No need to have a ticket to visit this place. It’s an interesting location on the border between Myanmar, Laos and Thailand. They have an incredibly large gold Buddha and lots of artwork. There are lots of small shops, restaurants and stands where you can spend money. We walked up and down for about 15 minutes before getting back in the car and leaving. There is free parking all along for you to be able to stay.

Worth a visit if you are in Chiang Rai. The place is pretty unique due to the geographical location where 3 countries meet and separated by a river. We could literally see Laos and Myanmar from this view point. I had the chance to drive along Myanmar border and Laos border here.

It was sunny and hot today. Nice park by the Mekong River where the three countries, Thailand, Myanmar, Laos meet. Several statues, and vendors offering boat rides. Also vendors in stalls selling clothes, bags, food, drinks, etc. Supposedly this wasn't high season for tourists, so we did not encounter crowds. To cool off, we got a couple of coconut slushies.

What a beautiful place to visit. We went there to do our border run after finding out the Myanmar / Mae Sai border was closed. At the Golden Triangle, you'll find opportunities for photo/video and some places to eat. And the opium museum, too. Some epic road trips in the region also.

We arrived here around 9:30 in the morning, well before it got busy. This is good for taking pictures. There isn't that much to see but we did enjoy the visit. We rode a rented scooter from Chiang Rai and would recommend as it is cheaper than a tour and you have your own freedom. Stayed maybe 45 minutes and than moved on.

Nice place - the photos make it seem that the triangle is bigger than it is. That's fine though - it's still a cool concept and the local area is nice. The food spots are quite nice nearby too. While there's a view high up that's quite nice, the triangle itself is at street level. There are two of them too.

For sure I've has more spectacular views but this has grear cultural significance as the intersection point of 3 countries. In actuality that intersection is in the middle of the river where the Ruak river meets the Mekong river. A monument marks the spot closest to this intersection. You get a good view if you walk up the Hill behind, past the Temple where there is a similar monument. Myanmar looks wild and untamed, but quite astonished to see the development taking place in Laos by the Chinese whi have crested a "Special Economic Zone" along a large stretch of the Mekong. The border crossing, by river, are currently closed to everyone.

Took a guided tour on a boat in this area. It was cool to be able to travel from Thailand to Lau‘s and back within a couple of minutes. The area has a very interesting history. I wouldn’t say that there’s a lot to look at around the place. However, if you take a guided boat tour, I would certainly say it’s worth it. There’s a man who tried to take individual photos of each of us, and charge us for 100 baht for them. This person will take a photo of you, even if you say no. One man in our tour group had his hand towards the camera and still they printed it out and tried to sell it to him, be aware of the persistent photographer (it was really funny)

1500 bhat for a private boat down from 2,000 bhat. Only one place to catch a boat. For shared boat you have to wait for another group that will take you. Honestly there is absolutely nothing of interest on the Laos side. Many closed stores. This was on a Monday. A few shops open selling knock offs and not very interesting ones at that. I’ve uploaded a video so you can see for yourself what you’re not missing.

Booked a tour for this trip so we can have a stress free visit around Chiang Rai. I would definitely recommend visiting this spot where three countries can be seen in one place. This place is very rich in history. Definitely a must visit when you are in Chiang Rai.

Very unique experience that being able to stand at the point among borders of three countries - Thailand, Myanmar, and Laos. Obviously Thailand side is most developed. Meanwhile many constructions being done at the “special economical zone” on Laos side. I guess Laos is supported by China government. It’s worth to spend 4.5 hours driving from Chiang Mai to here.

Interesting history to learn about and some ancient sites, but not too many activities to do in the actual golden triangle area. I’d recommend a day trip as you can see everything within a day. I was unsuccessful to get a GRAB to pick me up, no drivers in the area, but you can probably get a ride with the blue taxi trucks. You can take a boat to Laos and go to the casino easily. Most places are closed by sundown or 9pm at the latest.

It is definitely a must-go place if you're in north Thailand. However, it is also one of the most overcrowded and touristic spots in the area. We went there with a guided tour from Chiang Mai, had a short stop including a short boat ride on the Mekong (about 40 Minutes) where the guide explained a bit about local history. I missed a bit of the expected "ancient romantic atmosphere"... it's just a worn down end of a harbor village, full of old market halls (without markets...) a 7/11 and some souvenir shops. Directly on the riverside you have the famous temples, and with the right angle and some patience you also get your "empty space romantic" Instagram shots ;-). Good to know: You can actually book a boat that brings you to the Laos-side, where you can get your Visa (...or not...!). Also, there's a luxury casino on the Laos side, specialized on Chinese tourists, which is forbidden in Thailand.

I visited on 19th Jan'24, until now I'm still feeling this place is amazing, I can use 'magical' to describe this place. You can see another land of 2 different countries when you are standing at another. It's really worth paying a visit.

I personally found the Gold Triangle experience very fascinating. Thailand side is all about tourism and museums. Myanmar side is basically a jungle with a casino opened by Thai. Laos side is now a giant casino and city opened by Chinese. It is very sad to see how Laos is now colonised by Chinese as the Chinese leased the Laos side for 99 years, they are building giant concrete jungle and expensive housing project. I am Chinese origin and I think it is wrong. The contrast of the three countries are so huge. If I need to make a choice, I will choose Thailand every single time, and I hope Thailand don't repeat what Laos is going through.

It is what it is; a trilateral Border meeting point between Burma, Thailand and Laos. It makes the most of the Tourist Dollars. The boat rides don’t take you to the Paradise Resort. You cannot cross into Burma this way.

Although not large in size, they have packed a lot of fascinating information into this well-designed historical tribute to the area of 3 intersecting countries. Opium was so valuable it was called GOLD - thus the name "Golden Triangle". My photos do a much better job of explaining how well this whole museum is assembled. There are brief but very clear descriptions in English and other languages about how opium was grown and harvested and traded. I learned a lot. There is a wide range of amazing pipes and special cutting tools on display - so you really get a sense of what life must've been like back then (not too long ago actually) The whole tour will take you maybe an hour; especially if you take a right turn (next to the jail) and wander upstairs to discover the equally well-curated HILL TRIBES and tobacco and ganga smoking section. Interestingly, all the hill tribes that had their own unique way of growing and selling opium. Some smoked it and others didn't touch it. The photos of the ladies wearing Neck Rings is worth the admission price itself (which is very reasonable - plus you get a free postcard as a memento).Parking is plentiful. When you exit, leave some time to explore the excellent shop downstairs. There are souvenirs here that I’ve never seen anywhere else before. The staff are attentive, they speak English and the whole experience is first class. Congratulations to all involved.

It was unexpected interesting museum. Since we were visiting the area we thought to visit the museum just to be able to say that we did it and did not get much expectation from it. The House of Opium is a small private museum established by Mrs. Phatcharee Srimathayakun who was born in Chiang Saen District. After graduating from the Faculty of Education, Chulalongkorn University and living in Bangkok and Chiang Mai, she returned to her birthplace in order to open an antique shop and a small guest house in 1987. She began collecting artistic objects and studying the opium trade in the Golden Triangle by reading books on opium, documents provided by Thailand’s Narcotics Control Board, and university studies. She lived with tribal people from the Hill tribe, Shan, Lu, Burmese and Lao who migrated to the village and nearby areas. She saw that their antiques were historical, artistic and culturally valuable. Therefore, in 1989, she opened House of Opium museum to display opium artifacts and combine the interesting stories of opium in the Golden Triangle.

Great place to learn history and interesting things about opium. Visited on national holiday but not much visitors, mostly foreigners. Ticket price is not high for Thais. Parking at front or street parking. There’re also tour guides for English and Chinese, but booking in advance.

Truly the real history of opium production. Hopely, the owner get sufficient funds to renovate upstairs and provide better accounts on the life and times of Khun Sa. Instead of just provide information about opium production, more information can also provide for the understanding of lawlessness, banditry, and piracy in the upper Mekong (Burmese region) and how opium is no longer the demand but evolved to Yaba and artificial opiate production like Fenatyl.

I enjoyed this museum as it had a lot of artifacts and was a complete history of the opium trade in that area. I would go again as it was entertaining, good gift shop, a decent bathroom and air conditioning!

The museum surprised me with its modern and concise presentation of opium history ( still not sure about the wars though, did I miss this part?), intriguing but not overwhelming. Half of hour was almost enough for this part of the museum, there is also an exhibition on different Nothern Thailand tribes and their clothes. The entry costs 50 baths and you get a postcard to stamp on.

We went to experience the glass floored viewing platform. An amazing facility and the views were stunning. They shuttle you from the bottom of the hill near the temple and that was extremely well run and efficient. A magic place to visit.

Aside from the beautiful temple there is a very popular skywalk on the top of the mountain. You can walk there or take a cheap shuttle. A must see view of Mekong river and Laos.

Cannot write a review for the temple, I've been there mainly for the skywalk to have a view of the Golden Triangle from the top. Nice view, but you have to pay the shuttle for going up and down and an extra ticket for the skywalk.

Attractive by the glass sky walk that you can see the view of Maekhong river and Republic of Lao on the opposite side of the river. However this place manage as too commercialize not so care the visitors. I found some old and weak people have to get off from the service car on the defined point. The have to claim the steep hill for a log distance to get in the sky walk with another charge from the temple. The place was not so clean and so many shops in the area.

There were no other visitors during a late evening visit. Perfect place to meditate if the weather permits. 50 baht entrance fee payable to the caretaker, if he happens to be around at the gate.

Wat Pa Sak is an incredible temple ruin located in Thailand. It is a beautiful destination that has an old world charm. It was a temple that is very very old. I came here with a guide and they told us about the history of this temple. It is amazing how it’s still standing. I would say it’s only interesting if you knew you, Siri history behind it. 5 stars isn’t enough. Everything about the Anantara Chiang Mai resort has been thought out beautifully; with ecological, conservationist and sustainability at its core. Ive included many photos as there is a lot to see and do. Probably the best breakfast Ive ever had at a hotel.

My 3 night stay at here has been the highlight of my 5 week tour of SE Asia. The staff are SO kind, gentle and welcoming. They are very accommodating and flexible with their approach to dining, activities and overall they want guests to be relaxed and happy. Each part of the hotel, I found staff waiting to help me and make my stay as pleasant as possible. Jessie and the spa team carried out lovely massage and facial treatments and a special shout out to three dining team for making solo dining so fun and relaxing. Food was delicious and portion sizes left me feeling sustained for the day. The elephant experience package is well worth it but I could have easily stayed for a week and read my book here. Wow, such a magical place and I will definitely return when I can!

We went there for a lunch only so I will not be able to comment on the room or other services the hotel has to offer. The view is breathtaking, surrounded by jungle you'll be able to admire (if you're lucky enough) at elephants casually hanging out in front of the hotel. Let's talk food now: The Thai appetizers were delicious and I highly recommend the Kao Soi (northern specialty). The mango sticky rice is delicious and so big it should be shared. Useful tip if you go there to rent the sidecar for a ride in the jungle: you cannot drive it yourself and need to book a driver.

This was one of the best experiences of our lives. From the greeting to the departure, it could not have been better. The staff is ultra professional, the food is incredible, and the setting is nothing short of magical. I could gush for hours about this amazing place!

We just visited for lunch, not stay over night. Beautiful restaurant with amazing view while you can see elephants at the jungle in front of the restaurant! The good was delicious! Only one thing abt burger that my friend ordered was not as rare enough as he requested. Food is 4 stars to me! The beautiful restaurant and the view are 5 stars!

Experience “walk with giant” is great. Gym is far away from resorts so it’s quiet at the most of the time. Breakfast provides fresh mixed fruit juice on your choice which is a big plus!

Very nice location and the service was great. It is also nice to walk around the hotel and see the elephants minding their own business. It is however shocking to see what COVID did to the region, around the golden triangle park everything is still very deserted with a lot of things closed down. Sad to see.

Anantara was the highlight of our trip to Thailand. They really think of everything to make your trip special. The elephants are very well cared for too. Definitely recommend.

The property despite being old is in excellent condition and has a great feel and atmosphere. Awesome views from the rooms and fantastic facilities and activities. Great place to unwind and to wacht the gentle giants. Hope to return soon.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Anantara Golden Triangle Elephant Camp & Resort, and I can confidently say that it was an absolutely exceptional experience from start to finish. This resort deserves every bit of its five-star rating. From the moment I arrived, by an incredible boat trip along the river, It was a dream come true. I was greeted with warmth and genuine hospitality by the staff and elephants. The check-in process was seamless, and I was immediately made to feel like a valued guest with a musical welcome and massage at check-in. The setting of this resort is nothing short of breathtaking. Nestled amidst the lush green hills of the Golden Triangle, the views from the resort are simply stunning. Accommodations at the Anantara Golden Triangle are a true luxury. The room was tastefully decorated with a perfect balance of modern amenities and traditional Thai elements. Dining at the resort was an absolute delight. The various restaurants offered a wide range of culinary experiences, from authentic Thai cuisine to international dishes. Oasis within a jungle. Anantara Golden Triangle is a must stay if you're coming to the Golden Triangle. While the building is a bit dated, it completely fits into the jungle environment and is very well maintained. Of course the highlight is being able to interact with the elephants. The experience with these majestic animals was truly outstanding. We had a chance to learn about the Asian elephants habitat, feed them and walk with them. An evening dinner with the elephants was postcard perfect. The only downside was the gym/fitness facility was too far away to ever get to. But so many bonuses, it's hard to be critical. Spa experience with massage... Amazing! Breakfast & Dinner were 5 star. Rooms are spacious. They could use more drawers for clothes. Internet is free, but a bit slow. Somewhat expected, being so remote. Overall. Very happy with our stay. The staff are incredibly accommodating and they really take such good care of the guests and elephants! Highly recommend.

Excellent! This is not just a hotel but an EXPERIENCE! Beautiful room with breathtaking views, wonderful food, and the staff were the kindest, most accommodating people! Walking with the elephants was incredible, the spa was luxurious, the pool and bar were wonderful. Absolutely 5 star all the way around. We were so sad when it was time to leave!

This was a world class lodging experience in the jungle of Northern Thailand. We had the best experience walking with elephants, going to a local market to buy produce and cook a three course meal, and enjoying their lovely spa. The staff was incredible, from Ton and Moon in the dining room to Nissa, the vet. I can’t recommend this place enough.

Did the all-inclusive explorer package, with a night in the family bubble. The property is great, and the location in the Golden Triangle is perfect. The spa is fair, but the masseuses are rather good. The food dishes were rather good. Walking with the Giants is neat, except for a group of 6 to 10 people with you though. The place has some obvious downfalls and oddities I would not have expected, and you feel it throughout the stay. Most of it was a reflection of poor management and leadership on the property, not a reflection on the person trying to provide the services. The all-inclusive option was a mess. Was a fixed menu with alcohol and premium foods not included. Food service would take hours. There would be no one in a restaurant yet if you didn't raise your hand and try to make things happen, nothing would. They also ran an event one night, causing you to pay for the same food options while closing the restaurant, forcing you to pay for food one of your all-inclusive nights. You would have several different people come to your table immediately after sitting, but somehow multiple times still did not get your drinks. They ask you to show up about 15 minutes before an activity to have a drink. Expect to show up, not be able to get your drink, and then for them to be late with the activity too. There is a new casino. It's rather loud. Don't expect to sleep well in the bubble because of this. It's more quiet in the actual rooms. In general, the bubble was a neat offering, and luxurious, yet I was rather disappointed in the bubble experience. The butler didn't know anything about the elephants except their names and ages. The rooms are fair. There is a massive tub/shower setup. This doesn't drain water perfectly so it creates a funky damp cave smell. Room service behavior was odd. We had to leave notes to refill the mini fridge and stupid stuff like that or they wouldn't do it, which also negates the all-inclusive aspect. I do my best to not drink alcohol. There was kombucha in the mini-fridge, but when I asked for it no one had any idea what it was or that they served it. The front desk called at 10:30 PM, waking us up, to say our checkout time was moved 30 minutes earlier. That would be fine if we were checking out the following day, but we were not, we had days. They could have contacted us at any normal time or next interaction. Upon leaving, the driver arranged by the hotel was 20 minutes late anyway, so it was rather meaningless.

An amazing resort with amazing chef and cuisine. It's one of a kind experience waking up with elephants. The walk with the elephants in the morning is something one should experience. The elephants interestingly love the flowers which you can take in bulk and feed them. You can witness the elephants in the morning having a bath by the lake. The resort has an amazing pool. The views in the morning for sunrise are amazing from the room. The culinary experiences and the food class the chef conducts in the morning is amazing. Don't miss the morning food tour to the local market. The royal Enfield experience is one of a kind which you should not miss out on.

One of the best hotels in Chiangrai. The place is very serene and tranquil and very close to nature. We came in a big group of 11 people with age ranging from 15 to 81 and everyone had a good time. Our package is full board so we really enjoyed the food in the hotel, every dish was perfect and healthy menus were plenty. We went biking and walking with giant. At first my dad (81) was reluctant to join because the walking trip would take around 90 mins but then the concierge offered him if get tired then they could drive a jeep to pick him up which was very nice. Anyway my dad did walking all by himself and he really enjoyed to be in the grassland with the gentle giants and mahouts. My kids loved the night at the bubble so much and they said it’s one of the most memorable trip! Thanks to Khun Tuk and her team. Well done Anantara!!!

Truly one of the most beautiful hotels I’ve ever been to. Very comfortable with amazing service. You can’t walk very easily to anywhere from this location but it’s still close to a lot of shops and food.

What a beautiful resort and incredible experience! The staff are all friendly, kind, and helpful but most important is the proximity to the elephants! Views are amazing and waking up to trumpeting elephants and being able to watch them from your own balcony is just magic.
