Very much tourist hotspot. Loud air conditioning but fancy sculptures. We’d liked it for a one time experience. The glasses are made with ice.

This museum could be a 4/5 if it wasn't so dreadfully overpriced. Unfortunately, even with the 100 KR "discount" we received since we were sailing on Hurtigruten, entrance was still 200 KR, which is way too much for the experience. Entrance includes a "free drink," but you can only choose either one type of wine, or a nonalcoholic drink. Inside, there are about 20 ice sculptures of various sizes. There are a few benches to sit, and a small "ice slide" that you can slide down. The sculptures are interesting, but the whole "museum" took us about 15 minutes to experience. While it's cool to see the sculptures, it should cost no more than 100 KR to enter. TLDR: tourist trap at its finest.

Just fantastic, unique, an experience, sculptures that while ice last over 3 years, has a bar with wines and spirits, glasses that you drink out of that are made from ice, some great music playing - please just go and see for yourself.

Me and friend went to visit the Magic Ice in Lofoten and we were quite surprised with the ice sculptures. The staff of the bar is awesome, really nice people and the guy from Lithuania that did some of the sculptures and was serving drinks is not only talented, but a great guy. We only give 4 stars because the music was weird and they didnt serve hot drinks inside the bar. The bar is usually -4 or -5 degrees, what its cool but then we can only stay inside a bit until we start freezing. Overall its a great experience even though its a bit expensive, costs 250 with one drink included or 300 with 2 drinks. But you should see it more as a unique experience than just a night out in a bar. Its a bar/art gallery. It looks like it was the first permanent ice gallery of the world. What its pretty cool!

Very nice bar at the port of Lofoten. It's worth stopping by once. The bar is already stylishly furnished from the outside. When you enter, you are immediately greeted by the staff. Inside there is a shop where you have to pay for the ticket for the exhibition and a drink at the ticket office. The price of 25 euros is relatively expensive, but it's worth checking out. Upon entering, one also has the opportunity to use a jacket and gloves for the exhibition hall. It's a bit more like -10 degrees in the hall, so it's advisable to dress well. The exhibition is attractively designed and there is an ice slide on the right side. The slide should be tried with caution. The bar is also well stocked, but because of the cold, you don't stay long in this place. The drinks are classic and it's nice to drink from an ice glass. Especially the Argentinian employee from the Icebar Tromsø was very warm and open to talk to us about everything. You have to see such a bar at least once.

Well, it was a thing. The ice sculptures were okay, nothing too crazy. There was a slide in there, which was fun. It's supposed to be a bar or club maybe? We tried it out on a Wednesday afternoon and so were pretty much the only ones there, so the partying that I think is supposed to carry the place didn't exist.

It was magnificent! We came with a ship of the Hurtigruten. After showing our cabin card we received a discount and a free drink. After putting on some gloves and a wintercape, we went in. It is great to see. The drink was served in a glass ice, which you can take with you as a souvenir 🤣. We were in for about 30 -45 minutes. Is was long enough, and we had to be on time back on board.

Very cute experience of seeing intricate ice art, which is sculpted to a high standard and preserved. This is a gallery, whereby the art is frozen and kept at temperatures of -6°C. Very reasonable price in my opinion which goes amongst artists, staff, location, temperature regulation, sourcing of ice and ingredients for drinks. We got engaged in Norway this week, and after talking to staff about this they went the extra mile for us, and even left us with a little parting gift to remember our special time in Lofoten.

This is the World's first Ice Bar apparently. There are others in other cities, but this was the first. It was great fun with interactive sculptures, music and changing colour lights. We particularly enjoyed the slide and the throne 🙂 You get a complimentary drink on entry, and can then pay for more if required. A poncho coat and gloves are provided as the temperature is -6°c inside. Lots of places to sit, on reindeer skins.

It was a great experience but make sure you wear your wool, if you get cold easily. I had to step in and out couple of times 😅

Visited this place coz snowing... There wasn't much activity to do on Sun evening. We were the only ones. So we had the entire place for ourselves. Small place... But nice... I enjoyed the slide 😁 The cocktails are served in ice glass with another glass outside, otherwise it be too cold to hold. Quite an unique experience.

My experience with Lofoten Explorer was good. I did the Eagles safari and Trollfjord. The best moment was to see Eagles in wild state. Trollfjord is OK but it was not amazing for me. The views during route on the speed boat were wonderful all time. The clothes, which they borrow you, is very good for cold and wind. I suggest to wear thermal socks and good shoes for cold and wind. The staff was friendly, but I could not listen very good the explanations of guide during activity because of noise. The total time is 2,5h. The speed boat stops in different places to see eagles. The speed boat is safety. I recommend to do this activity if you want to see Eagles catching fishes and beautiful views. I will not repeat this activity because one time is enough to me and it is cost too much money.

My wife and I had a wonderful experience. It was fast and fun, but also safe. We watched the eagles feed and visited the Trollfjord. I would highly recommend this trip.

The trollfjord and sea eagle safari tour is highly recommended if you are visiting svolvær/lofoten. When you first get dressed in the suit and glasses it feels funny and very hot but as soon as the boat starts moving then the outfit makes all the sense in the world. It was so cool coming close to the sea eagles and seeing all the beautiful landscape of the trollfjord and of svolvær.

Such an incredible experience. All geared up in our heavy duty suits and shoes we went for this lovely 2 hour ride. The boat ride itself was serene and our guide was amazing. He explained everything to us about the geography and history of that place, things to do, hike recommendations. He told us some incredible facts about the fascinating Eagle. Splendid collection of WWII military equipment and clothing. Special attention shall be paid to the Enigma machine, the Xmas decorations, and the Disney drawings attributed to AH. Just epic and extremely rare stuff, gathered with care by a true enthusiast, and expert. Thank you!

Don't let the small space fool you. This Museum is packed with more items than any other WW2 Museum I have visited. Really rare items can be found here. Keep your eye out for the A.H. signed Disney pictures! The guy who runs the place is an avid collector and has some awesome stories to tell.

A small museum but crammed chock-full of historical objects and memorabilia! So full we spent almost an hour in just one room looking and reading stuff. Very educational and insightful. Receptionist was a very helpful and kind lady who gave us a tour and explanations of various objects and pointed out specific things of particular interest. The owner of the museum is a very passionate man and personally provides guided tours of the objects he has collected over 50 years. My gf and I made a donation because we were so enamored by the museum. Definitely worth a visit if you're into WW2 history! Svolvær is an old beautiful small town with a rich history!

This museum has an awesome WW2 collection! Not neatly packed in chronological order, just stuffed to the brim with cool memorabilia. From swastika-Christmas bellls to an alarm horn from battleship Tirpitz. And it's right next to the cruise terminal, so if you're traveling the norwegian coastal route and only have 40 minutes in Svolvaer, you can spend 39 of them here. A true walhalla for history buffs!

Set in the former telecommunications building , this is a superb collection of both military and civilian from WW 11 An absolutely huge amount of memorabilia, all on the ground level ,weaves it story of the occupation from the Nazis and the subsequent trials and tribulations. I have visited many a war museum/memorial or sites ,and can safely say this was very intresting, alot of information but more visual visit We were lucky ,as we were the only visitors and the museum attended gave us some insightful information which only enchanced our visit! Worth a visit, even if you are not a big war buff ,as this is more than just about specifically the war,more about the people, lives and how a underdeveloped and much less man power force handled themselves ... Moving and gave me a new prospective on events in this Country

A really great experience. It warms my heart (which is needed during winter in Svolvaer!) that people take time to make History live on. There are a lot of great displays in this museum with fairly unique pieces, and you get to learn more about this lesser known front of the war (and I say that as someone from a country that still keeps Narvik very much alive in its memory) and of the great efforts and sacrifices Norwegians consented in the common struggle against the axis. One improvement, I wish there was at the beginning is a little timeline of the events so that you can more easily make sense of the different things you see in the exhibition afterward. The staff is really nice and I had a great experience overall. Thank you for the great time, thank you for preserving this history.

This is the single most impressive WWII collection I've ever seen. I've been to the WWII museum in New Orleans, and that was a first rate exhibition, but the Lofoten War Memorial is in a league of its own. So many unique items collected from such a dark part of our history, but the curator has done an absolute first rate job, labeling and articulating the history behind each item.

Very quick visit due to ship's schedule. Stuffed with WWII memorabilia. Not all labels translated into English, but interesting nonetheless. Great for WWII buffs.

Amazing compact collection. William Hakvaag is incredible person inspiring learning history of WWII through collected artifacts and great stories behind collecting and people. Local stories interlace with the global history which helps you dive through the time. William made a great work!

Amazing experience to see all these WW2 relics displayed. There are German, Russian, Norwegian, Danish, American and others on display. Weapons are real and not replicated, most are in good condition and you can see a lot of details on them. If you have the chance to go, do yourself the favor!

Very interesting and important WW2 museum with objects, uniforms and stories of that time of Lofoten and Norway, mostly focusing on both Norwegian and German armies. The museum has a varied collection with notes in Norwegian and English, some in German and French. This is the life work of founder Willliam Hakvaag who still provides in person guidance of the museum and the period. Highly recommended for everone!

Great little museum with lots of interesting pictures and artifacts telling a story of real people's wartime experience. Not all items were tucked in glass displays allowing for an appreciation of the fabrics and materials used in clothing and uniforms. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff.

One of the best WWII collections I have seen. Their collection of German soldier uniforms and equipment is amazing. The caretaker is also great. He told us numerous stories about the items in the museum as well as what went on in and around Norway during the war.

Great snowshoe walk despite mild conditions. Lawrence led the group very well giving us interesting info on the islands, life in Norway and the natural world around us. We ended up in a beautiful spot with wide ranging views over the sea, mountains and setting sun. Lawrence was an expert guide, great company and patient and supportive throughout. Highly recommended.

Perfect service and amazing experience. We took the Fishing tour and the Sea Eagle Safari. In collaboration with the Go2Lofoten they took care of us (so it does not really matter which agency you book with), and both experiences were worth the money. The Sea Eagle Safari was unexpected surprise. It is not just the eagles, who come close to the boats and are magnificent creatures, but also the ride there and back and the scenery, and most of all the amazing tour guide and boar driver Sondre, who made this experience even better by being a real storyteller and made us want to know more. The fishing tour was mostly what we expected, and there was fishing rods and plenty of good fishing spots for all on board. Our guide Bjørn was also very interesting, telling us stories, replying to all of our questions about the boat, fishing, but also Svolvær history and cod industry, and sharing tricks and tips. Both worth it!!!!

We did the evening kayaking in Svolvær and it was such a great time! Beautiful to do with the summer sun still shining. Our guide was super knowledgeable about Svolvær, it’s history and surrounding environment. I forget his name but we did the 19:00 tour on 04.07.2023, he was great!

We came from Texas all the way to the lofoten islands and this is the type of stuff we were looking for. We are not very adventurous but this was amazing to see the beauty of the islands. The tour guide was really informative and answered all my questions, I wish I reneged his name, he even had a connection to Houston, TX my hometown!!!! The freaking sea eagles were such a site to behold, I'm not a big fan of bird watching but this was great. Prices were fair, I think about 150 usd. To summarize in one word is easy.... AMAZING 👏 🙀 😯

Great experience, quite involved on the way back (windy and snowy). Probably the nicest way to make ones way through the fjords. Lent equipment is of great protection. Seats on the boat are much more comfortable than you'd expect. Front row is likely to provide the most intense trip (wind / snow / sea water ? / but also view). It was a wonderful hike. I had never walked on snow shoes before. It is easy and a lot of fun to walk in fresh snow and just finding your way on the hill through the bushes and rocks.

Me and my wife signed up for Snowshoe Nature Explorer tour. We truly enjoyed the trekking experiences and our guide Toby, was very experienced, friendly and helpful. After the trek, he showed us around some amazingly beautiful lake as he knows that I’m a photographer! Overall we are very pleased with the tour and highly recommended!

Absolutely enjoyed the tour. Reuben, the guide whom I shared my Kayak with, as I was by myself, helped me not to tip our Kayak over ;) He gave me some invaluable tips on how best to Kayak so my arms wouldn't fall of at the end of the trip (Cheers for that) Reuben has a good sense of humour, which made sharing a kayak fun plus he provided some interesting & fun facts about the surrounding areas we passed. Had so much fun! Went on the Trollfjorden Tour on March 25th. It was such an incredible tour and the scenery was stunning! Truly a priceless experience that I most definitely don't mind doing again next time! :) We saw several eagles as well, and they looked so mighty! And even though I was freezing, I could not resist taking photos and videos to immortalize the experience on my socials and show my family and friends. So worth sharing! :) Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and attentive too! Just didn't get his name, but thank you so much for taking us on the best tour I've ever been on! :)

Danke an das nette Team und die Mitreisenden. Das war ein wirklich tolles Highlight unserer Lofoten-Tour.

Great experience with a knowledgeable friendly guide, Lorenzo. Lorenzo threw frozen fish for the sea eagles but unfortunately they weren't hungry that day so we didn't get close-ups but we saw many of the majestic eagles soaring over the Trollfjord! A lot of little "extras" that made Trollfjord cruise great - complimentary cookies, coffee and tea. Blankets also available if one feels chilly. The fish stew was awesome. Also get a chance to fish as part of the cruise. We had a great experience - great weather of course made it even better. Highly recommend. Best to give a cash tip.

Completely incredible. Obviously stunnnnnning scenery (and saw many sea eagles) and the boat allowed the perfect combo of inside and outside time depending on what you want, and the quietness from the electric engine in the trollfjord meant you could really experience how special it was. What really made it were the hosts - so friendly and super interesting with their marine biology knowledge. Might have done a little happy cry on the deck at the end… thank you for this magical trip!

We love our private tour with Maurizio from Svolvaer to Å. The tour is very flexible, fun, and humorous... Yet knowledgeable. Lofoten light also provided us with tips and location to visit for our self-guide since their tour was sold out for one we are interested in. He also told us locations for northern light, but unfortunately the weather was not good even though the KP level was high in 4. He suggested we didn't get the car for that day.

Was on the "Winter Photography Tour to Henningsvær and Haukland Beach" tour on 11 Feb. Tour guide gave no introduction or mention at all of the attractions we visited (other than that the next stop would be "very beautiful"...), and throughout the tour she was just happily chatting (non-stop) with a guest. Guests were largely Asian (including us) - did the guide think there might be some kind of language barrier or that we would not be interested to know more about the attractions we were visiting? Weather was perfect that day...expected a lot more for the price we paid for a small group tour. Very unprofessional and amateurish!

Wonderful tour with a guide who happens to also be a photographer and a journalist. I hope to be back for another tour in the winter to see the northern lights.

We took a 7 hour day trip across several islands in Lofoten, departing from Svolvaer. Our tour guide was amazing, she really showed us hidden gems!

We joined a 2 Days Summer Sightseeing & Photography Tour in July 2023. Our tourist guide, Maurizio, was excellent. He drove us to many beautiful spots in a small and comfortable van. He not even told us a lot of interesting stories, but also many useful information about travelling in Lofoten Islands. Maurizio lighted up our stay in Lofoten and we decided to join Lofoten Lights’ Winter Tour next year . A million thanks to Maurizio. We strongly recommend Lofoten Lights Tour to anyone who plans to travel in Lofoten without a car.

The road to get up there is steep but not too much. Before reaching the top there is a surprise - you need to use a rope to climb up there. When you get to the top, there are small flies that constantly get in your way and we didn`t stay long because of them. Overall a nice hike. I recommend it.

There is confusion about this hike, as many start with the idea that this is an easy or moderate hike. It is not! Although it is not a long distance hike, the track is frequently very steep and difficult to walk. You need a fairly good physical condition, preferably good hiking shoes and depending on age you might want to bring hiking poles. Do not forget to carry some food and water too, it took us in total 4 hours… having said all this, the hike comes with rewards. The views are stunning, all along the way and surely at the top!

Gorgeous views walkable from Svolvaer (20min to the beginning of the path). Can be done independently throughout a steep but safe trail (just go slowly on the descent). There are actually multiple trails that will be easier or harder depending on weather conditions and how many people take them (can change every year cause footsteps are changing their shape). If you want to go onto the upper rock but want to avoid the steep & ropes part, there is an easier trail via a very quick detour (on your left if you come from South)

This is a beautiful hike with an amazing view from the top, and as well as along the way. However be aware there are steep areas along some of the paths, and it can get muddy and slick if it has rained within the last couple of days. If you are not used to hiking, I recommend walking up the main road, past the shooting range, and follow the signs towards Tjelbergtinden. It is the easiest path to hike yet has a beautiful view

Yes, you are right. If you are in Lofoten. This trailhead for hiking in Lofoten is a must. Medium level hiking covers 3 mountain peaks. Here are some compilations of how it looks from the starting to reaching the mid point of the hike, from where you can take a right turn if you are going to Svolvaergeita. If you continue to Floya , later you can take a rest at Djevelporten and move to Floya. Or some people, take left to Blatind (a bit challenging). Even hiking this trailhead requires sturdy shoes and good clothing during summer. It needs fitness to too, as some parts are only slippery rocks and when it rains, it's much more tough to go through these slipping patch of big rocks. Nice city view from first stop (150m), easy start of the trip- stairs made out of stones. Later the path becomes more difficult if wet - it goes on quite steep rocks.

The journey came unexpected and we went all the way to djevelporten seeing a memmirizing view from the top was fantastic. One half of the mountain was a view of svolvær city and other way around was a stunning view of the mountains and sea around it.. We were bit tired though 😀

Parking lot has easy parking app set up. Hike started with lots of Sherpa steps but eventually became a bit more steady. The top is definitely worth it.

The day I hiked was too foggy at the top. Even if it was bad weather, It has a great view. There is also a rock between cliffs like Kjeragbolten.

Amazing stairway all the way to the top (no climbing gear or even boots required!) and awesome views back to Solvær the entire way! You want to bring some stamina though as you are climbing up a couple 100 meters!

One of the best hiking trail you can ever find. The trail is highly physical demanding. Starting with the sherpa stairs. Be aware of the difficulty of the trail and hopefully you can enjoy the view from the peak. There are many peaks you can take and every peak has different views toward the town. Additional info: Parking fees are 25 euro for 5 hours and 30 eu for whole day. Parking fee can pay via easy park app.

The trail is fairly airy at the top and quite heavy walking, only measuring 3km but also almost 600meters of elevation. But the steps made by the sherpa's are wonderfully made

Amazing view from the top it’s worth going there even though the hike is bit hard for un experienced personals , pathways are marked with white and blue colour paint touch ups so you can find the way ahead easily.

Don't let the small space fool you. This Museum is packed with more items than any other WW2 Museum I have visited. Really rare items can be found here. Keep your eye out for the A.H. signed Disney pictures! The guy who runs the place is an avid collector and has some awesome stories to tell.

A small museum but crammed chock-full of historical objects and memorabilia! So full we spent almost an hour in just one room looking and reading stuff. Very educational and insightful. Receptionist was a very helpful and kind lady who gave us a tour and explanations of various objects and pointed out specific things of particular interest. The owner of the museum is a very passionate man and personally provides guided tours of the objects he has collected over 50 years. My gf and I made a donation because we were so enamored by the museum. Definitely worth a visit if you're into WW2 history! Svolvær is an old beautiful small town with a rich history!

This museum has an awesome WW2 collection! Not neatly packed in chronological order, just stuffed to the brim with cool memorabilia. From swastika-Christmas bellls to an alarm horn from battleship Tirpitz. And it's right next to the cruise terminal, so if you're traveling the norwegian coastal route and only have 40 minutes in Svolvaer, you can spend 39 of them here. A true walhalla for history buffs!

Set in the former telecommunications building , this is a superb collection of both military and civilian from WW 11 An absolutely huge amount of memorabilia, all on the ground level ,weaves it story of the occupation from the Nazis and the subsequent trials and tribulations. I have visited many a war museum/memorial or sites ,and can safely say this was very intresting, alot of information but more visual visit We were lucky ,as we were the only visitors and the museum attended gave us some insightful information which only enchanced our visit! Worth a visit, even if you are not a big war buff ,as this is more than just about specifically the war,more about the people, lives and how a underdeveloped and much less man power force handled themselves ... Moving and gave me a new prospective on events in this Country

A really great experience. It warms my heart (which is needed during winter in Svolvaer!) that people take time to make History live on. There are a lot of great displays in this museum with fairly unique pieces, and you get to learn more about this lesser known front of the war (and I say that as someone from a country that still keeps Narvik very much alive in its memory) and of the great efforts and sacrifices Norwegians consented in the common struggle against the axis. One improvement, I wish there was at the beginning is a little timeline of the events so that you can more easily make sense of the different things you see in the exhibition afterward. This is the single most impressive WWII collection I've ever seen. I've been to the WWII museum in New Orleans, and that was a first rate exhibition, but the Lofoten War Memorial is in a league of its own. So many unique items collected from such a dark part of our history, but the curator has done an absolute first rate job, labeling and articulating the history behind each item.

Very quick visit due to ship's schedule. Stuffed with WWII memorabilia. Not all labels translated into English, but interesting nonetheless. Great for WWII buffs.

Amazing compact collection. William Hakvaag is incredible person inspiring learning history of WWII through collected artifacts and great stories behind collecting and people. Local stories interlace with the global history which helps you dive through the time. William made a great work!

Amazing experience to see all these WW2 relics displayed. There are German, Russian, Norwegian, Danish, American and others on display. Weapons are real and not replicated, most are in good condition and you can see a lot of details on them. If you have the chance to go, do yourself the favor!

Great little museum with lots of interesting pictures and artifacts telling a story of real people's wartime experience. Not all items were tucked in glass displays allowing for an appreciation of the fabrics and materials used in clothing and uniforms. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff.

One of the best WWII collections I have seen. Their collection of German soldier uniforms and equipment is amazing. The caretaker is also great. He told us numerous stories about the items in the museum as well as what went on in and around Norway during the war.
