Since 2010 to till date, i have visited many different mall roads of Himachal and Utrakhand but Shimla Mall road in total count atleast 8-9 times in different years, always best place for me to visit in any weather summer or winter ,In both. Always entertaining and good place to create new memories. For shopping purpose, meal purpose every brand and outlets are available here.

Visit everyday but still , Shimla Mall has her every different mood on everyday. Just sit beside those benches with a cup of coffee and enjoy the mood of Shimla and the crowd!

First ever Winter Carnival in Shimla

The mall, need i say more. This is the one landmark for which Shimla is world famous. This stretch of almost 1.5 km transcends into european feel as soon as you step feet on it. You can reach The Mall road, via lift in Shimla. The mall allow tourists the view of shimla valley, shimla city and jakhu. The mall is host to world famous Gatey theater, City townhall, fire department, police post, multiple famous shops and cafes. The mall and ridge culmilate at "scandal point". While walking at the mall, tourists get scenic view of sculpted traditional himachali art embossed on the mountain side. Must visit, is what i say.

Probably the best place in Shimla. Lovely trekking experience. You can trek from Mall Road to temple or take cable car ride to temple. But the trekking experience would be really great. Be aware of the monkeys, they may take anything away from you anytime.

A must visit place in Shimla. Don’t miss it. Cab charges around 1000/- from cart road. If you’re self driving roads are quite steep but good and well maintained, take it only if you can drive in thinnest roads in mountains. Parking space is available. Normal queues in temple. A nice place to visit. If you are fit, go for a trek and enjoy the view. There is an escalator facility at the top. The place is neat and clean. But beware of monkeys. Don't carry any food items with you. A monkey bit a child in front of me, so be careful.

Serene and calm place to visit. We did the trek up to this temple and it’s a fairly difficult one. Alternate way is the longer route via vehicle. Well maintained and a clean place. It’s the highest point in Shimla & the 100+ ft huge statue of Lord Hanumanji is visible from almost any part of the city. Don't carry any valuables or baggage to the temple as there are a lot of monkeys in and around the temple; they don't harm you as such.

It's ancient times holy place. As it is Hanuman ji's temple, it has a lot of cute monkeys who want food and love from you. The view is awesome from the top. You should bring channas or breads or bananas etc. with you for monkeys, which make you feel good.

A must visit absolutely peaceful place to visit . Beware of monkeys . To travel uphill there are various modes one of them is you get a government taxi for 20 rs person one way from near McDonald's/ brew estate . It's quiet a climb so do try stairs only if your are habitual to it . Even where the car leaves there is a little climbing from there and that too on unmade stairs . So for elderly it's best to avoid .

It was a great place to visit, especially when there is snowfall, amazing view and vibe. The aura of this place is amazing. And you can access this palace without a cab service there is a pathway directly from Mall road in front of st. Christ Church, it's a bit long but you can save some money on it.

How to Reach : 1. Take Ropeway Approx 500-600 ₹ per person 2. Take a Cab Approx 500 ₹ per Cab 3. Take the staircase. It is said that Lord Hanuman took rest here when HE was on His way to collect Sanjeevani booti for Lakhshmana. The Lord Hanuman statue is around 108 ft tall and can be seen from Shimla Mall Road & The ridge. It is a very serene place. When we reached Aarti was going on and a local woman (probably possessed) was doing the Aarti and at the end Pujari ji sprinkled Jal on her and she was screaming for a while then back to normal. Didn't get time to explore the story behind it due to crowd. Pro Tip : Don't wear Sunglasses/ specs or any other valuable ornaments as monkey gangs are looking for it and they will snatch it and you wouldn't even know. Exchange it for the Prasada/Food 😁 Jay Bajrangbali 🙏

Divine place with lots of history. We went on a Sunday and just missed the Bhandara. It was a little crowded. Cable car ride to temple was worth it even though it's a little expensive. There is an option to walk all the way up, only if you have ample amount of time. Lot's of monkeys around. Make sure you don't carry any food items in plastic bags....the monkeys will snatch it. Also keep your cellphone safe. Be careful while taking pictures.

Shri Hanuman Mandir Jakhoo is located on the top of Jakhoo Hill in Shimla. It is an upclimb from the main road but vehicles reach up easily with some steep routes in between. It is easily navigable via Google Maps. Legend says that Lord Hanuman has taken a halt at this point while returning back taking the Sanjeevani booti with him for Lord Laxman. It is believed the idol came out magically after he left the hill for his journey ahead. It's a beautiful temple and the sunset here is magical. The premises of the temple are well maintained and a small parking lot is also made outside the temple for vehicles. The temple has a lot of monkeys and it is advised to keep your spectacles away while visiting as monkeys tend to snatch them for a barter for food. Due to the presence of monkeys, it's believed that the presence of Lord Hanuman is evident. The temple is also home to 108 foot tall Lord Hanuman statue which is a sight to see. As you enter Shimla, it is clearly visible from afar. The temple premises has a help desk as well for any queries and bhandaras are also organised frequently for the masses. It's an unmissable iconic spot if you're visiting Shimla, highly recommended for your Shimla Trip.

History of the temple After Lakshmana was cured, Hanuman went back to place the mountain in its original site. He rested on top of the Jakhu hill for some time. It was formerly the residence of the British Viceroy of India. Built by British, but used as summer home for Indian President and now a center for advanced studies. You should visit this place in Shimla is very pleasing, alluring and well maintained. A 15 min guided tour inside the Lodge is provided every 30 min. Photography is Prohibited inside the lodge. Guided tour along with access to outer area and botanical garden is charged 100/- for adults and 50/- for kids. If not interested in tour, visitors can pay 30/- for entrance. Recommend to have the guided tour at least once to witness the beauty of this marvellous wooden architecture from inside and know it's history.

The botanical garden is so beautiful. I'm a big gin lover but never saw juniper Berries tree in life, finally I saw here in Botanical Garden Shimla. They have beautiful flowers as well as grass lands. The trees around the building make it look more beautiful. Botanical garden have unique varieties of trees and flowers. The garden in front of building is so beautiful and attractive. I really wanna thanks gardener to maintain it so nicely, I can see their efforts to keep up this botanical garden. Iconic colonial architecture, sprawling gardens, must-visit museum The moment you enter the Viceregal Lodge premises, you could taste a slice of Shimla’s rich colonial history. The building’s architecture captivates you immediately and takes you back in time. The popular botanical garden in the compound has key plant species. And the lawn in front of the building is really pretty. You could also explore the extended parts of the garden by taking staircases climbing down. Important info: Tickets for entering the premises are free. The museum stays busy during weekends.

An exquisite piece of British Architecture in stone and wood. The Stone facades, and the wooden interiors are embellished richly without any room for complaint. There are several artifacts and memorabilia on display too. But only a portion of the ground floor is open to public, and the rest is off-limits. The first floor is entirely for scholars and students.

Mesmerising place. Beautiful monument inside and outside. It has so much of history within itself. So many old photographs and a guided tour which makes the experience more fun and interactive. Inside hall is breathtaking all made up of teak wood.

When we visited there around 3, weather was normal, however as soon as we got the tickets, and we were about to join, rain started with hails and the roads got covered with layers of ice and the day and place got more beautiful. And due to this, we had to wait a lot to see this historical building but it was worth waiting. Now talking about the building, the building architecture is great.

Beautiful place and beautiful garden. You need to shed 30rs per person for garden and outside area. Rs 200 ticket for both inside tour as well as garden area. Which is zero value for money in my opinion. Nothing to show, low maintained area with negligible information. Old valuable item are removed and only some pictures are added in each room to pass your time. You can choose according to your taste. A cafe with snacks and beautiful surroundings is a plus to visit this place.

A beautiful building with well manicured lawns and beautifully kept flower beds. You need a ticket to get in, even to see the grounds! Foreigners the ticket cost Rs500 including a timed tour of the house (you actually DON'T get to see that much). I enjoyed my little trip there and would recommend it!

The place is awesome to visit. If you are staying nearby victory tunnel or Old bus stand shimla, you can directly walk ad visit the place. You cannot get any bus or local vehicle to travel or you have to book a cab which will cost you approx Rs500 from old bus stand shimla. It is about 2.5KMs from victory tunnel. The site opens at 10:30AM and closes at 5PM. We were two people so we were charged Rs 200 for entry and guided tour inside the monument. The view of this place is amazing from outside and inside both. You are not allowed to take photos inside but you can click pictures from outside.

Vehicles can drop visitors at the fire station near this Lodge and go back to parking area below. Entrance tickets are bought at this fire station which is also used as a book stall and snacks area. Washrooms are behind this fire station.

It's a fascinating glimpse into India's colonial history and a must-visit destination for history buffs and nature lovers alike.

Absolutely beautiful garden This is a fantastic walk from Mall Road, that if walking fast, you can get there in about 45 minutes. I would not suggest the walk for anyone that has mobility issues due to the steep inclines at times but man is it absolutely gorgeous the whole entire time. A great place to take dates, or just go to sit and relax in the sun. The building itself is absolutely gorgeous and Fantastic for photos. Plus just 50 rupee (2023) to get in isnt bad.

Great place to visit. Around 15 min of tour inside where you can see evidence of historical events. The outside view is superb. If you're lucky, you can also experience snowfall in winter.

Glad we visited. Beautiful building and nice gardens, with an interesting and important history for India. Only dropped a star because of the odd tour format and not being allowed to take photos inside. Maybe change that, so it's no flash photography as otherwise I do not see the reason for it.

The Rashtrapati Niwas or Viceregal Lodge is such an amazing location to visit. Walkable from parking, have small cafe to eat from, souvenir shops around, great history, guided tour for 100rs and access to gardens and lawns

A must visit if visiting Kufri, with friends or families, everything for everyone over here. Can spend whole day. Lots and lots of activities to do. Has a huge parking area outside. Before entry you will have to buy activities. Which can be bought individually or in package. Buying Package is more feasible. Still quite expensive. As many rides/ activities are very small or half operational. Like Car dash 4cars were only operational. For 12 people 15min wait. Just imagine if 30 people are there then how much time is waisted. Zip line was good experience. Kids will surely enjoy this place. Clean Toilets, eateries inside.

Good place to visit for oneday. Lots of activists, rides and games available like Yak ride, horse ride, Zip lining. We did the horse ride. Nice view from top the hills and beautiful pine forest increased It's beauty. It’s also has traditional costumes and visiting apple garden opportunity.

Games are good and can be enjoyed by all ages. Variety could be more considering package cost, nonetheless enjoyable. Go kart is must do. Food here was good with restaurant having nice valley view. Panjabi cuisine mostly. Parking is ample. Overall fun place for day outing for a family.

Good place to experience adventures. Kufri can be enjoyed when it snows. Good place to have fun with adventure games.You can also go by horses for good experience.Foods available once you reach to the top of the mountain.

Not sure if we felt. But it was really an horrible experience for us. First there was no snow, the time we went. We went in February. The place is heavily commercialised. Leaving very small routes for tourists to go. As we have to pass by those shops. Nothing much in fun activities as well. As these activities are easily available in any resorts in metro cities. One advice for goers. Better buy a pair of snow shoes which cost hardly 300 rupees. Else you will have to pay 200 rent for shoes in the entire Himachal trip. Also it’s not necessary to take a horse ride here. People can trek in the same way as well as it’s not far car parking point. Please for god sake don’t opt for photographer. One is the worst photographers can be found here.

First there was no snow, the time we went. We went in December. The place is heavily commercialized. To reach this point you have to take a horse ride and the route is very pathetic scary and dangerous not for elders or people having disabilities. Nothing much in fun activities as well. As these activities are easily available in any resorts in metro cities.

Nice adventure park, but while buying tickets, they showed many activities and told that you will visit many valleys and more, but in reality there were only 5 activities. And if you want to save yourself from long que then you should visit before 12 pm or in the mornings. On an average it was good experience. Horse riding was good, but always carry a face mask because of so much dust while horse riding. Enjoyed a lot with friends.

This place is a super-scam. We were over- charged at the bottom of the hill & taken on horses to the top from where we had to walk quite a distance to a jeep. There we were made to climb into the back & stand while the jeep took us to the Kufri Fun world. Our bones were all rattled by the time we reached. This is the highest in the world but nothing works here. We had to wait quite some time while they repaired the zip line & those who went ziplining, had to walk back to the starting point, while put off many of us. The rest of the activities were non-functional. Again there was a long uphill climb back to the point where the horses wait to take us down. Shopping is ideal for small woolen articles & cheap shawls. U can click pics on yaks & holding furry bunny rabbits. Avoidable trip if you aren't young

Very beautiful and awesome place at Himachal. There were so many types of activities available for fun. Snow also available at this place. Indore outdoor activities available. Horse riding also available at Kufri. When I go that times winters comes and snow starting. That times atmosphere so cool.

You will be dropped at a point post which you have to get a package 1. Includes horse rise up and down 2. Shoes for snow and mud 3. 3 or 2 adventurr ride complementary. You can do more by paying more amount. Package was 1200 for us. Small adventure rides like zipline and many balancing tasks. Good view of Kurfi

It was a wonderful experience with the horse riding, adventurous activities, having lunch, getting clicked and shopping in Kufri Fun World. There is no such garden as told by the guides. There are apple trees indeed. There is an entry fee, activity fee is add on. Pp it is 1500 currently with entry & 6 activities. Inside the garden you need to walk, if you can't they will offer jeep, which costs 200 pp. Avoid using it.

My visit to Kufri Fun World left much to be desired. The experience fell short of expectations, especially considering the high prices. From attractions to amenities, the overall value did not match the cost. Disappointing and not recommended.

This place is a scam. Do not buy their package which costs up to 10,000 rs. It's really not worth the money. Thankfully, my driver asked me not to buy that. The only thing I spent money on was a horse ride that cost 500/person (and is necessary because of the climb and is total worth) and another 500 for the adventure park entry which includes 2 activities. The view from the top is beautiful though.

Kufri is another tourist attraction closer to Shimla, nearly 16km away from the initial funworld with horse riding @₹500/per person and other fun enjoyment with other rates. We visited this place on 22nd October'23 via Shimla circular Road and Dhali Bypass and took the horse ride to reach kufri hills and ice skating areas. The time we spent was not enjoyable as clouds accompanying rain dampened our enthusiasm.However we arrived at the apple gardens and hill top to view other hills including Shimla and Narkanda hills. Nag Mata Mandir has been offered our prayer to get blessings. There are other items for the children to sit up on the Chamri Cows with bows and guns.

If you have more time in hand to spend here come at evening or last so that you can relax and have fun spending time. Old historic church and ample of sitting area and taking photos spots there. To visit here you have to come by BIG LIFT. You need to have ticket to go to top. You will find huge line standing near lift on Left side. Avoid this Line and go from Right side Lift. It takes you to the same place. There is a small local market nearby only ,you can shop shawls and sweaters.

One of my friends, who is a history buff, was particularly impressed with the church's rich history. He was thrilled to learn about its evolution over the years and how it has stood the test of time. Overall, the visit to Christ Church was a highlight of our trip to Shimla. Whether you're religious or not, I would highly recommend a visit to this beautiful church. The peaceful atmosphere and stunning architecture is sure to leave a lasting impression.

The square church tower of Christ Church, painted a pale creamy yellow, is one of the Shimla skyline’s most prominent highlights. The church is one of North India’s oldest churches, its cornerstone having been laid in 1844, and the church consecrated in January 1857. Today, Christ Church is part of the Church of North India’s Diocese of Amritsar, and regular services in English and Hindi are held every Sunday. Visitors, however, are allowed into the church, though (of course) you are expected to maintain decorum. Photography is allowed (no videography), but only till before the pews—there are signs to this effect. Also, visitors can enter only up to the last two pews, so it’s not possible to walk along the sides (which have some beautiful stained-glass windows) or up to the altar (also good stained-glass at the back). The walls are lined with many plaques of polished brass, commemorating various people, both British and Indian, who lived and/or died in Shimla and around.

I don’t know to describe the experience that I had here in this church. There was a silence that led me to have a deep self introspection and it was beyond my imagination. I also had a great company with myself so maybe that helped. I will always remember this place so many memories.🫶🏻

Its the best place i have visited so far. The morning scene was fabulous with people doing morning walk and the sun rising. The church opens at 10:00 am . But you can always visit the mall road.

It closes at about 5:30 pm in the evening and we went in the night but it's beauty standing tall among the Queen of Hills was still a sight to behold. Along the boundary while crossing the church at night, one can view the breathtaking skyline of Shimla and surrounding hill stations. They look particularly beautiful at night when the town lights up against the dark sky.

The location is wonderful and the top view of the city from here is fantastic. The snow covered trees and city is the main attraction of the view point. This is a crowded place in peak season. There are lots of small shops and outlets from where you can purchase gifts and food.

I've visited The Ridge in Shimla twice, once in winter and once in summer. Both seasons offer a unique and stunning experience. In winter, the snow-covered scenery is breathtaking and the snowfall adds a magical touch to the already beautiful view. During my summer visit, I was able to see the vibrant night lights of Shimla and the panoramic view of the city from The Ridge was simply stunning. I highly recommend visiting The Ridge and experiencing both seasons for yourself!

I visited the Ridge, Shimla in April during summer visit, I was able to see the vibrant night lights and the panoramic view of the city from the Ridge was simply stunning. I highly recommend visiting the Ridge and experiencing the beauty of the city. You can get some eatables in there and make sure there are monkeys around who can snatch eatables from your hand so make sure you eat by looking around or you can also pack it and keep it inside the bag.

This is a large open space in Shimla which gives you amazing Panaromic views on the whole city and mountains. This place is perfect for a walk in winters and to soak in the winter sun. The Ridge in Shimla is an iconic beauty of the colonial era. The vibes you get is that of an old European architecture represented in the Church, rhe library, the town hall ans it's surrounding area. Even the metal boundary will remind you of the Indo British architecture of past days. But, the moody important thing is that, you will find your own country within these buildings. The Town Hall is the office of the Mayor now. Just beside the Town Hall you will find Ashiana, an awesome restaurant operated by Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation. The food is very good. But the best is the location. They have an open air seating provision on the eastern side too. The evenings are enjoyable on the Ridge.

There are lot to do on The Ridge. People throng here for full here. There are restaurants, snacks shops, juice bars for food. One can do short distance horse riding on the left side of ridge. This leads to Lakkar Bazar for wooden gift items & souvenirs. There are several statues of prominent political leaders of India and Himachal Pradesh all around The Ridge. There is Christ Church and a Library on the right side of The Ridge. An artificial water fall with colorful lights in the evening behind Mahatma Gandhi statue attracts lots of people. The open space on The Ridge makes it suitable for social gatherings and political meetings and rallies. One can see the beautifully illuminated Lord Hanuman statue on the Jakhoo Hill Temple. It is the most frequented place in Shimla.

Nice place to walk and have some quality time, but the things available there will be overpriced and the cameramen ready to take your photos who will try to lure you for photos in my personal opinion its better to avoid them as in our case our photo prints were really bad and it felt like the money got wasted in the name of memories, the view from the ridge is amazing as you can see the huge mountain range and the beautiful christ church hence a must visit for your shimla must visit places.

The famous ridge is a mind blowing place to sit walk or spending time..the best time in the day to visit there is Eve time..the place is fulfilled with British architecture and cafeteria.must recommending place in shimla.

This Scottish styled building completed in 1888 is an absolute gem. Wooden work inside is quite underrated.View from the lawn is picturesque. Photography inside the building is not allowed. One has to park the vehicle on the gate and then walk for 400 metres. But there is one more option, One can drop the passengers inside and then park the vehicle outside. Ticket is 100 rs per person which includes a guided tour inside the building of half an hour. Overall, Best place in Shimla to experience in my opinion.

The gardens and architecture are absolutely beautiful! A great way to spend a wonderful afternoon in Shimla by just walking around the Institute and sitting in the gardens enjoying the peacefulness. It’s mandatory to buy a pass to enter, and you can also take the guided tour if you’d like to learn more about the Institute!

Detailed Review This place was famous earlier for the Shimla pact as the Shimla pact and few other meetings have taken place here and also it was used as Summer Capital of India by Britishers. Now this campus is used by scholars who have 'completed' their PhD and look for further research in the field of Political science,etc. Other than this, there is a little section where public is allowed to roam and it is museum full of pictures(pictures were not allowed) of Shimla pact and leaders and also Shimla city around 19th and early 20th Century.. There is 200rs ticket for the entry in this premise.. Parking is also available. If you are on Mall road shimla, then you can go down middle bazar and take a taxi(20 bucks) or you can just walk for 3km.. Caution: 1. This institution is closed on Monday. 2. Taxi service from Shimla is closed on Sundays.

Excellent Historical place and a Must do when in Shimla. We were told by the Official guide that the partition was decided in this place. Some excellent historical pictures of Leaders of those times are there for public to view. Moreover it is very well maintained monument.

Made in Scottish style over a hill top the place certainly has a charm of modern era. Fabulous architecture and the splendid wood work.The construction was started in 1884 and was completed by 1888 by Britishers and was summer capital of British India. From 1888 till 1947 many British Viceroy lived here the first lord Dufferin and last was lord Mount Batten. Now this is Indian institute of advance studies.

It is truly a gem in the crown of Shimla and not just due to its grand demeanor but also due to the rich history it carries. The place was initially built as a residence for the viceroys during the British rule and hence was called the Viceregal lodge. Post independence it was the summer residence of our honorable president and was called 'Rashtrapati Niwas'. Dr. S. Radhakrishnan decided that one Rashtrapati bhawan was more than enough and converted it into an academic institution. The architecture here is marvellous and will leave you spellbound. The whole compound is mammoth- together with the main building and the lawn. It is situated on observatory hill. This is the first building in shimla to have electricity and has a very efficient rainwater harvesting system as well. Currently the institute offers fellowship programs in humanities, social sciences and life sciences. This marvel is open to public through Tuesday to Sunday at a nominal ticket fee of ₹40 for Indians and ₹85 for foreigners. This includes a guided tour of some section of the huge place and you get to revisit the historic events here - even the decision to part india and pakistan! The fact that the building had electricity generated by steam engine driven generators blew my mind! A must visit place if you're coming to Shimla!

Its an amazing old place with Scottish design.. Really maintained with trees, greenery and all.. nice view to the mountains and also it is situated in Shimla town itself! If you are a person who loves history, old antique buildings, then i suggest it is a must go place! If you have some time to spend, it will be really good to sit over there, chit chat with friends or family inhaling good and pure oxygen which makes you feel relief and also makes one energetic.. There are also varieties of trees, trees with flowers and so on.. Even kids to the aged will love the ambience.. It is situated on top of a hill so that you feel like being on a high altitude place and also that gives the best view! I think you can reach there only by road, and it is the easiest with nice and maintained roads🤗

This place is now open for public visits. The guided tour costs 200 per person. While there is a lot of pictures to see inside, they will keep pushing to other rooms without giving enough time to see each exhibit. Only 3 rooms are open for visit since other Rooms are occupied by scholars. The garden is beautiful and good to see

Very nice place and must visit place in Shimla. This place tells about Britishers life style, their ruling capabilities, their administration. Huge garden area , many types of flowers and plants available here. There is guide available and they will accurately describe the history of this institute. Ample parking space available and canteen is also available. Very nice place to spend good time with family. Open on Sunday too,but closed on Mondays so plan your trip accordingly.

An institute made by the British for research in humanity and social science. It has a very big lawn and sports complex that are well maintained .you can hire a taxi to reach there

It's amazing! We stayed 5 nights at Shimla with my family at 2 separate resort with nice locations. We enjoyed the amazing beauty of mountains so much. We felt bad while returning.

Green Valley is one of the most beautiful places in Shimla! It is noted for it’s elite beauty. The place is ideal for photography as it offers some of the most mesmerising sights that nature has to offer. There is no entry fee for this area. There are a-lot of stops to eat roadside snacks, look at monkeys (be careful of them) and also sit and travel on yaks and horses Shimla Water Catchment Wildlife Sanctuary which is in green valley or rather over looks green valley has a small entry fee. We paid around Rs. 500 for 3 people (150 per person and Rs. 50 car park). You can even rent a cycle. The path is a little uneven and there are hardly any railings along the way so only cycle if your confident. It takes about 3-4 hours (approx 7 km) to cover the sanctuary. It’s recommended to go in the morning for bird watching. There are alot of scenic views and if your worried about completing the trail, there are sufficient benches and pit stops along the way, so definitely visit this place! I went there with my parents and we were able to complete the trail . Green Valley lies on National Highway 22 on the way to Kufri from Shimla. Its 8km from Shimla Old Bus Stand and 7.5 km from Kufri. Super accessible and a popular point to visit!

Valley spreded and covered with unique Deodar / pine trees. Its a very beautiful scene to see if you go on top of hill. Its on high altitude again and its quite off road so use mule riding for trek on uphill. Its a very beautiful and calm sceneary you will might be miss. Yak is uniques animal you can see at this place and you can also click photos with him.

Avoid going to this place. Agents will.push you but there is not much to see. There is apple garden which should be visited after May as apple starts blooming by then. For sightseeing, the transportation is by horse which is chargeable at rs.500 per head and while on the way top, you need to pay rs.20 per head which the agents will not inform you. All the sight is blocked by local reaident and one has to pay fees to access the sight. There is 2 temple and local market with ample of food joints(tents)

There is nothing special, just a view of mountains covered with forest.. This is the reason they called it green Valley view point. People stand with there binoculars, few more was there with some traditional dresses and camera. Best part for me was there is a trekking trail just beneath the road or the point. Some people was having nature walk on it.

Absolutely waste of time to visit here if you're visiting Shimla. Not recommended at all. See the attached pics for yourself. One can find much better view of hills in few kms drive from Green Valley towards Kufri.

This place has significantly deteriorated over the past few years. The once-lush green gardens have withered away, leaving behind a barren landscape with lot of chai and Maggi stalls. commercialised enough, seems like you are in Mela. The only redeeming feature is the exciting rides, which still attract visitors. However, the horse riding experience has become a major concern, as the horses are unpredictable and have caused numerous injuries to people along the path. Overall, you can have valley view from the roadside, it's not required to take horse riding and pay 500 just to see barren landscape.

It's a place to visit for peace. You will find a location with a great view. There are mountains with devdhar trees which look so cool and give a freshness to your eyes. We stay at least for 1 hour at that location.

Green velly was amazing place. Mountain view seen everywhere. Many people come here and enjoy. Many activities available here like horse riding,zip line, tracking etc. There environment is green and the wind are cool.

The Green valley is a beautiful mountain range, falling on the wa to Kufri from Shimla. The valley is God's gift to the beautiful city of Shimla. The greenery and beauty of the place are mesmerising and makes you forget everything else.

Nice view of Green valley. Since you get to see the forest from road side. Better get some pics clicked and don't get trapped in buying Kesar or sheelajeet which they start showing while you view the valley, to get at a less price.

It is on the route from Shimla to Kufri. You can see it from the road side . No dedicated space nor dedicated parking . Very risky as everyone trying to get pics at the same time you have to watch for vehicles on the road and your footsteps. Some local stalls for snacks but no authorised space. It is better to avoid as it can be very risky

Way back to Shimla from kufri we visited this place popularly known as 'Green Valley' on Kufri Bypass/ Kufri -Chail Highway, way to Chail Forest and a cricket ground with other Chail Palace and other colonial houses. However we enjoyed the lush green deodar, pine forestry among many verdant hills with its elevation about 2200mtrs all-around till to its base.There is a tranquillity and pristine beauty that are a blissful gift by this nature.

It's a breathtaking roadside attraction. Keep in mind, it's usually very crowded and since it's beside a highway, vehicles are always passing both ways, making it a bit unsafe to take pictures.

Great place. Our tour guide was quite experienced and gave us a lot of information about life in the summer capital of British India and the theatre itself. The restored structure is beautiful and kudos to the team who did such a fantastic job of breathing life back into the place. Worth visiting.

Dating its history back to 122 years, the Gaiety Heritage Cultural Complex in Shimla was designed by a renowned British Indian architect, Henry Irwin. Initially, it was a five-story building with a ballroom, a police office, an armoury, a theatre, a bar and galleries. However, after two decades of its construction, the structures were found to be extremely unsafe and unstable. Although most of the parts were demolished, the Gothic-styled theatre remained untouched. Later, the renovation added the art gallery, the theatre, the multi-purpose hall, the museum and the exhibition hall to the existing complex. Gaiety Theatre is the pride not only of Shimla but of Himachal. This building was designed by Henry Irwin and completed in 1888. The first play filmed in this theater was "Time Will Tell". Whenever someone comes to visit Shimla, Gaiety Theatre Don't forget to visit the art gallery.

Heritage building located in the middle of Mall Road. It still houses the Dramatics society, a police office and restaurants. The exteriors have seen some restoration work being done over the last few years, as a result of which it looks even more stunning now. Gorgeous with some great street views of the mall, good food and snacks as well plus outdoor seating where one can enjoy all this and some beer. Entry however is restricted. Can't walk off the road inside.. You need to be a member or be a guest of a member, similar rules to say a gymkhana in Delhi, including dress codes too although that is more relaxed than some of its counterparts. Becoming a member means a huge waiting line. It might be smaller than clubs in Delhi or other cities but same stress on demand of membership.

This is the best place of shimla to visit..you can spend whole day there for seeing a single view..evening time view is so sweet.church timing is 11am to 5 pm. So go there before 5pm then 1st view the church then enjoy the evening time there..

This theatre is a historic building with a rich cultural and architectural heritage. It will give you a glimpse of British Raj. There are different halls related to paintings, sculptures and old photographs.

Designed by Henry Irwin and inaugurated in 1887, the Gaiety Theatre (or Gaiety Heritage Cultural Complex, as it is now known as) was the focal point of Shimla’s cultural life during the days of the British Raj, with productions by leading theatre troupes being staged here. Later still, this theatre (which, even back then, spread across several buildings, including one which housed the police department) played host to famous personalities of the Indian theatre and film industry, such as Prithviraj Kapoor and KL Saigal. The Heritage Cultural Complex was recently renovated and restored, and today hosts various cultural performances, ranging from theatre to magic shows. Besides the theatre, the building houses other spaces that are used for other cultural activities. We could not fit a performance into our itinerary, but we saw an interesting exhibition on the conservation of indigenous Himachali architecture.

Gaiety complex is neat and clean place .Featuring a Gothic style of architecture, the Gaiety Heritage Cultural Complex lets you re-visit the history with its awe-inspiring heritage building. It has large glass windows and Victorian style doors. The interior space is quite well-maintained and has been cleverly utilised for displaying the sculptures and paintings.

Gaiety theatre is one of the oldest buildings in Shimla built during British rule. It is said that legends have performed here. It is an example of gothic style of architecture. It is a beautiful building.

This is the army golf course. You can see it from outside. Your not allowed on the course. There is also a helipad there. It’s very beautiful looking. You get a beautiful view of the course from the army heritage museum

Annadale was first used by East India Company and then by Britishers, therefore it is also known as Company ka Baag by the natives that live around the place. It was a place for entertainment for the British such as dress shows, picnics. At present the ground is being used by the Indian Army for disaster management purposes. It is also being served as the Helipad for VVIP. It has a golf course for sports activity.

40 minutes walking distance from Victoria Tunnel.. if you don't get a bus you reached here by walking.

Beautiful lush green Golf Course with a helipad adjacent to it. Military museum was also very good. Glass house has very different varieties of Cactus. Garden and lawns are picturesque. The Road towards Annadale is smooth and full of high Devdar trees. Must visit for everybody.

Very beautiful course and it's on prime location of shimla but this course belongs to Indian army and no one is allowed to enter this course. This is golf course of Indian army and also a helipad in it . There is also a army museum by course side and tourists can also visit the museum . It is located approximately 3km away from The Mall shimla. Tourist can reach here by HRTC bus or HRTC taxi or by private cab.

Mesmerising beauty it is. It's an army headquarter which has a golf course which happens to be the Annadale ground. Visitors are most probably not allowed roaming on the ground but you have an amazing museum to visit which showcases mind boggling indian defence forces facts and feats. One can also buy army souvenirs like pen and utensils. One other thing that adds to the experience is the trekking. Yes you have to trek down 2-3 km to reach this ground. Of course one can use taxi and own vehicle but where is the fun in that.

We received a great hospitality from the people here. Having reached post the usual lunch time been drenched in the tumultuous rain, the staff immediately arranged for our lunch and served us with hot meals. The rooms are good except for the stairs though. Hot water is available, though a common one. For reservation, one has to email. The temples and view are also great.

Beautiful and old temple located between AG office and Scandal point side of the mall road. 5 minute uphill walk but a steep one can be challenging for eldert. Wasn't crowded when we went around 10am. Beautiful Valley views from the top. One can buy prasada, flowers and chunni etc from the shops adjacent to the temple. Place is peaceful and full of spiritual vibrations.

Temple dedicated to godess Kali. The temple is located at beautiful location with amazing views. This place is very peaceful. One have to be careful of the monkeys which are a nuisance and attack people.

Well what can you say. Temples are the place where you can visit to find some peace. And to be honest the way this temple is situated in a high place with the views of the city and mountains will give you goosebumps. Please be aware that there are a lot of monkeys here please be careful with your belongings and children.

The overall atmosphere is truly spiritual and rejuvenating. It is a must visit place in Shimla. Every day visitors worship Goddess Kali here. As the temple is slightly uphill, one has to go up to get there. So elderly people may suffer a little. Upon entering the compound you will automatically find peace and truly enjoy the tranquility in the middle of the city. The view of the city from the temple premises is very beautiful.

I had an absolutely mesmerizing experience visiting this place in Jan'2022. It had snowed heavily and the whole route was snowed completely. Just towards the end their is a downward slope and walking on that with snow around was quite challenging but a great experience to have. We had a toddler along for whom we had taken a Pram, taking it through snow was challenging. The Temple is quite small. The Pandit Ji did Pooja for two of our kids and blessed us with Kali Mata's love. Would love to visit this place again on my next visit.

Shimla Kali Bari or Shimla Kali Temple is nestled in the Shimla Mall, just a fifteen minutes walking distance from our hotel in Shimla! A devotional place that is steeped in history and culture. During our brief stay in Shimla we visited the spot and offered pujas to Maa Kali. We've also reveled in Durga Puja. As the priest told us, this place is having a two hundred years' history which is as fascinating as the history of Shimla itself! A Bengali community first started the pujas and that eventually became an integral part of their culture! Talking about melting pot, Shimla! So if you happen to be in Shimla, do consider visiting this place. Strongly recommended.

The Kali Bari Temple of Shimla is a very old Hindu temple situated on Bantony Hill, Shimla. The Temple is over 200 years old and is a very popular tourist spot. It is said that it is dedicated to Goddess Kali who is worshipped as Goddess Shyamala after which the Shimla city is named. The goddess is believed to have existed near Jakhoo. Ram Charan Brahmachari was a Bengali Brahmin who set up the Temple in 1823 in the vicinity of Rothney Castle near the famous Hanuman Temple of Jakoo. Later the Britishers shifted it from Jakoo to its present location at Bantony Hills. It resembles the Dakshineswar Kali Temple in Kolkata. It is one of the ancient temples of the city and features a unique Hindu-style architecture along with blue coloured wooden idol of goddess Kali. The temple trust formed in 1902 mainly consists of Bengali members. The Temple has also recently started conducting Durga Pujo. Guests can also book there stay with the Temple guest house on a pre booking basis. There are a lot of monkeys on the temple area so beware of your belongings.

Sumit and his team looked after my wife and I when we visited Shimla in 2017. My wife’s mother went to school in Shimla in the 1920/30s and Sumit organised a superb, private trip to the school for my wife. In addition, the walks and trips were fantastic and we were accompanied by local, knowledgeable guides. Highly recommended if you are fortunate enough to find yourself in wonderful Shimla.

April 2024. Rajat took us on a heritage walk around Shimla, visiting all the sights and pointing out areas of interest, historical information and stories along the way, that brought Shimla alive. Rajat also shared a few of the local treks, of varying sizes and interests and we plumped on the Shali Trek. What a fantastic experience, what a guide and what a view!! WOW! An interesting trek through forests and crags before the surprise view at the top and paying our respects at the temple. Helpful, interesting , informative and Rajat knew the mountain very well. My name is Clare Penny . We visited Shimla in September 2022 for one main reason ; to trace my mother’s roots .My mother was born there in 1930 , the seventh child of ten children born to Anglo-Indian parents . My grandfather worked for the Press department attached to the ruling British Government , based at Viceregal Lodge , at that time . Owing to Independence and Partition of India in 1947, my mother’s family felt they had little option to remain in India and therefore left en masse to settle in the UK and in Australia . From the moment we met Sumit our guide until we left 3 days later, we were in amazing knowledgeable hands . Sumit showed us all the places that meant so much to my mother and her family; the Ridge, the bazaar, the Gaiety Theatre , Scandal Point, Viceregal Lodge and many other places that they spoke about. I came armed with the sketchiest of information about the family’s years in Shimla and had just one contact who I had never met or spoken to but who could , I was assured , point us to the right places the family had lived and worshipped. Within a few hours Sumit had found our contact , as he knew him! Things then moved very swiftly and the house where the family grew up , the school they went to and the church they worshipped at were all located . I must point out that other members of my family have come to Shimla to trace their roots and have not been able to find these places. Seeing the house my mum grew up in was a surreal experience, one I will never forget. The lady occupier of the house came out, had a dialogue with Sumit and before long we were invited in to look around ,and , to our surprise, we found it largely unchanged since my mum’s time . It was a very special experience . Our contact in Shimla was connected to the Catholic Church where the whole family worshipped in the 1920s up until they left in the 1950s onwards . Again with Sumit’s help we were able to find the baptismal records of not only my mother, but some of her siblings too, including one brother who died. This was another surreal moment . I had one other reason to visit Shimla ; I had brought my late mother’s ashes with me to leave in Simla . Again, with Sumit’s invaluable help, we located the cemetery of some family ancestors . Sumit fought the tall weeds covering the graves with the rest of us, trying to locate a particular grave . Eventually we found it and the next day we were able to have a simple and personal ceremony to lay my mother’s ashes in the place of her birth . I always told people that my mother left Shimla but Shimla never left my mother . She spoke about Shimla with love and longing until it became akin to hearing about a legend or a fairytale passed down through the generations . I was so happy to have finally come to Shimla and found it to be exactly how it was described ; stunning, beautiful , historic and indeed quite legendary . I cannot thank our guide Sumit enough; without his help we would have never had had the experience we had

A very beautiful and divine place of Shimla city. Jahku temple is located in the highest peak of Shimla and is accessible either by road or by ropeway. Taxi can be hired from the ridge or even from the bus stand and they charge you approx 600rs from ridge to temple and back. It's a very quite place but beware of monkeys as they snatch your belongings and other stuff. Just don't look into their eyes. Watch out my pics for more.

I recently visited Jakhu Hill and was thoroughly impressed with the beauty of the place. The weather was perfect and the view from the top of the hill was breathtaking. I could see the entire city of Shimla from the top and it was an incredible experience. The fresh air and peaceful atmosphere made for a perfect escape from the busy city life. Jakhu Hill also has a temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman, which is a popular pilgrimage site for Hindu devotees. According to legend, Lord Hanuman rested on this hill after his journey from the Himalayas with the Sanjeevani herb. It is said that the imprints of Lord Hanuman's feet are still visible at the temple and are considered to be sacred by many.

Very Nice place, we visited on April first week. The climate was awesome. We walked to this temple from the old bus station Shimla. It was like a small hike took about an hour to reach the top. The view from the hill and the midways were so adorable ♥️😍. We really enjoyed every single steps. There are paid vehicle services also there to the top, but I would recommend you to go by Walk. Definitely you will enjoy unless you are not disabled person. There is a small cable Car was there on the top. That’s a very small length of cable car the price is about 500INR on the Time i was there. The temple also provides very tasty 😋 meal for devotees. Definitely you will enjoy the Nature and peace ✌️ #should go

This is seriously a beautiful place to visit. The view from the top is so serene and beautiful. Every spot at this place is Insta worthy seriously. From dhaba to an amazing restaurant (Cafe Under Tree) you will get everything. There is a lot of place to sit and enjoy the view. Be careful of the monkeys although they didn't bug us much, but we saw two incidents where they went after food and sorta scared the people. Please don't litter around here. As, the monkeys tend to pick it up and spread it more. Apart from monkeys nothing will stop you from enjoying the view and on a cold winter day luckily we got the sun and it was seriously mesmerizing and warming. We would love to visit again. ❤️

Jakhu hill is known for the temple of Lord Hanuman. Inaugurated in year 2010, the statue of Lord Hanuman can be seen from anywhere in Shimla. The temple is located at the height of 8050 ft. There are 3 ways of reaching the temple, first on foot(quite a height to climb) second by taking a taxi (easiest) and third is by ropeway (costlier and quicker). The view from the hilltop is simply mesmerizing. Go there when in Shimla.

Very well maintained. Very clean and calm environment. You will definitely like it. Many posters, symbols, flags are displayed to showcase history. No entry ticket is needed. Just bring your ID card for entry. Small canteen is also there which is well maintained. If you are visiting shimla then worth visiting this place.

Tanks, guns, swords, uniforms, different regiments, achievement. It's an honor. The place is very very big. There are different compartments/rooms, each room has multiple openings inside that leads to another. So many things to watch. Right in the middle of nature and forest, this army museum is so peaceful and treat to watch. There is washroom, canteen, plant🌱 nursuery and children's park as well inside. Back side of the museum has a big ground where only people from defense is allowed to enter. The ground is used to play Polo and football. 5 stars⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The place is really great, the plantations were awesome. Has a good display of everything of the army ranging from weapons to uniforms. They had a souvenir shop. In house cafe serving coffee, cream rolls and other delicacies at reasonable price. They also had a golf court. The place was really good and informative. There is no entry fee and one can take pictures as well.

We have visited this place, and it feels amazing with the views and atmosphere. There are about three to four rooms in the museum of Indian forces, their style, uniforms, arms, and many more. There is a shop where you may get some items that belong to the army as tokens. There is one small botanical garden with various plants.

A well maintained museum with good information... No ticket required..... War machines like cannon, tanks, guns and many more are there.... Also visit the nursery with a very good collection of cactus..... Also can enjoy the breeze with tea/coffee minimal snacks... A very good informative place for kids....

Our visit to the army museum was absolutely amazing .We were completely fascinated by the exhibits, each one more interesting than the last. We left feeling inspired and grateful for the opportunity to learn about the brave men and women who have served our country.

Absolutely loved visiting the Army Museum in Annadale. We trekked down from the Kali Bari temple for about an hour (it is a bit hectic but totally worth it for the views), and returned to the Mall Road lift by an Ola Cab! (pickup right in front of the musuem gate). Google still says that it temporarily closed because of covid but it is OPEN as of 28 March 2022. Note that the army museum remains closed on Monday.

Army Heritage Museum is a well maintained museum with good information. War machines like cannons, tanks, guns are in this museum. There is a nursery with a very good collection of cactus. You must visit this beautiful place with your children, let them know how our heroes sacrificed their lives for us. The beautiful and clean place surrounded by cedar trees will impress you. You can find all details of armed forces, battles, uniforms, equipment and soldier ranks. It's free, but you need a valid photo ID to enter the museum There is also a golf course next to this museum. Army Heritage Museum is one of the most preferred places to visit in Annandale, Shimla. This place is dedicated to the Indian Army. It is open from 10 am to 2 pm and 3 pm to 5 pm every day except Monday.

It was a very immersive experience. The army staff there is very hospitable and will go out of their way to explain all that you want to know. They have Multiple VR interactions to help you experience the different wars that our country has faced. You can practice firing guns at a target and virtually experience what the bunker looks like on the inside. The details on army insignias etc is fascinating. Make it a part of your Shimla travels without fail! You won’t regret it!

Entry fee is Rs 50 for Indians. Himachal Pradesh state Measum is a good place for those who like rock art and outfit of Himachal, although there is not a lot of stuff here but there is a little thing which is good enough. Some things like Himachali Miniature Paintings, Sculptures here that can be seen quite a good glimpse, the rest of the campus here is also very beautiful in which a beautiful statue of Buddha touches the ground and more sculptures are placed around it. However, the building which is there is not very high and is like a maze in which one can easily move from one section to another.

A good place to visit. Has many sections. Kids wont find it interesting except few sections. There is a nice garden to sit. You can cover this with other places in a one day tour. Dont plan to walk come by vehicle. This place is for people who have interest in history and archaeology. There is a separate fees if u want to take pictures with mobile. We went in month of July

Open from 10am to 5pm. Stays closed on Mondays and government holidays. Entry ticket Rs. 50/person. If you want to take pics/videos inside, extra Rs. 100. It will easily take an hour for you to visit the entire place. So many things to see inside, old coins, currencies 💰, stones, pots, sculptures, idols, paintings, models, India🇮🇳 defense, and a lot more. There is a canteen below Ticket counter, and shops to buy goodies, books, hats as well. This place is literally a Riddle (BhoolBhulaiya) . You get inside from one room, you get out of another. I really got tired here 🤣🤣 so many things to watch, but it was worth it. Loved it ❤❤

So for timing 10 to 5 . Ticket Cost : rs 50 per person indian, take separate ticket for camera . Take a taxi from mall road to baloganj which costs rs 20 . You're definitely gonna love it from history,stone carvings,coins, traditional clothing, local deity , paintings to archeological finds . It's a wholesome place in itself . It got even seprate space for dolls ,army museum and Gandhi's visit to India . I hope you gonna enjoy this pretty visit. Food : only canteen service

Incredible place... It do contain things from the time of Harappan culture as well as from various centuries . Miniature paintings and painting section is just awesome. I recommend all to visit this place at least once for sure.

One of the popular tourist places in shimla, Himachal State Museum protects the history of the northern state and gives you a chance to understand the cultural heritage of a particular time period. It is an ideal base for art lovers and a must-visit spot for experience seekers and connoisseurs. Ticket price for Indian visitor is INR 50.

This will take roughly one hour to see all the three floors. There is decent assortment of items. It's mostly sculptures on the first floor, collections and paintings on the second floor. Third floor is all about military. Photography charges are separate. Ticket for adult was Rs 50. Outside garden is decent and will give you a good view of the city. It's built on a high point on the mountain with very narrow and steep roads. Coming by foot is too tough and steep. Hire a small car to reach here. Parking for your car is available with limited spots.

Great place. bad location. do not go by ur own car. u will be trapped in extreme slant climbing narrow road. better to leave vehicle outside chowk road and walk upto the place. museum has rich collection of many ancient item. i liked the coin section which has wonderful collection of coins from many era..overall a great experience. canteen and toilets are in bad shape.

Very nice. Well maintained and nicely arranged all sculptures. Some ancient sculpture pieces for the period of 1st century to 11th century are preserved there. An excellent gallery of Indian defence is perfectly maintained there to acquire a good knowledge of Indian defence and war history. The location of the museum is excellent but at the top of a peak. It is to be noted that walking is the only way to reach there from the main road. As it is a stiff path so a bit difficult.

The museum was established in 1974 in Inverarm, a house at the top of Inverarm Hill that during the British Raj was the hot season residence of Lord William Beresford (and frequently used for overflowing guests at the Viceroy's house in Shimla, Peterhoff). The collection includes wood carvings, bronzes, archaeological artefacts, coins, jewellery, manuscripts, paintings including many miniatures, postage stamps, and weapons

Well maintained n lots of efforts were made to make it easily accessible , closed on Monday and public holidays.

It's a very nice place and the natural beauty around it makes the place more attractive. The museum has lots of information, artifacts ,images of himachal pradesh. One should take atleast 2 hours time if they actually want to know facts. They have places to sit outside, washrooms also.

The Himachal State Museum is located at the peak of Mount Pleasant in a villa called Inverarm. It houses cultural, artistic and archaeological heritage artefacts, in addition to historical sculptures and paintings from across the state. Founded in 1974, the museum also houses a great collection of Mughal, Rajasthani and contemporary paintings along with Pahari miniatures. Tourists can see several artefacts made of bronze, and philatelic and anthropological exhibits at the museum. The museum displays Gupta sculptures and some of the finest exhibits include the stone images of Masrur and Kullu masks. The library houses a good collection of historical books and manuscripts. Lying a stone's throw from Scandal Point, it can be visited between 10 am and 5 pm. It remains closed on Mondays and official holidays.
