Very nice visit at the Texas Capitol. I arrived just in time for the start of a (free) guided tour inside the building. The guide was very competent as he explained the history of the Capitol (and, consequently, of Texas itself). We were able to enter the Senate and, after the guided tour, to roam around freely to see every detail that we might have missed. I recommend the visit if you are in Austin!

As a professional photographer I've shot weddings and elopements at the Capitol building many times and I can say it's a perfect location for a small wedding. The beautifully well-maintained grounds combined with classic architecture provides the perfect backdrop for couples portraits. Free parking on Sundays is a plus!

It has beautiful walking trails amongst tall trees, there is a parking garage nearby and the inside is magnificent! Stunning motifs, architecture and paintings. A must see if you are a resident, but also a nice tourist spot, they have tours from the visitor center in the white building next door and two gift shops one inside the capital and one inside the visitor center.

Just Amazing. If you want to know about Texas History or just want to take in everything Texan, this is the right spot for you. It’s the embodiment of everything Texan. Right from the entrance to the Gift shop, everything is so beautifully designed. The staff and government officials are amazing and courteous to answer all the questions I had. They even let you go into the state house and senate which is great!

I highly recommend visiting the Texas State Capitol building in Austin. Built in 1885 by architect Elijah E. Myers, it's an impressive structure and the 6th tallest state capitol building. The surrounding area is adorned with beautiful statues and monuments, perfect for exploration. The capitol tour is free. The sad part is every time I went to visit the Texas capitol building, either it was after hours or the building was closed for renovation or Covid; so I couldn't get the chance to do the capitol tours. Another thing I want to mention is if you want to take pictures standing in front of the capitol building from the front lawn, the building is almost covered with trees, and only the top part is shown from the lawn. Consider photographing from the corners for a full building view. And now since the construction is going on, it is difficult to capture the perfect photo. There's a nearby parking lot offering free parking for 2 hours on weekdays, but be aware of charges on weekends or special events. You can also do street parking. Overall, a must-visit in Austin!

Visiting Austin from UK, we took a look around and loved walking around and seeing the history of this place. It's on a few floors, being able to see from the ground floor up and also looking down from upper galleries, different wings with different rooms all off the main dome central, which is the main beauty of this place, however the large grand side rooms are where the history is made. Everything from the brass elevator doors, to the beautiful inscribed hinges of the large doors is wonderful to admire. Well worth a good 1-2hr visit here.

It was marvellous! It was a great visit and it was very educational. Very well maintained, and every corner speaks history. You should visit it If you are in Austin. You will learn a lot about so many events through out the paintings, guide tour and information boards.

I give the Texas State Capital building in Austin five stars. Texas taxpayers spent a LOT of money on this building, and it turned out so classy. The finest materials were used and it looks like the designers spent thousands of hours getting every little detail perfect. I highly recommend stopping here to see for yourself.

Interesting and beautiful working building which houses Texas law makers. You are able to visit the building but I guess there could be restrictions at some dates, tours are taking place all the time which you can easily join and last about 20 to 30 minutes.

The Texas Capitol in Austin is super cool! It's like a giant castle with a huge dome on top. Inside, there are big rooms where important people make decisions for the state. They even have tours where they show you around and tell you fun facts. It's definitely worth checking out if you're ever in Austin!

Unfortunately lot of construction work going on when I was there night to again. Huge park area in front of the building with historic information. The congress Avenue is exactly opposite to the building and looks fantastic from the street.

The architecture is absolutely stunning. It is also nice to watch the meetings in the house and senate live. Do not forget to take a look at the gift store underground, they have some pretty Christmas ornaments.

Visitor friendly amenities, with a 30-minute free guided tour of the building is the highlight! My guide, Austin (!) was cheerful, friendly & enthusiastic throughout the tour.... we saw the senate & house chambers, all the governors/ presidents of this great state, as well as the architectural marvel that this building is... with it's dome being taller than the US capitol in DC! The lone star at the top of the dome is 218 feet high from ground! Impressive all around! And very very historic too!!!

Texas Capitol allows you to enter inside the building with strict security check up. Inside the building, we can see all the governors photos up to the date. Further, we can see the actual assembly hall and speaker of the house chair as well. I heard if you visit in meetings hours you can actually see the ongoing meeting.

A very beautiful building! We have visited several times, and each time we find a new nuance. It is so pivotal to have young children visit this place! Remember, everything is bigger in Texas, referencing that this is the largest state capital building in the US. You simply must visit our state capital in Texas!

Looks cool from the outside, but that's about it. Inside is genuinely ugly, and there's nothing to do in there except look at the beige walls or struggle to hear the tour guide due to the ridiculous amount of echo.

Nice meeting spot, and iconic location of the largest Mexican free tail bat colony in North America. See them fly at dusk at the southeast end of the bridge, below looking up when nightly guides of kayak and boat tours shine their red lights to see the flying bats. The Ann Richard bridge, also known as the bat bridge in Austin Texas, is a great place to people and bar watch. When you walk under during the day you can hear them chirping, and then they take off in the evening. Cool painting by the observation deck.

Fun little place to see the Congress Bridge from below. You can definitely tell bats live there by the interesting smell as you approach.

Very enjoyable afternoon learning about LBJ and Lady Bird. It was nice to spend an afternoon in the air conditioning rather than out in the heat of the day. I wish they would have had easier access to bathroom, had to trek my little one up and down the stairs three times. Highly recommend. Also we just happened to go on a Tuesday and got 50% off admission.

I recently explored the LBJ Presidential Library after it has an extensive renovation but this visit was to see the Music America: Iconic Objects from America's Music History temporary exhibit. They have a dedicated parking lot but it was full and decided to park in the next one dedicated to the University of Texas. It was a Saturday so I am sure they did not mind. The building itself is very impressive and always enjoy visiting this place ever since my parents brought me here when I was a small child. On this day there was a lot of of people visiting where I believe may have been eclipse tourists in town finding things to do in Austin while they wait for Monday. The Music America exhibit was definitely soothing to see and recommend it. The rest of the museum takes you back in time when Lyndon Baines Johnson was president and ran the show in times when a lot was happing in America. They have lots of timelines with historical events. Make sure to ride the elevator to the 10th floor where find a replica of the Oval Office, Lady Bird's office and collection. The grounds are also spectacular with nice views of the UT campus and Tower.

Very impressed. The Lady Bird section was wonderful, did not know she funded his first campaigns and took over his congressional office when he was serving overseas, or that she was a journalist who bought a radio station, or all her contributions including towards Head Start. He was ok too. The display on Gulf of Tonkin was incomplete, at best. But his accomplishments are many, from Civil Rights to Medicare and Medicaid. Also, the pop culture references were fun. Highly recommend if you find presidential and American history interesting.

If you are in Austin, this is one landmark you should not miss...whether or not you were a fan of LBJ, you will be impressed by the legislation that was passed during his term as President. Unlike most other Presidents, he was able to work across the aisle so that Republicans and Democrats could agree on laws that would make life better for Americans.

A comprehensive museum about LBJ’s life and his term as President. There were some interactive exhibits about the Vietnam war too. My favorite was the Oval Office at the top floor. One of the guides told us that Lady Bird Johnson worked in this very museum well into her 90s.

What a wonderful place, learned so much about that period of US history and LBJ and his wife’s accomplishments, which took place before I was born. Really enjoyed my visit.

A fitting and beautiful tribute to LBJ. Situated nicely on the campus of UT, parking is easy to find, and admission is affordable. Experience the highs and lows of LBJ's Presidency, life in politics, and personal life. Truly worth your time.

As a museum lover, I truly enjoyed the LBJ Presidential Library. The exhibits and tributes to Lady Bird with the walk through the times of LBJ, it was all very well put together. The building itself is massive when you walk up to it and is a grand sight. I recommend this experience while in Austin.

Great museum. I really enjoyed all the exhibits. I definitely recommend for history buffs. There is only one request — please add President Obama and First Lady Michelle’s picture to the “Past/Former President exhibit. It’s been past two years, so the pictures should be there by now. Hopefully, by my next visit I will see them. 😊

I'm a big fan of museums. I'm also working to visit all of the Presidential Museums. So, of course I stopped by the LBJ Presidential Library before heading home to Colorado after working in Austin for a few days. Parking was a bit confusing and I don't know if I was supposed to pay or not. But, I parked out front and had no issues. Didn't pay and still don't know if that's correct... The admission is $13, but you need to purchase online in advance. I showed up without a ticket and was turned away at the door. It wasn't a busy place so I was able to log in on my phone and easily get a ticket. The building outside is depressing and boring. Inside is fairly basic, but all in all, it is a fitting and solid tribute to the President. A guide greeted me right after I walked in. She is a pleasant, smiling promoter of the museum and all things President Johnson. Very knowledgeable and kind. She offered to take several pictures and told me stories as I walked around. Left me to myself after awhile, but was a positive impression and her kindness is appreciated. I love to see the Oval Office, the history behind our presidents, and all of the challenges the world presented at the time. Overall a good presidential museum, a pleasant tour, and fun visit for me. There's a decent, but small gift shop as you leave.

LBJ library is definitely worth a visit. I knew nothing about LBJ before going. I thought it's just a library and I didn't expect to be paying for it. It's a presidential library (archival for LBJ era and it's by appointment) and a museum (documenting LBJ time plus music in America). We went on Tuesday (50%, $8 per person) Museum is floors 3, 4, and 10. Archival library (by appointment) are floors 5,6,7, and 8. Floor 3 (entry floor) is history of music in America. It's lovely and enjoyable. In addition, there is a few minutes film about LBJ (a must see) and a timeline of LBJ and lady bird life's. Floor 4 is my favorite. It's about politics during LBJ time. Imagine a president comes after Kennedy's assassination and in the middle of cold war with Soviet union and the rise of communism. Internally, there is the civil right movement, poverty, and illiteracy. Also, the space race, Vietnam war, Israel-Arab conflict, etc. You will learn about the thousands of bills signed during LBJ era. Floor 10, is a replica of the ovel office, the lady bird office, and their belongings. It's a light floor. Bathrooms are in 2nd and 10th floors GPS will take you to UT parking which requires permit. The next lot is FREE AND it's dedicated for library visitors. Don't park on the street it's not free!

We always enjoy the presidential libraries. There is so much history and it's like stepping back in time. Really enjoyed it and may go back the next time we are in Austin.

What an amazing tour, it's truly a time machine into the past. Having only been a child during his Presidency, the Library shed a lot of light into Johnson's work and dedication. While it's a bit dated, and should be, it's very informative along with a very well kept animatronic LBJ. The staff is very kind, exceedingly helpful making the tour even more delightful. Highly recommend a look if one is in Austin Texas.

Very interesting museum that provides a good overview of the times and issues facing the United States in the sixties. Both LBJ's civil rights success and his Vietnam failure are both presented with reasonable objectivity. It was an unexpected treat to be able to listen to many of LBJ's phone conversations with historical figures of the time, like Martin Luther King, Herbert Humphrey, Edgar Hoover and many more.

We were very impressed with this museum. It is very detailed oriented and very well presented. The only upset is that there’s a wall of portraits of all the US presidents and first ladies except for President Trump and first lady, Melania. No matter what our opinions are, we cannot rewrite history. His portrait along with his wife’s portrait must be put up on that wall.

Very nice presidential library. There is a lot of good civil rights memorabilia and stories mixed in with the times.

I had zero expectations going into visiting this museum. I was blown away by how well it was laid out. I learned a great deal about LBJ that I had no idea about. Great museum.

This is our all time favorite place to swim! Austin allows women to go topless so be prepared if you are a Karen to stay at home if you have a problem with that. The water stays cold all year round since it’s a natural spring. I bring flippers and snorkels to really enjoy the crystal clear water. The pool is so large that even when its very crowded once you get inside still plenty of room. You have to pay to get in, non residents pay $9. Residents pay $5 No coolers, and only drinks are ones you can put a top on. No pets allowed but right beside the pool is barking springs which is great for dogs, but too many people are letting them off leash so potential dog fights can happen. Keep you pet in a leash if you bring them. VERY clean great place to spend the day. They are open till 10 pm and there are lights that add to the fun of night swimming. Great family place. Great for small kids too as the water gets very shallow on one end. I went topless since many other women were doing so, it’s perfectly legal in Austin, I had a blast no one said anything negative to me, but looking at some of the other reviews some people take serious issues with topless women- those people should stay at home. If you want to leave and grab lunch there are tables under a shaded area right outside the pool, and then you can get back in make sure to have them stamp your hand or keep your pass- using the app saves a lot of time.

Giant spring pool. You can pay or not. The side where you don't pay is the river. Water is very cold and the bottom is slippery. It is NOT VERY HANDICAPPED ACCESSABLE. The so called grass trail to the pool is not accessible to any handicapped person. I use a sturdy forearm crutch. I barely made the trail. There are not any directions in the parking lots. There are handicapped spaces to park. Once in the entrance, the so called ramp for wheelchairs is far away. Other than myself I didn't see one handicapped person. It was really crowded. Another issue is that the sides of the pool are hills of grass and trees. I really advise to try to find instructions as to where to go.Its nice to take a dip. For seniors $2.00. Have to buy tickets at the kiosk to get in or buy online.

How awesome is to have nature spring water to swim! Not to mention the ancient history in this area. Nothing beats the fresh water and nature surrounding. As deep as 18’. You can come spend the whole day here. It opens till 10pm which is excellent.

Barton Springs Pool is a 3 acres wide pool inside Zilker Park which is fed from underground springs with an average temperature of 68-70 degrees F, ideal for year-round swimming. Went there on a hot summer evening. We reached there at 8:55 pm, so the staff at the ticket counter suggested us to come after 5 minutes for entering without admission fees or entry pass. Great advice. So entry pass is not required from 9 pm - 10 pm and from 5 am- 8 am. But you have to swim at your own risk because no lifeguard is available at that time. During weekends, it gets busy, but all the people gives everyone own space which is admirable. The pool's natural spring water offer a refreshing escape from the Texas heat. The pool's ambiance is serene. Other than swimming in the pool, we also walked around the walkway around the pool. The downtown skyline can be seen from the pool which makes your experience more memorable. Overall, Barton Springs is a must-visit for locals and tourists alike, a gem of Austin's outdoor scene.

The place was nice and clean and quite spacious when we went! Typically when you first arrive, there are so many people camped out on the grass everywhere and can be difficult to find a spot when with a few friends. However, that was not the case when I went! The water, of course, was nice and cool and the sun made the weather absolutely perfect! When we left, I noticed that I had left my shades at the spot we were at and the woman at the office let me go back in and get them without any cost! Definitely will keep coming back throughout the summer!

Water is sooo cold. You have to pay $5 each if you are an Austin resident. No food allowed but you can bring your own water! Recommended to bring aqua shoes and a tube! Great place to relax!

Super awesome place to visit in Austin!!! First off jumping in the water will shock your body. It’s very very cold. You do get used to it after a few minutes but it was almost miserable for me at first. It is an amazing natural spring pool with awesome views all around. A diving board and plenty of space to sit around and enjoy the sun or shade. For Austin residents it is cheaper than non residents but if you are a veteran or active military no need for tickets. Just show ID at gate and they let you in for free. Everyone else in your party does need a ticket. Outside of the gates there is a great panini food truck with soft drinks and Gatorade along with water. There’s also a Jim Jim’s stand which is just flavored ice. Definitely recommend going just to try but I personally am not spending a ton of time in the water just because I do like it a little warmer. This is definitely a place to go here in Austin though and super popular. TONS of people!! I recommend getting online and buying tickets before you get here and you must read the rules before coming in just because there is a few and I mainly was surprised you can’t bring ice chests but that’s the rules. Anyway enjoy and definitely check it out.

Awesome spot! The whole place was pretty clean and the water was cold and nice on a hot summer day. It is a spring even tho it is build as a pool to be more comfortable, but there is moss in the water. There are easy entry to the water with stairs and ladders. People were jumping from the diving board and it looked really fun. There are lifeguards watching everyone and making sure that everyone is safe. The bathrooms were clean and comfortable. I do recommend going on the week days so it's not so packed with people.

Went on a Monday morning and the water was so clean (and cold!) It wasn't busy at all. The staff and lifeguards are great. Bring some blankets and towels to lounge on the hillside. You cannot bring food, alcohol, glass containers nor coolers INTO the facility... But they are great for a quick pic-nic/tailgate at your vehicle! Don't forget to pay for parking at the parking kiosks. Highly recommend this place for all ages. The BEST way to cool off quickly.

This is the first time that I visit Barton Spring and I was very please with the maintenance this place have, this spring waters are really crystal clear and some areas the color of the water was a beautiful blue emeral, come and visitthis place you will have a good time here in the heart of downtown Austin.

One of the coolest 'pools' I have been to. Refreshing on a hot day with bites of the skyline. There is a diving board and we saw ducks and turtles swimming around. Worth a visit especially if you are with children.

We didn’t get into the pool but we entered where the kayak and canoe rental is. You don’t have to pay just find a spot along the bank and get on in! Some spots are shallow for you get kids and some are deep! We had a blast no filter needed for this water! It looks amazing and freezing but you get used to it after a while.

This place is great! The water is pretty cold and for a cheap entrance, it’s a fun little day excursion before or after going into Austin. The view of the city is really close and the water is pretty clear! There are interesting characters beyond the dam for families or young children but the swimming is great. I hope to come back soon!

Kids had a blast plenty of clear water atmosphere is breathable and has a very nice couple of views to see and look at or to take plenty of photos. You can tube, swim, jump off the bridge, or even use the rope to swing in the water for extra fun. At the end of this very hot beautiful day everyone is exhausted and ready for a good sleep once you get home.

Visited from Houston on a Friday afternoon, and it wasn't too crowded. Water was cold at first but was definitely refreshing in this over 100° Texas heat. I do recommend water shoes as they are very slippery and the rocks are uneven as they are natural springs. They have shallow areas and deep areas on the opposite side. They also have restrooms and showers available, which were a plus. We took water tumblers and stayed about 4 hours, and we were good. We will definitely return!

This place was amazing. The water was about 68 degrees while the air temp was 107 degrees. They have lifeguards on duty for your safety. Very family friendly! The parking is about the only issue I came across because all the kiosks were down except one. Had to wait thirty minutes to pay for parking in the sweltering heat. The online site was down as well. We still had an amazing time and I recommend this place if you need to cool down in the hot Texas heat!

Wow. I can’t believe I went to University of Texas Austin and never went here until I moved away to NYC. This is a find! I’m so bummed I never went here when I lived here 😳 The water is refreshing on those HOT Texas days. Now be warned it’s cold. It’s because it’s naturally coming up from a spring below ⬇️ so it’s pretty cold but it’s also fresh with none of that chlorine that damages you. Spacious huge natural pool to swim. There are areas on the hill to lounge out and sun bathe so tip: bring a large towel or picnic blanket. A great place for a large group of friends for sure 👍🏼 👍🏼

They could have raises the entrance fees to this natural spring pool and it still would have been a good deal to enjoy this cool comfortable water in the hot summer day. Wish they would have built some private cabana to rent out so families can have more comfortable settings to spend the day.

POLAR BEAR PLUNGE!!! Went here for the polar bear plunge on 1/1/24. Tons of people, but not to the point that it was over crowded. Although parking can be a bit difficult. Free entry plus free donuts and coffee. Had a bast, plan to make this a yearly tradition!! Highly recommend... As for summer swimming this is a fun place to go but can get crowded at times, especially on the weekends. Our first experience here we learned that women can go topless in Austin so if you have small children be cautious. Great swimming spot but personally I'd rather go to other spots outside of down town Austin.

What a lovely spot and they're open late. The water is very cold, even on 105° days. It's wonderful to be able to swim in a natural habitat with fish, turtles and salamanders thriving there. Water shoes were a must for me. It was great to see the lifeguards passing attention and stopping folks from flipping into the water. Be sure to Bring your flotation devices for the left side of the pool.

Serene and Scenic Visit to Barton Springs Pool My family, along with a friend’s family and their two kids, had the pleasure of visiting Barton Springs Pool in Austin on November 23. Our experience was nothing short of enriching and satisfying. We spent a delightful two hours exploring the area, immersing ourselves in the natural beauty of this urban oasis. The pool itself, with its clear, refreshing waters, was a joy to walk around. The children, in particular, were thrilled with the surroundings, adding to the joyful atmosphere of our visit. I had a very nice late swim with a perfect view on the skyline. It is a very beautiful natural swimming pool. Absolutely worth visiting. Highly recommended.

Always a great place to cool off! Admission is $5 for Austin residents. Usually super busy during the summer, especially on weekends, but this photo was taken at sunset on a Monday in October (still hot though!).

I'd definitely want to go back on a warmer day and get into the pool! Haven't seen anything like it! I believe the ticket to swim is $5 but entrance is free if you just want to walk around.

Super nice place. But if you get a kayak further down, you gotta row at least about a quarter mile to get to main river where you see high rise buildings

Fun public 'pool'! We had fun wading around, and swimming a little, but it was so cold! None the less, it was fun and hilarious as it also is quite slippery. I loved that you can see the downtown skyline from the pool, as well as planes flying it.

Great place to get out of the heat. Some dated items, it's it's museum! Great gift shop with a very nice staff. The museum itself is laid out very nicely start at the top or start at the bottom. Loads of fun for the kids as well as adults. Parking is available nearby and an easy walk. The first Sunday of every month the museum is free for all!

The trip was my family's first time there. It's such a large, well ran, and Beautiful Museum. Kudos to the administration! From the curator, to antiquities, to marketing. They were personable and well versed. Wow, the gift shop even had copies of his biography: Jewel of the South, a civil rights biography of Rev. Dr. L.E. Bennett. The reason for our trip was to see the new exhibit on my Father, Rev. Dr. L.E. Bennett. It honored his life in civil rights in San Antonio, Texas, and how he integrated Southwestern Bell/ AT&T in the early 60s. My 88 year-old Mother loved it and talked to Dad's photo. That touched my heart. Thank you for collecting, recording, and safeguarding Texas History.

I visited for the first time and delved into Texas history, meticulously documented across various levels. As a visitor, I found the museum less captivating, given that much of the information could be accessed online. I prefer historical sites with tangible evidence like scriptures or ancient ruins. Luckily, a sunken boat from 18th century, belonging to the Spanish explorer who discovered Texas, added depth to the narrative. It's fascinating to trace Texas's journey from Mexican territory to a U.S. state. Allowing about 3 hours for a thorough exploration, the $15 entry fee felt fair.

Very clean and informative. Really enjoyed the layout and presentation. If you are traveling here without a car though I highly recommend getting a ride with how much of a detour I had to take to get here with the amount of construction.

A great hands-on experience of Texas history! Lots of great displays and video, as well as interactive video games. The first time I attended was with a group of 80 or so students, which was probably too many for the space. This time I went with a group that was small enough we could read and discuss the information in the various exhibits. It was cool to see so many of the things we had read and studied about

No visit to Austin is complete without a stop at the Bullock Texas State History Museum. We visited on a Friday during the summer and there were no crowds. Laid out well, with interesting exhibits. The La Belle ship and Goddess of Liberty were two of our favorites. Several videos to take a rest while walking around four stories. Texas theatre and IMAX inside. We didn’t have time to take in a show, but there were several playing at convenient times. We grabbed a snack at the cafe and relaxed before heading back out into the heat!

The museum was an amazing tour. I had been there years ago with my now 21 year old son when they had a tour day when he was in first grade. Now we toured the museum with my daughter son-in-law and my granddaughters it was amazing. I hope to see that in time they will appreciate these type of outings and attend these facilities frequently. Thank you for such an amazing day at the museum so peaceful and very clean. Downside is the garage parking fee $15 be ready to pay that!

It’s a great place to be! My favorite was the first floor, seeing the ship and reading all the information was so amazing and inspiring. The rest of it is simply beautiful and full of details. I especially loved the small films you can watch. I had my one year daughter and her stroller with me and I was worried when I got in, but the staff are super nice and encouraging, I used the elevators and the spaces were perfect to walk around with the stroller comfortably. The bathrooms were on spot, the tickets were affordable and the atmosphere was comfortable. I felt that the museum presents different and wide collections of things and information from all over texas. It is a great place for family and kids. It was a great experience overall.

great historical museum. it's a bit hokey and kid-oriented but nevertheless really a terrific museum. as of this writing, fabulous exhibition of Masonic and Odd Fellows Folk Art.

Lots of interesting exhibitions, well organized, really inspiring of Texas history and cowboys. I really enjoyed the short films of Texas history, such a beautiful and well made firm, the rattlesnake story was funny and the surprise part got me jump out of the chair! Amazing 3D technique and projector. love the storyline.

Beautiful museum. The exhibits are engaging for both adults and kids and show different facets of Texas. We especially loved the 3D movie , was very informative and interesting. The museum is designed in a modern and inviting way. A fun trip and unique experience. (Pay what you wish if you ask at ticket counter :) great gift shop too.

It's free on the 1st Sunday of every month. This is a must-visit if you're interested in the history of Texas or looking to get away from the heat. The Museum is rich in Texan history. Three floors were worth of Texan history, starting almost 13,000 years ago to today. The parking is located under the structure and closes at midnight.

A wonderful museum filled with Texas history. The best part was seeing the hull of La Salle’s ship the La Belle. It’s incredible. It has interactive features throughout the museum. Take your time, watch the short videos, and disk it all in.

Went to watch an Imax documentary. It was amazing! Explored a bit but they were setting up for an event so didn't stay. Definitely want to come back to see more.

This museum is absolutely fantastic! It's like stepping back in time and learning all about the amazing history of our state. And don't even get me started on the cafe - the food is delicious! Plus, the walking path outside is perfect for a leisurely stroll after exploring the exhibits. It's definitely a must-visit for families looking for a fun and educational day out!

Beautiful architecture. You can see Texas from its pre-history to present day. You will discover the history of the ship La Belle and you can see part of the wreckage and its artifacts recovered and preserved. In the museum shop, you will find a lot of books of every part of Texas history, gadgets and curiosity. Worth a visit.

Today my daughter had a field trip here. Everyone greeted us and was very kind. This place is amazing especially the Shark Exhibit. My daughter favorite part was the movie we watched about Texas History the seats even moved with the movie. I won’t tell you what part. 🤭 the have a Cafe for those eating there. They have elevators for those who prefer not to climb the stairs. We went up to the third floor. Here is just a few pictures. Enjoy

Worth a visit. I've been several times and always learn a little bit more about Texas history. The top floor seems to be a rotating exhibition, it's been different every time, but always interesting. Kids enjoy the museum too, although I admit they get a little bored after an hour or two. We like to go when they have family friendly events, where they do interactive "extras" from time to time. The current (Jan 2024) shark exhibit is pretty cool, and I enjoyed reading about Bobbie Nelson and her piano shown on the top floor. Parking garage is $15.

Great museum! It took us about 2 hours without watching a show in either theater. There wasn't a line, but we went on the Saturday before NYE, and we got there when they opened. It was busier later when we left. So much history covered in 3 stories. Well laid out and the staff were all very nice. Parking was $15. We were going to walk to the capital and take advantage of already having paid for parking, but there's construction, and it would have taken longer than we had time for. Beautiful courtyard area and plenty of pictures opportunities. Definitely recommend!

Excellent exhibits, layout and the accompanying information to each exhibit was succinct and paints a good picture of the era. A well thought out museum where you flow easily through time especially in the colonial history (first/ground floor) and lone star history (second floor). Their sharks section, which seemed out of place (I guess the place is aimed at families with little children), has a few noteworthy fossil reproductions, including a couple which are 250-150 million years old. The ancient history + colonizers section had interesting exhibits about the French and Spanish expeditions to colonize north America. Second floor was all about the lone star state, and about the wars between the Mexicans, US colonizers, and Native Americans. It also had exhibits talking about immigrants such as the Chinese who built railroads and ran businesses, and about the history of slavery and racism. Third floor was all about culture, farming, animal husbandry, oil and gas, and NASA's presence and missions from the state. Overall a great experience. Can be covered in 1.5 hours if you read quickly. Recommend 2.5 hours if you want to take your time.

Very nice museum to give you a thorough understanding about Texas State from beginning. Their Shark section and small movie clips are amazing, my kids enjoyed a lot. First Sunday of every month is free and luckily we went on the same day.

Ann and Roy Butler park is lie in the Colorado river side. It’s good to run, walk and spend time with family in the park.

This is a really nice trail, easy walk, perfect for a day with good weather. It's really well shaded. I always find a lot of people walking and running with their dogs here. I was recently there on a nice fall day, and the colors of trees on the bank of the river were so scenic. You will always find turtles in the river and the colorful kayaks in the water present a pretty view.

A great trail in central austin

This trail is more than the sum of its parts. It's a 10-mile continuous loop around Lady Bird Lake that connects multiple open spaces and parks and is proximate to several very popular parts of town (Zilker Park, Downtown, Rainey Street and more). There are multiple places to cross so one can hike or bike several shorter distances (rather than committing to the entire loop) if desired. Without a doubt one of the crown jewels of Austin and a fun place for a quick workout or a leisurely stroll.

Wonderful walking trail by the Colorado river, a portion of it is a boardwalk over the river by the south bank. Great view of downtown. We only walked 3.5 miles of the long trail but will be back to explore more of it once we find free/city parking close to the trail. We parked in a very expensive parking lot by the Congress St bridge (bat bridge) - $25 for an hour!

Great trail for walking and biking along and along the Colorado River with great views of Austin. You can rent a boat and ride along the river or just sit and admire the turtles, which are abundant on the river. Highly recommend this beautiful trail. Popular running and walking trail along both sides of the Lady Bird Lake / Colorado River offering panoramic views of downtown Austin. Many trail options in various bridges to crossover. Street parking may be limited close to the trail - Zilker park is not too far away from the park but is far from Congress. I wouldn't recommend running here at night. The trail doesn't feature any lights along the trail. Even with a strong trail running light, there's a good chunk of people who make the trail resting areas their home at night.

The Ann and Roy Butler Trail circles the Colorado River, parts of Barton Springs and Lady Bird Lake between MoPac (west) and Pleasant Valley Road (east), providing approximately 10 miles of shoreline trails for walkers, joggers and bikers. There are recreational grounds and parks on both sides, loads of seating, fishing spots. You'll see good birdlife, fish, turtles, a snake or two and even bats under Congress Ave. bridge on summer evenings. Lots of dog walkers use the trail. Unfortunately, not enough public toilets during the walk so this part you need to plan accordingly. There are very nice trees lining the waters, we really enjoyed the wildflowers that were in bloom during our recent May visit. On the south side there is a memorial to guitar and music legend Stevie Ray Vaughan which you can see with the new curved Google Tower in the background.

It is a nice place to go for a picnic, I recommend going there in the spring. It has a nice little hut and a lake near it and it has a park for kids to play.

From the moment we arrived we felt like royalty. The staff went above and beyond in all circumstances. The hotel itself is a sight to behold including the bar which was packed every night we were there, it also happens to be a quiet spot to catch up on work in the morning. Katie at the front desk was exceptional along with David in valet. We look forward to returning next year, thank you again!

The hotel was very nice! The staff was friendly and helpful. Everything was clean and unique. My room (546) had another room next door. There was a foyer outside the two rooms with a security lock. My neighbors could have locked us in. Seemed a little weird, but my neighbors behaved. The guys at the concierge station, (Jay, Kaos, and Texan) were very helpful and friendly. Also the attendants at the front desk were helpful and efficient. The room was very large and luxurious, but the mirror on the wall where the beds were seemed to be ambiguously placed. Not a bad thing just kind of odd. Also the view was of the building next door. If I opened the window, I could have touched it.

Interesting place! The food at the hotel was great - the burger was exceptional! It looked so simple yet the flavours brought back something I haven’t experienced in a long time. Flavours that makes you feel home. Just because of this, I was super satisfied. Additionally, the server was super friendly and on top of it. A little background music going on in the lounge - great vibes for friends and dates.

The valet guys were the most helpful and attentive I have ever seen. We utilized close to 10 different gentlemen for bags and retrieving/ leaving our vehicle throughout the trip and each one was super polite and helpful and always asking if we needed anything else. The rooms were nice but the walls were thin so we could hear the party next door throughout the night.

We stayed at the Driscoll and they were so accommodating. Stephen was our porter and was friendly and helped us get all our stuff out safely. I was in a wheel chair and even the hotel changed our room to an ADA room. Clean, friendly staff in the cafe and front desk as well. We will be back. The cafe has delicious croissants and quiche. Absolutely worth it and made our trip that much better. We were treated well by everyone at the hotel and the place is gorgeous!

Before finalizing any trip, I do a quick check on a few sites, including HoteIDuIIy.cᴏm My last trip was surprisingly affordable after that bit of research. Gorgeous hotel with soaring high ceilings, an art gallery feel in every corridor, and some parts of the building dating back to the 1880s. Amazing charm and architectural details! Peacefully quiet room even though the downtown city block is very walkable and bustling. And the service was top notch - two people personally reached out to me by text message before I got there to confirm my reservation had everything I needed. Bravo!

Did not stay at the hotel but we spent about an hour at the bar. This is definitely a 5 star hotel. The furniture throughout was nice and the bar had a great atmosphere. They have a small stage in the bar, a classic Country and Western band was playing. The band was good and they were quiet enough that everyone could still carry on a conversation. We had a good time.

The hotel was great! Quiet despite being right on 6th street. The whole staff were super friendly and helpful -- what you think of when you think hospitality. We stayed in a renovated room so got the modern comforts along with the historic charm.

This was an absolute fantastic stay! Between the location, the ambiance, history of the hotel and grand accommodations I will stay here every time I visit Austin. Raymundo was especially helpful, he went out of his way to make sure we had the best stay. Truly loved staying here and felt more than welcome! Driskill is a must!

Literally the best hotel I've ever stayed at. The staff was exceptionally helpful and the hotel itself was incredibly gorgeous and clean. The guided tour was a fun perk, and the bakery was fantastic. Our room was tiny, but we were forewarned and the original stained glass in the bathroom was a real treat as was the floor to ceiling tiled shower. Spooky, old fashioned, and just plain nostalgic.

Our stay was awesome this weekend. Rosy, Consuelo, Elina, Stephen, Joseph and Jay were rock stars and made the experience memorable. They all took the time to help us and made us feel welcome. Excellent customer service and look forward to our next stay there. The food at the 1886 Cafe & Bakery was great too.

Loved our stay! Thanks Matt for hauling up our plethora of luggage and sharing about the hotel tour. Maddie was great on the hotel knowledge tour, the rooms were all amazing and full of history. Food and drinks were phenomenal and the secret mezzanine balcony nightcap spot that Stephen shared made us feel very exclusive. We also had such a great checkout and loading experience with Stephen and crew on our way out. He remembered our family and gave us such a personalized experience. We will absolutely be back thanks to the family friendly experience this team gave us!

Staying at the Driskill was fantastic. Valet service, front desk staff, and room service was excellent. Loved the fresh smell inside especially with the Christmas tree in the main lobby. King room with balcony came as advertised with no let downs. After a night out on 6th street we were able to bring our pizza in from the street & grab a couple Dr. Peppers for fancy cuisine in the Mezzanine. Only gripe is that check in is at 4pm and the historic tour is at 4pm. Changing either time so they do not overlap would have been icing on the cake. I hope I can attend the tour another time.

We only popped in, just to have a look around at the end of a fabulous walking tour of Austin and it was amazing, gorgeous decor, superb atmosphere and lovely staff. We then decided to get something to eat in the restaurant and had what can only be described as the best cinnamon roll we have ever tasted… and it was the size of a small loaf! Definitely going to pop back next time we are in Austin, see you soon.

The hotel is well located, within walking distance to many great restaurants and bars. Interior is old but well maintained, very classy. The cafe in the lobby, we didn’t realize that local people would come to this place to have brunch on Sundays until we see taking off. Also the bar at the hotel is really good as well. Glad we took advantage of them during our stay. The staff were super friendly. David and Luke at the front entrance valet are genuinely friendly and went above and beyond helping us to get in and out of hotel with tons of luggage

Amazing piece of living history. The hotel is not really my style but I do have to say it is an amazing place. History screams out every place you look. Me and my wife will be returning soon. The staff was great. Very friendly. It is only a few blocks from the capital. And being right on 6th street is nice. If you are staying in downtown Austin, this is the only place to stay. Trust me.

Had a great stay. Staff were amazing. Matt, Joseph and Aidan Gibson were quick with retrieving our car and providing helpful insights of what to do in the extreme heat on a Saturday. Overall loved our stay, we knew there were drawbacks for staying downtown but they were all minor compared to the beautiful Landmark suite, history and staff wanting to ensure our stay was perfect.

Upon arriving we were greeted by Paul Mercer, valet, who graciously helped us. The hotel is charming and all of the staff were very accommodating. Love the turn down service. Cafe and bar are great places to eat and drink. Stephen, valet, did an amazing job of bring our bags down upon Checkout. Highly recommended!!

Excellent service. Kindness and positive vibes from the moment your enter the space and the door opens. Lobby service was undeniably top notch. Katie at the front desk went out of her way to be extra helpful. We were fortunate enough to have Joseph help with our bags upon both arrival and departure. Natalia in valet had a beautifully infectious smile and laugh that radiated good vibes all around. The restaurant was superb and Steven graced us with his charm as he helped us upon our departure. 10/10 will stay again. Made our quick weekend trip getaway the best it could possibly be.

The Driskill is an amazing place in history. The hotel has historical tours and the main foyer is magnificent. The rooms are nice and elegant. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. The hotel is also a great place for your company to have their seminars. I will definitely stay here again.

Everything about the driskill exceeded all our expectations. The only thing to note is it is not very modern, if that's what you like. They have kept it original, even in the rooms. There are real books on every floor, the historic side is just gorgeous, and the valet is top-notch superb.

My husband and I brought relatives from out of town to visit the wonderful stained glass in the hallways and enjoy the "cowboy" atmosphere of their bar. We all had a terrific time and took some great photographs.

So many things went wrong within the hour we were at thos hotel. Valet rushing me when I was trying to gather my things to get out which I ended up dropping my phone and busting the screen. I should of said back up and give me some time but I didn't. Then there was an issue with my reservation. I requested a disability room because for one I am disabled and secondly at every other hotel they are usually on the first floor or near the elevator. Neither was the case for my disabled room that just had bathtub railing in. I had to take TWO elevators to the 4th floor and down a hall to get to my room. Immediately going down the hall I could smell air freshener trying to cover up the moldy smell but what caused us to leave is the chemical smell in the room. It was so strong just after 10 minutes in the room I was starting to taste it and feel nauseous and sick. Front desk could careless. The bellhop said wow I can smell it too. I felt poisoned and we had a baby with us. It took hours after leaving for my head to clear up and to feel better. They said they would refund everything but yep you guessed it. I have t received it yet. They said I would get a email and nope no email yet Over $400 for a night and $55 for valet is ridiculous to or this hotel. I will be calling the health department about the chemical poisoning I experienced. Well we all experienced.

This place put my family in the Urgent clinic do to chemical poisoning. Waiting on blood work to see if it shows up. The room had the strongest chemical smell and made us all sick. My disabled grandmother was affected the most. She was throwing up from only 15 minutes in the room. Staff didn't offer another room to see if it was just our room or offer anything so we checked out and left but they still charged us for the room but said we no showed. We were a walk in and had no reservation. So that makes no sense. We were only there 30 minutes total.

Decent hotel full of history & ghost stories. Rooms are a little old but still decent. We were there during the cold snap and the general temperature of the rooms was a little cold. Check-in was seamless & the staff was generally quite nice. Location is great , close to a lot of the downtown vibrant hot spot. Nice place overall.

There was only one confusing situation about the hotel. We love history and knew that someone wrote a book about the Driskill history and ghosts. We saw her on TV and that's why we stayed at the Driskill. On Google maps it says the offices for Bad Wolf Ghost Tours is inside the Driskill. The staff said that was not correct. Contacted them, and they were from San Antonio. There were several tours but none of them were local or the one with the guide who wrote the book. Confusing for guests who want to learn real history.

This place is top notch, but the rooms are a little quirky, but still nice. After a Red eye flight we arrived at 6am, it was a little bit early, the door was locked, but we managed to get inside Our room wasn't ready? Ha ha, but they did get us in at 11. We had a great breakfast with cocktails.

Yesterday, I enjoyed the most magical experience! I was meeting a friend for lunch at the Driskill and arrived early to tour the hotel. Everyone was helpful and courteous. The entire hotel is glorious, and I can't wait to come back to dine and for events. We ate at 1886, and Madison was an incredible ambassador for the elegance of this establishment. Her level of care and attention was extraordinary, and her enthusiasm for the Driskill helped me fall in love with the place. We enjoyed dining in the lobby area among the art and beauty. Finally, my husband is a chef, and great food is our passion. Never have I tasted such glorious jam or an omelette so divine! Several years ago, we watched "The Hundred-Foot Journey" movie. Helen Mirren's character asked the aspiring chef to cook her an omelette. I did not fully understand then--but I certainly do now after eating the Lady Bird Omelet at 1886! I am counting the moments to return for sunrise breakfast and high tea. Thank you for an afternoon I will cherish.

We went on a misty day, and it was still worth the trip! I definitely recommend the short trail up— you get better views than if you take the stairs.

Walk up the hill , many steps upstairs , then you have a wonderful overlook of the Colorado River . Rocky way upstairs on the hill along the river . Beautiful view . Many people are interested in that panorama views .

A good place to see sunset. The skyline of Austin can also be seen.

Beautiful views for Sunset Need to climb 110 steps takes very less time don't worry. Views are amazing can see the city view, river view and the beautiful houses across the river. The drive is also good with beautifully decorated houses as it was Christmas time i have visited.

We went on a Saturday in the afternoon but it was very overcast so it kind of took away some of the awe. It's 99 steps to the top. I was able to get some pretty good video and pictures. It's a rough trail that has lots of rocks so make sure you have on good shoes for traction. There was lots of broken glass on the side of the road where you park. So make sure you hide your valuables or take them with you.

This place has a beautiful view for sunset and watching the river! It's a very short hike to the spot and had multiple view points. Sometimes during weekend or on a public holiday it's a bit crowded and difficult to find parking.

Awesome view!! Free, about 100 steps, and awesome view at the top. There are tables around to eat or sit. Totally a place to visit at-least once if visiting Austin.

As good as a mountain is going to get in the Austin area. A bit crowded on the weekends and during sunset, but fine for stopping by and hanging out for a bit.

You can reach the top either by climbing stairs or there is a pathway starting towards the north (end of all the parking) spectacular sunset views. You can see from downtown to penny backer bridge from different points

First time here! We decided to go at 530am to see the sunrise but there was no sun. But the views were still absolutely breathtaking. Lots of early morning runners and trainers out. It was very refreshing and calming at the same time! Needed this!

Came here for a view and it was great view of the city skyline and the Colorado River. Steps to the top looked intimidating at first but were not as far as it looked. Parking goes around the skirt of the peak and parking was easy but getting out of the space was a little hard for me because of the visibility of the traffic.

Our family checked out Mt. Bonnell which was a nice little site. There were some stairs to climb which were a little tiring as we had bike for 2 1/2 hours earlier but not something that would stop one from visiting. It was pretty cool up there but the vegetation does obscure a lot of the view.

Mount Bonnell is an amazing spot to experience the breathtaking beauty of Austin. It is one of the highest points in Austin at 781 feet. It was named after the Commissioner of Indian Affairs for the Texas Republic George Bonnell. The mountain peak is maintained by Covert Park. The hike to the peak, with its 106 stairs and 0.5-mile trail, is definitely worth it. Best place to watch the sunset in Austin. The views of Lake Austin, downtown Austin, and the western hills are simply spectacular, especially during sunset. Make sure to bring water during the summer. It's free to access with free parking. Though the security is not great. A lot of break-ins are occurring nowadays. The park authority should prioritize safety measures.

Awesome views! It's a pretty quick hike from where you park. You can see a pretty good view of the river from up there. There's no restrooms or food/drink stands. It's probably just a quick stop to take pictures and leave. We did it on our way to Oasis at Lake Travis.

You can't fully appreciate climbing up here unless you visit for the sunset. Beautiful view looking over the river on your front and the Austin skyline to your back in the distance. Come for sunset and witness the river turn golden and the Austin skyline wear a golden crown. It's a short (~5mins) but steep climb up the stairs to get to the top

The 102 stairs certainly don't feel like 102! Had a lovely experience walking up to Mt bonnel and seeing all the wildlife.

Beautiful view point that is easy to get to. Parking was easy to find, it is a small lot though. Did not have any problems with car break ins. Romantic place to have a quick picnic or watch sunset.

I love Mt. Bonnell. I love to take my out of town guests here. While my family members don't have a fascination with this place, I believe everyone should come here at least once. On a gorgeous day, you really do get a view of the city and the lake but on a cold, gloomy day, not so much. We went on a Friday after so there weren't too many people. There's a couple of flights of stairs to walk up to, but it isn't too bad. I would say it's at a moderate level for people with lower fitness abilities. Older people may have to stop and catch a breath, but it is still doable.

I recently visited South Congress "SoCo" Ave in Austin, Texas and had an amazing time! This vibrant and active area has so much to offer, from a variety of restaurants to local businesses and great people watching. It's the perfect place to take a leisurely stroll and check out the many murals - there are some really cool ones to see! One of the highlights of my trip was getting a slice of pizza at Home Slice, which was delicious and definitely worth trying. I also stopped by White Tiger for a couple of drinks and was impressed by the creative cocktail menu and friendly staff. And for those with a sweet tooth, Big Top candy store is a must-visit! Additionally, just a block over from South Congress "SoCo" Ave are even more great local restaurants to explore. Overall, I highly recommend checking out South Congress "SoCo" Ave if you're in Austin - it's a must-see destination with something for everyone.

I love Austin and I love this company, sonder. I travel a lot all over the world bc I work remotely so I always stay w sonder bc I always get twice the value for half the price. My apartment here was huge. Cheap. Beautifully furnished. Great location. Great amenities. Digital check in and check out. You cannot get a better place in Austin for this price. Obsessed. A lot of fun! I was here 7 years ago and it’s been built up considerably since then. We spent a few hours walking around, checking out the cool shops, and grabbing a couple of snacks along the way. Make sure to go up to the Congress ave bridge too!

This is not an ordinary avenue. You can find a lot of places to remember.

Definitely one of the prettier botanical gardens I've been to. Gorgeous even on a cloudy day! Be warned though there are rattlesnakes on the property so just be careful where you step should be fine if you stay on the trails I wouldn't recommend wandering off of them though and if you do keep your eyes on the ground for sure. Plenty of wildlife as well. Seen a fawn sleeping in some grass and a couple turkeys.

My final stop of the day and oh how I wished it had been my first. I had this idea in my head of a small little garden and was completely amazed by what I found instead! 😍 The intentionality given to the design of this vast expanse was so perfect in every way. The mix of beauty, serenity, education, delight, peace was everywhere. The stone arches along the entrance path. The lily pond and waterfall before you entered the main courtyard where the resident owl nests. The delightfully whimsical butterfly seats and waterfall you can go sit behind in a decorated cave. The play areas for children including a shaded sand area with all the tools needed to entertain. The main garden with areas alongside that buzzed with dozens of chunky bumblebees, The architecture of the various buildings and gathering spaces meant to stand out but also blend with nature. The Texas Hill country walking paths with educational placards about all the trees and plants. The shaded seating areas along these paths providing respite from the sun as well as delightful seat swings and trees unlike any I have ever seen. The green roof observation tower. The cafe with outside seating surrounded by gardens and the delightful gift shop. The outdoor library that looked like a merry-go-round including private benches. All of it...each new discovery perfect in its own special way. I wanted to wander enchanted forever. Sit in a tree swing seat and rock gently in the lovely breeze. Read a book in the meadow while the gazillions of butterflies danced around me. If you ever visit Austin in spring while the plethora of wildflowers are blooming ..go here... wander.... wonder.... breathe deeply...enjoy immensely. ♥️🏵️🌸🥀☀️😊♥️

Fantastic place to go learn about Texas landscape.... it has water stations to hydrate in between. It has lovely plants indigenous to Texas. They had nursery full of plants, but it's not open to public. I would have loved to buy their plants

The Wildflower Center is a beautiful sanctuary of pathways, gardens, plants and outdoor spaces that never disappoints. Lovely garden walks, pretty rock archetecture buildings and nature galore. Enjoy the cafe and gift shop as well. There are also excellent outdoor playplaces for the kids to run, climb and have fun. The signage all around provides information about all of the native plants. Wonderful day trip destination, highly recommended.

Had a really fun time visiting Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower center. So many wildflowers and they had amazing spots for pictures. It feels like a dream. They also have long trails and short trails and you can walk them depending on the weather. I love the observation tower. Their gift shop is so cute and filled with amazing gifts for you or loved ones. If you haven’t been there and want to see blue bonnets or other wild flowers, definitely visit.

Fortlandia is always a great time!! My kiddos love to explore. We love the open fields and kids activities! Beautiful flowers! We like the ability to see reptiles and bugs along the paths too! Worth the membership!

Went for Luminations. Totally worth it on a week day! Fun interactions and displays. About a mile walking, but easy going on flat ground. Can't wait to come back in the spring!

This was difficult. I went in Oct of 23’. The area was recovering from a drought. There were small delights here and there. Swings on trees. The trails were well maintained but the center didn’t look any better than a well maintained city park. -there were a series of plants/trees in cages? Like a petting zoo for plants. Not much fauna outside of the strategically planted trees and plants. -they did good by putting the kids areas area on the opposite side of the “trail” but you could still hear the kids screaming from across the park -some plant and flower life but there were large parts of nothing but “hill country” where there wasn’t a lot to look at. -I went in Oct so admittedly there was as much in bloom as in April-September. -think of your $15 as In investment into wildlife conservation. That’s what’s makes the mediocrity of the trails a bit more bearable

We went on a Thursday at the end of March and while there were some school/group field trips, it wasn't too crowded. My mom-friends and our 7 kids (all 4 and under) had a good time! There's plenty to do with the kiddos (I would suggest maybe a stroller if you have littles) especially in the family garden area... the natural playscapes, sand pit, waterfall, fort buiding, little house structures, trails, etc. were lots of fun for everyone! The bluebonnets were gorgeous, as well as the many different types of plants everywhere that had signs and info. We easily spent a few hours here and ate lunch at their cafe, which is pretty pricey but to be expected. Their mushroom sandwich was SO good, I would definitely recommend. There is an owl, Athena, that lives near the entrance that we could barely see sitting on her nest, which was cool, and lots of butterflies, insects, fish, turtles, etc. The tower is fun to climb and overlook everything, and there is a cute gift shop as well. Oh and all of the staff are super friendly people! Definitely worth visiting for all ages!

It was the peak of the blue bonnet season, so it was BUSY. You may need to park further away and walk a few blocks during peak flower seasons. Staff were very helpful and around to help. The viewing tower was neat, although people with mobility issues may not be able to access it. Most paths are brick paved or gravel. If you are pale or burn easily, sunscreen WILL be necessary as there's not a ton of shade. Lots of pictures and opportunities. A free-play area and tree swings looked fun for kids. A great balance of views and informative plaques and a great way to get outside into nature.

I and my daughter loved it! And the best part is that it is free for UT affiliated people. I would take one star off just because of restrooms which were very smelly and not as clean as I expected.

This is a relatively small place, shouldn't take more than 2 hours to see most of what they offer if you're a slow walker. It was gorgeous and packed with many wildflowers, a really great location for kids to hike as well. I would definitely go back for hiking and just being in the outdoors in general.

Great place if you enjoy flower blooms and trees. Informative free volunteer tour that is definitely worth it. Wonderful things for young children to do. The Cafe was wonderful and the Mushroom Arugula Sandwich with its tangy pesto was delicious! Worth it for a day visit!. Great barefooting experience to walk the trails and experience nature up close!

There is nothing to do here for adults for such an expensive place to visit. All flowers are dead in December & there is no shows or light shows during the daytime. Perhaps this is good for kids to spend time outside. Our visit has been a complete disappointment and the staff are not allowed to process a refund. Shame on Wildflower center, there are many nicer places to visit at no cost or little cost all over North America.

For clarity's sake of this review I must say that I was attending a special event there in the evening in the auditorium. It was a KUT symposium on landscaping and how we can use that to prevent climate change and adverse effects to our city with the incorporation of more green spaces, green roofs and pocket prairies along with the use of alternatives to lawns. The facility itself is quite impressive and very well kept. It has a wonderful spacious layout and a lot of beautiful yet organic feeling design work. The auditorium itself is quite impressive with its seating and ability to host a large group for the audio-visual movie presentations or for hosting a symposium type situation . The staff that was there was quite friendly and very professional and everything went according to plan and schedule. The gardens in the evening with the Twilight into darkness time was very beautiful to see also. The lighting is pretty and tasteful, yet not overly bright or ostentatious. For this special event hosting, I have to highly recommend the Lady Bird Johnson wildflower center and award them a five-star review.

Our family spent the most wonderful day at the Wildflower Center remembering our Aunt MaryAnne it was a very special day. The kids and adults looked enjoyed the gardens and the amenities! We will definitely be back. This is a great place to explore and learn; but also walk and find peace.

Amazing place to visit and hike! Full of beautiful views and wild flowers . They have playground and picnic areas, where you can enjoy the nature. Definitely a good option for sunny days!

Very pretty place to come visit! It was $15 to enter and we bought the tickets online. We came on a Saturday around 11am and it was packed! We had to park several blocks away and walk over since the parking lots were completely full. Lots of pretty wildflowers and water features.

I always leave this place feeling refreshed and at peace. The flowers weren't out today, but come Spring/Summer the flowers will be at full bloom. Great place to take a date or have some quiet time alone with nature :)

Absolutely stunning! This place is incredible. Staff is super friendly and helpful, grounds are jaw dropping even in late February. Butterflies everywhere. There’s plenty to see and do including lots of energy spending activities for kids. Signage everywhere with lots of education about what you’re seeing. I really appreciated how walking friendly the paths were with lots of signage so you don’t get lost. I spend several hours here and will be back for more. Truly a jewel in Austin’s crown.

It is amazing the difference from my first visit that was in winter. No wonder why in spring there is barely any parking outside, and even a queue to enter. But once inside there is enough trails and space for everyone. Full of bluebonnets in spring, I loved it!

Twilight Tuesday. Evening stroll amongst beautiful naturalized wildflowers. This is different because the park is after hours. A couple food trucks and some adult beverage were available. My biggest complaint was a lack of seating near the food (oh! There are 3 hidden picnic tables behind one truck) and a lack of waste receptacles. I had been here previously, and the gift shop used to be a favorite. That was clearly in transition, as the gift items are now sparse and fairly expensive. It appears artwork is being featured instead of souvenirs.

I love seeing all the native wildflowers. Gives me a lot of inspiration for my yard. Parking was difficult and the walk to get there was a tad bit too far for someone who is disabled. Worth it though.

The track itself is nice. Makes for some good racing. I went during the F1 weekend and camped in lot N. They price gouge for everything. Food is 4x normal price, souvenirs are double what you get them for on the official website, and you can't bring anything in from outside. If you come general admission (grass seating only) is oversold these days and it makes for a packed experience. But it's still a great weekend of racing. Lot N camping is very noisy, 1/2 the people run open frame generators all night, there is no enforcement of noise rules at all. Overall. The place is well managed, good directions around, tons of food stands, bathrooms, etc for the crowd size. Come to races very early to get good seats, expect to spend a ton, and have a good time. If they either allowed outside food/drinks or made the prices reasonable, it would be 4 star. 5 star would need to enforce some sort of noise rules or get a bit more space for people. Compared to other tracks I've been to, this is the best track, but not the greatest experience.

Came for the Noel Gallagher show. This is one of the best venues I've ever been to. Our seats were incredible and the sound was immaculate. Service was super friendly. Great selection of beers. Love the metal cups. Would see another show here any time.

Amazing place, Amazing experience. Getting there it's a little bit challenging if you can't walk long distances, parking depending of the event, can get EXTREMELY PRICEY and the cheaper spots are obviously far. Other than that, everything is very organized, important Police presence, people directing traffic to make things flow, others to guide you inside. Everyone had a great attitude, plenty of food options, drinks, it was just fun and exciting. The whole place looks beautiful, very well taken care of.

Such a cool racing track! You have an amazing view from whatever corner you’re sitting at. And of course you can never go wrong with F1 races here in Austin! Amazing crowds make the experience much more fun. Lots of food vendor options and activities for people of all ages. They also have an observation deck with views of the track.

Peppermint parkway is by far one of the best light shows you can attend during Christmas in Austin! The drive is convenient for those with Children that want to stay out of the cold or to avoid winter weather and it's a beautiful drive! Millions of lights and a great selection of displays. For those that want to visit the village it's packed with fun activities, rides and delicious holiday food and drink options. Fun and convenient for the whole family!

I visited this place because my son loves go kart. It was a nice place to visit. Recommend for teens and up. Book ahead because it does get busy. Nice thing to do in Austin if you are visiting.

Outdoor events in the summer time in Texas are off putting to me, but it wasn't as bad as I thought. We went for the Godsmack/Stained concert on 8/30. There were plenty of places for food and drinks and water refill stations. Indoor bathrooms were close by and clean.

Had an unreal time at Circuit of the America’s! I was originally going to go for a Cars and Coffee event but it got canceled. Since I was still in the area I still went cause I’d never been there. I was nervous driving around the grounds cause I thought I wasn’t allowed but I was able to park and walk around some amazing cars! I took a shuttle to the observation deck (which was $10 so not bad!) and had a great time. All the people working there were lovely. If you’re a car enthusiast, definitely a must visit.

I got tickets online for the peppermint parkway and the plaza which came with 10 tickets. I also got scammed into purchasing the fast pass which not one person mentioned at any ride or around the raceway. Anyways, ten tickets was more than enough for 2 kids as we had purchased ten more and had to frantically use them up at the end of the night. There were a lot of cute photo ops and plenty to see. The staff was incredibly friendly. My kids had a lot of fun. Really the only complaint I had was the fast pass ordeal. Cool place overall.

Pros - The actual track is amazing,. The main entrance is beautiful and for F1 weekend there were plenty of Porta potties and the main restroom was wonderfully air-conditioned with very organized attendants. The race itself on Sunday was spectacular and the events all weekend were fun entertainment. Cons - parking, getting in and out was awful. Hour and 22 minutes to park and 3 hours to get out from Lot F on Sunday race day. Traffic controllers were awful. Food selection while good, lines were so long to get anything to eat or drink, sometimes an hour wait and there were no water bottles to be bought by noon on Sunday. We saw plenty of space where additional food stands or even food trucks could be, to alleviate the long lines and time spent waiting!!! Same with particular merchandise...cleared out by Saturday which was extremely disappointing. Sign posting and lighting inside the track needs improvement and especially for people that are coming in for the first time. Organizers need to go back to the drawing board! The large crowds were expected as seen in ticket sales therefore a much better action plan should have been executed. Just hoping Miami goes a little smoother!

My first in person F1 event and it was everything that I expected. It was so much fun and the cars were amazing to watch. Festival like atmosphere and everyone was so friendly. Plenty of food choices and lots of rest rooms. The only downside is if you park in Lot R be prepared to walk a lot. We had 20,000 steps round trip each day from our car to Section 9. Shuttle service is non-existent from our to Lot R. Shuttle service in general is very lacking for a event like this. I give it 5 Stars for the event and 1 Star for the parking.

Great venue! Honestly, it's the best venue I've visited out of all the NASCAR tracks that I've visited (8). The general admission tickets were prices perfectly and the amount of vantage points were great. You'll have a lot of fun.

Had a great time at the culture club, Berlin and Howard Jones concert. Bought a VIP table up in the Tower Club and was totally worth it in the hundred degree plus weather not to mention we had our own entry and we didn't have to stand in line at the gates. Private bar with your own waitress or waiter, shade, table to put your food, and air condition bathrooms just for your area. Staff was friendly and gave us a great experience. At the end we discovered that there was a roller coaster and some other rides that were included if we so chose to use them. Overall seems to have improved from the last time I was there about 9 years ago. Will definitely be returning.

Great facilities. Easy in and out. Family friendly and clean. Racing was great. Wish the screens in turn 15 to 16 were a little bigger but they worked.

When I post this and say that it was free that's because I was a team member visiting the track. It was an excellent experience. I have been before with NASCAR teams but this is my first trans-am event which I thoroughly enjoyed. With one notable exception, who shall remain nameless I found the track staff to be ready, courteous and helpful. They were in the process of putting up the Christmas light display and from what I saw it will be truly amazing. Although I did not have a chance to enjoy it first hand.

You want me to come back? Don't try to make all your yearly income in one weekend. $20 for a subpar ("premium"?) can of beer flavored water. Over $30 for a plate of food. The race track layout is good. Resurface it! As F1 drivers were asking for years. Run shuttle to ALL parking lots you charge obnoxious fees for, I'm not here for a hiking trip. You were so not ready for the hot weather weekend, I saw people fading in the line for food, multiple people. Some umbrellas maybe? I'm not asking for cooling fog stations. Still wondering why attendance is dropping for your biggest event of the year?

Came here for the Besame Mucho festival! I had such a great experience seeing so many bands and musicians! This was a whole day event, you need to make sure to bring comfortable should because you’ll find some areas that are grass and others that are with rocks. Other than that, this was such a nice experience here for the festival. Can’t wait for the next one!

Great racing! But I really thought the logistics of getting in and out of the parking lot would have been hashed out by now. Definitely need some more pedestrian walkways from the track to the lot to avoid all the traffic. Plus more seat ushers are needed in the Grandstands. Too many people with out tickets crowding the area for people with tickets.

Went in December for the Peppermint Parkway event and was blown away the walkable events once we got through the light trail. I recommend buying tickets for the fair online as they are cheaper and there are rides worth checking out: roller coaster, Ferris wheel, large carnival rides. Hot cocoa was cheapest at a food truck at $4.75 and $5 everywhere else.

Great experience for the family! Good vendors, cool attractions, and, of course, NASCAR! My twins even got to race. Did I mention that Micheal Jordan was supporting his race team from the stands?

I have gone to F1 since they opened the track in 2012. This was the hottest weekend by far. They were not ready for this. There weren't enough shaded areas, and people were passing out by heat exhaustion. The food options are good, and the prices are what you would expect at an event like this. We purchased a parking pass when we purchased our tickets, highly recommended. Also, I would suggest booking your hotel immediately as hotels book up quickly. I LOVE Formula 1.. I loved seeing Qween with Adam Lambert. It was a GREAT concert.

The electric expo event here was so much fun and organized well. Unfortunately there was a Tesla driver early on Sunday who ruined it for the rest of us and crashed, so we were maxed at 55 mph, but still got to drive on the track which was an incredible experience by itself! Not to mention the Ford drifting demo, my driver Notorious Nick was insane and awesome! I had a great time and got some cool swag but it's kind of like going to an amusement park. You wait in line 30-1hr but you don't get to ride the roller coaster, you're just driving a car down the street 😂 That said, I did get to drive a Porsche, Tesla and BMW (the BMW on the Cota track, the others were on the city street) along with the Ford drifting demo and that took almost all of 5 hrs, but it's definitely recommended if you're interested in all things electric.

Be sure you have a great experience with your school too soon for a great time to be in the room and be a part to the back patio area so good

This university doesn't want to admit me even though I am highly qualified. I suspect it is because I am an intelligent woman & they would never want to admit me for this reason even though I am the smartest person in the room. Why would anyone want to go here if they treat intelligent, qualified applicants like garbage & waste their time entirely? Don't bother to apply. They are a worthless, idiotic, insulting bunch of losers. Someone should close the school down forever for all I care. They are not worth knowing at this institution.

Great sprawling campus. Visited the Thompson Conference center for a graduation ceremony. The venue is located close to the LBJ presidential library. There are various pictures of famous people hanging in the hallway. The floor looks like it’s made of marble or white quartz, super fancy looking. The grounds outside look pristine.

Graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture 5 year degree. That set me up for life with many life skills, a very rich environment there to be had. I could not get this type of education anywhere else.

My experience as a student at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor has been nothing short of amazing! The campus is not only stunning but also buzzing with energy. The professors are world-class, and the wide range of academic programs ensures there's something for everyone. The resources available, from the libraries to research opportunities, are unparalleled. What truly stands out, though, is the sense of community and school spirit. Whether it's cheering for the Wolverines at the Big House or collaborating with fellow students on projects, being part of UMich is an unforgettable journey. I'm proud to call myself a Michigan student, and it's a definite five-star institution!

Harvard university would ever replace UT Austin was so this amazing country story before the new skyline. You could see country love stories in the restaurants it all vanity running wild. Really hope the new generation of new graduates of UT understand its preservation of spirit of Texas hope love being a free and humble cowboy. Such an amazing experience to go bar b q events at the football games. UT at Austin professors are very aware that the governor manipulates the board of regents with his pick of his loyal "choosen". Professors really want students to be aware of unpractical this state's shortcomings Texas blackout people died lack of planning professors have been aware of souths evil have you fight back change Texas for the better. Texas before George Bush destroyed the simplicity of majesty in Texas it was this rustic love story. Seize the century to make Texas better sadly alot of poor Texans were killed in Iraq War mainly to move a war machine. So that men can be humble enjoy the green meadows of Texas with their love of their life. Spirit of Texas. Love crosses the border.

Stayed here one night for the Texas vs Baylor game in November. Horrible experience my room was nasty, sticky stuff on the night stand. Valet Parking is RIDICULOUS HIGH. Then the valet crew members changed all the settings in my truck along with radio stations etc. I called and ask them why they did this and some punk gets an attitude with asking me well what did it hurt just change it back. I WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN!!

They UT just pushed through state legislation that allows them to revoke your degree. Thats right they can take it back away from you after you have paid for it. At any time after the fact. For the rest of your life. With little to no chance to fight it. Have fun with that!

Extremely clean and organized, very good location in the downtown, they are hosting the best entertainment events, unfortunately the parking near by is very expensive, stair ting at $40 FYI

The best place to go for a cheap price!! Like $7 for parking. Dog friendly. U can rent little boats or bring yours. There's the pool or the river. Not packed at all. Alot of shade, no insects, and no pollution. Clean water

There is no entrance fee. Barton Springs Pool and Zilker Botanical Garden charge a small fee to enter. Popular park located in the middle of the city. Lots of people exercising, walking with their dogs. Picnic tables and portable restrooms available. Nice green area.

Zilker Park is the best! It's a MASSIVE public park near the river with stunning views of the city. There's parking, sand volleyball courts, trails and even a botanical garden. There's even a mini train for kids that goes through a rainbow-painted tunnel. If you go, bring a picnic blanket and be prepared to see lots of dogs!

Love this park! If you visit Austin, this is a must visit to come relax at the park, play some sports or even just picnic with friends and dogs all around you. Super fun and the views of downtown are amazing. Be mindful of the hundreds of dogs running free, so if you are eating, you will most likely get dogs sniffing around :)

Zilker Park is amazing. There is so much to do here that you can't cover it all in 1 day...and I can cover Universal Studios Hollywood in 1 day...so it's saying alot! Love the park, river, a gigantic pool with diving board, playgrounds with train rides, bike paths, walking/jogging paths, food trucks, picnic areas, romantic views and benches to chat for hours. It's one of Austin's Gems!

Nice park but very little shade and no water at all. we were there on a very hot day and it was very hard to be there. The rock area was nice and shady and near the river there were some trees, but mainly a lot of grass in the open. I recommended to go early morning or near evening on the spring and summer days

I live in Dallas and every time I can I tried to escape to Austin specifically for this park it’s a wide open and wonderful park dogs thrive here, you can have a picnic, lay out, play soccer and other activities. I prefer coming in the morning there’s lot of things to do biking, frisbee, and eating from the food trucks, sometimes there’s ice cream too. Usually the sun is out and it’s all green and great all lively too city is a great backdrop. The river runs through with countless people engaging in water activities.

Hard to put into words how beautiful this park is; I come here every weekend to see the sunset. Zilker is a perfect spot to hangout with friends, brunch with family, or have a cute date with your loved ones. Make sure you bring a blanket with you.

Was not impressed with the pool/ lake itself as the water did not seem clean. I was not there for the swimming but wanted to see as I was visiting from out of state. I did Love ❤️ the leash free dog park! Lots of people out enjoying the park and obviously dog friendly. Also, if you want to see the Austin bats, this is the place to be. Great spot for 📸.

The natural beauty of the park is wonderful. There is a lack of signage for the areas inside the park. We could not reach the Zilker botanical park because there were not enough signs to guide us. Unfortunately it is not a useful park for elderly and overweight people.

Awesome park. Visited the Botanical Garden. Volunteer at the gate was very friendly and informative, as we had never been there before. The koi fish were beautiful and very friendly. Nice paths to the side to get some extra quiet time. Even though it is next to the highway the sound is not distracting. Would very much recommend going and it is absolutely worth the price of admission.

This previous Saturday was my first visit to Zilker and the famous Barton Springs pool. This green space in the heart of Austin Texas is a must see when visiting. The trails are in great condition and nature abounds throughout. We did not get to see all that it had to offer and I feel more than 1 day is needed in this beautiful area. My only issue is the lack of regulation for things going on at the springs. Numerous women and men decided that changing clothes from their swimming attire to their street attire was a public event. I would like to say this isn't common here, but I'm not entirely sure that it is not. Other than that, what a great day!

A great park for taking my dog on a walk. Recommend the north side with the open space for off-leash walking. Beautiful view and plenty of parking.

Went to the park for the Trail of Lights Holiday event. I really enjoyed how they decorated the trees, but the show was honestly a bit underwhelming. It was not even a mile of lights. We spent more time driving and trying to park than actually walking through the light show.

It was a beautiful walk. Very peaceful even though there were lots of people enjoying their time there too. It was amazing to watch a man make sculptures in the water with rocks.

Always fun things happening here and several trails connect to the park. Volleyball, lawn areas, lake access and many festivals throughout the year. One favorite of the Trail of Lights. Walk around entire park with amazing light displays, photo ops, s’mores stations, snacks and beverages for sale. Very affordable at less than $10 per person. Pay for parking though ahead for the holiday lights.

This is such a great park. They have multiple shows and events throughout the year. From ACL to the Kite Festival. Also has trails that run around the park. Which are cool to walk the dogs on. Also has great views for downtown. Check it out and enjoy the great weather.

I am a current resident who has been at The District for ~2 years. The complex has both notable advantages and shortcomings. It excels in having agreeable management, secure parking, a semi-walkable location and a quick and effective maintenance crew. However, the cost is somewhat high for the quality of the apartment space itself, and despite being a fairly new building, the thickness of the walls leaves something to be desired. One thing to note about renting here- I would recommend ensuring whether or not the space will have a balcony, as it is a toss up as to which units have one and which don't. I was led to believe I would have access to one (including pictures of the unit), only to discover upon move in that was not the case. That particular shortcoming will likely be the reason I will look elsewhere when the time comes to renew my lease- however, the location and management are enough for me to recommend the District at SoCo to potential renters.
