One of my favorite places in Catalonia. This sea city features everything you need for a fun and relaxing weekend. Beaches are clean and spacious with Tiki bars, and restaurants all around the town. The views are absolutely amazing no matter where you go. Going up hill is a fantastic experience whether by train or on foot. Every step you take has a view. Although there are few ruins left of the ancient fortress, you still can appreciate the walls and towers which surround it. There's a nice little restaurant half way up the top of the hill, and another one where the light house stands at. There's also a cute museum with nice little things found in the area. Don't miss taking a picture with Ava Gardner's sculpture and the little chapel behind it and on the way back you can follow a different path with stone covered streets which lead to all the traditional restaurants and shops and don't forget to wear comfortable shoes to climb up the stairs along the walls.

Tossa de Mar has no direct train from Barcelona, you have to go to Gerona or Calella and travel onwards from there. Parts of the old town date back to the 1600's with what I would describe as 'typical' Spanish architecture. The basement of the museum in the castle dates back to Roman times where there was a villa. As can be seen from the pictures there is the original mosaic. There are beautiful views across the bay from the top of the castle and is worth the walk.

One of the best beaches i have ever been to. If you're a tourist and wants to visit beach in Spain then i would recommend to visit Costa Brava Region. This is a beautiful pebble beach. Tossa de mar is one of the cities to visit them. There are 2-3 beaches, small and big. There is a castle on the beach side so you can see Sea from some height. There isn't any fee to enter the castle. There are direct Buses to Tossa de mar from Barcelona, operated by Moventis, I don't know about the prices, but it should be around 10-15 Euros. If you want to travel from Girona, then you have to take bus till Lloret de mar (One way price 6,05, takes 1 hour) and then lloret de mar to Tossa de mar (takes 25-30 minutes, one way price 2.4 Euros). You can also visit beautiful streets of Tossa de mar.

Having strolled through the city, going to the old castle throws you back in time. You can almost see the large sailing ships, hear the cannons roar and see the soldiers manning the tower and fortress. Looking down to the ocean from the castle is amazing. You can actually see the fish and rocks going disappearing in the depths of the ocean. On top of it all - quite literally - there is a small cafe with the most amazing views. This is a very well protected wall which was used to protect the citadel for Tossa de Mar. You can walk all along this wall but not climb up the towers which are blocked. This is a good point to get a nice view of the city and the sea.

What a beautiful place. Yes it's touristy but if you go out of season like the end of June, it's not too busy and it has lots of Spanish tourists. The weather isn't too hot, the people are super nice and the beaches are lovely. There is a waterpark in Llorret de Mar for a day out with the kids and loads of nice restaurants by the beach in Tossa de Mar. Anyway.... beautiful place!!!!

Nice beach, nice views. It is small so can become crowded at times. I do wish the local government made the cruise boats board somwhere else so that they don't ruin the atmosphere of the beach overlooked by the beautiful old lookouts and lighthouse. Beautiful beach. But as cons beach clean up wouldn’t hurt this place since it’s frustrating to see some litter on rocky slopes and at the sea bottom right near shore. Seems rain water washes off garbage from town which suggests town can’t keep up with high season tourists flow to properly manage waste.

Wow, this beach is absolutely breathtaking! The golden sand stretches for miles, glistening under the warm sun. Nice, clean beach with crystal clear water. The beach has a lot of people visiting all day and hence it's lively full time. There are food outlets right outside the beach which makes it easier to stay on the beach all day. It is a pebble beach so appropriate shoes should be worn. Beautiful picturesque beach.

It is an amazing little isolated place. There are a few restaurants and a hotel. You can either go here by hiking or by a boat. It's not that far by hiking, just 1.5hrs. Boat is expensive as they are tourist boats with glass bottoms, which I would suggest to avoid if you are on a budget. The water is a bit warmer here. But there are lots of stones so a bit difficult to get into and out of the water... But once in, it's paradise. I went on a week day so there were few people.

Nice beach. Coarse sand and stones. Clear water with a rich underwater flora and fauna. Snorkelling equipment is quite recommended. At the restaurant you need wait to be seated about 30 minutes. The menu is pizza and pasta. Nothing special. There is even no any green salad. The parking is quite busy even thought it costs 20 eur a day. We arrived at 12:30 and it was a miracle we were parked. So you need to come there earlier.

A great little beach cove with an ice-cream truck, restaurant and bar. The sea gets deep quickly. We drove, but there is a coastal path. The hotel next door looks decent too.

800m walk on foot from the Hotel on the main road, cars not allowed to enter. The path is mostly asphalt, except the last 200m which are an easy trail between rocks down the cliff. Wonderful crystal sea, with even a big cave to explore but early morning to catch the sunlight.

Stunning cove in the Costa Brava region. I really loved it. It is located relatively near the town of Tossa de Mar and is known for its beautiful turquoise waters and golden sand. To reach this cove, I took a 30-minute mountain walk from Tossa de Mar, which I really enjoyed and recommend. The place is less crowded than some of the other nearby beaches, making it a great spot for a peaceful day by the sea. Definitely one of my favorite coves in Costa Brava. I'd like to return very soon!

Cala Pola is a beautiful cove beach just up from Barcelona. It is around 70 metres long and provides stunning views and crystal clear water. There is a campsite behind the beach and four the majority of the people of the beach were staying there. Although a beautiful beach, its size meant that it was very crowded so there wasn't a huge amount of space to put your towels out and sunbathe. However was a wonderful few hours spent there. Accessing the beach requires a steep uphill then downhill walk depending on where you park.

The beautiful secluded beach is worth hiking to. I started by walking to the river bank in Tossa De Mar and followed the signs for camping can Marti and followed the dirt track into the wooded hills. The hike was a bit tricky and winded upwards in parts. I came to a section which you could either carry on upwards or my decision to take the dirt track heading downwards. Towards the bottom of this dirt track there was ongoing construction of log cabins and buildings etc being built and road to them almost complete. What was frustrating was that the route down to this beautiful beach was fenced off and therefore difficult to find an alternative safe path to bypass the fencing. I managed it with some trepidation and paddled in the clear blue beach water.

For a tiny museum this place is excellent. It has two outstanding pieces. The Chagall and a Roman floor mosaic from the nearby villa. It's worth visiting just for these, but there's more art and archaeology to occupy you for half an hour or so. I loved the frog and crab sculptures, also from the villa, I think.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for two nights - first of all, location is perfect! Also, the room has all the necessary amenities one would need and it’s clean and lovely, simple but nice. The attention though is what was the very best - all really nice people who made our stay feel so effortless. Even at the end, we had to check out at 11 am but still wanted to spend the day in Tossa - so they said it was no problem for us to leave our luggage in the pensio and we could just pick it up whenever! It helped us out so much and allowed us to have another full day there:)!

An unassuming guest house with impeccably clean rooms, lovely hosts, good rates, a roof terrace with great view and nicely located in old town next to Castillo de Tossa. A short walk to town centre (why bother) and an even shorter walk to the beach (3 mins). No airconditioning, but who needs it with tiled floors and pedestal fans. Nice spot to sit and relax watching scuba divers enter and exit the sea. This beach is small but worth the walk from Platja Gran beach passing restaurants and hillside hotels. You can continue up the hillside through the back of the scuba diving centre and start the coastal walk along the cliff tops to Cala Bona (3km)and other further beaches.(4km to Cala Pola).

Our favourite beach that we visited during our family holiday to Tossa de Mar (July & August 2022). Very busy, but understandable because of its beauty! The water is CRYSTAL clear and perfect for snorkelling. We took our own masks and spent hours swimming underwater to look at the hundreds of FISH in the water! So beautiful. A lovely pleasant swim out a bit deeper too. There's a lovely man on the beach who owns a 'sun lounger and parasol hire' which was greatly appreciated. For just over seven euros you can hire a sun lounger for the whole day, and for a similar price you can hire a parasol which the attendant kindly assembles and places for you. Extremely convenient. There's a cafe right by the beach, too, which is useful for snacks, especially ice lollies (which we made the most of). Beautiful beach surrounded by beautiful Tossa with lots to do!

The beach is very nice. Water is cold which is ok if the weather is sunny. Just be mindful of you rent a chair/umbrella to ask for a receipt. We rented 3 chairs and 1 umbrella. However, we decided to ask for 1 more umbrella which was 7.50€ more and we paid with 10€ cash but the guy took the 10€ and went away. We luckily insisted and we got our 2.50€ back. We were not bothered by the money, just by the attitude. Ask for your receipt to avoid misunderstandings.

Lovely, private-feeling beach that we have loved for years! We didn’t encounter the owner others have posted about here, but the fencing situation is quite a lot to pass, and I suspect I got a chemical burn from it… 😟 it’s a week later now and it’s incredibly intense, the rash. Take care of this if you decide to enter… I don’t know what it’s sprayed with or what type of metal / what on the ground could have caused this. Officially, it seems this beach is still public. Sad situation regarding the blockading and potentially what I got on my skin…
