Arrive early and sign up for tour at the visitor center. Entry to memorial is free but tour was about 11 euros per person. The limited group size English led tour is at 11 am and takes about 2 hours. There is a lot of information in the museum and take the extra time (since you arrived early) to go through the material on your own (tour will not spend time with exhibits). Dress appropriately for walking and the weather. There is a small cafeteria in the visitor center.

Worth going and worth checking it out for lots of reasons. It has a canteen for lunch, a book shop, a Carpark. You can follow guided tour by the centre, just head to the reception to join the tour (think is 3 euro per person) when you get there, this can’t be booked online. Careful reconstruction has been done on a few buildings, some original buildings remain, and much of the open ground is there from where original buildings once stood. We spent nearly 4.5 hours there and could have easily spent longer as learned lots. Audio guides in different languages are available.

We went with a guided tour with Radius Tours. From Munich, we traveled by train and bus to get to the memorial site. We were with 'German Mark' ...not to be confused with the other Mark 😉 and he provided a lot of insight to the history and development of this memorial site. We came to Munich for Oktoberfest and spent the following morning here. It was sobering, though provoking, impactful, and necessary. You could easily spend the majority of the day here. They do provide self guided audio tours. Someone that we met at our hotel did the audio tour and enjoyed the content. You get a lot of content in the various areas and it's great to see that they are utilizing the space to remember what happened there. It was a very powerful experience.

We used the virtual tour on our phones and felt like we for a great overview between that and the extensive museum. Audioguidesare available, but we did not use. Be prepared to walk a bit but it is flat. First thing when you arrive, check on the time of the documentary movie in your language as it fills fast and we never got in. Plan on spending at least 2-3 hours. Facilities like WC and Cafe were clean and good quality. The muffin I had and strudel we ate was fabulous.

Right when we were leaving several buses were arriving packed with people. My suggestion is if you’re looking to have a solemn visit go early! The parking lot is €3 bring cash. If you go in the information center they have headphones to translate. I also saw groups with a host but I’m not sure if you are able to sign up before hand or at the information center.

I would have like to see more of how they lived in the camp and daily life (there were lots of written information) but it would be more informative to see it reconstructed. We learnt more about the rise of fascism and it is a good reminder of the insidious nature of these regimes. Definitely worth visiting.

The horrors which I was sheltered from came over like an avalanche . This is definitely something that everyone ought to see with their own eyes. The tours were really good and recommended . My tour guide was very informative and knowledgeable (highly recommended) .Even though the level of horrors you see in this tour were frankly out of this world I left it being a better person, someone who's more aware of what can become of mere rumors and what they can snowball into.

The S2 train stops in Dachau, bus 726 will deliver you right to the entrance. Expect to spend a couple hrs there at least. Lots of tours going on, but easily navigatable on your own.
