Amazing Sunset

Went there with my girlfriend in hopes to watch a great sunset, and it did not disappoint! The place is gorgeous, with a bunch of green fields around and an amazing view of the ocean, especially at the end of the day when the sun is melting into the water! It also has a little café nearby with some nice staff. I would choose to end my days with this view anytime.

If you are in Sessimbra area, don't miss this amazing spot. It will take your breath away. Beautiful and shocking

Scenic cliffs!

Beautiful place. Perfect for hiking.

Well worth a visit. The view over the ocean , from the steep cliffs is spectacular. It is also home to the abbey of Nossa Senhora do Cabo Espichel

Awesome views of the ocean. Nearby there is a sanctuary, light house and some dinosaurs footprints. Due to its location it might get a little windy. There is free parking lot and some places where you can get a drink and some snacks

Amazing place that gives you a good walk, fresh air, loads to look at and learn. The little wild flowers including wild thyme was the icing on the cake 💕

Beautiful place! It’s possible to go at night!! I’m not sure you can go in the lighthouse, but the outside is definitely lovely :) Awesome views and must be even prettier in the morning! The roads to get there are very dark, but it’s after a very quiet neighbourhood Space to park is not a problem, there are also some abandoned buildings that are pretty cool!! Worth the visit

Beautiful place, abandoned monastery with amazing view. Definitely recommend going end of the day for the sunset.

Beautiful views here...besides visiting the sanctuary or the Lagosteiros beach (very difficult access) don't miss the dinosaur footprints and tail tracks, not far away from there...try to visit on a clear not too windy day... Trekking around the Cape 😜 is definitely worth the effort of climbing up and down 😉. You will discover new amazing views with lots of history behind if you are in to it. Dinosaurs 🦕🦖🦖 set their tracks n footprints in this area over 150 million years ago... Still visible!!!

Nice castle, very well maintained with great views over the sea. Worth a visit if you’re in the area. The access is free. There are lots of places for parking. There’s a bar (it was closed, I went on a Monday in April) and toilets.

Amazing view of the Atlantic Ocean and the town of Sesimbra down below. I hiked the trail going up to the castle. Trail is slippery because of loose gravel. There is a nice cafe here and restroom. I spent a few hours here just enjoying the views.

Definitely worth a visit when you’re in Sesimbra! The beautiful views paired with the well restored castle provide a great experience!

Took a nice hike up the footpaths to the castle and walked around with my partner enjoying the sites, taking photos and reading the info around about the history. We visited in early December so it was very quiet, very few other visitors around. The only thing that wasn't great for us was that the little cafe only accepts cash and we hardly ever have cash with us, so we weren't able to buy anything. Make sure to bring cash with you. Most of my pictures have us in them, which I didnt want to post here, so have a look at other reviews with better photos, it was a very beautiful place.

Scenic castle overlooking Sesimbra and well worth the short drive. Plenty of history to explore and many places to take great photos. Spent about 45 minutes walking around and taking in the castle. Great short trip if you are in the area. And you can’t beat the price…it’s free!

Pretty cool castle-like fort, you have free reign over the place, it's free and you can wander easily... some walls a little dangerous without rails (my kids running along on them!), everything well laid out with explanation signs, even on a weekend not busy.

The views of the city and ocean from the castle grounds are fantastic. Plenty of free parking at the base or the 2 lots at the top. The tower, castle and Cafe are all closed due to Covid 19. However, the grounds are open to explore for free. The cemetery and the little church are all open as well. The church isn't much from the outside but is absolutely stunning in the inside with all the painted tile works. Highly recommend taking the time to walk around the castle wall walkway. Unbelievably beautiful views. Plenty of areas to sit and relax and take in the beauty.

This castle is a 20 minute walk from Sheraton Four Points hotel. It’s a moderate difficult hike because it’s straight up. However there are steps and trail is very well marked as you can tell by the pictures. The castle is 16th, 17th and 18th century construction and has a chapel. There’s a cemetery with sites dating to 1800s. There is a cafe and bathroom services. There’s no fee. It provide some great views of the bay and the castle and church are architecturally impressive.

Great medieval castle with a little hike to get there (driving is also an option). The castle itself has beautiful views. If you hike, make sure you don’t miss the steps from the street downhill, one of the photos has the entrance in it. There are about 350 steps uphill.

It takes some effort if you want to get there by walking. Very nice place, very nice view. The church definitely worth the visit.

Great castle to visit for a day out. you get to walk along the old castle walls & learn about the ruins. Also has a great ocean view of sesimbra below. (various parking spaces, Clean W/C Available, and a lovely cafe.)

Spectacular views. Very well preserved Castle and high walls. Nice Cafeteria with toast and ham and cheese. A nice Church, an old cemetery, every attraction explained in three languages and even two Bread Pitts !!

Great looking castle walls, mostly intact and you can walk around most of the walls. Not much information about it. Beautiful chapel you can go into. Amazing views from the walls.

Good beach. Hotel could do some cleaning of the litter that gets washed up on shore but otherwise it's easy to get to and relatively quiet.

One of my favorite beaches in Lisbon area, beautiful views, good infrastructure in the season (out of season unfortunately public toilet is closed, the same with beach bars, but there is plenty of bars and restaurants nearby).

there are some walls next to the beach that can help you getting out of the sun if that's your intention also, if you want to buy merch there, you will find bola de Berlim as usual plus accessories handmade - do not worry about searching for them cause they keep walking around the beach selling the merch if you live in Lisbon, there is a bus that leaves Sete Rios and stop at a 10min walk from the beach, it's the 3435 you will find restaurants nearby but I haven't tried any of these cause I brought my own food to the beach (which is allowed)

A long and pleasant beach across the whole bay of Sesimbra with all kinds of restaurants and shops close by. The water is very clean and it has small to no waves usually.

My beach almost every tear for 40 years. Food is. Great, Blue EU rating. Awesome for babies and kids as there are small waves. As for all Portuguese beaches, top-less is allowed.

Just a lovely beach! We went early so it was nıot very crowded. There are many parking spots near the beach and if you want you can rent an umbrella. The water was just perfect and the beach was very clean. There are no showers so you should come prepared for that.

It is an amazing place, really touristic, different shops and market for to buy any kind of food with good prices, I bought a cold cane of tea for only 85cent. The sea it is so clean and clear that even the water it is cold, looks like amazing for to swim in.

This beach is very beautiful and calm. I stayed more than a month in an apartment in front of the beach and I could see dolphins, and other sea animals that I can't identify. On the balcony of my apartment there was a very beautiful genet, but I didn't have time to take pictures. There are many restaurants by the beach and the historic center is very pleasant to walk around. The sunset on the beach is very beautiful.

Calm waters, really beautiful but usually very full... It has all the amenities you need, it's fairly easy to park either in the hotel park or the outside park behind it. You can always get a space in one of the concessions but if you don't want that just keep walking until you reach the end of the beach, you'll usually find a spot there.

The beach is beautiful, with great restaurants. However, it is very crowded and unfortunately there are not enough parking spaces for the number of people there.

Very nice beach. Busy on the weekends. If you are used to warm waters then you will be surprised by the temperature. The area around the beach is very active.

You may not know that there is a bar/ eating spot overlooking the bay that has friendly service, craft beers and good wines served correctly. It is a special place and I recommend it!

Great views of the beach. Our go to place for a afternoon drink and light bar snacks. The staff there are so lovely and the food is really delicious. Definitely visit their also have a small museum you can visit too.

We messaged them for a reservation and they responded very quickly. Our wait staff was very helpful and put us at ease even though we speak mainly english

The fort itself is free to enter and offers great sea views and from the main sidewalk. There is also a museum and restaurant, good for a quick stop.

The most well kept secret in Sesimbra try to enter the Fort ( there is no entrance fee ) and from there see what Sesimbra is all about! then take a Hike the Castle that over looks Sesimbra! Sesimbra the most iconic Vila in the cost of Portugal ! Come in the Winter if you like tranquility !

A great beach

We enjoyed the view from our table. Service very good. Disappointed with our food. Ordered a steak dish, and it was not fillet as stated. It's more like a slice of beef and was very tough. Had a prawn starter, which was nice. Partner had Tuna for main dish but was not very impressive. I think the location of this place is the drawing point.

Best oysters and view

Unchewable ham in sandwich, friend couldn't eat even third part of the dish. Deserts and goat cheese in filo pastry were delicious.

Amazing place a lake by the Atlantic ocean.

Beautiful lake in Sesimbra, not very crowded and with a delicious water. It's a bit far from Lisbon so if you have the chance to use a car do it. Otherwise, you will spend over an hour to get there by public transport. Or you can order an Uber or Bolt like I did (if you're going with other people you can share the trip so it's cheaper). They have toilets as well, which is awesome. Bring your own food and drinks.

Really great place! There are multiple beaches. You've got the ocean on one side and a lake like place to chill. Lots of opportunities for different kind of water sports.

Perfect for kids as the lagoon is very shallow. Also for people that don't like the colder sea water.

Don't destroy the dunes and don't throw sand into the channels. Don't bring your car near the water please. No garbage in the sand, please. Toilets ou wc's are extremely needed even if temperature of the water descrese...

Excellent place for kids. The water is warmer than the ocean and it has plenty of shallow parts for kids to play. The beach area is also huge, so a lot of people can stay in the area without feeling too crowded.

Beautiful place, with sandy beach as well as activities on the water, such as kayaking. We hired a kayak from the small place opposite. Nice cafe nearby as well. Great day out.

One of the highlights of this beach is that you can choose whether you want the beach with access to the ocean or to the nearby lagoon - this makes it a perfect spot for families. The beach is clean and not very busy which makes it a great place to enjoy and relax. Would highly recommend.

The water is warm,I love it.On summer the beach is almost full of beachgoer.

Great place to do water sports

Perfect for wind sports, not so much for the typical day at the beach. Good for small children since it has vast parts of shallow water.

Easy access, fossils in the rocks make for an interesting passtime but it is a very small beach no really suited for sunbathing

Beautiful, amazing day, water very cold, lots of sea weed at your feet. It’s a small place and you have to go through rough ways to get there (both by car and by foot). The sand hurts a bit because it is made of lots of little rocks, but it’s lovely. It has a very steep incline, not good for children, I’d say!!! The waves break hard and it’s great :) Not good for going too much to the back/deep, seems dangerous, but definitely a place to relax

This is a nice beach. Swimming is not recommended because the surf is pretty rough, but I saw some people swimming anyway. I was more interested in climbing the rocks on the northern end. On my way there, I glimpsed a few nude sunbathers tucked away behind some boulders, so be warned. The rocks were fun to climb, but not without risk. Someone was kind enough to attach a rope at a tricky spot to assist in climbing. I made it to the big rock in the picture before things got a little more difficult than I could handle.

Amazing beach in a nature reserve!! Is a magic place with beautiful cliffs and open ocean! Beach is wild and small and waves can be very powerfull and good for surf!! Is awesome place in a nature reserve! :)

Difficult to get to and pretty dangerous, but absolutely beautiful

After a long car ride on a bumpy and dusty road we finally reached the parking lot of the beach. The beach is just around the corner, about 50-100m away. The first part of the trail is very stony and uneven, so other shoes than Flip Flops are recommended. We visited in the middle of September, there weren't a lot of people. The waves were quite big though and the currents quite strong. It was difficult to get in the water and you shouldn't swim too far from the beach, there's also no baywatch or other infrastructure. I wouldn't recommend the beach with kids. All in all, it was a beautiful bay.

Gorgeous sand,calm Atlantic waters that are incredibly clear. Lots of space to set up umbrellas and plenty of options for food nearby (and toilets!). Already dreaming of going back.

Nice beach. Lots of restaurants lining the roadway and a few water swimwear related shops as well. Some parking available along the shops but more around the northern and up the hill a little ways is a public lot. And just a little further there is free parking on the both side of a cleared plot of land. No public restrooms / changing areas that were visible or signs for any. Promenade was very nicely cared for and clean.

The place is beautiful to stop on your way from Sintra. Food is very good, though, sometimes the accepted credit cards can be limited. Specially if you’re a foreigner

Nice beach. Sometimes the cleaning is not very well done. Some nasty bugs can pest you. People using it are not very tidy. Late on the day it becomes less welcoming with youngsters using it for "parties" with high music and drinking. If you want just the sound of the ocean - you can't get it. Toilets located on each end are free to use but only available mostly in pick summer. Most users like to stay near the fort's wall - but I've noticed it is there that lots of men go to urinate. I don't recommend laying on sand with pee. I suspect the clear waters get the same pee treatment. Very prominent smell of sewers and rubish on one side of the beach. Tide can go hight and the sand becomes very short but in all it is nice and relaxing. People need to treat it better and start to collect their rubish and not let their dogs's poop on the sand or leave it there. (maybe that's why there is some pesty insects).

Calm and clear with a number of restaurant options. Small playground and outdoor gym among other things. Very quiet in early June!

Nature, mog, bird sounds, quiet, loads of tall grass, beatiful sceneries as you go up higher on hills. Loads of fresh air

Beautiful place for those who love nature. The trails are not very long, but we saw a lot of birds. We will definitely come back again with binoculars. The staff is polite and speaks English. There are toilet room and reception. During the lunch break, the gates are locked, which we were warned about.

Very beautiful nature reserve. Amazing for a quick little walk. You get to bird watch and if you sign up in advance there’s even a guide. I saw this lagoon from flying over the area with an airplane. Snap a picture and then look for it on Google Maps. It is a magical place.

Check opening hours before going there. Really nice bird watching nature reserve,we were welcomed by two members of staff who helped us with a guide/information about the walks, bird watching spots and a leaflet with pictures of the birds. There is a nice path going around, I really enjoyed it.

Amazing and beautiful place! Be aware of the time they close not to get locked in or out of the place.

Many places are now payed to visit. This place is NOT. It's limited to some days per week, but as long as people don't trash or damage the place, it's excellent for bird watching and bird photography. I was told they are making some improvements to the shelters and the area overall for the next couple of months. Worth paying a visit. Also, since it's not payed, a donation is always welcome when you get there. It helps them keep it in good condition, and hopefully free to visit for longer.

Amazing place to observe birds. The lady that welcomed us was very kind and polite. We loved talking to her. The area is very well organized and very clean. Nature is simply beautiful
