A great tour and tasting. Staff were very knowledgeable and took time to answer any questions. It was great to understand the process to make whisky, see the equipment used and also enjoy some tastings on the way round.

We did the distillery tour and had such a good time! I can't remember the name of the gentleman that guided the tour, but he was very friendly and knowledgeable and passionate. The tour was very Informative and we got to taste 3 delicious whiskeys.

This tour was more fun than expected. Our guide, Ian, was a hoot. He had the right combination of fun and knowledge. He made it very entertaining as we learned about how Oban Distillery produces their fine Scotch Whiskies. Highly recommend taking a tour!

One of the best distillery tours I’ve ever been on, each stage of the process is described and you can see them up close. There is tastings throughout the tour, if you are not drinking they give you a little glass bottle which you can bring with you. The tour guide had wonderful personal stories about the town and the buildings. Loved every minute, highly recommend

Visit was excellent as always, but Mike our tour guide really made it, clearly very passionate and incredibly knowledgeable about the distillery, the process and more! The staff on site during the day including production and admin were also all very pleasant and helpful! Whisky tasting lessons and tips from Mike were also very informative, I now have an even greater appreciation for my favourite tipple (didn't think I could have, but he managed!). Small footprint for a distillery but you can see quality overrides any other aspect of production here, stunning. 10% off in store for tour guests also!

The Oban Distillery is fascinating to visit. The distillery tour led by Cathie is incredible. Her knowledge of Oban’s history and Whisky making process and her stories are great to listen to. A very interesting tour and tastings of some exclusive whiskies is all part of the package.

Great tour. Gavin was clear, informative and efficient. We learned how whisky is made and how the different flavours are achieved. We sampled three whiskies at three stages of the tour and those driving could save theirs in small bottles. The hour flew by.

I had an amazing experience at the Oban distillery tour. I was amazed how the distillery is still protecting the way it manufactures the great whiskey over 230 years. The tour guide was really knowledgeable and extremely friendly. The tasting experience during the tour was great!

Went on a great tour. Guide John was funny and knowledgeable (and three drams helped make it a great time). I went from thinking I wasn’t much of a whisky fan to now appreciating it — and bought some to take home. The 10% discount for tour takers helps. I liked that we got to keep our drams as souvenirs, too.

Oban 14 is one of my favourite whiskies and visit to this distillery was an incredible experience. In the heart of the city, less than 200m from the coast, Oban distillery is the icon of this magical place of 20.000 people. Tour is not expensive and it is definitely worth it, staff is very knowledgeable and friendly and you get to have a tour through the centuries. Also you get to try many whiskies around the distilery or in a bar, which you can't easily find everywhere. Amazing place, amazing distilery, amazing people and definitely an amazing scotch!!!

The Oban Distillery tour was fascinating, enjoyable and informative. Our guide, Jim, was funny, helpful and appropriately Scottish. He made the entire tour great fun for our entire group. The craftsmanship and environmental steps taken by Oban were impressive.

One of the best distillery tour experiences I have ever had. Mark, our guide, was knowledgeable and at the same time funny, so that people without much knowledge about whisky - us - could pick up something from the tour. The distillery itself is small but the product they made is one of the best in Scotland. I appreciate how they run the business while working out to be carbon neutral.

We truly enjoyed our visit. Our guide Mark was nice and amusing. He enlightened us on the production procedures and excise collection (I did not know that the King owns all the whisky before it is taxed!). Three drums and a wee gift were a nice surprise.

I've been to a few distilleries now and this was slightly different for several reasons. The distillery itself is smack bang in the centre of Oban town centre, as opposed to Speyside distilleries which are out in the countryside. So it is nice and convenient if you are in the area. We were offered 3 drams of whisky staged throughout the 1 hour long tour, and given a small glencairn glass which we were provided a box for . The tour guide was well informed and polite, they were running late and this appeared outside of their control, due to short staffing. The Oban 14 year old whisky which is the most well known in the UK at least, is really special and the shop is well stocked, prices are very competitive.

Great tour at Oban Distillery. Guide was informative and funny, and the tour allowed us to get up close to the inning workings of the distillery. For £22 you get to try three Oban whiskies (or take them away to try at home if you're driving!) and also learn about the history of the brand, its flavours and its current whisky-making process. Great value for money and an hour well spent in Oban

We booked the Oban Distillery tour and it was very informative and entertaining. Our tour guide, I think was called Alan - I think he said he was fairly new to the job. But regardless he was brilliant at taking us through the place and describing the various stages and processes that create one of the world's best whiskeys. We got several drams along the way and they even give you a free glass with the Oban brand etched onto it. I wish my father-in-law was alive to have also gone as it was among his favorite go-to scotch's.

In centre of town, limited street parking available, small distillery with very friendly and passionate staff. 3 drams to try, a wealth of information on the process in a working distillery with a great gift shop & bar at the end. Fantastic experience well worth the money! Thanks Mike 🙂

Loved the tour. Very interesting. An hour well spent for sure, learning also a bit of local history and about the whisky industry. Loved the fact that you get to sample some of the whisky plus we got to keep a round of glasses which was really nice. If you cannot drink there you can take the samples away with you so won't be missing anything. Adam was really pleasant and funny. Thanks so much. P.S. if you do the tour you get a discount if you wanna buy a nice whisky afterwards, so well worth it.

Enjoyable experience. Working distillery located in the centre of Oban. Tour taken by Christine who was very knowledgeable and friendly. Loved the drams which were of a quality product. Had 3 of these during the tour. Glass given as part of the Whisky tour. Discount available in store included afterwards. Mixed crowd with many tourists, ours included those from Japan, Canada and America.

We had the most wonderful experience at the Oban Distillery today! I booked the tour as a surprise for my husband and the distillery team made us feel so well looked after, especially Adam! He is such a credit to the distillery and his knowledge, confidence, and passion about the history of the company and their product is absolutely outstanding! I entered this tour as someone who has never liked whisky, and I left with a new found love for it that I NEVER thought I would have! We would absolutely recommend visiting this wonderful distillery to everyone visiting the are!

A brief walk up from the harbor, this cool site was worth the trip. Beautiful houses and gardens along the way. It’s steep but doable for most. You can also drive and park pretty close. The views at the top were amazing.

It’s a brisk little walk up the hill to get to McCaig’s tower but you get the opportunity to see and feel the sleepy village’s true charm the whole way through. Once you’ve reached the peak, find a nice spot and just take in the brilliant view of Oban’s harbour from above. The lights placed along the arched pillars will turn on before dark, providing the landscape with a cool and mysterious atmosphere to soak up as the dusk turns towards the night sky. Note: you can drive up and park your car in the car park before walking in, but trust me, the walk up is the better experience. 🔭

Lovely panoramic views over Oban. It's a steep walk up from the town centre or you can drive up the narrow streets and park about 30 steps below. I've been there a few times over the years, and it's still always worth a visit just to enjoy the peace and quiet (if you're lucky). Try and stick to the paths as people are cutting across the grass from the main viewing area. It's lit up at night which looks pretty cool. Read up on the back story behind it's building. It's quite interesting. Unfortunately there's nothing on site. So Wikipedia is you're friend.

Really beautiful place! Quite windy and a bit muddy when we visited, so be prepared. Amazing views and lovely atmosphere. Only required some stairs and a bit of a trek up the hill but nothing too difficult. It made for a nice walk! Highly recommend giving this place a visit!

Beautiful views of Oban from this local historical site. With a view point facing towards the harbour and a few benches to sit on. A steep walk from the tower centre or a short drive with a small free car park located outside the monument. The monument is beautiful to see from the inside and outside, with a grass area, trees, flowers and Bench's located within the tower. The tower is even lit in the evening which looks lovely.

Strange how a person just planned to built a memorial for his family just to employ local people who are out of business. Really surprised by the history of the place. Awesome views of the town from the tower. Spectacular architecture.

An interesting folly with amazing views over the town. Like the history behind the structure, assisting unemployed builders of the time. Lots of birds singing. Very peaceful although not much too it. Several benches. Ideal for anyone, seen a few people with their dogs.

This is a magical place. Although it is just another stone structure there is something so mysterious and magnificent about it. The view from the top of the town is stunning and this is a must must visit if you’re in Oban.

An interesting place, but there needs to be a bit more historical information to put the place in context. The views over Oban and the surrounding seascape are exceptional. Very photogenic place and quite a quiet place to sit and enjoy the views. Car park quite small which limits visitor numbers, there are both stairs and pathway access

You can get some great panoramic views from here, that is unless it is wet and miserable, like when we went. But the garden was still nice and the board on the view point was helpful, pointing out landmarks and the islands. I’m sure this would look amazing lit up at night, but not yet had chance to have a look. Would recommend for the views.

If you're in Oban, you'll notice the structure towering over the city. It looks like something you'd see in ancient Rome. The history behind the structure is interesting. The views from the top are spectacular, especially when the weather cooperates. You can walk to this landmark or drive. There is a fair amount of parking available.

A beautiful gift to the people of Oban and those visiting! Great views over the town and bay. Free to enter and a carpark is barely 2 minutes walk away, what more could you want.

It's a great view over Oban and out to the islands beyond in good weather. The structure itself is very large and impressive. There's a nice park inside. Free to enter.

A brilliant folly that needs to be visited by day and by night. It has a great story behind, if somewhat poignant in the fact that the benefactor did not finish it. The Tower also provides great views over Oban Harbour.

We were lucky enough to get beautiful sunshine on our March visit to Oban and McCaig's Tower. If you're walking up, be prepared for quite a steep climb. We had people with mobility problems in our party so we drove up to the car park. There's still a steep climb but an option of steps or slope. The views are stunning and well worth the effort

We had an incredible experience at this location with a breathtaking view of the city and sea. The historic monument is round-shaped and looks abandoned. We visited it in the morning when the sky was clear, and it was beautiful. However, it was challenging to locate the entrance due to the absence of proper signposts, but fortunately, a local guided us. The car park is free, and there is no entry fee. On weekdays, hardly any visitors are present, making it a must-visit place in Oban. The hill leading up to the monument is steep and a bit thrilling to dive into, but it's worth it for the stunning view.

Lovely place to bring kids for a view of Oban. You can either drive up or take the steep steps+slopes up to this location. Approx 10 parking lots, pls do not bring campers. There seems to be a resident 🐈 there too!

Great views over Oban Harbour. It isa track from the harbour but there is a carpark nearby. Free entry.

We drove up to the carpark at the tower as it was a very windy and rainy day. The view did not disappoint. I can't wait to visit in the summer to see the view over the Mull, just a bit too cloudy today. The Tower is huge with benches to have a seat and admire the view. There are steps or a wynding path for those unable to make the steps. Worth a visit.

Worth a visit. Free museum with surprising items. Chat to one of the knowledgeable volunteers that work there, I had a great chat with the retired serviceman that worked there. Very surprised to find Dutch ww2 artefacts there too. Cool little place, be sure to leave a donation!

A must visit when in Oban. Museum with free entry which contains a lot of WW2 items, memorabilia and local history. Interesting snap shot of times gone by. Volunteers are welcoming and have a scavenger hunt for children. Please give generously as donations are essential. Lest we forget.

This museum is fantastic. The history of the museum and the old photo's, memorabilia, personal accounts are exceptional. It's the type of museum I could spend all day wandering around. There is some much to see and read about.There is a 15 minute dvd presentation about Oban and the surrounding district, the history of etc. It's free to visit, just hopefully leave a donation as you leave as the museum is run solely by volunteers. Well worth a visit.

Excellent collection, I came here as the first leg of my tour following my grandfathers regiment the 61st Highland Anti-Tank Regiment. Even met another relative of the regiment while walking around inside. What a fantastic day

The best kept secret in Oban. The amount of history and historical artifacts was astounding. It's volunteer operated, so please consider making a donation upon your visit. Street parking may be available, but it can easily be walked to if you're exploring Oban. If you've got the time, give them a visit.

A nice history of the town, well presented. Not sure why it's called war and peace museum. Certainly has lots of military memorabilia, They use the peace symbol in their logo, But that is about all you get of peace, the rest is military But not a bad little place to visit.

Awesome. Huge collection of interesting historical items each with their own story. Well put together and could spend hours there reading everything! The section on MaQuaries tower and why it was built was my favourite. Also a very interesting history video available to watch there and buy about the surrounding area. Great for everyone.

Free entry to the museum. Whole family, adults and teenagers throughly enjoyed it. The gentleman who we spoke to was so informative and with his descriptions of the exhibits made it even more thought provoking. Will visit again as there is so much to take in. Please leave a donation or buy the little card package. The museum relies on donations.

An amazing collection of artefacts and photos tell the story of Oban. Well laid out in sections of history, military, railways, aviation, etc. The volunteers who were there when I visited were very helpful and knowledgeable and the railwayman gave an insight into the local workings. It's on the front, it's free, why not visit!

A veritable mine of information about the town,its history and importance,particularly in WW2

The crossing was trouble free but the communication over pre booked crossing and numerous change of times was a shambles. If you are using the ferry I recommend frequently checking the ferry status. Our crossing was changed twice, and it was by good luck it was later than planned otherwise we would have been stranded

No parking for foot passengers so make sure you set off with enough time to park in Oban...we missed our boat! Staff were wonderful though and changed our tickets without any fuss. Fantastic way to travel the islands and super cheap on foot!

Lovely trip from Oban to Mull. Smooth and efficient service with very friendly crew. Lovely views too on a very cold but sunny morning!

Easy online booking service. They regularly post updates on services on their twitter page which i found very helpful, and employees are very quick to reply to DMs on there too. The time of my ferry was changed the day before (due to weather conditions) so I wasn't able to make it but the twitter was very helpful. I got a refund through calling their customer line which was also very helpful and easy to get through to. Would book again, just keep an eye on their twitter as services are subject to disruption due to weather etc.

Great terminal for ferries going to various ports across west Scotland. The terminal is very easily accessible from the town centre, has a Wetherspoons nearby for a breakfast (or drink if you return later!) and is well run with polite staff. There is also a cafe in the terminal. Just follow the signs to the terminal and you can’t go wrong. The ferries we took were all on time, had a decent shop/cafe on board and, again, had polite staff. Would recommend!

Great service providing access to various islands in Scotland. Friendly staff, easy efficient service. Reasonable prices. Close to rail links and town centre.

All staff we came into contact with either before loading or onboard were polite, friendly and informative. Ferry service was on time, the ferry appeared a little dated, but clean. Plenty of hand sanitiser dispensers and passengers were respectful of wearing masks as requested.

The ferry to Oban to Isle of Mull is a short 45 min ride. The ferry has food, drinks etc. Clean bathrooms with lots of places to sit inside and out. My only issue is with the ticket situation. We tried to book online, but it's a rental car and wouldn't let us finish the booking, so we had to purchase the day of - sadly, this means standing spot only. You have to wait to see if you can board at that time or any after if there is room, but the staff did not explain that during purchase and it doesn't say on the ticket, we only knew after asking the crew working right by the dock which caused frustration. Otherwise, it's the only ferry for cars, and prices are great. Just book way ahead of time if you can.

It's a ferry terminal, what more can you say? Well organised if a little confusing on first approach. Cal Mac ferries to Mull, Shetland, and other Hebredian islands.

We planned a trip weeks in advance but as we didn't know which car we'll be driving I entered the information the rental agency gave me and checked the box "I don't know the exact model of the car and I'll update it later". As soon as I knew which car I'll be driving I went back to update my information but wasn't able to edit it as I chose to order as a guest and they don't offer any option to update your reservation if you booked that way. Fine for me I sent them an email to update my car information with the exact model I'm driving. Bad luck for me I had an upgrade at the rental agency which was 20 whole centimetres longer. The next day the friendly CalMac ferries Oban answered me that there is not enough room on the ferry for my huge car. A little bit disappointed I asked for a refund because I had only this car on my vacation and was told that I can't be refunded because I asked for it less than 24 hours before departure. 23 hours before departure. Because I was waiting for their answer. In the end I lost quite a bit of money and had to reschedule my day at the last minute because when I checked the box to say I didn't know exactly which car I'll be driving I thought it meant I won't have to be giving up my tickets if the car I ended up having was slightly different. Excellent customer service. Will definitely recommend. To people I hate.

Oban to Craignure crossing. Uneventful and straight forward, which is what you want in a ferry sailing. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The ferry itself was quite new. It looked good both inside and out

The castle is good and most is intact. Entry fee is approx £7 per person. Good view. The chapel is accessible as well but the tombs are cordoned off by a gate on one side and a neck high (5ft) wall but the place is nice and calm and pleasant. And one can imagine how peaceful the life would've been during the early days of the castle and chapel. Around 700yrs ago. All the glory.

Beautiful ruin near Oban. Didn't get in this time. There's also a chapel close by which is interesting too. Price is 7 pound for the castle. There's a tiny souvenir shop next to the castle.

Great castle to go exploring, kid friendly too. This is nice castle to see the building techniques used back in the day. Make sure you look at the base of the castle and look up from there. Inside, there's rooms to explore and some science to be had. Some hands on kid-learning with blocks and arches. Building stronger structures for sure. Don't forget the Chapel out back. The ruins are very interesting.

Lovely castle - thoroughly recommend - a hidden gem! Were able to take our dog round on a lead.

I enjoyed this castle which is mostly intact. Its relatively small but you get a good feel for what it was like back in time. You can walk a portion of the wall and the main cabin has multiple floors with a spiral staircase. The grounds are lush and beautiful.

What a lovely hidden gem , it's a place you wouldn't pass while exploring the local area in the car , but I found it well worth the visit. It's got some great architecture and quite a bit is still intact. They have activities for kids to keep them occupied. A guide book is a helpful aid it gives great insight into the history of the castle and the local area

It was nice to visit and explore around for a short tour. One sign is dissolved, but I wasn't really into reading a lot of history anyway. I liked the big chimney in the kitchen.

A bit of a discovery from a beautiful hike starting from Garavan Sands. The castle and chapel is in a bit of a ruin but the historical context well described and understood. The weather was fantastic and made the visit extra pleasant.

Great place for a gentle walk and commanding views even if you don’t go inside the castle it’s ideal for a walk with a dog, also visit the chapel in the woods, it’s a little rough in places so wear the right shoes 👞 nice bit of Scottish history to visit. Free car park a short distance away, trust the satnav as you have to drive through a industrial estate to reach it.

We absolutely LOVED visiting Dunstaffnage! The games on each level were a perfect distraction for our little guy as we spent time learning. Such a great addition!

It’s nice view but not worth £7.5 per adult and £4 per child which too much for outdoor and damaged castle I’ll suggest just charge £2 per person can make more money.

I love this castle and have been here before, but we were so close that we had to stop again.

I absolutely loved it here, not only is it a superb castle, chapel and grounds but is a great place to walk which in the most part is pet friendly. The charge for entry is for the castle which is largely ruined but has several rooms at different heights (steep climbing) with things to do for the young in all of us and the rest is free to wander including a couple of stoney beaches with great distance views. It feels peaceful here and steeped in history and the walk to the castle is scenic with a pathway bounded on one side by woodland on the other the coast. A nice little gift shop is available to buy a few souvenirs and pay your entrance fee. There is also a really good guide book full of information and the whole site is one that Historic Scotland should be proud of. It does seem a bit odd on the drive in through a housing estate and an industrial site but once there I thoroughly recommended it for a visit

Great value for the cost. Staff was great, helped provide a map and explanation of where you should go. Plenty of grounds for walking, probably spent 2 hours here just enjoying the grounds and beautiful views.

Lovely castle, with beautiful views. The castle is open all year round and free to historical Scotland members. Tickets for an adult is £7.50 for the castle and the chapel. Inside has been refloored and each of the three levels has small games for children (first floor snakes and ladders, third floor build a bridge challenge) The castle walls walk way has beautiful views of the woods, sea, beach and other surrounding areas. The chapel is a short walk from the castle in the woods and is a nice ruin.

From a historical point of view, a very important castle. Take the trouble to get a ticket and have a stroll, read the info signs and learn. It has connections with Robert the Bruce and the Bonnie Prince. Nice little bonus is the chapel close by.

Worth a visit. Small museum set within a house from 1745, with interesting exhibits and an informative guide. The castle also worth a visit, although mostly ruinous enough to see and a great view towards Oban. Point of note - very steep path to the castle would not be suitable for some.

Great way to spend 2 to 3 hours. Staff are so friendly, helpful, and amazingly knowledgeable! 1745 house was interesting, and the climb to the castle is worth it for the spectacular view. Castle is a ruin, but you can climb a narrow staircase (with rope rail to help) to the first floor and a second floor balcony. Definitely recommend a visit if you like your Scottish history. 👍👍

Went on a afterdark Halloween ghost walk there recently. Very interesting stories told by the insightful and enthusiastic guide. Was such good value only £9.50 a person. They had a great value bar and the kettle kitchen was selling lovely homemade food and cakes. There was outside seating undercover and it was decorated for Halloween, you could see alot of effort went in to decoration. The staff were all in fancy dress to and they were all so nice and friendly. On the walk upto the castle in the castle grounds we saw lots of bats to.

Had a fantastic afternoon at Dunollie. We took part in the afternoon guided tour with Alex and he was fantastic! Really knowledgeable and very entertaining. Certainly would recommend if you're staying the Oban area!

Yet again another great castle site in the Oban area that is both pleasant to wander around and historically interesting. It is ruinous but easy to imagine what it was and what it stood for. The areas that are accessible show some solid castle engineering that provide fantastic views of the coast and the surrounding areas. A few paths lead around the grounds but the climb to the castle does require a little effort due to the steep path, but thankfully has a rope handrail to assist if required and once at the top the scenery is reward indeed.The entry kiosk was staffed by a most pleasant and helpful lady who assisted with entry payment (which is a little more than other sites) and she also dealt with sales from the small but nicely stocked shop further into the visitor attraction area. Carpark is small and entry can be restricted by out flowing cars but works well with a little understanding. Did not try the cafe but did observe numerous people praising their food purchases. All in all I simply enjoyed my visit and therefore recommend it

Slightly curtailed by the current pandemic we had to book in advance. We arrived at the car park just in advance of our allotted time are were met by Alice, our guide. Alice has a real passion for this place and it shows the tour was very informative and interesting, from the old ruin, to the new house and the general history of the family. It was 90 mins well spent and even the weather was fantastic

Dunollie castle is a very nice 15th century ruin. It's interesting to explore and learn about! The walk up to the ruin is very nice, with overhanging trees and lots of greenery.There is also 18th century house next to it with it's own interesting history. The house is a museum with lots of displays of how it was like to live in it when it was built. If you are visiting Oban Dunollie castle is a worthy visit!

Fabulous grounds, castle, museum and tour. We initially thought £8 each was quite steep as most castles we have visited across the hebrides have been free but this is definitely worth it. We joined the tour hosted by Matt, a young 17 year old lad who guided a tour of 20+ tourists across the grounds and castle. Very knowledgeable guy and put the tour so well together for such a young age. The museum that showcases the family life of the McDougouls was very well put together and learnt alot about the Scottish clans and their history. Grounds have lovely gardens and there is a nice shop and cafe at the end. The lady in the hut at the entrance was extremely friendly and helpful. Thanks for a great visit

A fantastic place to spend a morning or afternoon. There’s lots for adults and children to explore! The cafe serves fantastic sandwiches, toasties and cakes if you’re feeling peckish and there’s sweeping views of the islands from the castle.

What a great day was had it's a lovely old castle with some great history, the Victorian house is an added bonus , we also enjoyed the gardens and dunoollie woods

It was great to look around the old castle ruins and wonder what else there is left to find in future archeological digs. I enjoyed my guided tour around the outside of the 1745 house and expansion wing as well as the castle ruins. It was very impressive to consider how long the MacDougall clan has held the property and I feel like it would be a huge amount of pressure to continue caring for it appropriately if you were the current clan chief.

Beautiful walk around the grounds and up to the castle. I arrived right at opening on a weekday and didn't have much time to walk the full grounds, so I headed up to the castle first. I was the only person up there on a beautiful morning, and it was a magical -and informative - experience. Staff were extremely helpful and kind. Worth the walk from Oban town center!

Had a wonderful tour and history lesson from our tour guy Jamie... beautiful gardens and cafe. Definitely a great place to experience.

It's worth your time to wait for a tour, as there's lots to learn you won't get from the signs. There's a steep climb to castle elevation - I wouldn't want to try getting a wheelchair up there. Great view, though, of Oban and the water.

Dropped on to Dunollie by chance and we were glad we did. The staff were friendly and the undergraduate conducting the tour was both knowledgeable, interesting and witty. The dogs came on the tour with us but couldn't go in the museum. The views from the castle were stunning.

Lively beach, cove-like so tide is ok for swimming, rocky area on the side for looking for critters, gorgeous little shells, clean, soft sand, clear water.

A hidden gem near Oban. Follow the road past the lighthouse at the front to Ganavan Sands. A very accomplished kite surfer was making good use if the conditions on the day of our visit. There is also a large car park with a snack van. Only had a coffee however it was very nice "proper" coffee.

Nothing special to be honest. Quite small and busy.

Really good information centre with polite, friendly, knowledgeable staff. Lots to see and do around Oban with the normal tourist guides and easy to follow maps. Some nice products to buy and premises sited in a prime location to view Oban. Strongly recommended.

The web site is painfully slow, trying to download any info is a nightmare. Please, as both my wife and myself love the Oban area, do something to speed it up

Above and Beyond. Fussy 3 year old wanted Tomato Soup. Not on the menu anywhere.... went in to ask and was offered to heat up a can if we bought some. Did that, given a nice plastic mug to drink it. So grateful, thanks to the three lovely females that helped us. Also bought something that was great value and always had a great experience in here. Scottish welcome!!!

Wow. What a great experience. We decided to do the FE2 and over the two hours, the pair of us flew 5 different hawks and a huge owl. The weather wasn't great, but it didn't stop us doing anything. Paul is really informative and explained so much about the birds. He clearly knows his stuff and takes great care of them. My favourite was the little kestrel, he was such a scamp! I also loved the Bengal owl, he was so funny and did a fantastic R2D2 impersonation. If you're wondering whether this is for you, then all I would say is, if you're interested in birds and want to get up close to some beautiful specimens, then you'll not be disappointed. If you have kids, they'll love it.

Fantastic afternoon with Paul and his Stunning Birds. We had the 1 hour experience involving some close up control with the birds - with Albus, Khalifa and possibly Zach....this contact with such vibrant, powerful and beautiful creatures is amazing. I highly recommend this to anyone looking to be that little bit closer to wild nature at its best. We look forward to returning to meet the rest of the team.

Very knowledgeable chap. We did the hawk walk and flew two Harris hawks and had the bonus of the flying show. The walk was easy enough for most people and the hawks were spectacular. Highly recommended.

We did the 2 hour Hawk Walk yesterday with Paul and it was one of the very best experiences we have ever done! The hands on contact with all the birds was over the top. Loved Gale who would hover above us and Elsa the Harris Hawk who flew and followed us through the woods. Many times, different experiences disappoint us to some degree, but not this one! It was over the top and much better than we anticipated. Paul's love of his birds was a joy to experience with him. Would do this again in a heartbeat! Thank you Paul for a most enjoyable afternoon!

This was a first time experience for me and my partner. Never before handled birds of prey but felt like an expert after. Thanks to Paul's experience and facts about the birds we found it incredible. Never before have we done anything like this but surely will be doing again. Thank you very much Paul for a fantastic day, birds were spectacular too (and toffee and Harper the golden retrievers). We had a great time with Paul and his daughter flying a variety of falcons, eagles, hawks and owls. Paul's passion for falconry really makes for an informative and exciting experience. If I am ever back in this area, I will do it again. (Remember to bring your waterproofs as the grass in the area is really high and can be really wet!)

No cars just wheelbarrows to carry stuff from the ferry to your home,no public toilets so be prepared, great atmosphere even on a soggy day

Seeking shelter from a passing shower, this delightful museum offered a warm and friendly welcome! It is jammed full of local artefacts and information covering local fishing and the slate mining industry. A visit here is a "must see" for all visiting the area.

Absolutely superb, highly recommend having a look in here before exploring the island as it gives you an insight into the history of the island and the story behind what you will see. We were given such a warm welcome

Great local-funded museum about the island's history and why it was populated to mine shale. You can visit the still-standing housing and the now-filled shale pits.

I visit this shop whenever I’m in Oban. You can always rely on it to have a lovely selection of cards and other gifts, like those pictured here, which are gorgeous and at a range of price points which is handy.

A really interesting and engaging visitor centre. All the better that it has direct sea and beach access too (see photo), plus plenty of space to picnic and generally bimble around. Dogs allowed (not cafe) and it's free. Great toilets, plenty of interactive stuff for all ages. You'll gather we liked it!

This is a lovely little find, we went in mainly for toilet facilities but then discovered the informative displays and the wonderful coffee shop. Looked to be many activities for children to participate in.

Part of the visitor centre but used by the students as well. Good food at great price, friendly service and a short walk from the shore.

Great spot for a introduction into the research done in the area and tons of informational stuff to read for all ages. Plenty of items on display you wouldn't find anywhere else. Staff was very helpful and friendly.

Cafe in this place is the reason to come. The centre is meh.. the black pudding sandwiches in the cafe though are 5/5. Dead cheap and really good. A really good spot for lunch.

Really interesting of small exhibit, week with a visit if you are nearby. We went in to use the cafe which was good value and largely home made, with friendly staff and bright seating area. The exhibit itself benefits from the connection with the by SAMS (Scottish Association of a Marine Science) providing good information through engaging and tactile displays. It's a small place bit well with a stop of nearby.

Great cafe - excellent value for money and good selection of tasty food with generous portions and outside seating where you can take the dog. The Ocean centre is very interesting and educational and dogs are allowed. Well worth a visit.

Great place. Very informative and lots of interactive stuff to do. Great for children. Friendly lady on reception. It's free to enter but a donation is greatly accepted. Cafe and toilets on site. Parking available and free. My friends children enjoyed it.

My grandson who is 9 enjoyed it... Didn't take long to go around ..But great wee cafe afterwards with lots of choice .Drawing and colouring in for younger children and then a short walk at small beach ...No tickets required

A really well-designed public engagement centre, teaching the general public about the seas and species that live within them as well as the ocean research that is conducted. It is free to enter (donations were requested and should be given in my opinion!?) with ample car parking, making it a good option to drop in if the weather is bad or moving on from Oban. The exhibits mix different engagement techniques (from self-exploration to videos to hands on lab activities to colouring in) to seek to engage and cater for all ages and learning styles.

Very interesting Centre of Marine investigation, very didactic and attractive for both young and old people

Been trying to explain the concept of bacteria and viruses to kids. The microscope and tv display there did the job so well. Displays and exhibitions there are done well and are very interesting.

A very solid looking building is the best I can come up with after seeing St Columbas while walking past , it's very functional and lacks the style that a lot of other cathedrals have but it faces the Atlantic storms head on and sums up the character of the locals very well.

Oh dear. Afraid we didn't really like this church which failed to live up to its grandiose exterior and position on the northern promenade of Oban. Because of its comparatively young age there is nothing much of historical worth inside the church and equally not much of beauty. The interior walls are bare and gloomy. There is one, not very good, painting of St. Columba. No pews, only rows of chairs and a huge space around the simple altar which would at least keep the bishop fit. And the cold!! I would hate to have to endure a service here. I know the information says that the diocese is quite far-flung but poor but really, the church has little to attract the curious traveller. Sorry.

No fancy cathedral like many but sturdy Strong building

Beautiful Building set in a wonderful location and made even better these last few days by the Visitation the Relics of St Therese....The Little Flower. Hundreds of people have once again turned out to welcome, pray and venerate to this wonderful Saint. Great choir and organist today also filled the Cathedral with lovely hymns and music 👏👏👏 fantastic all round.

My husband and I visited at the end of April during a flying trip to Scotland. It was great to find Mass at a convenient time on Saturday morning and lovely to meet a couple of the parishioners afterwards who were very welcoming. Whilst initially seeming quite a dark place, when the sun shone through it was beautiful, and when lit up for Mass we could appreciate all the beautiful details which are not so apparent in the gloom of a grey day. A vibrant parish community. I hope we will return one day.

Mixed feelings about this place… Our toddler absolutely loved the amazing playground outside. The pool is also excellent and staff were very helpful and friendly. HOWEVER, the pool opening times are beyond bizarre. And the soft play, whilst well-equipped, was full of the most feral children I’ve ever seen on our visit. I’ve never before seen punches thrown in a soft play… The under 3s area was full of 7+ year olds pelting each other with balls, charging around and climbing the netting. It was actually dangerous! So much so that I stood with my very independent 2 year old the entire time after he was knocked over twice by children far too old to be in the under 3s area. When it’s as busy as it was on Saturday, staff really need to keep a keen eye on what happening.

I went there only for the soft play with my Grandson. Turned out that the outdoor adventure park is also amazing. Very reasonably priced too.

Hasn't changed since I last visited 30 years ago. Such a poorly stocked, dingy gym. Changing rooms are awful. Can't believe the cost for such poor facilities. Staff are nice and the place is very clean.

We went for a swim while holidaying in the area. There are a lot of other facilities such as kids play areas and squash courts but the pool itself is very small. Despite lane swimming supposedly being finished by the time we arrived one area of the pool was still being used for lane swimming and what looked like regular locals were using the remaining area for the same purpose. It's a great local resource but not exactly geared up towards visitors.

Used most facilities now. All are good. Kids love the soft play and swimming. Facilities are clean and always a staff member close by should you require assistance.

Nice leisure centre with sensible prices. Public swimming times aren't always ideal but there's no time limit when your in. Made use of the gym too when I visited last year and enjoyed it thoroughly.

Good soft play for the kids. Limited seating beside it. The rest of the facilities are good. The parks out door are good as well.

Clean pool with lovely staff. Changing rooms are OK. Kids had a brilliant time.

I go to the gym here, it’s a quite friendly environment with ample facilities. Big gym too! All the equipment and outside tennis courts are maintained with high standards.

Used the gym for a couple weeks. Staff are friendly but the gym itself is very underwhelming. It does the bare minimum really. Weird posters around the place saying no deadlifting zone, where is the deadlift area? There's no platform or anything?

The staff were very helpful when we asked questions. The centre is very clean. We also had lunch food brilliant service was 1st class 👍

Very bad rules and manager, the water was very cold in the pool, me and my son went to the sauna because we froze in the pool, well the manager kicked us out of the sauna because my son was 11 years old, after that me and my son and 7 year old daughter went to the deep pool, I put swimming fins + a safety board on my daughter and they kicked us out of there too, despite the fact that I was always close to my children... the children cried and said that I had never brought them to this pool, a very harmful manager... I don’t recommend it go there with your children

Visited with family for grandsons first swimming lesson. Staff helpful. Well sign posted. Clean. Good variety of choices at cafe plus vending if shut. Noticed lots of clubs and activities for all ages on offer.
