. This building has been the city hall ever since it was built. One of the reasons I visited Stanislas square is to also explore this classified French historic monument and all its splendour.

Always want to visit this place when I visit Nancy.

The Basilica of Saint Epvre in Nancy is a majestic church with stunning architecture. Inside, you'll find a peaceful atmosphere perfect for reflection and prayer. Its historical significance and intricate design make it a must-visit attraction in Nancy.

What a beautiful structure. I am not sure if it was open, couldn't see anyone going in or coming out. But the structure is very nice. Gives a hint of La Sagrada in Barcelona, even though that is much bigger in size.

Beautiful cathedral and worth a visit.

The basilica is located in the heart of Nancy, nestled in the beautiful old town. Unfortunately, it was closed when we were there, so we couldn't see anything inside. But the surrounding area also invites you to linger, with its nice restaurants and cafés. We parked here and explored the city on foot. If we come to Nancy again, we would like to see the inside.

Couldn't not get inside. Door was locked, quite unusual for a church. I was disappointed.

Small gem. Yes, it doesn’t compare to larger one at nearby Strasbourg. But the entire interior perimeter is covered with stained glass windows. The subjects are more medieval in setting rather than ancient biblical but that doesn’t make the windows any less amazing. Free entry, recommended to spend 1/2 hour here.

Looks beautiful from the outside, wasn't able to get in unfortunately (was there outside opening hours). You could have a drink on the opposite terrace and gaze at the details ;-)

Really grand looking church. The weather was intermittent when I visited so I unfortunately didn't get to see the sun illuminating the hall through the stained glass. Nevertheless you could see how much work went into the over one hundred different windows. Would like to visit again one day

A very nice place but I am surprised that it is World Heritage listed by UNESCO.

Very animated in Christmas with christmas shops and cafés and a huge ferris wheel with a view on practically the whole city. A lot of events take place in it too throughout the year like the pride, music festivals, Nancy's book festival and others.

It wasn't as grand as I thought it would be, we also couldn't go inside which was disappointing. I'm sure it would look better during the evening when illuminated (or in the summer when the garden looked more lush) but it wasn't up to the standard of some of the other things to see in the local area.

It's not just beautiful, it's art combining with historical architecture. The statues are fascinating and precisely accurate. And the way authorities and people treating it, is interesting.

It's a beautiful square separated by the stunning Arc Héré and Rue Héré from the spectacular Stanislas square. It was so named as it was historically a place to have one makes a career from chivalrous exercises, tournament, etc. This sixteenth century urban square is framed by the the gorgeous Government palace and the Parc de la Pépinière to the right of this square. Also important places here are the Place d'Alliance with the fountain by Paul Louis Cyfflé, the old Merchants Exchange building, the Hôtel de Morvilliers, the Héré pavilion and the Beauvau Caron Hôtel (A private mansion). It's a widely used square especially in the summer months for all kinds of public events and especially during the festive season when it's used as a Christmas market.

For the sake of god, please put out signs that show interested tourists that the museum is closed. And please adjust the opening hours here. It's a disgrace for any museum to let potential visitors not know that you are closed. I'm really disappointed.

Beautiful edifice but IT IS CLOSED INDEFINITELY FOR RESTORATION. I have updated the opening hours multiple times but for some reason they still reappear as if the place was open... Palace is NOT OPEN.

The museum was partly closed. However the refugee exhibition of the area was excellently made,the exhibits well displayed and the browse interesting.

This villa is a beautiful piece of art, inside and outside. There were a lot of reconstruction works to make it possible for us to visit it these days! I hope, after some time there will be more rooms accessible for visitors, because currently the visit is too short. On any case, this place is unique and beautiful

Magic place in level with the houses by Gaudi in Barcelona. Definitely must see in Nancy. The house was recently restored. If you travel individually, the opening hours are from 14:00 - 18:00.

It is really beautiful place. You need to wear some protection on your shoes, so it becomes a bit more sleepery. For old folks not ideal. There are also a lot of people reminding you not to touch. There were very friendly, I just think it is funny, cause they were literally almost in every room. This place made me very happy. It was just beautiful. You can buy a ticket as a bundle with a museum and you have to choose an hour of the visit (it has lunch break)

This is definitely where you should visit in Nancy!! Even you don't like museum like my friend, you could enjoy this visiting. Unfortunately, the renovation on 3rd floor didn't finish yet, but i will come back here with my pleasure ☺️

Nice example of French art nouveau architecture!

The Villa Majorelle was a wonderful introduction to the world of Art Nouveau. Reservations are required for an allotted time, you are given a guide booklet to explain the various rooms and the beginning of the Art Nouveau movement. A combination ticket for Villa Majorelle and Musee de l'Ecole de Nancy was 9€.

Beautiful and charming architecture, which is still very well preserved. Visit doesn’t take too long but worth it!

I LOVE a bookstore, especially on a quiet Sunday afternoon. Spent this one with my daughter in the adolescent section, where there was music playing that I remember from my younger years. This is a great shop and a hallmark of Nancy. I bought my daughter a novel, and I picked up a New York Times for the crossword, and I bought a few postcards to send to my girls across the pond. Be nice to the workers. They're putting their lives on the line so we can continue reading to escape the horrors around us. AND THEY WORK ON SUNDAYS. Not all heroes wear capes.

I do really like this place, the decoration and the location are really nice, too much book choices and perfectly categorized in different sections. There is a section for kids books and gifts for different ages. Many nice little gifts and agendas. I totally recommend

The most famous library, you could find magazines, journals, newspapers, books (all classifications), toys and some others. It's the main option to take if you love to read. Also, you can find some books, magazines and journals in Spanish, Italian, German, etcetera.

This is one mighty place to visit as it's a tour-de-force of both architectural design, historical significance and a royal tomb and cenotaphs of all the dukes of Lorraine, ancestors of the Habsburg-Lorraine family except for François Etienne de Lorraine (was Emperor of the Holy Empire) who is buried in the Habsburg necropolis in Vienna, Austria. Right next door to the palace of the Dukes of Lorraine, with its chapel of the former convent contains the royal tombs. The exterior is sober in design of Gothic and Renaissance style and inside is made up of one long nave with collateral chapels housing several funeral urns of certain dukes of Lorraine. There's so much to explore here, from the ceiling frescoes to the altarpiece, and most impressive of all for me is the Notre Dame de Lorette chapel which is the funeral chapel of the Dukes of Lorraine. It was quite and peaceful. We spent some time enjoying the ambiance and browsing the beauty of it's architecture, paintings and the details. It was a very pleasing experience.
