What a fantastic place to visit! We have visited quite a few vineyards in France and England but never a Bodega in Spain. We were very lucky to choose Bodegas Muga. The tour was really interesting, as Muga is the only one to make it's own barrels. Seeing how the barrels are made was an added bonus, also the selection of Oak trees and the buying process was very interesting. Sasha, our guide was incredible. She knew so much about the wine making process, the cooperage and the wines. Good luck in your WAST exams!! Manuela, in the shop was also very helpful. I am now looking forward to the many bottles of wine I have in Bertha, our motorhome!!! We will definitely be back. If you only have time for one visit then choose Muga!!!

The bar was great for tasting wine. There were only four chairs but it was okay for me coming alone. I chose a wine flight of four reds and a with or a rose. Rose was a boring Provence style wine. First red Muga is sold in Spain as Crianza and elsewhere Reserva. I haven't liked it before and I didn't like much now. Next wines very more interesting and brought me in my memories to my childhood home. Overall Muga was a real good experience and exceeded my expectations.

Excellent tour of the winery where you can still feel the tradition and production is of top quality. Interesting to learn about wines and even see how the batrrels are made. Probably one of the last cellars where they do that. The guide Sasa was very knowladgable, atentive, entertaining....And the wines we tasted all good, especially the red ones. There is also a shop and a bar worth to stop by.

We were visiting from NYC and meeting our family for a special family reunion. We were a group of 15 (2 grandparents, 8 adults and 7 teens/young adults). Thank you Miguel for helping us organize the tour/lunch and thank you Manuela for a great tour. The lunch at Muga was a particular highlight of the trip. It was set up in a beautiful room with a big round table(with a lazy susan in the middle) that accommodated everyone. The service was super friendly and the chef was very accommodating, (as you can imagine in a group of 15, we do have some picky eaters) Everything was delicious, but the pochas were the best we had during the trip. Needless to say that the wine pairing was exceptional and flowed freely during the 2.5h lunch. If you have a big group this is a must (think minimum is 8-10 people).

Had an amazing time at Bodegas Muga! The tour was absolutely fascinating, offering a deep dive into the winery's rich history and culture. What sets Muga apart is that they're the exclusive winery in Spain crafting their own barrels, which adds a cool and distinctive touch to the experience. capping it all off, the wine was truly stellar! If you find yourself in Haro, it's definitely a must-visit.

Massive winery offering tours scheduled in advance. Interesting to learn about their production and see their Cooperage as they're the only Winery in the area that makes their own barrels. Tasting is 10 euros per person and includes a sample of 2 wines one white and one red, and you keep your glass. Overall felt fairly commercial but still worth a visit.

Our first time at Haro, wanting to taste wine but not sure where. So many wine cellars and we only had 1/2 day to spend in Haro. Wine Cellar “Muga” attracted us due to the fact that it’s the only cellar in Spain with a master cooper and three in-house barrel-makers. We got there at 1pm and the last wine tour was at 12:30. We decided to buy 1 bottle and drink it in the terraza, there at the Cellar. Jose, the wine server, went above and beyond. He explained to us the wine process, from the beginning of harvest to the end. He took the time to share with us his immense knowledge; something we will cherish for life. Thank you Jose, thank you!, thank you, thank you. From the bottom of our heart, thank you! We ended up meeting one on the owners and he was so nice and kind that he spend a few minutes of his valuable time, with us and even invited us a bottle of wine and a “tabla of chorizo” sooooo good. Overall, this was THE best wine experience we have had. We highly recommend this wonderful place to all!!

Visited Bodegas Muga with some friends from Barcelona, and had a great tour. Our tour guide, Sasha was very good, and for an English tour, she did amazing. During the tour, we got to see an active, working winery… From the fermentation to aging to bottling, which they were doing as we visited. We also got to see the wine cemetery and the barrel cooperage areas. The end of tasting was well balanced with a white, young red and a Crianza. We also, tried a Grand Reserva Vino Tinto afterwards in the tasting room. Well worth the $ for the tour, plan on 2-2 1/2 hours.

Road-trip: La Rioja, Haro - this traditional and highly regarded winemaker is located in the heart of La Rioja in Haro. It offers guided tours as well as other activities (advanced reservations recommended), a wine bar, a tasting room and a restaurant. You can also pop in to buy some of its prized wines. Tip: Staying in the neighboring town of Briñas, you can walk along the Ebro river to Haro and it’s world class bodegas in less than hour. If you choose to drive, there’s a large parking lot across the street.

We have a very pleasant experience during our visit of the winery. Our guide Sasha gave us a lot of interesting information on wine processing we have no idea before. Degustation was a nice finish of the visit with a possibility to continue in their local wine bar. Definitely worth visiting!

A superb visit to the Bodega, however my favourite part was the visit to the companies very own Cooperage, a real surprise to see such craft work being performed on the premises. A very informative visit which was enjoyed by all. Thank you to our guide Sacha.

We managed to walk in at 1pm on Sunday even though we didn’t have a reservation. Wine flight tasting was €12 for half glass portion and it could be shared amongst 2 people. We tried an extra glass of wine that was excluded from the flight and was pleasantly surprised. Walked out with 3 bottles of wine (could’ve been more but this was only our first stop), and was truly satisfied. The staff over the counter was amazing and very friendly, answered our questions happily and explained them thoroughly. I didn’t get her name but the other staff was just as fantastic. Overall a great experience and I would recommend for anyone to visit!!

A nice place to visit and try some top quality Rioja wines. Raphael Lopez de Heredia is known for its Tondonia vineyard, and most of the wine lovers use “tondonia” to redder to this winemaker. We visited the winemaking area and barrel aging places, and also tasted 2 wines. I love the wines from R. Lopez for many years, and this time I got the opportunity!

Luis was the best guide. He was so generous with his knowledge and time. It was a very nice tour and got to relax and drink some wine after. Fantastic winery and family tradition.

Amazing hospitality and experience at the bodgeas! We were in the area for wine tasting during the weekend and stopped by this place. A truly amazing experience and a key highlight of our day. Delicious reserva wine that can easily qualify as a gran reserva! After tasting a few bottles at the shop, the friendly staff, offered to show us their facilities behind the scenes with no reservations! Learnt alot from the quick visit and truly a bodegas that one needs to tour and experience their traditional family heritage of making wine.

We went for a small bottle of their wine and were truly surprised by generous sides they gave us included in the price of a bottle. They also provide outdoor seats with parasols, service was fantastic. Their showroom is very modern but cosy. Wine was great - well worth the price.

What a lovely place to relax in the sunshine and drink wine. The wine was great and they gave us some little bites of food as well. I do wish you could have glasses instead of only bottles so that we could have tried more, but the friendliness of the staff made up for that disappointment.

This was a slight disappointment fir me and other attending the same tour I met later at another bodega. The tour was very informative though for the price of 40 euros it's expected to be high quality. We visited all facilities involved in wine making process. The wine tasting was a huge disappointment. We were able to taste only three wines if which the first was nothing to tell about. Other reservas were nice. We didn't have a chance to taste their Gran Reserva. We weren't handed a bottle of their wine after the tour and the wine tasting. I afterwards found out that it should have picked up after tasting from the other location. The guide didn't mention about it at all. People left without the bottle.

This winery has a really nice setting. A very stylish, modern tasting room and a very nice area to sit outside, with a very relaxing feel to it. Since we were travelling with our Bulldog we took a seat outside and got some wine (with free nibbles). The wine was fine, got the typical Rioja flavour. But - compared to some other Bodegas we've visited - lacked a special something. Did not wow us enough. Prise-wise their wines are a good deal, but then there's so much competition around here. And considering that we just found the wine too average and quite light on the palate without any long-lasting flavours. But the setting is really nice, staff helpful and friendly. Still a fine Bodega to take a seat outside and enjoy a glass or two.

One of the most established and important wineries to visit in Haro. They are clearly set up for wine tourism. They offer lots of sitting areas if you want to only try the wine without an appointment. However the visit is very recommended. You visit all the different parts of the winery, including the workshop, where they make their own barrels. Visit is pricey but includes a bottle of their signature wine.

No tasting by the glass available. You would have to get a full bottle. However, the price is not expensive. Shelves at the sides looked too empty. It would be amazing if they were filled up.

Really interesting, unpretentious tour around a beautiful site. My 9 yr old daughter also enjoyed it and drank grape juice while we tasted white and red wine!

We loved the outdoor seating and relaxing atmosphere of Cune! We didn’t take a tour, only did a tasting and had some tapas with our wine. It’s a great place to add to your Bodega list in La Rioja, Spain.

Excellent. We love it! We booked the English Tour and we loved. They had a lot of consideration with us, we visit with 13 and 2,5 y/o toddler and everything went fine. The most of the Bodegas do not accept kids or they kick you out if the kids make any noise. Also I want to point out that some people in that tour did not speak English and they was so kind to make a recap in Spanish. We tasted 2 wines, and they offer Mosto to the little ones (‘Free alcohol wine’) they loved. Thanks very much CVNE.

Great place to visit. We tried everything from Imperial to Reserva and would suggest saving your pennies and enjoy the Gran Reserva. Sides were great and they have outside seats with parasols.

What an amazing tour and wine tasting at CVNE. Rui (I think that is how you spell his name) was tremendous. He explained the history and production process in great detail to our small group and shared with us the cellar holding ancient bottles of Rioja going back to 1888. The wine tasting was such a personal and intimate event hugely enjoyed by my entire family. If you are in Haro and only have time for one tour (you're obviously not spending enough time in Rioja) you should choose the CVNE tour.

What a brilliant experience. We were hosted by the very friendly and knowledgeable Jamie who told us all about Rioja / Spanish wines and created two wine flights for our palettes - there were many wines available to taste. Would highly recommend. We are staying in Haro for one week and CVNE will be the only bodega we will re-visit based on our experience.

We had a very educative tour in English for $18 Euros. The tour was a hour in half. We were a little disappointed that there where only 2 tastings of wine. One white and one red. Both very good. We did buy a few others to try.

We visited for the 1:30 tour in English. The guide spoke beautifully and answered all of our questions. The tour ended with the guided tasting of two wines and as a gift you are able to keep your wine glass.

We did the english tour of Cune, and it was amazing! Our guide was Ruy, and he was knowledgeable, friendly and made the tour even better. We got to see all aspects of the Cune wine making process, from fermentation to the bottles aging. We even got to go into the Cune “cemetery” bottle vault, where the 50+ year ole bottles are stored. We saw the 2004 Cune Imperial Grand Reserva, which was named the worlds best wine… After the tour we had a sample of a Reserva Vino Tinto and a Monopoli Blanco. After our tour and tasting, we hung out trying many other wines made by Cune. It was a great tour and afternoon of wine 🍷.

Was able to join a tour of CVNE thanks to the team at Hotel Palacio Tondon in Briñas. It was an hour long and cost €20 (incl. guided tour, wine tasting - 2 wines - and some cheese and picos. The tour was extremely informative about the history of the company, the family and the wine itself. Several parts of the tour are in the cellars so be sure to wear appropriate shoes and clothing. A trip to La Rioja would be incomplete without visiting a winery / bodega. CVNE is classic Rioja, an institution, well worth a visit. And even if you cannot go on a tour, check out the wine bar onsite.

Haro, the region in La Rioja is full of wineries. We paid €20 for the experience and got really good insights. 3 glasses of wine is included. And at the end you can have 1 extra glass of your favorite wine. 🍷

A nice place to visit and enjoy some glass of wines! You can find wine by glass in the bar, and also the bottled wine which sold there. You can taste all portfolio of La Rioja Alta and the wines from same Company Group like Aster, and also buy some bottles with good price.

For me, Rioja Alta are the best wines in Spain, and also up there worth the best in the world. If you can, try the 904 1997, it’s absolutely out of this world.

Must come place. You can skip all the winery but this one. English speaking tour starts 10am.

Called ahead of time to ask if they offer wine tastings and they said yes. So, we drove 2 hrs one way to do a wine tasting only to discover they don’t do traditional wine tastings. They offer wine by the glass or bottles to buy. Therefore in order to taste their wine, you will pay between 8€-50€ per glass. The first 2 glasses we ordered were average at best. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. What a rip off for mediocre wine!

Really excellent visit. Lorena was very knowledgeable even for winery rats like us. The tasting was simply beautiful and being able to refill your glass at the end and enjoy it on the couches under the trees was priceless.

This Bodega is simply exquisite. The wines are also superb. This is one of those perfect places that simply have to be experienced, if youvenjoy premium quality, then put it on your bucket list.

Road-trip: La Rioja, Haro - Bodegas La Rioja Alta offers tours (advanced reservations recommended, can book online or by calling) and has a wine bar and store inside its grounds called El Garage del Club de Cosecheros. Enjoy the wine with indoor and outdoor seating and with a few tapas (i.e., chorizo and picos) available.

Very nice visit and wine tasting experience at this bodega. The guide was friendly and it made it a great funny experience, we learnt a lot about the history of the bodega and had 3 glasses of wine to taste (1 white, 2 red) for just 20 euros overall

We had a wonderful tour and tasting under the expert guidance of Lorena. She really helped us to understand the wine and the processes, and was willing to answer all of our questions. The setting is beautiful and we were pleased to be able to take some time with the other international tourists there at the same time drinking wine on the terrace afterwards. I thoroughly recommend this tour if you are in Haro and would like to know more about their lovely wine.

Went to many wineries and Gómez was one of our favourites. We did the tour as well in which we had an excellent and very knowledgable guide that explained and showed us everything. The wine was top notch for price point, we ended up buying a couple bottles after the tastings. Highly recommend you check it out!

This was the last stop on that winery-hopping day. Close to our appartement in Haro it was conveniently located. We travelled with our Bulldog and were happy that she was welcome to sit with us outside at the table. The setting - inside and out - is smaller, but very charming. Staff here was very friendly, helpful and explained the wines with much knowledge. There are a good handful of wineries around this area here ... the old railway station. And this winery here was a very good one. The wines - most of the are on the very affordable side - are easy to drink. Except the older Reservas maybe a bit on the light side. But good value and with the typical smooth, wooden-caramel tasting Rioja flavour on your palate. It was a joy, sitting outside at the table, the sun going down slowly, enjoying a couple of glasses. Not the very best wine around. But good value and still very good.

My husband and I had a tasting at the Gomez Cruzado winery in Haro. We had an excellent guide for the tasting. We even purchased the 2011 Gran Reserva for husband's upcoming birthday celebration. I highly recommend visiting here.

I loved the wine tasting at Bodegas Gomez Cruzado. The guy was really friendly and helpful. I chose the wine flight. Portions could have been only halves. I found nice wines to try again.

We had an English speaking tour with Sylvie. She was fantastic - she covered everything from the history and the politics of Rioja to the making of the wine. We were shown most areas of the winery. It was interesting to see people at work. We had a tasting with appetisers, which was delicious. Highly recommend!

We did the premium tour in English. The tour and explanation of the wine making was one of the best we have ever had. We felt like it was our own personal tour, since it was only us & the guide. Our tasting consisted of 6 wines. The pour was generous, especially tasting 6. They provided some meat, cheese and bread. We would highly recommend Bodegas Gomez Cruzado to anyone. You should make a reservation.

Amazing experience! I had short tasting course with Silvia and she gave us great explanation on wines we tried. It was great to know that winery of this size and history is trying out innovative experiments with field blends and local varietals. Thank you!

Silvia was warm and welcoming on our recent English-speaking tour. We have been to multiple tours around the bodegas but find her’s to be the best. She has fabulous energy and makes understanding everything a breeze. I would highly recommend it.

We had an absolutely wonderful tour of the winery and a very nice and relaxed tasting session of their wines. Our guide, Casilda, was very friendly and knowledgeable and made the experience truly wonderful. We were extremely impressed with the quality of their wines! You really feel such greater personal attention at such a small winery.

Small but growing bodega in Haro. My mom and I did the visita in English, and it was wonderful. We had visited some of the other "major" ones in Haro and the area, and we still learned something new and interesting about the history of wine making in La Rioja. Highly recommend. Our tour guide was excellent, engaging, funny, fun, a very bright woman.

Really rude, unwelcoming staff today. Because we are not Spanish and had a child with us, we were told we could only visit the wine shop. But when we asked about tours, we were told they are only in Spanish, which is OK by us, but children can't enter. Nice premises.

Bodegas Ramón Bilbao has great wine, but this is not the only reason to go. The friendly service and the wonderful food paired with wine made this an excellent four hour experience. Noemi and Chenoa, a mother and daughter team who are working in the bar and restaurant, were amazing. The menu el legado del tiempo is the meal in the photos.

What a fantastic winery! We enjoyed a fantastic tour of the incredible Ramon Bilbao winery in Haro. Our guide, Victor, was very knowledgeable, friendly and fun and it made for a really enjoyable and educational two hours. The winery is very impressive and everything is presented immaculately. The shop offers all the wines individually as well as some fantastic presentation packages, accessories and glassware. The winery tour was fascinating and even included a short film documenting the harvesting process in a small cinema room. The tasting room was just perfect to enjoy sampling the wonderful rioja wines with the added benefit of Victor's explanation and experience. We had lunch afterwards in the fantastic restaurant where we enjoyed an excellent selection of great food accompanied, of course, by more fantastic RB wines. We thoroughly recommend this winery and the whole experience it offers.

We arrived when the wine bar was closing so we only could try few wines in the lobby (wine shop). I must thank to guy who helped us with tasting samples of the wine (I am not sure with the name - bald head guy called Emanuel?). Anyway the wine here is delicious and you have to try it!

Interesting winery! The excursion with degustación of 3 types of wine 🍷 (rose and 2 red). I really liked the bar with variety of wine 🍷 and grand chimney 🔥 with Christmas decorations 🤌. We’ve tried delicious Reserva 👌

Thank god the wine is not at the same level as the service! We arrived at 17.15 on a bank holiday and we were immediately told that everything apart from the shop was closed. When I pointed out that on Google the closing time is 18.30, the waitress and another guy were simply rude and unhelpful. I understand that they get lots of customers during the holidays but they made us feel very unwelcome, not the kind of customer service you expect from an establishment of such prestige. It's a shame really, the place looked amazing and we really wanted to try some of their wines, but after such treatment, I doubt we will go back. I' ve had much better experiences in more humble and smaller bodegas in La Rioja.

The tour was absolutely wonderful, from preparation to presentation, very pleasing! Once you enter the Bodega they take you straight to a Virtual 3D area where it takes you through the history of Ramon Bilbao while everyone was arriving. After that they started with the tour around the different areas of the winery lending up to a wine tasting room, Around 30 mins later the tour finished around the shop area. The staff and tour guide were really knowledgeable and professional. It was a really lovely morning outside the house!

Excellent winery with some lovely red wines on offer to taste. Storage rooms are naturally dark and gloomy so might not suit everyone. However most people will thoroughly enjoy it. Lovely grounds too. Visited May 2019.

Nayera gave an outstanding tour! Clearly she’s very passionate about wine. Not only did she give me a deeper appreciation of Rioja wine, she taught me many new things. If you want a small intimate tour, this is the place.

Even though we didn’t have a booking the hostess guided us through detailed explanations and helped us set up a custom tasting for over an hour! There are unique varietals here and sparkling wine from 1913!

Absolutely stunning winery. The tasting is super relaxed and the surroundings, inside and out, are beautiful. It would be great to try more than 3 wines by the glass, but this is a must stop for a tasting. Really nice staff, great wine - stop here for sure!

Very interesting tour. Naiara was a good host, speaking very good English. The wine tasting was good, we learnt a lot about Rioja wines that we didn’t know before.

My wife and I along with three friends from the USA did tastings and had a few glasses of wine yesterday, July 10, 2023. Africa was excellent and spoke both Spanish and English, and we needed both. Her co-worker late afternoon, name?, was also engaged and very helpful. We enjoyed our visit here as much as we did anywhere else in the region. And we enjoyed the tastings and purchased a couple bottles.

Mabel and the entire start could not have been more friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable. The wine is fantastic, the history is rich. A must stop if you are in the area.

Loved the experience from start to finish. I was lucky to be the only person who booked a tour in English and ended up with Paula as my guide - she was wonderful! Knowledgeable, personable, open to all of my questions and fun to talk to. The winery itself is stunning with an interesting history, and the wines and olive oils I got to taste were great, too. Don’t hesitate to book!

We did the guided tour with 2 wines and olive oil tasting and had a fabulous time, we then sat on the terrace to finish our drinks. Teresa was a great guide, explained everything really well and was super friendly :) would recommend this in Haro!

Enjoyed the tour through the vineyard and tasting. Our guide, although she had a complicated name, was amazing. She was kind, knowledgeable and spoke clearly. She showed us around the vineyard, explained the way wine is cultivated and was able to answer all my questions, ranging from biology to history. The tour is really something different from the typical "how we make wine" ones. The tasting afterwards included a nice second wine (the first you drink in the fields). At 25 euros it is not cheap but the experience strikes the balance between being well organised and rifined while also not being overly comercial and markting driven (which makes these things unpersonal and annoying). We both really enjoyed it, thank you!

Did the wine flight - excellent, one of the best in Haro, much more than the famous brands. Abucassa oil - just inject that golden nectre directly into my veins!

This was one of best experiences in Rioja. We booked a winery tour, which turned out to be a PRIVATE winery tour, which made it very special. Our guide was a long-time member of the Roda team, and could explain literally everything about Roda’s processes and decision-making. The process they use to determine what grapes will go to which wines is unique, and their largely manual processes ensure hand-made quality. The tasting was set up beautifully, explained and discussed wonderfully, and the choice of wines to taste ensured that we could understand their decision-making process. The entire tour was very relaxed, never were we rushed. Very pleased with this tour and the wines!

Coming from Australia and visiting Bodegas Roda has been a wonderful experience. We enjoyed the 5 wine flight degustation, including Sela, Roda, Roda 1 and Corimbo and Corimbo 1. (All wonderful wines!) A lovely experience, with personalised service from our hostess. Make sure you visit the ‘cave’ and the main Roda building for the view and the chance to see the wine barrels maturing!

Superb experience at this bodega. The private tour with Edurne was very intimate, and she was quite hospitable. Their facilities are very impressive. The tasting was great. Overall highly recommended -- it's pricier than the other bodegas but worth the money for the experience.

This is evident even in their entry-level wine - Sela, before you move on to Roda, Roda 1, and the best - Cirsion. The latest version of Cirsion is still so young, but its delicious aromas and wonderful complexity would make you want to bring a bottle home. Our host was very patient and knowledgeable throughout the guided tour and the wine tasting lunch was certainly value for money with its wonderful spread. I would come back again. We were told to hike up to the Ermita de San Felices by one of the local wine makers. What an experience I must say. It isn't a long hike, but well worth the climb to the top. The shrine is interesting, and the view towards Haro is beautiful. We loved the color of fall on the vineyards, and we could see snow on the mountain top in the distance.
