Thousands of human bones arranged in intricate patterns, chandeliers made of skulls and dim lightning create a chilling and haunting atmosphere. A humbling reminder of our own mortality. Wanted to visit the place ever since I have seen it on the pictures over 30 years ago.

Small and nice town a bit away from Prague. Better to go with car. Parking is available. Couple of churches and the famous bone museum. Bones are real by the way 😫

Worth a 1 hour trip on train from Prague. Train was late like 20 min, so pay attention. Once you're in Sedlec it's an easy 15 min walk to the church. Tickets are not sold there, you have to go back about 200m and buy it in info building. The amount of bones and skulls will send chills on your spine.

One of a kind place in the world, I must say. Just amazing. Made out of human bones and skulls, this ossuary is a remarkable place to visit. Remember, they do not allow photography inside now as stupid people have abused it as some kind of a haunted place on a social media. You can either visit it first before entering the town or plan it at the end of the trip.

The ossuary is a small basement, can be seen in 10 to 15 minutes. Nevertheless, the trip is worth it. The cemetery has a lot of interesting information too, and the Mary’s Ascension Cathedral is very close. Good visit spot.

The big attraction in Kutna Hora. Interesting church with bones inside. We purchased our tickets in advance but there is a ticket office down the street from the church. We took the train from Prague and a short bus ride to the church.

This is worth the trip from Prague. Very easy to get to by train! Make sure you buy your tickets from the information centre before heading up to the church as they don’t sell tickets at the church. Although the church is full of bones it is not “creepy” in anyway but instead quite spiritual. There is no photography allowed. There are guides you can hire from the town to give you a tour however the audio guide you can get inside the church along with the pamphlet is all you really need! There are souvenirs at both the I go centre and in the church at reasonable prices and helps keep the church “alive” as they get no other funding! The lady at the info center is super helpful!

I came to this country just to see this and was more Amazing then I expect, wonderful and unbelievable art… I’ll be back when they fish the restoration but still it’s almos 90% done and it’s look awesome 👏🏼

My first recommendation is to buy a digital combination ticket online before you travel. The ticket is valid for up to a year, so you don't have to pick a date. They don't sell tickets at the ossuary, so if you have a digital ticket with you, you can just scan and go and don't have to make your way to the visitor centre 150 meters away. If you like ossuaries, you'll love this one. It's definitely macabre, but so beautiful! Bones and skulls have been arranged into intricate sculptures and decorations, it's stunning to look at! It's a rather small church, but if this kind of thing interests you, you'll have plenty to look at. It's currently under renovation, so parts of the church are blocked off with scaffolding and tarps, but it's still a stunning place to visit. Very close to other sights in Kutna Hora, so absolutely worth the trip down.

Nice church/monastry. Uniqe; the posibility to walk on top of the arched ceilings. You can see the structural works wich almost nowhere is allowed. Free entrance. Enough parkingspace ,also for free.

This small place is an exciting place to visit in a small town an hour and a half away from Prague. Honestly, the ticket price is a bit pricey while students' price for a Prague Castle circus ticket is only CZK 120.

Fascinating and beautiful place. No photos are allowed inside but there is a small gift shop which sells a couple of postcards with images from inside the chapel.

You are not allowed to take pictures inside. You have to buy entrance tickets either online, or around the corner from up the street there is a store that sells entry tickets. A standard ticket gets you entry into sedlec ossuary and a church around the corner from where you buy entrance tickets from. Highly recommend going to that church as well.. the paintings are stunning.

This place has its own unique way to show you the darkness. I did remove one star, for the considerably over priced ticket for this small place. I removed another one, the place was even smaller due to construction, the cost is covered from the tickets currently sold. Additionally, a very short version of history is shared for the visitor.

I've visited twice over the past year and it's an impressive sight and quite a unique place. Note that taking photos is no longer allowed. The place is under renovation as they are cleaning/restoring some of the bone piles and there are support ls to keep the church safe. In the season it can be really busy as busses full of tourists can be dropped in regular intervals. Buying the ticket online makes it easier to get it, and not wait at the ticket office, which is down the street.

Not worth the admission. The actual place is very small and lacked information. Can finish the visit in 5 minutes but takes over an hour to get here from Prague. Also, photos are prohibited but no one enforces it. Just don't be obvious.

There are some nice views and it’s interesting to see the irfan from the back - not what I would have pictured! The grounds are nice to walk around or sit and have lunch.

Magnificent. Feel so ancient yet strong holiness around. It is amusing that the history of this great cathedral was from the working class, not the royal family! In this case was the mining worker in Kutná Hora centuries ago. The interior was well kept with some fault to show how ancient it was. It will be cheaper if you buy the ticket in a bundle with the Sedlec cathedral+kotsnice.

Nice museum. Had an underground tour in English. Guide is knowledgeable. There's a bathroom

This tour has great potential. As an English speaker on the Czech language tour (found that part out once it started) I was handed reading material while the tour guide discussed everything else. This was fine above ground but was frustrating in the tight spaces in the tunnels hunching down to wait for others to listen to a description I had already read. The extra charges are a bit much too-you definitely want the jacket but they are not cleaned between users as the fee suggests, I didn’t pay extra to take pictures.

We came from Prague but there is not much to see in the museum. For the "exhibit", I would give one star but since the museum had description materials in English and French (with grammatical mistakes), I am awarding two stars. All in all, it is not worth of making the trip.

Their hours change every month apparently. The staff were so rude about it too. I was so upset and they were just like “yah it’s on our site too bad”. Well their sites layout is also very confusing and counter-intuitive. Glad to see I didn’t miss much I guess from the other reviews. But what a waste of 4 hours on a train

I had an exceptional experience at the silver mine with the underground mine tour. The guides were truly remarkable and their knowledge about the mine was awe-inspiring. One guide, Renata, went above and beyond by taking my English-speaking boyfriend aside for a private lecture in English, ensuring he didn't miss out on any fascinating details. The attention to detail and personalized service made us feel valued and special. The entire tour was well-organized, informative, and engaging. From start to finish, everything was great, and we left with a deeper understanding and appreciation for the silver mining industry. Highly recommended!

200K for a 90 minute medieval silver mine tour in English. A little rushed at times and not always easy to hear but nevertheless recommended for something very different. Tunell was narrow and low for about 20m otherwise easy enough - unless you are oversized or very tall then forget it - people do get stuck the guide advised. You wear helmet and it is necessary as you will bump your head. Also wear sensible footwear as it is wet down there. Maximum depth was 35m.

This was totally awesome I did the mine tour and the museum, the mine is very interesting but not the place for claustrophobics, obese people(too small inside) or people w heart problems. Really nice tour guides, one of my most interesting experiences in czechia.

Amazing experience, with a kind and knowledgeable guide. When I arrived at the museum, the final tour of the day (in Czech, and I only speak English) had already begun 15 minutes earlier. Rather than turn me away, a guide at the office personally guided me through the mine in English, following behind the Czech group. She was incredibly knowledgeable and provided interesting facts about the mines and it's workers through the years. The tunnels stretch on for untold miles, honeycombing the earth. This is truly an experience to remember.

Actually, my trip plan to Kutná Hora did not include this cathedral, and it was just a stop-by. The architecture inside is impressive, and some sculptures are also inside.

On the site of an earlier Romanesque church, a Gothic basilica was built in the 13th century. The building was damaged during the Hussite war and the monastery damaged by fire. The restoration of the church was finished in the early 18th century. It’s a very large building and with a cold, impersonal feel despite the ornate decoration and many windows. Do the walk up to the attic above the side domes to see the nail-free woodwork and the view down into the church.

Although this cathedral is less known compared to St Barabara, this was my favorite cathedral. The high vaulted ceilings and the simplicity of lines take your breath away. Visitors have access to the second floor and the attic, which is extremely unusual for religious buildings and makes this cathedral feel more approachable compared to others. It also is not as crowded which is very refreshing. A must see.

I didn’t like this church. It was very underwhelming compared to more elaborate cathedrals one can enter across Europe at no cost. I liked the art in the attic, but there was no information or context provided, so I am not sure the significance. It reminded me of art seen at World of Franz Kafka in Old Town Prague.

The cathedral is much bigger than expected. But it feels weirdly plain without any vitrage windows, fancy lights and so on. You can also walk to the upper floors and under the roof.

A neat Cathedral. One of many places to see in this town that you could honestly spend a whole day in. They have little exhibits and some neat artifacts. You buy the tickets to everything at a little building right near this cathedral and then you can go to the Ossuary, St. Barbara’s Cathedral and more! Definitely worth a train ride from Prague, or a car trip. Be sure to go up the stairs which are about halfway up and to the left.

Remember to purchase your ticket at the info centre before going into the church. The church is still being restored but some pieces are amazing to see.

Sedlec is currently a part of Kutná Hora. In 1142 twelve Christian monks, invited by the nobleman Miroslav of Markvartice, came here. The monks were supposed to build a monastery here, which became the first and oldest monastery of this order in the Czech Republic. + pretty architecture and art + interesting view on the construction of the ceiling through the attic + art collections all over the church and attic

The ticket for the church can be bought in combo with other places, from the information center. It is a big and very beautiful places especially the ceiling

It's a nice cathedral, included in the ticket price for the Bone Church close by, you can walk up to the balcony and walk through something looking like the attic, it's a nice little visit

Definitely worth stopping by after the Cathedral of St Barbara. In the winter, unfortunately, they turn off the water but still worth a visit

Kutná Hora water sources played vítal role in its defense. While the stream (today's Vrchlice) typically serving as the water supply to the atracking forces was polluted with the liquids from the silver mines and poisoned the warriors of the agressor, the defence of the city relied on the streaming of fresh water coming from the hills. The Stone Basin is the last relic of the city water supply system.

Lots if history in area , well built to hold clean water as local springs were contaminated. The date on the well is not as we read it as how numbers were written was different then.

It was okay just a small monument of stone fountain, no actual water running and you can't even go inside as the door is locked. You can basically see a round well type thing in a small square.

There is nothing much to see, no water or anything. It's very tall and you only see the outside walls. It seems at night it must look nice since it has lights all around it but during the daytime it's not much of an attraction after seeing St. Barbara's Cathedral.

Not much to see here. It's a pretty interesting place from the outside, but you can't really go inside or anything. However; there is a cool window to see these strange structures inside. The place does look pretty cool compared to it's surroundings. You might want to give it a look, if you're around. Otherwise; I wouldn't pay extra attention to it or focus on it too much.

I visited the Italian Court today, and a lovely lady gave me a very detailed tour of the whole place. She was very patient and friendly, and knew everything about the history of Kutná Hora and all the details of the place. She also gave me insight into the locals and traditions of the city. I must sincerely apologize that I didn't get to properly thank her for the amazing tour as I was rushing for the train and completely forgot. I hope she sees this and accepts my apology:) I strongly recommend a tour of the Court to everyone visiting the city.

The Italian courts is a nice place to visit in Kutna Hora with a very peaceful environment. The inside has detailed roofs and nice paintings in different rooms. Probably I found it a bit pricy for what it's offered (I'm Italian if that might help ahah). If you're curious you can consider vising this place.

It's kind of an okay experience. Not so great. If you have visited the Hradek museum, it simply can be avoided if you are short on time. Tickets are available on the first floor, and please don't get confused with the other building. It's actually an administrative building.

TLDR: Annoying person who doesn't like you come to visit the sight and would rather like if you did not come at all... Probbaly our bad luck, but the lady at the ticket desk was really, like really mean to us for no apperant reason. She looks like she was ofended that she need to be there and that we even show up to see the exhibition. When we politely ask her for 2 ticket she annoyingly replay "You really want to go in? why don't you google it up?" (no joke). Well duh obviously we want to go in when we came to visit this sight... Nevertheless we bought the ticket and the tour was also very not worthy it half of the exhibition were missing or broken. But not to be too grumpy some of the personal was really helpful and nice but that lady at the ticket desk... no words

Only had a little wonder in here but it was stunning and is totally worth exploring more while you’re here. There is a FREE toilet nearby too which is just a blessing. Recommend

They have devided that small site to 4/5 parts and sell separated tickets for each part. When we were there only one part was open to visit! And you have to be patient, because some ticket sellers tend to fight with you since the very first moment they see you 🙈🙈

A wonderful piece of Czech history. Be sure to take the guided tour to see the palace and chapel. The lady who gave me my tour spoke good English and was very knowledgeable.

The Italian Court is a former palace in Kutná Hora. Back in the day, Kutna Hora was a major silver mining town and became the seat of the Central Mint of Prague in the Kingdom of Bohemia. The building was named after the Italians employed in the minting of coins, but the building is unquestionably in the style of an Italian Courtyard. The building and museum is worth a look if in the city, but check the opening hours because the museum has limited opening hours.

If you took a tour to Kutna Hora, you should visit Italian Court. It was former Royal palace and Royal mint. Check the museum times as some renovation work is going on there during January 2020. You can see a statue of first President of Czechoslovakia Mr.Thomas Masaryk in front of the building.

The guided tour was professional. The facts and the history are presented well. There is also a short video to watch. Here you learn why the entire town of Kutná Hora came to be, but it is not the only place you'd stop by in Kutná Hora. Note that this is not the place where you get to mint your own coin.

They don't sell tickets at the ossuary, so if you have a digital ticket with you, you can just scan and go and don't have to make your way to the visitor centre 150 meters away. This small place is an exciting place to visit in a small town an hour and a half away from Prague. Honestly, the ticket price is a bit pricey while students' price for a Prague Castle circus ticket is only CZK 120.

Fascinating and beautiful place. No photos are allowed inside but there is a small gift shop which sells a couple of postcards with images from inside the chapel.

You are not allowed to take pictures inside. You have to buy entrance tickets either online, or around the corner from up the street there is a store that sells entry tickets. A standard ticket gets you entry into sedlec ossuary and a church around the corner from where you buy entrance tickets from. This place has its own unique way to show you the darkness. I did remove one star, for the considerably over priced ticket for this small place. I removed another one, the place was even smaller due to construction, the cost is covered from the tickets currently sold. Additionally, a very short version of history is shared for the visitor.

I've visited twice over the past year and it's an impressive sight and quite a unique place. Note that taking photos is no longer allowed. The place is under renovation as they are cleaning/restoring some of the bone piles and there are support ls to keep the church safe. In the season it can be really busy as busses full of tourists can be dropped in regular intervals. Buying the ticket online makes it easier to get it, and not wait at the ticket office, which is down the street.

Not worth the admission. The actual place is very small and lacked information. Can finish the visit in 5 minutes but takes over an hour to get here from Prague. Also, photos are prohibited but no one enforces it. Just don't be obvious.

Honestly, I felt it wasn't worth my time, for the visit which had to be guided but where the guide didn't speak English (ok, fair) and basically followed me (I was there only person) through the few rooms while I read and English pamphlet. Why did I even have to wait for a tour? The displays were meh... The main silver museum 5mn away was much more interesting.

It is, without any doubt, one of the most beautiful buildings I have seen in Czech Republic.

Let me put it that way - if you are deep into that kind of stuff you will like it, if not better go elsewhere. If you plan to visit this place make sure to check it out on a guided tour, otherwise it is not worth it.

I visited the exhibition "State of mind" second time and still consider it great eclectic mixture of different artworks, mostly paintings or mixed media; old but mostly contemporary. Stanislav Divis and his Flowers from paradise are contemporary and visually pleasing. If you are visiting the gallery with kids (which i recommend), spare some time for Visual playground in the first floor, right wing of the building. One hour is not enough.

This is a remarkably good art museum for a small city like Kutna Hora. It's campus is next to the famous cathedral. I spent 15 min in the cathedral and more than 3 hours in the art museum, including some time in the garden and the coffee shop. The artwork in the permanent exhibit is arranged by themes, such as hope, friendship, freedom, mind, and many more. The pieces of art on a given theme are accompanied by interesting quotes on the specific theme, quotes by prominent Czech and world thinkers. Thus, the exhibit is bi-modal, paintings and text. I think this gallery alone would justify a visit to Kutna Hora. An old town stroll would be a nice complement to the gallery visit.

The inside of this gallery is super beautiful to watch, with a minimalist vibe in the corridors. Some rooms are super detailed on the roofs so I suggest you to have a walk around. There's also a bar in the inside where you can sit and enjoy some peaceful time. There are many entrances and it's located next to the main church. Take a look at the pictures so you can have an idea about the place. Enjoy it ;)

I think I spent way too much time here, because it was so good. I came here because of a temporary installation of art pieces by Válovy sisters, but I've looked through the entire gallery and i very much enjoyed it. It was wonderfully curated, art pieces were divided by themes and complimented by thought-provoking quotes. Also, if you come here, don't forget to stay at the local café, as it's also very good and helps you refresh yourself after hours of looking at art.

Beautifully maintained building. We visited during summer,so we can see beautiful flowers and butterflies. The structure has beautiful Empire style looks. Functionally, the castle is divided into three parts. The main (central) building with exquisite halls was the residence of the family, with two quarter circle adjacent lower wings with pillared colonnades where the guest rooms were situated. To those wings were connected other pavilions. In the right one is situated the mansion's chapel and theatre, which were finished in the first half of the 19th century. In the left one, there is an extensive library dating from the 16th to 19th century. The castle is surrounded by a vast park that was founded already in 1789, according to the plan of famous Viennese botanist Nikolaus Joseph von Jacquin (1727–1817).

The column is supposed to be a reminder of the plague of 1713-1715. I can't read Czech, but I don't see any reference to the plaque on the column at all. It does however look like a typical Marian column with a sculpture of Mary at the apex of the column which has been sculpture to look like clouds and cherubs to look like the assumption of Mary. At the base of the column are four saints, although I could only identify St Sebastian. The monument is well executed and is worth a look when visiting the city.
