We visited Taiwan for the first time. We loved the country and the people. This museum was one of the highlights of our trip. We had the chance to see 2500 years old exhibits and to better understand the history of this side of the world. We continued our visit to the museum with a long walk in the park and gardens close by the museum. We visited in October, the weather was very nice and the numbers of tourists wasn’t high at all. This was another enjoyable part of our trip.
Must-visiting museum if you're interested in history and ancient culture. This is one of the biggest museum in Asia where still remain and exhibit many treasures "White cabbage", "Pork meat", etc. The theme will be changed every season. It's free admission for student, you need to bring your student card. It also provide the audio guide/demo in many languages. You can borrow at the ticket booth. The staffs are friendly and professional. From the entrance to the bus stop takes approximately 5 min walking.
Very nice museum with many beautiful peaces of art. If you are passionate about I would suggest to book an audio guide or a guide.
The AC temperature could be rise up a bit. IT was very cold inside especially when outside is 40 degrees. . I suggest you to bring a jumper.

The national museum collects various historical treasures of China in here.
The ticket can be purchased in the front with fee 350twd. You can just spend half a day in here easily since there are many floors and exhibition areas to explore.
Recommended to arrive early at 9am, after 10-10.30 there will be a lot of tourists coming in.
Good museum with exhibits focused mostly on calligraphy and Jade. The Jade cabbage is the main attraction, but there are many other interesting pieces if you look hard enough. Limited placards in English, so you may be using Google translate quite a bit, however they do have an audio guide available in English for a small fee. Overall it was a decent experience, but I recommend seeing only the highlights if you have limited time in Taipei.
This place was soooooo nice. Clean. Comfortable and kind of silent that I’m looking for after stranded in Taipei City. The ticket was free for students and we can learn a lot of stuff inside. They also have audio guide that we can borrow in the counter.
It is one of the largest museums in Asia and it has many artifacts related to various dynasties of China. It has many sections to see. Souvenir shops are one the best attraction of the museum. It has a prayers room for Muslims. My advice is to visit there with an audio guide or guide. Well connected to public transportation. Recommended visiting.
Amazing experience to see the treasurers of China!! Very open area, exquisite building, and an incredible collection of Chinese history. Realizing that I was mere few feet away from items that were several millennia old was mind boggling!

Beautiful museum with amazing artifacts brought from China. The government at the time wanted to protect these artifacts from the Japanese invasion and from the cultural revolution which was destroying many of the Chinese past cultures.
I loved the paintings.
Check out the ivory ball made; it has several concentric spheres all made out of one single piece of ivory.
Do not forget to visit the cavage and pork meat sculptures; they are really beautiful and well made.
This is a must visit attraction if you are coming to Taipei. With 3 storeys of exhibits, do plan with minimum of 2 hours before coming over. Additional duration if you are bringing any elders.
There's couple of souvenir shops n a nice cafe which we had our lunch break b4 we continue the tour.
Do bring a windbreaker or jacket as the AC are pretty chilling.
This museum is definitely in the top three that I have ever been to. I arrived just after opening on a weekday. No line. Purchased my ticket, rented an audio headset, and walked in. Workers were very friendly and helpful. It was suggested that I begin on the top floor and work my way down. The museum is very spacious, clean, well organized, with exhibits divided by time periods and categories with sone interactive displays. I would definitely recommend this museum as it was one of my highlights visiting Taipei.
An amazingly beautiful, great museum to visit in Taiwan, definitely a must! The building itself is a work of art, from the gate to the inside, everything is beautiful and so picturesque, so many awesome picture spot with a lot of knowledge to attain inside. The museum has both chinese and english information for each exhibition so it's very easy to understand especially for tourist.
Transportation also easy, go to Shilin MRT station, exit 1, from there only 1~2 mins walk to the bus station. A lot of bus options. The bus stop is right in front of the museum. From the museum, it's also incredibly easy to go to the bus stop (there's even a bus stop inside the museum area) which you can use to directly go to Shilin Night Market.
For the ticket, it was a bit expensive ($350) but i do believe it is worth the price with so many exhibitions inside, if you have Taiwanese ARC, you can get a discount to $150, and if you are a Taiwanese student, the ticket is free!

The museum is very neat and well managed. the museum is good for art connoisseurs or for those who want to know the treasures of china in the past. From this museum, visitors will know more about relics and history. on the bottom floor, there is an area for children. This area uses interesting technology to introduce historical objects. the ticket price is 350nt for adult. There is moslem prayer room near the children area.
Was expecting a lot more of the visit. Majority of the exhibits were from the China emperor's collection. Artifacts were largely dated back < 1k years hence not greatly ancient. For an enormous place like this and with the entrance fee charged, was expecting more.
The exhibits are spreaded over a few rooms in 3 floor area. No food is allowed and the wardens may check one's bag. Water bottles are allowed and there are multiple water coolers available for visitors to fill up. Toilets are also very conviniently reachable on every floor.
The National Palace Museum in Taiwan is a must-visit for all tourists in Taipei. The museum presents an amazing and comprehensive display of Chinese history and culture. However, visitors should be prepared for the extremely cold temperature inside the museum - bringing a small jumper or jacket is recommended.
The staff at the National Palace Museum are super nice and helpful, and everything is presented in English, making it easy for non-Chinese speakers to understand and appreciate the exhibits. While audio tours are available, it's better to read the descriptions as the audio spots are limited even in the English language.
The museum is also an excellent destination for families with children. There is an interactive children's book available at the entrance, and the museum has spots and activities all over for kids to learn and play. Many families with children have enjoyed the museum, thanks to its engaging and educational exhibits. Overall, the National Palace Museum is a great place to learn about Chinese history and culture, and it's an experience that shouldn't be missed.
This is a must visit place when in Taipei. Getting to the museum is relatively easy by public transport. This is most easily done with the red line of the metro and then transfer by bus. the number 255 is recommended, but there are at least 6 other buses that will stop you in front of the museum. You can buy a promo card from the klook app, this way you will optimize your expenses and also make it easier to travel by public transport. The museum itself is excellently organized, huge halls, well arranged and with very detailed information. You can additionally get a translation with headphones as you walk through the various halls, as well as hire a guide to pay even more attention to the history of the museum. I recommend allowing between 120 and 180 minutes for the visit and separate time for transportation.
Great Chinese history back to a few thousand years, so amazing words can hardly describe, you have to see it to believe it, calligraphy, handicraft and more..... All are well presented. One of the best history collections in the world, I strongly recommended and it's a must visit attraction.
There was a large collection of imperial artefacts from the Qing dynasty and the legendary siobak (braised pork belly) and cabbage Jades. The place was really large and had some interactive exhibits. Toilets were clean. There was also a beautiful garden next door which had nice views of the mountain and a koi pond.
Third time to Taiwan. This is a must! Lots of history preserved here and very well exhibited! Pottery, manuscripts, maps. So much to see. Take the better part of a day to explore then spend some time in the gardens!
Amazing museum of Asian art and culture. So many beautiful pieces from China that date back many centuries. With works in stone, bronze, ceramic, and many beautiful works of art and calligraphy, there is a lot to see. The Jade cabbage might be the famous piece here but there is so much more to see. The self guided tour headset is worth getting and is useful no matter what order you visit the exhibits.
Great museum with lots of artifacts and history of Taiwan. A great place to visit and learn. The overall area is beautiful and they have a nice garden and pond area to walk at. Went on a Saturday so it was a bit busy just be prepared of you plan on a weekend visit.
One of the must visit places in Taipei, every time am in Taipei. My 4th visit and I still love the experience. So many artifacts to see. The collections are huge. Definitely must visit when in Taipei.

Famous tourist place and still need to visit if you are in Taipei. Will be mesmerized on how massive the structures, especially when you are in the area compared to see it in pictures and videos. Ensure you stay for the hourly change of guards, timing your movement well if you want to have the best view since it will be packed with people. Easy to commute since it has own MRT station for this hall.
What a great memorial hall park secluded in the middle of an ever busy city. The center piece of the hall is flanked by two traditional Chinese building structures.
Entering into the park, I was met with a wide open space. After an hour or so covering most of the park ground, I thought this is just what the residents of a overcrowded city need during any day in the week to enjoy a short walk in a winding path through a carefully arranged garden dotted with trees and flower beds; or to reserve admission to art exhibition or performing in one of the two traditional Chinese building structures; or to stroll along the not-too-long corridor along the side of the garden.
It's not like the other parks that are always filled with people, pets, bicycles, sounds from children playing and loud noises from motorcycles zooming by. Seemingly the walls around the park were not there to barricade, but to create a peaceful land for people to come enjoy. Although the size and surroundings cannot be compared to those of the Lincoln Memorial or Constitution Gardens in the US, but I found the same feeling of solace, tranquility or whatever you could describe the calm state of your mind pacing myself in this park.
I wish the park authority could replace some of those cold cement slab in the square into some warm green lawn.
The experience of witnessing the changing of the guards at this historic site was truly captivating. The precision and ceremony of the event were impressive. The landmark itself holds rich cultural and historical significance. While it's a definite must-see, I would have rated it 5/5 if there were more informational signs or guided tours to provide deeper insights into its history. Nonetheless, a visit here is highly recommended for anyone exploring Taipei!
Main destination for All traveller at Taipei. Huge historical place n landmark in central of Taipei. Inside of the museum there be a soldier ceremony on each times. Outside park There be large hall n gardens with fish pond. Very clean and tidy for the public place. The Architectures of Chinese building very well maintained. Lot of guide sign inside so you won't get lost. Reachable by all public transportation especially by MRT.
Such a grand and awe inspiring memorial. It has a meditative ambience which can be very calming. By sheer luck, I stumbled on the guard changing ceremony which was really cool. The views from the memorial are also quite pretty. The surrounding area is worth exploring as the other buildings are beautifully designed as well, including the gates.
日本にいるとふんわりとしか知らない台湾の成り立ちを色々と理解できる、貴重な資料をたくさん見られる記念堂でした。とくに蒋介石さんの歴史、足跡をたどれるので台湾に対する理解が深まると思います。

Always a great place to visit when in Taipei. Chill park on the side with benches to kick back and relax and enjoy nature. Come early (9am) to see the doors open to the hall and witness the changing of the guards, and get a close up view of the monument. There are also museums/galleries at the 3rd and 1st floor worth visiting especially during summer when it is scorching hot outside. Highly recommended.
Could spend forever in the exhibits on the bottom floor learning about 中正, such an interesting guy. I've been a few times, seen the guard change many times as well, always very cool. But the ting that always impresses me is the shrouding gardens, so amazingly beautiful, also you can buy koi food and feed the fish, such a nice experience
One of the must-visit destination and tourist spot when you’re in Taipei city! Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall is a unique building designed monumentally with the characteristic of the dome and a beautiful setting. When you’re here, you can watch the honorable guard changing every hour, and then take a look at all the exhibition not only the history of Chiang Kai Shek but also the history of Taiwan, together with many other exhibitions can make you spend hours in here. The outside area around the memorial hall is Zhongzheng park with a harmonious garden design. Walking in the premises, visitors will admire the unique and traditional garden style. In addition, the park is free for public and of course the best place for people from senior to junior to gather, enjoying the spacious and pleasant space. But not only that, located within the memorial site is the National Concert Center and the National Theatre. These are two outstanding projects in the campus. The place is chosen have attracted many art exhibitions, outdoor performances, drama, dance on weekends, as well as international performance every year.
What a beautiful place build to remember someone. This memorial hall is nestled right in the city with good access to public transportation. An interesting fact discovered my daughter. There are a total of 89 steps towards the memorial hall. Need to fact check on this. There is a beautiful lake for kids to feed the fishes. We had fun discovering this place.
The changing of the guard was impressive to see but by the end of it, I was in need of A/C. After a drink downstairs, I was ready for the audio tour. It focused on the freedom fighters. Some of the stories were quite moving. The English audio didn't always match up with the displays which were entirely in Chinese for the first half. It would have been nice to learn about Chiang's life in chronological order.
It was the first place I visited in Taipei, and I was amazed at the intricate details of the buildings.
I went there mid-July, in the afternoon. It was very hot and humid that I decided not to go inside the memorial hall anymore. I had a good view from the distance. I highly recommend that you visit here when it’s not summer so you can stroll around the place without passing out from the heat.
Sans heat and the glaring summer sun, the entire complex was truly beautiful. Very clean too!
Very interesting landmark with alot of history both good and bad depending on who you ask in Taiwan. Memorial is beautiful and a must visit. Make sure you go at the top of the hour to see the changing of the guard. Pretty neat to see
It’s a really impressive landmark and probably one of the most famous ones in Taipei. Went there on a really sunny and warm day so it’s recommendable to bring a sun umbrella to take photos from the outside or to take a stroll around the courtyard. The changing of the guards every full hour is really impressive. Because of the stairs and the crowd I’d go upstairs a little early so you don’t have to hurry up the stairs. At the ground floor (which has ac) some souvenir shops and also some galleries and exhibition.
Majestic place to visit. There are exhibitions at the building on the sides of the parade square. Good to come earlier in the day, less crowded and not too warm.. Change of guard ceremony happens every hour. Take time to enjoy the garden around the vicinity too! There's sakura trees at the back garden of the memorial hall and the signs show that they bloom in January each year
Despite the heavy rain, I was able to get a glimpse of the Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial. I went inside there, and boy, there were so many people all wanting to take pictures of the nationalist leader of Taiwan. Luckily, no tickets are required, because anyone can go there. All in all, it's pretty amazing to say the least, architecturally.

The temple is a very good destination if you are new here in Taiwan or just visiting as a tourist. The people here are very friendly and welcoming, they house many deities who you can pray to, and the temple sells many types of lucky charms with a reasonable price. The facilities are clean and the view of the temple is serene, relaxes the mind and the heart.
If you go here with MRT, it's only 2~3 mins walk from the station, very nearby.
Visited this temple during an interesting ceremony involving tall puppets that are meant to resemble the gods. Its a great place to see cultural heritage of Taiwan when in Taipei, and is also near some night markets. Its also an active worship site so many devotees come here to pray. Definitely one of the most interesting experiences I had in Taipei, would recommend tourists come.
This has got to be one of the most iconic places of worship in Taipei. It’s highly advisable to go on a morning as it gets too crowded the rest of the day. As for public transport, buses and train station are readily available. Take as much pictures as every nook and crevice is interesting enough.
This Buddhist temple is one of the most famous in Taipei. Once you enter the front gate, in the middle is the main temple but there are alleys around it with many other worship places, all beautifully decorated. Around the temple there are speakers with religious music. Regardless of your religious beliefs, you can spend some time here to enjoy the beauty that surrounds you.
This temple was built by worshippers who raised money to build it back in the 18th century. It was refurbished in 1815. It was built in the classical design of a square-shaped four-chamber structure with three entrances. At the entrance, you will see the only molded pillar with dragon patterns is Taiwan. Pay also attention to the spiral caisson, which symbolizes the Wheel of Fortune in Buddhism. Please respect the ones who are worshipping at the place.
The most beautiful temple in Taiwan ❤️. Built in the 18 th century and rebuild many times after damage by earthquakes and typhoons. It's dedicated to bodhisattva of mercy, Guanyin.

Such a wonderful experience visiting this temple. It’s not just the sights, but the smell of incense and the sound of the music too. So much detail everywhere you look - you can really spend a long time here just noticing everything. This is definitely a must for anyone visiting Taipei!
Very serene and beautiful temple. There were a lot of locals performing prayers during my visit. There were also chanting broadcasted which made it serene and calm.
The architecture is beautiful. There is a large waterfall at one side of the entrance while a koi pond on the other side.
Access to the temple is right outside of the Longshan temple mrt station. Hence, very convenient to oay a visit.
Probably one of the most iconic temples in Taiwan. There are a few things you need to be aware of (as far as I know):
1. You cannot just sit anywhere in the temple. If you want to sit, the easiest way is to imitate the locals.
2. You can buy many types of amulet that will (probably) protect you from an unfortunate incident or make your business prosper.
3. Taking photos is fine, but please respect the place. Personally I avoided using the flash and making a weird pose.
4. There is free water with a paper cup inside.
5. There is a pond with carps. Do not feed them though.
A wonderful temple right off the MRT station. I don't even care for the religion, but the architecture is just so beautiful.
I used to fly kites at this temple when I was a kid; this brings back memories.
A very large temple which is well attended. You will see many locals and visitors burning incense, offering food to the gods, and praying reverently. I suggest reading up on the traditions for this kind of temple before you go so you understand the practices going.
It was my favourite place in all the stops we made in our short visit to Taipei. Welcoming environment, most ppl are very respectful as it's not only a place that tourists may stop but a temple for prayer and meditation. 🙏🏼Come to do both and leave, filled with loved.
Be wary, although it's in the middle of the city, there noise is drawn out by high walls.

Longshan Temple in Taipei is perhaps Taiwan's most well known and busiest place of worship, but packed with tourists. Beautifully painted carvings of dragons and such and paintings are everywhere. The smell of incense permeates the air. Make an offering, light a stick of incense, bow your head, and say a prayer, can't hurt. Lucky charms for various hopes are also for sale. There is even a small garden. This is really a must-see place when visiting Taipei for the first time.
Rich history and cultural temple. Many people there for praying, brought some charm and if you believe and pray sincerely come heart, it might gives you what you wish after you put in your best efforts. Must visit when in Taipei. At least get the vibe, easily accessible by subway and if it doesn’t suit, then hop back on the subway and one stop to Ximending for shopping, dinning and drinking, no losses.
Very nice temple with intricate carvings of wood and stone. Many people pray and give offerings of food and flowers. Some old people also stay there and sit to pray. It is crowded because it is popular and near the Ximen area. They have a man-made waterfall and fountain with big koi fish. The temple is maintained nicely and it is clean. Toilet is also there and it clean.
This is a very nice temple. One star subtracted because the area can be sketchy. A lot of homeless. There are different gods that you can pray to. Restrooms are down the stairs but be warned that you may have to grab some toilet paper before going into the stalls.

This is a well preserved temple in the middle of the city. Faithfuls are aplenty here to pray for good test results. Like many other temples here in Taiwan, this is a place with hodgepodge of gods, some traditional Buddhism gods, but also some folklore gods that are on display here. You can try your luck by picking a “fate card” and then take it over to a window where someone would decipher the meaning of your card. The location is excellent as it sits right outside of the metro station and close to a night market and some old streets with shops. Some reviews thought this place was sketchy and with many homeless people. I disagree with that assessment as it’s very safe and very few visible homeless people. Those reviewers must not have been to LA, SF or just about any major city in the US where the homeless and crime problems are 100x worse than Taipei. Although this area was the former (not sure about now) red lights district, but the area is really safe as in the rest of this busy city. Finding a parking space close by may require a miracle from one of the gods here, so take the metro and you will thank yourself.

There are both locals and tourists, including monks praying in the temple. Tourists be aware to pay respect and keep low voice inside the area.
It's my 2nd time to go here and I decided to visit this place last lunar new year. There were a lot of people in the temple. And most of them are buying some charms in the temple. I remember you can buy a charm depending on what your intend usage of it.

Bangka Lungshan Temple is a buddhist temple that can be easy to get to, by taking the metro the the station itself.
The temple is beautifully designed, and huge enough to accomodate thousands of visitors.

There is stalls that sells snacks, as well as gift shop that sells charms and amulet souvenirs.

It has been some quite a while since the Corona hit the world and returning back here where it used to be crowded but now isn't. However, look at the bright side, we could stroll around and taste all the food without the hassle of long que and crowd people. I do love this Night Market particularly for it provide all the authentic taste, culture, and experience. Truly a Taiwanese culture packed in 1 Night Market. There is always many new things to be found here. Probably, it's the best time for you to experience it before things get back to normal. See you around!
The night market is situated near Jiantian MRT station. The night market spread over the large area and it has cosmetic, food stalls, clothes, sports, watches, piercings sections. The night markets offers deliciously cuisine at affordable price. The night market is usually crowded at weekends. The night market has one beautiful temple. You need to take care while walking because the roads are home to scooters too. I didn't find Any restroom at the night market.

It's better to enter at Jianan Station to reduce the amount of walking. We ended up entering the rear night market, and it was quite crowded. Nevertheless, we relished all the food options. This night market is the best! There are so many good food options. I came here on a Monday night and the crowd felt just right. It was lively but not overly crowded.
I got crab legs, king oyster mushrooms, black pepper pork bun, stinky tofu, and beef cubes. Everything was really good. There are long lines for the king oyster mushrooms and the black pepper pork buns but they are worth it. Especially the mushrooms!
You can eat on the temple steps. It's pretty relaxing to either eat there or in another food line. Also fun fishing games too!

Went there just for their stinky tofu! The stall is not hard to find as you can smell something funny from far, which I think is the best indicator! It is nearby the red lantern temple. It is crowded but definetly a nice nightmarket vibe! Also with the beautiful temple... I had a lemon juice, fried stinky tofu (try it at least once!), corn dog (so yummy) and grilled squid. Shilin Night Market is one of the most popular night markets in Taipei, and for good reason. The food here is some of the best you'll find in the city, and it's definitely worth a visit. However, coming here after COVID, I did notice a significant decrease in the number of stalls available, which is the only reason I didn't give it a perfect score.
Despite the decrease in the number of stalls, the food at Shilin Night Market is still amazing. There are plenty of must-try dishes here, but the standout for me was the fried chicken. It's crispy, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. Additionally, there are plenty of fair-style games to play, which can be a lot of fun.
One thing to note is that the market can get incredibly crowded on weekends, which can be overwhelming. However, if you visit during the week, it's much more manageable, and you can enjoy the food and games without feeling too rushed or stressed.
Overall, Shilin Night Market is definitely worth a visit if you're in Taipei. While there may be fewer stalls than there were before COVID, the food is still some of the best around, and there are plenty of fun activities to enjoy. Just make sure to visit during the week if you can to avoid the crowds.

Iconic night market of Taiwan and hence it’s very crowded with tourists. In some streets it’s crowded till borderline stampede. There are long queues for both the fried chicken stalls. However, the fried chicken is not very special, the batter is not crispy and too sweet. Chicken was tender though. Will recommend their cold noodles and $16 Shanghai Bao, it’s cheap but the quality is surprisingly there. Many fried milk stalls around for you to try too. Worth a try but not what I expected. Can do a fortune reading too, at the outer edge of the market. One try for $10.
The world famous shilin night market was closed during my visit there for renovations so I had to visit the stalls that are in the area. The stalls do not disappoint me.
Smelly tofu with duck blood was insanely good. Oyster omelette was unusually good too, I tried the omelette elsewhere years ago and it wasn’t to my liking. But this stall is good. It is crispy and flavourful.
Do plan your trip ahead and check if the renovations are done. The basement night market houses more food and it is always a pleasure to eat and walk through.
My favorite of the 10 night markets I visited in Taiwan. The market is spacious with lots of room to roam around to different food stalls and explore. They had lots of options for food and I even found plenty to enjoy as a vegetarian (quail eggs, Korean cheese dog, steamed buns, mung bean drink, cheese corn, etc). I highly recommend visiting.
Visited on 21 august from 430 to 630 pm. A lot of stores were closed due to coronavirus and lack of visitors but even at that early time there were a decent amount of food vendors open. Overall not very crowded with people. The underground food market was very sparse but the games area still had plenty of booths open to include shooting and throwing games and fish catching. Highly recommend the super cute Totoro egg biscuits!!!
One of the happening night market in Taipei, beware not to be scam by the market entrance part which seems sketchy. Walk to the back where the real night market unveiled. There you can find many local street food. Personal favourite was the Michelin rated pepper pork bun!

Probably the biggest night market, a giant network of intersecting streets, filled with food, games and merchandise.
Walking or more like wandering though this area, I feel like a fish swimming in an ocean of food, eating and drinking my way though the current, like a blue whale scooping up plankton.
Buy a beer at 6pm and wander for hours, get those steps in till the market closes up by 11pm. You've never gotten so much exercise just from eating dinner. Plus with the active calorie burn and sweat loss, rehydrate with another beer from seven 11! Don't forget to mix in water. (Gatorade or Pocari Sweat, if you aren't getting enough ions, though you should be getting plenty of salts with the foods).
If that's not enough exercise, hit one of the many balloon darts games, of better yet the archery games! For those with less upper body strength, duel weld airsoft pistols for extra excitement!
The largest night market and most famous. There are long lines for some of the most popular food dishes but you don’t have to wait that long. Some of the food we tried were fried milk, pork pepper bun, beef cubes with pink salt, oyster omelet, pork ribs medicinal herbal soup, and mango shaved ice. Prices were cheap.
Another bigger night market in Taipei. Lots of traditional Taiwanese food vendors with something for every taste. Compared with other night markets, this one also has an area with vendors of toys, clothing, souvenirs and so much more. You can easily spend few hours here and of course after getting tired of walking, recharge with some delicious street foods. And don't forget the streets around the market, these also packed with lots of stores and eateries.

Famous night market in Taiwan. It's a very big market. There are quite a lot of food to choose from. Unfortunately, it is a very crowded market. Makes the desire to buy various foods less. This market has a check-in point in the middle of the market. It's a large LED sign. Then there will be a little tiger pretending to come down below.
Shilin Night Market is a night market that offers both food and clothing. The market is not too large, allowing for a leisurely stroll. There are several famous stores here, such as the grilled mushroom stall, where you must queue, but the wait is not long. It's guaranteed to be worth the wait.
This is supposedly the biggest night market in Taipei but it definitely felt smaller than Raohe, perhaps because the underground food court is renovating. Some noteworthy foods include the oyster omelette, 小酥饼 and sweet potato balls. The papaya milk is good too but sweeter compared to others I’ve tried, not sure if they added sugar.

The Maokong Gondola is a cable car ride that runs from Taipei to Maokong Hill. The route takes around a half -hour or so one way and provides breath-taking views of the lush green hills and surrounding areas along the way. The starting point for the ride is the Maokong Gondola station a short walk down the main road from the Taipei Zoo MRT station on the Brown line. When you exit the station, you will be able to see the signs for the Gondola station. Note that the Gondola is unlikely to operate during bad weather, so plan your trip accordingly.
Please ensure that you have the requisite amount of credit loaded onto your Easy Card for a hassle-free ride. Be sure to check out the Taipei Maokong Gondola web page for pricing of fares, as there are a few short stops along the way including one for the beautiful Chih Nan Temple, just before reaching the final stop at Maokong Hill.
There are Gondolas which have a full glass bottom and others that do not. Opt for the former to make the most of some excellent views that the cable car ride provides. The fare for both is the same. The signs at the station should guide you to the correct queue – if in doubt ask the staff who will help.
When you reach the final stop – the Gondola Station at Maokong - be sure to check out the short minibus round trip ride that is available for free for Easy Pass holders. The minibus stop is but a few meters to the right as soon as you exit the Maokong Gondola station. It is a very short minibus round trip but will allow you to get a feel of the area which you can then plan for a walk if you wish. There are a number of hiking trails as well at Maokong for the more adventurous. There is an information desk at the Maokong station if needed.
A short walk down the road that runs just perpendicular to the station there is a restaurant with a brown wooden open-air terrace that provide an excellent view on a clear day. You can enjoy lunch and an excellent view with the Taipei 101 building in the far distance! If you should take the minibus ride, it will take this road when returning to the station, so you can't miss it.
My wife and I took the ride to Maokong on the morning of the last day of our visit to Taipei. Totally worth it!
Dont take the 75NT per pax for 15min cab. If you use the Easycard to pay for the gondola, you can get a free bus ride down! Gondola trip is about 20mins long. Great view and not crowded in the morning and afternoon. Taipei citizens have a discount for the gondola. Clean station.

This is a great zoo with a lot of animals and it is nicely landscaped. Right now, due to the pandemic, you can reserve a time online to come. There were morning or afternoon ticket options. There were nice indoor and outdoor exhibitions throughout the zoo.
Very beautiful and organised zoo.
It is huge and one should visit it in the morning only to make sure it is explored properly. We went there late so were unable to visit each and every corner. It has different areas for different animals of various regions. The ticket is also affordable.
There are multiple food courts in the zoo, so no need to worry about carrying food and water.
Excellent experience. Kids had a blast. Only 60 NT per person and cheaper if you use your MRT card (40). Lots of places to get drinks and cool off. There are vending machines or convenience stores. The animals look well taken care of and my family enjoyed the animals very much.
A very big zoo and it has lots of animals ranging from little insects to big safari animals. It is great for all ages. Prepare to walk a lot and ready an umbrella for possible rainfall. There are trolleys for rent. The entrance fee is affordable

This zoo is HUGE and I love it! Enjoyed walking around zoo and search for animals. Some animals were sleeping and covered by bushes, few resting higher than our eye level, so just have fun searching for them!
Love how the zoo layout and design for all animals’ “cages”. If you didn’t get to find particular animal in their “cage” at the front view, you get to walk to the sides to search for them.
I would suggest you to take their shuttle train from main station (near entrance) to bird station (almost the end of the zoo), then only you start visiting the zoo.
MUST take photo of the map, and see which garden you would want to visit. You might not want to see all animals of you only plan to stay half a day there.
Besides, get yourself mosquitoes repellent sticker or spray! Or you gonna be mosquitoes food bank 😆
Great zoo, super walkable and lots to do for kids. Definitely recommend mosquito and insect repellent spray, we got absolutely eaten alive by the biting midges and are miserably itchy days later.

Lots of animals in different variety. Huge park and well maintained! Lovely place and couldn’t finish a complete walk there even spending the full day there. I will definitely revisit!! Tickets are also cheap that I am a bit worried if they can rely on it for park maintenance.
Incredible variety of animals, from Australian wildlife to African safari animals and panda bears. This zoo takes a whole day to venture through. Strollers recommended for kids, it’s a lot of walking.
The bird area is fun because you see a large variety of birds in an open space setting, peacocks chilling in the same area as flamingos.
Plenty of space for picnicking and rest areas.
The Panda house closes at 5PM and they are adamant about getting people out at 5 but it’s so worth it because you can see 2 of the pandas that were born in the zoo. And the pandas are not shy about saying hi!
Normally I feel sad about seeing animals in their cages, but these animals seemed pretty happy. Except for the penguins, they all seemed content to be living there. The penguins wanted out, and they have buckets placed in their caves so the penguins stand outside for visibility. Some of the penguins were just starring at the wall.
One of the BEST zoos I have ever visited! You need all day to see each section!! We thought a 3-4 hour would cover the zoo but this zoo is huge! Animals are in nice exhibits with foliage. Signs are in multiple languages.

Taipei Zoo has various kinds of fauna spread over a vast area. We can see them in animal categories according to their natural habitat and origin. There are multiple animals from various continents, including pandas, koalas, and penguins, which are very rare to find. One of the highlights is their habitat which is very well preserved even in a zoo.

Overall, a great deal and variety of animals from different parts of world that can be rarely seen. The animals seem to have a good living environment as they have a large enclosure to live in compared to other zoos. However, this may also mean that sometimes the animals cannot/ hard to be seen
Accessibility: There is a MRT station located next to the zoo. It takes approximately ~5-7 minutes to walk there from the station. Very convenient.
Environment: Lots of greenery which truly makes you immersed into the 'wildlife'. There are also lots of sloops and chairs to sit on when tired! The environment is clean and well maintained.
Payment methods: When buying the ticket to the zoo, as tourist, we mainly used cash. Tickets cost 60NT per person (no discounts for tourists)

A lot of walking and a lot of people! The pathways were large enough to accommodate many visitors. The exhibits were purposely placed so you can go 1 route only. The map was easy to follow. There were a lot of food stores around.

Really affordable zoo at just 100ntd per pax (adults). The zoo was conveniently located right outside the metro station and it took around 5 hrs to completely walk through. Klook tickets allow you entry immediately via entrance 5. Super value for money. Food within the park was also reasonably priced, with a lot of themed foods (e.g. tiger bao outside the tiger exhibit) and clean toilets everywhere! There's also a children's zoo which was really enjoyable for adults too and chances to get up close to many animals e.g. butterflies, birds, alpacas, etc.
Loved so the animals they had - it's quite a bit area to cover so we didn't manage to see everything in 2 hours. Koala's are weather dependant, and the panda can be shy, The highlight for me was the puma! they're incredibly noisy and annoying. it's awesome! :D
The zoo was indeed very big as advertised. Took us more than 3 hours to completely tour the entire zoo. Sadly, there were some animals not shown not sure why but maybe due to some issues. Tickets cost NT60 per adult and shuttle trains cost NT5 which you can pay using the easy card. Overall, it's a very nice and clean zoo and not to be missed!
Entrance is extremely cheap. Very accessible via public transport. If with kids that are small, take a stroller. It is huge. Lots of different animals, some parts in need or maintainance, others perfect. Good array of food and drink once inside and easy access to the gondola.

Beginner level trail. Worth the view
Takes about 20 minutes up stairs hike, gets you to about more than half the height of Taipei 101. Great views all around Taipei, and can continue hiking for hours if like to many other trails.
It's a steep climb but offers a beautiful view of Taipei 101 tower along the way. Best to go there late in the afternoon to catch the sunset.
I loved the climb! It’s a very straight forward upwards climb with steeper steps towards the peak but it was very rewarding. The view of Taipei 101 and the city were really pretty. The climb is about 20 minutes but add 10 minutes for photo taking and waiting for people to take photos. There’s a totem indicating the peak but I walked a little more forward and found an even better view of Taipei 101. I recommend to walk another 20m to get an extra view. Climbing in January is great because of the cool weather.

It's unbelievable that there are so many forests and natural areas in the city. You can easily travel by bus or subway or by walking.
I came for the walk in January when the weather was moderately cold and slightly rainy, which was nice. The walkway is not difficult to walk, mostly stairs. The view from the top offers a great view of Taipei City and Taipei 101.

I climbed this at night and got great views of Taipei 101. It takes roughly 10-15 minutes to climb. You might see some cute cats along the way. On the topic of nature, I recommend bug spray as there could be mosquitos. Overall, a nice climb.
Awesome trail. It's not easy but it's not hard. The elders on this path destroyed me lol. They're so fast. The stairs are steep in some areas. And they have good signage that tells you how long it takes to get to the next spot. It has excellent views of the city and plenty of photography spots.
Easy trail, friendly for all ages. Nice view, a few look up points fir photo taking. There's a toilet on the right side of entrance, clean and free. Many coffee shops nearby 👍🏻
The start of the trail is near Taipei 101 and it takes about 20-25 mins to get all the way to the top. Once you get there you get awesome views of the city. You should be somewhat fit to do this. Would be hard for elderly but if you’re patient you can do several stops along the trail. Worth it!
Ten minutes walk from the MRT station and various starting points plus routes. Picked the paved version as didn’t have hiking shoes. Many spots to take photos and fill up with drinking water. Mind the insects if you tend to attract bites. Should plan to spend at least an hour to enjoy the hike.
Feeling so fresh waking up early in the morning and walking the trail to the top of the mountain. You can spot the beautiful Taipei101 building from here too. I enjoyed the view along the way and feel rewarding when I reached the top. Surely recommend a morning walk for all the early birds.

The photos were taken after hiking for three hours from Nangang to Jiuwu to Xiangshan! 3/09/2024 Our journey started from Jiuzhuang and passed HU shih park to find this starting route to JIU WU PEAK! It was 14 degrees and average but we all made it to Elephant( Xiangshan Mountain)

Great museum if you're interested in the hot spring culture. It's FREE. Plenty of staff to help you if you have questions. Very clean and well maintained. A must visit if you're in 北投
Excellent walk around the museum. If you stroll around, it will take about 20 to 30 minutes maximum. Shows you the history behind the museum and some interesting facts. Need to remove shoes to exchange for slippers to walk around - avoid wearing lace shoes if you plan to go there, although they have a sitting area for you to move and put on your shoes. English translations are provided.
This is a historic building and an excellent museum. The building has been brilliantly renovated and the museum is very well run. Many volunteers are on site providing outstanding service.
My personal opinion is that some areas might be overly decorated, such as the large bath on the first floor. It would be better if it could be restored to its original appearance.

As part of a go to place to experience the colonial era Taiwan, this place is really well maintained so to serve as a centerpiece of the tourist destination. It’s surrounded by more modern spring hotel.
It held exhibition from time to time.
You can plan a weekend to have the fullest of what’s offered, along with the Library, thermal valley, and some local cuisine.
Visited this museum twice in just one month. And thankfully, it's FREE ! My family really enjoyed seeing the old things inside the museum. We had fun making a skit with the video projection of the hot springs where we saw ourselves also projected on screen 😁

Went to Beitou. Took the latest train connection "Xinbeitou" and walk (out from station, at junction, take the 12'clock direction and walk uphill for about 7mins or so. You will see the lovely museum on your right.
Free entrance, need to remove shoes and you can take a look at the historical building that was once used during Japanese occupation and got abandoned until a team of school children on History lessons make petition to revive it. .rest is history, worth the stopover especially if weather is hot 🥵

Located inside Beitou Park. Near Xinbeitou Station. It is a small museum that show you the history of hot spring in Taiwan. Admission is free. You need to take off your shoes before entering. They will assign you a cabinet to put your shoes.
You can see a historic hot spring inside.
I enjoy the atmosphere here. It makes me feel relaxed. However, you may feel a bit hot in summer.
BTW, there is no entrance fee!

Pretty interesting small museum about the hot spring bath. I think the timeline and evolution of the bath house is pretty interesting during the various periods of Taiwanese history.

This museum takes us back in time to when hot springs baths shops began in Taiwan/Beitou. The museum offers a number of interactive features showing how people enjoyed the hot springs baths in historic times. There are displays showing how people dined and lived in Beitou. A great place to experience the past in Beitou.
Free admission. Take off your shoes at the entrance and the staff will lead you to the locker to put your shoes, change into slippers and retrieve the antique wooden locker key with your locker number on it.
The museum is two storey and you can leisurely finish walking around in 30minutes or so. Good info on the history of Beitou Hot Spring area. Worth a visit.
🚝Beitou is a small city not far from Taipei. Just take the train for half an hour and get off at MRT Xinbeitou Station.
⛲️The way to the hot springs passes a very beautiful park, library, and museum. Stop and take photos along the way. Along the way There is a hot spring flowing through. The hot steam floats with a slight sulphur smell because it is a volcanic hot spring.
♨️The Beitou Hot Springs scenic spot, it was really amazing. The water is clear green and the trees are plentiful.

The museum covers topics from history of Beitou’s to discovery of the hot spring and how they were developed to the downfall and disrepair of the area to the construction of the current museum. Museum features two levels without an elevator so the bottom floor isn’t accessible. There are plenty of plaques in English (and Chinese) so would definitely recommend a visit.
Visitors have to remove their shoes, which can be stored in a free locker, and walk around in provided sandals.

During my visit to Beitou Hotspring Museum in December, the freezing temperatures outside made me appreciate the warmth and comfort of the hot springs even more. One of the best parts about this museum is that it's completely free of charge, making it accessible to everyone who wants to learn more about the history and significance of the hotsprings in Beitou.
As I entered the museum, I was greeted by friendly volunteers who kindly instructed me to take off my shoes before entering. This added a touch of authenticity and respect to the experience. The museum itself is incredibly informative, providing visitors with a wealth of knowledge about the hotsprings, their geological origins, and their cultural importance in Taiwan.
Beyond the educational aspect, the museum also offers a variety of activities to engage visitors. The size of the area allows for plenty of space to explore and interact. I particularly enjoyed the interactive displays and exhibits that allowed me to fully immerse myself in the hotspring experience.
Additionally, the museum provided ample opportunities for the perfect Instagram-worthy picture. The picturesque surroundings and stunning architecture of the museum make it a great spot to capture memorable moments.
Overall, I would rate my experience at Beitou Hotspring Museum a 9.5 out of 10. The combination of educational content, engaging activities, and beautiful surroundings make it a must-visit destination when in Beitou.

Lots of food! It's mostly a 2 lane street walk.
So you can walk down one lane with stalls flanking both sides and do a loop back to visit stores in the parallel lane. Set aside about 2 hrs to complete the route (including eating time).
There are some clothing and toy stores as well. But the main draw is clearly the food.
When in doubt on what to eat, just join the queue :)
Two of the must haves:
1. Rice dumplings on ice (this is a proper store in a building to the side of the walking street, entering from the main entrance, it's about a 3min walk on the left)
2. Pepper meat bun (first stall in the middle at the entrance)
The avocados are HUGE! Never seen such giant ones before. Can consider buying them whole to bring home.
Didn't see any toilets around so you may want to go before you go.
Lots of bins around for trash.
A great night market to visit with friends and family. The locations is very strategic, right beside the MRT situation with a huge temple in front. So many good food, although some are more expensive compared to other night market. Near rainbow bridge, which has a cozy atmosphere to hangout with your friends and/or dates.
Always a must when going to Taipei. Great selection of food, easy to walk, usually not that crazy busy and the most important part: the pork pepper buns at the entrance! Those buns alone are worth going there! Also the rest is very good!
I recently had the opportunity to visit a night market in Taiwan for the first time, and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience. The variety of food available was simply amazing, and as a first-timer, I felt compelled to try everything, even the food that may not appeal to a foreigner.
But even with my adventurous spirit, I was still blown away by the mushroom stands at the night market. The mushroom dishes were some of the best I've ever tasted, and I would highly recommend them to anyone visiting the market.

in the market I found a few vegan option include grilled mushroom that were delicious, the guy making them give a full show as he dance while he chop and seasoned them.
I've tried stinky tofu, although the smell is hideous the taste was actually alright, it came on a plate with a cabbage salad on the side I also came across a fruit stand where I've got a mango cup that was a bit soft but taste alright.

Better market than shilin! Food stalls are competitive and overall of good quality. Huge variety of things to try, get the pepper buns, chicken sausage, sweet potato balls. Lots of interesting shops, and a nice linear layout so that you won't get lost.
We visited this night market around 6-8 PM. It was very good experience. There are many interesting local street foods with reasonable prices. I think it is not soo crowed during weekdays. And I really recommend you to visit this place whenever you have a chance in Taipei. Cheers :)
Wonderful place with amazing flame grilled beef cubes. The whole atmosphere was exciting and there were many different types of foods. There was also a beautiful temple at the entrance and stall owners were so friendly, offering to help throw your trash if you purchase from them. Had the best Taiwanese 山猪 sausages and crackled pork belly there! Milk tea was so good too!
I can tell you it's a recommended night-market! This is a great place to start if you enjoy grabbing a quick snack.

This is a must visit night market in Taipei. Come here and be wow-ed with how awesome night market in Taipei can be. The variety of food here is huge and the street is easy to walk, basically just 2 direction, from front-to-back and back-to-front. Pictures should speak for the market (stalls are randomly chosen and taken). The only downside is that prices have gone up over the years, so pick your favourites wisely with limited appetite and money set aside to be spent on night market 😬
The best first-visit night market in Taipei. Rows of delicious food stalls with a variety of shops along the side. Can get crowded during peak time (around 7-8pm) so get there close to opening to beat the lines at the most popular stalls. Also try to visit on weekdays for even less crowds.
Most sellers can speak/understand enough English to order with no trouble.
Sundays get pretty busy so come on a weekday. Be prepared for sensory overload. There are a couple michelin stalls here, but expect a line. I particularly liked the crispy donuts, and the ice cream with shaved peanuts rolled into a wrap. Fruit juices are everywhere, but if you prefer sodas, buy some at the 7-11 prior to entering the market. Worth the visit (once), when you are in Taiwan.

A wonderful night market with lotsa food options. The pepper bun is famous and you can see the long queue for it. The polo bun is incredible: everything a polo bun should be--crispy and flaky on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Also tried the famous herbal soup pork/lamb--warm and hearty on a winter night

This night food market was an amazing experience! There were so many different food options to choose from, and everything looked and smelled delicious. I tried the fried chicken and it was some of the tastiest I've ever had. Despite being so delicious, the food was very affordable and I was able to sample a variety of dishes without breaking the bank. The perfect night market for foodies! Compared to the other night matkets of Taipei, this night market has the most food choices! Highly recommended if you are in to street food and want to try Taiwan's best local foods. 5/5 will definitely go back. Food prices are very reasonable and the locals are super friendly.
This was one of my favorite night markets. A lot of variety of different snacks. Prices are very cheap and many items are very shareable. If you have a group, i would recommend getting many items and then share. Popcorn chicken is a must. Here are some of the items we tried: fried shrimp with mayo and sprinkles, fried squid, Taiwanese sausage, monga fried chicken (huge piece), apple flavor blueberry ice cream, stinky tofu fries (really good), seafood cooked with beer, and multiple versions of the tofu pudding.

One of the largest night markets you will find in all of Taiwan. The streets are incredibly packed on the weekend and there is little space to wander, instead people walk in a continuous line until they find a stall they want then they get out of line to buy it. Lots of options for food and games, though none too terribly unique compared to other large night markets in the area.
So many people!!! The temple near the market is one of the good places to feel about Taipei. In front of the market, there is a long queue to buy a beef dumpling - it was good. The taste is a bit strong but worth to try. A person like me who likes healthy and organic food, the night market is not a good place but enjoyable. What I like the most was the donut shop! It was really tasty!!
Really good night market with a variety of food, snacks, gifts, and claw machines games to try. My number 1 food item which we came across and went back to is the pineapple bun that was freshly baked there with some butter. 😋 We also tried our luck at the claw machines and won some treats for ourselves. The sticky tofu was quite good and strong 👍 The stewed tripe, brisket, and intestines was quite delicious. You pick how much you want and they will weigh it then cut them into pieces for you. We didn't like the picked veggies so we asked them not to put it on the next day we went.
My favorite night market in Taipei, better than Ximending. More choices of various food stalls with better quality and tastier : pork bun, black pork sausage, sugar cane and watermelon juice.
One of my favourite night market that I will always visit whenever I am in Taipei. It been 5 years since I last visit and glad that all my favourite food is still around. Walk around and try so many foods that fill up my fat tummy. They should place more rubbish bin for us to throw around Raohe, which I find a bit lacking.
During my visit to Raohe Night Market, it happened to be raining. Despite the weather, we decided to try the Black Pepper Bun. It was legendary – a crispy bread filled with juicy pork patty. Although it was well-prepared, personally, I’m not particularly fond of black pepper flavor. Fortunately, the rain seemed to deter some crowds, making the queue more manageable.

A romantic way to spend an evening in Taipei (as long as skies are clear. This is a great way to get your bearings and enjoy the skyline of Taipei. I advise checking sunset times before coming. And do note there is an outside platform upstairs. I was really impressed with all the scenes that they had created inside for Instagram style shots- like picnic area, angel wings, grass with light up bubbles. This is a great place to take pictures of kids as well was friends.
Really great observatory. I was impressed by the photo opportunity areas that had flower and picnic scenes you could put yourself in for some great photos with the view in the background. Best about them are that these were numerous and no extra charge. There were some nice exhibits on the construction, the dampening weight, and tower information. I liked the interactive touch screen where you can scan around and tap on and read about points of interest in several different languages.
Lots of people will say you haven’t officially visit taipei if you haven’t visit Taipei 101, well while you’re there, don’t forget to visit the observatory as well! I’d suggest to check the weather in advance, it was cloudy during my visit but the view was breathtaking nonetheless. You will have 360 view of Taipei, and I expect it to be amazingly gorgeous during the night as well with the night view of Taipei. You can also see the great earthquake pendulum, and understand how it works, how it manages to keep Taipei 101 safe from earthquakes. There are coffee shop and souvenir shops on the observatory level, but you can also sit around and enjoy the view without purchasing anything. Be careful of the pricing, because they have several different pricing; local people, international, student, ARC, etc.
Every tourist visiting Taipei should make an effort to visit the observatory.
In my visit, it was a rainy day. They had closed off level 91's outdoor observatory given the weather. Nevertheless, the view from level 89 was good enough. There were not too much crowd during my visit hence was able to take my time in enjoying the sight. The other marvel is the lift. It only took about half a minute to get from level 5 to 89. Getting down was slightly slower at 45 seconds.
An incredible experience that's worth the ticket! There is so much to see and do when you go up! The elevator ride is a high-speed marvel, rocketing you smoothly to the top. There are drink and gift shops and lots of photo setups. Go outside or look out the panoramic windows. See the massive damper that makes this building wind and earthquake resistant.
Visited several times but this was the best because there was no line or crowd and we went at sunset on New Years Eve. If you are a foreigner with an ARC, you can receive the local admission rate, which is quite reasonable.
Pretty good. I bought the ticket on-site (600 NT for foreign visitors), people said booking it from Klook is cheaper. But, if you have ARC you'll get the local price, 400 NT something. Use it to explore the whole visitable area.
I went on weekday (Friday), but it's so crowded, especially at night. Too bad the available seats aren't enough so some people enjoying the sunset/view while sitting on the floor.
Inside the observatory floor, you'll find a small cafe for a cup of coffee, souvenir shops, vending machines, and tokens machine.
You can go to the upper floor where you can enjoy the strong wind hitting your face in the open-space area. You can see it in my video, the wind is too strong to the point you can hear the screeching sound of it!
One of the fastest train in ride in less than 1min. Its quite pricey the ticket but its all worth it. The view are amzing and the mall is full of beautiful shops and very tasty foods.💯
I had the most incredible experience at the Taipei 101 observatory! The 360-degree view of Taipei is absolutely breathtaking, allowing me to truly appreciate the beauty of the city from a whole new perspective. The elevator ride was incredibly fast, whisking me up to the observatory in no time. I also loved that there were plenty of options for food and drinks on the 89th floor, making it a perfect spot to relax and indulge while taking in the stunning views. Although there is an additional fee to reach the 101st floor, it's well worth it for those seeking an even more elevated experience. Highly recommended!
We went there to see sunset. We didn't book the tickets, just walked in, and the ticket counter team were so friendly and gave student's price for my kids without asking their student id.
The place was so busy but still nice and heaps of room to take pictures.

It's better to check the forecast and the visibility before to go. The outdoor observatory is closed on rainy days and the visibility is not good
Great experience! We went in the late afternoon and carried out visit into the evening. The observatory wasn't crowded, we had an opportunity to take our time taking pictures at the various photo opt locations atop the observatory created. Definitely a top destination in Taipei!
Absolutely spectacular at a relatively reasonable entrance fee compared to other top-high skyscrapers globally. Definitely a worth point to stop during your Taipei trip.
The experience up at the observatory was a nice one since we were able to catch the sunset. Wasn’t really prepared for it but when we were up there we saw lots of people already sitting at level 89 (indoors) with tripods. Fortunately, we went up to level 91 (outdoors) and captured the sunset.
It was a disappointment at level 101 (indoors) as it addition to the base ticket (level 89, 91). The lights was just too bright and we were unable to take good pictures due to reflections on the glass windows. So it’s not recommended to pay additional money to go up level 101 unless you just wants lesser crowds and it’s bright day time.
Wonderful! The observatory itself is great and has many spots thought as photo ops. There is a cafe and a super nice souvenir store, and of course you can see the mass damper. The sunset view is just gorgeous. The only drawback is the long line that builds, either for mobile tickets or in person purchases. I really liked the shopping mall on the base — very upscale and clean.
This was a great tourist attraction to go to. It looks beautiful at night. The price is about the same as any other major tourist attraction. I took off one star because we just missed the cut off time to do the skyline. Skyline is where you’re securely strapped and you can walk around outside at the very top. The views from the observation were stunning. Employees were nice and helpful.
Beautiful tourist attraction! They line the windows with photo worthy backdrops! Definitely go on clear day so you can see all the mountain views! It has gift stores and various food stalls. You can go up to 91F and see the outside. It's very windy and chilly.

The elevator to the top was a whole lotta fun. It's like taking off on a plane from a runway. I went to Taipei 101 on a cloudy day, so on the observation deck, I didn't see much besides clouds. Luckily, I was able to see the tuned mass damper that keeps the tower from crumbling. The shopping mall was like full of luxurious shops, and many restaurants to try to. The food court can get so crowded, as the mall opens at 11 am. I recommend getting a ticket the time the observation opens (10 am), so you can spend a little bit more time before the malls get jampacked with people. I also recommend to spend 30 minutes in the observation deck, so that you can return to the mall early, and have a bit of an early lunch, as food court seats get filled many times. But overalls, the observatory and the mall are really fun places to go.

Awesome experience! The ticketing counters for the observatory is located inside the mall but there are signs everywhere to bring you to where you need to go.
Ticketing staff can converse in different languages fluently so there's no issues with communication. They also informed of restricted views due to weather prior to your purchase so you will not end up in disappointment.
The standard ticket only allows entry to 89th level, for the higher level (which is outdoor if i understood correctly) requires an additional fee.
We got the standard tickets since the outdoor viewing is not available because of the bad weather, the ticketing staff told us the view is only about 30 percent but we decided to proceed anyway as we were already there and we dont have other time available. Thankfully, the view was still great despite the fog. And the fog actually cleared off after awhile!
The observatory is huge and spacious and clean! There are alot of photo spots set up so you can spend more time and make your money worth. There's also little cafes and gift shops around.

From a foreign perspective, my Taipei 101 visit was a great visit, especially the time where we watched the sunset here. It was a lot fun to learn about its damper and how it holds during an earthquake; they even have a mascot for it! A bit of a ride reaching the top and it might hurt your ears but it was worth it! Sunset was incredible and really majestic.
Fantastic place, awesome view and friendly staff. Good place to take photos. Breathtaking views of the surrounding area at 500+ metre high. Many cafes and shops to buy goodies, enjoying your cuppa and sitting around just enjoying the views. There's a number of seating area. Interesting gold ball, or they called it damper, to keep the building in-check if any earthquakes occur. It's a must to go and explore this observatory.

To learn more about Taiwan's history, this place is a must visit. The atmosphere and the ambience are serene, relaxing, and peaceful. As soon as you step inside the gate, it will feel like you're no longer in the middle of a big city. During my visit here, I was very fortunate to find it not crowded, and can sit around enjoying the beautiful surrounding and flowers with the sound of birds and insects. If you are lucky and get to see the changing guards, don't forget to see it with your eyes and not only with your gadgets through videos.
Of course, as a tourist, please read the rules before entering and respect the place. This is a shrine dedicated to martyrs, naturally we have to be quiet and be respectful.
So if you haven't visited the place, i would highly suggest you to spare some time to visit.

I visited during a time when there were no tourist buses and this made it a fantastic experience to be alone there. The shrine's temple and architecture are placed between forests and trees, creating a peaceful and quiet atmosphere. You can walk around the main buildings and read about different heroes who have fallen. One of my favorite places to visit in Taipei, would highly recommend a visit!
Built in 1969, next to Grand Hotel, The Martyr’s Shrine is a place to remember the history of 330,000 soldiers who heroically sacrificed for the country. The architecture simulates the palace of the National Palace Museum, the magnificence of the Monument symbolizes the indomitable spirit of the heroes and martyrs. The peaceful atmosphere and the changing of the guard ceremony attract visitors to this site. The ceremony of changing shifts at the temple with soldiers dressed formally with guns on their shoulders, creating a dignified feature for the temple, you can feel like they’re similar to the royal guards at Buckingham Palace, is also one of the highlights to attract domestic and foreign tourists. Taipei Martyrs’ Shrine is totally free and open for public. Next to it is the Yuanshan Scenic Area - one of the most favorite sights when watching Taipei at night, the glittering city lights, flying planes or gliding through the stars in the sky. creating a very attractive scene.

It was definitely remarkable and I did spend sometimes as I watched changing guards at the gate and one at the inner palace which was quite a sight and worth it.
You can reach this place by the bus (make sure to have a cash with exact change or else you won’t have any small change back to you, otherwise you should have rechargeable card which you use in the metro).
Lots to read and learn about the history of Taiwan. I got to watch the changing of the guards, very mesmerising to see them walk so in sync with one another. If you notice, on the floors, there are parallel lines that have been worn in over time from the countless changing of guards. Do be respectful of the surroundings as this is a place to honour those who have heroically lost their lives. Stay clear from the guards, and if you're in the way, the staff on-site will clear you off to the side. I would recommend planning your trip here to watch the guards and read up about the history. Unfortunately, I didn't get much time to read everything. However, I recommend at least 2 hours here if you plan to read, take photos, and watch the changing of the guards!

*we were on a timed tour* so we didn't get to walk around. Our driver took is to see the changing of the guards. It was fantastic to watch. What I saw from the beginning the memorial is beautiful detailed.
Go when the guards aren't changing shifts. Then you get to explore the tranquility and learn about the history of Taiwan. Head behind the main building to learn more.

Love the place for its historic artifacts and how they acknowledge each National Revolutionary Martyrs that help fought for their country. Had learn a lot from taiwaines culture and history very educational.
This shrine has immaculate architecture and every hour. You can witness the changing of the guard. If you go in the summer, just dress for the heat. It isn't a place where you need to be formal, so do not die of heatstroke thinking you must be dressed to the nines. It is well worth the wait. Arrive close to the top of the hour, or you'll be waiting in the heat to enter.
I was lucky to arrive before the change of guard. It was Impressively coreographed and I was in a prime spot to take great pictures and videos. A bit out of the way so Uber is a good idea.
Visited this location as part of a tour. We could only spend a short time here but I wish we could have spent a couple of hours longer. This is a war memorial to honor 330,000 men and women fallen in battle. They have a 'Changing of the Guards' of sorts, which we were lucky enough to have witnessed early in the morning. Due to the massive scale of the buildings, pictures are often difficult. The landscaping of the grounds is excellent. As you can see in the picture below, the soldiers walk on a singular path, each having his own line. Interesting.

The place is really beautiful. Going here is a bit far but I could say it is worth it. There are food stalls near the flower clock so you won't get hungry. The food is also pretty affordable and there are seats available. It is more of a self service one.
This place is full of good vibes. If you want to see natural environment just visit this place. It has sulfur containing hot springs but not allowed to bath. Gives a good view and sulfur smell. Keep a raincoat and jacket because it’s quite windy and rainy.
Park with beautiful landscape, flora, and fauna, sulfur springs, trekking tracts, grassland. You can get geographical information about the formation of mountains and sulfur springs from the tourist information centers. Try to carry a jacket, good pair of shoes, a raincoat, water bottle before going there. Weather is unpredictable. Well connected to public transportation. One of the best natural parks in Taiwan 🇹🇼

2. To get there, take a bus line 260 from Taipei main station (Opposite) to Yangmingshan bus terminal. From there, take another bus line 108 and drop at Mount Qixing.
3. You can start hiking from there.
4. Recommend to check the weather before you go there.
The place is so pretty especially the flowers, there's a lot of areas to take pictures. If you're not familiar with the place, it is a hiking trail bearable when you're ready for hike but I don't think it is good for tourist who don't want to hike for 30-40mins. It has up and down road so you have to be careful and wear comfortable shoes.
Good place for trekking. If you decide to trek better to prepare for lot of steps and good pair of shoes and not too heavy jacket.
Yangmingshan National Park is located between Taipei and New Taipei City. The national park is known for its cherry blossoms, hot springs, sulfur deposits, fumaroles, venomous snakes, and hiking trails, including Taiwan's tallest dormant volcano, Qixing (Seven Star) Mountain (1,120 m). This mountain range was originally called "Grass Mountain" .Yangmingshan National Park has a lower elevation. Even though mountain elevations range from only 200–1120 meters, beautiful landscapes such as ridges, valleys, lakes, waterfalls and basins are abundant.

Amazing view! Went in the morning and ended in the evening. Need to plan your route well.
Went during December, and it can get pretty cold. Make sure to be appropriately dressed.
Also, it gets pretty steep depending on the route you take.
If you are taking public transport, do take note of the frequency of the bus. Usually, it takes around 30-45 minutes. There is very limited capacity on the bus. Those waiting at the later bus stop will not be able to get on the bus if the bus is filled. Will have to keep waiting until there is space for you to board the bus.
Be prepared to spend a lot of waiting time will be spent on waiting for public transport.
Amazing trail, good for all levels of hikers. The northern trail to the peak is easier for ascending, the southern trail much steeper and longer. We took the southern trail to ascend this time, definitely more tiring, but we could enjoy the descending part more (to the northern entrance): much better scenery and less effort because we were on the way down.

1st stop for our mountain tour. Place is nice and clean.but not that much flower when we came today because its also cold season.
Going to the park for the first time is refreshing. The sceneries were astounding even though I visited during a rainy and foggy weekend. To fully enjoy all parts of Yangminshan, one or two visits would be recommended.
I went with a tour guide, which brought me up the mountain with a tour bus. I think there are many hiking trails so you can hike up the mountain too.
There’s a lot of scenic spots there, like hot springs and an active volcano. I recommend to plan your trip there or follow a tour guide. There are also restaurants in the mountains so you don’t have to pre pack lunch or dinner.
Temperatures up there is about like 4-6 degrees colder than sea level.
Overall very nice place with beautiful views so a must visit place in Taipei
Be careful !!! I had a great time BUT the Qixing trail can be dangerous. The trail is steep and unforgiving, so leave with plenty of time before sunset.
We took longer than expected due to the difficulty and we had to walk down in the dark.
It's a nice walk but prepare for difficultly, weather and sunlight.

Feel Very Good and fortunate to be here. An ancient temple in Taipei, and many people come here. Easy to visit. When you enter temple feel Peace of Mind. Very well Arranged.
Even though there are some travelers in the temple but the atmosphere is not too hectic.

Lying in the center of Taipei city, Xingtian temple is the temple with the most visitors from all over the world to North Taiwan, the number of visitor and tourist going in and out the temple in a day can reach tens of thousands of people. Xingtian temple is belonging to polytheism, mainly worshiping the 5 gods in Chinsese culture.
Not even free for public, Xingtian Temple also has some special characteristics: No merit boxes, no gold burning, no performing thanksgiving to Gods, no fundraising campaigns and banning business acts. The temple is run by Xingtian Legal Group, which also built two libraries (located in downtown Taipei and Beitou) and En Chu Kong Hospital in Sanjia, showing that religion not only soothes light people's hearts, but also help people's daily life very realistic.
Xingtian Temple is around 10 minutes from Songjiang Domestic Airport and 15 minutes from Taipei Main Station, also located right at the cross between Songjiang road and Minsheng road, 2 of the main roads of Taipei city and right in front of Xiangtian Temple MRT, giving it a great destination and tour spot with convenient traffic to get and go.
This definitely is one of the places you need to check out when visiting Taiwan. Temples are one of the culture of Taiwan, and it will bring you peace of mind when getting inside. The temple looks very pretty, and there are couches for people to pray. Very recommend to pay a visit and make a prayer.

There many are people get in the lines for a local blessing ceremony (as I understand).
You can get here by the yellow MRT line and walk about 5 mins.

I used to come here very often praying for everything goes smoothly when I was living and working in Taipei.
The temple is built to honour the god of the martial arts Guangong. It represents the spirit of justice and what we call as "YiChi", an honourable behaviour that always standby the side of the love ones.
You can find your inner peace the first moment you step into the temple.
Listening to the beautiful chanting sounds, learning how to greet the god and how to worship them by heart.
Even you have zero knowledge of Tao philosophy at least you get to appreciate the beauty of the architecture and the culture.
