Absolutely fantastic family day out. To find the place you have to go down some beautiful scenic roads and villages. The roads are very narrow in places, so I do suggest driving very steadily! When you enter the garden centre to part there is a huge car park and plenty of space including disabled parking. The entrance is very beautiful and has lots of plants and bushes as you enter the garden centre part first. You follow the path to the left, and you can either carry straight on, which is the historical gardens, which are so beautiful. The summer holidays have the garden centre hosting dinosaurs in the gardens! It's cheap to enter the gardens £1.95 for children and £2.25 for adults. See photos for a map of the gardens. So at the entrance, the other path, which is to the left, is towards the aquatic centre for pets foods and has pets to buy. This section you also have to pay to enter so £1.95 children and £2.25 for adults. You can also buy animal food at £1 to feed the farm animals. There is absolutely loads to do in this section! To petting animals and feeding them ( only the ones with the feed me sign) small tractor bumper cars, big tractors for them to sign on a full size tractor. There is also an event centre where you can book for parties but at the moment it is used for the dino fun activities of colouring and making dinosaurs. It also has some small lizards, toads, etc. in the event centre. There is a hand cleaning section and plenty of sanitiser stations throughout the areas. There is also a giant pirate ship in a huge sand area with water features and a play area that the children can enjoy for hours on end. This is definitely a place to visit with children or to buy some plants.

Calling this place a garden centre is really under selling itself. This place has a little something for the whole family. Yes there is a garden centre with a huge selection of plants, flowers and everything else you need for your garden. Then there are the individual gardens you can walk round and enjoy at a small cost (like £2 each) which has a maze kids will love. These gardens are stunning. You can sit down and relax and feel very calm and peaceful here. Then there is a small zoo, a decent size outdoor play area for the kids with an ice cream stall offering a great selection. Then there is the courtyard tucked away with a fantastic deli selling incredible drinks and cakes and light bites. There is also a dog cafe and a couple of proper restaurants. This is a very unique and special place and we'll worth a visit no matter your age. Adults and kids can all enjoy themselves here and everywhere is dog friendly also.

Lovely place. We went to the farm during the kids holidays as they had an Easter event on. Small and well kept, perfect for young kids. Small play area for younger children and regular animal handling sessions. Definitely worth a trip to entertain the kids for a couple of hours. We then went to the cafe for a hot chocolate and cake and it was delicious 😋

Beautiful walled garden, small but must see! A great garden centre with huge variety of well maintained plants and gardening tools, ornaments, pots and everything you need for your garden. Yummy cakes and meals at cafe and great place to buy gift for you or your loved ones. Lots of things to enjoy for all ages.

Lovely place to go, has everything, lovely gardens to walk around and beautiful plants for sale. Lots for kids to do and a little farmyard too. Cafe is really nice too and not to expensive. Beautiful homeward and gift shop, again not too expensive. A large car park but does get busy. Parking points for electric cars and disabled parking bays.

We have just enjoyed afternoon tea in the garden room which we had hired for exclusive use for the purpose of my daughter's baby shower. I have to say from the moment I arrived the staff were incredibly friendly, helpful and accommodating. The room was beautifully presented. We were able to decorate it ourselves too, which again the staff assisted us with. A special thank you to Jess for helping me bring all my items from the car and also to Alicia for her attentive yet unobtrusive help and quiet but efficient service, keeping me hydrated with endless cups of tea ! We all had a fabulous time. The tea itself was gorgeous and the setting was better than we had expected. The photos really don't do the place justice! Thank you. From a very grateful Mummy to be and Grandma to be ! 🩷

Quite large garden centre has agood stock of plants,shrubs and trees. Has quality fancy goods, large cafe,independant shops and a childrens farm and play area as well as a aquatic centre. Also has nice grounds you can walk round for a small fee. Think i overdid it with the photos 🤭

Plenty to do and see at Wentworth Garden Centre. Was originally part of Wentworth Woodhouse. Beautiful and attractive gardens with little winding paths with many a exotic plants to discover. Massive range of plants, shrubs, trees on sales. Not cheap but they are quality. There's a little farm area. Plenty of place to grab something to eat or drink. Well recommended place to visit for the family.

It's a really lovely place to visit, as well as eat! So relaxing in the gardens, listening to the variety of birds singing . There are so many varieties of wild flowers that it can be inquisitive as to what they are called. The maze is good fun for all, including dogs! In the cafe, they have a good variety of food to choose from. I had the asparagus/ham quiche, which was really great and such a good portion for a great price. Can't wait to come back and do it all properly.

What stunning gardens. Spring is in the air. The children were having such fun. We had a lovely treat at the walled garden coffee shop. A really stunning outing.

Glorious. So nice to visit an independent garden centre, we really enjoyed it. My kids and I easily could have spent a whole day here, exploring the playgrounds, farm/zoo animals, the historical gardens and pet/pond shop. My kids loved the sand/water playground. It was so lovely to see a lot of kids ditching their shoes and rolling their trousers up to play! Next time I’ll take a bigger picnic, sand toys and spare clothing. I took off one star because to access the family farm area and the sand/ water playground (which you need to buy tickets for) you have exit via the gift shop, and we all know how painful that can be with kids! Apart from that, it was great.

Lovely place to visit. Loads to do and see,great garden centre, brilliant diversity stocked shop, deli, restaurants, takeaway, animals, big children's play centre, and we didn't get to see all the gardens and walks

Set a beautiful area. We visited during late November and Christmas is already there! Very well organised. Downside many of the things are expensive. Worth a visit just for the atmosphere though. We also saw Santa walking around - how cool is that 🤶🎄❤️💚😊 big

This has to be the perfect destination for a plant mom like me. I always loved visiting here on weekends. I have lost count the number of plants I have bought from here. It’s a place where you could spend your whole day even without noticing the time as it passes. They have got brilliant varieties of both outdoor and indoor plants.

First time visiting and absolutely loved it. Garden centre is a bit of an understatement though! It's massive. You could spend a full day there. The plants are all quality and the lady that server us with the indoor plants was really helpful. The little farm is great too and trust me it's worth waiting in line for one of the sausage rolls at the caff they are hands down the best ones I've ever tasted. Cracking latte too

Amazing day out for little ones and big ones alike. Plenty to see and do with lots of opportunities for hands-on learning. The playground is also the best playground we've ever been to with plenty of things to do. The cafe was great and the staff super friendly. As per other reviews, I can see how toddlers and younger children may get scared in the Fire Level but it can be skipped.

Absolutely fantastic! So much interactive things to do. Took my 14 year old son today (and my 17 year old son also wanted to tag along) they both loved it so much. Highlight was the fire tornado tunnel. We loved how open and atmospheric everywhere was. Can't wait to go back!

We went to Magna on a home education day and they did a fantastic job. There was a space theme for the day which involved a very interesting talk about the constellations and planets (my son usually gets bored during these types of workshops but he loved this one!). There were demonstrations all through the site over the day which were well attended. Lots of interest facts and figures across the pavilions and lots of hands on activities, wheels to turn, buttons to press etc for everyone to have a go! I’d previously heard some very mixed reviews about magna, but most seem to stem from longer ago. We all loved it and would definitely go again! Athena water park understandably wasn’t open which disappointed my son a little but the park was open and there was lots to do on there for a range of ages! We didn’t eat at Magna but us adults did get drinks, usually priced but decent tasting. As I said, our experience was a very positive one and we would definitely go again!

Worth every penny. The atmosphere was great. Everyone loved it. The fancy dress was epic. Always better to buy tickets. But I must say I got so great pics before going in, as most came outside to entertain those stood about waiting to get in.

Visited the place recently. There are 4 pavilions Air, Water, Fire and Earth. We liked the Earth and Water pavilions. Kids had more fun in these two! Some of the interactive experiences were not working or were not in great condition. The place wasn't much crowded even on weekends. I felt the entry prices were slightly higher and the place probably requires some refurbishment.

Wow, what a day out! I have two boys (11 & 9 yo) who love science. They absolutely loved this place. It's massive and really dark inside but that didn't phase them. There are four distinct areas to explore, air, water, earth and fire. So much to see, and do. Lots of interesting interactive exhibits which actually do work. I really enjoyed the big melt exhibition which takes place on the hour 11-4(I think). There is also a huge play area outside with a splash park which was such a cool surprise (take a towel and swimmers). Will 100% be back here soon. Cafe is average. Not good, not bad. Ok if you are hungry.

Lots of interesting displays and activities for children, some floors were a little noisy for my child who has autism (mainly the main floor where you exit / fire floor) so take sensory ear defenders if you have them, unfortunately my child doesn't like them so didn't spend much time on this floor. Our favourite was the water floor, the staff are friendly and helpful, some displays need a little tlc but didn't spoil the experience for us. The adventure wasn't over when we came out, as there is a large, well maintained park and water area when you come out which is included in the price.

What an amazing visit we had today! My 5 year old loved it and actually chose the museum over the park! We were the first ones in and one of the last out. I expected it to be much busier with it being the school holidays but it was perfect! The rocket show was well worth the extra £1 each! Great day, thank you!

Incredible family day out. Every level has so many great interactive learning sections. Highlights were the big melt show, the fire tornado, water level and the interactive sand tables in the earth section. Excellent HUGE park outside too for tiring them out before the journey home. Great also for adults. Can't wait to go back and felt we learnt so much about the steel industry too.

Absolutely brilliant place if a little basic, some of the exhibits don’t work, but it’s an under funded charity in the north, and it’s doing its best. Staff are really helpful, cafe is good if not a bit basic, but it’s a cheap, fun and educational day out in a fabulous behemoth structure, which was once a shining jewel in the insustrial crown of Great Britain. Well worth a visit!

Had a fab day. Really enjoyed the star and planet workshop very informative and exciting and really nice to see so many kids being involved to help the demo.. The chap did a great job.. The activities in each section are great for the kids and adults, brilliant to be apart of and staff are lovely... Also a very nice cafe and great to have a designated pack up lunch room. Xx thanks for a great day.. Also a great park outside to end the day with.

I'm glad we got to go included in our Christmas event I wouldn't have paid for it sadly as we were done the whole lot in an hour. But if your kids are the slow and steady kind might be more worth your while Kids loved some of the activities and things to do but there was alot of bits not working or out of commission. They especially enjoyed the elements bits.... Nice touches with the skeletons. The place has so much potential and have been to some amazing events hosted here but not been by Magna directly

An amazing birthday outing for grandsons 13,th birthday. What a brilliant place . Family visit with .children and grandchildren. Their interest, enthusiasm and excitement throughout the visit was great. What a unique, hands on place making learning fun. And the atmosphere and history added to the experience. Loved the massive outside play are , , had to leave after 5 hours but could have stopped longer. Staff were friendly and helpful as well.Thank you for a great day

I had heard good things and it lived up to my expectations. A friend and I took my 2.5 year old and she really enjoyed it. I expect older kids would get even more out of it. I'd essentially describe this place as taking only the fun interactive parts of the Science Museum, multiplying the number of them, and housing it in a giant warehouse. The building alone is impressive to be in. I enjoyed it as much as my daughter. We ran out of time and didn't even make it to the outside playground and Aquatek. It's great value because your tickets last a year (you just need to fill in a form). Food from the cafe was average standard for tourist attractions.

Loved it! Best thing you can go multiple times with one time ticket. My daughters 3 & 6 found the fire section a bit spooky especially the big melt as it was very dark and the noises were loud for them, but apart from that they were super excited. They had so much fun in the water park and sand bit I will give it a 4 star because the cafe closes it’s hot food at 3pm. :/

It was an absolutely amazing experience that kept my children engaged and occupied. They thoroughly enjoyed the different elements as they were very interactive and child friendly. The outdoor play area is enormous and full of different play equipment for children of all ages, all in excellent condition and well maintained. The biggest playground I have ever seen, and the kids refused to leave because they loved it. They have an outdoor water play area. On a hot day, this would have been amazing, but due to the weather, we didn't access it even though it was still open. Make sure you have plenty of snacks, food, and spare clothes for water play because you can make a day out of it.

Fantastic day out with my 5 year old, 4 different zones to be explored which have been developed in different areas of the massive old steelworks. Lots of hands on activities and an incredible building, staff were really friendly and helpful. Take a coat/warm things, and a towel as the inside water play area is brilliant.

I wasn’t sure what to expect of this science museum, but absolutely loved it. We were visiting with a baby, 3 children and 3 adults and there was something for everyone to do (even a soft play area for under 5s). We arrived at 10:30 and were occupied until the centre closed at 4 - the children were sad to leave! Book tickets online for a slightly better price.

Visited on a rainy, cold Sunday afternoon, was not expecting it to be even colder in there - something to keep in mind if visiting with kids. Despite the cold, we have thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The interactive things were really interesting and awesome. My daughter (5 years old) loved it and kept her occupied for a while. It was really interesting to see all different elements on different floors and different activities. (Fire floor is loud and scared the little ones a bit tho). We've spent over 2 hours and didn't even check all the interactive things since my daughter wasn't interested in some of them. The café was lovely, nice atmosphere, lovely staff and variety of food and drinks. As well as a gift shop with science related books and activities to take home. Overall, we have enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it to anyone. Great day spent learning in a fun way. We will definitely return, probably in summertime as they also have a massive water play area outside which looked really fun!

An absolutely fantastic day out with countless exciting, hands-on learning opportunities for adults and children. The staff were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The café was reasonably priced and served excellent coffee. A lot of effort and attention to detail had clearly gone into organising today’s home education day. We will definitely return. We had a really good day with our 2 and 5 year old daughters. The rocket show was really fun and educational for the girls. The play area outside was fantastic and we spent ages there after we'd been inside and had lunch. The only downsides we encountered today were that some things didn't work, which was disappointing, but mainly, and quite worryingly, there was possibly a fire and we all got evacuated. Not once did a fire alarm go off. We only ended up outside because another visitor told us why they were going outside when we were trying to get downstairs. Other than these things, the visit was a success and we will go again.

We came with our Grandchildren on Easter Sunday. They were initially scared with how dark it was but as they entered the different areas they started to enjoy it. We loved the water and air zones the best they spent ages playing with the boats in the water and we loved getting wet in the rain tunnel. The bit that disappointed was there were not enough boulders to play in the last section so quickly got bored with that but then enjoyed playing in the sand. The cafe did a decent menu and staff were fab when my grandson wanted a box for his hot meal as we didn't want him to have a sandwich as it was super cold in there that day. They enjoyed finding the easter eggs and was rewarded with a tiny egg at the end. Last of all we went outside to the play area and they spent absolutely ages out there and they thoroughly enjoyed it. We will come back in the summer to play in the outside area again

Easy to get to off the M1, free car parking and loads of spaces. The structure is of industrial proportions. Walking inside you have to step back to appreciate how big and industrial the place is. Lovely how they have a history section and objects you can touch. It is dark inside, however the place has random illuminating lights and plenty of search lights young and old can play with to explore the old steel factory. The place is clearly posted to different levels of activity - Air, Earth, Fire and Water. We watched the Big Melt show that's on the hour. Brilliant effects with flames and fireworks creating the blast furnace in action! Each zone has loads of activities, and interaction. The water zone was my kids fave! The canal, shower, tidal wave and water gun target shooting was fun! Very relaxing, not tripping over folk, kids played and learned alot, you can bring your own picnic and eat indoors - huge area of seating dominated by a vast multi coloured wall of bricks. I wish I knew this place existed before! Paid once and got annual entry which includes use of the large outdoor play area. Down the road there's the Riverside Pub, perfect for feeding the crew on way home too ha! Clean, friendly, and will look into the events they hold, kids are into science and experimenting, thank you, superb day out and opportunity to visit again!

We visited on good Friday and even thou there was alot of people at the entrance and in the food area once inside it didn't feel busy at all because everything is spaced out brilliantly. The size of the old steel works is unbelievable and very interesting. The kids absolutely loved the different element areas and there favourite was the fire tornado, the wind ring maker and the water area. The price is definitely worth it especially when you can get them cheaper buying in advance and take into account that it's an annual pass included. I would say the four elements area is definitely more aimed at children but adults enjoyed it aswell. We didn't use the playarea but it looked really good! Tons of free parking and so easy to find and only 2 minutes from meadowhall. Great day!

Went here for a Sports Cars and Classics in the park event and booked the house and garden tour @ £12 each. House is impressive from the front boasting the 2nd longest frontage in Europe. It is in the early days of renovation so the rooms you get to see are largely unfurnished and there are only a few rooms that you get to see. Having said that, it is definitely worth visiting if you are into historic houses. Gardens are expansive, with woodland areas and deck chairs dotted about for that all important rest. There is a large tea room with plenty of seating and standard pricing. If you want a treat you can have afternoon tea in a gorgeous room.

The house looks beautiful inside and out. Really friendly staff and a lovely cafe. Will definitely come again to look around the gardens.

Beautiful place to visit. When we visited, the house was decorated with beautiful Christmas trees and decorations. We paid to look around the house, which was a magical experience, each room came under the theme of Beauty and the Beast (A Tale as old as Time). The staff were great - friendly and helpful and told us so much about the history of the house. We ventured into the grounds and this was decorated with Christmas lights. Beautiful grounds and we look forward to returning when the rain disappears. We ate in the cafe and the food is exceptional. Absolutely delicious and definitely recommend eating here.

Interesting house although still quite a bit of restoration work to be done. Nice gardens and a nice café. If you still have time there is the large estate to explore. Parking is free whatever you do.

Garden was undergoing renovation and could have done with some alternative signage. There was very little seating around garden. More seats would help less able visitors to enjoy the gardens. We understand that the house is undergoing extensive renovation, but we felt that it was overpriced. The cafe was excellent and good value. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. We will visit again but will wait until more renovation has been completed.

Interesting House & Lovely Gardens This has to be the most impressive looking house I've ever visited, it is huge! Inside there are an array of rooms to visit. The rooms are empty and used to display art work. The art work wasn't the best but the rooms are fabulous spaces. These rooms are regularly used for filming movies and TV programmes, to help fund the restoration work. At the rear the gardens are very attractive, with a range of different areas including woodland, lawns and formal borders. The garden is the site of many restoration projects. The cafe was popular and the service good. A beautiful house and gardens to visit.

Huge magnificent edifice. Grand in scale and great views. The costume exhibition is fascinating. I liked the fact it is not overly restored.

We arrived very late in the day but the staff were lovely and were very helpful. Gift shop was really small and I feel like there could have been more signage. But wow, what a beautiful facade!

Absolutely stunning building which is inspiring. The guides around the house are very helpful and informative. The work done to restore the house is incredible. The gardens are also stunning with lots of different areas to investigate the children will love it as there is a woodland area with them specifically in mind

It's not on my list of top places to visit, but the visit was pleasant enough. It feels overpriced for what you get to see, particularly in comparison to other historical buildings nearby. I understand it's a separate preservation trust, but I've been to others and been a lot happier. Staff here are great, and the house is interesting to look round. Gardens are well maintained and there's lots of renovations going on. Parkland is great for walking dogs. The house has an interesting history and will be much better value once the renovations are complete and there's more to see and do.

A nice historic place to visit... Parking available, entry fee 10 per adult. 30 mins for house visit and 1 hr for garden visit. An execellent cafe is available for refrushments. 14 rooms are open for visitors. Best time to visit is afternoon.

The largest (once private) home in Europe and its 365 rooms. Not long ago, it had been in decay (despite its Grade I status), due to the Socialists (negligent ruling coal mining next to the house), family feuds and the inheritance tax. The furniture and the huge art collection are no longer there since they have been sold out in order for the inheritance tax to be paid. No one knows where are the paintings and the furniture nowadays. Fortunately, in the last couple of years, the WW preservation trust took over the ownership and slowly trying to restore the building (within the next 20 years). The place and its gardens are so, so splendid, albeit and despite its complete emptiness, with yet visible cracks on the ceilings, peeling wall paint, glum, blank walls once used to hang amazing paintings, with drained and sold soul. The people who work there, the volunteers, are so knowledgeable and do their duties with a huge enthusiasm, which gives a lot of shine to that place. I believe the trust is doing a lot in order to preserve it (incl. the new roof, the ongoing restorations of Camellia House and surrounding areas). Hope it will have the brighter future it deserves. This place is a gem for South Yorkshire but unfortunately, thrown in the mud. Also, the The National Trust must join and help with the conservation and restoration of this amazing place. More advertising in Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley and Leeds is required for sure. Definitely pay a visit to this place and support it! Next time I will book the tours and definitely will following up with huge curiosity the progress in the years ahead.

For the price you don't get to see much of the house. The gardens are quite charming and we probably spent more time there and inside. It's a shame more hasn't gone into it for public viewing as such a grand property should be nationally known.

We had a interesting guide lead tour of Wentworth Woodhouse. Lots of history, intermingled with a courful art exhibition. Here are spectacular countryside views all around. After our informed walk, we had a quality, buffet lunch. This venue is well worth a visit where you will be helped on your way around by very cheerful staff.

A beautiful addition to the National Trust's collection of stately homes. Although there is still work to do, and if you're coming to view paintings you'll be disappointed, this house still has an abundance of internal decoration and architecture as well as extensive gardens that make your visit worthwhile. For those who need it, there is good disabled parking in front of the house and a little golf buggy to transport people to and from the other car park.

This was my first visit to this most interesting house. The staff were most welcoming and helpful. The house has some very interesting rooms within it, some of which I recognised from various films and television series that used them for location shots . At the moment there is an exhibition of costumes from some of these programmes. I also enjoyed walking around some of the grounds which still had some colour even in late Autumn. The restaurant has a good selection of food and drinks too

Having thought the house and grounds were fully with the National Trust, they are not. So please be aware that while they are on the NTs website, you will have to pay to get in (with a 25% discount for NA members). Parking is awful. Full of potholes and mud. And while the house and outside grounds looks amazing, it’s once you get inside and wander around the empty rooms that it comes apparent the place is massively dilapidated. Ceiling fixtures being held up with wooden panels, all of the house contents from years back have been sold off and all the rooms are empty. It’s a real shame to wander round such a massive estate and think that the burglars have been in during the night and stolen everything! But the reason the place is empty and looks run down is that they don’t have enough funds to repair the place and are currently replacing the roof on the old stables further up the estate. So unfortunately the house is having to wait on its repairs. The garden walks while are nice in the sun, are overgrown and unattended too. Pathways are overgrown and covered in mud, it feels like it’s been abandoned. Would I go again, probably not no. Recommend it to others, sorry another no.

Always love a historic house. Helpful volunteers and interesting architecture and paintings. Nice tea room. Gardens are not yet that great but it'll be interesting to see how they come out after the renovations

I went to see the Christmas lights and wasn't disappointed! They've spent a huge amount of time and effort setting them up, and there's so many. The effects are truly magical. What stops this getting 5 stars was the house itself. I paid extra to see the this. Whilst I loved what I saw (and as per the outside lights, a huge amount of time had been spent on the Christmas touches), I was disappointed at how much of the house was included. I would have loved to have seen more. Overall though I'd highly recommend visiting, and set up Christmas well. Kids and adults will all really enjoy it I'll probably return in the summer to see the rest of the grounds and house, as a vast and impressive historical house.

A fantastic afternoon/evening. It was a great story inside, and the rooms were amazing. Outside is fantastic with the lights everywhere. Great staff, especially Graham, for all the info. There was even an outdoor train to ride on. I'm going to take the whole family next year.

Garden visit only. Looking at Wentworth Woodhouse without the rose tint created by the mythology built up by Black Diamonds, and the good work being done by WWPT, I feel three stars is charitable, but that maybe my review is itself dictated by the fact we only visited the gardens today. The positives are first and foremost that the fee for entry is going towards preserving an important historical landmark. Secondly, the staff were extremely pleasant and welcoming- I am guessing the majority are volunteers and passionate about the project. Thirdly, the site was extremely dog-tolerant to the point of allowing dogs into the house itself, to get to the cafe and the gardens in a way that would make the National Trusts head spin but for us, makes the site incredibly accessible. Finally, its a sight to behold- an absolute behemoth of a house with some pretty amazing views from the gardens across the county of Rotherham, its really something worth seeing if you're in the area. On the downside: For the garden, that price for entry may be for a good cause but I would not describe it as well spent. The garden was dull compared to what you can see close by - its parkland with some sheltered walkways - not much in the way of curated planting or design or work appearing to be going on- being absolutely honest I think without knowing the area and the history, I'd be pretty annoyed at the price we paid for entry. Secondly, access to the house can be made by car, down the drive which paints a spectacular sight as the house comes into view, but don't spend too much time looking, or else you might well plough into the pedestrians or the oncoming traffic who are vying to use the same narrow track to enter or leave the site. It felt at little hazardous to other guests who had chosen to walk down on foot - I would suggest either its in desperate need of a footpath or the car part relocating closer to the entrance (would be my preference, would make the reveal of the house, that much better) but I feel its one Colin McCrae wannabe away from an accident. Thirdly, and linked to the last point, the signage is poor on site. For the drive down, leaving the site, signs indicate incoming traffic give way to traffic leaving the site. That is made clear when you're leaving but not when you are coming in leading to some confusion with other motorists.....maybe its there and I just missed it? Possible, but there's more signage issues yet! The turning on to the site could also be clearer maybe with a sign further down the road to differentiate itself from the garden centre around the corner. Once parked up, it also took us a little time to work out how to get to the gardens. Assuming we wouldn't be allowed to take the dogs into the house, we stood confusedly outside the house until a good natured volunteer set us straight. Then again, once in the house, it took another volunteer to direct us though a door that led through the back of the house to the gardens. An arrow or two would have really helped. Finally, we got stuck in the mud in the car park on the way out. Now, that's not the problem - knowing my car well, I should have known parking on even slightly wet grass was a bad move, but there were no other spaces on the gravel left and c'est la vie. The issue was, knowing we were stuck, a volunteer/staff member in the car park stood on and watched as we transformed a wet patch of grass into a Glastonbury 2007 re-enactment offering absolutely no help or guidance as to how to extricate ourselves from the predicament but kindly offering that "it'll be alright" and watching as the car buried itself like some kind of tax evasion attempt. Asking if perhaps they had some matting or something we could slip under the wheels to get some grip, the reply came "use your own mats." Still, much genuine thanks is owed to another visitor who came to our aid and gave us a good shove needed to achieve a little grip or else I'd likely still be writing this review in the mud...with an excellent view of the house though.

Most the rooms have nothing in. Most Paintings etc have been sold to pay for recent ongoing Restoration. Tickets should maybe be discounted whilst this occurs. Their Rockingham Pottery can be seen at Milton and Clifton Museum

I take my daughter here for the regularly changing exhibitions. There is always a range of displays for a wide age range, and I enjoy reading the history while she plays with toys or displays linked to the exhibition, and taking part in the activities together. The cafe is lovely both to eat in or take out, and the building itself is beautiful.

Lots of interesting displays and a whole floor with information on the 1980s miners strike and it's affect on S Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire. Very interesting and informative on recent history. Enjoyed the visit with my 8y old grandson.

We went yesterday with our grandson. This is a place I have visited many, many times over the years. We engaged with two members of staff who were so helpful with the knowledge about different artefacts. I cannot believe someone would give a one star for being asked for a postcode. Obviously this is to establish how far people are travelling to visit. This park must be one of the best in the country. We will never tire of visiting. I went many times as a child with my parents. We spent hours there with our children and now we are enjoying it with our grandchildren. If I had one complaint it would be that the old tree should be taken care of. It is so overgrown which I’m sure could be rectified. The museum definitely gets a thumbs up.

Lovely place to visit, loads to do to fill a day. The museum is very good, with lots of interesting local history elements. The little funfair can get a bit overcrowded, but is enjoyable. The summer splash pad is a fun way to keep the kids cool. And the various play areas are excellent.

Normally a great space but no current big exhibitions on other than 3 rooms dedicated to a consultation; kids were disappointed as they usually love the museum but loved/enjoyed the moth making workshops with Angie Hardwick and her space/exhibition. Also liked the Vintage computer games bit and the Elephant vases made with community.

Beautiful place plenty parking registration recognition for parking. Cafe few crafty shops toilets sheltered eating for outside indoor seating food decent prices. Ice cream man bit expensive. Lovely walk has different graded walks. Can buy food for the ducks. Has an online pub and food. Skiing boats cannos . Gets really busy in good weather. Make sure you take your sun screen. Lots of space for picnics/barbecues. Well worth a visit. ❤️

Lovely place even on a gray day. Been here a couple of times now, mostly just to take in the scenery and to enjoy the walk. For the most part the paths are nice and dry, but some parts get muddy with rain and end up slippery - so appropriate footwear is a must. It might be worth noting that toilets are not accessible 24/7, so you might want to time your visit to be more during the earlier hours of the day.

Absolutely awesome. Bike hire, toilets, cafe, walking trails, bike trails, cable water ski, the list goes on. Plenty of parking spaces and not to dear too. It automatically takes your reg plate so no tickets, then when your going visit one of the pay stations enter your reg, pay your money and jobs a good one. Lots to do and see, plenty of benches around the walks and plenty of places for a picnic. I just wish there was something closer to Manchester however I'm willing to travel as its brilliant.

We go here regularly and really enjoy. We have a van so park on grass overlooking lake . The facilities are really good whether hiring bikes or boats or doing watersports. There is plenty to do and the walk around the lake is lovely. Also dog friendly

Lovely places. Lots to do. Plenty of ice cream. Cafe, Dog bakery. Bike hire. Walk fir miles. We stayed at Waleswood and we could walk down into the valley.

I think a bit better signage would help here. No good saying where the toilets are when I don't know where that place is! Two signs for car parking - to the left and right but didn't know what else was there. 'Parking and toilets this way', or 'parking and sailing club' that way. Not everyone is a local so we need better signage! Public areas need a good tidy up now that the place is established. It all felt a bit 'end of season', but it's May and it should look tidy. Having moaned about all that, I did like this place! Lots of water fowl, sailing dinghy floating by, a car park with lots of shady trees. Does the miniature railway still run? Let people know. But it's a good space, very green and peaceful.

It's a beautiful and clean place. You can have a picnic and there's a restaurant to eat. There are too many activities you can do in this park. Also you can bring your dog that they can enjoy and swim in the lake. This is our first time but we are definitely coming back.

Fantastic place. Gorgeous lake where you can swim, paddle, kayak, paddle board, etc. Can either hire items for an hour for £12 or you can bring your own and pay £12 for the day and use when you like but DON'T FORGET YOUR LIFE JACKETS they do not hire these out separately with your own float. £6 for all day parking, bring a picnic or eat in the cafe - nice food. Highly recommend 👍

A surprisingly warm day for October and Rother Valley was fairly busy. There is plenty of parking which is reasonably priced. You can call off at the cafe for some hot and cold food. However, they were not serving after 3 pm. This maybe due to the time of year. There is also a candle and archery shop, along with a shop that serves fresh handmade dog biscuits (not you average shop bought ones). The lakes were busy with hired boats and jet skis. You can also find a small museum that explains how Rother Valley was founded. There are plenty of lovely walks and not just around the lakes. The walks around the lakes are wheelchair friendly. If you are into bird spotting, there are plenty of places to take a pew and watch all the different types. It's well worth bringing a picnic and making the most of the outdoors.

Beautiful place for a day. Lovely level walk around the lake on firm wide paths (very good for wheelchairs and mobility scooters). Nice cafe with plenty of outdoor seating. All the grass verges around the lake are nicely maintained. Nice secure play area for the kiddies, and numerous water activities on offer. Would go regularly if I lived closer.

There's a car park. Drive down a very long road to the bottom. The postcode actually sent me on a wild goose chase down the wrong road, so use Google maps to find the precise location if you get stuck. Brown signs are also at the entrance. You'll go through a barrier. You pay when you leave as its ANPR. You can pay by cash or card at the machines before you leave, or by card at the barrier when you leave.. Toilets available. Cafe available.. A very pretty place which is brilliant for families. A concrete path enables easy walking around, suitable for buggies.. You can walk all the way around the water. Brilliant for families, dog walkers , or outdoor exercise. There's also a water sports centre too. The cheapest parking cost is £1.50. Looks pretty, even in the rain !!

Love paying Rother Valley a visit! Have been there several times this summer. It’s only 25 mins drive from us so very convenient. There’s a beautiful lake to walk around - the walk takes us about an hour in all, but in the nice weather we have been stopping half way and having a picnic and reading for a few hours. You can take your own paddle boards etc and use the lake. You can hire pedal boats, motored boats, bikes and trikes. In the summer there’s a little train that goes round on one side. Ample parking, and if you have a Blue Badge you can park for free always, just have to show your badge at the office and they’ll make a note. Overall a really nice place to visit and walk. There are trails you can do as well, but as of yet we have not tried them. There’s also water inflatables and water skiing that you can pay to use in the summer. There’s a playground for the kids to play. Plenty of picnic areas. It is well looked after as well so always tidy. Oh, and plenty of ducks and geese to feed! Highly recommend to anyone looking for a nice day out or even just a nice lengthy walk with a pretty view.

First visit and very pleasantly surprised and will return. Tricky underfoot in places but probably easier on a dry week.

Lovely walk. Relaxing with lots of ducks and swans. Cafe nice with cheap cups of tea. The food is a bit more pricey. The playground is often very muddy and flooded. There used to be two play areas but for some reason they got rid of one, which is a shame. Having one closer to the facilities would be much better. There are lots of benches to sit and chat, but not loads of picnic tables. It is fun watching the water skiers.

This place has a massive sentimental value to me. I’ve been visiting this place for as long as I can remember and the memories surrounding this place will stay with me forever. Everyone here is so friendly. There is a park for the children. a lovely walk around the reservoir plenty of photo opportunities. Café and lots of picnic areas. I would definitely, definitely recommend a visit.

Really nice walk to be had round here. Great reservoir lots of bird life. Cafe was nice if a tad expensive for the size of the coffee. Car park is not the best, a whole bay currently take up with building materials. There is n EV charger however that could not be accessed due to inconsiderate petrol cars parking in the spot. Will definitely visit again.

Lovly little walk, dog friendly, cafe on site picnic benches, feed the duck n small outdoor play area for kids, been twice this week to walk my puppy

A beautiful if a bit rough and ready country park with excellent views of the surrounding farmlands and an abundance of nature. This place is nostalgic for me, however from an unbiased view these are my thoughts. An area for improvement would be the Hope Fields as although it is open to visitors, there is still much work to be done on it to get it really up to how it could be. The 2 cafes in front of the parking provide different facilities the one on the left is more aimed at young families, a bit more budget and the one on the right a bit more upmarket, offering hot meals and table service. I would recommend the park to all, especially as we move further through the spring.

No problem with the walking of the area , we love the dog walk . I don’t understand why the cafe isn’t dog friendly. The amount of dog walkers who would appreciate a coffee inside with their pooch would be uncountable. It’s not a fancy cafe and cannot understand why it’s not offered as a dog friendly cafe in a dog walkers area . The amount of revenue it could also bring would make a great little business. We take our dog to many dining places of a higher standard and are extremely dog friendly. This place really needs to move with the times and recognise what people want and what brings business in .

Lovely place for a walk, some interesting places around the reservoir as well. There is a place to eat near car park area and public toilets. Great spot for bird feeding and fishing if you're into it.

Nice country park, good for a relatively flat walk around the Thrybergh resevoir. There are short sections of smooth concrete paths and then the route is quite gravelly. Can manage in a wheelchair ok and saw several people with mobility scooters..there is disabled parking too

It's a pleasant place to go for a walk and enjoy the scenery, plenty to see , play park for kids and a café , there is a shop, when I last visited it was open as usual and selling all the usual snacks and drinks an ice cream parlor is also on site, there's onsite toilets. The main attraction is feeding the ducks geese and swans. Some even ate peanuts out of my hands , they are used to getting food from people. Overall a really pleasant place to visit.

Visited on a Friday morning about 10:00am. The café was open serving food and drinks to the outside seating area. The car park was quite. Some may like to know it had a car charging point with two outlets but I know nothing about its capabilities. It was an overcast day on our visit and seemed quiter than it could be based on the amount of car parking space available. Walking at a gentle pace round the reservoir takes about an hour. It's about 1.75miles long. A young woman ran round it three times in the time it took us to walk it. It's home to well over 30 Swans which didn't seem aggressive. If you walk clockwise and keep to the lower path behind the raised bank you will find some friendly sheep. A fire engine turned up to test some of its equipment using the water in the reservoir. The place has a play area for kids. Just the one toilet facility that I could see.

For the money this place is well worth a visit. I thought I’d take my DSLR with me on my trip to take some photos! The farm is well laid out with COVID safety in mind. The animals have lots of space to roam and are well cared for. The staff are friendly, attentive and happy to talk to you about any questions! Parking is fantastic with plenty of space. I really cannot fault the place! Thanks for a lovely day out and enjoy the photos! 😊

Took our 3 year old for an explore!! Plenty of things to see and lots of animals. There is a two small parks and activity hut for the kids. You can buy some food and feed a few animals. There is quite a steep hill, to get up and down. Also a few picnic tables, but there is a cafe with a play barn and a restaurant. Worth checking out.

Fab food and drinks in the cafe. We had an amazing lunch. Staff were really friendly and service was super quick. Loaded Sticky Korean Chips ( home made in the cafe ) were best I have ever eaten. All of our food was made with love and effort and it shows. We will definitely be back.

Found this wonderful place by chance. A beautiful fresh feeling when you walk in staff are friendly and smiley, food smells great and is delicious, coffee is a fantastic taste too. Will definitely be visiting again.

This is a really lovely place but just seems really expensive for what it is. You have to pay almost as much as an adult (£7) for over 1s which seems a lot. Then there's not a huge amount there - a lovely walk around the farm animals and a small wooden play area which is ideal for 4+ but inaccessible for my 2 year old who cost the same. It was very very muddy when I went in January which can't be helped but perhaps some seasonal rates would be wise. There are 2 small sheds - one with animals that are usually outside so that outside area was closed off instead and one with rabbits, birds, guineas and meerkats to look at. We then went to the cafe - I feel the cafe was reasonably priced for what you get as the food was lovely and they do a chai latte which you can't get everywhere! However, we had to pay a further £4 per child for them to play in the small soft play. This seems ridiculous after you've just spent £25 for an hour's worth of farm and then £40+ for 4 of us to eat. It's very small. You pay about the same for wacky warehouse and it's about 4x as big. If you pay for entry to the farm, this really should be free, especially if you're spending on food etc too. Maybe a minimum spend in the cafe could result in free play? Also, service was very slow and it wasn't busy so I'd like to think they would have a few more hands on deck at busier times. If you're not bothered about the chai latte and just want a coffee, I'd go to wacky warehouse. If you want a day's worth of farm with activities, things to see etc then I'd go to cannon hall - it's not much more but you get far more for your money. There's also very little on the website to plan your visit. If I'd seen the map below and realised how little I was getting for my money beforehand, I wouldn't have gone. I'd recommend this place should be £5 for adults, £3 for over 2s, free entry to the soft play with minimum spend in cafe and maybe include some activities in the farm or upgrade the outdoor play equipment. I'd definitely go again then and recommend to others but can't at the moment.

We visited on the Saturday of the Jubilee weekend. It wasn't at all busy. It's a great place to take the kids. Lovely play park, ideal for a picnic too. Animals are very sociable, even our girl who is afraid of animals found a gentle enough goat to hand feed! As other reviews state, there are some short but steep hills to navigate, I managed on my crutches but it was really hard going. Staff were friendly and sweet with the kids. There is a restaurant and a cafe, a photography studio, a pottery painting shop and a houseplants shop too, all accessible from the car park. If I had been having a really bad day I'd happily have stayed in this area whilst the kids went round the farm with my partner. I may not always be able to walk far but I am always happy to shop or paint some pottery. The kids had a blast, slept really well that night, and we are all looking forward to visiting again, with more animal feed and a picnic.

Lovely farm trail. We went on a rainy Wednesday and had the place to ourselves! There is a trail that leads partly around the lake, up the hill and around the animal paddocks. There's a playground, lots of picnic tables and a pond. We saw pigs, sheep, goats and deer. There are more animals in the small barn near the entrance.

Lovely farm. They offer animal feeding. The horses are absolutely lovely especially the brown one. It is on a hill so anyone who has trouble walking i do not recommend to go but for anyone else i do highly recommend. The cafe is lovely and has good food. There is a play area which is good for kids. When i was there one of the goats got stuck in their hay thing and it was funny watching it jump out.

Brilliant farm! It’s £6.50 per adult but under 1s are free. The toilets and baby change could do with a bit of a good clean. There’s plenty of animals to see, I’d suggest buying some animal feed as you get more interactions from the animals. My 9 month old son absolutely loved it. You will need a good pram with decent wheels to push around the farm though, we have an all terrain pram so we were fine.

Really peaceful place, the parts of the Abbey that Henry the VIII didn't pull down are still impressive, as is the waterway running through it. The staff are welcoming and knowledgeable there is a little gift shop and toilets. The cobblestone road down is quite steep and narrow, passing places are few and there is a small carpark at the bottom. There are free walks around the outside of the Abbey which give good views of it as well. We enjoyed a picnic inside the abbey grounds and the short walk through the woods. But there are longer walks along the river.

Lovely location, nice place to have a wander, but there is very little information on site. Staff didn't offer up much. Cobblestone drive for the last 500m or so down to the site which is fun to navigate in a campervan.

Nice walk around. Worth going a English heritage member, but not sure it's worth paying to enter otherwise. Small gift shop. Would be nicer with a cafe or more info around the actual abbey.

The Abbey of Roche, built for the so-called White Monks, as the Cistercians were known, had an almost otherworldly air. It was, after all, built at the northern end of an area once covered by Sherwood Forest, and it was said that Robin Hood went to Mass here. It's a Cistercian monastery founded in 1147. Twenty-five years later, at the end of the century, the Norman Gothic great church, dedicated to the Virgin Mary, had been finished. Had a stroll outside the premises towards a small waterfall. If you don't want to spend money to visit this site, you can keep left of the entrance and gate and walk outside the fencing. Thus, having a reasonable view of the area. You need to park close by in a parking. Just a small walk up to the Abbey. The visitors centre has toilets. Clean. Friendly people working there.

A lovely impressive site nestled behind trees at the end of a winding, unassuming single-track road. Even has its own stream and waterfall!

Very quiet and peaceful. Parking does seem to be limited and looks to be a case of park where ya can.

Small English Heritage venue, but definitely worth a visit. The staff were really friendly and helpful (and even recommended a small walk, outside of the grounds). The one slight downside (which was advised in advance) is that there's no notices around Abbey, highlighting any points of interest. If you include the walk, you can comfortably do this in 60-90 minutes.

I absolutely love Roche Abbey. From my experience, it's usually reasonably quiet, which makes it all the more special. However, I may just be picking the right time to go. I could sit in those grounds all day long. Lots of history there and the staff are fabulous. Nice little gift shop and toilets available. Be sure to have a wander and find the stepping stones.

Lovely little spot. Very peaceful. Perfect spot to take a picnic or go for a walk. Icecreams and drinks available from shop! Only thing missing was some more signage showing what things used to be - would have brought it to life more. The drive down was a bit precarious; single track with veye few passengers g places, so go slowly.

My home team stadium, a state of the art football ground, home of Rotherham United. Not a huge impersonal stadium but friendly both in terms of the place itself and also the staff. If your team are playing here come visit us and give me a wave. I sit in the west stand close to the away fans section.

First time visiting. Great stadium. Looked clean & tidy, no litter around. Staff around the ground and inside were very friendly, smiley & polite. Brilliant atmosphere for the women's euros 2022 quarter final. Close to Rotherham interchange for car parking and public transport.

We host our apprentice awards in the boardroom, which we do every year. Nice venue,lovely staff and great pie and peas 😊

Nice stadium, easy to get to. Serves Guinness from a can. Good seats, although on the scoreboard; doesnt show score / measure time of play, Only replays and goal alerts from other games..

The ASSEAL New York Stadium is a wonderful purpose built stadium with a modern but community feel to it. The stadium has automated turnstiles, meaning a contactless entrance to the stadium. The stewards and officials are very friendly to both home and away fans and it is also very safe. The stadium can be clearly seen and is easy to find with signposts and match day signs out. The stadium was very COVID friendly with sanitiser station in and outside the stadium as well as one way systems for staircases and toilets. The range of drinks and PUKKA snacks available is brilliant and is on the cheap side for a football stadium, however inside the stadium they only accept cash. With the current situation with COVID card machines at the food outlets would be good. The pitch was in fantastic condition and the whole of the stands were spotless too. The ease of access to leave was very good and there was no large groups of fans mingling on the way out as everyone was kept moving out and away from the stadium. The parking for the stadium is one of the best in the country with there being a large car park about 2 minute walk from the stadium which is free on match days. A brilliant stadium to visit and some brilliant football inside!!

An easy walk from the railway station. Concourse for away fans pretty roomy. A decent selection of eats and drinks, if you feel the need. Seats fine. Good views. The stadium feels smaller inside than it looks from the outside.

Absolutely wonderful ground. Very very impressed. Staff very friendly and fans weren't too bad either..... Pies and Sausage rolls were fresh and the beer wasn't too bad. Only £1 cheaper than Wembly for pie n pint but little clubs gotta make their money somehow...

As football stadiums go, it's not a bad stadium - clean toilets and fair prices for food and drink. The stadium staff, especially the stadium manager and the stewards, were very friendly and helpful. But, the stadium roof just isn't wide enough and we got soaked, especially as the disabled seat area was not under cover at all.

Good experience here, maybe because my team won! Was able to park within 5 minutes walk of the stadium for a reasonable price. Nice ground with fairly modern facilities. Good view of the pitch. Not great atmosphere but the home team aren't doing well so maybe that's why.

Nice historic building with kind non judgemental people. The social supermarket and cafe run out of there is super nice. More people should know about it since they do craft groups, stuff for kids, and there's always someone to talk to.

Museum Of The Moon - sound bath (event) Enjoying a relaxing sound bath under the moon! Museum of the Moon is a touring artwork by UK artist Luke Jerram. Measuring seven metres in diameter, the moon features 120dpi detailed NASA imagery of the lunar surface. At an approximate scale of 1:500,000, each centimetre of the internally lit spherical sculpture represents 5km of the moon’s surface. Sound baths are a meditative practice involving the use of resonant music. This creates an immersive sound that fills the space, and the body, aiming to help people relax and let go of stress, anxiety, or other worries and concerns. People report feeling deeply relaxed after sound baths, which may have health benefits. This event was part of a day of programming by WOW Rotherham.

Visited to see the ' Museum of the moon ' last Sunday. It was amazing to see the church full of people of all ages enjoying the show. Thanks to all involved for a wonderful time.

Visited on the 19th August for the Thomas Rotherham exhibition. I joined the tour of the Bell tower which was amazing. Malcom was our tour guide and was very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. So was the warden Richard. The church is an amazing place well worth a visit.

Recently visited for the Museum of the Moon exhibition, stunning. Well organised, lovely warm welcome, lots of information available as well ad a complementary post card of the event.

It was a very nice moon display with some lovely, friendly, and very helpfully volunteers on hand to enhance the experience.

Amazing dog friendly church - came here for the Rock Choir concert and was bowled over that our dog was allowed in too! People made such a fuss over her and made us feel incredibly welcomed and accepted. The choir was excellent and all the minster staff/volunteers were brilliant.

My grandson had his 3rd birthday party here, it was beyond my expectations. Not only was the soft play area clean and well kept the entertainment with the dragon was excellent. My grandson was made to feel like the star of the show with his throne to sit on. The food was very nice. The best soft play area for a party by far. Staff professional and friendly. We will definitely return.

We had our son's birthday party here and it was brilliant. They loved the soft play, good portions of food, they catered for my son's dairy allergy well, and they found the little dragon show hilarious. Thanks so much and we will definitely be back.

Great playground and a really fun birthday adventure made by staff which were also very kind to everyone. My boy loved it especially due to having a playground outside also. Recomend having a birthday for the little ones at this place.

Just had my daughters birthday there with 18 of her friends brilliant place no complaints kids loved it

I come here often with my 2 year little boy. Its a lovely little play area with brilliant welcoming friendly staff, suitable for babies and younger children. It's very reasonably priced. £6.50 play and eat is a real bargain, mummy can finally sit back with a brew while its hot whilst he goes off and plays.

Very disappointed with my daughters birthday here recently. The management increased the price between the time of booking the party and the day itself and didn't honour the previous price. Instead we had to publicly argue the point to get a small reduction, which was very unprofessional and surely a way for the management to try to embarrass us infront of our guests. Add to that the show element of the day has been getting progressively worse over the last few parties we've had here, means we won't be coming back again the future. Really really disappointing for something that used to be an exciting and unique experience for our kids.

Had my daughters 5th birthday party on the 8th July & honestly cannot rate this place high enough. She had the best time & so did her friends. Jade ran the party superbly, making all the kids laugh & get involved whilst still making it all about my daughter. I paid a little extra for the face painter which proved totally worth it. Every child left happy & smiling. Can't recommend this place enough.

Went to a Children's birthday party ideal venue and staff were very attentive to the kids, checked prices on the venue and seemed very reasonable.

Had an amazing 7th birthday party, my daughter was literally made to feel like a queen. We took around 30 rowdy children and staff worked their socks off to provide an entertaining, memorable experience. The price is so low for exclusive hire, food, live entertainment and party bags. Fantastic!

Not bad for toddlers , only small and looks a bit dated inside. Staff were great though.

Good size went early so wasn't busy. Disappointing that the outside area wasn't open as that was part of reason we chose this soft play. :-(. Lovely staff and kids had a brilliant time still.

Hoober Stand. If the sign says closed, it means you can't go inside, you can visit the outside every day of the week via the footpath. Very interesting building with some history to it. Very close by is the remains of a Grotto Hermitage. It's a nice view from the hill, and it's fun to walk around. You can park in a pull out on the road, or in one of the nearby car parks and walk up the hill. Access inside is on Sundays only I believe.

It's not possible to call the Hoober Stand beautiful because in my opinion it isn't. It's a huge grey look out Tower that was built to celebrate the end of the Jacobite uprisings. And that's all it is a huge grey look out Tower. What is beautiful are the views. Without even going up in the tower the view from the hill out over the Vale is breathtaking. The Stand is an historic oddity. It won't take a full day up when visiting but if you're interested in history and you're in the area go take a look. It's an impressive building that sits dominating the area.

An iconic landmark on the Wentworth estate, worth a visit, probably worth the climb but I wasn't allowed, despite my powers of charm, knowledge, and bribery. Please note the incorrect time of opening on Google, it's actually 12-3 every Sunday, a very limited visiting window. And to make the visit more limiting, take cash. The custodians don't operate a card payment facility. A shame really as they must miss so many visitors who have now got used to the ease and convenience of a cashless society. The custodians were not very accommodating or sympathetic in our request to solve the cash problem, especially when I had travelled quite a distance to experience it.

Beautiful place to visit for the views alone. It's okay for a picnic and walk. No access for wheelchairs. You can only go inside Hoober Stand on a Sunday.

One of the Fitzwilliam Wentworth Estate follies and, in my opinion, the one in the most ideal location. Surrounded by a small coppice and fields, overlooking the entire Estate makes this the ideal place to enjoy a panoramic view from all points of a compass. Check opening times as it is only open Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays. Well worth the effort to get there.

An intimate private museum. It was the first time that I met so many enthusiasts who create this place. An atmospheric and fantastic place. The museum that charmed me. The old bus ride is the icing on the cake.

Good day out if you are interested in transport. Nice to see works in progress and finished vehicles. An interesting eclectic collection, plus model displays & entrance ticket includes bus ride.

A surprise visit organised by my son who was making his first visit also. We were restricted by our time so only manged to quick tour of the exhibits but both of us plan to return soon to spend more time looking around. I joined as a member!!! thoroughly enjoyed the bus ride.

Really well run and a great day out. The staff are mostly volunteers and are really knowledgeable. The cafe is lovely and they offer a range of coffee, soft drinks and cakes.

The South Yorkshire Transport Museum is one of those rare experiences that exceeds expectations massively. I don't know exactly what I expected but the sheer variety of transport-related memorabilia coupled with the knowledgeable and really friendly staff make for a fantastic experience. It takes you back in time in the best way...go and visit - you won't be disappointed !

What a great place. First time I'd visited was for one of their monthly open weekends in September 2018. There was a classic car event on outside with plenty to see and take photos of. Inside the museum was an Aladdin's cave of historical transport things. From old road signs through to classic cars and buses. Old lorries and push bikes. Also open was the area where they are restoring some old buses. This is primarily a bus museum for South Yorkshire so there's a lot from the region but plenty of other things to keep you saying 'ah, I remember those cars, bikes, signs or whatever'. There's a cafe and toilets too and also a shop to buy transport related books and magazines. It's certainly a place I'll be going to again and again.
