Avignonesi makes really great wine and their wines are so popular that can be found in many of the bottle shops. My wife and I have joined the wine tasting tour and amazed by their professional and serious wine making process. Their Vin Santo are outstanding and must buy! Personally like the 50/50 which has more complex nose and plate. Yet, agree with all previous comment that it's relatively expensive comparing to other wineries. But it's understandable with its popularity.

Absolutelly recommended. Very nice winery. Selection of typical vino mobile but also modern IGT creations. New even a Rosé. Lovely terrace and spacious tasting room / shop. We took a wine flight with 7 wines for 28 EUR, introduced by a very friendly, helpful team member of Avignonesi. Tip: try the Vino Santi, it's just awesome. Also the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is very good.

Carolina was a really good tour guide with amazing English and the tour started promptly. Place is beautiful. However, 45 euros for the tour I think it’s a bit too much. The wines we tasted were good but nothing out of the ordinary (but I’m not a wine expert). You had to pay 10 euros to try the vin santo. Overall I think we paid too much for what we got - but again, I’m not a wine expert so take my review with caution.

I visited recently with my family and it was such a memorable experience. Beautiful and the friendly staff spoke great English. The food was so fresh, and paired with wonderful wines. The tour guide walked us thru the Avignonesi approach to winemaking.. i love the single vineyards project, and they’re now a B corp.. they’re walking the talk!! Shipped home wine and more. Thoroughly recommend!!!

This tour was absolutely fantastic. We went to this winery via the Keys of Italy tour group (which was also fantastic). Erica or Erika, not sure on the spelling, was our guide and she made this a wonderful afternoon. She was extremely informative and very relatable. We were able to taste 8 different wines spanning over almost a decade. Additionally, we were given a SPREAD of meats, cheeses, and truffle chips to enjoy with the wine. This is easily the best wine tour I’ve ever had anywhere.

Cantina Ercolani - Città Sotterranea & Museo is the showcase of the Ercolani Family Winery and their subterranean aging cellars. Their main production is Vino Nobile di Montepulciano and Brunello di Montalcino. I visited in March 2024 and while there learned about their wine production methodology and philosophy. I appreciated they do not use distributors and operate by direct sales only. We received an extensive tour of the subterranean aging cellars which were once the hideouts and escape routes of the Medici’s. In the cellars, we received a private tasting of their typical and reserve wines and had a Tuscan delicious lunch. I was so impressed I bought two cases of wine which the staff arranged for free of charge shipping to my residence in the USA! The Ercolani Family won a new customer as I will certainly call upon them again to restock my cellars in the future.

My husband and I visited this winery back in June on a day trip from Florence. This was one of our top places and a anniversary present to ourselves while in Italy. Erica was amazing throughout the whole tour of the underground cellar, tasting, and her love of sharing the best wine in Italy. She took her time with us and one other couple in our group for the day. She explained all the details with the wine and snacks provided for us. Our wine was delivered in mid July and we could not wait to share some tasting with friends with the wine we got in Italy. As a travel agent, I will be telling clients to stop here along with visiting the village. I wish I had more time visit the storefront/village but we had such a wonderful time with tasting in the cellar and laughing…. Our time got away from us. It was a top notch and money well spent on the tour and visiting the winery. I truly appreciate Erica and her insightful Information with wine region. Thank you!

A great place to visit. The tour in the cellars was very impressive, out guide Erica, told us a lot of interesting stories about the production process, the history of the place, always willing to answer never ending questions from the visitors. After the tour we were served twelve different wines and a number of various Tuscan snacks, such various types of cheese, olive oils, truffle paste etc. That was a great tasting experience. You can miss it when in Montepulciano. And shout out to Erica, the best guide in the Montepulciano cellars!

This is a very cool place to visit, shop and sample delicious wines. From the outside it looks like a regular old storefront however the inside opens out and down into a subterranean tunnel system. We had a great tour and tasting and picked up some wine, cheese, olive oil and spices. Worth a visit.

After our first winery, we were heading to another winery but realized it was too far. We met a tour guide who told us about Erolani and off we went. Our tour guide at the wine cellar in the awesome town of Montepulciano was Erika. What an amazing experience she provided for our group of 6. She was so knowledgeable, passionate, and lovely. After our tour deep down in the cellar and learning the history, we headed upstairs for the tasting. The wine was paired with truffle potato chips, cheeses, and meats and was so perfect. Our whole group loved the difference of going to the cellar in the town instead of the winery itself. Gave us two very different perspectives. If you are heading to Italy, do yourself a favor and go see Erika - she was awesome! Our wine is headed to South Carolina where we will reminisce about our time in Italy!

This was an amazing wine shop with a huge wine cellar that spanned the underground area of 7 noble houses and three streets. We were given a brief historical perspective by Nicolo Ercolani who was standing outside the shop. This young man actually belonged to one of the 7 noble families and is a present day wine maker of some really fine nobile Di Montepulciano. The actual tour of the wine cellars and the underground area was given by Sarah who was very detailed and shared a lot of great information about the wine and the historical background behind the underground spaces. This entire tour was free and was followed by a wonderful wine tasting. The food provided with the wine tasting, also absolutely free, was delicious especially the truffle chips. I highly recommend this wine shop and the tour. We bought several of the wines that we tasted.

We booked a small group wine tour and this was one of our stops. I highly recommend, this is such a cool place and a great place to taste and experience delicious local wine. Their Wine Cellar was a fun tour that was informative and unique. I enjoyed their wine and ordered a case to ship home. The expectation was set that this would take around a month to arrive and I am happy to say that I am 11 days out from this tour and my wine arrived today. Do not hesitate to visit this wonderful place and know that if you decide to ship some wine it will arrive timely and intact.

Wow the cellar tour was fantastic! We weren’t expecting for a free ride towards their underground ancient cellar. It was filled with so much of inquisitive artefacts across the centuries. Booked Viviana through StyleSeat but account was not used per stylist. She was very apologetic and tried to fit me in with someone else at the salon. I returned next day and had all over color, trim, and style with Denise. She was so sweet and great host. The salons itself is hidden but the inside is luxurious. Wash station has ambient lighting and blankets. Really satisfied with final results as well. Recommend and will definitely be back.

Awfully rude lady tried to publically humiliate me for tasting wine. Waited ages to try a wine I wanted to buy. Saw evidence of wine tasting so poured a little wine into a glass to try (by now 15 minutes waiting with family without so much of a buongiorno!). Well, that got her attention immediately and she shouted really loudly that it wasn’t a self service. Fair enough, I apologised emphatically and humbled/embarrassed, acknowledged I was mistaken. Yet she continued with her humiliation by asking me where I was from (Ireland I replied) and therefore I couldn’t possibly know anything about their particular wine. She was quite right. I don’t. Now I never will. But thanks to her I moved on to try some delicious wines at gattavecchi just off the main piazza. All delicious. I bought lots. Hosted by the lovely Lilian. Now we are hoping to ship to Ireland. I can’t recommend them enough! Hospitality and politeness goes a long way.

We came here today, three of us (me, my mum and my Nan). We enjoyed walking through the ancient cellars before stopping for a tasting. We honestly think their cheapest wine was so lovely so we bought three bottles of that, as well as the blue label and the fortified wine. Wow wow wow and they were so friendly. They offered my mum a seat as she is on crutches, and also my Nan too (who had already had a few wines at lunch😂). Friendly staff, they explained at the beginning that patrons were expected to buy a bottle.

Beautiful little winery near the main square in Montepulciano. We got to have a look around in the cellars, taste some wine, meet one of the owners and we met the winemaker, Adamo. Super nice people and Adamo gave us an autograph! The wine was great and we purchased a bottle to bring home.

Coming from Miami- we came across this historic winery in the heart of Montepulciano (open on Saturday and Sundays) and Wow were we blown away by its history and elegance in making great wines. We were warmly greeted by Ilaria and Adamo (latter being famous for being on Rick Steve tourist shows and tv as he has been with vineyard for over 50 years). They have a self guided walk through their impressive casks of wine and barrel after barrel stacked high in downtown Montepulciano (hard to believe a vineyard can have such a location and be so successful and age so many wines in the heart of the city- quite impressive). Adamo and Illaria Individually went through each and every single wind they produce with tasting and we were blown away by the elegance of this Vineyard. We ended up buying 12 bottles which could be shipped to the United States Miami at a fair rate And we decided that this was our absolute favorite Winery after doing a comprehensive tour of all of Chianti region and Tuscany now reaching our last stop in Montepulciano. What an amazing experience and a company that has such a passion for their wines you must visit here and see for yourself it’s a one-of-a-kind visit in the heart of the city Montepulciano. Before visiting see Adamo’s famous interviews with Rick Steve on youtube- he has a passion for this winery that i have never seen w any other.

The canteen is located in the heart of the town in a huge buildingon several floor where the barrels are kept on​ the top floor there is amazing views off the Trasimeno and Chiusi lake. ask to visit the canteen. they produce is excellent and they have several blend and "Nobile'.

You can only do wine tasting if you have the intention to buy something…(Yes you can have a paid glass of wine upstairs where you can sit down, but that is not “wine tasting” in our definition!) The lady who served us, was burned out and talked fastly, just to be over it as soon as possible. You cannot even sit down while tasting. Honestly we were also not impressed of their wines except the last one (Palazzo Contucci Vino Nobile di M. 2007) what we bought in the end, however it was the most expensive of course. We personally would rather pay for the tasting but then having nicer atmosphere with a kind and patient staff and not to be forced to buy something. That is our opinion and hopefully will be respected, because we saw that the owner said everyone who dared to criticize his cellar that they write “untrue thins”… sad attitude

Compared to many Duomos in Tuscany, this one was a bit disappointing. The altarpiece was gone. In its place went a canvas, possibly due to restoration work, on which you could see what it looked like. For me the best thing about this Duomo was the contrast, the outside and the inside

The church building, first erected as seat of a bishop of the diocese in the 4th century, has undergone major reconstructions over the centuries. The present church is the third structure built on the same site. The first cathedra was erected after the Edict of Milan in 313 and destroyed by an earthquake on 3 January 1117. It was rebuilt in Romanesque style: the appearance of that medieval church can be seen in the frescoes by Giusto de' Menabuoi in the adjoining baptistery. A beautiful church, very simplistic and even a bit dark, but the silence in there on busy weekdays during the tourist season is magical.

We went here as part of a large wine tour and did a wine and cheese tasting. To start off with, it’s one of the most unique wineries I’ve ever visited given it used to be a cavern. The wine was beautiful as well, we ended up buying a bottle. But the host of Talosa seemed annoyed, disinterested and perhaps even slightly rude. Left a sour taste in my mouth and stood in stark contrast to the warmth we experienced at other local wineries in the region.

Highly recommend stopping in for quality wind tasting and stepping down onto their wine cellar with huge barrels from their 2019, 2020 and 2021 vintages. Female staff personable, knowledge and fluent in multiple languages. Bought two bottles for road trip wine-one of my favorite Italian red wines. Plus their will ship the wine to your home address

The presentation included tips for folks who have never been in a wine tasting event, which in turn means the cantina management understands cultivating an audience and setting themselves apart by sharing their expertise with the group. The wine selection was very nice. The building is amazing! And the service is top notch. These are true wine makers who invest the time to help you understand the wine tasting ritual, from appropriate pairings to different ways to sip the wine to reveal its dimensions.

This was our first stop in Montepulciano and it did not disappoint. Luigi gave us a tour of the winery followed by a great tasting. He was great at explaining the wines while making it fun and relatable. The wine was excellent— purchased several bottles to take home. Overall great experience and unique setting.

Our visit to De' Ricci was nothing short of spectacular. Honestly, one of the highlights of our multi city road trip through Italy! We attended a tour through the amazing underground "cathedral" led by our tour guide Emilio. Here is someone who is truly passionate about both wine and history, painting a vivid picture of how the winery came about, and how it eventually changed hands when the founding family's bloodline died out. Emilio really made the place come to life and helped everyone in the group form a real connection with the winery! During the tasting we tried six of the wines which are part of their current lineup, all of which were excellent. After, Emilio let my wife and I try the chianti as well, which was incredible! We chatted with him and the owner (who was also great) for about 45 minutes. It was such a great experience, I'm so glad we booked this tour. I couldn't recommend it more! Pro tip: You cannot just walk in and take a tour. They must be scheduled in advance!

Fantastic experience! The cellar is marvelous and the guided tour was extremely well organized and interesting. I also appreciated a lot the wine tasting at the end. Each bottle is introduced with a comprehensive and clear description, so that tasting the different glasses becomes easier even if you are not a wine expert!

There are several wine tours and tasting to choose from. We felt that this one by far was an excellent experience that you can not take just any where but here. You tour incredible wine caves/rooms under the building and into the mountain. This history/story connects you. This is a family operation and we were honored to have met them.

This is one of the best wine tours I’ve had in Italy. It was the perfect length lasting about an hour. I did it in English and the man who lead it was awesome. Super friendly and super knowledgeable. The tasting was great you can choose different size tasting for different price I recommend trying the 6 because why not. The food was small and nothin crazy special but also they answered any questions while you tasted it was great. Also you can drive up to their place in the ZTL if you want to buy and not carry it to your car. They can call the police and tell them your plate and you are good to go. No issues. I would return in a heartbeat.

Impressive historic wine cellar, operating since the 16th century. Interesting story about the place and the wine production, which goes on till today. It’s absolutely rare to see a winery/cellar in the center of town. Book a tour and tasting well ahead. Three time slots available- 10:30, 12:30, 15:30. Choose 3 or 6 wine tasting at the end of the tour, which lasts about 20 minutes. Snacks provided with the wines. Great experience. Wonderful tour guide

An excellent experience through the ages of this multi century establishment. The tour of the cellar is very informative and interesting. The history of the Ricci family is quite remarkable, starting from the very peculiar beginning. The wine tasting at the end of the tour was well though out, allowing us the taste all the differences between the simplest wine and the more complex ones.

Interesting historical tour of one of the oldest Montepulciano wine dynasties. The caves were incredible and the history was hard to ignore. Would recommend the 3 wine tasting with the Nobile and two Super Tuscans to try.

We loved our tour and tasting at De’ Ricci with Ron! The tour through the cellar is mesmerizing and the storytelling makes it memorable. We learned so much about the history of winemaking, the De’ Ricci family, and their influence on the city of Montepulciano. It was so fun to finish the tour with a tasting. We had the choice to try 3 or 6 wines. We are happy that we chose 6! The staff was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate when we asked questions. A must do!

Excellent family owned winery and farm, everything is fresh, I was not disappointed at all, the sisters who run it are very welcoming and you feel how proud they are , the recipes I wish I could take home. I'll definitely visit again.

The experience for groups is amazing. They explain their history and everything connected to the fattoria Pulcino. The food was amazing. I really liked the seasonig. The vine is the best I have tried in this region. At the end you can buy a lot of homemade items in the store. A very solid five star experience.

If you visit this restaurant as part of the Tuscany tour, you will leave hungry as this is the only meal during a full day trip and the offerings leave more to be desired. Also, it is very charming, but I felt some things were overdone. For example, we were told how exclusive everything was and reserved and special, yet the tour is available multiple times a week via several different booking sites. I could even see the next dining room prepared for another group. The feeling of being "sold to," soiled the experience a bit for me. Also, everything sold in the store here is considerably more expensive than any of the other shops offering the same items. Again, the reason for the price difference was explained because of how "exclusive" everything was.

We went here on our tour through Tuscany. We met Angela and her younger sister. They are the daughters of the owner. Let me just say the tour in the cellar was brief but very informative. Then we guided upstairs to the main dining lounge and were treated to the best wine and food of my whole entire Italian trip. The first starter was like a broichetta but with beans, then there was soup, and the main dish was a homemade pasta dish that was to die for. Let me say we tried all sorts of wines throughout. Each wine was to be drunk with each individual dish. Then there was homemade cheese and a dessert as well. Please stop here you will not regret it

The food is mediocre and even the photos give a good hint about the quality of the cooking. I'd say that overall, the restaurant would worth at most 2 stars for the position and the looks, but I rated it only one bacause I just wanted to pull down a little bit the current 3.7 stars rating.

The Ercolani family's hospitality is simply superb. It was a privilege to share in the Pulcino story, see the rich collection and taste the most delicious wine and food. Well worth the visit and excellent value for money! Highly recommended.

A restaurant and vineyard we stopped at in our southern Tuscany tour. The family owners gave us a nice tour downstairs where they stored some of the wine barrels. She was very enthusiastic. We later made our way to the dining room where we had a three course dinner (cheese, meats, and pasta) paired with wine. We enjoyed it. Afterwards we had a complimentary sample of their limoncello. Probably one of the best we've had in Italy. Overall a nice experience.

Fattoria is an interesting place in itself. It has so much history that it makes it worth it to visit it if you're ever around Montepulciano. I throughly enjoyed our tour in the cellar. The owners were very accommodating, angela and her sister explained the history of the place and I liked that a lot! 💖 A little disclaimer: my review is purely based on my dining experience that was part of a tour. I cannot comment on whether the other menu staples are good. But the food experience was very mediocre. All the stuff we were served were just products that they sell in the souvenir store as a free taste so you can buy more before you go. There was a soup that was served that i only had a spoonful of as it was soggy and tasteless, i was left to keep adding condiments from the table to make the food taste a bit better. It honestly felt like a very cheap cafeteria experience in school. With the exception of the red wine, everything else was very subpar. I already had the impression that it would be considering they had tie-ups with tour companies as pit stops for lunch. I felt like they cut some corners to adapt to the budget of the tour inclusion One thing i also particularly find weird is that the store does not accept credit cards. I simply picked an olive oil and 2 pieces of pecorino cheese and I was surprised to be asked €75 euros for it! I was completely off guard, and considering it's a touristy place, i would have expected they accept card payments. In the end i was not even issued a receipt. I hope they improve their payment options, especially since their products are sold at a premium price Anyway, besides this, the place is absolutely beautiful. So it was a bit of an ok trade-off for the mediocre dining experience

The humble entrance to this family-owned farm hides an impressive facility both above and below ground. If you join one of the many tours bringing you to this place, you'll get to enjoy a short tour into an impressive underground cellar and eventually enjoy a meal in the restaurant. The restaurant is able to sit a large number of people and it helps that it has large windows opening up to unobstructed views of the beautiful surrounding Montepulciano area. The food was excellent. It's simplicity really allows the ingredients to shine, showcasing the local flavours across the drinks (wine mainly), produce, the cured meats, cheese, and the fresh local pasta, Pici. The restaurant itself has a shop front where you can purchase some of the food served though it can be quite pricey compared to other local shops.

A very good restaurant with an amazing view! We went to Montepulciano on a day-trip from Rome to taste wines and taste great food. We were not disappointed when we arrived for lunch in this restaurant. They produce their own wine and all the ingredients you will eat are coming from their farm. The restaurant is managed by two Italian sisters very knowledgeable about their work and they are happy to share stories about the cuisine, the region and the wine. The homemade cheese, soup and pasta were incredible. If you enjoyed the food and the wine, you can buy some of the products at the shop inside the restaurant.

The food is good, the wine is great. They say the food is made as it has been made for years and years and I must say it does taste like it, it's not the best nor the tastiest but it's what you would expect from a classical Italian meal. The bread was a bit stale and I felt the food was missing a bit of salt, other than that I was great. I would come eat here if I was around the area and wanted to know about some history and taste the local cuisine. I might go back if I'm ever around.

We really wanted to like this establishment for the location and the history, however it felt mostly like a tourist trap. We had lunch and a wine tasting here which was part of a tour. The food was average, almost tasteless and the main dish was a small pile of the most basic spaghetti. The wine tasting part was not informative, they tell you what your getting quickly at the beginning and then they start to come around and quickly splash your glass with the wine. The meal is basically small samples of what they sell in their store. Literally, they come around to each plate and give your a tiny spoon smudge of a sample for some of the items. The biggest surprise was their pricing in the store. We picked up a tiny jar of truffle honey which was packed with a sliver of truffle cheese. Since it was so small, I was looking at other small but chunkier pieces of cheese to purchase. Before we had truly decided, Angela one of the sisters, basically took the cheese out of my hand and started bagging it. Then hit us with a €70 total. These items were not worth that amount, you can find better and MUCH more reasonable pricing in other places, which is what we found later and regretted our purchase here. Because we were part of a tour, it was a bit of a trap. The upsell is insane. Fair warning, don't do what we did.

Incredibly hospitable! Wonderful cute families popped in, German, Polish, American, all sorts And all enjoyed the beautiful scenery the wonderful waiting staff and of course the appetizers and wine! They have an easy mailing system as well if you fall in love with the wine like we did. We were able to walk the coooool wine cellars.. can you say romantic! It started raining so we asked if we could stay under cover and might as well have another bottle of wine… kitchen was closed, dishes and tables were cleared and cleaned and the lady running the show said of course, popped a bottle and the short rain and the sip sip continued. Amazing unexpected experience.

Loved the atmosphere the wine and the accompanying explaining the owner gave us. Our time late in the afternoon during that magic hour was surely a highlight of our stay.

Four of us did a cooking class at the family run restaurant Gattavecchi in Montepulciano. It was fantastic. Delicious food. Great wine. Flexible menu for those who eat meat and those who do not. Lots of laughs.Very kind owners. Outstanding value.

Great wine (Nobile and Nobile Reserva) and a fantastic Pici with Wild boar. Been here a few times and the have always delivered.

Lunch here was one of our best meals in Tuscany. Fantastic view, incredibly tasty yet simple food, delicious wine (I got the tasting of Gatavecchi reds), and very friendly staff. Highly recommend!

An absolute must if you are looking to visit a winery whilst in Montepulciano. We booked a table for lunch and we were absolutely blown away. The food is locally sourced, the wine was exceptional and the atmosphere stunning. There was a live band playing throughout lunch which created the perfect experience. To top it off the owner, who was super friendly, welcomed us in for a wine tasting. I couldn't recommend this place highly enough. Book in advance if you can, we were lucky that there was availability due to the pandemic.

On our last day in Montepulciano, my best friend and I had lunch on the outdoor patio with a fabulous view over the nearby Tuscan countryside. The staff were super friendly and took great pride in their wines and the excellent food. We had the nobile wine tagliatelle with creamy mushroom sauce, the melanzane and pecorino roulade, fresh tasty mixed salad, roasted rosemary potatoes and bread. The white Vernaccia wine was sunshine in a glass. The dessert was a delicious hazelnut tiramisu and a sensational trio of biscotti to dip in the accompanying aged wine liquor. Heaven!

I went here to this winery first time many years ago with my father. Together we visited the winery several times more and I do remember this little trips from the camping near by as relaxed and pleasant. Do not know when I tried their wine the first time. Learned to appreciate it as one of the better ones from Tuscany. Rich, fruity and a beautiful deep red color. A few years ago I took my son the first time to Montepulciano and introduced him to the atmosphere and nice Tuscan views. No wine for him back then. Maybe if he had joined me this year (18 years old now) he would've tried to taste the wine with me. Maybe next year.

Great restaurant on the southern edge of town located in a former monastery. They serve all the local classics like 'pici' pasta with a variety of sauces to choose from and some great starters like the mixed 'bruschetta' plate (pictured). There's seating outside (reserve in advance) and lots of room in the cavernous refectory inside. Plenty of wine and a cave that can be visited. Enjoy the journey!

This place is amazing! The food was authentic and the wine tasting is a must!! We tried both wine tasting options with our dinner. The desert was great try the pecorino pudding and mascarpone pudding you will be wowed!! I also purchased 6 bottles from them and they gave me a great deal. If you have a little money to spend go with a few of the aged bottles it's well worth it if you know your wine. They also ship the wine too and trust me it's well worth it.

Montepulciano is a must see medieval little city when you are in the region of Tuscany! We visited the city in September 2021. All the historical buildings fit in the scenery, the are all exceptional and special. Don’t stay on the main roads, but go into the little alleys to enjoy the views and cozy little streets !

We had an amazing quick side trip in this town, and really enjoyed the wine tour in one of the shop.

Clean and beautiful place which welcomes everyone who comes here by foot, car or bike. You can even take a small sightseeing vehicle which guides you through the narrow streets.

It would be a crime to visit this lovely city and not climb to the top of the tower. Be forewarned that the stairs are almost ladder-like at some places. 5€ to the top.

We had just a great time at the winery. Miriam gave us a tour of her winery. She was a super host! It was very informative and very interactive. The wine was delicious! Would definitely recommend. It was one of the highlights of our trip.

A really great experience , we went for a tour of the vineyard and a wine tasting and it could not be better. The tour lady had a great carisma and gave us an amazing explanation of the vineyard family history and the way how they make the wine. We tasted few bottles with a little nibble and they were amazing. After we took a walk around the vineyard and we met Miriam’s husband which is one of the owner, really polite and smiling. Highly recommended.

We scheduled a wine tour and tasting and it was a wonderful experience. The guide was very professional and also welcoming and friendly. The winery is truly a special place and you can feel the care they put into their vineyards and wines. We loved the wine! We returned a few days later to add to our order and enjoyed meeting the owner. She was so welcoming and gave us some interesting ideas for places to explore on our vacation. We ordered the rosato, Chianti and Nobile, received them in a timely manner, and plan on ordering more.

Our group of 6 did the Valdipiatta Experience – The Appellations. It was fun and informative. Svetlana was a wonderful hostess. We were pleasantly surprised by the number of wines and the amounts that were provided. The wines were delicious. Highly recommend!

Best wine tasting we've been to from the whole region! Personal and knowledgeable tasting session with one of the owners, going over a variety of wines. He even gave us a tour of the cellar and the wine library! Great photo opportunity too of the vineyards with the backdrop of Montepulciano, it's a must!

My boyfriend and I absolutely loved our visit to Tenuta Valdipiatta! Of all the wineries he visited in Montepuliciano, this was our favorite. It was large enough to where they had a very professional system and set up, but it felt small, intimate, and family oriented which we loved! We were taken care of immediately when we arrived. We came early and were offered a complimentary glass of delicious wine (the best white wine I have ever had!) and we were allowed to explore the vineyard and even snack on grapes from the vine! The tour itself was informative and the tasting was so thought out. We ended up buying a case of wine, and it arrived once we returned home without any issue. The winery even emailed us to ensure it arrived undamaged. They truly value both customer experience and of course quality of wine. I could not recommend this winery enough!!!

Great experience! We learned a lot about the wine making process and enjoyed a large variety of amazing locally produced wines, discussing their differences and reasoning behind their production! The passion for wine making and the quality of Valdipiatta wines was visible during our visit and really made a difference! Highly recommended if you are in Montepulciano!

My wife and I visited here today and had an amazing wine tasting experience. We were greeted very warmly by the husband of the family that owns the vineyard, we were greeted so warmly even without a booking (apologies again!). I'm usually good with names, but I think we were that blown away by the welcoming hospitality and the amazing wine that names slipped from our minds. Thank you for your time this this afternoon, just hearing you speak about your wine I can feel your passion and enthusiasm for your products, and for good reason. Your wine is amazing. Definitely worth a visit if you are in town.

We had such a special experience here! Giuliano met us when we arrived (without a reservation) and graciously offered a tour and tasting right away. It was so interesting and enlightening. It's a gem and I would recommend it!

Beautiful experience. Svetlana gave us the tour - about 30 mins. Then we went back to the main house and tried 4 wines paired with local cheeses and olive oil. Learned SO much. And the wine was divine. Took a walk through their vineyards after. Stunning!!

Had a lovely experience here and wonderful tasting with Svetlana. Not all places are open or welcoming during the offseason, but Valdipiatta welcomed us with open arms. Definitely worth a stop!

Such an amazing experience. My husband and I went for a private barrel tasting for my birthday. Our guide was warm and inviting and you could tell that wine making was a passion for Tenuta Valdipiatta.

Great value for the price. We had a personalized and very informative tour with Shetland, who was wonderful. The wi es were excellent and the bread, oil, and ,eat and cheese plate to accompany the tasting were a very nice touch. At 32 Euros each, this was excellent value and we were spared the pretentiousness of some of the other wineries in the area.

Good visit and beautiful place, not sure if the wine is worth the high ticket they ask for it. Staff was simply amazing and very welcoming.

This place is fantastic. Fabio was super prompt, and responsive over email when booking a tasting. Everyone was kind and welcoming during our time there. Shoutout to Alessio who charmingly walked us through all the wines which were also delicious. Beautiful idyllic area out back with comfy seating and lovely views too. Highly recommend!

The tour experience was 5 stars. Gorgeous property, fun history, and very informative. The wine is good. Not the best I've had in the area, but good. Also, a good bit more expensive than a lot of the others. The Rosso is €10 a bottle, which is great, but shipping is an extra €70+ to the US for 6 bottles, over €100 for 12. That's the highest we have seen.

What a wonderful surprise! This winery was so gorgeous, but it was the tour and the wine tasting that was perfect. We came one afternoon and toured around with a total of 5 people and had the best guide, Loredana. Highly recommend this tour and this wine if you have a chance to buy it in the store in Montepulciano or elsewhere!

Had a delightful tasting here, best winery we visited in the region by far. Fabio gave us the warmest welcome, and tipped us off to the best restaurants to visit which became a grand tour of Montepulciano! Their Nobile di Montepulciano is outstanding.

I highly recommend to come here, it’s better to come with a reservation tho. Poliziano is well known around the area for their high quality wines. Make sure you get a few bottles to enjoy back home;-)

Beautiful property but the service could be improved. Both the staffs who served us were a bit tart and proud about their creations. We couldn’t get seated for the tasting since it was based on reservation. So we ended up picking a vintage to go. Such good potential and it’s a shame the service is not impressive.

Alessandro was the kindest, most authentic and lovely host we have yet to meet in Italy! He explained all the wines so well and we enjoyed all of them! The winery itself was beautiful and modern, with views out to the vineyard. All the wines were lovely and we struggled to decide which to buy! Thank you for a beautiful afternoon, one day we hope to come back!

Beautiful rest stop as you climb from the gate to the main square. Inside seems brand new which is surprising. Organ is behind the altar, which I have never seen before.

Church fully restored on XV century by Michelozzo di Bartolomeo. It holds a terracotta relief with Mother and saints John Baptist and Augustine and there many paints.

A smaller, yet charming family owned winery. We booked our tour via Whatsapp. Production at Poderi Boscarelli focuses primarily on Vino Nobile DOCG. The wine tour and tasting we booked was the "Comparative Tour" (€30/person) which we appreciated because you are able to do a side by side comparison of wine profiles. Our tour guide Alberto was very knowledgable about the process and answered every question we threw his way. Highly recommend adding to your list if you're traveling around Montepulciano!

I've had a wonderful tour yesterday. It is my first winery visit, so I don't have much to compare, but people were very friendly and competent, the amount of information is just right for a curious wine amateur, but I'm sure they will have something to talk about also with much more hardcore crowd. I was happy to take a few bottles with me and a nice magnum of Riserva for a special occasion. Unfortunately I'm pretty bad with names, so I don't remember the name of my guide. But he's on one of the pictures. Thank you very much for your hospitality!

Lovely family winery in the Montepulciano region. The tour was small, intimate of the vines, local climate and wine tasting! They ship internationally.

The first winery I visited in Italy. Good quality wine, very kind staff. They have winery tour in which you can know how their wine is made and how different their wine is from others. Of course, you can enjoy their good Montepulciano wine at the end of tour. Montepulciano is really good Italian red wine, so please try it.

Had an AMAZING time during our Boscarelli Experience tour. Get a nice tour of the property and insights into their process. Excellent selection of wines to taste (maybe 7?) paired with a loved cheese and meat plate with bruschetta and olive oil. We bought a case to ship home! 100% recommend.

This place was ok, our tour guide was charming and knowledgeable but we found the tour to be too long (slightly more than an hour) and the tasting to be a bit meager. Four wines and crackers. We tried Boscarelli’s young San Genovese, then a 2020 and a 2019, finally we finished with a blend that the guide referred to at a meditation wine. Overall, it was a no-frills introduction to the San Genovese grape, but seeing as we paid the same price at a different vineyard for to try eight different wines and a full cheese and meat platter I would be lying if I didn’t say we walked away a bit disappointed with the experience.

Beautiful winery (reminded me of California, with the great architecture and sculptures - but with better views! 🤩), with a detailed and well-priced tasting of 6 great wines. Loved the exploration of Super Tuscan vs Montepulciano DOCG, and walking through the beautiful tank room and barrel storage. Bottles are well-priced. Would recommend tasting here, 100%.

Unfortunately I couldn't taste the wine since I was driving. My wife was delighted with her time at this winery. My nose caught all the aromas and I was shocked by them and was already looking forward to the evening to try the wines. The staff is excellent and knows the answers to all questions. The reservation on the website did not work out, but everything was confirmed to us by email. I definitely recommend visiting.

We did the Platinum Wine Tour Experience and had an amazing time! The food was plenty, they gave us an extra basket of bread to have with their olive oil and it is honestly the best olive oil I have ever tasted! Because of the heatwave, they kept the tour short and sweet, and stopped only in the shade which we really appreciated. All of the wines tasted incredible, there was quite a variety of flavors and we will definitely be going home with a few bottles. We also accidentally backed our car into a ditch before arriving and the staff jumped into action, allowing us to start the wine tasting while they flawlessly moved our car to safety. What an incredible experience, we will definitely be coming back!

I was invited to the inauguration of a modern art exhibition. It was my first time at ICARIO and I found it a lovely place in the heart of Montepulciano. The winery is a beautiful modern construction, the landscape is Amazing and the personnel was very nice. I tried also the wines that are excellent! in general, I had a very nice experience that I recommend.

We took platinum tour and tasting and spent unforgettable afternoon. The tasting in this option is not recommendable if you drive, the measure is quite big. The cold cuts quality is very good. Eva was a very good host and we enjoyed the beautiful view on the terrace.

This winery was so hospitable and amazing. The lovely lady was gorgeous and very well spoken. Explained the wines with so much detail and very proud of how it was aged, the process and the taste of it. I would 10/10 recommend this place for any future travels! Would definitely be back 😊😊

Ricardo was a great host, dry sense of humour and made us all feel super welcome and relaxed. We got a short tour of the vineyard, fermentation process and barrelling. We got to taste 7 wines with a great selection of breads, meats and cheeses. All round a great experience and beautiful views of Tuscany.

Wonderful winery tasting and visit experience. The winery is in a contemporary and airy building, which is a nice contrast with the surrounding countryside. The tasting happened at a modern sleek terrace that reminds me of California wineries. We tasted 6 different wines and they are an interesting variety, especially the ones that you don't normally associate with Montepulciano DOCG (a sparkling rosé made with methode champenoise, a white blend including Riesling and gewurztraminer, and a very good trebbiano). The vino nobile itself is great too. Overall great experience.

Even though the website says reservations are only needed on weekends we went 10:40am Monday morning and we’re still unable to get a wine tasting. Very disappointed as there was barely anyone at the venue and we sat with a glass of wine outside and waited for over 1 hour although still werent able to fit us in. Very upset as this was one place I was really excited to visit in Tuscany. No love or passion for the wine or guests, I also overheard they give away free bottle of wine for Google reviews so the rating is very skewed. Pretty winery and the glass of wine I had was tasty though. If you plan on going here make sure you book as we walked from town which is a long walk too. :(
