Mount Maunganui in Tauranga Visited on 29/1/2019 Mount Maunganui is also known by the Maori as Mauao. It is a large lava dome formed two to three million years ago. Do not be deceived by the name "Mount Maunganui". It is nothing more than just a low hill of 232 metres. We walk along the Salisbury Wharf / Pilot Bay side, following the board walk. My wife and I take the easier Base Track, while our friends decide to walk up to the summit by the Summit Track. Although the latter is a shorter track, it demands more stamina to walk up the slope. From the track, we can catch a good view of the picturesque Pilot Bay, and some ships sailing pass. It is a hot day, and we finish drinking the water we take along before we complete our walk. The ending point is on the different side of the peninsula. We are surprised that our friends arrive at the foothill 20 minutes later than us. We meet at the information centre, and cool ourselves down in air-conditioned comfort. What a relief! Toilets facilities are available near the 8nfirmation centre.

We love this area! The town, restaurants and shopping are great. The beaches are beautiful and wide, and there are wonderful hiking trails around the base of the mountain, and up to the top. Take the time to make the short (but sometimes a little steep) climb to the top to enjoy the views!

Amazing place for walking and Running

Great spot to relax and enjoy the sea breeze.

Awesome spot chips are good. Only problem is you can't phone order at the chip shop. But hey the friendly staff and chips are well worth ordering over the counter.

Pilot Bay is more fun than the maon beach. Something I enjoy doing is eating hot chips and occasionally throw one for the seagulls until an army of hundreds of seagulls surround me. Then, I walk down the boardwalk, seagulls in tow, and casually assert dominence.

Beautiful setting, laid back atmosphere. Can swim,snooze on beach, fish, take a boat ride,play ball with kids, putt putt golf and other attractions nearby. At weekend,food & craft markets a few minutes walk, accessible public toilets & change facilities.

Very safe swimming beach for young and old. Great broadwalk along the waterfront with several seats to take a moment to enjoy the views and happenings. Bring a picnic dinner and enjoy the fantastic sunsets.

Great lead in to walk round the mount. Great for young families to take the kids to swim in as it has no surf to speak off. Ready access to downtown the mount which is only a block away. Always a great place to watch the cruise ships and other vessels arriving at the port

This place is awesome for watch the cargo ships come in an out of the port . Great swimming spot . Expect alot of people tho. Parking is also a nightmare.other then those couple points this place is superb

A quiet calm beach to simply relax and take in the scenery under the palms, a walk around the mountain if your feeling fit, and don't forget to finish off the day by by having a real fruit ice cream (with whipped cream, fudge, nuts and sauce 😋) at Copenhagen cones on the corner, yum!

Lovely venue. Heaps of people on the beach. Piano players as well. Saw the big boat leaving and a wedding on the beach.

I would 100% recommend the cask draw experience - delicious 18 year old cask strength whiskey in a lovely aromatic environment. Katie was a charming and informative host. The splosh and gurgle of the distillers dog was a delight. I don't think I'd recommend the tour however. Our guide was great but it all felt a bit rushed and there wasn't enough time to linger and it all felt a bit constructed. It didn't feel that deep or engaging despite our guides best efforts. The whiskey tasting section was nice but the selection felt geared towards shifting product rather than a really distinctive tasting experience. I'm a whiskey enthusiast not an expert but there wasn't enough contrast between the whiskeys being tasted. You could buy the whiskeys as you exit through the gift shop though... You do get a good couple of drams for your ticket fee so there's good value in that. On balance though I'd recommend you get the cask draw for €10, buy a drink in the bar and go to the Guinness storehouse for the afternoon and enjoy the sunset in the gravity bar.

Great experience. Lots of people but really well managed with small group guided tours provided. Hats off to you guys at Jameson’s. Our guide Leah S was really brilliant; informative and entertaining as well as friendly and polite, making it a really worth while visit, highly recommended. Not too hard sell, just really interesting and enjoyable experience. Lots of credit was given to all the workers over the years who have made this such a success as reflected in the company logo of a man (labourer) with a barrel on his back. This is a ‘must see’ experience.

Made reservations for a Monday evening Cocktail Class. Loved the distillery and bar area - great vibes and decor! Enjoyed our cocktail class and even had a few more at the bar area after. We did visit the gift shop and were hoping/expecting it to have many more items, but it was quite small. Would recommend signing up for one of their activities if you appreciate whsikey!

We did the Jameson Distillery Tour and had an amazing experience. It lasted about an hour, and our tour guide Sean was hilarious! He went through the entire distilling process in detail and made it interesting. And the best part - WHISKEY! I highly recommend the orange "water of life" 😉 I don't want to spoil the tour so check it out for yourself, it's worth it! And something you absolutely need to see when visiting Dublin

This was a quick walk from center city & also the Guinness Storehouse, and is in a quaint area. We did the 45 minute tour with Alex and she was INCREDIBLE! So fun, knowledgeable, and engaging. The bar is also a great, warm spot to relax at the end. We would definitely come back.

Visited in 2022. This is a must if you are a fan of Jameson. The atmosphere is great as soon as you walk in. Cool bar right when you enter where they have very good cocktails. Their gift shop is great, lots of cool items that will make great gifts. They even have a few bottles that are exclusive to the Guinness store that you can personalize with your name on the label. We did the tour and the guide was amazing! He was so good at keeping everyone engaged and the content of the tour was really entertaining. We paid extra to taste from a cask that they tap open in front of you. This is something they do not bottle for sale. Overall, highly recommend it! P.S. I heard from a local in Dublin that he had gone on a tour awhile back and it wasn’t good but they had updated the tour a few years back and he had gone back as well and was much better. So if you had gone awhile ago and was disappointed, try again! Book ahead of time!

I did the Standard Bow Street Experience your which includes a drink on arrival to take with you on the 40+ min tour, learning about the history of Jameson, how the famous whiskey is made and whiskey taste testing. Molly our guide was very nice and informative. Really enjoyed it. Definitely recommend it.

The Bow St Experience tour is well organized. Tour guide was nice, tried to engage as much as she could and entertained us. Comparative tasting was good and fun. At the end you get a voucher for a drink. I would 100% recommend ginger&lime cocktail even if you prefer neat whiskey. What made this a 5 star review was a cask draw experience in their live maturation warehouse in the building. We had an absolute craic there with tour guide Niall (kudos!) who just shinned with the love for whiskey. He was very insightful with tonnes of knowledge. Niall made cask draw experience worth every penny.

Not a fan of whiskey until today! The explanation how to taste made so much sense that you can actually really learn to enjoy it. Our tour guide was funny and explained everything very passionately. In total 4 drinks , one in the ticket you can trade in the begging or end of the tour and 3 more samples in the end of the tour. Used my Go City pass to visit this museum.

I visited 3 whiskey distilleries in Ireland and Jameson had the best experience of any of them, and was one of my favorite things we did in Dublin. The tour was very well put together (and Nial was an excellent guide). The add on cask draw was also cool. The bar there was also really good. In addition to their normal cocktail menu they had a whole old fashioned menu, we tried 3 of them and all were delicious. I would also recommend the bottle your own black barrel option to any whiskey fans.

We did the standard tour and cask draw add-on here and had a great time. Our tour guide, Erin, made it though. She was super awesome and kept us all laughing throughout. I really enjoyed at the beginning she had us all say where we were from and kept engaging with all of us so it didn’t feel like a normal run of the mill tour. While you don’t see the inner working of a factory, I felt like I did learn a lot. The cask draw was totally worth it in my opinion. They bring you inside a room that is full of whisky barrels and pull it straight up from one of them for you to try. The taste was so different than the bottled versions with it being extra burning and warmed your chest, very cool.

Fantastic tour and experience for any Whisky fan or even those new to the drink - the whole experience was very enjoyable and our tour guide was welcoming, knowledgable and very friendly. You are out into timed groups and have a history lesson of Guinness, details on the manufacturing process and then finally a Jameson taste off vs Scottish Whisky and American Bourbon. Once finishing you are free to go to the bar and redeem your drink which are great! We definitely spent a while at the bar trying different drinks on the menu (would highly recommend the Irish coffee) All in all a very worthwhile experience - options are also available should you wish to do extended tours or private events (which looking back would’ve been great to do the cask tasting session)

We loved this tour. It was interactive, engaging and informative. We did the Guinness tour as well and found that one to be a bit of a money grab as it was primarily self guided. I’m not a whiskey drinker and enjoyed this tour anyway. A lot of pride from the folks who are employed by Jameson. You can tell it’s a well managed organization and they must treat their people well as everyone was passionate about their job and pleasant to ask questions to. The tour and tasting were well thought out. It exceeded my expectations. I would do it again next time I return.

Awesome informative tour. Our guide was amazing, answered all our questions and showed the history of some of the best Irish whiskeys in the world. Wonderful samples at the end. Got some bottles you can't get anywhere else!

Our tour guide was amazing. She gave us the history of Jameson in a fun and informative way. It was great to hear the Bourbon barrels of Kentucky contribute to the flavor of certain Jameson whiskeys. We fell in love with this place and enjoyed their new Orange Whiskey. My GF who was not a whiskey drinker now makes Ginger and Jameson a regular on her order menu. We purchased some personalized whiskey for my daughter and now son-in-law along with making our own bottle of whiskey was a great experience. 5 stars all day and a must when you visit Dublin

you must come here and do a tour if you're in dublin! we had an amazing tour guide (ronnie) who made the experience so good. the history and process of making the whiskey was absolutely fascinating and we loved every minute. you get to sample 3 whiskies before getting your grog (free drink) at the end of your visit. The gift shop is big with a lot of items such as hoodies, t-shirts, hats, posters etc. cant recommend enough!

Had the most amazing time at the Jameson cocktail making class! Loved the atmosphere, the mixologist Marco was fabulous - friendly, funny and knowledgeable! We learnt some really cool tips and tricks and of course enjoyed the whiskey! Highly recommended…

My boyfriend and I went to Jameson's yesterday and we had a great great time, we're home visiting family and to celebrate St Paddy's day.... the staff were really great, we got to chat properly with Margaret, in the gift shop, really knowledgeable and friendly and of course our guide Leah was just fantastic.... another lovely girl in the gift shop who helped us with tax back, as he's from America, sorry I didn't get her name, we started with delicious old fashioned cocktails, 12€ each, then we did the 45 minute tour, we booked online 30€ each, it included a complimentary drink, choice of Jameson neat, or with lemonade or with ginger ale. You were able to bring this on the tour instead of rushing...... the tour itself included tasting of Jameson distillery blend, Crested Jameson and Black Barrel Jameson, it was a great experience and I will definitely go back and try one of the other tours another day..... well done Jameson x

Great experience, the basic tasting is a great deal, includes the post experience drink and a nice variety of cocktail options at the end. We went in the slow season, during winter and it was really quiet which made it even better. Took our time and only had a handful of people in our tasting. Loved learning the history, it's not as extravagant as say Guinness, but it's much more educational and interesting.

We came here and did the Bow St Experience followed by the Cask Draw which were two incredible experiences. The tour was fantastic (Alex was our tour guide and she was incredibly fun and informative) and the Cask Draw was such a unique experience where we got to try a 21 year whiskey straight from the barrel. Niall talked us through that process and gave us so much information about the whiskey. The experience is immeasurably better than the Guinness Storehouse and is very interactive, a must visit in Dublin!

Cocktail making class! Great if not the best option to choose from the different activities. Worth booking in advance as there’s not always availability. Good fun with great atmosphere! Reduced groups of max 16 people, the activity allows you to make 2 cocktails from scratch with guidance from an expert cocktail maker. Starting with a whiskey tasting the class followed with the details, ingredients and instructions of two different cocktails (changing depending on the season) and ends the session with a third drink on a private area of the distillery prepared by the instructor. Great option for any occasion from a family event to a friend gathering. Price per person at the time of visit was 60€. Further details can be found on the official site website.

I needed an embroidered wire badge to wear on my blazer pocket for attending military events here in the USA as I wanted to represent my former army unit, the Rhodesian Light Infantry (RLI). I ordered one from the Rhodesian Services Association and the ordering, payment, and shipping from the other side of the world went without any problems, and I received the badge within a few weeks of the order. Like others that have provided feedback, I was absolutely delighted to find that the badge was of an exceptionally high quality and color, which is a breath of fresh air in this day and age! I only recently discovered that I qualified for a Rhodesia General Services medal, so contacted the Rhodesian Army Association & Museum Trust in the UK, who gave me Hugh's contact details, as I now live in Australia. That was less than 6 weeks ago from start to finish of the whole process, and I am now the proud owner of an expertly-made solid silver medal supplied through The Lion & Tusk online store. The service has been fantastic, and very quick, and the mail tracking was easy, and I highly recommend the Museum to anyone who is after Rhodesia memorabilia. I will certainly be visiting the museum when I eventually "cross the ditch".

Being in the UK I have only been able to 'visit' the Lion on Tusk on their Facebook page. From a display perspective, the Museum provides a real, hands-on, insight into our war, and should prove very interesting to veterans and Military enthusiasts alike. The good folks there are also doing a fantastic job preserving Rhodesian history in a time when it's not always popular due to the inaccurate and maliciously untruthful information often found online. They are educating future generations on the real history of that land. Go and visit if you can..... if you can't, visit it online!

We visited at the end of Jan this year. The museum is an excellent display of the history of the Rhodesian armed forces with an incredible number of items extremely well displayed. Hugh was our host and we had a informative time with his wide ranging knowledge of all the displays. This museum is well worth the visit and not to be missed. The best part for me was meeting Hugh face to face, we hadn’t seen each other since we demobbed in 1978, and we had a long walk down memory lane talking of Intake 152 and all our mates.

My wife and I visited the Lion and Tusk Museum on Saturday morning and we are Sooo pleased we did. The place is jam packed with amazing displays, even an Aloette gunship Helicopter, with original guns mounted. We were enthralled by the Videos that displayed the reality of bush war. The displays are TOP shelf. We were welcomed and made to feel comfortable. HIGHLY recommended. Opening times are 10AM to 3PM Thursdays to Sundays

Though I do not live in New Zealand I have done business with the museum. Hugh is very helpful and helped me find what I was looking for. Its important to keep alive the history of the brave men and women of Rhodesia.

I appreciate the time spent with Hugh and Tony. They provided very precious information on Rhodesian politics and history. The museum has got a variety of valuable exhibits that would spot some light on the conflict in Rhodesia. They also sell some goodies that would substantially help with museum's expenses.

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the Lion and Tusk and I would highly recommend it to those interested in history. The exhibits were very well maintained and the collection boasts a comprehensive array of artifacts from a nation lost to the world. The staff were very welcoming and were pleased to answer any questions my Gran and I had for them about the history of Rhodesia. If you have a particular interest in military history, I would highly recommend you visit this museum on your next trip to the Mount. Whether you have heard of Rhodesia or not, there is plenty to learn and much to see at this attraction. Many of the exhibits tell personal stories of soldiers and civilians from Rhodesia and offer some insight into the hardships they endured due to the Communist insurgency. For this reason, the collection is valuable as a fascinating window into a way of life that is hard for those of us without a connection to Rhodesia to imagine. As is customary for a museum, there is a gift shop with quite an array of tasteful offerings. I can personally recommend the history book on the Rhodesia Regiment which was put together by a number of authors including those involved with the museum. This book is a treasure of a reference and like everything else at the museum, the result of a lot of hard work and dedication. I was surprised to hear from the volunteers in the office, that when they did not have one of their nice green poloshirts with the Rhodesian lion on it in my size, that they could simply take my measure and have one made across the street and delivered to me. It is great to see this museum working with many local and small Kiwi businesses. They also offer some items in the iconic Rhodesian bushstroke camouflage which will no doubt interest military history buffs. All in all, this place was well worth the visit and the long drive and I could have happily spent hours in the library alone. Do take the time to speak to the volunteers and buy a few gifts to help preserve what is one of very few Rhodesian collections remaining and definitely the best.

I have not had the privilege of visiting the Lion & Tusk Museum other than on Facebook and virtual displays. However, the museum represents and displays a vital aspect of the former Rhodesian community. Keeping our heritage is an essential part of history and every effort should be made to support and preserve the museum. The museum provides a vital link to former Rhodesian Servicemen that are dispersed across the globe. Thank you for all your extremely hard work

Great mall, got a little lost... perhaps more "you are here" maps? Overall plenty of variety and parking. Getting in and out with the new roads proved a little tricky, however the mall itself was well worth it

Large shopping mall in Tauranga. All the things you may need under one roof. Plenty of lounge chairs at different places inside the mall where you can sit down and relax after much roaming around.

This shopping centre might not be the same size as Auckland's shopping centres(Mt Wellington or St Lukes), but they've got a real good range of stores, no matter what your obsession is. Heaps of car parks, ir if you want to ride your bike, there's plenty of places to park up / lock up your ride. There's even repair stations if you get a puncture and need to fix it. There's Countdown, Farmers and Kmart for all your grocery and household appliance basics. Heaps of clothing brands like Amazon, Cotton on, Dotti, Max, Peter Alexander, and Kathmandu. Whitcoulls is there for your book needs, Pascoes for Jewellery, Vodafone and 2degrees for phones and internet, Smiggles for stationery for the pre school and primary school little ones, Farm street Larder for your coffee hit plus other cafes like Starbucks, The Coffee Club, Esquires and a reasonable food mall for fast food joints like KFC, Macca's, Subway, Pita Pit, Sushi and other food options. And if your children still have got bundles if energy after dragging thrm around all the shops, there's a small climbing frame outside in a children's area that they can play around on. Bayfair's worth a visit for locals and tourists and a place to go and spend some of that free Corona handout money on

Today at 4:00pm. With my wife we wanted to order coffees and food from Esquires Café, when I noticed the top shelf was full of dusty accumulated there above the sauces open containers and where the coffees areready be served are staging. I pointed it out to the staff there, but the manager's reaction was to yell at me teller me "yes, it's dirty up there, now are ordering anything or get out!!!" I will arrange MPI to visit the shop

Good place to spend some time. Parking an issue when in busy times. Good food selection, quality of shopping is good. Spacious and generally clean.

At kmart. Did a lot of clothing shopping. Excellent buys for plus size needing cotton clothes. KK fashions was still expensive and not much of pure cotton. Hot fabric. Food court was good, loved the sushi. Kmart is a excellent place to buy kids toys. Lot cheaper.

Love this centre visit often. Everything you could every need under one roof. Usually have lunch there either in the food court or or one of the separate eateries. The shopping centre is clean warm and often busy. Lots of sitting areas for a rest.

I haven't lived in NZ for long, but this is definitely one of the better shopping malls I've been to. Configured exactly the same as any newer American mall and I mean that in a good way. Lots of shops, insanely good food options, nothing to complain about.

Bayfair has so many different variety of stores all in one building. It caters for children to elderly, supermarket, clothing, gift shops, hairdressers, florists, shoe shops, lotto, different meal places and coffee shops. Definitely a must visit. Plenty of parking with wheelchair parking and access.

Really nice mall. Good food court. Kmart is big and farmers is nice, undergoing renovations. Missing some clothing stores for women in their 30s-50s. I felt like there was a gap for this demographic. Better to go shopping for clothing down at the mount.

Great range of shops - but... as a tourist who has never been there before, I found the signage to public transport completely inadequate. It simply doesn't exist.

Very busy, carpark lights don't work accurately to alert of empty spots. Lots of retail store options. Food court has a good range of food. Toilets are clean and the family room is big with good areas for changing, feeding, toileting. Needs more seating around Countdown and Kmart.

For 3 days i came here 3 times 🙈 i did apply kiwi bank account. People amazing cute and so friendly who workers in kiwi bank. Omg i love them so much especially woman here also i want to thanks her! ❤️ she helped a lot and showed everything ❤️ inside restaurants very nice u can eat everything u can find. Has really expanded since last time I ever lived in Mount Maunganui. Lots more stores to shop in and not always shopping in the same ones. Recommend to shop next time in Mount Maunganui.

It's a nice enough place. Parking is usually pretty scarce - at least at the front of the centre. Drive around the back, and you'll find a multi-storey car park with plenty of space.

Good selection of food, and has various retailers for whatever you need. K-Mart, Farmers, and Woolworths being in one place is a godsend. Has my favourite store, JB Hi-Fi. I do wish they would close later all week instead of just certain days.

Plenty of parking, most retailers/chain stores are there, great choices at the food court, good restaurants/bar outside, Countdown supermarket, Kmart & Farmers stores, mobile stores, JB Hifi, Optometrists, Beauty services, Cinemas, Etc.. All under one roof.

The Mount has one of the best beaches in the world. It stretches for miles and miles. There's always a spot to hang, whether you're looking to walk or run along the beach, surf, Kayak, stand-up paddle boarding, swimming and everything in-between. The closure to Mauao you get, generally the smaller the waves - so go find your spot!

Nice swimming beach and good sunbathing spot. When we went there were quite a lot of beach-goers, so get in early. Remember the sunscreen, otherwise you'll be going home looking like a ripe tomato

The cenotaph is located on the main beach and not too difficult to find. It's near the main sign for the main beach. It isn't very big but it looks really nice with the beach in the background. The area is also quite scenic with Moturiki Island in the background as well as the beach.

Great setting. Views of the match from every place. Average organisation getting thru the gates but luckily we were early so a 30 minute queue didn’t matter too much.

Visited bay oval as cricket match was being played between Indian and New Zealand. It was our first time experience seeing match being played on ground like this, where we have to seat on grass. Ground is very good and we enjoyed the every moment of the match.

Was at the south african VS blackcaps today had a good seat, lovely view over the oval, convenient to the food and toilets. One thing I noticed there was no place to wash one's hands. Get drinking water yes . Thoroughly enjoyed the outing.

The place of cricketer and who loves cricket. I wish ho to the ground fir watching cricket. Recently Bangladesh and Newzeland played ODI and t20 series here.

Not the place to go for lessons. I committed enough $$ to cover lessons for all the main aspects of game. By the 3rd lesson it was obvious Scott had no plan for the lessons at all. Complete waste of my time and money. The driving range is good for a laugh with your mates but not suitable for real golf as balls are not a normal golf ball.

Ordered a practice net online and it was delivered to Auckland the next day. Great communication, seamless transaction.

Had a lesson with Kevin and within minutes after some tweaks had me striking the ball cleaner and straighter. Very positive experience. Went to the range afterwards with some complimentary balls to reinforce the lesson and very happy with the changes. Keen for another lesson.

Love the ball tracking software are being used. Makes up for the roof netting to still be able to tell how far the ball would have gone. Keen to try the virtual course experience some day too

Good driving range. Had a lot of fun there, but the only problem was that the celling net was a little low, so mine and most other peoples shot's would hit the ceiling and then go straight down. Great upgrade with the camera and screen virtual golf system though. It tracks where your ball would have gone and tracks all your past shots. Great if you're trying to compete with someone! Pretty packed, but good place to just talk and have fun with friends. Strongly recommend getting the large instead of mega bucket!

If you want to practice with a club below a 5 or 6 iron, forget about it. There's an 18m net above the length of the driving range which means your ball flight is 'destroyed' - not anyones 'fault' as it's 100% necessary due to proximity to the main road. Also, not a complaint... just an observation and feedback so that folks can make an informed decision BEFORE buying a basket of balls. If you're practicing with your 9-12° loft woods or long irons then it's a nice facility, friendly staff and looks like a well stocked shop.

probably a great service but while I was driving today they did try to cut me off, while illegally merging over a meridian line, and then the old lady driving flipped me the bird when I “pepi” tooted my horn at her. (My wife took the photo)

Good way to spend 30 mins. Is $10 for an adult, $5 per child, pre schoolers are free. Essentially this is a loop around the outer streets of Mount Maunganui (pilot bay and the beach).

The "Pepi Toot" Beach Express, a popular tourist attraction, will take you to places in Mount Maunganui that you might otherwise not see. Starting at Salisbury Avenue you'll take a narrated tour through the streets of Mount Maunganui along Pilot Bay and Marine Parade returning back to your starting point at Salisbury Avenue "toot", "toot"

Our grandson loved it and the driver went our of her way, taking us for a ride even though we were the only passengers and she had meant to finish after the family before us. Thank you ☺️
