Visited this temple during an interesting ceremony involving tall puppets that are meant to resemble the gods. Its a great place to see cultural heritage of Taiwan when in Taipei, and is also near some night markets. Its also an active worship site so many devotees come here to pray. Definitely one of the most interesting experiences I had in Taipei, would recommend tourists come.

This has got to be one of the most iconic places of worship in Taipei. It’s highly advisable to go on a morning as it gets too crowded the rest of the day. As for public transport, buses and train station are readily available. Take as much pictures as every nook and crevice is interesting enough.

This Buddhist temple is one of the most famous in Taipei. Once you enter the front gate, in the middle is the main temple but there are alleys around it with many other worship places, all beautifully decorated. Around the temple there are speakers with religious music. Regardless of your religious beliefs, you can spend some time here to enjoy the beauty that surrounds you.

This temple was built by worshippers who raised money to build it back in the 18th century. It was refurbished in 1815. It was built in the classical design of a square-shaped four-chamber structure with three entrances. At the entrance, you will see the only molded pillar with dragon patterns is Taiwan. Pay also attention to the spiral caisson, which symbolizes the Wheel of Fortune in Buddhism. Please respect the ones who are worshipping at the place.

The most beautiful temple in Taiwan ❤️. Built in the 18 th century and rebuild many times after damage by earthquakes and typhoons. It's dedicated to bodhisattva of mercy, Guanyin. You can appreciate Taiwanese religion in here.

Such a wonderful experience visiting this temple. It’s not just the sights, but the smell of incense and the sound of the music too. So much detail everywhere you look - you can really spend a long time here just noticing everything. This is definitely a must for anyone visiting Taipei!

Very serene and beautiful temple. There were a lot of locals performing prayers during my visit. There were also chanting broadcasted which made it serene and calm. The architecture is beautiful. There is a large waterfall at one side of the entrance while a koi pond on the other side. Access to the temple is right outside of the Longshan temple mrt station. Hence, very convenient to oay a visit.

Probably one of the most iconic temples in Taiwan. There are a few things you need to be aware of (as far as I know): 1. You cannot just sit anywhere in the temple. If you want to sit, the easiest way is to imitate the locals. 2. You can buy many types of amulet that will (probably) protect you from an unfortunate incident or make your business prosper. 3. Taking photos is fine, but please respect the place. Personally I avoided using the flash and making a weird pose. 4. There is free water with a paper cup inside. 5. There is a pond with carps. Do not feed them though.

A wonderful temple right off the MRT station. I don't even care for the religion, but the architecture is just so beautiful. I used to fly kites at this temple when I was a kid; this brings back memories.

A very large temple which is well attended. You will see many locals and visitors burning incense, offering food to the gods, and praying reverently. I suggest reading up on the traditions for this kind of temple before you go so you understand the practices going.

It was my favourite place in all the stops we made in our short visit to Taipei. Welcoming environment, most ppl are very respectful as it's not only a place that tourists may stop but a temple for prayer and meditation. 🙏🏼Come to do both and leave, filled with loved. Longshan Temple in Taipei is perhaps Taiwan's most well known and busiest place of worship, but packed with tourists. Beautifully painted carvings of dragons and such and paintings are everywhere. The smell of incense permeates the air. Make an offering, light a stick of incense, bow your head, and say a prayer, can't hurt. Lucky charms for various hopes are also for sale. There is even a small garden. This is really a must-see place when visiting Taipei for the first time.

Rich history and cultural temple. Many people there for praying, brought some charm and if you believe and pray sincerely come heart, it might gives you what you wish after you put in your best efforts. Must visit when in Taipei. At least get the vibe, easily accessible by subway and if it doesn’t suit, then hop back on the subway and one stop to Ximending for shopping, dinning and drinking, no losses.

Very nice temple with intricate carvings of wood and stone. Many people pray and give offerings of food and flowers. Some old people also stay there and sit to pray. It is crowded because it is popular and near the Ximen area. They have a man-made waterfall and fountain with big koi fish. The temple is maintained nicely and it is clean. Toilet is also there and it clean.

This is a very nice temple. One star subtracted because the area can be sketchy. A lot of homeless. There are different gods that you can pray to. Restrooms are down the stairs but be warned that you may have to grab some toilet paper before going into the stalls.

This is a well preserved temple in the middle of the city. Faithfuls are aplenty here to pray for good test results. Like many other temples here in Taiwan, this is a place with hodgepodge of gods, some traditional Buddhism gods, but also some folklore gods that are on display here. You can try your luck by picking a “fate card” and then take it over to a window where someone would decipher the meaning of your card. The location is excellent as it sits right outside of the metro station and close to a night market and some old streets with shops. Some reviews thought this place was sketchy and with many homeless people. I disagree with that assessment as it’s very safe and very few visible homeless people. Those reviewers must not have been to LA, SF or just about any major city in the US where the homeless and crime problems are 100x worse than Taipei. Although this area was the former (not sure about now) red lights district, but the area is really safe as in the rest of this busy city. Finding a parking space close by may require a miracle from one of the gods here, so take the metro and you will thank yourself.

Beautiful temple, seen on the details of every corner of the place. Easy to access by metro, Longshan station. No waiting. Audio guide available. English brochure to introduce various gods available. There are both locals and tourists, including monks praying in the temple. Tourists be aware to pay respect and keep low voice inside the area.

It's my 2nd time to go here and I decided to visit this place last lunar new year. There were a lot of people in the temple. And most of them are buying some charms in the temple. I remember you can buy a charm depending on what your intend usage of it.

Bangka Lungshan Temple is a buddhist temple that can be easy to get to, by taking the metro the the station itself. The temple is beautifully designed, and huge enough to accomodate thousands of visitors. Visitors are free to take photos, but just be respectful to the believers. There is stalls that sells snacks, as well as gift shop that sells charms and amulet souvenirs. There is a park and a small market nearby, if may want to check it out since you are there already. 👍🏻

Visited here 5 years ago. It’s been a while, and it’s still beautiful. Now, there are more brochures to introduce this temple at the entrance. Also sells food and souvenirs by the entrance and exit.

This was a surprise we were not aware of. We were just walking around the area when we found about this fascinating place. You can actually see the old Taiwan with the Japanese influence of the past centuries. It's a free visit and walk.

I didn't know about this place until I stumbled upon it while wandering the surrounding streets around Longshan Temple. It used to be a center of commerce but the buildings fell into disrepair before being eventually renovated and revitalized into its present state. It's now part museum, part event center. When I was there, a design school was holding a fashion showcase by its students. Lots of info in the exhibits about how the Bopilao Block became an important business district during the industrial boom of Taiwan

No entrance fee. The preserved area in the northern section is the home to more traditional Qing Dynasty-period architecture, while the surrounding streets have already developed.

Nice place, especially when it is near sunset. Do go behind to the back lane to see the exhibits. Informative to read. Better photo moments at back lane as compared from the front (main road).

Spend sometime and learn the local Wanhua district history. The building was kept the style and turned to Art gallery and museum. Walking distance from Longshan Si temple.

This is one of my most favorite visiting. The atmosphere is more than good, feel like flash back to my childhood. It's not big but worth to be here. It's quit convenience to travel, you should add more time after visiting LongShan temple.

Beautiful, historic block worth a visit! If you’re in a rush, skip it. But. If you can, make the time, slow down and take it everything this place has to offer. It’s a testament to the city and how it has grown. The walls tell stories if you take the time to listen. When we were there, there was an exhibition dedicated to the cinematic history, introducing the key milestones in neighbourhoods like Ximen. In addition, another exhibition highlighted the struggles of migrant workers who moved to Taiwan for better lives. The permanent exhibition tells a deeper story about the history of the Taiwanese people and how they thrives in Japanese colonial times.

I mean… if you’re on your way to Longshan or are just in the area, I guess you can take a stroll. Otherwise it’s not worthy to make a trip there just to see the place. There isn’t much information available and no one to explain or give details. Also the buildings were full of people eating and talking to themselves. Most of them were mostly empty, with the exception of a few with antiques and artifacts

I don't know if I would recommend making a specific visit here unless there's an exhibit you're keen on visiting, but it's a nice little area to walk around in. There often seems to be people doing photoshoots here if that's your thing.

Historically part of an extension of Lao Song Elementary School. Its present structure was constructed during the Japanese period. The historical block was refurbished during 2009 to what you see today. Exhibition hall dot around the individual units, some entrance has a fee some not. You'd see lots of photogs here taking snapshots here and there. I remember this place pre CV19 having not much visitors and quiet. Today local and tourist mill about here, revisiting the past. #RP

The block has been restored and there are some interesting exhibitions, for example of old time printing. I hope they would let the tea shops, herbal shops and restaurants to enliven the block.

This mid-sized Carrefour, showcases a clear layout with spacious aisles and smooth traffic flow, offering exceptionally fresh groceries and fruits. It features seating and WiFi at checkout for customer convenience, and notably, a water dispenser on the 2nd floor. The store includes eateries like Mister Donut and McDonald's, a Decathlon, and a variety of shops across floors, including electronics, daily necessities, and a pharmacy. The top floor hosts restaurants and accessible restrooms. Located comfortably near Ximen and Xiaonanmen MRT stations, its well-organized, clean, and bright environment attracts visitors daily.

Reliable supermarket with lots of options to choose from. Prices are competetive notably the food items. There is a food hall at the top floor for those who want something to eat after grocery shopping.

24/7 carrefour supermarket, located near ximen, xiaonanmen and longshan temple, very convenient. It's big, there's almost everything, wide range of products (groceries, electronics, kitchen appliances, and more) with a very affordable price.

A 270 year old temple which is considered one of the 3 major temples in the district. In honor to the goddess Mazu who protects sea fairing people this temple is right at the commercial area. The best time to visit is at night, where the lanterns surrounding the temple cast a golden red glow. #RP

Me and family pray at this temple for years.

The temple is open for the public whether you are interested in the architecture or simply a stop by. It is located in between shops, a small building in this crowded corner of the district. Inside you may follow the orientation to pray for health and peace at each site if the temple. Or you can come down here to enjoy the delicate design of the roof and the columns. They are all well preserved. And don't forget the fish pond before leaving for the next stop.

This is a nice small temple where we went while waiting for our table at Watch BBQ. The temple has some beautiful pillars and a beautiful ceiling with red lamps. Its a very local temple if you walk by just pop in and have a quick look. There are much bigger and nicer temples in Taipei.

Historic temple dedicated to the sea goddess, Mazu, with an ornate interior & a colorful exterior. The temple was built in 1746 with funds donated by immigrant merchants from Zhangzhou and Quanzhou in Fujian, China. It is one of the three major temples in Taiwan from Qing period along with Bangka Longshan Temple and Bangka Zushih Temple.

A place for worshiping of taipei people. Nothing much to see for a traveler. Actually they have Tianhou temple in every city of Taiwan. But the intresting is this one located in the middle of Ximen area which is famous for their chaostic night life and busy daylife. Get here easily by Youbike. The nearest station for parking is inside Xi men.

A temple established from 1746 serving Má-tsoó͘, （媽祖）standing inside of hustle bustle Ximending business district, where historical culture blend into modern atmosphere. I must have been here 6 times over the last 5 years. Lit up 5-incense this afternoon, praying to Má-tsoó͘, guanyin, the bodhisattva of compassion or goddess of mercy, （觀世音菩薩）, Lord Guan （關聖帝君）, Ksitigarbha （地藏王菩薩）, Lord of Land（福德正神）, Tiangong（玉皇上帝）, in the hope of peaceful and smooth future. Naturally, there are, however, others pray for better fortune, better careers, family event including uneventful pregnancy, smooth delivery, specific gender of coming infant or simply happy family. There are quite a long wishes list people can come here pray and seeking for a hope. For those of you reading this, when are you planning to pay a visit and a pray?

This temple was finished in 1859 to worship Ling’an Zunwang (“Revered King of Spiritual Peace”), also known as the King of Qingshan. Thank you to the temple management who gave small trinkets for me to keep. #RP

Beautiful and quiet. We were the only tourists there. The old lady working there was very kind and used Google Translate to direct us to a couple of things we would have otherwise missed.

Very cool temple. Most people stay on the ground floor but there are 2 more to explore. Go to the balcony on the last floor (2nd floor) for some good photo opportunities of the temple

One of the most temple of Taipei, not easy to find but once you start to visit you have the feeling to leave Taipei and the city. The first floor is not that incredible but once you arrived in the back with the Fontaine you start to feel the Zen and on the first floor too and finally go on the last floor and have a look on the roof the detail of the sculpture are incredible. Enjoy

It is a beautiful quiet temple on three levels. The wooden ceilings are intricately carved. At the ground level there are interestng, bigger than life deities flanking the altar ..

I bought a braised pork rice, it's not acceptable for me. Too much rice instead of meat.. I prefer to pay more to get extra meat honestly 😅. I forgot the price, but I think it was 50 ntd per serving cmiiw. My friend said 招牌排骨麵 was really good. Maybe, you can try it later

This night market is frequented more by locals than tourists. I heard it is one of the oldest, if not the oldest night market. It is not a big night market but still has a good mix and sizeable number of street vendors and street food to fulfill all your food cravings.

This market is very fantastic! I think this is the traditional market in Taipei. This street is close to the 龍山寺, which is the oldest temple in Taiwan. Must visit here!

Not recommended as selection of food is limited and the place is significantly dirtier compared to the other night markets. It is just next to the Meng Xia night market and a stone's throw away from the Longshan temple. I would recommend to take a quick mrt ride to ximending for a better crowd and food selection.

Chanced upon this night market while going for foot massage. Small scale but filled with lots of food stalls. Even saw 1 stall with snakes.

A variety of streetfoods from one of the many night markets in Taipei, easily accessible just one stop away from Ximen MRT. Can be quite crowded but great place to absorb the night market vibes and culture, as well as great foods popular with locals.

Had a great time here. Really recommend their braised pork belly rice and a cup of watermelon juice to wash it down. The Taiwanese sausage was also amazing. Would highly recommend you to make a stop if you are around the LongShan Temple station area as it’s a mere 4 minute walk away. (Cut through the station).

This place is close to Longshan temple and is more a local night market than a tourist one so things are rather cheap. The food variety here seems to be more diverse than most of night market I went to in Taipei. I tried the aiyu drink (some kind of herbal jelly in lemonade) and it really helped quench my thirst! I also joined the line for the freshly fried fish cake but it didn't meet my expectation. Stinky tofu here also seems good. Strongly recommended!

It was a very nice experience walking through the night market. It's similar to many other night markets you see in asia. You can shop lots of utility items at reasonable price. Plus several options for eating. What I liked is, though it's like a flee market and filled with sections full of food stalls the place was maintained neat and clean. Every food vendor has a dust bin. It's a place for a pleasant walk in the evening.

Fun to walk through to see a variety of clothing shops and massage shops. However, there isn't much in the way of food. I'd recommend walking through it so that you can get to the other end for the food market instead.

This place is run down and has a few vendors. If you’re at the temple, then take a look. Otherwise, I wouldn’t make a special trip for it.

On B2 there is a cool flea market on the weekends, once a month or so. A few art galleries and exhibitions, too. Cafes and nice places to chill in the summer. B1 has an old fashioned shopping mall with lots of glittery shoes and polo shirts for uncle, massage, acupuncture, jade bracelets and beads.

This place is weird, mostly I think it is for old people and tourist that needs fortune tellers. Not too clean nor too safe is the first impression, not really a place for tourist, though if you believe in geomancy of sorts, you can buy some chinese decorations and old coins.

We passed by here from Longshan Temple going to MRT thinking that there is a shortcut. There are lots of salon and massage here and Chinese antiques. Place quite old and very few people passes by.

I would 100% recommend the cask draw experience - delicious 18 year old cask strength whiskey in a lovely aromatic environment. Katie was a charming and informative host. The splosh and gurgle of the distillers dog was a delight. I don't think I'd recommend the tour however. Our guide was great but it all felt a bit rushed and there wasn't enough time to linger and it all felt a bit constructed. It didn't feel that deep or engaging despite our guides best efforts. The whiskey tasting section was nice but the selection felt geared towards shifting product rather than a really distinctive tasting experience. I'm a whiskey enthusiast not an expert but there wasn't enough contrast between the whiskeys being tasted. You could buy the whiskeys as you exit through the gift shop though... You do get a good couple of drams for your ticket fee so there's good value in that. On balance though I'd recommend you get the cask draw for €10, buy a drink in the bar and go to the Guinness storehouse for the afternoon and enjoy the sunset in the gravity bar.

Great experience. Lots of people but really well managed with small group guided tours provided. Hats off to you guys at Jameson’s. Our guide Leah S was really brilliant; informative and entertaining as well as friendly and polite, making it a really worth while visit, highly recommended. Not too hard sell, just really interesting and enjoyable experience. Lots of credit was given to all the workers over the years who have made this such a success as reflected in the company logo of a man (labourer) with a barrel on his back. This is a ‘must see’ experience.

Made reservations for a Monday evening Cocktail Class. Loved the distillery and bar area - great vibes and decor! Enjoyed our cocktail class and even had a few more at the bar area after. We did visit the gift shop and were hoping/expecting it to have many more items, but it was quite small. Would recommend signing up for one of their activities if you appreciate whsikey!

We did the Jameson Distillery Tour and had an amazing experience. It lasted about an hour, and our tour guide Sean was hilarious! He went through the entire distilling process in detail and made it interesting. And the best part - WHISKEY! I highly recommend the orange "water of life" 😉 I don't want to spoil the tour so check it out for yourself, it's worth it! And something you absolutely need to see when visiting Dublin

This was a quick walk from center city & also the Guinness Storehouse, and is in a quaint area. We did the 45 minute tour with Alex and she was INCREDIBLE! So fun, knowledgeable, and engaging. The bar is also a great, warm spot to relax at the end. We would definitely come back.

Visited in 2022. This is a must if you are a fan of Jameson. The atmosphere is great as soon as you walk in. Cool bar right when you enter where they have very good cocktails. Their gift shop is great, lots of cool items that will make great gifts. They even have a few bottles that are exclusive to the Guinness store that you can personalize with your name on the label. We did the tour and the guide was amazing! He was so good at keeping everyone engaged and the content of the tour was really entertaining. We paid extra to taste from a cask that they tap open in front of you. This is something they do not bottle for sale. Overall, highly recommend it! P.S. I heard from a local in Dublin that he had gone on a tour awhile back and it wasn’t good but they had updated the tour a few years back and he had gone back as well and was much better. So if you had gone awhile ago and was disappointed, try again! Book ahead of time!

I did the Standard Bow Street Experience your which includes a drink on arrival to take with you on the 40+ min tour, learning about the history of Jameson, how the famous whiskey is made and whiskey taste testing. Molly our guide was very nice and informative. Really enjoyed it. Definitely recommend it.

The Bow St Experience tour is well organized. Tour guide was nice, tried to engage as much as she could and entertained us. Comparative tasting was good and fun. At the end you get a voucher for a drink. I would 100% recommend ginger&lime cocktail even if you prefer neat whiskey. What made this a 5 star review was a cask draw experience in their live maturation warehouse in the building. We had an absolute craic there with tour guide Niall (kudos!) who just shinned with the love for whiskey. He was very insightful with tonnes of knowledge. Niall made cask draw experience worth every penny.

Not a fan of whiskey until today! The explanation how to taste made so much sense that you can actually really learn to enjoy it. Our tour guide was funny and explained everything very passionately. In total 4 drinks , one in the ticket you can trade in the begging or end of the tour and 3 more samples in the end of the tour. Used my Go City pass to visit this museum.

I visited 3 whiskey distilleries in Ireland and Jameson had the best experience of any of them, and was one of my favorite things we did in Dublin. The tour was very well put together (and Nial was an excellent guide). The add on cask draw was also cool. The bar there was also really good. In addition to their normal cocktail menu they had a whole old fashioned menu, we tried 3 of them and all were delicious. I would also recommend the bottle your own black barrel option to any whiskey fans.

We did the standard tour and cask draw add-on here and had a great time. Our tour guide, Erin, made it though. She was super awesome and kept us all laughing throughout. I really enjoyed at the beginning she had us all say where we were from and kept engaging with all of us so it didn’t feel like a normal run of the mill tour. While you don’t see the inner working of a factory, I felt like I did learn a lot. The cask draw was totally worth it in my opinion. They bring you inside a room that is full of whisky barrels and pull it straight up from one of them for you to try. The taste was so different than the bottled versions with it being extra burning and warmed your chest, very cool.

Fantastic tour and experience for any Whisky fan or even those new to the drink - the whole experience was very enjoyable and our tour guide was welcoming, knowledgable and very friendly. You are out into timed groups and have a history lesson of Guinness, details on the manufacturing process and then finally a Jameson taste off vs Scottish Whisky and American Bourbon. Once finishing you are free to go to the bar and redeem your drink which are great! We definitely spent a while at the bar trying different drinks on the menu (would highly recommend the Irish coffee) All in all a very worthwhile experience - options are also available should you wish to do extended tours or private events (which looking back would’ve been great to do the cask tasting session)

We loved this tour. It was interactive, engaging and informative. We did the Guinness tour as well and found that one to be a bit of a money grab as it was primarily self guided. I’m not a whiskey drinker and enjoyed this tour anyway. A lot of pride from the folks who are employed by Jameson. You can tell it’s a well managed organization and they must treat their people well as everyone was passionate about their job and pleasant to ask questions to. The tour and tasting were well thought out. It exceeded my expectations. I would do it again next time I return.

Our tour guide was amazing. She gave us the history of Jameson in a fun and informative way. It was great to hear the Bourbon barrels of Kentucky contribute to the flavor of certain Jameson whiskeys. We fell in love with this place and enjoyed their new Orange Whiskey. My GF who was not a whiskey drinker now makes Ginger and Jameson a regular on her order menu. We purchased some personalized whiskey for my daughter and now son-in-law along with making our own bottle of whiskey was a great experience. 5 stars all day and a must when you visit Dublin

you must come here and do a tour if you're in dublin! we had an amazing tour guide (ronnie) who made the experience so good. the history and process of making the whiskey was absolutely fascinating and we loved every minute. you get to sample 3 whiskies before getting your grog (free drink) at the end of your visit. The gift shop is big with a lot of items such as hoodies, t-shirts, hats, posters etc. cant recommend enough!

Had the most amazing time at the Jameson cocktail making class! Loved the atmosphere, the mixologist Marco was fabulous - friendly, funny and knowledgeable! We learnt some really cool tips and tricks and of course enjoyed the whiskey! Highly recommended…

My boyfriend and I went to Jameson's yesterday and we had a great great time, we're home visiting family and to celebrate St Paddy's day.... the staff were really great, we got to chat properly with Margaret, in the gift shop, really knowledgeable and friendly and of course our guide Leah was just fantastic.... another lovely girl in the gift shop who helped us with tax back, as he's from America, sorry I didn't get her name, we started with delicious old fashioned cocktails, 12€ each, then we did the 45 minute tour, we booked online 30€ each, it included a complimentary drink, choice of Jameson neat, or with lemonade or with ginger ale. You were able to bring this on the tour instead of rushing...... the tour itself included tasting of Jameson distillery blend, Crested Jameson and Black Barrel Jameson, it was a great experience and I will definitely go back and try one of the other tours another day..... well done Jameson x

Great experience, the basic tasting is a great deal, includes the post experience drink and a nice variety of cocktail options at the end. We went in the slow season, during winter and it was really quiet which made it even better. Took our time and only had a handful of people in our tasting. Loved learning the history, it's not as extravagant as say Guinness, but it's much more educational and interesting.

We came here and did the Bow St Experience followed by the Cask Draw which were two incredible experiences. The tour was fantastic (Alex was our tour guide and she was incredibly fun and informative) and the Cask Draw was such a unique experience where we got to try a 21 year whiskey straight from the barrel. Niall talked us through that process and gave us so much information about the whiskey. The experience is immeasurably better than the Guinness Storehouse and is very interactive, a must visit in Dublin!

Cocktail making class! Great if not the best option to choose from the different activities. Worth booking in advance as there’s not always availability. Good fun with great atmosphere! Reduced groups of max 16 people, the activity allows you to make 2 cocktails from scratch with guidance from an expert cocktail maker. Starting with a whiskey tasting the class followed with the details, ingredients and instructions of two different cocktails (changing depending on the season) and ends the session with a third drink on a private area of the distillery prepared by the instructor. Great option for any occasion from a family event to a friend gathering. Price per person at the time of visit was 60€. Further details can be found on the official site website.

Embracing the auspicious geomantic sign of the "beauty cave," a tranquil lotus pond was meticulously dug in front of the temple, giving rise to the enchanting "beauty mirror" effect. In 1924, during the 13th year of the Taisho era, Longshan Temple underwent renovation in Mengka, and a park was established in the area. The centerpiece of the park was the majestic dragon body fountain, creating a mesmerizing reflection in the pool. Subsequently, in 1927, during the 2nd year of the Showa era, the park was officially opened and named Longshan Temple Park. It soon became one of the prominent metropolitan parks in pre-war Taipei, symbolizing its grandeur and significance. In 1992, during the 81st year of the Republic of China, the Taipei City Government undertook the restoration of the site, transforming it into a folk park. Three years later, in 1995, the city government commissioned Luo Chihuang Architects to develop a comprehensive plan for the park. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on February 14, 1999, with Mayor Ma Ying-jeou presiding over the momentous occasion. After six years of dedicated efforts, the park was finally opened to the public on January 22, 2005, during the 94th year of the Republic of China, showcasing its remarkable transformation and renewed splendor.

A park constructed around 1728 used to be known as Park nr 12. Named after the Taiwanese aboriginal boat. Similar to the Filipino bangka. There is a metro station down below. You will find lots of old folks longing around the area, if not playing weqi. An old park near an old temple and the old Taipei business street. #RP

Quite small but lively park. There is a fountain in front and lots of people playing something like chess. You will pass by here if you want to go to Longshan Temple from MRT station.

Built in 1887 dedicated to the Deity known as Master Qingshui, a Buddhist monk who saved a town and performed miracles during the Northern Song period. A cute temple which stretches far back. Pre CV19, I remember an old man showing me around the temple, featuring the original temple pillars out at the back of the temple. #RP

A small but well-preserved temple to learn history of Taipei and Taiwan.

Ancient Taoism / Buddhism temple established several hundred years ago. Its establishment is due to some historical reason and now it's a popular temple in old Taipei city.

It is one of the four temples in north Taiwan which worship black-faced Qingshui Master, originated in the 10th century, as the Main God, and the largest and the most famous one is Sanxia Temple which was rebuilt in 1947. Quinshui Master was believed to be a monk, named Chen In, in the Sung Dynasty. Unlike Sanxia Temple, which has very artistic wood, stone, and cooper sculptures of birds and historical story figures, Banka Qingshui Temple does not have much animal or human figure sculptures and but it has excellent preservation of large and natural more-than-100-years-old stone steps and wood and stone pillars in simplicity, although the temple looks somewhat shabby and nothing unique from outside. Qingshan Temple has various collection of Taoist and folklore deities puppets which are used for religious parade and worship practices. Visitors can spend some times to enjoy their artistic drawing, painting and clothing design, although their eyes are also rather unique. The temple is in short walking distance from Dragon Mountain (Lungshan) Temple, about 7 minutes walking dusrance. Temple is small, but it is an active participant in Taoist and folklore religious parade activities. The temple also serve as the gathering playground for the locals, including occasional free movie show for the locals. Visitors can consider to include the Temple, Lungshan Temple, and Qinshan Temple, with Bopiliao Block and Huashi Night Food Market as an one-day trip place. From Taipei Train Station, visitors can take Taipei MRT BL Route and get off Lungshan Temple to reach the area easily. Visitors can also walk from Ximen shopping area to Wanhua district easily. On August 28, 2021, because of Covid 19 pandemics, the Temple still locks down its temple from worshippers and visitors, unless the worshippers are regular worshippers who support the Temple's operations via periodic donations. However, worshippers can practice worship outside the temple's worship hall [actually courtyard].

Though it feels underwhelming after Longshan Temple, Bangka Qingshui Temple appears better preserved. The painting of the roof sculptures is bright, and inside the log rafters are painted with traditional scenes and scenarios, also clear and bright. And this is a plus for weary travelers: this site is not packed with tourists, but peopled mainly the occasional worshipper.

I bought a braised pork rice, it's not acceptable for me. Too much rice instead of meat.. I prefer to pay more to get extra meat honestly 😅. I forgot the price, but I think it was 50 ntd per serving cmiiw. My friend said 招牌排骨麵 was really good. Maybe, you can try it later

This night market is frequented more by locals than tourists. I heard it is one of the oldest, if not the oldest night market. It is not a big night market but still has a good mix and sizeable number of street vendors and street food to fulfill all your food cravings.

This market is very fantastic! I think this is the traditional market in Taipei. This street is close to the 龍山寺, which is the oldest temple in Taiwan. Must visit here!

Not recommended as selection of food is limited and the place is significantly dirtier compared to the other night markets. It is just next to the Meng Xia night market and a stone's throw away from the Longshan temple. I would recommend to take a quick mrt ride to ximending for a better crowd and food selection.

Chanced upon this night market while going for foot massage. Small scale but filled with lots of food stalls. Even saw 1 stall with snakes.

A variety of streetfoods from one of the many night markets in Taipei, easily accessible just one stop away from Ximen MRT. Can be quite crowded but great place to absorb the night market vibes and culture, as well as great foods popular with locals.

Had a great time here. Really recommend their braised pork belly rice and a cup of watermelon juice to wash it down. The Taiwanese sausage was also amazing. Would highly recommend you to make a stop if you are around the LongShan Temple station area as it’s a mere 4 minute walk away. (Cut through the station).

This place is close to Longshan temple and is more a local night market than a tourist one so things are rather cheap. The food variety here seems to be more diverse than most of night market I went to in Taipei. I tried the aiyu drink (some kind of herbal jelly in lemonade) and it really helped quench my thirst! I also joined the line for the freshly fried fish cake but it didn't meet my expectation. Stinky tofu here also seems good. Strongly recommended!

It was a very nice experience walking through the night market. It's similar to many other night markets you see in asia. You can shop lots of utility items at reasonable price. Plus several options for eating. What I liked is, though it's like a flee market and filled with sections full of food stalls the place was maintained neat and clean. Every food vendor has a dust bin. It's a place for a pleasant walk in the evening.

Fun to walk through to see a variety of clothing shops and massage shops. However, there isn't much in the way of food. I'd recommend walking through it so that you can get to the other end for the food market instead.

Night market that felt like a place locals visit more than tourist. Different kind of feeling but great to take a look at the different kind of not so trendy food out at touristy area

Classic old-styled market that's worth a visit to reminisce traditional markets of yesteryears, with shopkeepers peddling their wares, fresh produce and poultry and seafood. A lot of them are of the older generation, looking fit as they go about being busy chatting with regular customers or attending to the many duties of running a shop. It's got a lovely old world atmosphere and juxtaposes with the modern and hip coffee place located right next door inside the Shintomicho Cultural Centre.

100% magical place - feel like this is a time capsule that preserved 1980’s Taipei. Meanwhile, it’s very comfortable place to hang out in.

Market strip is nothing too special, but there is plenty of food and trinkets for sale.

It’s a chill little market. Nothing out of the blue. Doesn’t seem crowded, so if you want something low key, it’s probably a good one for you.

Can get tasty ready-to-eat dishes such as fried seafood and smoked chicken here.

This is a wonderful Japanese style market which is very different from Taiwan traditional market and a place of history. One can shop the delicious and reasonable priced cuisines in the market, and then oder one drink to enjoy the food in the bar. How amazing!

An urban regeneration project integrated with the adjacent food market, visitors can visit the traditional food market, buy products, and bring them here to eat and buy alcoholic beverages. Seating is first come first serve. Spaces and the building can be rented out for events and there is a kitchen and classroom style rooms. The exhibition introduces the history of the space.

With the local Xinfu market just footsteps away and connected to Shintomicho Cultural Market, this is a must-stop for visitors to develop a deeper understanding of the history of the place, and when it was built in 1935 during the Japanese colonial period. It's now a learning center, and a low-rent workspace for young designers, while also housing the visitors . It's unique horseshoe design facilitated good airflow ventilation back in the day when it housed the market itself.

Worth to visit if you love minimalist interior, learn the history of local market or love to have a tea time. It's also an instagram-worthy spot. To get a chill time at the cafe, you need to order at least one drink. We love their cheese cake very much! Iced drink also very refreshing

It is inside a traditional wet market. There is a Japanese house next to it. The restoration is so impressive that you can learn the history of Taiwan market culture during the japan occupation time and now.

Inside the teashop that used to be the residence of the temple's abbot, there is an old drawing about how the temple complex looked. This drawing is on the package of one of the tea they sell. After I could see this old picture, I could much better appreciate and feel the atmosphere of Nishi Hoganji Temple. The tea shop is open till 6 pm.

Cost: Free English: signs have translations Recommended: if you’re into Japenese Architecture and are walking to Lungshaun Temple. This area, originally designed to be a mausoleum and surrounds burnt down in 1975. The temple bell is recast and sits within the relics. The area itself is a nice spot to sit down, read and relax which many of the locals seem to do. There’s a tea house also right nearby.

This is a lovely place to see a small Japanese looking temple high up on a tiny hill. The surrounding is so serene which is ideal for kids and adults to spend some time to relax. Nearby is a tea house which is a good place to chill.

The place is at close approximate to Taipei West Gate the Ximen area. There is a bell tower that was rebuilt during the place's recent restoration project. The English name should be West Hoganji and 西本願寺 in Japanese. There's no actual temple structure any more since the original temple was burn down years ago. What it remains now is the landmark bell on a small hilltop and the site which the temple was once stands on. The park has become a good place for the local resident to host events and take their kids to have some family time together. If you do have the time, come and take some photos here with the old bell.

This is another interesting spot in the area for those interested in history and culture. It’s the site of a Buddhist temple built during the Japanese colonial era. It burned down in the ‘70s but there are some other buildings that were restored or spared nearby. It’s a beautiful little park with informative signs, a tea shop, and a photo gallery.

Japanese pronunciation: Taipei Nishi Hon-gang-shi. In 1897, the temple land was bought, 1900 stared the constructions, 1924 finished the main building cluster. After WW II, it beam the martial office of KMT, and burnt in 1975(in a fire accident). Taipei city government reconstructed part of the building cluster except the main temple, and officially recognized as the Japanese culture remains in 2006. Now you can get here by MRT blue line, Xi-man-ting station, walk around 10 minutes to arrive. It is becoming a park now, but not go with the messy and ugly building around it.
