With all of the history this is an interesting place to explore. It was larger than I expected but an easy level walk throughout. The stadium was impressive from its size and the overall history. The view from the upper sides near the entrance gives a good view of its scale. The museum is definitely worth the time with some important bronze works.

The site of the Olympic Game athletes in ancient Greece is packed with some of the most interesting ruins: the Temple of Zeus, the Gymnasium, the Stadium, the Temple of Hera, the column of Nike, and many others. The site was functional until 500AD and has one of the oldest catholic churches on record, built in 200AD. Tickets are better bought in advance online, and the museum hosts some of the finer findings. There are bathrooms on site. If going in summer bring water, it is dry and hot.

Incredible location, so much history all in one place. Worth visiting the museum first and then the archaeological site to gain insight into the scale of some of the building and stories behind them. Highly recommend! And make sure you run up and down the Olympic stadium!

We were here as part of a cruise tour so didn't hit the whole site. A great sense of history here and I'd return. You can learn so much not taught in school growing up. The walk is fairly easy. Slopes are minimal but be careful on the gravel. Thank you Greece for keeping this available.

Highly recommend. This site contains temples to Zeus and his wife Hera. It's very easy to walk and there's a lot to see. When I got to the stadium where the games were held during ancient times, I saw people running, as if in a competition. I decided to also run in that space where previous champions ran. There is something awe inspiring about this.

Beautiful site, so glad we made a detour to see it. Quite a drive to get here, but well worth it. Although it was hot and we arrived at 5pm, there was shade and the ground was mostly flat. There were docents everywhere but also maps and short descriptions of each section. It is an incredible feeling, standing amongst the buildings where the first Olympics were held (and also finding out it was built on the ruins of a Neolithic village). Plan to spend at least 2 hours.

A place of immense historical and cultural significance with vast expense of ruins, remnants of grand and sacred temples and athletic facilities. The lush greenery, tall cypress trees and the nearby river creates a serene and picturesque setting for the ancient sports events.

Amazing site to visit and see the ruins. Best to go early in the day to avoid excessive sun, the ruins have limited shade. Plenty of markers that explain the building you are in front of and where you are on the grounds. It was pretty cool to have my kids run a short sprint in the original location of the Olympic Games. The 2 museums that accompany the ruins provide a lot of additional information.

Wow. The sheer history of this site fills me with awe. The signage is good and explains the ruins well. There are toilets that can be accessed from within the site. It was fabulous to see the archaeologists working. The ground can be uneven and there are a few steps to negotiate.

First Olympics was here 3000~ years ago. Earthquakes and time have damaged much of it. But there's still so much to see and the restoration that has been done is incredible

What an amazing feeling, being to the place where the Olympic idea started, thousands of years before. Beautiful scenery, blended with ancient columns and ruins. The track were ancient athletes run is intact and gives you the chills! People run all over it, trying to get the vibes!! Definitely recommend this place for a visit!!

It's beautiful and moving to see the stade. The site is quite large and perfect to wander around. The museum is gorgeous. The kids liked it as they could run in the site and enjoy the outdoor. I give 4 stars as it is a site has a lot of the monuments down so maybe less spectacular than others.

This is a must-see. The ancent ruins are very accessible and easy to view. Much more than the Acropolis in Athens. By this I mean, you could get closer to them and really have a good idea of the huge size of these temples. We had a professional guide (I would highly recommend) as he was able to tell us about how the original Olympic Games were run. They were not every year but when a battle needed to be celebrated. There are many different temples and structures to see.

Recommend for a nice excursion. Wonderful museum and site. We did visit first thing, which was lovely for the crowds as well as the heat. It is a big site and so may take hours. Hot in the summer. Wonderful for the family. We did hire a local guide which made the experience just wonderful.

You would need a good couple of hours at least to have a walk around plus time for the museum too. It's worth a visit if you get a chance as it's a unique piece of history.

Our favorite archeological site we visited in Greece. In offseason they close at 3:30 so would recommend arriving early as you can spend 3-5 hours here easily. We even went back a second day to just read on the grass.

Your ticket incorporates three things. The archaeological site, the museum about the archaeological site and a museum about the ancient Olympic games. It feels like there is great potential untapped in all three areas. Especially the archaeological site which leaves too much to the imagination, in my humble opinion. It lacks the wow factor that kids really need to understand what they are looking at and why it’s important. If you’re British, say that you are French for an EU discount 🫣

I wanted to visit the original Olympic site for a long time. So I was very excited when I finally stood in front of the Ancient site of Olympia. We can walk through most of the ruins, and some of them have a steel rope circling. I hope people will notice that they shouldn’t walk inside. However, some people are still walking inside the circled area! The site is massive. All the ruins are there with information displayed in front of them. I loved the Ancient site of Olympia. I hope people will remember not to cause damage to the ruins.

This is so exquisite! We got our money worth a thousand times! In the winter the entrance is only 6 euros pp, site and 2 museums included! If I understand well the price goes up this year to 24E,in the summer. I was there between Christmas and New year, and it was super quiet.. In the summer it must be crazy.. You have to reserve a time slot then!

Such an amazing museum. I loved every details and sculptures here. It was a bit crowdy when we came, but we had no wait to get our tickets. The museum isn't very big but has very important pieces. Lovely Olympia.

Great place of some awesome history. Our children were in awe that they had arrived at the sight of the original Olympics. They really enjoyed running in the original stadium area. Was also cool to see the Zeus temple. You can see the sheer size of it!

Great experience because of the virtual reality glasses from Olympia back in time! Too bad the glasses were not right next to the site but it was only a 10 minute walk away and definitely something to rent to make it more than just stones! Kids enjoyed racing at the stadium and mostly the virtual reality. One thing to note, if you want to visit the museum first then you need to get tickets from the museum. If you would like to visit the site first, then tickets at the site. We went to the site but wanted to visit the museum and there was a bit of discussion and we needed to refund the tickets and get new ones.

Very well run and interesting site for the origin of the Olympics. Amazing that the first record of the games was back in 776 BC and ran every 4 years for the next 1300 or so years. The overall area was roughly half religious/administrative and every thing else was devoted to the games.

Well laid out, clearly explained, fantastic artifacts. You'd do well to spend 80% of your time in Olympia here, reading and exploring everything, unlike the tour groups that rocket through each room, choosing only 1 item to highlight and talking--so you can't read anything on your own. We didn't do that. Highlight: the temple of Zeus pediment statues which are better presented and explained than the Parthenon ones at the Acropolis museum! Well done! We are full time travelers who spent 3 months exploring Greece.

One of the museums of Ancient Greece. There is a bi hall with armor and bronze offerings. I liked the wall with griffons. So unique! and they have a lot of beautifully detailed statues.. with heads!(but most of them are still without noses. But the most exiting thing were the pediments of the Zeus' temple! The place is definitely is worth seeing it!

That said, if you are a serious museum goer, avoid the middle of the day as loads of noisy tour busses unload their flocks. Private tours with loud guides further disrupt the learning experience. Halls are made of marble and the sound echoes: Makes it hard to concentrate on the reading. Best to visit early or late when the crowds subside.

Finally, Paionios' Nike alighting on top of a victory column is also superbly displayed.

I wasn't expecting to be this good but the central collection of the Heracles tasks and both representation from the temple of Zeus that they have are simply astonishing, the size and impact of just looking at all of these pieces of art are simply beautiful. Another magnificent piece they have is the one from Hermes, you can see the amazing details that this statue has, you must see it and appreciate how lucky you are by just being there. A must do for sure.

The Olympic games were free, but people were required to bring offerings of their own choosing, to be sacrificed to the gods. Many have been recovered, all are fascinating. The Archaeological Museum of Olympia is right next to the Archaeological site of Olympia. It is a good idea to visit the museum when you're there to get the complete pictures. The museum is indoors with air conditioning and a cafe. It is very nice after all the outdoor activities. I enjoyed all the historical items displayed in the museum and the cup of coffee I really needed.

It's definitely a must visit. Museum is easy to go around without much effort. A beautiful area with a lot of history. Avoid visiting with kids during hot season. Prefer weekdays

From the point of view of history and artistic periods, the exhibition space covers the entire period of Olympia's existence, from the Prehistoric period (2700-2000 BCE), passing through the Mycenaean (1600-1100 BCE), Geometric and Archaic periods (the centuries 9 - 6 BCE), the "Severe" style period (Early Classic, 490-450 BCE, in which the Temple of Zeus is also decorated), the Roman period (2nd century BC - 3rd century AD) and ending with the period of abandonment of the site (6th-7th centuries AD). In the Archaeological Museum of Olympia we meet various exhibits and especially statues that appear in textbooks and art history books. Among these we mention: - the world's largest collection of offerings to the God Zeus (Geometric and Archaic periods) - the terracotta "acroterion" that crowned the Temple of the Goddess Hera in Olympia - the cornice of the Treasury of Gela and the pediment of the Treasury of Megara - Head of the Goddess Athena, ceramic, early 5th century BC. - the metopes with the Labors of Hercules and the two statuary compositions of the pediments, eastern - "The Chariot race of Pelops and Oinomaos"" and western - "Battle of Lapiths and Centaurs" on the Temple of Zeus, in the "Severe" style - the statue of Zeus (reproduction) made by Phidias, the greatest sculptor of antiquity, and his workshop - the "Zeus and Ganymides" statuary ensemble, made of terracotta, the beginning of the 5th century B.C. - "Statue of Nike" (Victorious Goddess), 420 BCE of the sculptor Paionios - The statue of Hermes with the Infant Dionysus (4th century BC) by the sculptor Praxitele - statues from the Roman period: the offering bull at the (Fountain) Nymphaion and various statues of Roman emperors and empresses - Adrian, Marcus Aurelius, Titus, Julia Agrippina, etc.

Not bad museum which is specializes on the history of the Olympic Games only. Good for a short 30-minute dive into the history of the games.

Very interesting show about fascinating details around the Olympic Games of Antiquity, with special focus on curiosities and the Olympic disciplines from that time. Visitors will have a good picture of the historical development of the Olympics and the other Hellenic Games of antiquity.

We had been there on Spring of 2023. This museum focuses on the Olympic Games and their history, providing a truly remarkable experience. It's located on a beautiful hilltop with scenic views and is close to other archaeological sites. It's worth noting that this isn't the main archaeological museum, so it doesn't display artifacts like the Hermes statue seen in some photos here. My visit was thoroughly enjoyable, and the highlight was a captivating historical newspaper article (in Greek: Το Άστυ) discussing the first modern Olympic marathon.

Very informative museum. It is hard to believe the ancient games lasted for more than a millennia every four years without an exception.

It's a great complement to the archeological site. It shows many of the pieces that have been recovered from the digs.

Decent museum, included with the ticket to other museum and archeological site. The mosaic is well worth the walk up the hill and there is more information about specific events. There was a loud beep that happened frequently that may have been a proximity alarm, but nobody reacted to it.

Beautiful site, full of "history". It is so nice to witness the place where the Olympic flame is lit. PS: Hat and water are a must especially on summer days. I got heat exhaustion after the visit.

A bit of a climb to visit this museum but if you have a ticket to Olympia historic site, it includes the Archeological Museum of Olympia and of the Olympic Games. The view from the top of the hill was worth the climb, though. Really interesting museum. Personally, I suggest you visit the Olympia Historical site and the archaeological museum with the tour guide to get insight into what were the roles or participants and then visit this one by yourself. I have pics from the museum but for some reason, again, Google doesn't let me post the pics... (seriously more than a little frustrating since there is no logic for which pics I can post and which are declined...)

Easy drive from cruise port of Katakolon, Greece. The home of the Olympics. This museum is certainly worth a visit.

Admission is included in the tickets for the archaeological site. It has lots of artifacts related to the Olympic games and site. Quite a bit of reading to do so give yourself few hours if you want to make the most of it.

The entry ticket to the museum is also included when you buy the entry ticket to the archaeological site. The museum is rather small. Allow around 1 hour or so to view the relics. The exhibits are well explained.

Wat a magnificent place! This is an experience you don’t want to miss in Olympia. Klio and her parents are so welcoming. We had a taste of Greek hospitality and learned a lot about the process of keeping bees and making honey. Klio had a lot of knowledge and took her time to explain everything and also talk about her family history and traditions. It was such a delight listening to such a professional and enthusiastic person. Would 100% recommend!

Absolutely loved visiting Klio's Honey Farm. Such a great experience. Klio gave us a tour of her farm as well as presenting us with information about honey bees and the process of making honey. We were served "diples' with homegrown honey which was so delicious. A must see place if in this area of the world.

Amazing experience, I felt so welcome and Kilo was so informative about bees. It was a brilliant experience and I would highly recommend for anyone who likes agriculture and/or insects. The honey itself was delicious, I've never had anything like it and I would come back to Greece just to buy honey and I highly recommend. 100/10 thank you Kilo for everything. :)

Honey farm visit was very informative and at the same time enjoyable. Klio explained about the history of the place, bee farming and we learnt a lot about bees. The place is beautiful and the traditional Greek dessert with honey was very tasty. A short but sweet tour

Great experience, we really felt that Klio had put her heart in making the place enjoyable, natural and simple. The explanations about the bees were very clear and nice, I learned a lot ! And of course, the honey was delicious, thanks !

Klio’s Honey Farm was beautiful and so peaceful. The owners were kind and welcoming. And the food! Yum! What I found most amazing was seeing Klio’s grandmother’s beehive. Oh and I can’t forget we bought some natural salve that got rid on my mosquito bite itch that drove me crazy for one day! It’s an enchanting place.

It was wonderful. The people were very friendly and nice. The honey had an amazing taste that i’ve never tasted before. The presentation had a lot of interesting and new information. Over all everything was amazing and it’s definitely worth visiting!

I got the chance to visit their shop in Olympia and they were so nice! So many tastes of honey, I bought a lot but the absolute highlight was the mead alchocol drink. Everyone loved it and it was worth the price, very unique!

What a beautiful place full of beautiful people. We were so welcomed with the 3 kids and the products are so good. Plenty to learn and taste and like a home from home. We had no technology with us to take photos but this is a must see whilst visiting Olympia. Please go, you will not be let down. We fell in love with the people and will return again. Review written by a 11 year old - I really liked Klio's Honey farm.I recommend choosing the 1 hour informational tour(cost 5).Klio welcomes you with a spoon sweet, water, coffee and juice for kids while explaining the history to present process of honey-making.She then shows you a special machine, then a photo gallery, and finally you get a taste of their own honey. Also they give you a creme out of beeswax that helps the skin. Klio's Honey farm is totally recommended.

We loved this experience! The honey and other snacks were delicious. Enjoying the serene setting with the owner and her pup were just what we were longing for. There are a few roses in the back that smelt like oranges 😊

Every detail was absolutely perfect, one of my favorite days visiting this family farm! From the moment we got there such sweet family vibes, amazing treats and fresh juice coffee etc. great hospitality and we learned so much about the bees and process of honey making! If you are travelling around Olympia, check out Klio's honey farm. My husband and I went to Greece for our honeymoon for 3 weeks. A week and a half in, we have explored the home of the gods and its ruins and thought we've seen a lot of ruins already. We should check out other things Greece has to offer. We did a bit of searching online and saw Klio's honey farm as we were wanting a greenhouse back in the Blue Mountains, Australia with native bees. We were lucky enough to be the only people she presented bee keeping for. It was a lovely experience learning about the 3 generations of beekeeping in their family. She talked about what they did in the ancient times and the modern day beekeeping best practices. We did taste the honey that she gets from her bees and it's so nice knowing that what you put in your body is sustainably sourced. I wish her all the best and we hope there's more of her in their community.

I had a wonderful afternoon at Klio' honey farm. Sitting in the beautiful garden was so relaxing, and learning about bees and honey from Klio was a very insightful and authentic experience. This will clearly be one of the highlights of my trip through Greece, and I will certainly remember this experience whenever enjoying honey in the future!

My wife saw all the great reviews on tripadvisor so we decided to visit after the archeological site visit. After all that walking, Kilo's was a wonderful place to unwind a bit. We were greeted so warmly with juice, traditional sweets and honey. Learnt about their beekeeping. All in all, it was an authentic experience of Greek hospitality that we were grateful for. (Hi Kilo. We were the visitors who first used your credit card machine 😊)

What a brilliant little museum. Set up by a philanthropist and costing nothing to enter (there is a donation box) this is a little gem. It covers many of the extraordinary inventions he created and explains them in English as well as Greek. The models are fabulous and there are interactive sections for kids. Really great!

Amazing museum. Our group learned many things today that we did not know. Our tour guide Lucia was phenomenal. I highly recommend this museum.

A good free small museum and worth a donation. The lady was very good at helping show how things work. Good for families with hands on exhibits.

Cool experience with interactive displays. Probably orientated towards kids but fun for two adults as well. Would have been 4 stars if it wasn't free because you have seen it all after 15-20 minutes. Perfect way to support them is through the gift shop.

I didn't spend much time in the museum since it was more of a science museum for kids. But I guess it's good to have something for the kids too in historic site of Olympia. The modern village of Olympia was small, quaint and had lovely restaurants.

Worth visiting! Small but entertaining museum, whether your an adult or a child. Excellent and detailed explanations, better than the museums I visited in Athens. Some exhibits are interactive. The whole thing can be visited in 30 mins. Leave a donation! They really earned it. No photo or video allowed inside.

This museum is a bonus when visiting ancient Olympia. It is small and basic, but pays homage to one of the greatest minds in history who changed the face of engineering many items. It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but as entry is free it would be a shame not to visit if you are there. I look forward to visiting again soon.

Really interesting little museum that’s definitely different and worthwhile. It’s full of mostly working models of inventions of Archimedes and other ancient scientists, some that that you can interact with, things like pulleys, water fountains, burning mirrors etc. The docent demonstrated some of them which was very cool and others you could work yourself. Also lots of info about the life of Archimedes. Some of the more hands on exhibits were broken due to wear and tear.

Unfortunately this tour is WAY overpriced for what it is. A winery should use tours to promote the sale of wine, and not to simply make money off a 10min tour and tasting - 20 euros for 5 tastings of wine that add up to less than 1 full glass (and a very small food plate) was not worth it. It should be less than 10 euros to be worth the trip here - they do get tour bus loads so I guess they don't realise how much they are paying, and also another sign to avoid going... staff were friendly though!

Locally owned small winery with excellent small batch wines and olive oil. They tout all natural, family owned wines. The wines were really nice and moderately priced. We ended up buying two bottles a merlot variety and dry white. Our guide was the owners daughter. She was informative and pleasant. If your in the area stop by before this place becomes international.

It was extremely crowded when we got here, two buses full of tourists were present at the time. We were sat at a table as far away from the crowd as possible. They served us 5 wines, none of them really stood out. The website mentioned a olive oil tasting, but this basically consisted of some snacks drizzled with olive oil. Not a good way to actually taste the oil itself. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The tour itself lasted 15 minutes.

Lovely winery run by a local family. Great wines and amazing view. Really enjoyed it! :)

For a bus cruise tasting, a nice place that can handle the crowds yet be small group intimate, with a nice spread of bread and bites to go with a tasting of their white, rose, red & dessert wines. Mainly though scary close to the Olympic fires and such a loss of the Olive trees portion of revenue for years to rebuild from a farmer perspective. As one trying to learn wines, I won't...other then all wine is good wine if you can ship it home or have a point to ponder and drink before a plane back to doldrums of daily routine?

Fantastic experience! The wine was fabulous and the hospitality was exceptional. We plan to order from them online in the future as well since they ship. Must try the Assyrtiko.

It was quiet when we visited so we had a personal tour and tasting. Fabulous wines and a tasty plate of breads, salad and snacks to taste them with. Came away with a couple of bottles of their wine, but it's touch & go whether they last long enough to come home in the suitcase.
