Beautiful area with boutique style shops and unique restaurants. I love to walk around this area and enjoy the crisp fall weather right now in October. There is a wonderful long walking path along the waterfront where you will be able to take a water taxi, ferry, or just enjoy the ducks that live along the shore.

Highly recommend!!!! Whether you’re a local in the DMV or a visitor, old town is a spot you should definitely get to know. It’s the most adorable little town right by the water. The streets are very clean and the area is dog friendly and kid friendly. There are so many great places to dine with a variety of cuisines that cater to all!! Old town is right by on the Potomac and close by the Reagan National Airport so you get to see the planes fly overhead.

Beautiful, clean, family friendly and, easy to walk along the waterfront. There are benches to sit and watch the birds, or people watch. The park on the day we walked had lots of families having picnics. However there was one homeless man with his tent, desk chair, lap top, and speakers set up! I wanted to take a photo, but didn't dare. The Torpedo Factory is right at the waterfront! It's a former torpedo factory, now a building with art studios and galleries, free to the public! Go and see local art and meet some of the artists! Support local art! The Waterfront here is truly relaxing. You can stop for a meal at one of the several restaurants here too.

The waterfront is small but got a nice view and airplane sighing. A nice place for a walk. There's a restaurant on site. Mainly private and tour boats and water taxis. There is street parking but go for garage parking to save time looking for a spot.

It's a short (20 minute) walk to Jones Point Park, and it's right off King Street which is lined with great, unique restaurants and shops! This small park along the waterfront is a delightful way to take in views of the Potomac and all Old Town Alexandria has to offer. There is room for outdoor activities, benches, art work, boats, historic signage, and much more. Plus you are surrounded by numerous restaurants, businesses, and other experiences. Everything was relatively clean and well maintained, except the trash cans which need emptying and cleaning. If you're in the city, you definitely need to stop here to take in a unique spot among the bustle of the world around you.

Beautiful little park right by the water in Old Town. Good mix of open green spaces, seating, and shade. There are a variety of historical plaques and markers in the park as well. It can get crowded on the weekends, but there is still enough room to spread out and doesn’t feel overly crowded. It’s much quieter during the week. There is also no dedicated parking, so be prepared to park on the street and walk s few blocks.

It was a breath of fresh air. People were so nice and welcoming. Very fur baby friendly. Met a wonderful couple celebrating 37 years of marriage at The Wharf. Didn't realize until we left that we were in a historic district. Wonderful place to visit.

Historic houses and parks adorn this truly historic waterfront and shopping the many boutique shops will help pass your time. I highly recommend it!

Great place for a walk. Plenty of families and dogs. You can probably see some boats and air planes flying overhead. No play grounds so keep a close eye on the kids, almost saw 2 or 3 go in the water.

This is another absolutely wonderful place to visit, est, and even shop for unique things. King Street is the main hub of activity, but don't miss some of the other places, sights and attractions on adjacent streets. Parking is available, but on busy days, it can be challenging. Best is go early! It's so picturesque throughout the year, and it's family oriented. Pet friendly too, with proprietors even placing water bowls out for pets. I'll get writer's cramp trying to explain every, so Google and other search engines are easy to use to discover so much about this historical part of the area!

Cute place by the waterfront with a historical feel. We found street parking free a few blocks inland and walked through the old town Alexandria streets that had a cute historical charm. There were a good mix of families with kids, couples, and tourists. Live music scattered throughout the streets by musicians playing different instruments. We enjoyed the nice little walk along the waterfront and recommend stopping by if you’re ever in the Alexandria area. We had a dinner appointment 5 minutes from the waterfront, so we came here after dinner on a summer evening.

Nice place to hangout with friends and family or just chilling by yourself. Very happening during summer. Parking is a bit tricky here and you have to pay. Always carry a light jacket as riverside walk can make you cold. Good for kids.

I LOVE THIS PLACE. One of the best places in NOVA for a walk in day or night, having food at restaurants by the water, and more fun. There are many boats parked there and many restaurants by the river. There is a little park, best place for kids and pets to walk around, but be careful of kids near river. The streets around look like you're in a hostoric place (historic old town, lol) or kinda Europe!

Old Town Alexandria was absolutely amazing! On the weekends you can park for free roadside. Then you walk into the Old Town Alexandria Area to patio Restaurant eating, Street dancing, guitarist playing in the street, loud jazz music entertaining sightseers and passers by, you had your salsa dancing in the street, lots of pedestrians walking in the middle of the street and entered entertaining and enjoying entertainment going on around them. There was probably a total of five or six beautiful wonderful ice cream shops that look quite delightful. Several shops of all kinds of antiques, clothing, shoes different apparel jewelry that were storefront, various restaurants and bars from your three star restaurant and bar to your five-star restaurant and bar, as you approach the pier it was just absolutely beautiful the water and seeing all of the boats, there's a lot of entertainment activity going on all around you and the short area where the water is. There was a DJ playing in the middle right before the water that was entertaining everyone. You can bring your family down and enjoy a picnic order food they were individuals also with our laptops up and doing some work. The Ducks were very friendly and they would be coming right up to you to be fed. It was absolutely beautiful, calming and peaceful! Wonderful family atmosphere perfect for date night and just getting out and taking it easy. A great place for a girls night for dinner and a good time. Great safe walking environment for family and friends. I thoroughly enjoyed myself I am in town visiting and this is some place I will definitely come back to. I enjoyed myself in the Tranquility of it all. Parking can be a hassle, because it is a very busy area and you will need to find parking on a street around near you. You will pay meters if you park during the week but on the weekend you can park dang near for free I think it's like $1.50 for 2 hours or something of that nature.

The lively and never disappointing farmers market in the King St Square on Saturdays is the oldest farmers market in the United States. #facts A few blocks away down the cobblestone streets is the waterfront that overlooks the Potomac and gives views of the National Harbor. What a great walk in any season. There's often times live music and art displays in the Waterfront Park. I love coming here, to relax, exercise, eat, shop and enjoy nature "Old Town" style.

Very neat art gallery! Free to enter! There's so much to see at this place - probably over 100 art vendors. Definitely worth the stop to see and appreciate all of the artists. There's a lot of variety of art, and so many neat things to browse though. There are three floors and you can spend hours here just looking around. Support local artists 🙂❤️

This is a very cool art gallery and studio, full of talented artists selling unique pieces of work. You can watch them create masterpieces, talk to them, and appreciate all the different styles in a neat retro building with many scenic views from each studio.

We visited this place a while back and enjoyed exploring the building, which has many galleries and exciting things to see from its art studios. If you plan to visit the Old Town Alexandria, include this place in your itinerary. You won't regret it.

A historical torpedo factory which the buildings is repurposed as nation’s largest community of working artists. 3 stories building filled with the exhibits of torpedo factory historic, the art school, an archaeology museum and different types of arts studios and if you’re lucky you’ll meet the artists yourself. Each level has their own restrooms area, which all of them are very clean! You’ll find hand sanitizer almost in every entrance/ exit area. Parking garage are all in walking perimeter around, starting $2.50/ hour or $10 max on weekdays and $5 max on weekends.

Hard to give this place 5 stars if the Art pieces are just too expensive. I judge the location on art, coziness, cleanliness, and the people. Great walk through and the art pieces are incredible. I can really tell that I was viewing some very talented artist. The location was bright, very vibrant, and the pieces were 1 of a kind. Special shot out to MEG Photography Exhibition. He had several wilderness photos that highly caught my eye. If they were in the $50 price range then I may have taken a few home, but close to $200 just wasn't. There was a pience from Scotland that highlighted the mountains and railroads - simply beautiful. A MUST SEE if you’re in Old Town Alexandria. This old factory has been converted to a studio/ education/ gallery space for artists. It has a fantastic mix of different types of art and media. There are three floors of art to explore.

Place to visit if you're in Old Town. Most likely you will be near if looking for Potomac view. Main point - you need to plan, otherwise it will be overwhelming and rush feeling. Factory has 3 floors with about 200+ studio and artists, ceramic, leather, textile - you name it. My guess just to walk around every studio without even looking into work & details you would need 2 hours plus. Get information beforehand - plan for about 10 studios max to keep it under 2 hours. Always include a visit to a history museum & look at historical artifacts at factory - torpedo, floor weight. Best time to visit probably past 2PM on Sunday - it's weekend but less crowded while most studio will be open. If visiting with kids - place has several bathrooms and they are in a good shape. There are soda-water machines but no snacks - you may need to re-enter. Studios recommendations - #305 painting & #19 ceramic (totally personal choice)

It was a lot of fun seeing all the different types of art and artists. There were 3 floors of awesome art and super creative people. They offer classes and so many other cool things. Not allowed to take picture while in the studio of course but very nice art work. I would have liked to know more about the building as well.

The torpedo factory building is over 100 years old and was built shortly after WWI. It still houses a couple of the old torpedoes manufactured there. However, it is now a thriving and lively art gallery that hosts many local artists' contributions. There are many whimsical creations and beautiful paintings throughout the three story gallery. Many of the artists are glad to speak with patrons and are enthusiastic about their creations. If you visit Old Town Alexandria, this is definitely a stop worth visiting.

Awesome place bringing together artists and the public. Amazing summer programs for kids and workshops offered for all throughout the year. If I lived in Alexandria this would be a place I would frequent. Appreciate being able to connect with the local artists.

I'm not an art experience person, so I was reluctant to visit but was glad I made the decision to spend time at the Torpedo Factory. The site is an old torpedo plant for the navy that has been converted into a giant gallery for a variety of artists. Each has their own mini gallery inside and you will find a variety of mediums on display. This includes painting, prints, sketches, pottery, etc. Really, everything you can imagine. Everything was very well maintained and presented. Just surrounded by this amount of high quality art brought delight to everyone in my party. Everyone saw something that spoke to them. We also enjoyed the building itself and the stories woven into the different exhibits and pieces of art on display. Also be sure to check out the wonderful archeology museum detailing hidden stories from Alexandria's past. When in old town, the Torpedo Factory is a must visit.

Torpedo Factory Art Center is definitely the place to visit if you happen to be in Old Alexandria in Virginia. Art is everywhere here and some artworks are quite fascinating to look at. There are inspired, jewellery-makers who carved a niche for their creations whether big or small. The artists use different media , be it glass, acrylic, oil, watercolor or print. An enriching place, find the hidden treasures under the winding stairs.

Tuesday is a quiet day to visit, not many of the studios were open. You can still view artwork through studio display windows. TIP: there's a map by the street side entrance that shows which studios are open.

Stumbled upon this place by chance while I was in the area, ended up spending a great deal of time here. Met a lot of interesting artists, sculptors, and I saw a great many unique pieces of art on display. Regardless of whatever interests you may have, I’m certain something must peak your interests. I highly recommend a visit not just by typical art enthusiasts but anyone else just passing by the old town waterfront.

A nice place to visit, a lot to see inside and out.they keep this place up nice it very easy to get to and well worth going to. We did have a good time looking throw the grounds and in side. It more of a self guided tour.good for the hole family. We do recommend.

Amazing construction by our fore fathers. The history in this building is wonderful. Even the elevator had to be constructed on an angle...truly a work of art.. The rooms inside are detailed with great peices of stone.. Beautiful...The over look from the 9th floor balcony is breath takintaking.. I wish they would do some up keep on the outside base looks to be deteriorating in some spots.. The tour guide needs a little sharpening up on details but all in all a nice tour. I wish I could see a preformence in the theater section the sound in that building would be awesome.

The George Washington Masonic National Memorial is an amazing part of history. My personal tour was amazing. Graham was very knowledgeable and a history major in college which made the tour even better. The observation deck has gorgeous views of Alexandria and the Potomac river. The architecture was phenomenal, and one of a kind. I recommend the tour to anyone interested in U.S. History and our 1st President.

So much history here! We ran across this place when we canceled our Mt Vernon visit due to the weather. I feel like we learned so much, yet everything still shrouded in mystery. Beautiful architecture and art, great information from our tour guide and a peak into a notoriously private "fraternity". Highly recommend this place! Right now, due to COVID and staffing issues, your only way to see this museum is by tour. Check their website for pricing and more tour info.

A beautiful building standing tall and proud, like I would have imagined George Washington did. We did the tour and I'm so glad we did. Such a magnificent place.

Every Mason should visit this place, and non Masons will likely enjoy it too. The architecture and statues are beautiful to behold. Right now the upper floor and observation deck are closed to the public, but when they come back I'm sure it will be even more impressive.

A really cool experience touring this building that looms over the area. They have a large collection of artifacts and exhibits covering the history of freemasonry and George Washington as well in an impressive art deco building with a nice observation deck up top. The tours do cost $20 for an adult and should be reserved ahead of time, but even with the free attractions in the area, this is worth a visit. It would be nice if the hillside around could be converted to something more like a public park, as they are clearly struggling to maintain the landscaping. Being adjacent to the metro, it would make the whole area nicer.

The George Washington Masonic National Memorial is 100% worth a visit (keep in mind that it's a $20 entrance fee, but it's worth the price). We were there on a Sunday afternoon, and it was not too busy. There are a lot of pictures of other temples throughout the country. You get to see multiple rooms that are really great to see. We went on the tour with a guide - which was very good. One artifact that I particularly though was cool was the trowel that's been used on so many famous buildings around our country; another was the trunk that Washington brought with him throughout the Revolutionary War. Another highlight of the trip was getting to go to the 9th floor and out on the observation deck which provided 360 degree views of the surrounding area (Alexandria, into Maryland, and of course DC). It's well worth the time - and the views are stunning.

This was my first time visiting this incredible landmark. It was lit up in honor of a special panel that I was lucky enough to attend. What little I saw of the building is absolutely breathtaking! The skill, artistry, and pure craftsmanship is like nothing I have ever seen.

Loved visiting here. Fascinating place with an amazing history and the views from the observation tower are spectacular. Even if the Freemasons are not of interest to you there is much more to this place. But as a Memorial to George Washington. It is filled with artifacts of the nations 1st president. Imo not to be missed if you are in Alexandria.

Great location in the heart of Alexandria. There is a cemetery on the same parcel of land. Traditional pews inside the church. It definitely worth a visit. I walk by it most of the days when walking to the water. We drive by it when touring our real estate clients through Old Town Alexandria.

There was no tour guide, but the doors were open. The yellow sanctuary was beautiful and I could just envision George Washington attending church service there.

This is an incredible historic and religious venue. I'm visiting from Carson City Nevada I'm ere attending a memorial service for a relative. Christ Church is in Episcopal Church from the mid-1700s! It is in incredible repair. Coming from the mountain west, we have nothing comparable in age . I refer you to their website. Where there is a tremendous amount of contemporary and historic information.

An absolutely sublime and beautiful Colonial church building that opened its doors in 1773 (the church community - or parrish as Anglicans call it - is even older). George Washington was a founding member. Presidents have worshipped there. Go.

Christchurch is listed in Alexandria, Virginia. The church opened its doors in 1773 to serve Church of England’s Fairfax Parish. George Washington helped fund the construction of the church, and attended services when he was in Virginia. Robert E Lee was confirmed at Christ Church and married Mary Custis, Washington’s step-great granddaughter at Christ Church.

One of the oldest churches in our area. With George Washington and Robert E Lee attending this church 100 years apart from one another time. It is historical landmark worth visiting.

Christ Church is a most see when in Alexandria. Full of history. We actually have an ancestor buried in the church cemetery which is full of historic gravestones. General Washington among others attended church in this building. The staff are so friendly and knowledgable. Stop by!

My husband and I held our wedding ceremony at Carlyle House and it was absolutely beautiful! The staff were fabulous to work with and Jaclyn did a wonderful job working with our wedding coordinator to make sure the ceremony and photos went smoothly. We are so happy!

Good, short activity if you are into historical tours. Not a very big space. But the staffs were friendly and the guided tour was good too. Had a good experience.

The walking tour takes about 40 min with a short movie explaining the history of Carlyle. The tour costs $5 per adult and it is at the top of the hour. It was interesting to hear and see some of that history. When we went the AC was not working so it was so hot inside!

A fantastic historical gem. The birthplace of the concept of taxation without representation that ultimately lead to the New World's separation from English rule. Beautiful Garden outback...take the indoor historical tour but don't miss the garden

This guided tour was worth every cent we paid (which was only nominal anyway). Beautiful home and our guide gave us TONS of history behind the construction, the family, and many connections to Alexandria and the area. I was so engrossed in the tour that I forgot to take photos, except this one of the outside courtyard.

I am a harpist and I recently played for a wedding on the back veranda of the Carlyle House. It was easy to wheel my concert grand harp around the right side of the building and set up my instrument with the exquisite garden as my backdrop. It was the perfect area for a small wedding and even with the no electronic amplification policy, my harp was perfectly able to fill the space acoustically. I highly recommend this venue for a simple yet elegant wedding ceremony.

We really enjoyed our tour & visit of The Carlyle Historic House in Alexandria VA recently. It was a nice surprise to find it close by to us. It was a perfect Sunday afternoon activity. We love visiting historic sites & learning more about our history!! Such a wonderful surprise!!! Thankful it was restored & preserved for us to learn and enjoy!!

I'm an Alexandria based wedding photographer and have photographed several elopements and engagements at Carlyle House. Both the elopements I'm sharing photos from were cloudy days, but the beauty of the house and garden still shines through! It's smaller and easy to get around, but still offers a good variety of backgrounds for photos! Also, because it's in the heart of Old Town Alexandria, you always have the option to get photos at Carlyle House, then venture the streets of Old Town! You need a permit to have your photos here, so be sure to connect with their office early to get the time/date that works best for you and your photographer!

We had a 45 minute tour of the building. Some rooms are closed to the public. Very informative tour of the inner workings of the household and family. Also at one point this house was a water front property until landfill extended the shoreline.

Just had time to go around the grounds a bit and see the beautiful gift shop plus the lower level area. There was a wedding ceremony in the gazebo on a beautiful fall day! Very friendly and informative woman working that day in the gift shop. I bought some locally handmade Parsonage soap. Must go back next trip when I have more time to get the full tour. I do appreciate the way the history is being revised to reflect enslaved people in their proper context. It is also wonderful that this place is vibrant with modern day happenings like weddings and yoga lessons.

What a great little museum! I stopped in on a rainy day, paid $8 and learned a ton from my guide! We went upstairs to a room that hasn’t changed in at least 100 years! You won’t regret this stop.

This was a really great tour! Our guide, Simon, was enthusiastic and knowledgeable about not only the building and story behind the owners but also the contextual history during the time period the apothecary was operational. Seeing the building and its contents in its original form was not only educational but also entertaining (I'll pass on the Fowler's Solution). Highly recommend!

Highly recommend the guided tour if you are into history/historic buildings. The tour allows you to go upstairs and see where medicines were made. Call ahead for times. Without the tour, allow yourself about 30 minutes in this museum. Guided tour was 45 minutes I believe. Probably not suitable for very young children.

Interesting pharmacy museum. I gave it three stars instead of four or five because 1) I don’t care for being forced into guided tours. 2) The tour was too short (30 minutes) 3) We were supervised like little school children. I understand that everything in the building is historical and needs to be preserved, but while we were in courage to ask questions, they were also quick to usher us out to receive the last tour of the day. I spent more time getting to the museum than I did actually getting to enjoy it. If I had never visited a pharmacy museum before or an apothecary museum before, I would have been even more disappointed.

I wish this had been a five star visit. It had the potential to be very cool. This is a one room museum with a small upstairs area. The apothecary’s history is interesting. The museum has old bottles and vials that paint a fantastic picture of what / how medicine was handles a hundred years ago. Many of the ingredients are still used today. There are typewritten letters from the pharmacy as it struggled to handle the prohibition and a few references to the city’s historical figures Now here’s where the museum lost me. The knowledgeable staff were unorganized. They had you step out of the room if they had to go do something or check their cell phones, even though there were 3 staffers in an area the size of my living room. Very awkward. Also, about 20mins after we purchased our tickets to visit the apothecary, they said we had to leave Bc they had a pre-planned tour and could not have both the “self-guided” and paying your in the room at the same time (less the self guided would hear the paying docent’s your). When I asked why they had sold us tickets, they said that no one usually stays more than five or tens minutes. So, I’m not sure what to make of that. It wasn’t as if the staff were kids or volunteers. Clearly city employees who know a great deal about the apothecary but didn’t know how to handle the museum aspect.

Worth the trip, very cool place, tons of retro style syrups and syrums. It is shocking as to how preserved this place is considering there a sweet greens nearby. Also the gift store is cute too.

Totally worth the guided tour so you can go upstairs to see where the actual meditation was made. I’d also advise not being on the last tour of the day of you might have to miss a couple things. The museum was neat. The guides were knowledgeable even though our guide was on her first day she said. Definitely a must if you are into the history of pharmacy herbs or modern medicine. Don’t just pop in like we did if you want the guided tour or you might have to come back. Times are iffy. Check the website. You can go in for $5 but you miss a lot without the tour. As a nurse, places like this have always fascinated me. This place, one of the city's original pharmacies, is phenomenal. Well worth the $5 to walk around the small space. Be aware that the guided tours are only available in the afternoon starting at 1:15pm, so if you get there when it opens at 11am, you're limited to just the ground floor. Still, the history behind this place is incredible and the docent was very knowledgeable. It is a fantastically preserved marvel. The stories of who used to come there (such as Martha Washington and Robert E. Lee) really bring the history alive. Almost everything inside is preserved as it was back in the early 1800's, including what is inside the bottles. They've removed the hazardous things like chloroform and arsenic, but the bottles are still there. Some of what you see is still used today. For example, up until recently, syrup of ipecac was used in some places to induce vomiting for poisoning. There's also a book that describes the uses for each item. Doesn't take long to go through, but definitely worth a stop if you're visiting Alexandria.

Wonderful historical landmark. The guides are very knowledgeable and friendly. Admission is $5 which helps fund the museum but if you are a Alexandria resident it’s free! There are also many other local historic museums to visit in Alexandria.

I loved the guided tour and the tour guide did a fantastic job. Lots of fun information about not only the apothecary but some of the medical knowledge at the time. Definitely get tickets in advance they sell out quickly for bigger groups.

Fun and educational - this apothecary is small, and the gift shop has some very cool items. We didn’t plan ahead for the full tour so we only saw downstairs. Our guide was well informed, asking questions helped the tour. Items were interesting and authentic. It opened in 1792 - things were quite different back then. Definitely worth $5 - a small investment in history.

Great tour. It was so interesting to learn about the 4 humors and the stuff people put in their bodies. Great for Harry Potter fans.

They have basic tour of the first floor and afternoon tours of the upper floor. I went for the basic. The female tour guide knew what she was talking about and was able to answer my questions and even suggested one of the books in the gift shop. The tour only cost about five dollars and it was worth. I also bought the book she suggested. Most of the items are from the time period. In other words, from the bottles to the ingredients it is mostly ORIGINAL. Don't touch! I would have taken more photos but the tour guide was so great to talk to I forgot... They had a mat that was the copy of the wooden floor under it. So you could see what the wood looked like but it was also protected. 141 years in the SAME family.

Cute place to visit. Have a beer!

One of alexandria's excellent historical museums. It details the history of taverns in early American history and in alexandria specifically. The displays offer detailed and interesting historical tales, and although the museum is small, it can take a while to get through. $5 for adults, but alexandria residents are free. It combines well with a visit to the tavern next door. A great stop for history buffs.

I've taken the guided tour twice and glad I did. Each time I learned such interesting information. This place was important in the early years of our country's formation and George Washington came here often. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. The gift shop has many lovely things for children and history lovers at reasonable prices.

$5 to tour hotel museum or $8 for guided tour. Great gift shop too! No restroom, but there is one in the basement in the historic tavern/restaurant next door. We had a good lunch there & loved the warm apple cider. Reasonable prices. Lots of shops within a few blocks & Potomac marina within walking distance too.

We greatly enjoyed stopping by here. For only $5 a person, we were happy to support the preservation and historic work of the museum. It's always interesting to peer into the everyday life of the past. Staff was friendly and helpful. Next time, we will consider stopping for lunch at the tavern next door.

Booked a company luncheon here for 23 people. I called and emailed about a dozen restaurants in Old Town and most did not bother to try earn our business. However Tricia got us all set up with a private room and delicious food! Our waitress Abby was on top of everything too! I can't wait to go back and night for a special dinner with my spouse!

Cool atmosphere, delicious food. We went at lunch with a large group and there was only one server working that day. I was impressed with how she managed the tables and still brought us hot food out at the same time. I have the French dip sandwich and it was delicious

Fun place to check out in old town Alexandria to learn about some of the history of the area. My toddler loved running in the ballroom. If you can attend one of the balls it's well worth it and a fun experience.

What a little gem of American history. Gary did a fantastic job of bringing that history to life with his tour. The museum is set up for self-guided tours, but if there's a docent available, you'll have a much better experience - the stories are great! Pat in the gift shop was super friendly and helpful as well. A bargain at only $5!

The Gadsby’s Tavern Museum is a really cool museum that is steeped in history. Founding fathers slept, ate and celebrated many occasions here. High recommend for a intimate experience back into history.

The host who checked us in was very friendly and enthusiastic on answering any questions we had before and after our self guided tour. She made sure everyone was kept safe during this time of covid. The tavern was very beautiful and fascinating !

Fall is such a treat at Huntley Meadows! This continues to be one of our favorite places to visit. The visitor center has excellent information on local birds. The volunteers are also filled with a wealth of knowledge. If you’ve visited during the spring and summer, come back for the leaves turning. Really beautiful.

This park is paradise for nature and wildlife lovers. We went for a casual walk and saw turtles, beavers and lots of birds. The broad-walk on the marshy land is awesome. I had no clue that this place is a gold mine for birdwatchers, will carry my binoculars next time for sure!! 110% recommend, must visit multiple times.

Very nice spot to go for a walk and immerse yourself into nature. Much better than virtual world that is trying to come about in the future. Nature is beautiful and as humans we need to step out of our homes to appreciate its beauty. Bring a canvas, notebook, camera to capture this lovely place essence. Bring also a friend who will feel peace and will have a wonderful time.

NO DOGS ON BOARDWALK! NOT EVEN IF CARRIED!! This place is gorgeous! But know before you go with your pet, that dogs are not allowed on the boardwalk, but they are allowed on the trails. We went on a Sunday afternoon and the visitor center was open and the restrooms were clean. Have some cash on you, as the park welcomes donations.

This is one of the best parks I have ever been to. The trails were clean. The nature was beautiful. There were many spots you can stop to enjoy the views or take photos. We saw frogs, snakes, many types of birds, turtles... And the best one for us was muskrets. We had a great time at the park.

I love walking around Huntley Meadows Park. The pond changes with the seasons and I can watch different wildlife with each one. There are baby animals in the Spring, and frogs making a ton of noise at night in the fall. Many kinds of birds, and people that take wildlife photos. I enjoy the sunsets there when the sun reflects on the water. I usually walk the trails all around the park twice, which totals around 3 miles.

This is such a great place to take the kids (of all ages!) to explore. A trip in March was full of pointing out tadpoles and turtles. Local birders are always open to telling you about the wildlife. We were most recently charmed to discover beavers had set up a dam right by the path. Dogs aren't allowed on the boardwalk portion of the trail, FYI.

Lots to see, but even if there isn't much wildlife around it's still a nice area to walk around. Plenty of signage with information including the wildlife you might see. Lots of photographers like this area, kost of them are also happy to answer your questions and point out what they're looking for. Note that dogs are not allowed in the boardwalk. There are a few lots where you can park, the lot by the Visitor Center has the most spaces.

This well-maintained wetland sanctuary is a haven for bird watchers, photographers and wildlife enthusiasts. I highly recommend visiting this nature preserve. It is a great spot to watch migratory and local birds and other forms of wildlife. Parking is not enforced but on a suggested donation basis, giving broke people and those under financial duress a chance to see nature. The visitor center has great information about all the sites and recommendations. It’s off the path on the left side from the Lockheed Blvd entrance.

Absolutely beautiful nature park with trails, sound of insects and frogs and all other wildlufe, not too busy but not too far from the traffic. I absolutely enjoyed it. It is not absolutely dog friendly. Dogs can go up to a certain point.

If you want to get fresh air with scenery, animals, and a great walk all for free take a trip to Huntley Meadows. My son and I have been walking from our home to the park for years. You will run into numerous photographers because of the unique birds in this part of the US. You will find turtles, birds, hawks, eagles, beavers, muskrats, swans, woodpeckers, and more. This is a kid-friendly location, so bring your kids if they love nature!!! There is a second part to this park heading to Kingstown if you jog or ride a bike also.

Just love it here. Such an interesting place. Always something new to see and more to learn. I did one of their evening programs and learned so much! Great place to teach kids about nature, great place for bird watching, great place to hike.

Huntley Meadows is so magical! I love going for a walk here and taking in nature. I find it so amazing that this beautiful park is found in the middle of Alexandria. Just a few minutes from my house. I have visited the park all parts of the year and all are beautiful times to come. We recently visited after a heavy snow fall and it looked just like being in Narnia. I have also come right after a heavy rainfall and it is amazing seeing all the water flowing and the ducks having a grand ol time. The entire walk around is about 2 miles I think.

Great place to visit a wetland to view the diverse wildlife that inhabits the unique environment. Easy walking trails with a really nice walkway to access close views of the entire place. Perfect for a family outdoor trip! Definitely take you camera.

Great wide, paved path that's pretty flat with beautiful lake view at the end. There is a little unpaved loop around a pretty little pond along the way. Dog friendly to the lake overlook, but not to extended path past the overlook. Parking lot is a little small and fills up fast. No bathroom, but the trailhead is across from a gas station.

It is a park where you can feel refreshed little by little in the beautiful nature when you want to have your time sometimes. Birds can fly in groups, swim, and discover the rules of nature in their movements. I think it is a grateful place to receive a time of healing from animals and plants.

Beautiful natural wild life park with free parking. The only down side is public toilet. Rest it's beautiful specially during summer.

Huntley Meadows Park is one of the best nature walks I have ever encountered. They have wood bridges and walkways through the meadows and over the water. The elevated area with stairs allowed me to get a panoramic view of the lake and wildlife - very breathtaking. I appreciated all the benches to sit and rest on the nature trail. I, also, experienced many sightings of serpents - the most in my lifetime. It was very crowded on a Sunday afternoon yet it was still a pleasant time at the park. We saw cranes and turtles but mostly serpents. You can get a stamp for your passport park book at the visitor center. They do have a separate paved bike trail for bicycles. The paved hiking trail through the meadows does not allow bicycles. I was surprised at how friendly the serpents were and how they did not mind being photographed. This is a GO SEE park and worth visiting again many times. Admission is free. The visitor center has a lot of information about the park to explore as well.

Beautiful park with all sorts of wildlife to see. Can take a walk through wooded areas and along the boardwalk that goes through two ponds. It's a nice and relaxing way to spend a couple of hours.

We toured both the Woodlawn and Pope-Leighey houses. There are limited tour slots so it may be advantageous to book your tours ahead of time - some persons that showed up that day were unable to tour, too. The tour guide was fantastic, informative, and engaging. Highly recommended if you are in the area, especially if you are a fan of Frank Lloyd Wright houses..!

An enjoyable experience but the FLW house tour was much better than the Woodlawn tour. The Woodlawn guide was repetitious and ignored the house and furnishings. While the FLW house is very typical, the history of this one being moved makes it especially interesting.

Beautiful Christmas tour of a Frank Lloyd Wright home led by Shawn. The house was decorated and appeared like it would be in the 1940s. Very Inspired by Wright's use of wood, light, and space. Very reminiscent of Japanese architecture and very minimalistic. Wright emphasized the living room as a center of the family home to create social cohesion. Everything in this home he built emphasized purpose and simplicity. The floating roof for the carport was impressive and the entrance area for the tour. Hot apple cider was provided while we waited for the tour to start. Sean provided detailed and sentimental information of the past owners of the house, its history, and how it was a "home". It was very enlightening and heart felt. The staff was very professional and courteous. The price of the tour was $15 a person and the gift ship items were fairly priced. Bathrooms were a walking distance from the tour area.

Our tour guide Susan was excellent and made the entire experience VERY worthwhile. She is very knowledgeable and pointed out several noteworthy subtleties we may have otherwise not noticed. We have visited several Frank Lloyd Wright properties, and while this was the smallest, it was our favorite thanks largely to Susan.

61st Annual Woodlawn Needlework Show at the Pope-Leighey House (March 1 -31). Fantastic collections of needlework. Volunteers are pleasant and eager to share their knowledge of the house, exhibitors, and needlework techniques. Don't miss Nelly's Cafe in the Underwood Room - the lemon tart is divine!

We came here to tour the Pope-Leighey House, and we had a great time. Having visited many other Frank Lloyd Wright houses, this one was very nice for being much more approachable than so many of them. It being comparatively smaller means you don’t feel overwhelmed but can still enjoy all the little architectural flairs that mark Wright’s other houses. We had Susan as our guide, and she was great. Very knowledgeable and good at keeping things moving. Although it was under construction when we went, the majority of the tour is inside anyway, so you don’t miss much. And best of all, this house has lots of chairs to sit down in and enjoy the house while you get the context narrative. I wish more house museums followed this idea.

We went on a field trip with our homeschooling group here and absolutely loved it! It was the perfect experience for all ages. It's never too early or too late to learn about sustainable farming and to care about where our food comes from. Thank you for the great time!

Had an incredibly delightful afternoon, visiting and hearing the story of the pope Leighy house. We had the worlds best docent. She was a frank Loyd Wright, Devotee. Kim Groner was an excellent communicator and storyteller. Highly recommend a visit.

The FLW house is impressive and we especially loved the insights given by the tour guides. Woodlawn is very well preserved with period decor that takes you back to that era.

We visited Pope-Leighey house on Sunday before Memorial Day. We were running late because of all the street closures in Washington, DC and also because our GPS took us about 1/2 mile further than necessary. By the time we got to the right spot we were 40 minutes late. The guide said she can wait for us and we were so thankful for that. When you park your car at the parking lot the Pope-alright house is in the opposite direction than the main farm house. As other Frank Lloyd Wright’s Usonian houses it has a flat roof, build in furniture, and efficient design. It feels so clean and welcoming. We were the last tour of the day and thanks to the gracious volunteer guide we actually get to see the house. Thank you!

Cute little visitors center. Very informative and helpful. I was suggested to purchase the "keys to the city," excellent buy for sightseeing museums in town. Visit the visitors center before exploring the city!

We stopped at the Visitor Center after we grabbed our morning coffee, to see what was happening in Old Town. We finished our coffee in the comfy seats on the porch. Then after we checked out the extensive information inside, the helpful staff asked if we were interested in a walking tour. It turned out that there was one leaving from there within a few minutes and we decided to go. The price was very reasonable and our guide, (Ashley?) was so friendly and knowledgable. There is so much history and historical architecture around every corner, from as far back as the 1700's. Just imagining George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and other Forefathers roaming these streets was worth the visit.

During the Alexandria Art Festival, the French Restaurant Brabo, served samples of wine and duck on the porch of the Visitor Center, delicious. On two separate occasions, I found events with questionable details. I called the Visitor Center, and they were very helpful in providing me, with the correct information.

Nice little visitor center where they have free maps and they also had a scavenger hunt that we enjoyed.

The volunteers were friendly and very helpful. I enjoyed my time there. They gave me all the information I needed.

Super friendly staff! I rode the Amtrak up from Norfolk/ Virginia Beach and this was my first stop for maps and guides since DC does not have a proper tourist information center. They have a wide variety of maps and visitors guide from the whole area! Nice clean bathrooms also!

The workers were so helpful and friendly. We stopped by two days in a row and they recognized us & remembered where we were visiting from! Super convenient that they sell stamps right in the office

I was visiting the African American Heritage Park when I noticed an Arlington-like cemetery beyond the trees... I made my way over there and was blessed by what I saw. Alexandria National Cemetery... I'd never heard of it. Beautifully landscaped solemn grounds memorializing those who sacrificed for this country.

I occasionally spend time in the area and finally was able to spend time here at the Alexandria National Cemetery. I enjoyed reading the history of this cemetery and the history of the national cemetery system (was not aware!). The grounds are solemn and well kept. My thoughts and prayers to all the service members here and their families. I'm glad I was able to spend some time here, learn about this place, and dwell on so many people's sacrifices.

It’s beautiful. There isn’t much I can say except there is so much history in this one spot. It’s peaceful, well maintained and I enjoyed reading about the history. If you want some quite time wonder and read about all who they there. Just beautiful.

Fireflies at sunset, it's a beautiful and surreal place. Reminds me of a combination of The Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean.

Had a great time placing Flags for Memorial Day at Alexandria National Cemetery

Alexandria National Cemetery is a historic cemetery established in the mid-1800s and maintained by the government. The gravestones look similar to those found at the famous Arlington National Cemetery. What's interesting about the Alexandria National Cemetery is that there are other cemeteries right behind it with older history and gravestones. Together, they make a peaceful place for a stroll to reflect on life.

Clean, quiet and beautifully maintained, the cemetery is in the western portion of the Wilkes Street Cemetery complex. It's a collection of cemeteries dating as part back to 1751. If your into local history do a web search for the complex and Old Town Alexandra history to download a walking tour. It's a few blocks from the subway and boarders the US patent office where there is a tiny modern museum / exhibition space.

Always a good experience at Port City Brewing. Great variety of Craft beers. Service is always really good and fast. Wish they had trays or paddles or something for carrying Beer Flights. Very dog friendly. Lots there during this visit. The Food Truck (didn't catch the name) had awesome Wood Fired Pizzas. Invite them back please. Will be back.

We really enjoyed this place. The beers were good. The sampler is a good option. You get 6 of the 5 ounce tastes for $12. Decor and patio are nice. Service was great. I would definitely recommend this place.

Great brewery with a focus on more traditional beer styles. Fair prices and great spaces for social gatherings both indoors and outdoors. Bike friendly with plenty of bike racks as well. There is typically a food truck on the scene in case you need a bite to eat.

Nice large brewery with many different drinking areas, including a large outdoor beer garden. Beers are all solid, with a handful of seasonal offerings. No wine or seltzer options for anyone not drinking. Food offerings are minimal as well (cheese and charcuterie), unless there is a food truck. We came during peak Omicron, so we appreciated the contactless ordering from the QR codes posted on the outside picnic tables. If you are visiting Alexandria, definitely worth a stop- especially on a nice day.

Amazing fresh beer, great staff, ambiance is so welcoming. Setting has space for all sorts of events and gatherings. Make sure to pick up some beer to go! Definitely top 5 USA breweries on my list!

Do you like light beers, dark beers, heavy beers, smaller beers, award-winning beers, and great service/atmosphere? If so, check these guys out! They make some of the best beers in the region (for me, the Optimal Wit, the Porter, and most of the lagers stand out) and to top it off they're some of the coolest folks around. We go at least once or twice a month (we're runners, and they host a weekly run club on Mondays), and I never leave disappointed. They're a very dog friendly brewery, so I get the additional benefit of meeting a lot of new canine friends. Ample indoor and outdoor seating is available. The only small caveat is they don't have a robust food selection (chips and prepackaged sandwiches), but they're fine with folks bringing snacks/food, and I think they have food trucks most weekends.

Love the beer, love the atmosphere, and love how dog friendly they are (both indoors and outdoors)! They also have food trucks on some nights, and other nights you can order pizza or bring food if you want.

I stopped by on a Friday afternoon just to check this place out and have a beer. It was relatively empty so the staff were attentive. I chose a Hoppy Brown which was satisfying and tasted just like the name. I had a little taste of their Hazy IPA and that was enough to get me to buy a four pack to go. Small tasting room that is fairly plain. I didn’t check out the rest of the inside. Apparently there are more seating areas. It was definitely low key as others have described it. Plenty of outdoor seating with nice lighting. Parking was easy right next to the door as well as a parking lot across the street. Their beers are all solid so I don’t think that you can miss. It’s definitely worth a visit!

A lively place to go to taste their beers and hang out with friends. The beer flights are a cheap and easy way to try the menu. Food is available in food trucks outside. Do note that if you want to tour the brewery, you have to show up right on time. We missed it and will have to go back.

Nice little brewery. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Had some very good beers. If I'm ever in the area again I will surely stop again.

Visited from out of state and it was an amazing experience! Highly recommend the tour on weekends as you learn a lot about the history of the brewery and how their operations work. All workers there provided excellent customer service and my tour guide was great! Definitely will visit again when I'm in town as Port City provides excellent quality beer at a great price for consumers (especially in 4 and 6 packs to go)!

BOOK YOUR PRIVATE EVENT HERE!! Amazing location for a private event. We reserved the Lighthouse Lounge for a private event of about 40 people. We were able to bring our own separately contracted catering, decorate, and have accesses to the exclusive space well in advance of the event. Ryan, the event manager, was very responsive, answered all our questions and gave us the best advice. Andrew the bartender for our event was incredible, professional, and engaging, and Shawn the evening manager was constantly checking in with us to ensure our event was going smoothly and we had everything we needed. You cant beat the rates, the exclusivity of the Lighthouse Lounge or the service. We will almost certainly host another event here!

After leaving Harrisonburg VA this afternoon, my work travels took me to Arlington/Alexandria VA. The closest Brewery to me was Port City. I checked out the Beer List and decided this sounded like my kind of place. They specialize in Lagers of all styles. Each one was unique, distinctive, and delicious. Once again I found myself at a loss of which was my favorite. They do flights of 6 at a time and provide you with tickets which you turn in for each sample. I tried 2 at a time, which made it easy to pair up my sample. I started with the Downright Pilsner and Pizza Night Lager. Then I moved on to the Mexican Dark Lager and the Schwarzbier Black Lager. Finally ended with the Helles Lager and the Oktoberfest. They gave me a freebie of the Porter. In all honesty, I could not choose one as my favorite as I felt all of them offered something I enjoy in my craft beer. If you've not checked them out, please do so. You won't be disappointed. Especially if you like Lagers!

This is City Hall. Old building and poorly maintained. It is pretty on the outside. The fountain is nice when it operates.

Alexandria, VA has a rich colonial port city past, modern walkable parks flanking the beautiful Potomac river, unique stores, small museums, farmers markets and all manner of creative arts, civics and business within close proximity to the nations capital.

The 50th Alexandria Scottish Christmas Walk Parade was held along the streets around City Hall. The parade consisted of Scottish military bands, city dignitaries, and period reenactors, and Santa, to mention just a few of the parade participants. The parade was well received and there was great weather for the event.

Rachel was an amazing help to myself and my husband yesterday. She went above and beyond in helping us with our property tax issue. We are so grateful to have someone like her work at the city hall of Alexandria! We are also grateful to her supervisor who spoke with Rachel and helped with solving our situation. Please give Rachel a raise, she deserves one!

I have Autism. City of Alexandria has miserably failed me. City of Alexandria is one of the worst places for Autistic people to live. If you have Autism, do NOT come to live here. Most services only have a phone number. I cannot talk on the phone. Even when I leave a written message where I can, they CALL me back and offer me to CALL them back. City of Alexandria does not care about Autistic people. The noise ordinance is a bad joke. They literally do not do anything. I have neighbors with two extremely loud dogs. The dogs bark all day, every day. I experience multiple sensory overloads every day. It got so bad that I want to kill myself. When I wrote to Animal Control, she CALLED me and left a voicemail. In the voicemail, she said - "Oh look, they are so happy to see you!" After that, my family member who can talk on the phone, made multiple complaints. Absolutely nothing was done. Most of the times, they did not even bother to show up. There are no outdoor fire pit use ordinances either. When all of my neighbors start using their smoky fire pits at once, I literally cannot breath, even inside my house. I have hypersensory perception. There is always endless loud (100+ Db) construction going on, especially in the warmer months. The construction noise got so bad that even owls which lived in a park nearby left, because they could not get any sleep during the day. There are many idiots living in the city who have altered their car motors to draw more fuel and sound incredibly loud (120+ Db) and atrocious and use these cars to run an illegal race along Duke Street and I-395 in the middle of the night. Neither City of Alexandria nor Alexandria PD seem to do anything about it. City of Alexandria couldn't care less about people like me. If you have Autism, please do NOT come to live in this wretched city - or you will suffer like I do.

I've found that this place gives the BEST value for your used car! Bring your title and they will give you top dollar, especially over whatever a dealer would give you for a trade-in or selling it to a private party. My 2 year old car is now worth $3000 more than what I paid for it. Bling bling!

The first time I came here last month (new resident) I was treated pretty poorly for not having all the right documents. That same woman provided me a list of what I was missing. This morning, I returned armed with knowledge, only to discover I was still missing documents not previously outlined! Instead of treating me like a second class citizen, Mitch was very kind and understanding and patient and helpful. He did not shoo me away to get on to the next, but worked with me right then and there so that I did not have to return a third time. How hard was that? It wasn’t so much that I received “above and beyond” customer service, but that I received it in the first place. Treating people how you want to be treated goes a long way. Thanks, Mitch, for being a decent human being.

We just saw Annie and this enthralling show at this local theatre was awesome! The actors were incredibly entertaining, captivating, and dedicated. Annie was so talented, and Daddy Warbucks, which is a tough role to pull off, nailed it. The sets were great, music on point, and my family really enjoyed the production. The best part was at the end, when my 7 year turned to me and said, “ I want to be an actor.” We look forward to supporting the arts more and supporting the Little Theatre of Alexandria. More family friendly shows and we will be front and center!

The Little Theatre of Alexandria is one of the best community theatres in the DC Metro area. They have their own building (which makes them one of the only community theatres in the U.S. that has one) with plentiful rehearsal rooms, a lovely Shakespeare garden, and a stage with dazzling chandeliers. They have fantastic classes taught by incredible teachers (some highlights include Voice Acting with Mike Baker and Improv with Keely Kirk). If you are interested at all in theatre, I highly recommend looking for opportunities here whether it be performance or otherwise. It has been a joy to learn and perform at LTA. The costumes are of the utmost quality, and the sets are stunning. The lighting and stage crew are all extremely professional and they have fabulous Directors for all of their shows. I just had the pleasure of seeing Sister Act along with my 6 year old daughter. The performance and cast did a phenomenal job and I highly recommend it. The Director extended an invite to my 6 year old daughter to meet the cast after the show. He was very kind and the entire staff was truly very accommodating and friendly. He made our first experience attending a show at the Little Theatre of Alexandria one that we will never forget and always cherish. Highly recommend and we will definitely be back! Thank you LTA.

Visited the little Theater of Alexandria this past weekend to see A Christmas Carol. The facility is adorable and the show was a delightful hour of holiday cheer. The building features fairly comfy seats and offers limited accessible seating and restroom facilities. Parking is typical for a city like Alexandria. Visit the theater website for instructions.

Nice cozy theater. We couldn't take photos inside so sorry, nothing to show. My only "not so positive" feedback is that I wish there were more bathrooms and that they allow water bottles in the theater or provide some during intermission (only one water fountain). It's a long time with nothing to drink for me. 😁 Other than that, it's a great place to see a show.

Wonderful community theater group has a long history of staging excellent productions in a beautiful old building. Affordable tickets, intimate atmosphere. Highly recommended for tourists and locals.

Just saw the best rendition of Murder On The Orient Express at The Little Theater Of Alexandria. Could have fooled me - I thought I was at The Kennedy Center or The National Theater the cast was so professional and the sets were amazing. I want more

It's amateur/ volunteer theater but there's a lot of great talent in the area! Annie's voice was absolutely perfect in currant play. Minor issues with audio system last two plays, otherwise great experience.

Lovely theater, actors, and plays. Small and intimate, you see players' faces, not a bad seat in the house. They play with so much heart you don't want to miss any show. Price is a steal! For the price of two lattes and a croissant you get to see live theater, get out of the house, bring your family and friends or make new ones. Perfect for date night! I've been to West End theaters in London where you get the biggest names in showbiz playing and while this Alx theater is small scale, it is big ❤ The 230 seats are comfy and there are 2 isles on the sides, arrive early and meet your neighbors, this is a friendly place. No need to print your tickets, the usher checks you in by name, what an elegant way to arrive at a show! Powderoom is spotless and pretty (no endless lines!) and they have free snacks during the breaks and a watercooler. Kennedy Center charges $100+ for most tickets, $7 for a pack of peanut m&m, $4 for bottled water, and $40 for parking ok? Snacks and water are free at Little Theater of Alexandria. parking here is on your own, early birds can find metered street spots. Please keep munchies and incessant phone tapping for break time and don't photograph actors while they are acting, ask to take a selfie with them after the show if you meet them, they will be happy to oblige. I saw many plays at Little Theater of Alexandria over the years, some favorites: A Few Good Men, Murder on the Orient Express...I feel happy every time I get to see their productions. Yes, they are all skill levels but this is the best little theater ever. Wish they did wine and champagne tasting and meet the cast sessions. We are so lucky to have them in Alx. DON'T MISS OUT.

This is a great little venue for shows, I like the simplicity of a small theatre. My wife did a show here and enjoyed the experience. The seating is nice and for a small venue, there is a good amount. The stage and house are nice too.

Have been going to Little Theatre for years. It’s a small venue so every seat is great. They’ve followed Covid protocols in such a good way-they used cardboard cutouts between sets of seats so the theater felt full but no one was sitting next to or right by you. We had “cats” behind us! It’s a comfortable space. The caliber of the performances is terrific. This is community theater and the acting, sets, directing, etc are always very very good. It’s excellent value for dollar. The staff is super helpful. Can’t recommend it enough

We've seen two productions at LTA and they were great! Our oldest child has also done a few of the summer camps and absolutely loved them. LTA is a gem!

The museum is so interesting and seeing the fort was awesome. The guides are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. We enjoyed our visit. You can drive around the park. They are fixing the handicapped access by the main Fort gate. There are stairs to get to the casement. There is a small bridge to get down to the second parking lot behind the museum and road.

Found this little park in the middle of the city, not knowing it had so much history. Took a wal around the fort and the canons were in amazing shape. Then I saw the history and how black slaves came here to fight for their freedom. It has a old cemetery , that they ask you to respect.

We stopped in and saw it around Christmas time it was Christmas in 1860s, very informative interesting and nicely decorated, small donation otherwise no fee, hot cider served at the end was a very nice afternoon

Great park to come exercise or walk the dogs. I also love the historical area, well preserved fort with a unique history. Gets busy during summer/weekends, but It's worth a trip

This is historic site and also a park, the headquarters building is a small museum. There are artifacts and interesting stories about the forts located around the DC area. This is the best preserved civil war era fort in the DC area. They have rebuilt one of the bastian's to the original specifications and armed it with period replica cannons. Admission and parking are free.

Nice little historic stop in the Alexandria area. Museum historian was very informative. Museum is well laid out. Nice quiet place to step back into history.

Nice little Fort, one of the many built around the Capital to protect it during the American Civil War, and great place to visit in good weather. Visited it with my Mom and the staff was friendly and the museum, while small, had a lot of artifacts. The park is open to the public. I had a friend who liked to walk it during the weekends because he lived so close to it.

Ford Ward Park has a walking path, museum including small gift shop, picnic areas(covered tables can be reserved in advance), some grills and a small historic cemetery. In addition, has an Amphitheater which is part of Virginia State Parks.

What a find! I was in Alexandria for a conference and wanted an easy run in a safe place. Well, I also got some history with this as well. It is a great loop for walking and running with the history of the fort during civil war times. There are bathrooms and parking, an ampitheatre, playground and benches so there is something for everyone. Very pretty in the Spring.

Nice site. Great walking park. Museum has some amazing artifacts. The Zouave and Bingham exhibit is one of the best I've seen. Very nice memorial to the first casualties of the Civil War.
