Looking for an an activity to keep 3 generations of family entertained whilst in the New Forest, we found this great company and booked Archery and Axe throwing. It was a fabulous couple of hours that we all really enjoyed. Josh our instructor was friendly, patient and chilled. It was such a hot day and he was thoughtful and caring to us and our two dogs. Loved the eliminator! Really nice quiet location in the forest too. Thank you 😊

I found out about this place from social media after someone I knew tagged their experience in a social post. My husbands birthday was coming up and I knew he would love this. I booked and made our way there from Portsmouth, it was just under an hours drive. It was fairly simple to find and once you've turned off the main road and making your way through the country lane, it is very well signposted to find the entrance. Definitely follow the maps location that you receive in the confirmation emails. Parking is clearly signposted and plenty of space to park. A very short walk, once again well sign posted, you come across a clearing where the activities take place. We arrived 30mins early, just due to travelling from so far. Josh was very welcoming and there was a shelter to sit under while he continued to set up. Enjoying the scenery and the peacefulness was lovely. We even saw a rabbit, that we later found out was the resident rabbit called Reginald. Josh began the session with easy to follow safety and facility details and we made our way to archery. Everything was easily explained, technique reviewed to make sure we were safe and got the most out of the day. There were fun games thrown in during the time frame, but once we had all the safety briefing we could go between any activity as much as we liked. It did rain briefly while we were there and you are mostly sheltered by the trees from it, but you will get a little bit wet. I took shelter from a random 5 minute down pour, and then it soon brightened up. It definitely didn't spoil the day. There were 6 of us in total, 3 separate couples. Everyone was very friendly and we have an opportunity to get to know each other during the initial archery session. Josh was a great facilitator, very experienced and knowledgeable, up until very specific questions about archery related injuries from history, which was very amusing. There is drinking water available, a compost toilet, mainly for ladies as men had the option of whatever tree. You are in the middle of a forest afterall. I highly recommend this activity and going for the medieval trio rather than just 1 activity. Easy to book, very affordable and a fantastic day out.

This was our second activity with Insight and we did the Bushcraft experience with Glenn. The experience was absolutely fantastic from start to finish! We foraged, made fire, carved wood and generally enjoyed our time in their beautiful part of the forest! What made the experience superlative was Glenn. His clear passion for the outdoors, his patience and teaching style, and his unbelievable knowledge of so many different things were what made the experience special. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Insight Activities and if you're lucky enough to have Glenn as your guide, you will surely have a brilliant experience!

Fantastic morning of archery and axe-throwing - hosted by the brilliant Jeffrey. Loved getting to know more of the history, the logic behind the techniques and to then put it all to the test. Equipment was high quality too. Would thoroughly recommend! 🏹

We had such a great time with Archery and bush craft. Glen was great as showing us the plants and what they do and helping us make a fire. We had alot fun with archery. Would highly recommend. The team are are friendly and knowledgeable.

We did the medieval Trio here and it was fantastic we had an amazing time. The coaching was great easy to understand the guys really know their stuff! We were even able to take our 3 month old baby along, we’ll definitely be coming back. 10/10

Absolutely brilliant event. Not only were fun and entertainment a priority but so too were the safety factors from Chris and Nick. Filled with knowledge and creating an engaging afternoon our group loved the range of activities and the freedom to float between events especially those who preferred more time on one than the other. We had no experience in any of the events prior but we all absolutely loved it and even learnt quickly thabks to our host chris. Excellent value for money and a great idea for something different.

We were a group of 10 and on our visit did the archery and axe throwing. Josh, the instructor was absolutely excellent. We were all novices and he showed us in detail how to load and fire the bows in safety. It was a really enjoyable couple of hours in serene countryside, the only noise being our laughter and banter and the birds. I would highly recommend this activity. Josh made the day.

My 10 year old grandson and I did the two hour woodland archery at Insight Activities New Forest on Sunday. I was really impressed with the way Josh, the instructor, explained everything before we began, and he continued to give hints and tips on how to improve throughout the time we were there. It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience and great fun! It was good value for money too. We'll be back for sure!

Excellent place. Glen gave great instruction, and we had a great time with axe/archery/xbow. Free parking on site but suggest you visit the loo before arrival else use the trees! Great fun, untrusted, safe and well worth the money. Highly recommended.

Had a fantastic afternoon doing archery and crossbow. Great instruction from Glen and Sara, with a good dose of humour added. Booked it as a family activity and we all - 4 adults and two teens - thoroughly enjoyed it. Much, much better than another archery place in the New Forest. Thanks Glen and Sara. We'll be back for the axe throwing.

My friend and I did the trio, archery, crossbow and axe throwing. Glen was quirky but informative and fun!! Definitely enjoyed the session, you got a lot of time on each station and got given a full safety briefing meaning you could have some fun and 'self manage' after you'd completed the initial training. Definitely will be rebooking with these guys, absolutely amazing and worth every penny!

This was a truely great experience. Our instructor, Glenn, was awesome, especially as my kid is neurodiverse and was finding the whole experience overwhelming. His flexibility turned what could have been an awful day into a magical one. Too often, particularly with dangerous sports, instructors demand complete obedience and anything else results in exclusion. This was the exact opposite and I'm really thankful.

We did the triple medieval experience. This was a fantastic experience, and I would highly recommend it. Our instructor was knowledgeable, patient and fun. In this short period, he really advanced our archery. However, he was also highly knowledgeable on axe throwing and crossbows. Thank you for such a great activity.

We booked the Medieval Trio as part of a stag do and had an absolutely fantastic time! The place was great with an excellent range of activities. The team kept things interesting with different challenges and all of the guys in our group spent much of the rest of the day talking about the activities and what a good time they had there. Would certainly recommend for a great group activity!

We had a great day under the guidance of Glenn, who provided excellent coaching on how to loose arrows and throw axes. He made the session engaging, educational and good fun. We look forward to returning soon for a spot of bushcraft.

Fantastic day out with our instructor Glen he was knowledgable, chatty and always upbeat. We got to do Archery, Axe throwing and then the crossbows, afterwards you can roam to whichever you wish. It’s easy to find and well worth the money for a good day out, I highly recommend you give it a go.

Really enjoyed our time here. Took my mum here for some fun birthday activites & this hit the jackpot. Glen our teacher / Viking was incredible at explaining and showing us the ropes. Great experience and brilliant instructors, very friendly and informative! Great to learn proper skills. We did the bushcraft in the morning and the medieval trio in the afternoon which worked very well. Would 100% recommend anyone visiting the new forest to do!

We when tominsight activities and it was brilliant fun doing the archery and axe throwing. The gentleman took us through all of the safety aspect and let us enjoy the archery and take photos. A must if you are looking for a fun activity as long as it is not raining

Water activities are fun, and a great way to knacker the kids out. But! It’s not cheap and they do take the Micky a bit with charging for parking ….. And then when we had finished our activity, and were having sandwiches in the picnic area we were told that they don’t allow customers to eat their own food….. really exploiting a captive family … Better off going to the beach for free.

Sadly this review is not so much against the park but the car park company COUNTRY WIDE CAR PARKS. Their ticket machine was broken the day i was there. I told the staff. I recall them either saying not worry or we will charge you here on the computer. Didnt think any more of it as we were more excited about activities at the park. Couple if weeks latet I get a very expensive parking fine. I appealed this explaining the situation, this was not accepted. Neither the park or car park company knew how to confirm that the ticket machine was broken. So now I am stuck with a large parking fine I refuse to pay and this whole ordeal has ruined the Aqua park experience.

Such a Shame - The New Forest Water Park Has Lost Its Charm I used to be a regular visitor to the New Forest Water Park, enjoying the relaxed and chilled vibe it once had. However, my recent visit left me disappointed. The changes that have taken place have transformed this once-lovely water park into something unrecognizable. Excessive signage and fencing is everywhere, discouraging any sense of freedom. They now seem to prioritize churning through as many people as possible on the aqua park. What saddened me the most was the evident money-making focus of the place. Everything seemed to come with an additional charge, leaving visitors feeling ripped off. The club house feels unwelcoming as we were denied access to the games, told they were for staff only. One of the most frustrating things is the parking fee. It's absurd to charge visitors for parking, especially when they have already paid for an activity within the park. It only added to the sense of being taken advantage of and diminished the overall experience. I had been going to Water Park since its beginnings with just one cable. Seeing the expansion was exciting, but it has grown into something unrecognizable, losing its soul along the way. Regrettably, this will be the last time I visit the park in its current state. I hope that the management reevaluates their priorities and considers restoring the original spirit of the water park. I hope that someday it rediscovers its charm and friendliness.

Good fun but as a group we had two cars, arrived late so rushed to get ready not realising that you had to pay for parking. The two £50 fines ruined the experience somewhat as it became a very expensive day out. I have been to several waterparks and not had to pay for parking before. Seems like a money making scheme, I will definitely not be returning, and found Dorset water park a far better experience.

I didn’t had the booking or anything I just accidentally joined my friend who went swimming. I was very lucky I managed to get lesson on 5 of August Friday evening on system 2.0 with very good coach, (sorry I forgot her name). It was first time ever and I believe it went very well. Definitely coming back for more lessons, I know it’s expensive, but definitely worth it!!! Also all bar/reception and equipment staff very nice and helpful. Really enjoyed experience!

Have to say the water park itself is good, but they need to look at who runs their carpark, we paid for parking before travel, but last minute my sister was able to come after feeling ill so we switched from a 4 seat mini to a 5 seat audi, not knowing anywhere we would have to change this, we received a letter a few days later with a £50 parking fine, we appealed and showed them that we had purchased a ticket with proof but they said we still have to pay the fine, a absolute joke its not as if we didn't pay and went. After many trips we will never go again!

Took my daughter here for her 7th birthday. Her choice. Unfortunately she didn't last more than 5 minutes as her wet suit was too big for her and water kept getting inside which she didn't like. However she is very dinky for her age and this I feel could not be helped except maybe investing in some smaller suits. Me and my eldest were left to play for the hour whilst my husband took little one out.....and had a great time, lots of fun. Could not recommend enough. Good all round facilities and cafe. Will definitely be going again.

So much fun, I've been twice, once on each inflatable Park, they are both amazing, ypu get q great amount of time for a good price, i recommend going summer / later summer especially. Great fun, especially in a group of freinds!

Beware of the parking scam! When you arrive at the car park the many signs are clear - parking is enforced 24 hours a day, and there is a £100 fine for non payment. There are plenty of signs which make this clear, so I paid for parking while at my car with the Just Park app, seeing as it works on ANPR and I didn't want to get a ticket. It is only once you have left the car park and walked to reception that you then see the first see signs reminding you to park in big letters, but also these signs state that the parking charges apply at weekends only in small print below (with the exception of July and August). By the time you reach this point, most people will have already paid. There is NOTHING in the car park, or on it's approach that tells you what the charges might be on the day of your visit. A simple sign at the entrance to the car park clearly advising visitors when the charges do and don't apply would go a long way - if the park can install the 26 signs that are mentioned in the response to other reviews, then I am sure they could manage ONE at the entrance, unless they don't want to of course, which is the perhaps the idea. This is incredibly misleading, and I wonder how many people pay unsuspectingly, or can't be bothered to go through the (very) convoluted process of attempting to get a refund through Just Park. Reception couldn't help, as the payment was made through the app, which is of course nothing to do with them, even though it is a private site which they manage. If parking charges don't apply, then this should be clear in the app when you attempt to park, rather than even the app saying that you need to pay as well, the site owner should be able to manage this. No doubt this is a clear strategy to generate extra profit. Shame on you New Forest Water Park. My daughter had a great time, mine was tainted by the feeling I was being ripped off. I'd have been happier paying £21 for the booking with free parking, rather than the stress and hassle of trying to pay for parking which wasn't actually needed, which just feels like a totally unnecessary additional charge. Other parks don't charge parking on top of the entry fee.

Whether with family or with your partner, go alone. a place you will enjoy. meals cheap parking 1 hour £1 excellent for kids

Great hot chocolate, few wasps around the bins which made it uncomfortable to sit and eat but the park was very fun. Even though there was a massive group of teenagers who were messing around, they were sorted out quickly and everyone could all have fun.

Had a fantastic afternoon at The New Forest waterpark. Took me and my son on the inflatable obstacle course. I believe it was £40 for the two of us plus wetsuits which I think would £5 each I thought it was very reasonable. Lots of parking and lots of tables for for anybody who would like to view. Inflatable side we chose was Neptune. Me and my son had a fantastic time way above my expectations. The changing rooms and shower area are a little bit basic but you don’t need anything else. Would highly recommend the venue

Favourite place to be, everyone is always super friendly and accommodating. Will always help whenever they can! They love newbies getting into wakeboaridng and will do their best to get you up and riding. The aqua park is great fun for those who want something a little less vigorous than wakeboarding. Awesome atmosphere, can’t recommend these guys enough. Been going for years 😁

Really good fun on the Neptune water park and we were very lucky with the weather. I thought it was good value but I felt it very odd that you had to pay extra for parking and only in 2 hour slots. Thismeant we didn’t stay to have any food and drink as our time was up

It’s a nice little set-up with two inflatable water parks and a nice little outdoor cafe. The cafe has lots of drinks and good options including deserts - the service is is very friendly despite how busy the get. Dogs welcome. Wasps are often an issue here.

We love the water park and the two obstacle courses, great to see some much needed investment with a proper tarmac car park and food/drinks cabin. Couple of niggles…the staff don’t always seem that interested in helping customers but more interested in having a chat between themselves, we had to wait for 5 mins for a life vest when we were the only people queuing and there were 5 members of staff in and outside the booth. Plus one member of staff at the food/drinks cabin did have quite a bit of attitude, not directed at me but at someone else in the queue who asked for sugar for their drinks…which made her huff and puff and then he asked for stirrers (obviously needed for the sugar he’d just asked for) and it was like they’d asked for something completely unreasonable. Didn’t seem like she wanted to be there and had quite a chip on her shoulder.

We attended on a Friday afternoon in April for a work event and we had the entire park to ourselves which was great. Highly recommend wetsuits, the waster was cold but fine once you are in. Changing rooms are basic they are basically a giant shed. You can get hot and cold food as well as drinks. Staff were all friendly.

Absolutely fantastic from the minute we arrived until the minute we left!! From the amazingly friendly staff, to the wonderful horses who are clearly loved and cared for to a high standard, and of course the outstanding scenery, our experience at Arniss Equestrian was exceptional. Amy and Clare were knowledgeable and just a joy to be around. They kept all the riders, of different abilities safe on the ride, ensuring everyone has a great time. I had the honor of riding the most beautiful New Forest pony in the New Forest itself! My partner who hadn't ridden before has now caught the equestrian bug! We cannot thank Arniss Equestrian enough and will most certainly be returning as soon as possible.

Second visit today, enjoyed this immensely riding Danny. Amazing scenery, lovely history lesson from Amy, and a great 2 hours on horseback. Very professional and well run, and the horses are so well looked after. Can't wait to do it again.

I booked a two hour private hack for my partner and I (he had never been on a horse before) and all I can say is I couldn’t have asked for more! We had a brilliant time, Claire and Amy were amazing with us both, and the landscape was breathtaking. Thank you SO much for such a wonderful afternoon, highly recommend x

Lovely base in the New Forest. Great size for family and friends. Looking just a little bit sad. May just be the time of year. Some of the amenities need freshening up. We had a lovely time though. Plenty to do around and about.

My daughter, partner and myself booked to go on a 1 hour forest ride today (Christmas Eve). It was truly amazing from start to finish. We are all at different abilities and were taken care of so well. Horses were gorgeous and looked well cared for. All staff were lovely and very helpful. Thank you to Clare and Amy our guides who were very friendly and informative. We definitely will return if we ever come back to the area(which we will !) Thank you Arniss Equestrian.

Thank you ever so much to Amy and Claire who took myself, my brother and my mum for our first group hack yesterday! Firstly, Amy and Claire introduced themselves to us immediately upon arrival to the yard and explained the boots and headwear we were required to wear, ensuring this fitted us appropriately. Secondly, we were then introduced to our horses that we would be riding on! Careful consideration was made to those in the group who felt nervous, both Amy and Claire took the time to explain each step of the process and were able to answer any of the questions we had. Both were welcoming, professional, and attentive during the hack which certainly eased some nervousness from riding the first time! We had been taken on a beautiful hack up on the hills, with an amazing view, and a whistle stop history lesson about the New Forest! Finally, we ended our hack with a joyful walk back to the yard, each of the horses ridden were so well behaved and can see they are so well looked after. Amy was also kind enough to take a selection of photos before sending them to us before we left! We was visiting new forest and my husband booked as a surprise to ride at Arniss. I have osteoporosis so tend to only ride my horse as I know him. But what a great place and I felt so safe and chilled at all times. I was on ebony and we had such a lovely ride with a couple of lovely canters. What a lovely place and lovely people really. Will definitely return these guys are very professional and just lovely people. My husband can barely ride and they looked after him too. I had the best birthday treat and the views are something else . Thank you arniss will see you again x

I've never ridden a horse before and my other half booked a session as a surprise for me as it is something I have always wanted to do.😍 It was an absolutely amazing experience and my horse Patrick was beautiful and so gentle it was a privilege to ride him. ❤️Claire my instructor was fabulous and made the experience even better, helping me to feel at ease. Unforgettable Horse Riding Experience for International Students! Our group of international students had an unforgettable time with Arniss Equestrian! The staff's warm hospitality, well-trained horses, and breathtaking views made the day truly magical. From our beginners to experienced riders, everyone felt safe and had a blast. After riding, the kids went to the stables and learned about the horses different diets and more. We highly recommend Arniss Equestrian for an exceptional experience.

Beautiful Edwardian mansion set wonderful countryside. Also there is a fabulous museum.

Absolutely wonderful house and exceptional collection of artworks, tapestries, rugs and furniture. Well presented tour with very knowledgeable tour guide who enthused us throughout the whole tour. We will come back for a smaller more detailed tour. Only small thing to consider: signage to actual house could be better . Otherwise superb Easter afternoon spent in a piece of architectural history .

Such a beautiful place to visit but unfortunately I was verbally abused by the lady who lives there and one of her dogs is extremly vicious with no recall, my two dogs I walked through the bridal path on lead (public right of way) were well behaved considering her dog was trying to attack them (thank god had a muzzle on at least) . I continued to try walk away but the dog proceeded to follow us all the way down the path . Due to my autism I don’t handle confrontation well and she really scared me and upset me hugely as she was threatening me . Such a shame as it’s a beautiful place to walk through. All I’ve done is show respect and kept myself to myself when walking through .

Excellent knowledge guides, beautiful Elizabethan house. Really good country museum.

Unexpectedly a good day out. Really interesting history linked with the house from around the 1600's. Our guide was very knowledgeable and helped understand some of the history of the house, which has some rooms as they were in the 1700's. This is still a family home, so access is limited, but the rooms that can be accessed you can get up very close to the items in the room. A very comprehensive museum in the grounds makes Breamore house a must for those interested in the past.

Beautiful Elizabethan mansion with a huge art collection, interesting furniture and tapestries, led round by a knowledgeable and friendly guide. Pretty Saxon Church, amazing game design times countryside museum and picturesque little cafe. Great day out.

We had an excellent guide round the house. Very knowledgeable who made the history come to life. Very interesting and worth doing. The cafe also served up excellent food!

I had an excellent tour of Breamore House today. Mark, the tour guide, was very professional and engaging. His knowledge of the family history gave me some insight of the family and why it is such an attractive home for those interested in the history of the house. Mark is obviously well informed in providing such an interesting overview of this lovely family home. Recommended

Lovely cafe and farm shop. Stopped by here on Saturday afternoon, an unplanned stop on a Bikepacking trip around the New Forest. What a find! A lovely farm shop, with lots of cheese options, and if only i had space to carry some local booze for camping. Next time… The cafe is lovely too, coffee and cake options galore.

A lovely place for a hot sunny Friday afternoon catch up with my mum for a coffee and cake. Coffee was tasty and lovely that it was brought to us rather than having to wait whilst it was being made. The coffee cake was delicious as it was cut to order, however the carrot cake was a little dry as it was precut. A great halfway meeting point between Bournemouth ans Salisbury. Dog friendly too! The chickens are beautiful!!

Fab cafe. Visited Sunday and it was beautiful weather so able to sit outside on the patio. Good sized indoor and outdoor seating areas. Friendly staff who gave great service but looked run off their feet. Food was fabulous, locally sourced produce, we had the farmyard breakfast which was great value for money. Nice clean toilets on site

We visited today (16/10) for lunch, we both had a delicious panini each and my other half had a coffee. The area as a whole is very lovely, with animals on view to look at, a bric-a-brac shop, cafe and farmshop. Plenty of parking available. We ended up buying some cookies from the farm shop too.

So good to have a decent farm shop with local meat and vegetables. It's not the cheapest of course, but you get what you pay for. It's a great destination for kids and adults alike. Great coffee and nice places around the shop to enjoy. They also have animals you can go and look at and show the kids in a real farm setting.. You don't get fewer carbon miles than that!

What has happened ? Been a frequent visitor and meeting place for years. On Saturday I was meeting a friend for breakfast. I arrived 1/2 and hour early so ordered a latte. After twenty minutes it still had not arrived, eventually it arrived and it was just a glass of coffee with some milk @£3.65 I asked could it be taken back and a latte brought. 38 minutes in total to get a coffee. Friend arrived, who reported, this is now the norm here. So we opted against eating. Hockey's the locals are your bread and butter when the season has finished. Improve your service and waiting times. Your competitors are doing so much better.

Food was overpriced for the size of portion (6 slices of mushrooms is a joke) but good enough quality to get a higher star rating. Staff were unwelcoming but friendly enough. They shouldn’t offer a reservation system at all. it’s a ridiculous idea for such a small space. the price different between the large breakfast and the regular should be much more significant considering they don’t allow swaps for items and you get such a small slice of batch-cooked fried eggs. the whole plate could’ve made a profit at £8, but they charge £15 (with a hot drink) a little bit of flexibility from the staff would go such a long way

Rustic style cafe on a farm, which you are able to wander around and look at the donkeys, alpacas, pigs and chickens. The savoury options on the menu are limited and quite expensive but tasty and there is a wide range of delicious looking cakes. I had a slice of Victoria sponge which was delicious. There's also a farm shop with a butchers and many tempting treats. I can recommend the bacon, much nicer than supermarket high-end ones.

Very yummy breakfast :) very populour has an outsitting space veggie breakfast to loads of yummy cakes and has an avairy with birds and good coffee and a nice place for children as it has a farm with animals and a shop

I have been going to Hockeys for quite a few years and it is my almost weekly go to for a catch up with friends. The food is nice and the staff and atmosphere are nice but I'm afraid it was my last visit last week due to the prices.

Absolutely amazing day out, went with the wife and kids, spent all day there. Recommended wearing suit. BEST WORKOUT IN FORDINGBRIDGE

Wool dyed from woad growing in the Roman herb garden. Thank you Sheila. The cream coloured skeins would have been yellow had I had more of the yellow flowers. The blue skein is from the leaves.

This Roman site is slightley different from others, its main purpose as villa complex is clearly marked out by the lines on the floor were the walls of the buildings wouldve been. The day was cloudy but fine and loved the fact that they had reimagined a roman herb garden aswell. A medium site with helpful staff on hand to answer questions.

Really enjoyed my visit to this peaceful site, where your imagination can run riot browsing over the ancient remains and outlines of Roman life in Britain. Interesting artefacts in the museum, plenty of car parking space.

A small roman villa not that far from Salisbury. The staff was welcoming and ready to help, and there is an interesting exhibition before you visit the ruins. At 33 degrees we weren’t able to stay outside for too long, but I had time enough to see for the first time a roman hypocaust made of tiles!

We visited today and weren't sure what to expect, but had a fabulous time I should say that if you are looking for large impressive ruins then this isn't the place. The location is well kept and has some mosaics, bath house under-floor heating and other ground level ruins. Much of the site is laid out with gravel to show the positions of walls that were previously excavated before being recovered to protect them. There are plenty of information boards but the visit was really made great by the fabulous staff/volunteers who did a guided talk and were really happy to help, talk about the site etc. There were also artifacts in the small museum and activities for the kids. Well worth the £12 for a family of 4. The kids were genuinely interested in it (and in fact asked to go in the 1st place). It was also a lovely spot for a picnic. Recommended.

We drove quite a way to come and see the "villa" but found the remains pretty underwhelming. None of us expected Nero's "Domus Aurea" however, we had envisaged more than a couple of partial mosaics, some traced walls and a fragment of ruined hypocaust. The staff were friendly, small museum interesting (no coin hoard on display?) the lavatories clean but sodas warm and very pricey (£1.95 for a can of Coke). I couldn't recommend a visit unless you are a real enthusiast for fragmentary Roman remains and are in the area.

A fantastic place to visit for anyone interested in Roman and Romano-British history. The staff were wonderfully welcoming and helpful, and the whole site is well kept. Very much worth the price of admission (£4.50 for an adult at the time writing) the small museum and archeological sites are very interesting. Definitely treat yourself to a new forest ice cream while you're there!

From the entrance it did not look great, but inside there was a great museum/displays. The excavations were very interesting and had a great visit and a very knowledgeable "Gatekeeper".

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit today to the Roman Villa site. Good visual display and explanation of life in Roman times. The museum caters for children . We will bring our grandchildren here next year. It's well worth a visit.

Came here for my mums birthday with all the family. Really nice food, atmosphere and even though it was busy service was still pretty good. I would recommend booking as it’s always pretty busy here. The only thing I was surprised by is there’s no kids menu, however they do make everything in smaller sizes for kids.

We came here in a group of 6 on our holiday after walking here from sandy balls because having read the reviews it looked brilliant and wow it certainly was. The staff was very friendly, the service was excellent and the food was excellent. Having had family live in South Africa I had the South African beef curry which was brilliant. My fiancé and friend's food was also quality. Would highly recommend to anyone.

We loved coming here, the food was so nice! Only thing we would say is that’s we told we would get served by table outside but none came so we ordered inside, it wasn’t an issue but I wanted to let you know if none comes order at the bar

Simply love this pub. Under new management but still local and fabulous. Really friendly, incredible food, great all year round.

The horse and groom had a warm, welcoming feel. There are lots of choices on the menu as well as daily specials board. I had hunters chicken with mushroom sauce and skinny fries. The piece of chicken was a decent size and perfectly cooked. The mushroom sauce was super tasty and had chopped mushrooms through it. The fries were ridiculously good. My husband had a cheese burger with thick cut chips, and he said it was very tasty. The staff were friendly and helpful. The facilities were clean and tidy. We will definitely return. All in all, it's a great place to enjoy some lovely, freshly cooked food. Our dogs were welcome to join us too.

6 months on and I can't fault this pub at all. One of my favourite in the New Forrest area. Staff and owners are warm and welcoming. The food is excellent, atmosphere really good but booking is suggested during popular times. I have added new photos of our meals. Previous review below. A great proper local village pub. It's under new ownership and management as of this week but the owners were keen to meet and greet their customers and give them a very warm welcome. There is a great garden with lots of seating and some under canopy areas if the weather starts to turn. Parking is a bit limited when busy but you can also park outside the pub. Plenty of choice on the menu and some interesting South African dishes which I had to sample. All of food was excellent and well presented. They were even willing to make some mods for us. After both a main and a dessert I was stuffed and puffed. The service staff were also equally pleasant, efficient and welcoming. Nice to see tables cleared very quickly. No messing around. I can't fault our food or service. Prices I would say are reasonable and typical of good pub grub. There was a good wine selection, again at reasonable prices and bottled were served chilled in a wine bucket. I will definitely be going back to sample more of this menu and I look forward to some of the new menu items. P.s. Don't tell too many people about the pub.

Fabulous pub. Friendly owner excellent selection of beers and food. I had the Vegan Vegetable pie. It had protein in it! Bravo! Excellent balance flavours and textures. A must visit if you're veggie and in the area. I'll definitely be going back in the future.

Great dining experience, staff were very friendly. We arrived without a prior booking, and the pub was busy. However, they had a marquee on some decking with heaters outside that was lovely. The food was well cooked and presented. The bobotie spring rolls were good and different from the usual pub grub. There is a massive outdoor area for nicer weather although parking could become tricky as their carpark is a bit small.

We are staying in the New Forest not far from the Horse & Groom . Recommended by our hosts , definitely didn’t disappoint. Must be hard balancing between locals and Holiday makers , they do it perfectly. Food is top notch pub grub , staff are always friendly and work extremely hard . This place has restored a little faith in good quality pubs. So many nowadays charge silly money for poor service . The horse & groom are re reasonably priced and with that you get great food & great service . If the Steak & Ale pie is on , you must try it - it’s soo good!!

We come here on our Friends recommendation as they frequently visit here having a holiday home locally. My mate has been raving on about the Sunday roast for months and months. I will say it did not let us down nor disappoint on any level, probably one of the best Sunday lunches we’ve had out if not the best. We were a party of sixteen 8 kids and 8 adults. Sevice was great and attentive, didn’t lets us down at all. Food was amazing, quality of produce was great, portion size was ridiculously big but we managed to eat it. When we are back here there’s no way we will not be back.

A little gem in the north of the New Forest. We've been to this area many times over the years yet have never discovered this wonderful pub. It was a normal Thursday lunchtime in April so not peak times but the pub was busy and vibrant for lunch. On an unusually nice afternoon in early spring we sat in the garden. I had the steak sandwich and my wife had the scampi which was first class. The steak sandwich was more than ample and I even had to take some back to our holiday lodge for later. Very good prices and the staff were exceptional. Loved it.Highly recommend.

Been on hols in Wood Green The Horse & Groom was our local pub.Came here for my Birthday meal staff and the locals were very welcoming and friendly.Hubby and I had a amazing meal here and they are very dog friendly brought our 13 year old Golden Doodle to.

Popped in on the way back home to grab a Sunday lunch. The place has a good atmosphere and great selection of food and drink. I ordered the beef Sunday roast and it did not disappoint. Decent sized well presented serving with all the trimmings and most importantly tasty! Service behind the bar was with a smile, but the lady serving the food clearly didn't want to be there. When the food was served a "thank you' was delivered and in return nothing was said...it was delivered a bit like a school dinner, dropped off with no care in the world. That said I won't let one bad egg ruin what I thought was a good traditional pub that is well worth a visit. Will I be back? Of course I will.

This is a fantastic Art Deco style cinema located in the heart of Fordingbridge. The cinema shows everything from Hollywood blockbusters, children’s films, family and independent movies. There really is something for everyone here. The staff, many of whom are volunteers are lovely and welcoming - they make attending every movie such a pleasure. There is a stylish bar where they also sell snacks and sweets which you can take into the auditorium to enjoy whilst watching the movie. Over the last five years I have watched countless movies here and have got such pleasure from my visits. We are so lucky having such a wonderful, well staffed and managed facility in Fordingbridge. I can’t think of any way that it could be improved upon. It’s that good!

A wonderful 1st experience, I'm so pleased that I have membership. The seating is comfortable with plenty of leg room. The screen and sound system is excellent, it wouldn't matter where you sat the view would be good. The air conditioning and removal of stale air is brilliant. It has a great atmosphere and friendly staff.

The Regal cinema is one of those rare gems that you're grateful to have found. Barry and the team of volunteers that run it have created a space that is beautiful yet cosy and makes you feel as though you've stepped back in time to the roaring twenties. We randomly decided to drive up to Fordingbridge in the afternoon and on the way there already decided to go and visit the George - we're so glad we did! Lovely pub, great location, friendly staff - we sat in the beer garden, right by the river and soaked up the relaxing atmosphere - a really enjoyable experience - next time we come, we'll have something to eat - the menu looks really good and other diners were very complimentary about their food.

Just back from an amazing Sunday lunch. Roast lamb was so tender and flavoursome. Everything was perfectly cooked. Literally nothing left on mine and my friends plates. Staff were attentive and friendly.

Excellent place for lunch. Ordered 4 meals in total, 2 for adults and 2 for kids. All meals were delicious. The kids were given plastic cutlery which is rare and a nice touch. Service was attentive and spot on. Nice view of the river too. No parking on site but that wasn't an issue. There is a pay and display a few minutes walk.

Lovely meal here while on holiday last week. Sat outside on the waterfront, watching kingfishers darting by. Constant traffic from the bridge isn't intrusive, noise wise, which is nice. Food was lovely, fresh and came quickly. Would recommend this place for a good family meal or a romantic meal for sure.

Found the George whilst on holiday and lucky enough to get a table in the conservatory looking out over the river. Service here is great, nice to see a place that has lots of staff who are all happy, friendly, and very attentive to their customers. Food was nicely cooked and hot. Highly recommend the crispy fried chicken burger, very tasty. Really nice relaxing place with great views. I can't wait to come back again.

Went for a meal for my birthday. Had a superb fillet steak. It was seasoned and cooked too perfection so compliments to the chef. My wife found the place looking through TripAdvisor. The reviews were very good and they were right. Wonderful location on the river Avon. Wonderful food and great service. Thank you all. Will definitely go back and I highly recommend it.

Very good service. Food is a bit more pricey but the location is premium. Sat on the patio right next to the river and enjoyed a few small bites and a drink. We enjoyed our visit whilst travelling through.
