The Mevlana Museum is a great place to stop if you’re in the area. If you practise Islam then it is probably a must; especially for those who study Sufism as this museum houses the orders founder. Much of the building is a kind of mausoleum dedicated to him. There is also a lot of information about Sufism and how it’s practiced. One of the key staples of Sufism was developing excellent calligraphy skills and they hand copied a lot of books. You can see many originals here.

A fascinating place for those interested in Islamic culture. The museum features exhibits in Sufi cells, many cultural artifacts, and, obviously, the tomb of Rumi. This attraction is free and was very crowded when we visited. No special clothing is required, but most people wore respectful garb.

The museum is excellent, but it would significantly benefit from providing guided tours for a more enriching experience. Currently, there are insufficient explanations, signs, and introductions, making it difficult for foreign tourists like myself to fully understand many exhibits. Offering guided tours could greatly enhance visitors' comprehension and enjoyment of the museum.

No words to explain the beauty of this place. Steeped in Islamic arts and history. If you are visiting Konya, you are unlikely to escape without spending an hour or two here. Best time to is early morning before the rush sets in so that you can take a close look in peace. While you are sure to enjoy this, don't forget to visit the mosque next door.

To see the tombs of the wise elder Sufi from the second golden age of islam is truly impressive. Lots of historic handwritings and qurans from the 13th century and the early seldjuk empire

Loved visiting this museum. A spiritual place with lots to learn. It's a small museum, so it can get crowded. If your in the vicinity then I'd recommend you pop in. Entry was free.

Peaceful and calm. It’s one of the best museum in Turkey to go&discover. When you come to see Konya, first place that you have to see I can say. You would see and amazed with culture of Sufi and Islam. You will have a chance to see different size of really old Quran’s which is book of Islam..

Marvelous history museum. The leaders are located in this mosque and I could see that they were watching us spiritually visiting their resting place. At the same time it is believed that the box in my reviews has a rose smell from his beard. But the beauty of this place is breathtaking and how well it is being maintained with many tourist visit.

Museum has a lot of places to visit, you can have audioguide for 60 turkish liras for places numbered from 1 to 59. As we all know Rumi’s one of the greatest wellknown person in the world and his greatness only comes from kindness, smartness, gracefullnes, indulgence and his deep respect for Allah (God). To visit his grave and pray to Allah for his soul and for everyone’s goodness is good task to do. Also there is a souvenir shop in the garden to buy original gifts.

Clearly a very holy place for Muslims pilgrims who visit from afar. It was very nice of the site manager to allow visitors to visit whilst being respectful of local customs. Enjoyed the experience greatly. Very beautiful arxhotecutr and collection of old Qurans (one dated back to the 9th century!)

Beautiful place, Rumi was a man of great wisdom, inside there are many statues depicting stories of his. Graves of many related people. Though no one knows where his body actually buried is. Many artifacts of his era are also there.

Place to visit the tomb of Mevlana (Rumi). A truly cultural experience as many people visit here as a pilgrimage. There is also a relic from the prophet Muhammad. Tourists are welcome but please show respect. It is not enforced for women to wear a head covering, but it's better to bring one and wear it at least inside the building with Rumi's tomb.

750 years, an amazing spiritual man graced our world. The presence of Mevlana Celaleddin is still available to those with an open heart. But... it would be nicer if a strict silence was enforced, no mobiles or chatting. Anyway, I will continue to visit Mevlana at least once per year, more often if I can. I usually buy some souvenirs from the museum shop, the somewhat higher prices are worthwhile for the quality of product and knowledgeable information of the staff plus a support to maintain Mevlana's resting place.

Worth the trip for any Molana (or Mevlana) fans. Although I was not a fan of his teachings and poetry, I found the experience calming and educational. Parking will be difficult. Try one of the paid parking lots that are dotted within walking distance

Such an inspirational place of tranquillity. A must to see place for anyone interested in learning about Eastern culture and, in particular, Sofi philosophy.

It feels peaceful to be there and it’s quite interesting that how different people from all over the world are coming to see this treasure. He’s definitely a call for spirituality and we as humans have it or need it in a certain times of our lives.

The building is shaped as a butterfly and its really nice. The butterflies are so beautiful and come in different shapes, colors, and sizes. If you're going to visit, keep in mind that its VERY humid inside where the butterflies are. Also the rotten fruits smell terrible so bring a mask. Other than that, its a nice place to spend a few hours with your friends and family.

Very beautiful place to spend time with your family. During my visit there was not much different butterfly species. Good to know for those who visit this place during cold time, inside is hot (28°C) and 80% humidity, so take off jackets before entering :)

This place is just amazing! The government invested a lot in this project. So many butterflies in the garden from all of the world. The building constructed in the shape of the butterfly too. Personnel was very nice and cooperative. Parking lot is big enough and free of charge. It was very humid inside, so I advise to wear a t-shirt or something light, to be able to remove warm clothes when entered into the building. A little cafe at the end of the tour is very good idea, the prices for coffee and other drinks were fine. You can buy souvenirs and various gifts too. Thus, I recommend to visit this garden, it will be more nice to come with kids of course. There is also a small cinema with funny cartoons about insect’s life. Should be interesting for kids as well. 👍

This place is a gem! At first I was reluctant to go only because in my head I was like “what’s so cool about a butterfly sancutary”, but boy was I wrong. This place is a habitat that’s perfect for butterflies to thrive and flourish. The environment that they’re raised it humid and warm, but not excessive to the point where it’s not tolerable. The butterflies themselves are absolutely majestic. They come in all different shapes, sizes, and colors. They import the cacoons from many different continents and raise them there. There are plenty of fruits, and greens for them to enjoy. The scenery itself is just beautiful. If you’re ever in the area, I highly recommend this place as not only is it cheap, but it’s well worth the time. You’ll have a wonderful photo shoot session in there.

Amazing idea with amazing architecture! Inside the sanctuary [butterfly museum] you will find that the environment is controlled. So the temperature stays at 26 degree cel. all the time. Its a wonderful place but don't hurt those beautiful living beings. There's a section for kids to learn about nature. Nature education is very essential for the future generation. Other things you will find out whenever you'll visit there.

I felt like I was back in India. It was hot and humid!! And I love the butterflies. 😍 The sit in your hand just fly with you like any other day! Such a nice place. Amazing place, the entry fee is reasnoble to cheap, the environment there is just positive and appealing, I would go there again if I had the chance, u can visit it for the butterfly tropical exhibition, the flowers park, or just for picnic in the massive beautiful park. We loved this place, very well laid out and all the creatures conditions looked great, not like they were captive.. It was also quite educational for our 9 and 11 year old boys. The butterflys fly around freely and there are many. There are also other sections that concentrate on many other insects.

One of the points in Konya you should absolutely see. The building was created as a butterflies house so the degree is around 28 but the humidity is high and a little boring and causes sweetness. Complaints: The tour is so short(25 min) and I have doubts that it is worth the charge(60 tl)((I guest helping butterflies keeping alive should be expensive). Another is that I saw generally some kinds of butterflies. Where are the other types?Nevertheless, you should see charming butterflies.

It is one of the best tourist attractions in Konya. You can watch different species of butterfly 🦋 at different stages. Big glass and steel dome type structure is built to create tropical climate and suitable environment for butterfly. Butterfly breeding is also done here. We can watch different stages of butterfly life. There is one section where dead butterflies are preserved to be showcased. If you have time in Konya and you are not from a area of tropical climate you must visit this place.

I really liked the building structure, it's beautiful. Inside is just ok, not many butterflies. The landscape is good.

Visited the garden with my wife. It was very entertaining, and we enjoyed our visit. The Garden was easy to access, on two levels. Data for butterflies was easy to read, in both Turkish and English. My only comment is the parking; as we mistakenly parked next to the nearby park. After walking around the Butterfly Garden, for about 200 meters, we discovered another car park, with easier access and taxi rank.

Went here with my family and it was such a fun experience for both the elderly and the kids. When going into the building, the temperature and humidity are quite high due to the living conditions of the butterflies, so be aware of that. When going inside pictures in front of a green screen can be taken which you can buy later with different backgrounds (4 pieces = 100₺). The environment and butterflies were beautiful and definitely an once in a lifetime experience

Nice quiet spot of this massive city to take it easy a bit. Go for a stroll with an ice cream in your hand and you will explore this tiny green island in the ocean of concrete. PHOTO TIP: at the mosque you can take nice photo with the roses on the west side right outside the wall, especially at sunset.

Very peaceful place to walk around and to sit for a few minutes of silence, to admire nature. The mosque on the property also is huge and beautiful!

Very nice hill in the middle of the city. There are mosques and some nice green spaces to hang out and enjoy a very nice city view. The mosque i did not find that special compared to some other ones in the area, from a tourist point of view, but i liked the tower, the chunky one. There is also a police station in the park which is very nice and adds to the safety of the place.

Very beautifully and well organised. Being on a top of the hill with the historical mosque on top, with families and services at different heights makes this one of the most beautiful parks I have ever been to. I would come back to Konya for this gorgeous place.

The city of Konya has done impressive things with its green spaces and parks. In all honesty, the areas that border the tram throughout the city are some of the most beautiful that I've seen in the world. The city should be proud.

A great place to sit amongst locals and sip çayi in one of the cafés. Well connected with a couple of tram stops and after tea you can head over to Kulture Park for amazing ice cream

Small mosque where the tomb of Shams of Tabriz is supposed to be located. However, there are similar burial places claimed by other cities ( up to 5), including one Unesco World Heritage place in Iran. According to contemporary Sufi tradition, Shams mysteriously disappeared: some say he was killed by close disciples of Rumi who were jealous of the close relationship with Rumi but according to others, he left Konya.

Mashallah what a majestic place of great historical importance. Loved visiting this area. And you would feel even more good if you have read The Forty Rules of Love. May Allah bless this person and if you get the chance, do visit this.

Similar to Molana Rumi who had moved with his family from the city of Balkh in North Eastern Persia (Iran) to Konya, Shams Tabrizi had also moved to Konya, today's southern Turkey from his home city of Tabriz in North Western Persia. His actual burial site where his remains rest, is in the city of Khoy, in Iran, Azarbaijan province in northern Iran.. This site of Shams Tabrizi in Konya is symbolic and not the actual burial place of Shams.

This is the Shams Tabrizi mosque which has a tombstone claiming to be of Shams. Shamse Tabrizi was the spiritual mentor of Mo'lana (Mevlana) the great Persian poet and Sufi. However we Iranians believe that Shams suddendly disapeared from Konya and died in city of Khoy in Iran. Shams Tabrizi's tomb is in Khoy, beside a tower monument in a memorial park that has been nominated as a World Cultural Heritage Center by UNESCO. This seems to be an ordinary mosque but it has a great cultural value.

The architecture of this mosque is very nice and the details are so good to appreciate. This is a free place to visit for tourists, of course you have to respect the place and the people praying. It’s within the market so definitely stop and check it.

October 2023 The Mosque was closed on the day we visited and looked like it's been closed for a while. The carvings on the entrance are beautifully intricate. We stared at it for a good 10 minutes to take in the beauty. Accompanying minaret was strangely right next to the entrance. Mosque is adjacent to Kulture Park which is surrounded by hundreds of shops, restaurants, cafés. A very pleasant walk.

Although it is pretty similar to the other madrasa north of alaaddin park, and the other one has more artifacts to admire, i give this one a higher rating because of the impressive architecture on the outside of the archway at the entrance door and the mineret next to it. Other than that, it is mainly just stones inside. The entrance is 20 lira so you can always check it out.

It has a magnificent dome. From the plan of the building to the smallest detail, you will get affected from its geometry. Its acoustics are incredible, it was really hard not to sing a chant in there. The purpose of the ancient architecture is still a mystery to me, I believe that there are imperceived details in history. For locals, it is a great chance to have this building in their city. Time nicely spent!

If you like fine arts and love architecture it is a must to see these fine stone carvings survived many hundreds of years until now. This building used to be an university where education and living was free for every student. Payed by the foundation where they were also work in administrative positions. Getting experienced in work as well while studying. It is interesting to know that the Selçuklu Empire had carvings of fantastic figures such as sirens, double headed eagles, phoenix and angels as well as hunting and animal figures. They took over a big part of the Eastern Roman Empire and developed.

Beautiful museum near Aladin Park, I'm in love with the architecture of this place specially the walls & enternace. There is a minimal entry fee which was 15 Turkish lira. Interior of this place is Amazing.

The outside park area is beautiful. The inside seating and furniture is very nice too. There are three areas in the restaurant to sit down. The upper floor which is supposed to have a good view was closed, then there is an outside separate seating area but it was full, then there is an inside seating which is the main entrance. It's a bit smaller and with the kitchen facing it. We got stuck here. The way they built the place, the noise of everyone + kitchen area blender + plates from kitchen + other cutleries all makes the place sound like a proper fish market. The sound of cutleries being arranged non-stop over powers the conversation with the family on the table. As for the deserts, it taste is very nice. I would suggest that things like waffles, they should give it in a wide flat plate because the current small plate that is given makes it difficult for the kids to use the knife and folk to eat without making a mess. One of our food ordered took more than 40 minutes, so were going to cancel it, however when they said it was nearly ready, we said to pack it to go. As for the staff, they are very nice and polite. They were very busy since it was a packed, but they were nice and efficient. 👍🏻 So depending on why and with whom your going there, I suggest to double check if you will get the space you need in advance with them before you go.

We just had a little coffee at the coffee shop/restaurant. I ordered fresh orange juice it was good. The espresso/coffee ordered by others was good. The views are different and lovely. We waited for a few minutes no one from the staff sat us or offered to help us or greeted us. It is a little funny - but I don’t expect the service from my home country. I would go back, it’s a nice little stop if you are on your way to Cappadocia or if you live in Konya and want different scenery.

I was here for breakfast at 11:30 am on Tuesday. There was no table available outside. There were people waiting for table outside. So I decided to sit inside. The service was not quick, we waited too much for what we ordered. İnside is not nice to sit. Maybe you can make a reservation before you go. The breakfast was good, quality is good and the price also.

I like this Kafem for its view. If you sit upstairs of this Kafem you can show the beautiful view.

It was very crowded even it was Friday. We had “serpme” breakfast with my family. We didn’t like the breakfast too much, it was an average. But the view is awesome! You can enjoy eating your food and watching the goldfishes in the small lake there at the same time! We would love to come back again soon!

Small museum but full of reliefs of unbelievable archaeological value. I especially love Greek mythology so the Hercules sarcophagus on show will stay with me in my mind for a very long time to come. Amazing.

Small and very basic yet very interesting and informative Musium. You'll learn a lot about the history of Konya. Free of charge just like most other attractions in Konya. Definitely recommend visiting this place.

This is a very high level archeology museum. You can see so many valuable objects here. And the building itself is amazing. You can find and educating room for children, cinema room, library and restroom and outside there is a cafeteria where you can also have delicious and cheap meals. Highly recommended!

This museum is small but has many beautiful displays, and it was free. The museum is open daily except Monday from 09:00 am to 12:00 noon and from 13:00 to 17:00 (1 to 5 pm) for TL2. Besides the expected Roman, Byzantine and Seljuk artifacts, the museum holds an assortment of finds from the Neolithic tumulus at Çatal Höyük.

Wow, for a museum with free entrance, the selection of artifacts is very impressive. The sarcophagus in the museum are the most detailed and intact I've seen in Turkey so far. They have many artifacts from pre-Roman times as well which are very interesting. It is a bit small but since there aren't many sights in Konya anyways, I think it's well worth a visit

If Konya invested more into this museum, they could attract more foreign tourists because they have something the Istanbul Archeological Museum doesn't, a room dedicated to Neolithic findings, particularly that of their own Catalhoyuk. This collection made it worth the visit to the sketch area to me

Karatay Madrasa is a madrasa (a school with a frequently but not absolutely religious focus) built in Konya, Turkey, in 1251 by the Emir of the city Celaleddin Karatay, serving the Seljuk sultan...Amazing old school with colorful mosaics..

Worth visiting only if you have the museum pass. Displays tiles and artificats of the seljuk era. It's takes only about 10 mins to visit. It was a madrasa which was converted into a museum.

It was an okay place to visit. It is a shrine and a tomb for historical religious figures and there are some artifacts around the place. I especially liked the carving on the outside of the main door as well as the inside of the dome. Other than that is it pretty cheap ( i think 20 liras) and i was alone there.

An old madrasah that now shows the tiled artwork of the Seljuks and those who came after them. This museum costs 20 lira to enter (as of October 2022). It is housed in a Seljuk era madrasah, which contains the tomb of its founder. The artwork is impressive, but if you are not into tiles it can be skipped. The building itself is quite nice however, so it can be worth a look if you are nearby and have time.

Fine arts and ceramics again. This small but very cute museum is definitely worth to see. Unimaginable how developed they even were to their time in building canalizations. Which is not maintained nowadays in present Turkey. They should take an example of their ancestors. There are no doubts that ancient civilisations were more developed then we thought they should be. But is the human being taking a step back? We don't respect our nature and destroy everything we should save and preserve.

Came here at 5pm but it's closed. Disappointed as it's opening hours on google map said it closes at 6.30pm? So what is the correct opening hours? Can it be updated please do that others will not waste their time, effort and diesel just like us.

One of the important Madrasah/theology and science school during Seljuks Empire. Well known spiritual poet Yunus Emre graduated from Karatay Madrasah in 13th century. Nice collection of Seljuk tiles and blue mosaic inner Dom.

The tile museum as it’s called in English was fine the exhibit was very limited though so there’s no reason to stay longer than a quarter of an hour or so..

Although his beylik was relatively an unimportant political power, the city flourished as one of the cultural centers of Seljuk world. In 1296, he commissioned a mosque in Beyşehir, one of the greatest mosques during the Anatolian beylik period. In 1302 he died and buried in a sepulcher next to the mosque.

It gets as much as 1 meter deep and if you expect to se flamingoes at the visitor center, you’ll be disappointed. Those birds cannot be near so many humans at once, but the bare foot walk on the salty lake bottom is not to be missed.

I believe that whether the scenery here is good or bad depends very much on (1) the condition of the sky, and (2) the amount of water covering the salt. On the day when I got there, it was rather cloudy and as a result the reflections on the lake were no good and therefore it was a big disappointment to me. What a pity!

We couldn't find any flamingos though, may be it was not the season. But overall a beautiful place, remember to bring your sunglasses and hat, there is a small market also to buy some snacks and magnets etc.

We had lunch with our bus tour here, the food was good, we didn’t get to choose the dish but we had beef with rice, pea soup and watermelon. The store has lots of salt products and the lake is amazing, it didn’t have water so it was pretty much just salt but it was amazing to see
