Kournas Lake everyone has to visit then coming to Crete. Clear water, fishes, turtles, pedal boats and tavernas on site.

The only lake in Crete with fresh water. Totally worth the visit. A lot of Greek tavernas in the area. Parking isn t an issue. Definitely rent a pedal boat and go around the lake. 10 euros for 1 hour. You can also swim in the lake, so take your bath suit on summer.

Beautiful lake - no words to add to that. If you venture down to it you will find lots of tavernas and gift shops. You can hire pedalo boats and paddle boards. There is parking (I have seen €2 per day). The edge of the lake is a bit dusty - it’s not sand like a beach as such since it is fresh water. We have not gone on the lake yet to look for the turtles.

It is a natural lake surrounded by mountains. I came here in early January, and there are no pedal boats available. So, I believe this lake is more popular in the summer. There were some turtles on the other side of the lake, but we are unable to see it without riding a boat. Most of restaurants and businesses were closed during our visit.

Beautiful and spectacular view place😍⛰️ We saw swimming turtles, eels, colored carp. At first place water boats cost 15€ and you need to walk or ride down, so there prices are 10€ for 3 persons. Definitely worth to visit.

This is a nice place to spend a couple of hours with the family. We rented one of the pedal boats and went to see the turtles, which is very interesting for the kids. Nature was beautiful, and the lake was really peaceful. There are some shops and restaurants around as well.

Very pretty lake where you can snorkel and see different kinds of fishes! There are also several restaurants and shops present and you can rent watercycles to cycle across the lake. The water has a very nice temperature to swim and is very clear. There are multiple parking spaces, some for free and some for a few euros.

Nice place to visit even if it's raining. The view is amazing. You can rent hydrobikes and explore the lake( 10 € for 2 persons and 20€ for 5 persons). There are bars and restaurants and gift shops. If you want you can even swim in the freshwater lake. There is a free changing room.

A very picturesque lake, surrounded by green nature! It is quiet despite its popularity. There are sea bikes you can take, but you can also swim. Plenty of shops and restaurants on the road that leads to it, which means that you can have your needs met without the view getting ruined.

Absolutely beautiful lake!! I can only recommend you visit this place. Make sure you pedal across to the other side to see the carp and turtles. Great shops too and some lovely pottery to buy. You can easily spend 2 or 3 days here.

What a fabulous place, it was really easy to get to and there is plenty of parking. We saw turtles and carp which looked like giant goldfish. They are best seen on the sides of the lake so we rented a pedalo and then snorkelled. The pedalo had a ladder to get back on which made it easy.

Definitely worth the drive through mountains! I’d book at least 3-4 hours to be there and enjoy enough. First to stay for lunch at a Taverna above to enjoy the whole lake at once, then to explore local flora and fauna on a pedal boat and take a swim (at least 2 hours needed).

Agios Nikolaos is a small Orthodox Church built during the 4th century in honor of Saint Nicholas, the protector of sailors and fishermen. It is located in the Old Port of Mykonos Town. Close by are restaurants and cafes. It is right next to the sea and winds blowing from the sea make it a great experience. There is a bench where I sat for several minutes feeling one with nature and at peace. The little rocks visible in the transparent waters look lovely. A nice place if you are interested in photography.

Lovely little place to visit. The church is gorgeous but a bit tricky getting out to it. Wear trainers as it's very slippy and sharp rocks. The little town itself is lovely with plenty places to stop for some lunch,vwell worth a visit!

Lovely little chapel on the sea. Be sure to wear proper shoes when you walk out on the rocks as it can be quite dangerous in slippers when you get wet from the waves.

Lovely little chapel in beautiful surroundings. You can light a candle there (make sure you bring one with you) and pray alongside icons. There is also a notebook in the chapel where you can write your commemoration list, although people tend to write their own names in the book (as well as on the walls) to immortalise their visit to the chapel. The best time to visit to avoid tourists is early morning (we went there at 6:30am) or late evening, although it can be quite dangerous to get to the chapel when it’s dark.

At the end of a long rocky causeway is the Chapel of Agios Nikolaos and it's well worth visiting. The causeway is made up of rock chunks and it's easy to navigate your way to the chapel. I wore trainers and my friend wore flip-flops and we both got there and back with no slippage. The rocks do get wet so souls with grip might be best. Once at the chapel, it's pretty impressive and affords terrific views of Georgioupolis, the open sea and a church opposite. As usual, tourist information about the history and description of the Chapel was missing so you need to look it up.

Nice chapel with difficult access :) It takes you few minutes to get there thru path of slippery stones, but it's worth it. Chapel is accessible with possibility to light a candle inside.

Beautiful beach with clear water. Experience is unusual with layered cold and hot water. Cold water is due to a river joint. You should consider visiting this beach definitely.

Nice beach on an estuary where two rivers converge. A great place to cool off because the fresh, cold, water from the rivers brings the water temperature down (well, a level of the waters temperature because fresh water sits atop salt water). A really fun experience on a nice beach. No wonder it’s always busy!

This is the BEST beach ever! The river with fresh water from the mountains is mixing with the sea water and its very clean , not to salty. The beach is beautiful and clean with beautiful sand. There is a nice taverna to enjoy the best traditional Greek food. I really recommend this beach!😍🥰🏝

The beach is a beauty. Crystal clear , not very crowded and really really cool water ( ok, it was cold but that was very welcome on a hot day!). Although it was windy and the near by beaches were quite wavy the sea was calm in Kalyvaki. There are a couple of beach bars and a tavern but there is space for you to sit under your own umbrellas.

Lovely little beach, nice and relaxing and waters quite calm the day we went. The river runs close by. Some nice little things to explore. Loungers available with parasol for €5 a set. Take goggles/snorkeling gear if got it. Water cooler with warm spots really pleasant. Sand is nice. Clean beach. If the man selling his donuts walk past definitely treat yourself only £2.50 are massive and freshly made, a real treat ( few different fillings). Grab a nice coffee from the beach taverna and relax.

Our favourite beach in the North near Rethymno. The water is just amazing with the cold layer on the surface and warm underneath. Great to walk around the headland and look at the 2 rivers with lots of wildlife. The beach is protected from the large waves that can hit other nearby beaches. Sunbeds 7€ for 2 and extra 3€ for one more form the lovely beach attendant who was friendly and chatty.

Went here in June 2021 and found it to be a really nice little beach not particularly full. Decent taverna as I remember. Comments about the water being cold are because of the fresh water river that comes down on eastern side with a much smaller one on the west. Didn’t bother us at all and actually quite refreshing

This place is perfect! I love the hot and cold water, because of the freshwater rivers. I love how sweet and friendly the staff are at the beach tavern. They have great coffee, food, and atmosphere. The music is also great, chill, and relaxed. It is a calmer beach, but its glory is in the waters, for sure. I always try to visit anytime I am in Crete. Nice sandy but narrow beach in the bay on the other side of the main river. Went there as it was calm when the main beaches were very windy. Sea was calm and a bit cooler but nothing to complain. Very busy. Bizzarely, the lack of wind meant that it felt very hot! Has two tavernas, both very busy during lunch. Worth a visit.

Something of an undiscovered local gem. Sun beds and umbrellas available along with a waterfront restaurant. Nearby is a quirky free attraction where a local person has built impressive scale models of Greek and Cretan historic monuments like the Acropolis and the Arkadi Monastery.

Due to some logistical difficulties, we found ourselves looking to book accommodations for a group of over 30 people with less than 24 hours notice. We found lodging and we found this wonderful taxi company owned and operated by George and his lovely family. I don't know what we would have done without them. They agreed to help us get around even though they normally would not be working during the end of December / early January. They were always friendly, professional, and on time. And they went above and beyond to make us feel like welcome guests in their country. There is no need to look anywhere else. If they are available, use this company for your transportation needs while visiting Chania and/or the surrounding villages!

A friend and I were brought to the airport yesterday 9th October. Our driver was Lefteris. When he dropped us to the airport I realised that I had left my jacket in the back of the taxi. I went outside but the taxi was gone. While I was waiting in the queue to check in Lefteris arrived and found me in the queue and handed me my jacket. What a service. One of those crazy unique beaches in Crete. Doesn't have a beach, but a cool place made from tiny pebbles where you can sit. You can take a short walk on the side of the mountain for some huge calcite rocks.

You need to go there. Omprogialos is beautiful place with clear turquise water. Don't forget to take the diving equipment with you. There is a Taverna, so you can also find some refreshments or snacks, but we didn't tried it. Parking is free and the road is nice and in a good condition, so dont worry about the car.

Very small rocky beach with magical blue waters - good for snorkeling 🤿. You can lay your stuff on the steps leading to the water - you can as well forget about laying under an umbrella, as there's absolutely no space for one. There's a place to eat fish with views of the beach. Parking is limited, you end up parking on the side of the road.

Nice and not crowded beach near Chania. The water is crystal clear and blue with little fishies. The tavern is also nice. Affordable prices and fresh sea food. We particularly liked shrimps and grilled octopus. The road to the beach is maintained and there is parking space.

Perfect location for a lazy afternoon. If you are a strong swimmer then the swimming is great - straight off a jetty and into deep blue sea. The tiny taverna just above the bay is great - you can pick the fresh fish you want and they cook it then and there. Local wine, great meze. Just perfect. Far enough out of the way to be over crowded. Seek it out.

Beautiful shop with unique items from Crete artisans. Love their bags, postcards, scarfs, T-shirts, jewelry, beach towels and pottery. Colorful raki sets are a must-buy item. Owners are wonderful and friendly and share great information about the seaside village of Kalyves.

Highly Recommended! It has been an amazing day! We went on a trip with the captain and his wife on a 4,5h morning trip and it turned out to be the most memorable adventure we have been on during the whole vacation. We had meals, drinks, Raki and everything else you can probably think of. The actual trip took 30min longer than described on the website and the price of 40€ for each person (adult) is unbeatable. We will definitely return!

It was the best part of our vacation in Crete. I was looking for different options and have to admit that it wasn't the cheapest one, but it was worth every penny spent. The crew was fantastic, taking us not only to beautiful places but also sharing local stories. We had a wonderful morning boat trip with Yannis and his father. Everything was well organised and we went to three beautiful swimming spots: one where you could swim to a little church on shore, one spot good for fish and another with a cave to explore. Snorkeling equipment was provided as well as a small lunch and some drinks. Highly recommend if you are coming to Kalyves or the surrounding area - when we come back we'll definitely try the sunset cruise! Booking is recommended as they will get booked up quickly.

The tour was pretty packed since there is a lot of interest but we were serviced efficiently and with some tasty sandwiches, salad and fruit. The best was actually the sunset, it was magical and we saw a full moon rise as well. Thank you for the memories!

It was a very pleasant and fun boat trip. The captain made 3 swim stops. Our 10 year old daughter really enjoyed jumping into the sea from the boat. Everything was prepared: drinks and snacks, masks for snorkeling. Very friendly owners. Highly recommend!

Very nice moment one the boat of Yanis and with Nikolas. We take the option of 5 hours of boat and 3 stops to enjoy the sea and swim. Yanis and Nikolas have prepared food, cocktails, water and wine. Do not hesitate to go!

10/5 stars for Nicos and Janni - the best captains for our trip. We booked a private tour for 9 people, had 3 stops for swimming and snorkelling, some sandwiches and fruits. We went on the highly recommended morning cruise and enjoyed every single moment. Great friendly staff (captain and his nephew). Amazing beautiful spots for swimming, snorkeling and jumping into the water. We enjoyed the snacks and drinks after each swim. A most perfect day!

Captain Yannis is super friendly (and the rest od the family, too) and makes sure clients are happy with their experience. Since the water is rather cold in May, we went on a different route than usually and it was gorgeous. Definitely recommend, going on this cruise is a must!

Absolutely amazing trip. We went on the morning trip and it was all you could ask for - the crew took us to great spots to go swimming, the water looked picturesque for colourful pictures, we were treated with nice refreshments. One thing that highly stands out are the organisers themselves. They have done everything to keep the trip entertaining and welcoming and I would recommend to go on a trip only to experience the astounding Greek hospitality. Highly recommended!

The Monastery is a very nice but short visit. You won't need longer than half an hour in my opinion. there is parking just outside and it was free when I went in. The ruin is interesting and great for some pics. The buildings close by make for some nice photos too. It's a good stop if you are on a day out sight seeing.

On the way to plakias, we made a quick stop to the this monastery in ruined. We were welcome by 2 lovely old lady that explain us the place. The entrance is 2€/pax. There is the church and her beautiful yard and right on the bottom of it the old monastery ruins. You will spend 10 to 20 min in a nice atmosphere.

Very peaceful and tranquil. Worth the two euros entrance. The church is tiny and smells strongly of incense which took me back to my Catholic upbringing. We were given a present of a slice of brioche bread each - wonderful.

Worthwhile stop on your way to Rhetymno. 2 euro entry, which also gets you a free glass of water, olives and bread to taste. The bread was really good! Short walk around but the fallen buildings were pretty in a rustic way. The Monestry sits in the middle of nowhere and is very peaceful. People were friendly and tried to help when we had questions. Important when driving a while whilst drinking lots of water, they had clean bathrooms. Highly recommended!

Excellent choice of lots of different types of foodstuffs, teas and seasonings. Friendly helpful staff. If you are looking for any kind of nuts, seeds, herbs, spices, powders/flours, teas or dried fruits, you can likely find it here for a good price. They also sell coffee beans (which can be ground upon request), wine, Greek cosmetics, international foods, kitchen wares, all manner of souvenirs and lovely hand-made wooden crafts. Additionally, they offer advice and assistance regarding things like insurance, property management and administrative issues.
