This place looks really awesome during high season with tons of activities. However, during early May we paid ~70 CHF per person to see only fog. We will need to visit Switzerland again for a rectified experience.

Great place. When we went in April it was rainy and foggy. But it was still wonderful as you will see from the pictures and videos. Once we reached the top, we didn't see much due to the fog. The walk from the bus stop is mostly uphill, so be mindful. The ride was free with the Swiss Travel Pass.

A must do experience when in Lucerne! Yes, it is expensive (as everything is in Switzerland), but if you have a visitor pass from your hotel, there a small discount. To get there take bus 1 to Pilatus Zentrum, and then follow red arrows up the hill to the cable car station. There are two cable cars: the first one will take you half way, those are small cabins for up to 4 people. This is a long ride, and it runs smoothly, you can't even hear the birds in the woods. Then, you switch to a bigger car that carries you to the top of the mountain: these run every 15 minutes and take about 10 minutes to get to the top. The view is stunning! Try going on a clear day, when you can see half Switzerland from there. We went on Sunday at 8:30 and it was not crowded. It looked much more full on the way back, so go early. The entire trip up and down and some sightseeing at the top took about 2 hours.

The day we planned on going, it was cloudy in the morning but a slight opening in the afternoon, the remaining 2 days were due to be low cloud and raining. So we decided to chance going in the afternoon. Took the number 1 bus to the cable car station. When you get off the bus go up the steps to the church and out the back follow the path. It was still cloudy when we got half way up, we couldn't see the top so we got out and had our packed lunch. We went on the Toboggan run, great fun! When we looked up again, we could see the top so we got the cable car up. We spent the most incredible few hours drinking in the views. We had hot Gluiwein from the cafe. We fed the birds with some nuts we had, they eat from your hand. The cog train wasn't working, it was just the cable car. Incredible views when it's clear of cloud.

This makes for a great day trip! If the weather is good, head to the top for great views all around! Also nice to hike some sections with cable car over head.

Beautiful experience! It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity to visit Mount Pilatus and YES the cable car or Gondolas is a sight to travel and experience it. They are red in colour and looks like Dragons from far. The gondolas crisscrossing is a sight in itself. This single ride is worth the effort and money. Mount Pilatus was awesome and so is the ride by cable car. The cable car takes us to breathtaking places and the places it covers was stunning. The gondolas crisscrossing in fog or cloud is worth clicking pictures for a lifetime, such is the beauty.

I'm an anxious person so I was expecting to be nervous all the time but it did not happen after the gear was put on me and my pilot started to explain the jump in details. The four of us flew tandem, two at a time, one with Marcel and one with Jonas, and two waited up top at the nice cafe/patio for their turn….the cafe is a good place for the non-flyers in your group to hang out and enjoy the scenery. We all said it was our favorite day of our ten day trip to Europe. Just do it!

I was lucky enough to do a last-minute paragliding experience this summer at Mount Pilatus with Marcel which was out-of-this-world amazing!!!!!!!!! Stunning location, fantastic views across Switzerland for miles and miles (well, kilometers!), a thrilling take-off running down a mountain slope and a mind-blowing experience of floating supported in thin air! Not having done many activities involving the sky before, I was a bit nervous beforehand, but Marcel is clearly very experienced and I felt complete trust in his ability to handle all conditions. He was also fun to chat to during the flight and knowledgeable about the Swiss landscape, and his enthusiasm for this sport is infectious. I could ramble on for ages about how it was but all I can really say is that you MUST get out here and experience it for yourself! 110% recommended!!!

From the top of Mount Pilatus we flew for over an hour high in the sky and even flying directly above the Pilatus gondola as it was going up and down. If you want to paraglide in Switzerland, book this flight with Marcel! Skip the paraglide factory in Interlaken. Interlaken is very popular for paragliding and there are several places to book online. However, there are so many gliders there, that the sky looks like vultures circling. The flight in Interlaken is from a lower elevation mountain and takes you directly to the landing point in ~20 minutes so they can turnover more customers. Conversely, for about the same price, Marcel launches from the top of Mount Pilatus. He then climbs in altitude (I reached ~8,900 ft) and then takes you on a flight up to 1 hour. I waited 30-40 min in the line despite the fact that I had an online ticket purchased before. You should consider 2-3 hours at the peak of the mountain. There are several points to eat, souvenir and Swiss watches shops and restaurants. Don't forget to wear comfy clothes and shoes, otherwise it will be difficult to hike.
