Brilliant team of volunteers and staff... Its like going back in time. Great trip

For me was the one attraction in the area I wanted to visit on our holiday and it didn't disappoint. A long time since I went on a steam/heritage railway but this was by far one of the best I've been to. The stations and carriages were all in noticeably great condition, with the stations decorated in the 'golden age of steam' fashion - they look great. It's gets busy, we got the 1040hrs train out of Norden and we were lucky to get a seat so get there early - there is a luggage carriage for wheelchairs/buggies Tickets can be bought online, on the platform or with the ticket inspector, kids under 5 go free (!) and adults were a very reasonable £18 open return. Journey to Swanage took about 20 mins and was very picturesque with a great view of Corfe Castle. The numerous return journies allows for ample time exploring Swanage. There are various museums at the different stations to explore and a shop at Swanage station. Staff were very helpful and a pleasure to see being so enthusiastic about working there - certainly added to the experience.

From the rush hour type bustle of Swanage to the rural idyll of Corfe Castle, pulled by a majestic West Country Class locomotive. A steam dreamer's delight, with both stations gems of preservation. Great vantage points, fascinating artefacts, friendly service and more than a whiff of transport heritage. Swanage Railway is up there with the best of British steam railways, with a lovely diesel railcar for those of us who love such variety.

Absolutely gorgeous. It's not a terribly long run but ideal if you love steam trains. Regular service and good prices.

Always love a steam railway. A decent journey to Corfe Castle (lovely village), or Norton if you want decent parking and Steam into Swanage, the opposite way round.

Absolutely wonderful return trip to Swanage from Corfe Castle. Our little dog hadn’t travelled on any train before and they made a fuss of him which he loved. Scenery is stunning and we thoroughly enjoyed it! The staff have to be commended because they were so friendly and obviously enjoyed their work. I think many are volunteers? If so that’s amazing!

Great staff to talk to. The diesel gale. Never disappointed over the wide variety of different locomotives to ride behind. In diesel gala if I mist 1 train, there will be soon another. It's fun to enjoy.

A beautiful heritage railway manned by friendly and well mannered volunteers. This has to be one of the best kept and most scenic heritage lines the UK has to offer. We have visited many time and have always has a great experience, even on poor weather days. But if the sun is shining, then it is absolutely magical. Great views of the local rural countryside. Get a seat on the observation car if you get the chance (it is not always hooked up). For £3.50 you get the best views whilst travelling in this panoramic glazed rail car. Awesome 🤩.

A beautiful traditional station with old steam and diesel engine train takes you back into time. We parked round the corner in Swanage car park costing £8 for the whole day parking and has a toilet on site and lots of parking space. We booked 2 x family tickets for up to 5 people per family for £45 each. Lots of space on train and lovely staff at the station and the station even had the old traditional feel and look about it. Once boarded on train the train visits 4 stations along the route. We got off at Corfe Castle and took a walk and lunch seeing the historic castle ruins and village. To visit the castle you have to purchase tickets but we opted to see the ruins from the path route and hill top views. The village has lots of shops to eat, drink and buy souvenirs. Was really great to hear the history and story from a volunteer who has been working on the train line for over 30 years. He was very funny and had a great sense of humour not just telling us about the train history but about the castle history also. Its a must visit, transports you back into time and worth the money. Thank you to everyone who is keeping this history alive!!

On a sun-drenched day, tracing the paths once imagined by Blyton herself, the essence of Swanage unfolds in all its beauty, offering moments of pure bliss that linger long after the visit.

Lovely afternoon out, specially good if the weather isn’t beach worthy. The staff are always friendly, the trains are clean and a joy to watch, and ride in. I have taken to riding to Corfe, having a pub lunch and riding back again (not having to park in Corfe is always a plus). UPDATE: If you're here at Christmas, go on the light spectacular trip. Great evening, whether with or without kids. And finally, nothing to do with this train, but made me smile...... Did you know reading between the lines can be dangerous, specially if you’re at a train station.

Lovely visit and good to see the staff operate with COVID measures in place. Felt safe the whole time and people where respectful of social distancing. We couldn’t stay in Swanage and not go on the train to Corfe Castle

Four miles of sandy beach, white cliffs, walking trails and wildlife galore. This is a really decent heathland reserve on the Jurassic coast. And it's honestly, together with the whole Jurassic coast, worthwhile visiting. It's really good for walking, a great picnic spot. But it's also good for water sports and coasteering.

Lovely walk today along the beach, sea was a little choppy and the wind was chilly, once you walked over to the dunes the sun was very nice.

This is a favourite place as a start of a coastal walk to Dancing Ledges and back over the top via the Priest's Way. A really varied part of the coastline with lots of birds and wildlife to see against the backdrop of the sea. The castle is a good spot if you need toilets or a cafe. It has an interesting little shop too with all kinds of things on offer. Well worth a visit.

One of my favourite places in the world! Amazing views, amazing wildlife! Timed our visit so we could see the guillemots and razorbills fledging, which we did, and also had a Raven fledgling. Tons of butterflies... skippers Inc Lulworth skipper, marbled white.. lots of insects. Such a stunning place and looking amazing where they have been doing work.

A beautiful "clifftop" country park in the heart of Dorset's Jurassic coast and located just above the west side of Swanage. Fabulous walks and views, although some walks can be on the steep side. The views out to sea are stunning, as is the surrounding countryside.

A very well looked after park with excellent information boards and good paths. All very clean and tidy. The car park is paid for and reasonable price otherwise there’s no charge for the park or the castle which has information, a shop and cafe. Great views from the coastal paths over Swanage bay, across to the Isle of Wight and towards Portland. Lot of nature and birds especially in the cliff faces.

Fantastic place to wander and walk. Accessible walk from Swanage or park at the carpark. We absolutely loved all the wooded area with things to climb and swing on. A great walk around from the castle to the lighthouse aswell.

Durlston is a fantastic place to visit. Beautiful walks along the coast with plenty of photo opportunities. There's a great variety of wildlife in the area - keep an eye out for dolphins if you're there at the right time of year! The castle / visitor centre has good facilities. Seventhwave Cafe & Restaurant is a lovely spot for a refreshment and bite to eat, with plenty of options available

I absolutely adore this place and will be returning this year to do the costal path back to Weymouth. The views are absolutely out of this world and you wont be dissapointed, be careful with young children as some parts are completely high at the top of cliffs!

Great views, beautiful walks, The castle is a lovely place to explore and we usually visit when we come to Dorset. Would highly recommend it, maybe better on a dry day but if you're an all weather person you'd enjoy it anytime of year. The cafe/restaurant is also very nice serving good food and drinks.

We loved this place. So much to recommend it for all ages. Lovely walks in material settings, lovely cream tea in the café. Fabulous views and presentations including a four screen cinema. Great architecture in the modern lower ground floor. All round wonderful experience but needed more time than we had. Free access but cheap pay parking.

A wonderful coastal country park, with cafe toilets parking and walks. It's free entry but pay for parking. I walked from Studland so didn't visit car park. Very well kept. Things for young children in the wooded areas, swings etc all wood made. Views across to Isle of Wight.

This beautiful part of the Dorset coastline is interesting to explore with its castle and stone globe, as well as a lighthouse. The coastal path is reasonably accessible and the views over Swanage and to the Isle of Wight are spectacular. There are a few bird hides and a number of benches for anyone wanting to watch for Dolphins. The cafe is good and the home-made soup today was delicious. There's a large car park and accessible paths to the castle, cafe and shop.

Durlston country park has interesting features..great views from the headland especially looking back towards Old Harry's Rocks across the bay at Swanage. Nice sitting outside on patio with coffee and cake. The Globe is an unusual feature ..worth a look if rather inaccessible except down steps. All a bit Victorian in the sentiments expressed on the walls around ..but yes... pausing to think a little about our place in the universe is a good thing to do... We didn't get as far as the walks in the nature reserve as we were short if time...but they look promising.

Lovely. Enjoyable coastal walk. Notably, very clean, well maintained, and with free toilets (nice ones) - unheard of where I live.

Fantastic place for a day out. The information centre is full of useful advice, or a great coffee shop with a terrific view and a well stocked gift shop. But the main reason to come here are the amazing costal views. Keep your eyes peeled and you might see a peregrine falcon.

We parked on the main road for free rather than use the carpark. It was a nice walk to Durlston castle. The cafe was rather expensive, it did however have nice views & was dog friendly. There are plenty of benches if you'd rather bring a picnic. There are several walks to choose from, the one we did was well signposted.

Excellent place, amazing views. Easy parking. The access was quite simple. No hiking required. Enjoyed thoroughly.

An amazing part of the coast with some fantastic viewpoints and a lovely worthwhile coastal walk. Parking at either car park is fine and reasonably priced with a walk of 25-40mins to the main feature. Plan to stay for a few hours and doing the coastal walk is well worth it!

Absolutely gorgeous and terribly dangerous outcrops. A real adrenaline rush, the kids loved it. Definitely worth seeing. There are well marked paths to the beach which is also beautiful. Studland is a beautiful village but very expensive. Swanage is a 10 minute drive so would recommend you eat there.

Old Harry Rocks, on the South coast of England, is a must-see gem. These striking chalk formations rise majestically from the sea, offering a breathtaking sight. One of my most favourite places in Dorset!

One of the iconic scenery of the Dorset landscape! You can enjoy the view Poole and Bournemouth, Swanage in the distance and even Isle of Wright in a clear sunny day. Just be sensible not to stay too close to the cliff edge.

Beautiful.. we rented a pair of bikes from near Bournemouth pier and cycled to Old Harrys .. definitely recommend it .. especially on a beautiful day

A wonderful place for a walk. Amazing views. On the way, restaurants with toilets. I honestly recommend it!

We walked to Old Harry Rocks from Swanage beach. It was beautiful weather after a week of rainy days. We saw some places land-sliding while walking on the beach. Also from the top of the stairs which is at the end of beach walk until you start climbing, there was a long muddy path…especially after long rainy days so our walk was pretty exciting! It was such a stunning view! We will definitely do the walk again! If you get close to the edge it was pretty scary so be careful with little ones who are just running towards the edge with excitement!

Great views out to sea, a nice easy walk from the car park. Don’t go too near the edge! Can see for miles around up there. An interesting place to visit.

It's a really cool place to paddle board to (when the tide is right and sea/wind is calm). You can get a unique perspective of the place. When paddling between studland and here I also saw a seal and a few fish!

Good parking available nearby, easy walk to the rocks. The landscape is surreal. A treat for nature lovers

Amazing scenic coast walk with white cliffs. Experience a beautiful sunset! In my opinion this place is better than Dover's cliffs. It's a 20 minute walk from the car park, and there is no entrance fee to the place itself. Will definitely visit again if I'm in the area.

Beautiful place but nothing too exciting as hyped about. We parked at South Beach car Park and started out walk. Don’t be misled by Google Maps. It showed 2 hour walk but it was only 40min or less depending on your speed. There are Toilets just before the walk starts at the sign board. Once you reach , there not much. Just 2 or 3 standing rocks but the views in all directions are stunning! It’s a grassy area so nice to relax for a while before making your way back.

I would have given it 5 stars. However it closes at 5pm during the summer!! 🤷‍♀️ apparently they had been there since 9am! Lucky the nurses didn’t say that too the Covid patients after they had worked a 12hr shift!! I don’t quite get why it is shut at 5pm when there are lights on it? Boscombe pier remains open, Bournemouth does! So I don’t get why this isn’t! I get it being closed during non-peak season. Peak season! It should be open! However, if you can get over the opening hrs, it is a fabulous place to be! It really is breathtakingly stunning! Very well kept and looked after!

Lovely place Swanage, pound winter parking. Sun came out so bought some ice cream. Not too busy in March. Great surroundings and walks. Beach huts here too rent, loved our stay.

Diving with Swanage boat charters. Dive facilities good with Divers Down also. Brilliant day. Sea lovely, great Viz pier was tidy with great cafe serving super food and coffee.

Well organized place - good to look at the sea and for diving. There is a dive shop with a bar where you can look at the findings from the ship wreck and eat lovely ice cream. Also recommend the café. You need to arrive very early if you want to park on the pier.

Really nice pier with a great view on the city and the city, it's really nice to walk there. The pier is long and large, so there can be many people, you will still be able to take some nice pictures

A interesting spot near the start of the costal walk from Swanage. Stopped here for a quick refreshment break as there are benches and places to rest. There are a few information boards and also a little museum/exhibit. Unfortunately I did not have time to check these out on this occasion. You can walk around the base of the lookout station and get close to the cliff edges. There is also a toilet close to here.

What a beautiful place, staff here are friendly and helpful, there is boats trips here for the jurassic coast and to Poole, lots of fish and clear water we even saw a jelly fish! A great place for fishing and crabbing too!

Run by a charity, the folks on hand were so helpful when we wanted to locate a specific plaque. Great views from along the length of the pier. Pleasant eating establishments once through the pier gatehouse.

This charity run pier is well worth a visit , with limited on site parking , there are water sports available including, diving , paddle boarding and fishing to name a few. You can also catch a ferry to Poole Quay.

A lovely well maintained pier with friendly staff. There is a cafe part way down towards the pier. On the actual pier there are a lot of benches and brass plaques set into the boards of the pier to commemorate people's birthdays and to remember people who have passed. It's nice to read these plaques. Some are funny and some are sad and there are a lot of them. It was £2 per adult to get onto the pier and a bit extra for crabbing/fishing with a rod.

Lovely views across the harbour and back to the town. You pay £2 to access the pier, and I was able to use my mobility scooter for almost the entire length. It's just the very end where you have to climb about 9 steps (either up or down) if you want to go further. I was told there was a photograph display if you go down, but I didn't do that. I went up and enjoyed the views from the very end instead. I really enjoyed reading some of the brass plaques screwed to the boards. There are so many of them! A real history of the area and its people. Stopped for a coffee on the way back and met some very tame sparrows looking for last-minute scraps before their autumn flight. A good use of my time, and my £2, I feel!

Came to the stable for the heath hack as a birthday treat for myself - the view was incredible, the horse I rode (Seamus) was awesome and the instructor was wonderful and friendly. All in all a lovely experience - could not recommend more.

Amazing tour to the beach! The trip is totally worth it, the horses are very easy going and friendly. We trotted and cantered a lot on the beach, which is a feeling every rider should feel at least once in their lifetime. We got quite lucky with a sunset as well. We were accompanied by two lovely ladies, Maddie and Kerry, made the trip even more memorable and also took us great photos!

Came down to Swanage for a little get away time and had this booked as a birthday treat. The staff were so incredibly friendly and I couldn’t have asked for a better ride. Went out on the 2 hour beach ride and it was definitely a worth while experience. I arrived and they introduced me to my ride leader and the lovely rufus who I rode. A short little hack to the beach, followed by some trots and canters along the beach, a small adventure into the water and a lovely scenic route in the dunes. The horses were incredible and new exactly what their job was, and you can tell they loved it. Staff were so friendly and enjoyed a lovely chat as we rode. Thankyou so much for the experience, will definitely be back :)

Stud land is great! Brilliant staff and fun horses. We went on a private hack with my niece so she could experience canter for first time of the lead. The pony’s are fab and the instructors are attentive. Highly recommend

Have been there twice and had great experience both times. I emailed to ask for booking, with the dates I was going to be in Swanage, and rides I was interested in. Their communication was clear and timely - around the best experience I ever had with stables.. Great forward going Clydesdale horses. If you are in an experienced group and ask for it, they are happy to do some real gallops. The area is also amazing, Old Harry is very picturesque. I will certainly go back when in the region.

Very helpful indeed. I visited with the question. 'How deep is the sea at the big orange buoy which is almost directly opposite the Ocean Bay'? They referred me to the lifeguards who have expert knowledge of the beach. The depth is variable in that area and has a tidal difference of about a meter. The depth at the buoy is between 3,metres and 4, metres high at low tide and between 4, metres and 5 metres at high tide. This may vary throughout the seasons however the information desk and lifeguards will be able to provide the latest information. They also sell fruit jams and other items.

A really well laid out and helpful TIC, the lady was able to provide lots of leaflets and ideas on what to do around Swanage and directedus to the fossil museum. We will be back in the summer 😊

Staff here is nice and helpful, and you can buy some stuff and souvenir here too. It's a pretty great place to learn more about what to do in the area and to buy a few things.

The beaches here are wonderful. Keep walking left past the seaweed and you will be rewarded with unspoiled soft sand. Good facilities too. You do have to pay about £10 if memory serves, or the option to join the National Trust which allows you to return for free. Corfe Castle is near by and there is a fantastic campsite too. All in all makes for a great little holiday.

A nice little interesting museum which is free to enter although there is a donation box and donations are welcomed. There is a television screen with a recorded programme you can watch which is very good. There are also a lot of clear information boards and some small shop window displays. There are lots of things to see in cabinets and although it's not a big museum you could easily spend half an hour in here reading everything. There's also lots of little trinkets to buy ranging from small fossils to jewellery to toys and games.

Small and friendly. Worth 30 minutes when visiting this beautiful edge of Dorset. The museum shines a light on Dorset's history of quarries and steam, and prehistory of marine reptiles and dinosaurs

Swanage is a coastal town and civil parish in the south east of Dorset, England. It is situated at the eastern end of the Isle of Purbeck, about 10 km south of Poole and 40 km east of Dorchester. The parish has a population of 10,124 (2001). Nearby are Ballard Down and Old Harry Rocks, with Studland Bay and Poole Harbour to the north. Within the parish are Durlston Bay and Durlston Country Park to the south of the town. The parish also includes the areas of Herston, just to the west of the town, and Durlston, just to the south. During the peak summer season, many people are drawn by the town's beautiful setting, the beach and other attractions. The town has many hotels and guest rooms though the number ( particularly of hotels ) has reduced slightly in recent years. Besides the beach, there are other local attractions including the restored Swanage steam railway and the Victorian pier. The town may also be used a base from which to visit other nearby areas of interest, such as Corfe Castle. Swanage's Victorian pier is over 100 years old and is one of two built, although it is the only one that survives complete today. The pier extends into the southern end of Swanage Bay near Swanage. The original Swanage Pier was built between 1859 and 1861 for use primarily by the local stone quarrying industry and included a tramway which ran the length of the pier and some way along the seafront. The old tracks can be seen to this day, inset into the seafront walkways. Pevril Point right at the end of Swanage bay is a perfect viewing point for viewing across the bay and to Old Harry Rocks. Start your walk from the Pier and carry along the Peveril Point road to the very end. The view is amazing.The town, originally a small port and fishing village flourished in the Victorian era when it first became a significant quarrying port and later a seaside resort for the rich of the day. Today the town remains a popular tourist resort, this being the town's primary industry, with many thousands of visitors coming to the town during the peak summer season, drawn by the bay's sandy beaches and other attractions. During its history, the bay was listed variously as Swanawic, Swanwich, Sandwich, and only in more recent history as Swanage. The Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site ~ this wonderful coastline which stretches from Orcombe Point in East Devon to The Old Harry Rocks near Swanage is a beautiful part of this area. Swanage Tourist Information Centre (T.I.C.) is an excellent point of reference for all visitors to the area and our friendly staff will be delighted to help you plan your holiday and find out more about the area. The main bus services are provided by Wilts & Dorset. Numbers 40 and 44 which run between Swanage and Poole, and the number 50 which runs between Swanage and Bournemouth via the chain ferry between Studland and Sandbanks. Double-deck open top buses are used on the Poole/Bournemouth to Swanage routes in the summer months. The buses on these routes are branded as Purbeck Breezers. Swanage has a heritage restored steam railway which operates for most of the year, though at the moment this only goes as far as Norden. Recent developments on the railway have seen the physical connection between the Swanage Railway and the mainline restored. The first passenger service in more than 40 years from London Victoria and returning to London Waterloo took place on 1 April 2009. It is hoped that regular passenger services connecting to the mainline will begin in the future. Limited ferry services also run between Poole Quay and Swanage Pier. These are used by Swanage residents for shopping trips to Poole's large shopping centre, and also by tourists in Poole for day trips into Swanage. The nearest mainline railway station to Swanage is Wareham, where connections can be made for South West Trains services westward to Dorchester South and Weymouth. Services also travel eastwards towards Poole, Bournemouth, Southampton Central and London Waterloo. Services to and from Weymouth and London Waterloo can be either fast or stopping services.

Cool little museum, not much to see but it gives you a good insight into the history of Swanage and how it has developed over time.

What a great little museum. So much history fitted the space. Found the video about the history of the quarrymen and the purbeck stone particularly interesting. Thank you to the lovely volunteers for keeping it going.

Very very small. Really this is a shop with displays within it. The fossils for sale come from Morocco but the shop assistant explained this before my nephew bought one. Good selection of books about Dorset and the Jurassic coast.

Kids' heaven - such a varied display of fossils like sharks teeth, ammonites and dinosaur related "stuff"! Even the adult kids look as though they are enjoying themselves. So, not just for rainy days!

Great if you like this sort of thing. Free car park just outside the village. Had a really nice walk out to the chapel, past a working stone quarry. The chapel was open and it was nice to go in and look round such an old building. The coastguard lookout was open and public can go in and talk to the watchmen who are only too happy to share their stories.

Be prepared to do walk steep stairs downwards and upwards from Chapel towards Chapman pool.

A bit of a trek in but definitely well worth the walk. This chapel is small and has a heavy sense of history about itself. An amazing place to visit and a welcome place for some relief from the cold and the wind

Little chapel where you can see and feel history. There are plenty of ancient graffiti on the walls and the place seems to be very well looked after by local volunteers. There isn’t much parking, but this contributes to the peace and tranquillity all around. There are plenty of walks in the area and no toilets available to speak of. Furthermore the views from up there are simply stunning. There is a Coast Guard watchtower right next to the chapel, which is open to visitors free of charge. The two retired volunteer workers inside are always very welcoming.

Wonderfully different way to start your Easter Sunday, The normally empty chapel has a special once-a-year 6am service (for those with good alarm clocks). You can then see the sun rising outside.

Absolutely wonderful experience. We took the half day tour for old Harry’s rocks. We accidentally booked our trip for the wrong day, and didn’t realize until the day of. They offered us a half off discount to rebook, even though their terms of service says there won’t be a refund. Very kind! Our guide Kyle was friendly and reassuring. Other staff was very nice and friendly. Kyle made good conversation, and catered to our interest in foraging and marine life. We made it to the rocks, and even got a mini-foraging tour after. Highly recommend this place.

My friend and I did a two hour kayak trip from middle beach to Old Harry rocks and back. Danni was our guide and she was amazing, really friendly and put us beginners at ease. We had the most wonderful couple of hours seeing the coastline and landing on old Harry for a little explore, absolute bucket list! I will def return and do this again. Thanks so much .

We went on the half day kayaking tour around Harry’s Rock. Our guide Kyle was knowledgeable and ensured everyone felt comfortable no matter the skill level. It was a really fun way to explore the area and I would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the area. We haven’t kayaked in a long time and were able to keep up!

We did the Kayak Wild Food Foraging, Fishing, and Feasting experience, and it was a fantastic adventure! Our kayak guide, Eliot, went above and beyond in taking care of our group and Molly, Poppy, and Olive did an amazing job serving us the delicious food at the end of the experience! I highly recommend Fore Adventure, and I can't wait to try more of their activities in the future!

Just got back from an excellent half day sea kayaking tuition course with Elliot. We had a fantastic time paddling along the bay to Old Harry Rocks. Elliot taught us a bit about the specific handling for the 16 and 17 foot Perception Essence kayaks, taught us some edging techniques, explained a bit about the wind and tides, and also demonstrated some techniques for self rescue in the sea. His sense of humour and affable nature made the day especially enjoyable and I think everyone had a really great time. I’ve already decided to return soon to do the full day tuition course soon!

Lucy was our trainer.. *Lucy shared lot of information how to Kayak and some tips for Better Kayak * She took us into near that white rocks. * View is more beautiful * She didn't allowed to getdown near that rock due to safety reason *You need more Stamina to complete Kayak tour * Pls be on time

Seaweed foraging!! What a great morning out on the water. The whole team were welcoming and friendly. Elliott took us on our tour. Very knowledgeable and friendly guy! Would recommend to anyone and I will definitely be back to do another experience!

Second time I have used Fore/Adventure, this time we did the half day kayak trip to Old Harry. We were a party of 5 but in a group of 10 with Elliott. Elliott was a great guide, knowledgeable about Studland's history, geology and ecology. We made it all the way to Ballard Point and back including running the tidal flow through a rock channel which was fun! Would definitely use Fore/Adventure again and highly recommend them.

My fiancé and I did the spring forage and feast. It was exceptional. A great day all around. Dan was funny, charismatic, and full of information. Jade, chef, and the rest of the team made us a delicious and unique meal/cocktails in a lovely setting. Highly recommend.

Used to visit here many years ago and recently revisited. Just as lovely as I remember it. Steep grassy walk down to (and back up from) the car park, or walk along the coast from Swanage. To access the pool at sea level you need to scramble down the last section of rocks, not particularly difficult if you’re reasonably fit but if you have short legs like me you’ll have to jump a short way down so be prepared. If you wish to swim you need to be there at low tide but also be aware that in rough weather it won’t be possible. Photos show the contrast between two visits, both at low tide! Respect the sea and return on a different day if it’s too rough.

Brilliant place to stop on a nice day to enjoy the view. Walked here from Swanage which took approximately 2 hours at a leisurely pace. Access to the ledge is over a small fence then down some rocky steps as you get closer. There were people also rock climbing here.

What a great experience, swimming in the sea pool. Be sure to get the tide right if you're planning a swim as it's not recommended at high tide, very strong currents. Really popular on a bank holiday weekend. I was glad there were others there as I needed help getting back up as I lack upper body strength. Wouldn't have attempted it on my own. It's popular with rock climbers too and those not able to climb down can picnic or watch from the higher ledge. Good place to see the waves crashing over rocks on an incoming tide. It's a trek back up hill though afterwards.

Dancing ledge is a great visit, but you will need good footwear and be ready for a good walk, especially when getting down to the sea. But well worth the effort, the car park is complimentary if you're a national trust member! Probably worth visiting when it's sunny - wouldn't be very pleasant when wet and cold..

Gorgeous views and not really a strenuous hike from Swanage. It was quite busy, as there were also people there for rock climbing (would love to go back and do that). There is also a natural pool that was quite fun, and it was so interesting to see all the fossils and formations of the rocks. You might need a bit of help to get to the bottom level, as there aren't any steps.

Amazing view from dancing ledge and a steep walk down is worth while. The Dorset coast line is fantastic.

Had an absolutely lovely walk to Dancing Ledge from the spyway car park. Stunning views and walked down the path and sat on the rocks listening to the sea banging on the rocks. Unfortunately couldn't get to the pool as just to difficult for us oldies to climb down the rocks. Real shame as looked inviting and a real sun trap. A bit hilly on the way back up but no rush we just stopped and admired the views.

Absolutely stunning location. .. breathtaking scenery and loads of fossils. Great to see so many people having fun coasteering (run by professional company, not recommended to do yourself)

Only accept cash! Wouldn't let parents into crazy golf area with the children unless they both pay for the games even though not playing. Simply not nice. Never heard of anything so ridiculous . No family price tickets . £8.50 a person for crazy golf!

Good fun! Two different Crazy Golf courses (separate entry and fees for each), 'kiddy rides' and amusements. Occupies a very small area, so imagine it gets crowded in peak season. Scenery very creative. Burger shack adjoining. Next to the large green space and the excellent municipal children's park.

Fantastic themed crazy golf 2 courses of 18, pirate and our favourite jurassic. It is not massively challenging, so good for young families. Great location on the sea front with parking nearby,

Mini golf was so much fun. Nice place situated by the seaside. Fun and relaxing. Really lovely. Totally worth it.

We visited to play crazy golf. I thought it a bit pricey at 8.50 for anyone over 12 but we chose the pirate theme course which turned out to be very good fun and worth the money as it kept us entertained for about an hour. Its laid out over a galleon ship so you play over different levels, and the scenery and prop are great... alot of effort has been made. All against a backdrop of swanage seafront with amazing views.

OK, so I might be too old for crazy golf, but it’s just fun. This is the best crazy golf course I have ever done, quirky, local fun. And now have tried the new Jurassic golf, more good fun and great scenery. And to finish an irrelevant joke.... What do you get when you cross a pig with a dinosaur? Jurassic Pork

Was a nice little crazy golf course, we did the pirate one. Fun that it was on two floors, decor was in keeping with the theme and looked in good order. The little food place was unusual with lots of hidden seating areas. Food was pricey and no healthy options, but that's what you get at a tourist attraction I guess. Arcade had plenty of choice, and was clean and tidy.

Played the dinosaur crazy golf. Really good fun! Anamatronic dinosaurs, waterfalls, pools, sound effects and references to the films. A good challenge without being impossible. Well done Arthur and team, a great attraction with loads of different things to do to entertain everyone. Going back tomorrow to do the pirate course! 😁

This was awesome! We played both the dinosaur and the pirate mini golf and loved both. The holes were challenging but not so much that it wasn’t fun. The staff were really friendly and we thought the prices were fair. It’s clearly been redone quite recently and has some really funny and good quality props throughout. Definitely one of the best mini golfs I have played. Would really recommend

I've been going here since I was a child. This place is fantastic! Jurassic Mini Golf is an absolute must and now they have brand new pirate golf which is just a great. It's a fantastic place to go with your kids, or with your Jurassic Park loving other half! I would absolutely recommend this for anyone of all ages. It's 10/10

Absolutely beautiful beach! Very well maintained by the National Trust! Toilets are clean, little shop and cafe, and lots of parking, at a pretty reasonable price! Lots of activities to do at one end of the beach (we visited in the summer holidays), paddle boats with slides to hire etc, but a short walk to the left and it's just unspoilt beach backed by sand dunes that were wonderful to explore! Dogs are allowed on the beach on the lead only, which was a good compromise, as a family with young children its nice to know that dogs aren't bounding about freely. The sea was warm and clear, the sand was soft and golden, best beach in Dorset!

Excellent National Trust beach ⛱️ with Great facilities including large Car Park, Cafe, Toilets etc. Dog Friendly! Relatively Safe for swimming with extending shallow water and low current. Popular for Kayaking, SUPs and other non-motorised watercraft available for hire. Can be breezy, wind break / beach shelter good idea if visiting for the day. Old Harry Rocks within Kayaking distance passing Middle and South beaches on the way.

This is one of my favourite beaches in England. Sandy, clean, and perfect for long walks. The nature reserve just behind it is just breath taking.
