By far one of the best parks, I have visited in all of Finland. Why though? The first reason is the awesome location of the park. Very easily assessable by both, public transport and cars. The park is situated at the tip of the island and the city of Kotka. The second reason is the very beautiful waterfall and the lake where it leads. By far the best waterfall that I have seen in Southern Finland. And the third reason is the beautiful vegetation of the park. There is all from beautiful peonies to cool-looking and well in blending trees.

Well maintained place with beautiful and exotic plants and flowers. I recommend visiting while they bloom. There's big and funny looking fish swimming in the lake, it's find to spot them. There's also small animal statues around the park, the kids will like them.

The Vellamo Maritime Centre is a commendable destination for those keen on delving into maritime history. The exhibition is informatively structured, with the ship Tarmo being a particular highlight, especially for children as visitors are afforded the opportunity to explore it firsthand.

Small and well made exhibitions, would recommend going with kids as well since they are not to long. You can speed through most of it and still have calm kids as you the adult get to read most of the information.

A very comprehensive series of displays. Boats, a couple of Aircraft used by the coastguards both prewar and postwar. Archeology, Forestry, Paper industry, Interesting displays for children to get involved with. Excellent description of the Sweden v Russia naval battles in the 18c artefacts. Finland's Maritime history. And computer generated video. Excellent restaurant. One of the best museums I've ever seen.

Great experience. We walked through the part of the main exhibition only (we had time constraints) but definitely we will come back to see the rest. Objects are interesting in itself, but descriptions, grouping, subjects told us much more. Some of them are really moving, like lifebuoy from Estonia ferry, some beautiful, like models, some funny. Great time travel!

Especially liked the exhibition on the Battle of Svensksund. Museum is well accessible and has a nice café, too. English explanations of the exhibits are unfortunately not always available.

It's alright, the icebreaker Tarmo was pretty interesting (especially with the tour) but the rest of the exhibition didn't have too much to offer other than some old boats on display. Worth visiting if you're in Kotka or are driving by though, especially if you're interested in ships, maritime history etc.

We had a wonderful time in the museum, including 2 kids (2 and 5 years). It is very big, meaning we didn't have the time to see all the exhibition pieces, especially the extra exhibition the museum had to offer. The extra cost for the two ships on the outside was absolutely worth it. (Especially the ice-breaker was impressive) Also the restaurant had good food, even for vegetarians, and the price is good.

Nice place. The forest surrounding the cabin has been left to natures elements, and feels geniuine and untouched. One can dream of being the Emperor while walking in the forest and enjoying nature. The cabin and the surrounding buildings and pouring water is an amazing experience. I took some panorama photographs on old vintage Kodak Panatomic X film with Emperor Franz Josefs old camera from the same time period.

Lovely wooden fishing lodge, in woods with streams running through and views of the river rapids. There is a wooden boat which can be taken from the jetty at the Katariinan Meripuisto and lands you at the jetty at Langinkoski . €12 for return ticket and includes coffee/tea voucher for the cafe at the lodge. Very beautiful place to learn about the history of Finland and the uniqueness of Kotka’s geography. It was a surprise because the lodge is very rustic and simple, completely contrasts my initial thought that it would be extravagant like any other examples of Royal Russian arcitecture. The whole premise is more like an urban park than a museum, where you can stroll around and admite the scenery.

Beautiful scenery and plenty to see for free, as only the main lodge house is the museum. Toilets are free to use. The museum entry fee is a bit on the high end considering how small the space is, that said the guides were knowledgeable and told us about the place without us booking a guided tour (our party was the only one in at that moment!).

Really good place to see the rapids and visit the river. We were there a but late so the lodge wasn't open for public anymore (closed at 6pm) but still it was good visit. There are good paths to explore the area on your own and also comprehensive signs that give you good knowledge of the area's history as Tsar's fishing place.

Oh the view's amazing! There's a distinct weird smell - prolly the fishes, not sure. Haha. But the nature's exquisite enough to make you ignore the smell. It was end of winter when we visited and some parts of the river was still frozen but the rest of the waters were moving so it's very relaxing. Really felt close to nature.

I visited this place with my wife. It’s basically a big collection of nordic fishes. And as these fish are mostly gray or black, they are not visually very exciting. The exhibition is pretty large though and well maintained. It’s also nice and cool inside.

Lots of interesting information about the finnish lakes and seas. Lots of different regional fishes. Very environmentally conscious and has lot of fact based information and practical advices on how to help to keep water areas clean and upkeep biodiversity in our lakes and sea areas.

They is also a cafe inside, which is super convenient.. It would have been nice if they had more souvenirs, like magnets.
