Wonderful walk and climb up Jacobs ladder. The path is difficult and rocky. The caves are amazing. However, the Easter decorations spoil the natural effect of the caves, and in my opinion, unnecessary. On the day we went, there was a flood in one of the caves, the staff were really friendly and helpful explaining what had happened. Great place for families.

Cheddar Gorge is the biggest in England, drive up the twisty roads to see the high cliffs. Stopping on route to explore some small caves on the way. Do the clifftop walk to see the great view's from above. Highly recommended

Nice little village to visit, easily accessible from South Wales. Some interesting country roads to drive down on the way there. Lots of local shops to visit for some really nice cheese and cider, some nice restaurants also. Either driving or walking the gorge is a very nice chilled experience, a very scenic drive.

Beautiful place. The only problem is trying to park. We got there early but found it hard to park. Ended up parking in a yard right at the bottom of the road. It cost £5 to park which was fairly cheap if you think about it. Plenty of shops. The cheese isn't cheap. It's nice but not cheap. You can get some nice scrumpy there. Some nice little cafes that serve good quality local food. It's worth a walk around the little park that has the sword 🗡️ in the stone 🪨.

Best advice try to visit during summer or pre summer time. Wind will not spare you.

The cheddar gorge is absolutely beautiful. During our one week stay in Somerset we visited the cheddar gorse 3 times. There is plenty of car parks that are chargeable between 9am-5pm everyday including bank holidays by the gorge and a car park in the village which is in operation until 9pm. We actually visited after 5 as it was quieter and plenty of free parking. A lot of people also come here for rock climbing. If you plan to do the cliff top hike, there are a few routes. If you start from Jacobs ladder you will need to pay for this which is included in the price of the cheddar cave ticket at £20.95 per adult and £15.70 per child. It is a very steep climb. (To come down via the Jacobs ladder is free) But if you are not planning on visiting the cave you can actually walk up via a side road called the lippiatt which is a side road with edelweiss cafe on the corner. Turn left on lynch lane and this will take you on a gradular slope up to the cliff top. There is also a lookout tower which is free but it was closed when we arrived after 7pm. (The caves close at 5 so I believe the lookout tower also closes at this time) Once you get to the top enjoy and take in the lovely views, but beware on windy days to not stand too close to the cliff edge. Please do wear comfortable walking shoes. The path can be very slippery if wet with lots of loose pebbles and sharp rock. Also plenty of mountain goats around. The clifftop walk I would say is of an intermediate level hike. But some can find it very challenging. We spent quite some time taking photos and enjoying the scenery so we didn't do the full cliff top circular walk as the sun was setting but have heard the circular clifftop walk takes about 3hours.

Interesting place with the caves, Jacobs ladder and lookout tower. Seems to be dominated with traffic and some areas it's difficult to walk other in the road. Most places are dog friendly.

Nice routes for hiking, up and down the hills.. Lovely tiny village with good souvenir shops. However, the climbing stairs entrance was 6.5 £ l, worth paying when you go there with little children but not cheap for just using stairway believe..

The gorge is a small drive through some big rock formations, which is nice but I wouldn't say amazing. The town was very crowded so we didn't stop.

The views were once in a lifetime stopped here as a halfway point from our holiday in cornwall last summer and it was something else the staff at all the gift shops ,caves and the museum were so welcoming to us

Cheddar Gorge. I recommend waking up earlier in the morning and carefully climbing one of the rock tops. You will meet wild goats on the way. The roads are quite well maintained. But be careful if you are going to walk the entire circuit, it is quite physically demanding. But I guarantee that if you have good weather. You will see one of the most beautiful sunrises. there are also beautiful caves. And there is also a producer of quality Cheddar cheese. I recommend to visit

Hiking at Cheddar Gorge was an incredible experience! The trail led me through diverse ecosystems with lush ferns, enchanting woods, and intriguing rock formations. The breathtaking view from the top was well worth the effort and the hike is suitable for all levels of hikers. Highly recommended for nature lovers!

Lovely place to take walks and climb, we followed a path using All Trails app. Our mini hike was great and views are amazing. The only annoying thing during our walk is that some people are speeding with their loud cars on the road.

Wonderful day in Cheddar Gorge. Plenty of shops for whatever you need. Also a wonderful Christmas shop for baubles, ornaments etc. definitely recommend a visit to this place :)

Great place for a hike. You can enter for a fee at the Cheddar Gorge and Caves visitor centre, and start with the view tower and more picturesque views, or start from the opposite site of the gorge for free and go in the other direction (National Trust route). The route was not too long, but the rocky parts of the path, especially leading up or down can get very slippery.

Magnificent formation. Lots of wildlife and things to do including rappelling and climbing. Amazing views and beautiful area to enjoy.

Very beautiful view. You can do trekking there if you sit there for 15 minutes you feel good very peaceful place

I love the walks around chedder, some of the best countryside views in the UK. Caves are interesting if a little pricey. Lots of shops with local products.

It was a really great day out. If you follow the trail, you benefit from the whole experience. It's not just a gorge! When you stop for a rest, I would recommend the Teapot decorated, family run restaurant.

Cycled up the gorge one day, then walked up it, took a footpath to the left and walked back to Cheddar the next day. We didn't do the numerous tourist attractions, but the gorge is well worth visiting for its natural splendour. Cheddar is a pretty town also. There's lots of parking in town and up the gorge. One downside was the sheer number of performance cars showing off and being noisy on the Sunday. No need.

Great walk, south side is busier than north side. Nice view from the top. Quick walk if only going around gorge, recommend going around Mendip aswell

It’s one of the mandatory place to go and feel how you are so small compared to the nature and this Gorge made by the hand of God. I literally had nothing to say to see this surroundings and the rock-structures which is enormous enough to feel that you are just small part of this nature and the earth. There are many types of tracking routes available It’s pretty up to you to decide which way to go - we took an easy path around an hour to get the top of the gorge. 4.7/5.0

Spent an enjoyable hour on a lovely 18 hole crazy golf course, that doesn't bother with all those silly plastic windmills or scary clowns, in the heart of Cheddar Gorge. The couple running it took every precaution regarding Covid-19. The golf putter handles and the balls are thoroughly sterilised after each use, as are the pencils.Nor are they taking cash payments at the moment, all transactions are card payments. While the till area is safely set behind a clear screen.(26/3/22).

This hidden gem was great fun with the family. All ages enjoyed our round of crazy golf. The place is tidy and well kept with the putting carpet in good condition. All clubs and balls are sanitised before use. We went during a busy period so we took just over an hour to complete. No grumbles though as it’s what you would expect during the summer holidays. £4.50 per player is reasonable priced. We would definitely recommend.

Brilliant little 18 hole course tucked away behind the shops. Some very tricky holes too but a lot of fun!

What a fab time and went so quickly 1hr 30mins for £4.95 per person, outdoors fun exercise without realising. A great way to meet people on your way round. Easy access not over crowded and genuinely a great day with lovely staff.

Now this was a great find! Did not expect an 18 hole crazy golf course set in the cliffs. But it was so much fun. A nice challenging course and even in the rain worth a look!

A hidden gem! Beautiful wee course, very friendly guy running the place. It's good value too, and would recommend it to anyone visiting Cheddar!

We had great fun here today. Took us about 45 mins to go around the 18 holes. There's a good variety of holes that kept my two kids (and me!) entertained. The gentleman on the counter was very friendly too. Thanks!

Just got back from a lovely time at Bucklegrove. Well kept site, pitches were well laid out and spacious. Staff were friendly and efficient when we went over to the bar/restaurant. Couldn’t fault the food at all. Small play area but ideally positioned so the kids can play whilst parents have a drink outside in eye sight. Didn’t use the on-site shop but it did look well stocked up when we had a nose around. My two youngest loved saying hello to the resident rabbit. Overall a very good trip and good campsite. Thanks for having us

An overall fantastic stay with lovely accommodation and fantastic views across the fields when in the hot tub or sat in the lounge. The lodge itself was modern, clean and very up together. A nice play to stay for a romantic weekend away. A few negatives, 1) the heat of the hot tub couldn’t be changed and seems it was extremely cold this weekend, it would have been nice to increase the temp. 2) the water temperature was very poor. Showers and bath was basically cold and not enjoyable at all Despite these negatives, the stay was great overall, highly recommend and would stay again.

Doing a thorough review on here as I saw some negative reviews before we had a holiday weekend here. the campsite is in a great location very close to multiple areas of extreme beauty we hired a lodge very clean well maintained staff were very nice and friendly also I saw some negative reviews about muddy paths and potholes I would like to state that this is a very damp and wet area and that is to be expected as anyone has gone camping knows it can be a muddy experience but if you ask me that is all part of the fun we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and we will be staying again..

6 of us from work stayed for 2 nights. We had a hot tub which great and not looked on by neighbours, very friendly staff, food from the bar was lovely, caravan was well equipped, clean and comfortable. Will definitely be back.

We stayed for 3 nights in a camping cabin, clean, warm, well equipped. Facilities good could do with couple more showers but hot water and clean. Swimming pool and bar and grill and small play area, dogs allowed on leads lots of poo bins. Mixture of static vans, lodges, mobile homes and tents

Lovely little site with a swimming pool and loots of space. Little shower block was adequate as we had a pitch near it. Haven't used the big shower block. Plenty of electrical posts for campers and easy to get to water supply. Animal grove is a lovely little touch.

The shop on site has a really good selection and it's a lovely site to walk around with guests very friendly. The view from the Tor field was fantastic, The bar was only used once, same as the park, which was very busy with kids a lot older than should have been there playing on it. The toilets were cleaned daily, however, the site needs some TLC and updating for example the huge pot holes in the floor which can be dangerous if you are making a late night in the dark dash to the toilets.

We had a lovely family holiday over Easter at Bucklegrove in our tourer caravan. Great location and campsite amenities. But what really made the holiday was the friendly team running things. Entertainment and games for children were provided and the food served was good pub grub at reasonable prices. Would definitely recommend and we hope to return.

A really nice campsite all the staff are wonderful. Facilities are very clean and done throughout the day. My only gripe would be the WiFi. We had a service pitch which was really good. The staff showed us around the lodges we even had to ask for a jump start the morning of our departure. Again the staff were brilliant, well done to you all. Will definitely go again.

Lovely setting and very pleasant accommodation. The interior was clean, tidy and had everything needed. The pool was nice, however, due to some mobility issues, was a little difficult to get out of, due to its high sides and slightly too narrow steps. It was a real shame that the bar and grill was closed throughout our stay as it meant we had to leave site for evening meals and the main road outside the park is really not safe for pedestrians. The pub in one direction had about 6(full) parking spaces and the pub the other way didn't seem to open at all! Thankfully, the nearby Cider Barn is an absolute gem and we enjoyed 2 evenings there including one of their open mic nights.

We've stayed here a few times and really enjoy the site and location. It's situated between Cheddar and Wells so tons to see and do around the area. The shop on site has a really good selection and it's a lovely site to walk around. There's an amazing park for the children and a bar/restaurant for drinks and food. The small pool is really fun for the children also. The caravan we stayed in was really clean and looked after.

Perfect motorhome/camper pitches, clean shower blocks and a well stocked shop. Bus stop right out side campsite . Great food on the club house. The pool look nice to but didn't use it.

Absolutely amazing place, staff are outstanding, area and site gorgeous and all facilities are great. It has a great holiday vibe and all the staff are happy helpful and kind. We stayed in a lodge which was clean comfortable and fully equipped, The hot tub was perfect and the decking area had amazing views.

Fantastic place. We'll equipped shop. Very welcoming. The staff/ managers went out of their way to accommodate us even though we had messed up our dates. Great on site bar and restaurant. Loads of dog walks. 5 star from the German shepherd aswel.

Another incredible stay at Bucklegrove! Nothing is ever too much trouble and the staff go above and beyond every time! Easter is particularly brilliant for the children, the site puts on an Easter word hunt, the Easter bunny visited with a choice of chocolate egg or toy and there was arts and crafts EVERY DAY! The evening entertainment was top notch with live singers, bingo and kids entertainment! I cannot rate this site high enough and never want to leave when pack up day arrives. Looking forward to our next holiday with you guys, see you in October!

Pictures on the website misleading, as only shows one half of the site, which has be refurbished. We stayed for a week, on the Grove part of the site, in a caravan. The pitch was meant to be hardstanding, the gravel was all compacted into the ground, which left the ground very soft and muddy. They state the shower block on the Grove area are under refurbishment, no progress was made whilst we where there. In the gents there was no hooks, or seat so unable to put your towel and clothes anywhere, the block near the reception area, could also do with an update. Shower blocks could of done with a good clean, the gutter where the water flows from the shower floor was dirty.

Arrived on site to grumpiest woman in reception who said wasn't sure if accommodation ready but we was only ones arrived and site was derelict. Accommodation was different to booked. Both bedrooms very small. Stains on furniture. Swimming pool was closed for duration of stay. Said due to maintenance but on arrival was told no need to book pool? Not happy to have my bank details held for noise? When the site is noisy with builders trucks. Advertises woodland walk?...takes 2 minutes to walk thru a gateway to other side of site with faded fibreglass zoo animals? Site needs a complete overhaul. Don't recommend & would not return.

Love camping here with the kids, great location between Cheddar and Wookey. Good on site facilities (although they are a little dated now) the pool is perfect for younger kids and the clubhouse has good food with evening entertainment for the kids too. Staff are amazing, always happy to help. Will definitely be coming back again 👍🏼

Friendly, little caravan park, staff were very welcoming and the caravans were spotless and thoughtfully equipped! The hot tub was a fun bit of luxury. Great location for Cheddar, Wookey hole, Bath and Bristol.

Lovely place, great for walking and mountain biking. WATCH OUT FOR TICKS!! Always check yourself when you get home just in case you've picked up a passenger. Don't let them ruin what is a beautiful place to explore.

Cheddar Car Boot is a good size all year round, with both outdoor and indoor stalls. I'm a frequent visitor, and I enjoy the stroll around the sellers. Always lots to look at and often make a cheeky purchase. I also nip in to the on-site cafe for a sausage sandwich and a coffee. The food is good and well priced too.

So much going on! £2 per car for visitors. Sunny Sunday morning, 8.00am arrival meant plenty of stalls and cars to shop. Indoor and outdoor (check out the indoor food, they proudly show off their 5* food ratings). Friendly sellers and buyers, I think this car boot attracts a better than average seller crowd, I've been so some where the choice of goods is really poor.

The car boot sale was well organised with good facilities, nice cafe and clean and plentiful toilets.. What let it down was the appalling road surfaces with very deep holes everywhere and not just a few. Also not a fan of paying once to enter in a vehicle, and then again for a pitch for said vehicle. It would have been more acceptable if more of the revenue was used on the road surfaces.

4 stars, it's not as big as people or FB makes out. Big indoor area for when it rains. If you sit quietly in the cafe, you will notice local inbreds, not a pretty sight.

Went to the restaurant at Cheddar market today ordered our food took ages to come out my sister had to go up to find out where it was to when it came out the burgers were poor quality the sausage bap was cold too lots of chips were nice as they just come out the fryer One lock was cold when complained to the lab as you threw it on our table chips went everywhere thought he was gonna just grab the month put them back on the plate very poor attitude from the staff all running right like headless chickens doesn't seem to have any coordination or teamwork going on everybody just wandering around doing whatever they seem to want to if you're planning on eating at the car boot itself I would suggest not to use the restaurant people that came in after us seem to be getting served with their food whilst we sat there like lemons waiting

Excellent car boot. Big one, with a good mix of private sellers and dealers. You can find anything here. Two under cover areas for rainy days, but sunny days attract more people.

This is a great day out. Ask any trader about the cash point, it's upstairs and has a real life cashier. The café is great, get to the outdoor stalls nice and early. No use having a shopping list, you'll always find a surprise bargain. The indoor sections have cheap cakes, vapes and poppers. It really is one of the best car boots in the country!

I'm not sure what I was expecting. We arrived around 11.00am, knowing it was on from 8am. There wasn't loads going on and a few cars had already left. If you look at the website in order to do your own car boot, it says: THE FOLLOWING ARE NOT ALLOWED TO BE SOLD OR BROUGHT ONTO THE SITE •  Counterfeit goods including DVDs, designer clothes, bags, t/shirts etc. •  Stolen goods •  Live animals •  Real, replica or toy guns, or dangerous weapons •  Fireworks or anything that can cause fire •  Cigarettes, tobacco or alcohol •  ‘Fun Snaps’ There were 100% fake clothes being sold along with toy and replica guns. I was thinking this would be full of people who were clearing lofts but it seemed like these were professional car booters, a lot of it looks like they wheel out the same stuff week after week... maybe this is what car boot sales are these days?

Good location for sellers, with excellent facilities on site. There is a cafe which does hot food takeaway, decent toilets (with hot water). Indoor and outdoor pitches. Everyone was friendly. Dog walking area down near the pond where you can see some big fish. Good place to go if you like car booting for haggling and getting lots of stuff at good prices.

Awesome huge indoor and outdoor boot sale. Lots of stalls and lots of bargains. Dog friendly. Cafe on site. Only negative is it takes a while to get out of the car park. Other than that it's a lovely place to while away a few hours.

Large car boot with a great mixture of goods to see, buy and even eat. Everything from fishing rods, to collectables, to cakes. It takes around 1.5 hours at a steady pace just to walk around the place and you will just never know what you will come across. If the weather should take a turn for the worse, then there is also a big covered area aswell, which can be useful. Plenty of food and drink vendors dotted around the site, also a cafe - but this seems to get very busy. Toilets on site, these were kept nice and clean, which for alot of car boots this is a bonus.. A good car boot with ample parking and if your around the area, it's well worth checking out 👍

Cheddar Market is a place to visit even if you just want to look around, we usually come here to get fresh meat from the butcher. They have a great Cafe but is always rather busy. There is a huge pond at the bottom where you can see massive Carp and are always keen to grab some sustenance if you bring some along. The kids love them.

Loads to do no matter the weather! There is an indoor and outdoor section, so they knew what the British weather was going to be like! Lovely people there too - they have a cafe and coffee shop as well as an ice cream van!

Early start but well worth it. Fresh food, bakeries, meat vans, bargains galore. Plenty of parking. Plenty of stalls and carboot sellers. Very much a treasure trove. Top carboot!!

Beautiful old church. A very warm welcome given to me Candlelight service. Building was well decorated and heated.

Finding the brewery in the middle of the industrial estate on the edge of Cheddar I plumbed for a Piney Sleight and Crown & Glory while my wife had the Porter. Excellent beers. The brewery is behind the John Deere workshops but plenty of benches inside and out to enjoy your beer. Yes industrial estate but the beers were well worth it. So good to see local brewers thriving. Big thumbs up from us.

Popped in today for the tour, tasting and pizza. Beautiful beer, friendly folks, very informative tour and tasting and delicious pizza (highly recommend the gorgons alive!) - very pleasant way to spend a Saturday afternoon 10/10 😄

Good beer and you can sit in Brewery to drink it. Recommend the Pot Holder but about 8 others to try. Great place for Beer lovers. Pizza van visits a couple of times a week and the Pizzas are reasonable priced and good. Recommend.

Found this place quite by accident while staying on a nearby caravan site. Very friendly place, cracking ales and excellent pizzas! Don’t expect the lap of luxury. It’s a brewery! But, if you like real ales and excellent pizzas and good company it’s thoroughly recommended.

Dropped in here late on a rainy afternoon and was treated to several tasters and the great company of an ardent ale lover and brewery helper, employee (the fireman) who made the whole experience even better. The beers are really good, so good I bought 3 mixed cases. Great place

We visited the brewery while on holiday at the nearby campsite. Highly recommended if you are in the area. The staff are friendly and enthusiastic. We tried different beers and bought some. Oh yeah, the beer is lovely too!

Simply wonderful experience to pop in on a Saturday evening try a few beers and drink a few pints. Quality is outstanding and an interesting range of styles. Thank you to the very helpful young man behind the bar.

Highly recommend. Good selection of drinks at a reasonable price. Staff were some of the friendliest and most welcoming people I've come across in an establishment - great service. We would have visited again the next day but they were closed. Definitely come here instead of the Cider Barn which couldn't have been more different!

Beautiful 2 mile walk around this reservoir, I come here most weeks and will keep coming back. Free to park as well, ice cream van parked up in the summer months on the weekends

Large reservoir surrounded by a lot of nature to contemplate, ideal place to walk, run and enjoy the views.

This was a quiet spot to walk the dog on our way back to the Midlands after a few days in Devon. About 7 or 8 miles from the M5. There is limited free parking with some benefiting from the shade of the trees. Much like the photo the reservoir walk in on a fine gravel path a few feet from the waters edge on one side and a grass bank on the other. If you complete one circuit then it's about 2 miles, a nice, flat easy stroll. The day we visited there were sheep grazing on the grass bank up to the path so I kept my dog on lead. Adjacent to the reservoir is a skateboard park.

A lovely place for a walk, very peaceful. Although it could get busy at the carpark.

Just a lovely place to walk, chat to dog walkers, listen to the water lapping on the steps. Free Car park, no facilities. Someone told us it was 2 miles, but it was easy because it was flat. Will visit again.

The reservoir is one of my favourite walks in the south west, it's an artificially created reservoir operated by Bristol Water, parking is free and it's very accessible to get to. It's such a pleasant walk to do either on your own, with you family or as I do with the dog. It takes just over an hour at a steady pace to walk around it and is such an enjoyment, be aware there are some sheep on the route so be careful with your dog's. If your in the area or live within a close distance come here and have an refreshing walk.

Don't miss out Cheddar Reservoir a beautiful artificial reservoir in Somerset situated between the charming village Axbridge and Cheddar (20 min from Bristol by car). I recommend for a countryside day out with friends or family to visit Axbridge then walking to the Reservoir and then visit Cheddar. You will love the breathtaking view, the relax walk and the stunning sunset. You can get there by car too there is a space to park. This place is perfect for family, there is a playground for kids. Yes you can bring dogs too. There is a yacth club and there are acquatic activities in the reservoir.

Wow, what a great place to go running if you are staying near Cheddar. A lap of the reservoir is just over 2 miles and comes with stunning views all around. Fully recommend heading here for a walk and to take in the surrounding hills and view of Cheddar Gorge.

Great place to walk round, lovely also to ride on the bike. Lovely scenic views all way round. Great to have a quiet walk or come with the family. Lots of friendly people who walk their dogs.
