Went here 10/22 with my family. Everyone really enjoyed seeing the trains. We went early on a Saturday morning and had a great time. The docents really make the exhibits come alive as they tell the stories of the era. They have a bunch of exhibits telling the stories of the immigrant workers. There are train rides during the day and various events. Upstairs they have a number of hands on exhibits as well as play area for toddlers with train themes. They also have an extensive collection of model trains which was almost as interesting as the real trains. They are remodeling part of the museum when we visited but it didn’t get in our way.

It was the most beautiful concert I have ever been to in person with live instruments. The candles definitely set the mood although they weren’t real candles. It was definitely better to have fake ones that last at all night with no heat in the room since it was already hot in Sacramento, the musicians were phenomenal. The music performed was very exceptional and delightful. I had the best time ever definitely worth the 2 Hour Drive

What a wonderful place to be! My son, daughter and husband LOVE trains so this is always as easy stop when we are in Sacramento! I would definitely give 3-4 hrs to explore and have fun! If you can stay for longer there is plenty to see and do in and around the museum. On top of seeing full size train engines there is a lot of history, displays and trains you can actually get inside and walk around. One even moves said your currently out on the rails. Don’t miss the upstairs! A cute little play area for younger kids, an interactive miniature train village and some STEM play as well. You can also arrange to go on ride as they have a train that goes a couple times a day. It goes down a couple miles then comes right back. I highly recommend stopping by! The gift shop is alot a favorite of ours!

We visited from Oregon and this museum is amazing! We brought our whole family and there’s so many things to do for adults and children. We were very impressed. The upstairs has a dedicated area for smaller children and has lots of model trains.

This is a great and well-maintained museum of railroad history in Sacramento, California. We visited on a weekday morning, and there was no rush. Different tickets are available for adults and children. This museum appeals to people of all ages. On Level 1, there is an extensive display of locomotives and carriages from the transcontinental railroad era, providing a fascinating glimpse into railway history. The top floor (Level 3) houses an amazing collection of toy trains, with several of them operational. Additionally, there is a designated train play area for kids. The docents are welcoming and knowledgeable, offering a wealth of stories and information. While excursion train rides are available, it's important to note that these are separate from the museum entrance. Be sure to check out the gift shop, which offers a wide range of collections including toy trains, keychains, books, coins, caps, cups, and more. I highly recommend visiting this museum; it's a worthwhile experience for everyone.

This is a fantastic train museum exhibit wise. Many train museums have a lot of rolling stock including a lot outdoors where as the amount of rolling stock here is more limited but the restoration quality on most of the cars and locomotives is excellent. The layout and displays are in depth and cover the important rail history of California in particular but also generally. In addition to the ground floor displays including a handful of cars you can go through there is an extensive display of model railroads on the third floor. A small children's play area and a 5 car train on tracks on that same level as well. For the price a really great value and place you can spend a few hours with young and old a like.

Everyone should take a railroad ride, it doesn't cost much. The trip is short but fun, especially when the train changes tracks on the turntable. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and happy-go-lucky. I would recommend this excursion to everyone. This was my first ride. It was exciting to discover how it works. Bring the kids. They will truly love it.

I went to the California State Railroad Museum to see a candlelight concert (symphony). The concert was amazing. I was definitely intrigued by the trains. I must go back during regular business hours. If you have kids who like trains, this place is a must-see. The trains are absolutely stunning!

The Smithsonian of Sacramento. A joy for grown ups and kids alike documenting a key industry in US history. The numerous volunteers stationed amongst the trains and carriages dressed up in railroad regalia provided excellent commentary. Well worth admission with multiple interactive displays.

Such a great day! We got there when it opened, best because way less people. The kids had so much fun with them whole place. Loved the chalk, loved the toy trains, loved the dining car. My ten year old son loved asking all the questions and the attendants were so helpful and sweet. Great place to take kids. There is something amazing about kids just wanting to learn about the mechanics without having to prompt them. Trains are awesome! I've been before so today I just followed so the kids around and let them explore. Magical day!

I really like this museum and it's a big deal if you like railroad history. I first came here five years ago and have returned. I rode the train all the way from Detroit to visit it and it's worth the trip. They have equipment you won't see anywhere else. It's known around the world by railfans and it is easy to see why.

The museum is a great Wealth of information about Railroads, the history and very interesting artifacts. Ground floor has covered many historical events and trains while top floors has great toy trains collection etc and some fun play areas. We especially liked the experience of walking through those train compartments that have the effects to mimic the reality. There were employees dressed as the train staff in the exhibits. They were very patient and answered many questions from children. This visit should be included in field trips if school children. The gift shop is cute but the books were a bit expensive. There’s no food in the museum. The paid parking garage in front of the museum was very good.

This museum is one of the finest in the country. There are certainly larger railroad museums. But this one displays it's artifacts in a stunning and accessible way. They are objective and humane about the terrible experience of the Chinese immigrants who built the railroad across the Sierras. I highly recommend this museum for rail fans and California history buffs alike.

This place is an absolute gem! Don't let the unassuming entrance nor the vaguely disinterested ticket sales clerks fool you, this museum is absolutely amazing! Anyone would enjoy this place, regardless of their affinity for trains! I was truly impressed with every single exhibit. But, my favorite was the train we were able to walk through that had the sound, look, and feel of a train in actual motion. This place is astounding!

This is not only possibly the best railway museum in the world but also one of the best I've been to (maybe because I love old trains :). All possible trains, historical moments related to railways, especially in America, are represented. Everything is very nicely made and extremely interesting. It requires a lot of time to go around slowly, without rushing.

Lots of locomotives and cars, some of which you can enter, along with static exhibits devoted to the history of railroads and railroad people. It looked as though the kids in attendance were enjoying themselves, but there definitely are exhibits that older attendees will appreciate more. The Museum not only celebrates trains as amazing machines, but also reminds us of the importance of railroads in our history and culture. It is a member of ROAM, which means that you may be able to obtain free admission if you are a member of a museum that also is part of the ROAM network.

First time I go to a railroad museum, but he exceeded all my expectations. If you like learning about stuff or like trains, this is definitely a must stop to do. They have great history from the first train that existed in the United States now to the electric ones. You also learn how the Cole miners used to transport the Cole back in the day.

WOW! So much to see - definitely give yourself at least 2 hours (3+ if you want to read everything). Well worth the $12/adult we spent - I would have paid twice as much if not more. Incredible artistry and museum flow. One of the best museums I've ever seen. There are a few different floors (there is an elevator), one of which is all about toy trains. Gift shop had some really cool stuff as well. Afterward, give yourself plenty of time to explore the area - there's so much to do!

If you're train buff or looking to take your kids to something educational and fun and the whole family can enjoy. Then, take the time to go here. I truly enjoyed stepping back in time here.

Surprisingly Large museum with multiple floors of exhibits on both history and toy trains. One of the trains even simulates rocking motion. All kinds of media to read and look at and interact with. Very worth the value paid for the tickets!

A great way to spend time with family and friends. $12 for this huge selection of trains is one of the best deal museum. Clean environment. Although you can smell the old years from the train.

Loved this place. Everything is indoors now (last time I went was a few decades ago). The museum is very clean, and it has multiple restrooms inside the show room. There are multiple floors, and there are wheelchair lifts and elevators, but walking through the train cars is a tight squeeze. They have a free scavenger hunt for a little prize. There is a small gift shop with lots of train memorabilia. Parking is paid street or garage, and it's only a short (underground) walk from DoCo.

Went on a rainy week day so not crowded at all! Always so exciting to see old trains, they look classy and elegant. I particularly enjoyed the ones that's open for entering, not something you can do everyday unless you have a ticket, really gives you a brand new immersive lesson than just signs or videos alone. Although most of the mannequins other than the Chinese section were white dudes and I got spooked by a staff who sat in the car waiting to explain to guests. So beware of white dudes here, they could be real. They also offer the Polar Express train ride around Christmas time which we missed this time. If you're interested get the tickets as soon as you can!

This museum is amazing and very interesting and informative about both the good and the terrible in our history of the railroad tracks built across our country and the trains made that changed how people and goods could travel. The museum is very honest about everything that happened to the workers of all cultures, and gives credit to those who were unrecognized, dismissed, and who didn't survive in that era of such hard labor. I feel proud of all the women and those from other countries that showed their strength and grit and worked just as hard as the men leading them, and continued that work when American men went to war. You can listen to the stories and get on the trains in the museum and witness the beautiful and the tough that happened. Docents are throughout who add to the good and the bad stories. I highly recommend this museum. There are also kids' play areas and many small but elaborate train sets for kids and grownups to enjoy viewing, and some to purchase in the gift shop. I highly recommend spending hours at the museum, plus it's located in a great part of old downtown Sacramento with boardwalks, restaurants, music, and shops for taffy, candy, drinks, and much more.

Very immersive experience and a lot of fun. The dining and sleeping train were definitely highlight. Luxury already at that time period.Also really impressed with the details of many kinds of trains , with comprehensive knowledge and historical stories. Highly recommended.

Bad impression at first: the museum is closed. All of it. The rooms, the tours, the store - shut down. This is my third capital building and the least inviting. Every door was closed. If it wasn't for the open session and beautiful architecture, I would have been sorely disappointed. I was able to sit upstairs and listen in on the session which was a treat. I felt a measure of restored faith in humanity. They questioned finance on expenditures and voiced their concerns regarding project deadlines. All without trying to win a vote or hidden agenda. I'm not even a resident in this state, but to hear these politicians speaking up on behalf of the citizens was a breath of fresh air. If you have an hour, take the time and listen in. Side note: they have wall display cases for each county. Some are elaborate, some a simple and some are a disaster. It's the capital building - do better.

Great place to enjoy the parades. Went there for the first time and it was a nice experience. They are some beautiful status and great pieces of art to see. 👏

It's a state capital, full of history, its free. My children love to run around here, my older children and myself got an opportunity to watch the State Assembly in session, that was pretty amazing to see how it all worked. It's beautiful inside and out. Last we went they are doing construction so we only saw about half of the capital. It's worth a visit.

Video should make you giggle but I was serious. I had a great tour of the capital. Security was a breeze. There are some reconstruction happening so beware if that. It was wonderful to see the old offices but I was most impressed with the chambers. I didn’t get to see any actual legislative personnel but I got inspired. You can find paintings of all the known governors of California. Never been a black one, apparently. You’ll love the architecture and strong feel to the building. It’s like a bunker. There’s security and guides all over so you won’t get totally lost. The cafe was closed when I visited. I did get to visit the store. I decided to grab a tie. It’s beautiful and majestic, well maintained. Visiting this place could help us to have a better understanding about the United States history and how the government employment work back then. It’s renovating different sections of the building so very limited areas we can see. I’m glad we went there.

I'm going to start writing more positive reviews. I'm tired of writing negative reviews about as much as everyone is tired of reading them. But the state capital was a nice Lil trip. Enjoyed myself very much. It was good changing up the Sean. I liked it very much.

I really liked that there is a transparency and openness when you come to a Capitol. First, check what are the operating hours. I took a tour at about 12pm. The guide was a very friendly and emotional person. He told amazing facts about California and capitol itself. Just keep in mind many parking lots in downtown are not free.

The number one tourist place in Sacramento, CA, is the State Capitol. As the state capital, it is full of rich history. The entrance is free, and both the interior and exterior are exceptionally beautiful. It is definitely worth a visit, as you can have great historical experiences here. They offer free tours, but it's advisable to check their website for specific days and times. If you're in Sacramento, don't miss the opportunity to visit this wonderful building. The pictures on the walls depict the history of senators. The building is maintained perfectly, and the architecture is commendable!

I've always loved the outside, it's even more beautiful on the inside! The details put into the carving and architecture are breathtaking. The history is inspiring!

Got to walk around the capitol. Some rooms have been turned into a museum showing life in the capitol around 1906. Also did the tour which was very informative and interesting. Definitely worth the time!

Great place to spend some time. It’s free to visit and you need to pass security. We were here for about 1-2 hours and saw a lot of things. In the basement is a gift shop with great items.

We had a tour here, and the whole family loved it. I personally appreciate the tour guys who work there. They do it with so much love, and they talk about it with so much passion. They do such a great job. All together, it's a good place if you want to know and see some California history. P.S it's under construction right now but still open for the public

Beautiful building of a Californian government and museum under one roof. The whole building is A/Ced and you can get some refreshments from the bistro on the ground floor. If you like to find out more about California, put your name down on the list for a guided tour (free of charge). We really enjoyed our time over here and I can recommend it to anybody.

We were visiting Sacramento and decided to check out the California State Capitol. It was built in a Neoclassical style by prominent architect Reuben S. Clark in 1874. At one corner there is a Capital Mall and on another side, there is Capitol Park. The Capitol Museum is on the grounds of the Capitol. It is free to enter on weekdays. We couldn't enter the museum because it was a weekend, so we roamed around the park. Remember to check out the website before visiting about closures and reservations.

This museum is GORGEOUS. The fashion, the paintings, the ceramics, the art pieces... All absolutely amazing. The museum is very neat, open and quiet. There's staff nearby in every section. Bathrooms are pristine. The atmosphere is peaceful and inviting. Overall, a great experience! Side note: I'd recommend you set aside 2 hours to see the whole place.

Beautiful location to explore. Combines modern with Victorian, so easy to get lost in the art. It's a place I could stay for hours, lighting was never too harsh but never so dark that I couldn't see the art. Great collections with beautiful sections. Easily will go more than once.

Great collection of early 19th to 20th century californian paintings esp of landscapes giving us a good idea of how these places looked like in that era. The building itself has a fascinating history too. Huge collection of pottery and native baskets too. Great museum of arts. Highly recommended.

Our family had a very relaxing, and beautiful experience here. The museum is as beautiful, and clean as it was when i visited as a child. There is so much beautiful art and architecture to look at. We came for a classical concert on a Sunday. Highly recommend if you are in Sacramento.

Went for Baby Loves Art; My 8 month old really enjoyed it as did we. They assign a gallery and have a play area set up within the gallery as well - super thoughtful. Afterwards, we explored other exhibits before heading out.

A lot of fine art and a three hour walk within the building and I feel like we still didn’t get to look at everything. There’s so much to see so many beautiful paintings, historical artifacts, and sculptures. It’s a nice place for a family get together to go really see some history, there was a story about a Native American woman whose son was taken from her and placed in a Catholic church school It really caught my attention.

Was so surprised at how great this not-so-little museum is! We expected to be in and out in less than 2 hours, but spent 3 and still didn’t see everything. I particularly enjoyed the explanations accompanying each work — by far the best I’ve seen (and I’m a pretty frequent museum-goer), and I found that taking the time to read the blurbs really enhanced my understanding of the work. From explanations about the artists’ lives and influences, historical and political implications, and discussions of the materials used, these write-ups also included tips of what to look for — some of which I otherwise would have missed. This is a great way to spend an afternoon — whether you’re a visitor to Sacramento, or a resident who just hasn’t visited the Crocker yet!

As museums go, I would rate Crocker among the top. The Candy Store Gallery is a must see and during our trip, we spent 4+ hours in the gallery and 60% of that was in the Candy Store Gallery. The docents reach out to engage and are so knowledgeable - the stories captivate and get you to appreciate what is in front of you. A must stop for any museum lover visiting Sacramento.

Visited for free as part of the Bank of America Museums on Us Program. An absolutely beautiful massive collection of art. It can be a bit confusing to navigate all the different rooms spread across multiple levels but you almost want to get lost in the variety. So many different styles, artists, mediums. My favorite are the glass art pieces. Extremely beautiful. Plentiful parking when we visited as well and inexpensive street parking nearby.

I've lived in Sacramento my whole life and somehow had never been to the Crocker Art Museum. I have walked and driven past it numerous times and have always wondered if it was worth a visit and I finally know that the answer is a resounding YES! This is a wonderful place to visit solo, with friends and family, with kids, etc. There's something for everyone to see. The docent led tours are a must for newbies and there is even a special tour for kids that is offered on the 1st and 3rd sunday of every month. My 6 and 7 year old children loved it and stayed engaged throughout the approximately 1 hour long tour through the 2nd and 3rd floors of the museum. The docent was very knowledgeable about the exhibits and the local history and made it fun for kids and adults. There is a large courtyard area for kids to eat and run around outside and an indoor tots area with playhouses and other montessori inspired toys. There's a small cafe inside but food and drinks must be enjoyed on the 1st floor only. Overall this is a great place to visit to see art and learn about local history for a reasonable price.

Had a really pleasant experience visiting this place! It's got a mix of contemporary and classic artworks which is pretty cool. The architecture is a real treat too – it's like a blend of traditional and modern styles. There's a lot to see and take in. Definitely a must-visit!

This museum has a bit of everything: modern, classic, ancient, ceramics, sculptures, glass work, weavings and tapestries, mixed media, and so much more. It’s a great museum that spans a few buildings with tall ceilings and a quiet atmosphere. There is paid parking across the street.

I live in Sacramento for about 12 years and this is the first time I've ever gone to the museum! I can't believe this is my first time, just now going! My wife and I are getting ready to celebrate our 9-year anniversary on the 31st. We planned a day out together to just go around Sacramento and enjoy some of the attractions and activities right here at home for the day. This was one of them. For me, I absolutely love the original museum because I enjoy historic buildings. The stairwell and the tile work, everything about it was just really amazing to me. I absolutely loved it. When we went over to the newer building where there was actually more art to be seen, that was enjoyable as well. Some of the pieces were very are inspiring. There are three that really stood out. The giant mural of the old man, the father, was really amazing. Also the AI exhibit turned out to be one of the most fun components of the museum. Stating a phrase, thought or an idea and that it coming up with a drawing that represents that was fun to see. Very interesting indeed. There is even a time that my wife was trying to push the button and I wasn't ready yet and so we kind of had a little bicker with her trying to get me to go and I wasn't ready, so I bickered back and it actually captured a little bit of our Tiff and drew a picture of a man and wife arm wrestling - lol. I thought that was actually pretty amazing. We ended up printing that one out and keeping it. Smiling the whole time. In total we spent 3 hours there. If a person doesn't engage in the AI portion and, goes through everything quickly without stopping to really take it in from time to time--I'm sure they can get through it in an hour and a half to 2 hours or so. But we took our time. I appreciate that they also recognize veterans and gave me a discount on the admission as a result. That's always a nice touch. Parking was nice and easy and the day was beautiful. As a matter of fact when we were done we just went for a little scooter ride around the area:-) Also, the views from the upper levels of the new building are really incredible. Everything was just really well done. I didn't know if I would like it that much but I've never been and so we went. My wife went once way back in high school, she found that she enjoyed it too. She's an artist, she paints acrylic on canvas. I write music sing and dance. That's my art form. It was nice to see such a diverse collection of painted art as well as crafts. I definitely say get there late morning or early afternoon. The timing of that seems to work well. We went to a late breakfast prior, and then drove straight there. We got there around 10:50am or so, then by the time we were done at 1:50pm, we were ready for a light lunch. Sacramento was filled with things to do right here at home. Oftentimes for anniversary celebrations, I book something out of town or some sort of a mini trip. This year we decided we wanted to stay close to home. We filled our day with breakfast, crocker Art museum, walking around downtown, riding scooters downtown, little clothes shopping, a movie, a fun hip place for dinner and dessert and then home. It was a lovely day. I think about it often. It was really just nice to be out with my wife like this. We have five kids, this felt good. Kind of like just dating again just being young and fun. I look forward to many more memories with her like this :-)

Beautiful place. I'm a member so I try to come every few months when they switch the traveling exhibits. The children's playroom is so cute and interactive and the outside is just as beautiful as the inside.

I was here for a wedding as the photographer! It was an amazing experience for me. Staff was on point! (normally, as the photographer, I'm time managing for the bride and keeping things on track) it was a smooth experience and a pleasant one. Staff were a joy to work with! I will be suggesting this venue from now on! On a personal level... I was so happy to be back home and in a familiar childhood favorite place. The Sac Zoo will always hold a place in my heart, and even more so now that I've had an amazing adult experience as well! Thanks guys. 💗

I'm legally blind so I need assistance walking around and it was extremely easy to walk all throughout the park! If you have a membership you can avoid the line even though the line was not long at all that Sunday we went and moved quite quickly! Lots of fun for the family! A little sad there was no lion or at least we didn't see it but there was a lioness! Some animals I've never even heard of before so it was such a great learning experience!

Great zoo! Excellent experience on a Sunday morning, not too busy and most animals were out and about. Loved Mae Lynn the Two-toed Sloth as well as the hawk-faced parrot. Meerkats and the river otter were also favorites. They also have almost every big cat you would want to see here.

We really enjoyed the Zoo. I really like the idea that if you book a few days in advance you get a discount. I also liked the encouragement to take a picture of the map of the zoo rather than a printed one or an app. We were pretty lucky to get a good view of most animals, particularly my an my little one favourites

It was a good experience. It was a nice walk to see all the animals. I especially liked looking at the Red Panda. I enjoyed watching the new kids movie about the Red Panda. All the animals look like they had a good amount of space in there living area. Good selection of food and snacks. Need more sitting benches. It was a Great day with my boyfriends family.

It's a nice zoo. Small and quaint. Nice to be able to get outside, walk around the zoo, and enjoy the sunny weather. My husband and I don't have children, but this zoo has many areas where children can let out their energy and excitement as they see the various animals. The gift shop had beautiful wooden ornaments. We try to find an ornament at each place we visit to commemorate the adventure. The zoo's gift shop had several to choose from, and they were all beautiful. We weren't there very long, but we did pack snacks in case we needed a snack. Luckily, reinforcements weren't needed this time. Hope you enjoy your visit.

Good place to visit if you are with kids. Parking was difficult to find close by. Once you are inside take a picture of the map. I suggest you should get in line to feed the giraffes (10am-11am), you can purchase 2 lettuce leafs for $5. You can see a lot of animals but unfortunately we could not see the chimpanzee, orangutans, red pandas and flamingos. One of my favorites was the reptile exhibit.

Help this awesome zoo as much as you can! The zoo has a great mission, and ambitious plans. Without our support, their dreams of a larger, more functional and impactful zoo may not come true. And they just delivered an amazing Orangutan baby Nangka! Not withholding the other youngsters. Keep up the good work Sac Zoo!!!

First 5 put in an installment of dinosaurs- they occasionally move & make noises, together with the animals it was delightful for young & older people to enjoy. Due to Avian flu, some of the birds are not on display. They had cheetahs, a lioness, a red panda, many birds, reptiles & amphibians, a white rhinoceros, giraffes, Okapi, zebras, lemurs & orangutans, etc. They had tasty food; 2 of us split pot roast in BBQ sauce & fries, they have pizza, Korean food- that looked delicious, burgers & ice cream & many drink choices. You can also bring a picnic. There is a small train & a play area. We just saw animals, dinosaurs & enjoyed carousel ride!

We went Saturday, November 4th for the first time. It was a ton of fun! We're two adults with no children, and still had a blast. Due to the avian flu, most of the birds aren't out on display. The flamingos had just been moved into an enclosed space that was recently vacated. You can also purchase alcohol drinks and walk around the zoo with them, which was a pleasant surprise. We were allowed to bring in water and snacks. One note, because a woman in front of us was incredibly rude to the employee working, they don't give out straws. This seemed pretty normal to us, straws and animals don't mix, but she was very displeased. So, bring your own metal straw if that's a concern of yours.

The Sacramento Zoo is a delightful escape for both children and adults. Nestled on 14.2 acres, it houses approximately 140 different species of animals, many of which are endangered. While it may not be the largest zoo, its well-kept grounds and variety of exhibits make it a charming destination. From majestic lions and tigers to graceful zebras and towering giraffes, the zoo offers the basics you’d expect. Additionally, you’ll find an array of birds, reptiles, and amphibians. While it doesn’t boast extravagant features, it’s perfect for a leisurely stroll and close-up encounters with fascinating creatures.

Always a joy to visit this zoo. I've lived in the are most of my life and was able to share the experience with out of town family. Purchased tickets online and skipped the line. The cheetah exhibit is where I remember the kangaroos being, they must have done that fairly recently. The cafe has a vegetarian option, but I was told that it's wasn't too good. The chicken sandwich and the Peruvian chocolate brownie was good though! Lots of seating available, and a well stocked gift shop. A definite must-see if you're visiting the area!

This was a great smaller zoo with lots of natural flora and fauna that lines the paths and enclosures. We got there right at opening so all the animals we being fed while it was cool. Really a nice variety of animals. Lots of benches and a play area for younger kids. Our family did the Animal Ambassador along with the Hooves and Horns behind the scenes tour. Both were amazing and involved endangered animals. The tours behind the scenes are a must! Chris and Jennifer were wonderful to work with to get both tours done. Would recommend it to anyone whom has a love for animals! Tip: Order tickets ahead to save a few bucks.

Sacramento Zoo is a great place to go! It’s typically not very crowded, and has a good assortment of animals to enjoy for a smaller zoo. Come towards zoo feeding time and you will be sure to experience seeing most of the animals out in their pens. I’ve been coming to this zoo since I was a young child and it hasn’t changed much, which I like. Fairy Tail Town and William Land Park are right across the street. Bring your kids or grandkids here for a fun day!

It is a good place for kids~ very family-friendly. A little on the small side of scale, but you do get to see some interesting animals~ my husband and I actually got to see the alligator being fed, I think they normally have a show around 11am. We also got to see a lion getting his teeth checked by the vet! It was pretty cool~

Cute zoo with beautiful landscaping. It is pretty small and easily walkable in a 1/2 day. (It's well paved and fairly flat so it's easily wheelchair accessible.) There is a playground area within the zoo and food is available. They rent double strollers and wheelchairs for about $15. At the time of this review they had a really cool dinosaur exhibit put up through the zoo. Many of the dinosaurs are huge and move and make sounds. They were a hit with the kids. The main negative is that it very expensive unless you buy season passes. Parking can also be difficult, especially on weekends. The best time to come for both parking and animal viewing is right when they open at 9am.

Very impressed with the quality of this zoo. This is a perfect place to take younger children. Lot of activities for them and the grounds aren’t too expansive to wear them out. Animals were all healthy and interactive. The grounds were clean and comfortable. Lots of shade and places to sit and take breaks. The surrounding area of the zoo was in a really nice part of town. Will definitely go back and recommend.

I really enjoyed this cute, little Zoo. There was a good variety of animals. The animals were pretty active. Some of the big cats weren't visible the first time I went around but because it's not a huge zoo I was able to double back and saw them when they were more visible. The zoo was impeccably clean and well maintained.

I had a great time!! I fed a giraffe it was so much fun and very cool. I rode a small kids train with my niece. The ride was great, and the young lady driving it was super sweet. The zoo also had awesome dinasours that moved and made sounds around the park. The animals were so beautiful to see. I love going to this zoo when visiting the area, and getting to enjoy it for the 1st time with my 3 year old niece was AMAZING. I would definitely recommend going if in the area!! I would also love to mention how nice the staff is...Great job!

Had a lot of fun. Concessions were a little pricey but there is a play area for small children where you can rest and relax for a bit. A decent variety of animals and activities to enjoy. Next the zoo there is a couple other parks with rides and plenty of grass fields to hang out in. Parking can be difficult if you go late in the day. Overall was a good experience for the kids.

It's such a cool and near place to explore.. I arrived at 9:30 am. I would suggest arriving after 11 am. When the animals are up and fully awake. The morning was a bit cooler. There are so many different varieties of animals to see. I little train ride it a must do.

First off the location is very easy to find and surrounded by other kid theme parks. Unfortunately it is also right next to a group of baseball fields used by Little Leagues. So since there is absolutely NO parking at all, it was a 10min drive to search for parking and a 15min walk to the zoo after parking 3 blocks over on the street. No parking means no disabled parking either! The zoo was very small, nothing was so spectacular that I would ever go back. Ticket prices are outrageous and food prices were worse! The food lines were also very long since the selections are so few. The train ride is ok and free but was about a 30min wait for it on a Saturday! The dinosaurs they had on display were more interesting and interactive than any of the animals! Food we got: hotdog, small and nothing special. Pretzel was good. Churros were “giant” but way too much cinnamon literally burned my throat! Unless you have small kids to ride the train or play on the play park, do not waste your time or money! Make the drive to Oakland!

We went to the zoo over the weekend. I was pleasantly surprised to see the animatronic dinosaur statues all over the zoo, my daughters loved them! We thought the australia exhibit was in a better spot and enjoyed seeing the kangaroos, zebra, giraffe, rhino, pretty much immediately! Disappointed to see that the chimpanzee /gorilla exhibit weren’t there anymore. Some small monkeys and a shy orangutan who didn’t come out of the shelter. Also, no flamingos, just a murky marsh. The playground was clean. The train car driving through a crowded area left me puzzled and on high alert. Can there be a painted train track or lane on the ground? It’s alarming that the train can drive through a crowd relying only on Disney songs playing on a loop to alert you. In addition, would love if more staff were present to engage with children and animals, to educate and play. Just a thought!

Good amount of animals, the snow leopard was my favorite. Easy to get around the zoo. The gift shop had a lot of different items. We also went, at night, to the UNEXTINCT experience, it was fantastic. I highly recommend it!

Cool place to visit. It was only $5 per person. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Only the middle building is original but they reconstructed the rest of the fort and it looks old enough to be original. It's cool to see how people used to live. And it's really cool how it's just in the middle of a neighborhood and across from the hospital. There was plenty of parking available on the street and the meters were free because it was Sunday.

This is a really great local piece of western American history. It's also great for local Sacramento history, but the significance really is to people who migrated out here due to gold and settling in the valley. What's interesting is that only the center building is original to Sutter's Fort. However, the rest of it had to be reconstructed and is almost 140 years old itself. So it's all quite old. Old. But the middle building is the only original structure left. There is a small gift shop and restrooms and drinking fountains throughout. Street parking only. I was able to park for less than $4 for 2 hours so that is very reasonable. Also, don't forget to check out the state Indian museum which is right next to it. Prices are the same. If you pay for one you don't get in free to the other one. State Indian museum also has a small gift shop as well. However no photos are allowed inside the state indian museum

The construction was still going so it was free to go in. Although I'm not sure if I would still give it a four star if it wasn't free. I went on a rainy day so it was pretty empty, I think I got a better experience because of that, even though a bunch of the rooms were closed. Honestly this was not the most beautiful fort I've seen, but I appreciated the significant role it played in history.

Our kids liked to see the turtles in the pond and feel the furs in the trapper area. They were baking bread and making rope when we were there. Interestingly, the red, green, and white flag is not an Italian flag, it was the old flag of Mexico.

I absolutely enjoyed my time here. I stopped on a whim as I was driving back from work. It was like going back in time. The woman (Diane?) who volunteers there on Fridays is so knowledgeable and passionate about sharing stories about the fort. I highly recommend checking this unique spot out.

Parts of the fort were under construction, so admission was free. We were still able to see several of the indoor rooms, as well as the central (original) building. Fun and educational, as always!

Sutter's Fort state historic Park a very beautiful clean and quiet Park and what a Amazing Place This is not to mention it was free because they're doing some renovating wish I can tell you how much they charge to get in but because it was free I can't tell you but what I could tell you is what a beautiful Park and the best of all we had most of this park to ourselves I'm not sure if it was because it was the day before Easter but it was a great day very beautiful not to mention the Indian Museum it's something to see if you haven't been there it was $5.00 per person to enter this is by Sutter's Fort walking distance and wait till you see this beautiful Pond they have there something to see if you're ever in the area take a look for yourself you won't regret it . The parking you have to pay the parking meter I paid $7.00 for 4 hours

This place within middle of Sac town! the best place to visit alone or with family if your historic junkie like me and mine😁 It's so so worth visiting You get to see so many actual rooms and and old shops just as they were. There even places you can walk below to see the actual underground area and cannon rooms and a place you can sit upstairs to even maybe have a little snack as you take break. To me and my family it's so worth visiting and enjoying. You will not regret visiting for a quick stop. And it's so affordable. The attendant are so nice too. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone ! If your just visiting Sac this is a great stop ! Thanks Sutters ! P.S I don't want to post all pics because I don't want to spoil the surprise !

3/4 of the exhibit is closed for remodeling. We got in for free that day (we still have them $20) and still had a wonderful time! Still plenty to see with only a quarter of the fort open! Go!

Great historical site! I hope California continues to fund these important pieces of our American Culture and history. I went while under renovation though I’ve been numerous times as a Sacramentan I’ve been here multiple times as a child. Sad to see the statue removed from across the street but still happy to see all the work being done to preserve. Also free during construction!

Sutter's Fort in midtown Sacramento is a wonderful place to visit. The fort itself has been restored and it is continually being restored to look like it did when it was first built. The history is incredible! If you have family or friends visiting our area, definitely take them to Sutter's Fort. They will not be disappointed.

Well-preserved historical site with friendly docents. Currently free because of some light construction. We went Sunday noon and had the entire place to ourselves.

it was free in early jan of 24 cause they were working on repairs and some of the rooms were closed, it was really informative and still had a lot of access, lots of history.

This self guided tour is an interesting look into the early history of California which includes information about the indigenous peoples who were here before Sutter. The artifacts from that era, tools and implements, were especially interesting to me as a woodworker.

This is a small trade center during the 1849s. It was free today but not sure if there is usually a fee. Definitely worth visiting if the admission is free

It's a very beautiful historic point of interest located in the heart of midtown. When I went most recently, it was free and open to everyone, but that was because they were undergoing some major construction so the park wasn't really bursting with life. I remember going here as a kid however and witnessing a reenactment of pioneer life. It's an experience I'll never forget and it taught me about where my people come from. If you're interested in learning some colonial history then there really is no better place to go.

This is a nice way to spend an hour or two if you are in the area and are interested in California history. There is a nice gift shop inside.

It's a lovely park with several cathartic monuments. A great place to walk and take pictures. There are many homeless people milling around, but besides that, it's a nice, quiet place to visit.

Best days there spent a lot of time three days and nights to much to see and do need to live in Sacramento California to enjoy everything it has to offer

Appreciated the variety of memorials dedicated to firemen, veterans of various wars, acknowledgent of ethnicities and inspirational advocates of justice. Not so much appreciative of the homeless camped out on the benches. Other than that, it was a beautiful day spent meandering around the manicured lawn and impressive trees.

It is a nice park for a city park with tons of homeless around. They kick the homeless out that have made camp during the night in the mornings. I have to walk through the park in the morning and afternoon to get to work. I don't go to this park to enjoy it but it is nice. Roses smell strong in the summer months. At the end of summer the orange trees provide food for anyone walking through. Right now there are apples! 😊

The gardens are beautiful. The rose garden is especially captivating when in bloom. There is the occasional homeless person finding rest in the gardens but overall it’s clean and well cared for.

The Sacramento Christmas Parade Dec 9, 2023 was great. As to the State Capital Park, most of the park bordering the east side of the Capitol is fenced off for renovation and replacement of that section of the Capital so you can't enjoy most of the park. The front of the Capital and that green area is nice.

It was enlightening, awesome and wonderful. I am proud of the fact that I live and have lived in Sacramento...Capital/home of this wonderful state of California. I born and raised in Los Angeles. I've been to most of the continental U.S. I proud to be a Cali native. The Christmas tree lit with a manger of Jesus was heart warming ♥ ❤ 💓 💖. Jesus is the reason for the season. It was awe inspiring to see.

Amazing place that looks beautiful but you have to pay for parking which is $1.75 for the hour from 8am-10pm and a lot of it’s under construction right now. Less homeless people then I thought however.

California State Capital Park is a very nicely done area, and other than Washington DC, probably the nicest grounds I've seen surrounding a state's capital. There are lots of opportunities to get some great photos here....

Our visit to the California State Capitol was a delightful experience. The Neoclassical architecture, designed by Reuben S. Clark in 1874, is truly captivating. Surrounding the Capitol, you'll find the beautiful Capitol Mall and Capitol Park. While we couldn't explore the Capitol Museum due to our weekend visit, the park itself offered a serene escape. The park boasts 155 memorials celebrating California's history and people, and the 40 acres of gardens were a lush, peaceful retreat. A must-visit for history and nature enthusiasts.

An absolutely beautiful place The Rose garden was magnificent, a variety of different roses all beautiful and in bloom.

Beautiful peaceful mecca in downtown. I found this gem walking back to old town water front from the fort. And boy did I luck out! I found the California Vietnam Veteran's Memorial and this Peace rose garden. It was surreal and so very moving. Something I was so humbled by and so privileged to have been honored to had to opportunity to spend a little time at.

Definitely worth the visit, especially if in the area. While not the largest museum around, I liked its down to earth nature, not eery car had been restored, in good condition but not abnormally shiny and perfect. In fact, I really appreciated being able to sit in Ford Model T era cars. Felt they might break apart as I first stepped on the running boards, but they held. and was able to experience the weird driving position of the time.

This place was so cool. I brought my husband for a surprise date. We both loved it. The people there are so nice too. Definitely bringing the kids soon. If you haven't been it's definitely a must if your a car lover!!!

Went through for veterans day and the car show was a ton of fun! Even before we got inside the museum my whole family had a smile on our faces and there were cars for all of us to enjoy. Now when we got inside, it was very open and clean. There were so many vintage cars that my grandparents delightfully informed us about. It was a very fun trip and would absolutely come with some people who haven't seen it before.

As a birthday gift, my husband and I took my dad for the Model T class this morning. It was wonderful! My dad said that it checked something off his bucket list and all of us couldn't stop smiling while driving the amazing cars provided. We highly recommend the class and/or a visit to the museum. Beautiful cars, great instructors, and an extremely special experience. Something that we will remember forever.

Excellent Museum! A very unique and expansive collection of cars and trucks. Some fully restored and others in original condition. A must stop for enthusiastic car nuts. Knowledgeable friendly staff, happy to answer any questions. A handful of the cars were available to purchase for what looked like reasonable prices.

We were looking for something to do over Spring Break and I found this museum on Google. What a COOL place!! We arrived right when they opened on a Wednesday and there were already other people arriving, as well. The cashier was friendly and helpful. It’s a self-guided tour but there are also volunteers who walk around and answer questions or will take you on the tour. It was so interesting and helpful to have a volunteer explain things we maybe wouldn’t have figured out going along by ourselves and reading signs. It’s was SO cool to start at the beginning of the timeline in the 1800s and see the first engine powered “buggy” (think small horse buggy with no horse) and how that progressed, pretty quickly to gas powered vehicles. See their evolution was awesome! My teenage son LOVES cars, so he really enjoyed himself, as well. The current featured exhibit is low-riders with female owners. Such beautiful, cool cars! This Summer the exhibit will Be VW Busses so I think we’ll go back! Definitely a cool place to visit!

Amazing. The quality. The organization. Definitely worth the visit. Many classic cars, and knowledgeable people. Location is beautiful. I recommend this museum for anyone interested in classic transportation vehicles.

Went there for the first time. It was an awesome experience. So much to see and they let you sit in a couple of the vehicles. They keep things fresh by bringing in new collections. Will definitely be going back!

We love the California Automobile Museum. Lots of fascinating history and beautiful vintage cars. We wished that it had a better, well stocked gift shop. There are several knowledgeable people who will gift you a personal tour and explanation of various vehicles. We would definitely recommend the California Automobile Museum as a place to stop while on vacation or just somewhere to go to explore. 🚘

This is an amazing museum you may tour alone or with a docent who may have previously owned one of the cars or trucks you are looking at! The docents are trained well but already hold great passion for autos and trucks of the past, including fun stories! Plenty of photo opportunities including an old car kids can climb up into for that photo. (Please don’t touch the exhibit cars- they are museum quality and cared for as such). Some events take place in a large stage area, once the home of a pipe organ for grand concerts!

What an interesting, wonderful museum! We thoroughly enjoyed our time and all of the docents were so kind and informative! The cars here are super cool and they allow both adults and children to get into several of the cars/trucks which is awesome.

Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and gave us a great history lesson on cars! Being able to sit in old cars was such an experience that you just have to do it yourself. My only complaint is that the museum was located in an area that's sort of sketchy and remote, we walked so it was a bit scary. I'd recommend driving there.

We had a great time. So many cars. The history of the automobile is amazing. Larry is one of the docents. He was so knowledgeable and passionate about what he does. We will be back for the new exhibits

If you’re a cart lover and you like classic cars, this is the best museum to come. You learn from the first cars built in America to some historic cars like some president wife’s cars. And they also have authentic vehicles that you have seen in some movies like the Ghostbusters or back to the future. The ticket wasn’t expensive at all to come into this museum and there was no wait line to come in the day I went, which was I believe on a Wednesday.

My friend surprised me and took me to the automobile museum last Saturday for my birthday. I had never been before. It was absolutely amazing! I couldn't believe my eyes when we walked through the doors! The cars were so clean and beautiful! We had so much fun checking out ALL the classics! There were so many! We chatted with the friendly people who work there. They were very knowledgeable about all the vehicles in the building. Answering all of our questions. With both of us, being mechanics, this was right up our alley. I truly enjoyed myself and would love to go check this place out again! Totally cool! 👍

What a great museum. The collection of cars span the history from steam driven to modern day. The docents are very friendly and extremely knowledgeable.

I come here often.. it is the most beautiful cathedral I have ever experienced. Very good vibe especially when you get the church to yourself... I recommend visiting in between church services as the experience is more of a one-on-one with the Lord. The church service congregation and priest dull the experience. If you really feel you need to speak to God I recommend coming here, speaking to anyone affiliated with the church will blur your communication with the Lord. Trust me he is there

This is one ☝️ of the oldest Catholic church in Sacramento Awesome place to worship you Lord they have services in English Latin & Chinese every Sunday.

This beautiful Cathedral is by far one of my most favorite places to visit in all of Sacramento. I always feel a large, comforting presence when I enter the front door and it is so tranquil and peaceful inside. The beauty is overwhelming.

This is a beautiful Cathedral. The choir and organist were especially good this week at 10am mass. A bit more of a formal service with altar servers and deacon along with a priest. I like the incense, singing the Kyrie, Gloria, Lord's Prayer etc.Fr. O'Riley does a good homily. I believe they have tours on Sundays. If you are visiting Sacramento, definitely check out the peace here.

Beautiful church! Its open to everyone. Heard mass here today. There's paid parking beside the church.

I am not a Catholic, I accompanied an 80 year old lady up from her home in Mexico who wished to attend a Catholic church. Many of the local churches said on their Face Book pages, " Closed until Monday" and then a time. I was surprised by the numbers that were closed. Closed during the week yes but Sunday closing for a church is probably a sign of the times. When we left the lady was very happy she had gotten to church as she missed some services. When we walked back to the car she had a spring to her feet and a beaming smile. She said she felt replenished and ready to take on the world. Which made me happy, I was just glad we found a church open on a Sunday but a long way from Yuba City as all those listed said closed!

Constructed in the 1800's this palace for out Lord Jesus Christ is the brightest star in the sky. Event the hearts of the secular can't help but appreciate grandeur and architectural prowess of our Cathedral

Free to visit. Wonderful stained glass, alter, paintings, dome, and chapels.

The light is absolutely beautiful, the geometric construction is also outstanding, how can't a cathedral be so gorgeous. It's a place that only with natural light is calmly hypnotic, if you go to a place looking for peace, you'll find it here with the Blessed Sacrament. The only thing is the acoustic, I seat back at the last row and I couldn't understand the words, is so majestic.

What a beautiful cathedral! When you walk in, it only takes a moment to realize how much detail is in everything! From the ceiling paintings, to the sculptures, to the woodworking. It was awe inspiring. It’s in a great location that’s easy to get to (there’s a streetcar that stops right outside) and it’s definitely worth the visit if you love architecture!

The Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament in Sacramento, California is a stunning example of neo-Renaissance architecture. On a beautiful day, the cathedral's white marble exterior gleams in the sunlight, and its twin towers soar against the blue sky. The cathedral's most striking feature is its massive dome, which is topped by a golden cross. The dome is flanked by two smaller domes, and the entire structure is topped by a series of ornamental pinnacles and spires. The cathedral's facade is also richly decorated, with a large central portico and two smaller side porticoes. The porticoes are supported by Corinthian columns, and the entablature above is decorated with a relief of the Last Supper. The cathedral was built in the late 19th century, during a time of great growth and prosperity for Sacramento. The city was the capital of the California Gold Rush, and it was attracting people from all over the world. The cathedral was built to serve the growing Catholic population of the city, and it quickly became one of Sacramento's most iconic landmarks.

Nice free guided tour of the historic Stanford Mansion. No food, drinks, photography, or touching of anything allowed inside. I went on a weekday during the middle of summer and they had tours at the top of every hour. There are no self guided tours, and you must sign up for a tour at the tour office behind and to the left of the building. I gave this tour 4 stars because for some unknown reason they don't allow pictures inside. The tour takes you through about half of the building and lasts about 45 minutes. You learn about the history of the building and the people who lived there. It was very interesting and informative, and great for those enjoy history.

Hardly anything is free these days but this wonderful tour of a historic mansion w a guide is FREE. The story behind the mansion is fascinating. I totally marvelled at how the original two storey mansion was raised up 12 ft n added on a grd floor n a fourth. Every visitor to Sacramento should visit this marvellous historic site.

Went on one of the free tours and it was an awesome experience. They have more than 40 rooms in the 4 floors. The tour guide shows you at least 15 rooms. So cool to see all the old furniture and the ancient pianos!! Our guide was Cindy and she was very welcoming and knowledgeable. Worth a visit if you are in the area!

Was a free fun tour of the Stanford mansion, it runs every hour. Our tour guide was Ryun, great job. My kids 11 & 14 had blast. Can't take pics inside the mansion, but its amazing.

Spectacular! We went and took our wedding photos here and it was perfect! No foot traffic, we had it all to ourselves and it is nothing short of palatial. We loved every minute.

Free tours conducted every half hour. Watched an introductory film short then was taken on a tour through the ballroom, receiving, dining, parlor, music room, office, master bath, master bed, nursery, children's bed and sun rooms. With 44 rooms, I was a little disappointed in not seeing th entire mansion but can't complain since it's free. Eric, my tour guide was knowledgeable and made itvan enjoyable experience. No pictures allowed inside which is a shame because it has some unique pieces. Guess you'll have to come see for yourself 😊

This park is a gem! Our family decided to visit after a quick Google search and were thrilled with our decision. We visited the little visitors center and were lucky to be about 15 minutes before a tour. Mario was our tour guide for the home and was a wonderful historian of the home and family. We came with kids and he did a great job of engaging them and keeping them interested, no simple challenge. The story of the Stanfords is fascinating, sad, and essentially untold outside of the local area. Thank you Mario and thank you California State Parks, this is an incredible place and piece of history to preserve!

A true gem, the Stanford Mansion in Sacramento is a must see attraction. The tours are free and there is a lovely exhibit room outside the mansion. Our tour guide was excellent. On the street metered parking was easy to find as many people in the city were working from home. You can request to take the elevator instead of the stairs.

Definitely worth a visit. I didn’t know if you could actually go inside but I didn’t have much time anyway so just passed by outside. The building itself is stunning unfortunately they are building some hideous parking lot or something right behind it which takes away from it.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Stanford Mansion. Our guide had lots of information and stories. It was nice to have access to so much of the house! I would definitely recommend this tour. I would like to visit again when I have the chance. (Go behind the house to find the visitor center.)

The Halloween tour was so awesome! They really did up the decorations big willy style! Guides told us spooky facts about the museum. I haven't been there outside of halloween, but it really seems like it would be fun and interesting year round. We had a couple of little kids that were losing interest, unfortunately. It's hard for them to stay in one place for too long. That's something to keep in mind if you have preschoolers or toddlers.

To have your engagement session or quince pre-event session at the Leland Stanford Mansion always gets me so excited. Logan, our tour guide, was exceptionally knowledgeable and humorous, enhancing our experience. The luxurious and elegant furnishings inside were a delight to observe closely, and the tour offered valuable insights. However, it's important to note that no photographs or videos were allowed, and touching was restricted. Despite this, the free entrance and tour guides make it an accessible and enjoyable experience for all. Tours commence promptly at the beginning of every hour.

Definitely worth a visit if you're a local or a tourist. The house gives great examples of life in the late 1800s and early 1900s for this very privileged family. Interesting story about how the location of Stanford University started out as a horse stable owned by this family, and for many years the university was tuition free to allow anybody to achieve higher education. The story of the family, the university, and the house is quite a contrast to life today on multiple levels. Tours are offered daily at the top of each hour. Last tour is 1 hour before closing. (4 pm when we went) You can enter the grounds and the small museum/interpretive center at any time during operating hours for free and look around before your tour starts. No visitors allowed inside the house without the guided tour.

Great location for a sports or entertainment event!!!! There are plenty of locations to grab a bite or a drink. It is ADA accesible. The pricing really depends on the event you are attending. There is an abundance of parking!!!!!!! The wait lines might be a little long depending on what time of the event you go. Don’t go during half time! Staff are polite. If you don’t want to deal with the rush of traffic then arrive early and leave a few minutes early They scan for our safety. No outside food or drinks allowed. Plenty of locations to but souvenirs. Location is great.

Jurassic World Live Dinosaur tour in July 2023. My experience at The Golden 1 Center was good. Security checkpoints flow smoothly. Do not bring in large bags or security staff will redirect you to check them into a paid locker. Plenty of staff is readily available to help guide and/or point you in the right direction. Entrance and bathrooms are ♿️ accessible. There are plenty of clean bathrooms. Minimal free street parking is available. Lots of paid parking structures are available. Pay for parking early to secure parking spots closer to the venue so you don't have to walk far. Try to get there as early as possible to help avoid traffic and long lines. Food is available for purchase inside, but it is expensive. Budget for themed keepsake items and photo opportunities are also available for purchase. Seats are very close to one another and hard, so bring something to help comfort your back plus a face mask if desired. Paying for premium seating is well worth it if you desire to see the characters or for a more personalized and/or memorable experience. Pack your patience and arrive as early as you can to help navigate walking, traffic, and long lines. I would go again. Highly recommend.

When Golden 1 Center replaced Arco Arena (Sleep Train Arena) in 2016. We're so excited to have a new home for the Sacramento Kings finally. I remember the first time in here at the upper level seats was very scary! It looks straight down. It seems I'll fall down anytime! I don't feel that anymore after a few times in there. I can even jump up and down now! Lol I am there mainly for the Sacramento Kings home game, plus a few times for concerts or other functions. The Golden 1 Center is perfect for all the major events. The next best thing at Golden 1 Center is all the restaurants with different styles of food in there. We have a lot of choices. Of course, they’re expensive! Parking garages and streets are available for $15 to $25 per car on the event day. It's not cheap, but available most of the time. My favorite parking garage is the Old Sacramento parking under the I-5 freeway parking garage. It is $15 per car. It is only a short walk to the Golden 1 Center and mostly with covered walkways.

This was a big concert, almost to capacity. But the entry checks went really fast. There were many ushers and helpers guiding people. The concert itself was awsome. I had paid for parking in advance and it was easy to find and only a short 3 minute walk to the venue. It was super easy to get out of parking with all the parking monitors directing traffic, even with the crowds, which was really surprising. We were grateful and very happy that everything went so smoothly.

Kings games are a must! Got to see some artist & comedians as well! They have lots of food options in their food court, love that a lot are locally sourced too!

Originally, my son and I were not going to go. A basketball arena for Monster Jam? We were highly suspect of Golden One and the event. There were a couple big name competitors, but that's it. We felt like it was the "B" league, not the "A" league. On a whim (we were bored), we decided to go. Its Monster Jam, let's check it out. It actually works. It's quite a feat, and it works well. We have to say, hats off to the Golden One Center and Monster Jam. They pulled off one entertaining afternoon. One we definitely would recommend for everyone. A sight to see. Next time, we won't skip it.

In the grand scheme of venues, I didn't find anything extra special about it. Like most places of the sort, they pack you in as close as possible and then some, and overcharge for water (7) and beer (14) . The service was good, and they were friendly, and lines moved fast. The parking options were many, close, with easy access.

What a concert!!! I had such an amazing experience. Timothy Lea, thank you a thousand times for your prompt response to my emails and concerns. I greatly appreciate that you took time out of your busy schedule and wrote back to me. It just shows the integrity of this venue, and the staff. The Lexus Lounge at the Golden 1 is absolutely unbelievable! I was so busy enjoying each food station that I failed to get photos, but each of the many stations were delicious! When the dinner hours were over, they replaced each station with desserts, OMG! The open bar is incredible, and the service was five star! We had a great time at the game and our friends that we brought along with us are still talking about it. Simply unforgettable!

We've spent the past two nights at the Golden 1 Center -- for a Kings game and a John Mayer concert -- and have had an incredible time! The venue is easy to navigate, the seats are comfortable, concessions are accessible, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. It was a great way to spend the weekend!

The Golden 1 center is an awesome venue! Not only is the G1C fairly new, the surrounding area is filled with restaurants and shops to keep you entertained before and after an event. Based on my own experience, security can be a little difficult to deal with, and they're bag policy is pretty strict. This was my second event at the arena, and I'll definitely be back.

golden one center my first time here was here for the mana concert and the truth is I was amazed at how easy it was to get in and out of this place, I found a parking lot 5 minutes walk from the concert and I only paid 20 dollars all well organized.

Great venue! Seats don’t offer a bunch of leg room, but the arena makes up for it with the great sound and lights. Nice food and drink options, all fairly pricey but that’s standard for sports events these days. Section 110 for PBR was a blast. Long lines for security and drinks but they move quickly. We attend a Kings game at least once a season and love the arena. Great food options and reasonable parking options. We've also attended concerts and enjoy it as well!

Beautiful arena. Very clean and easily accessible restrooms. Food and drink prices astronomical and seating is too Crammed. Upper level is dangerously steep.

Went for PBR. Had a lot of fun. Love that they have butter for your popcorn and let you do it yourself.

This is for the monster jam show. Great experience. View from 204 section was good. No obstruction. Lower levels would be even better I think. Parked in the 325 L street lot which was very close. Be prepared to wait 30-40 mins while leaving the parking building.

Fantastic venue to watch the Kings play. Surrounding area restaurants, bars, mall shopping and movie theatre. Numerous parking lots close by as well.

Lovely river path in West Sacramento leads to this iconic golden bridge across the Sacramento River. On the West Sacramento side, the path traces along the water with beautiful views and well manicured landscaping along the way. On the East side of the river is Old Sacramento with cute shops, restaurants, old trains, and beautiful old architecture from Sacramento’s past. Take a walk from one side to the other over this Sacramento landmark and enjoy a snack, a lovely stroll, and maybe some bites from food trucks on the east side that frequent the water front.

Nice bridge to witness the river. Perfect spot for pictures as well. They also have electric scooters for you to rent. The only downside was some areas being trashed.

Was told by coworkers that I needed to see the gold bridge while I was in the area. Large pathways along the river, relatively clean area for pedestrians and bicyclists. I'd like to go back at night to see it lit up.

💛 I've always loved yellow & gold, so I had to see this yellow bridge in person. Took a brief 15 min stroll over and couldn't stop smiling. As I got closer, I could see the Tower Bridge was not yellow...it's GOLD! Even better!

The bridge is close to where we live and so we have a chance to go there often. This bridge is a great bridge with a bunch of walking room to travel back and forth across the bridge. You can see a lot of different things from. We just went there and saw this dope boat that got into the spirit of Christmas

I have visited this tower bridge last weekend after sunset. There are plenty of places to park near by, the easiest one to spot is the public parking towards the east side of the bridge. I personally prefer parking near the destination called Historic Lamp Post. Parking on weekends is free and we can get direct access to the riverfront.

A shiny, golden bridge. This bridge looks yellow, but it's actually golden. It's about a block long and has walkways on both sides. I was a little disappointed seeing in person because it seemed larger in photos and videos. It's a functional bridge.

24 states have vertical-lift bridges and California is one of them, having a total of 6. Proud to say that Sacramento’s Tower Bridge is one of them. Now that the benevolent sun is out, you can see the engineered masterpiece at work while the boats pass through it. Watching the fireworks show from here is magical. Walking through it gives a sense of being part of something bigger than yourself. Whether one sees this bridge by air, water, car or foot, this golden historical landmark is a must see! The Tower Bridge is a vertical lift bridge across the Sacramento River, linking West Sacramento in Yolo County with the capital of California. A lovely river path in West Sacramento leads to this iconic golden bridge spanning the Sacramento River. The view was amazing! We had the chance to witness the bridge opening and closing... It was a great experience!

Took a stroll through Old Sacramento and over the Tower Bridge. A warm day with a slight breeze, perfect for a walk along the river. On my way home, I stopped in Stage 9 gift shop to play a video game but used my quarters to flatten a copper penny instead. I plan to give it to a VIP. They have the most unique toys and rare items. I love that store!

Not sure if it’s ugly or iconic. It definitely is not that similar to the bridge in London.

I believe this park should be made more clean and more engaging. The sheep pen smells really bad and is being cleaned as visitors were sight seeing. If I hadn't left there immediately or had stayed there a little more time, I would have been bathed with water. Not going back there .

Beautiful. There is always parking available on the street. My go to place to feed the ducks. There are so many and they are comfortable with people. Lots of benches to sit around the water also.

Great park with nice paved trails and duck ponds. Very well maintained and clean. The park also has a nice golf course. Also lots of shade trees

This one of Sacramento's best parks. Love that the lowriders have events and cruise through here. Took my kids to see the damage from this last storm. Very sad to see these big trees down on the ground. I know the park and rec will have this cleaned up in no time. But was an interesting sight to see.

Fairytale Town is amazing! Wish we could catch a showing. Only seen one in 13yrs, other than that it's amazing place for children.

This area of Sacramento is very pretty with such big and lush trees! We have been out here a few times over the past few years of living in California and each time we have come has been so much fun. There is always tons of people but there is also so much space throughout the area that you can’t not find a nice peaceful area. This last time we actually went out to do professional family portraits with a local artist and they were great! FYI to all the Sacramento photographers…our family loved having them done there. We had a beautiful (HOT) day in the garden and park. Fed the geese cheerios. Squirrels had some as well. It was a nice stop before the airport.

Great place to go on your daily walk! It is very peaceful and such a large area to just roam around and yet feel safe. My 16 y/o son and I make a point to go every other Sunday to walk and chat.

William Land Park is next to a golf course and has a lot of green space to picnic and relax by the pond. The pond has geese and ducks that are now used to being fed by people, so they will run up to you when you arrive. My favorite duck is a local Crested male that has a nice ball of feathers on his head.

A very large park with so much to do. Rock gardens are awesome, greenery is awesome there. Sad to see how many trees have gotten damaged in storms we've had lately but VERY impressed with how quickly maintenance staff had been on top of the clean up. They take really good care of this wonderful landmark of Sacramento. Golf course and a Zoo are also in the vicinity and for the little ones there is also Fairytale town here and duck ponds and more! There is definitely something to do for people of any age and very pet friendly as well! One of the best parks in the city!

Went there around 7:30 pm on a Friday. Chocolate éclair was pretty dry, as was the cream filling. Cakes looked amazing, just wasn't that hungry. The place got really filled up after we got there, maybe a show or something just finished. Parking is still a pain, unfortunately in midtown.

I love this place. Perfect for dog walking, taking the family out, having a picnic, or just to relax. There are SO many little animals like ducks, squirrels, and baby birds. And then there’s also geese and chickens! Sometimes you’ll even see baby ducklings! There’s plenty of shade so be sure to bring a blanket to lay out on. But if you don’t there’s a decent amount of benches. I’ve been there when it was about 92 outside but sitting in the shade made it feel like a cool 75 (it was lightly breezy tho). The bathrooms were a little bit if a jump scare tho lol. PS. Please don’t terrorize the animals by chasing them or throwing things at them :/ and also please bring a bag for your trash afterwards too, if you’re by the pond areas there are not many trash cans.

Easter with my Daughters friends family was great! Beautiful day and a beautiful park! Just noticed the golf course's little cafe for the first time today.

Booked the underground tour through here which also includes museum admission. Headsets through the tour made it easier to hear the guide wherever you were standing. Guide was thorough and informative. Appreciated the museums inclusion of native Americans and the exhibits. The gold mining section was well designed. Staff was friendly. Small gift ship with old time games and a variety of souvenirs. Worth stopping in

Well, I think my expectations set the bar too high, therefore the tour was a bit of a let down. The guide made up for a lot due to his sparkling personality and depth of knowledge. However, the tunnel section was only 100 feet or less and the few rooms they showed us, although authentic of course, lacked a sound of some historical sort and probably could have used a bit more light.

A nice modern little museum for the Sacramento waterfront. Even if you are not a big museum fan, it's nice to also have all-day access to clean restrooms as you explore the waterfront.

We came here for our second time to do the Choose Your Own Gold Rush Tour which was very fun. We got here as the tour was starting due to heavy traffic so we missed being able to walk around the museum on our own. The museum staff were kind enough to honor our tickets the next day. We did gold panning while on the tour and the day after we checked out the gift shop. They had made a small exhibit change since we had last been here which is to be expected with a museum. We had a great time and enjoyed seeing the wall of things people collect.

A small museum but very well thought out with lots of history! We purchased tickets to the underground tour which included admission to the museum. We had lots of fun exploring the space and reading about all the exhibits.

They have new exhibits fairly frequently so you can see something new virtually every time you go. The current one is Inked (tattooed) women in California's history.

This is not a huge museum as the others around the US but they do have the great Underground Tour which provides visitors quite many interesting informations about local historic events. The staffs and the tour guide gentleman are amazing.

Wonderful museum with lots of fascinating Sac history - especially social history. Wonderful food history timeline. Welcoming staff. The museum is located in Sac Old Town. The cobblestone area outside in Old Town is a little difficult with walkers. The museum is very accessible - has an elevator and accessible bathroom. Special underground tour available (we didn't take) - which looks really interesting. Recommend the museum and spending some time in Old Town.

I enjoyed this museum and particularly the Women In Tattoo & Lowrider exhibits. Staff is very helpful & friendly; clean restrooms, reasonable admission price & plenty of paid parking nearby. Went on a weekday & there were several large groups of school children. The only thing I didn't like it that most individual items in glass cases are not labeled or described. I could have learned SO MUCH MORE if they were.

Nice and informative museum in a historic building. Very friendly stuff. Ask vor entryfee discounts like AAA. Don't miss the very informative video on 3rd floor! Parking can be hard. Use the place behind the Railroad Museum, they charge 1 Dollar per 20 minutes or use the app or the webpage to put in your licence plate and the number of the parking meter. It's easy.

Interesting museum. Especially the part about California having been an island. They have a senior and veteran discount. But you can't combine them.

I have been living in the East Sacramento neighborhood for about 6 months and this park has been a great workout place for me. I ran from my place to here and make few circles around the park. And in the morning and the evening it was beautiful. The restrooms were maintained well by the city and there is a pool as well. If you are the owner of the houses around the park, you are blessed. I hope the city maintain this place well in the future as well. Good job and keep the good job please!

Such a fun playground with two for different age groups. Climbing areas and balancing areas are so fun. It's a nice green space around the playground too.

The rose garden here is beautiful! And I heard it was all volunteer created? Don't quote me on that. But it was really nice to spend 15 minutes here to start the day

What can I say about McKinley park except that it’s one of the most amazing addition to where I live when I come to California Sacramento. It’s amazing to walk around, very good to run through. Taking dogs for a walk. Also to practice tennis. Most of my steps if not in the gym is walking around McKinley Park. There is a lot of activity that happen in Mckinley park that is much appreciated during the weekends and the holidays. The area around the park is rising in prices so I really appreciate the fact that I live a cross the street. The park has: Tennis area Library Rose garden All different and all really good outlets.

Had a really nice morning walk during our stay in Sac. Quiet and relaxing. I wish I had gotten to see the roses bloom, but these peonies were just as beautiful. 😊

Beautiful park. It's got a walking / jogging path around the perimeter. The entire loop, including the section where the garden club is housed is one mile. New bathrooms, picnic facilities and playground make it a great place for picnics and play dates. Plenty of space for games or getting away from folks. Pond full of ducks and geese. Rose garden is often used for weddings and photo shoots. A gem of a park

Such a wonderful park, it could use some additional parking for sure. So get here early if you have plans to scope out a spot, other than that it’s totally worth the parking hassle and a wonderful place to have a birthday party, take your kids, exercise, or just go on a nice walk.
