This experience was amazing we spent 6 hours touring this site. Everyone should visit to better understand history. This museum provides a deeper appreciation of the sacrifices that were made defending our freedom. Donations are appreciated to help preserve this priceless piece of history! The retired volunteer service personnel were a wealth of knowledge. This would make a great class or group trip.

The folks who handle this park have truly done a wonderful thing. With the limited support they get, things keep improving and more and more history is restored! The USS Drum and USS Alabama are great places to bring your family! They have a great system for you to view the ship and have done a wonderful job at preserving these two great monuments! They also host several events throughout the year! If you are any where near or just love history this place is for you!!!!! If you go make sure to plan a full day! They have so much to view and read. They also have a gift shop and food cart!

What a wonderful place. It is loaded with so much memorabilia from keeps, planes, submarine and of the USS Alabama battleship. Self guided tour of everything but very informative plaques and papers and the battleship is well marked with colors and numbers. You can go into both the submarine and the Alabama. So much history and so much you don't know. The only problem is it can be cold and slippery. Make sure you dress for it. Plan to spend 4 hours easily.

This battleship was SO awesome. You can go in and out of most of the ship but just be mindful of small children and older adults. The stairs to go up the different levels of the ship are steep and there are lips at the beginning of most of them. There are bathrooms on the ship if needed. The staff is wonderful and very friendly and I’d recommend for kids ages 7 and older. There is also a submarine but there was so much to do we will have to come back!

Wear comfortable shoes because you don’t want to miss a thing on this ship or the submarine with your grandchild! Fascinating stories, delightful perspectives from every member of the ship’s crew, and info on ALL aspects of naval life including a glimpse into the Captain’s Quarters. Sit behind the gunnery & armaments to feel their power while goosebumps shiver up your spine or just try to imagine life in those confined spaces on board. Quite an adventure.

Amazing museum! Very glad I got to go! I only went on the "yellow" your (magazine, guns, and superstructure) but there were many other self-guided tours that I would have liked to go on. Regardless, it was an amazing museum! USS Drum was also very nice as well! Would definitely recommend visiting if you are in the area!

We spent hours here exploring the ship and submarine. So many places to explore, up and down stairs (wear comfortable shoes). The ship is well-maintained and you will learn a lot about the sailors life at sea. The tour is self guided, so make sure you grab a brochure. It's super big and you're able to go into most of it. Take your time and really appreciate all the work they've put into maintaining this amazing ship.

This place was awesome. Enjoyed the rich history. Enjoyed the submarine experience. Above all my favorite thing was the engine room of the shop. Hands down some of the coolest things. Our scout troop stayed the night and I would have enjoyed spending more time on board had I of known they allowed people to explore so much of the ship. This was fantastic for the boys to explore around just as much as it was for the adults. I absolutely recommend visiting and staying the night if you can. Be aware the racks you'll sleep in are very rigid so expect to basically feel as though you slept on the floor. Hope this is helpful.

Amazing experience: We got to learn about the ship and the submarine. I took us like a good 2 1/2 hours to walk the ship and submarine, we enjoyed it, but some parts are very hot, bring water with you.

Lots of fun here! It's great that you have a self tour. You can view the vast size of the historic battle ship, submarine, and aircraft inside the building. It takes several hours if you want to view everything in detail. Rich history to learn indeed.

There is so much to see and everything is well cared for. It is too bad that the self guided tours lacks any information aside from notating stops. And the ship itself doesn’t have much in the way of placards. The submarine is much better in terms of descriptions. This would be an excellent museum if everything was well labelled with a good dose of storytelling prose. Expect to spend at least 3 hrs

Amazing experience! We visited USS ALABAMA and USS DRUM with family (two adults and three small children) and had a great time. Nevertheless there are some downsides about this place. It’s a self-guided tour so if you’re familiar with military history/service then lot of the things are pretty much self explanatory. However, for those who’re not familiar with military equipment and history this experience may not be so much fun. Also, be prepared to go through very tight entrance/exit and steep stairs. If you have knee problems you may not be able to fully enjoy this visit unfortunately. Moreover, admission rates are rather high in my opinion ($18 per person regular admission for adults and $15 w/Veteran discount + $5 parking fee no exceptions) for it being a public memorial park. It would’ve been nice if the rates were somewhat lower. Even with a veteran discount the rates are still high. Fees really add up especially if you’re visiting with a larger group. Lastly if you have a wheelchair or a baby stroller/wagon you’re going to have a problem accessing 85% of the park site. All in all there’s plenty of interesting and fun things to explore. You can take lots of interesting and unique pictures in and around the battleships. Our family had a fun and enjoyable visit. If any of the above mentioned “issues” don’t bother you then this a great place to visit for sure.

The hubs is a history buff, so we knew we had to stop at the USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park on our way back to Texas. We should have planned for more time! Parking is $5, so you can enjoy all the outdoor exhibits. To visit the USS Alabama is an additional fee, but there are discounts for the military and AAA members. Here's my first tip: plan for a 3 to 4 hour trip. We spent a good amount of time on the first of three self tours. The battleship is astounding! I cannot say that enough. Everything looks so small from afar and then you're standing beside the biggest guns you may have ever seen. That changes the conversation. Keep in mind there are other exhibits on the ground, so wear your walking shoes. That's tip number 2. We parked the car and walked all the way to the dock to get a great view of the battleship. Here's the last tip: bring your camera and have a good time. And do watch the film. It's about 25 minutes and it's a great history lesson.

This was fantastic! The tour is self guided so you can really absorb the details of what you're seeing & not feel rushed. There are great displays throughout the ship that depict life aboard the ship. The entire experience makes you really appreciate the sacrifice these men made. The tour took us about 3 hours, but you can also tour a submarine and a static display of planes inside the hanger. I wouldn't suggest the tour with small children but it would be great if the children are "Scout" age or older.

We loved the 3 different self guided tours with the arrows and the numbers to follow, it was excellent and super easy! Fascinating piece of history with little factoids all along the tour routes. The inside was nice with the a/c but topside was awful with the heat, we really wanted to go all the way to the top but the metal rails were burning our hands. The hanger with all the planes was awesome as was the sub, the USS Drum. There really needs to be a light at the entrance/exit to the park because getting in and out was a nightmare. All in all a great experience though and lots of fun.

The USS Alabama is such an impressive ship to see. The entire place has so many interesting planes and vehicles to see, including an actual WWII submarine. The food in the cafeteria was very good, with excellent service from the hard working gentleman who worked there.

This is an amazing memorial museum. There is a ton to do and even more to see. We did self guided tours on the Alabama Battleship, and on the submarine. We enjoyed spending time exploring and comparing the ships. We have been to other Navy boats and this was great. This was the first battleship we explored so it put all the guided missile cruisers and smaller boats into prospective. This thing is huge. Bring your walking shoes. Check out those 16 inch guns and the rounds for it. Worth every minute ! Plan to bring the family !

Extremely fun place to take the whole family. I would plan on 2.5 hours for USS Alabama and another hour for USS Drum. Gift shop has some fun memorabilia so plan on spending a little bit of time there. The inside of the ship can get very warm in sections with less air conditioning. Definitely bring plenty of water and good walking boots! Very educational and informative. The self guide tour paths are clearly marked out so you will not get lost. Highly recommend doing the outside (yellow) tour early in the morning while the temperature is still low. There are plenty of good restaurants nearby. The cafeteria at the memorial did not have any staff so I was not able to eat there. Will definitely be back with more family member in the near future!

Spent the day at this fun and informative site. Had a great time looking at the wide variety of planes, tanks, and the ships themselves. Highly recommend at least a half day visit to truly explore the battleship and other exhibitions.

What an amazing place to spend time, learning about history, and experiencing some of it firsthand. While we arrived late in the afternoon and decided to wait to take a tour of the ship, my son and I were able to spend a couple of hours looking at all kinds of military aircraft and other hardware. Even got a chance to talk to some of the airmen who were restoring some of the old aircraft. An amazing experience, and one that we will definitely return to again and again.

The USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park is a must-see historical location in Mobile, Alabama. Within the park, you can tour the grounds and the pavilion with aircraft, tanks, artillery, boats, and memorials to explore during your visit. The USS Drum submarine and the USS Alabama Battleship are both WWII vessels you may board and tour. Discover how the USS Alabama was saved from the scrapyard in Puget Sound and brought to the Memorial Park. She is a well-kept historical landmark that had a extraordinary career.

The USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park is so much more than just the ship. Touring the ship is great and should not be missed, but there is so much more. Aircraft and tanks of every type and separate memorials to Korea and Vietnam veterans as well. On the day we visited there were young people in period uniforms that greatly enhanced the experience. A truly great place to stop.

Words can’t describe how great our visit was. This is a must see for kids and adults. The battleship is massive, wear comfortable clothing and shoes, there’s lots of climbing for those interested in seeing all it has to offer. They’ve done a wonderful job making it interesting and educational all while making it feel as if you’re allowed to explore wherever you want. Obviously that isn’t the case but it’s not all roped off like it could have been. Big takeaways…to see everything takes at minimum 4-5 hours, please see everything, it’s worth it. Bring a lunch, there’s plenty of picnic tables and even some grills. Lots of climbing but moving around the main deck is fairly easy. This place is so impressive and became the highlight of our trip!

So much history! The costumes are colorful and vibrant, the displays are nicely done. I had such a nice time learning about the history of Mardi Gras! Definitely worth the visit.

I've always associated Mardi Gras with New Orleans so this was a very eye opening experience. Well worth the price of admission. Our docent Katherine (hope I spelled her name right🤞) was such a doll! Very knowledgeable and pleasant. The costumes on display are SO elaborate and beautiful!! Such a rich history with so much tradition, pomp and circumstance. Highly recommend.

Was visiting family and never been to Mobile. Googled what to do and this was on the list. We happened to catch a tour and this guide knew everything about everything. It was very informative and entertaining! Learned so much about this unique area. So much fun!!!!

Learned a lot coming to this great Museum. Mobile Alabama, the home of Mardi Gras. The costumes are amazing and learning about the origins was definitely worth the tour. At only $8 you can not go wrong! People are very friendly and knowledgeable!!

A must see if you're in the area. So much history on the Mardis Gras. Beautiful gowns and costumes from years past. Not expensive to tour either!

The Mardi Gras Museum is one of my favorite things in Mobile. The eight dollar admission includes a ten minute film, a float room where you can take photos on a float that feels like it's moving, picture opportunities to be queen and king and a creepy looking fire truck. Then a lot of mardi gras memorabilia including dresses and dresses. Really cool ongoing tradition.

Julie, our Tour Guide, was will be versed, very informative, and a lovely person. She really made you feel at home. History and timeline are remarkable. If you're not aware of the origin and history of Mardi Gras, be sure to attend. It was my 2nd time visiting the museum. My roots or of New Orleans. It's great to wise where it all started. Very interesting, learned about Mardi Gras beginnings in Mobile. Beautiful clothing displays from previous Kings and Queens, very elaborate! Float designs, historic photos, and much more. Worth a visit! Helpful guides throughout the museum.

Fun museum and excellent tour. Besides the amazing displays, all volunteers at work here are amazing. The tour guide (Mrs. Jeanie) had a lovely explanation of everything going on. Afterwards, another colleague (apologies, we didn't catch your name) went out of her way to help us with tips on what to do around the city. We took up many of those, and our time in Mobile was a more rich experience because of it. This museum and all it's lovely people are highly recommended.

It was an interesting museum that taught us a lot of the Mobile Carnival. We had to watch a 10 minute video on it which was very slow but interesting. Then we got to see some floats and outfits but I do believe it was overpriced than what we got.

Employees really make this place as amazing as it is! They are passionate about what they do and are proud of their culture! Museum flowed well and exhibits were beautiful! There's a short video to watch before touring and a number to call to tell you info about each exhibit. The gift store was good too! We got moonpies and enjoyed them on the front porch before we left.

Absolutely a Great , Unique Museum, easily accessible from the Main Road. Plenty of free parking including for Handicap accessible Vehicles. The museum was clean and well staffed by friendly employees. Restrooms and a Gift shop available. The displays were incredible, the amount of history and historic articles are super. Guided Tours are available and Cille (I hope I spelled it right), was incredible with her knowledge of not only the museum but the city. In the area, it's a definite place to Visit.

A very unexpected experience at this place. So much history and the displays are simply insane. As we walked from room to room enjoying the craftmanship that was on display was one of a kind for us. The colors and designs are so unique you can’t believe it’s real. A fantastic way to spend a few hours enjoying the history of Mobile and suck up some A/C. Stop and check it out.

I loved attending the service here. The message was very heartfelt and meeting people here was great to see so many people filled with the Holy Spirit. This is the oldest parish and religious center in the whole area. The Cathedral has been preserved extremely well. I would love to come back here on a Sunday.

A very spirit filled parish in the heart of Mobile. I have been to Saturday Mass here several times while traveling in town. Very spacious church with a beautiful interior. Stained glass is very impressive.

The magnificent church, modeled on Roman basilica architecture, fronts a pocket park downtown, on ground it has occupied since the early 1700s. The interior is massive. Saints and artwork decorate the ceilings and giant rotunda. Stained glass windows on either side of the nave date from the 1890s to the early 1900s. In short, without getting into the politics of religion, it’s a spectacularly ambitious cathedral. Remember to feed the poor box on the way out.

I am Catholic, and while spending an overnight in Mobile, Alabama, on our way to visit our peeps in Florida, I saw this cathedral and had to visit. Absolutely a beautiful church, so rich in history, and simply an awesome holy place.

Beautiful, peaceful and also historical cathedral. I enjoyed seeing the stained glass windows that were custom made in Germany. A small garden around the Cathedral is worth walking around, well maintained and serene.

The wife and I love to see old places of worship where ever we go. This place was very impressive and well cared for. If you appreciate architecture this cathedral is worth taking a look at. The gardens surrounding the cathedral weren’t large but they were very nice and serene.

Fist off I would like to say that the architecture of the building is absolutely amazing. As I walked through the massive hand crafted wooden doors I felt goosebumps on my body. As I continued to explore the building there were so many things that made me feel the history in this immaculate structure. I was moved by not only the architecture but also by the religious history present. I proceeded to light a votive for my mother who is fighting Leukemia. It just so happens that she was getting her routine treatment. When I spoke to her after she got home from her treatment she went on to tell me how long the treatment had taken that day. She said she was exhausted but knew she had to drive herself home that night down dark country roads. She went on to tell me that when she got on the dark roads this bright star appeared and seemed to light the road up for her. She told me that the star shined on the road until she finally made it to the lite highway near her house. This left me speeches since I had not informed her that I lit a candle for her until the next day. I don't know if this was a coincidence or something special happening. Thanks for the opportunity to visit your magnificent building and I look forward to visiting the Church every time I visit Mobile!!

It's a habit when travelling with my love to visit local cathedrals and basilicas. The Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Mobile is one of the most beautiful I've ever seen. The architecture, statuary, and surrounding grounds are incredibly beautiful and the atmosphere inside is positively supernal. Don't miss the stairs down to the smaller chapel / crypt below the main floor, and make sure you visit the statues in the grounds to the left of the main doors. A simply beautiful place and worth a visit.

The Colonial Fort Condé is a replica of part of the original fort that stood at this site. During the American Revolution the British manned the fort before being defeated by the Spanish, who were American Allies. After Spanish West Florida was ceded to the US, they felt the fort was unnecessary and had it destroyed. During the reconstruction many artifacts were recovered and some original materials were reused.

Colonial Fort Conde is a nice place in Mobile, Alabama. Visit this partially reconstructed 1724 French fort in downtown Mobile. In the immersive, interactive exhibit in the heart of Historic Fort Conde, visitors can learn about the people who colonized early Mobile. See historic artifacts of Native Americans and Europeans who played large roles in the evolution of the Port City in a time shaped by innovation, conquest, plunder, piracy, and war.

Neat colonial experience in downtown Mobile. Buildings were air-conditioned which made the self guided tour much better. Information takes you from the landing of the French up and through the 1800's. Admission is done at the History Museum of Mobile, so be sure to go there first

We didn’t know we had to buy tickets at the History Museum across the street so we went in first. Just across the street walk to get tickets so not far. We then went back. It took us about 30 minutes to walk around and see everything but it was beautiful and good history for us and our kids to see. I would recommend.

I visited twice while I was in Mobile and was pretty impressed. The reconstruction is of the inner walls of the fort, but what is left is cool enough to go back and visit a second time. I loved the model recreations of the fort that are on display and our tour was very informative. I'd definitely go back when I'm in town again!

Absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately time has not been kind to the fort, but the remnants have been masterfully preserved by folks who care. Not to mention you buy admission to the fort and you also get access to the history museum right next door. Check it out 😉

The only reason I don't give 5 stars is because there were several attractions that were closed. This fort is rich in culture and history. It's $8 per adult $7.50 with military ID and $5 for children. The grounds are fairly well kept. This is a great place to visit if you want to understand about all of the different cultures that have been present in the Mobile Alabama area over its history. I highly recommend to visit to this fort and when you're finished go right next door to the Charlotte house which was a former prison then purchased by an investor and remodeled into a home. We visited June 5th, 2022, the first Sunday of each month is free. Normally, your paid admission to The Mobile History Museum includes a tour of Fort Conde. Very cool exhibition, fyi Fort Conde is a reproduction of the original Fort Conde, and that includes lower entrances and doorways because historically, people of the past were much shorter because they did not have the good nutrition, healthcare, and immunizations we have now. My husband is 6’2, seeing him stand next to the doorways was pretty funny. He really enjoyed the exhibits that included swords, guns, cannons, cannonballs, shackles, etc. A good place to take a guy, they love all the old military exhibits. My only complaint was that the building is a little hot in some places, you will feel bits of air conditioning here and there, maybe it is that way because of the way the building is constructed, and air conditioning was not around in the old days. But still fun, I saw people with their children, you can take kids here, the exhibits are well contained that you don’t have to worry about kids breaking anything. One of the kids was yelling inside the brick short doorway because he liked the echo, but I thought it was funny. This place was very informative, it helps seeing this so I can learn about Mobile now that I live here.

Fort Conde offers a detailed look at Mobile's history with artifacts and interpretive materials spanning hundreds of years. The grounds and buildings are well-maintained. Situated in the heart of downtown, it is a great place to tour, then grab lunch at one of the many nearby restaurants. Ample parking, good for all ages, and stunning views of downtown from the top of the fort's wall.

Nice museum with lots of history. Learned a lot about the area. Really enjoyed the special exhibit on Mobile. Didn't see a booklet with museum layout- we just wandered around to see everything. There is an interactive area for kids. Didn't make it to the fort as we ran out of time, but it is included in the price of admission.

This wonderful downtown museum was a delightful place to come explore on our trip to Mobile, Alabama. Located basically across the street from the rebuilt Fort Condé, it added historical information and context from before and after the Forts place in history as well as history of the Fort not covered in the replicas information. I thought the museum was a must see for the historian or even just a casual fan of history.

This was a very interesting museum at 10 per person well worth it. They have the story of mobile told in 22 items. It shares the changes of government and events like yellow fever. There's an infant casket I couldn't even bring myself to photograph. Also cool interactive children area and info on Mardi gras!

Very nice museum showing Mobile's history and place in the world. Easy to navigate in just a few hours. There is space upstairs where they have temporary exhibits. We saw a showcase on the Hubble telescope when we were there in December 2023.

We went for the free admission Saturday which occurs periodically throughout the year. Admission to the museum and Fort Conde next door. The Egypt exhibit was incredibly crowded but well worth the wait. The remainder of the museum has a great collection of artifacts and interpretive information, giving a thorough history of our fair Port City.

Enjoyed this Museum very much! We had the entire place to ourselves. There is a lot of different things to see. Nothing for children here.

We really enjoyed this visit! We try to learn about a place / city when we visit, and this was perfect - from the original inhabitants 10,000 years ago, through colonial inhabitants, world wars, and recent race relations. There was a small kids' area for our boys to run off some energy and play. Mardi Gras, yellow fever, local inventors - a lot was covered! And just enough info on each topic that we learned a lot but didn't get overwhelmed or exhausted. There was a special exhibit on the costumes of "Downton Abbey" when we were there (February 2023), which my husband and I enjoyed a lot! The Fort Condé reproduction, located across the street, is included with your admission. It took us about half an hour to go through. Note that it also closes half an hour earlier than the museum. We arrived at 2 and left as the museum closed at 5, but we are very thorough museum attendees.

We really enjoyed it. There are multiple exhibits. Very interesting!! Its our history. The museum is nice. It doesn't disappoint. You can see horse carriages, civil rights history and how far we've come, paintings, the history of Mardi Gras, the history of Mobile, and there was a NASA exhibit which had some interactive pieces.

Love this place. The exhibits are amazing, the staff is very kind and the community outreach is great. They held an Halloween event for the kiddos which resembled "Night at the Museum". It was very informative and the kids and staff all seem to have a good time.

Brian at the front desk when you first walk is in phenomenal and very educated on what and where to do things in Mobile. He was so great with our kids gave them moon pies and let them take some pamphlets. He showed us some exhibits in the museum and explained them to us. There was an interactive children’s area upstairs which was fantastic. Would recommend 10/10 to go.

This was a fun activity to take the family. There's a rich history about Mobile that I never knew and I've lived in Alabama for 20+ years. Pro Tip: The museum tour is FREE on the first Sunday of every month.

This museum and everyone who works here is extremely professional. They do their jobs in the best way, loves all the customers who come in, and answer all questions needed. There was a review that gave a one star about them being unprofessional recently. Seeing and hearing how all historians were treated shows me that all who visited were the problem, not them. Every person who works there deserves raving reviews!!

We came Sunday June 5th, the first Sunday of every month is free to the public. We saw lots of families with young children, senior citizens, tourists, locals, everybody. A tour of Fort Conde is also included. We enjoyed the exhibits, the Viking Exhibit goes on only a few more days, to June 12, 20022, see it before it leaves. We also saw a nautical themed exhibit, there is an exhibit for kids, but we skipped that. Also, exhibitions of old war uniforms, Mardi Gras costumes, and pageant dresses, including a pink cape worn by Diane Sawyer in 1964.

This museum was surprisingly impressive. I did not know what to expect, but I got the full experience of Mobile in this one place. I learned so much, and had a wonderful time doing it. It was set up well, and had a good flow with many different aspects of the city throughout, and even before its founding. Definitely worth a visit if you're into that kind of thing.

Family friendly and so much for you to learn! Plan to spend a few hours here and take your time exploring. The movies and short films shattered throughout the museum are definitely worth watching. Stop and read the quotes posted on the rails. I was amazed at all of the sayings that have a nautical origin. I really enjoyed my visit.

The GulfQuest National Maritime Museum was WAY more than we expected! We went on their free Family Day. This museum had 5 levels. There is an elevator, stairs, or a ramp to use for those who various needs. Their hands-on exhibits keep our kids busy. There were short movies to watch as well. Highly recommended if you're in the Mobile (AL) area!

Definitely bring the kids.... or anyone who enjoys fun learning about Mobile Gulf. They also explore the history and development of the entire Gulf region from initial inhabitants to the Spanish, French and modern day shipping, fishing and environmental topics. Lots of hands-on displays in a remarkable setting!

Really well done museum. Informative movies and displays that were entertaining and educational. We spent a little over three hours but I could see spending as little as an hour and a half or as much as five. The interactive things were a lot of fun, but several things were not working.

I wish I could give it a better rating. It is a nice interactive museum but many of the attractions were not available or not working. The first theater has horrible screens and we left 3 min into the film. I think the projectors are the problem. I didn’t even get to watch the other films. There is a lot of hands on stuff which is nice for kids. I did find the ship simulator at the top deck pretty immersive and it was very complicated for little ones. Lots of controls and commands. Overall though it was very affordable and took about 2 hours to go though even with 3 kids. I think it has great potential and serves a great purpose. Happy overall I went.

If you're looking for a fun place to take your family and discover interesting facts on local history and our shipping industry, this is the place to go. You can also get some amazing views of downtown Mobile.

Easy to get to. Great parking. Ramps and elevators to reach the levels. Had a great variety of interactive stations. Sadly, several were not working. The ones that were working were a lot of fun. They have a great children's area. The docents were friendly and very knowledgeable. They have a volunteer docent, named Fred, who was a true pleasure to talk with. We actually stayed here all day and enjoyed our time. Their Coast Guard art exhibit was well put together.

Wow, well worth the time. Very good displays, films, loved the nautical slogans along the ramps. Plus, a huge ship was parked at the cruise ship dock to see! Learned new things about ship building at mobile, and the German sub in the Gulf of Mexico! Lovely staff. We went Sept. 23 2023 and it was virtually empty.

Wonderful museum dedicated to life on the gulf. You walk through displays on a simulated cargo ship. You can even steer the ship on a virtual navigation display. View of the Mobile Bay, cruise ship dock, ship building area and ship traffic on the Mobile River. Also a great view of downtown Mobile.

My kids and I loved all of the hands-on things. I will suggest you go early so you can take your time. We've been twice the first time we spent 3 hours and only got to level 3! The second time took us nearly 5 hours and that was reading everything. It's one of my favorite places to go in Mobile!

This a fantastic museum and educational experience. So many hands-on exhibits it puts most children's museums to shame. But this isn't just for kids, adults will learn lots too from the multiple exhibits. It gives a great view of the past, present, and future of Mobile and the area's shipping industry. Great fun for all ages, leave plenty of time to explore this (ship-shaped) museum.

Very disappointing. Likely ok for the 4-8 crowd, although they won't read the placards. Little to no real objects. Signs a museum does not make. A few hands-on exhibits, most of which weren't working. The various travel sites said there was a restaurant. (One even referanced an imax theater... not). It is shut down (too bad the outside tables were about the only access to balcony at each level which had doors, but all were posted no access). Finally, staff was practically non-existent. A maintenance guy had to go find us someone to sell us tickets. There was no one at all for gift shop which did not even have postcards. My guess was all the funds were spent on the impressive building, and with covid, there was no endowment. It's really sad that it could have been spectacular Below pics were looking out at the water.

This is such a wonderful place to go. It has interactive activities for the kids. Beautiful views and the event I went to was very informative. I would love to see them bring something in on dinosaurs, sharks, or even the holocaust. There is a lot of space that could be utilized and make so much more fun. Just call ahead and make sure there are no field trips attending that day. That is the only thing that makes it hard for individuals to enjoy. It is a wonderful opportunity for the kiddos from school, and they need to see it, but individuals may have a harder time getting to see anything when the schools are there.

Wonderful and hands-on for the children and adults, too. This museum is so full of information from ships to storm paths. If you plan on visiting before June 2023, definitely check out the Spirit of the Passage exhibit. The lady at the front desk, Deanna (may not be the correct spelling), was very very helpful, informative, and sweet.

It’s a comprehensive 5 decks (floors) museum that covers a variety of topics related to maritime. It also covers the history of Mobile area as well as provides information regarding Gulf Coast in general. There are plenty of exhibits for people of different ages including interactive exhibits for children. The cost of admission is only $10. I also enjoyed panoramic views of the city and Mobile Bay.

Great experience. Grandkids (ages 2 - 13) loved it. Only negative was a few of the interactive exhibits were not working.

Well-maintained and educational place to spend a couple of hours. The Exploreum is ideal for school-aged kids, but there's something for all ages here. The center is convenient to shops and restaurants and is also next-door to the excellent History Museum of Mobile.

We enjoyed a fun, learning adventure with our 2 and 4 year old grands. They loved all the hands-on exhibits, and especially the Dinosaurs of the Antarctic on the giant screen -- many thanks to the Porch Creek Indians for the beautiful theater!! Several of the hands-on exhibits were not working, but we found plenty to keep the kids happily occupied while beating the heat outdoors.

Really fun Halloween party. Kids enjoyed it. But a lot of the exhibits were old and some did not work. Kind of small. I got in on their reciprocal membership program so definitely worth it for me.

Had an amazing time with my wife and kids! The front desk was very sweet and much helpful with so much information. Had a blast and we will definitely be coming back.

Was unsure what exhibits were currently here, but we decided to bring our toddler and so glad we did. My son could've stayed in the area with the ball pit all day. Great indoor activity for the whole family. The new fear exhibit was very interesting and don't worry, no jump scares.

When we walked in we were met by an employee who very obviously had an attitude and was not pleasant to deal with. Upon entering, we realized how incredibly small this museum is. On top of that, at least half of the exhibits were broken or didn’t work properly. Definitely not worth the price they charge for admission.

Went specifically for the Toytopia exhibit. The 'Big Piano' and all of the etch-a-sketch'es were broken... Very bummed about that. Other displays were in need of being wiped down and straightened up. Ancient Caves was a nice film. We will need to bring earplugs next time to help muffle the sound though, much too loud for sensitive ears. We had a nice visit overall.

If you got kids of any age (my 8 month old had a blast) then go here. Parking can be a little funny sometimes as we are talking about downtown, but man is it worth it!! The exhibits and interactives alone will give you something wholesome to do for many hours.

A friend knows I love fashion and sewing. She invited me to visit the Downton Abbey exhibit. Wow is all I can say. I am only allowed 50 but have so many more pictures that can be posted

What a delightful experience at the Explorium science center located in Mobile, Alabama. We arrived around 1pm and they closed at 4. We had plenty of time to enjoy the exhibit, including the optical illusion, the interactive flight simulator, which we paid extra for, and we also paid extra for one of the movies in the dome theater. there is street side, parking and a parking lot but not a very large one. They have a snack, bar available with pizza, hotdogs, popcorn, and nachos and an assortment of beverages. a great place to bring children of any age or just come with a friend. I highly recommend an exploration of this wonderful museum.

We had a blast at the Exploreum. It is a fantastic place to bring the family. There is a ton of activities for the kids, interactive exhibits, and entertainment for all ages. The staff was wonderful.

This is a great one screen theater! The first couple rows of seating are recliners. The are comfortable but kind of close together. The movie starts promptly at the times stated, 2, 6 & 8 pm. The staff is friendly. There are light concessions but the theater serves beer and wine! Not a place you would bring young children, all of the movies I've seen advertised are rated PG-13 or R. I would recommend this as a cool little spot to check out with friends or if you're on a date downtown.

Blast to the past, a theater that has all the upgrades but has remained true to its' roots. And... the wine selection is excellent. We were visiting from Phoenix and the owner greeted us with hospitality. What a great find!

Really great experience! Decided to see Everything Everywhere All At Once during the afternoon and stopped in for a 2PM showing. Met the owner, had a nice chat about the movie and where I'm from. One bag of popcorn, a beer and a great movie later I can definitely say I'll be coming back to visit again soon. This place is small with just 1 theater room, a few recliners up front and simple stadium seating behind. It's super cozy, friendly, and locally owned.

I absolutely love this place. My wife and I love to go here for a movie without all the big box crowds, it is an original theater, always friendly staff, prices are down to earth, comfortable seating, even recliners down front if you want. It is Downtown on Dauphin and you can spend time here before or after the show. If you haven't been you are missing a treat.

Nostalgia personified. Super friendly owner. Clean & comfortable theater. Good sound system. This is a quaint old time theater with modern comfort & technology. Definitely worth watching a movie here.

I absolutely LOVE this theater! The lobby is always covered in awesome posters, the guys who own it are completely sweet and amazing. The theater is always, always clean and the most comfortable seats you can imagine. Helpful hint: get there about a half hour before the show and you might be able to sit in the amazing front row recliners! The regular seats are comfortable as well, but those recliners are to die for. Excellent movies are shown always, this theater is a gem and worth coming back to again and again.

Unbeatable movie experience. If you’ve never been to this old place, you’re missing out. Honor system for drinks is as cool as it gets. There isn’t another theatre like this anywhere. Show up early if you want a recliner.

10$ per adult. Cool guides. Fascinating history of local captain Ruchards and his family. The place has a nice garden for weddings. Nice place to take teens, too.

Nice place and interesting things to see. The history of the building has nothing to do with the DAR but still a nice place to check out if you’re inclined. They offer tea and cookies at the end of your tour. My pics give an idea of the location relative to the downtown area.

2021 Christmas celebration "Reflections of the Nutcracker Ballet" decorations are beautiful.

I love historic homes. The docent was a DAR Member and knew her stuff. We were with two other people who touched furniture, paintings and walls, which made me cringe. They need more DO NOT TOUCH signs throughout the house.

Website needs to be updated. The tours are actually Friday to Monday. The lady we spoke to was nice and I don't want to hate on them, but you should be aware before coming any distance.

Great museum. Very interesting tour, interesting history to this beautiful house. Extremely friendly employees. Everything was excellent and I wouldn’t hesitate to go back. An unknown gem.

A lovely place to learn about life in the 1800's

We decided to take in a couple of the historical homes in Mobile a few weeks back. I did some research, finding that roughly 5-6 existed and open for tours. We drove over to Mobile, using google maps for location. There was lots of road construction, however, we navigated there successfully. There is only on street parking, so grabbed a spot and knocked on the door. We were greeted by two women, both volunteers. One belonged to a group of teens that volunteer their time to help further the education of historic homes. They asked for a small donation ($10 each) to help defray costs, which we happily paid. Our guide took us on a lovely journey through time, talking about the various owners, what was going on in those times, pointing out interesting factoids and information. I think we spent roughly an hour on the tour. We quite enjoyed ourselves. Of course, the tour ends in the gift shop, however, it was a collection of Southern items, locally made items, etc.. The woman that greeted us at the door, was there and offered us a cup of tea, which I thoroughly enjoyed. We visited with them for a bit, then departed through the garden area. What a nice way to spend a Sunday Afternoon!!

I am a member of the DAR in Illinois and secretary of my local chapter so I thought I would tour this historic home while I was passing through Mobile. It’s very lovely and has lots of original pieces and my tour guides were too young Southern Belles, Margaret and Zoe. They were very informative and so professional and polished! It was a real pleasure!

Such a beautiful historic home! The architecture is beautiful and there are so many original antiques. I wish I could remember our guide's name. She was a Belle and so knowledgeable. She was absolutely wonderful! After our tour, we were served tea and cookies and got to visit with 2 wonderful ladies who work there. Definitely worth visiting if you're in the area.

Best tour in Mobile! The tour guide was wonderful! She took her time and even allowed questions. She was very informative!

We had three ladies doing our tour and they did a great job setting the time frame. They understood all the furnishings in the house and the history. They even served tea and cookies when done with the tour!

Great beautiful interesting home inspired by Italian architecture. The home furnishings are from 1850-1870. DAR maintain this gorgeous property. The mobile bells help with the tours. This place is supposed to be haunted by the children that passed there. Apparently 6/12 passed.

Beautiful house on the outside but unfortunately it was closed when I was passing there. Dont know when but maybe I’ll return some day to try again.

We were there on a Monday, which we knew they are closed. We walked around this house as well as a lot of the Garden district. Some beautiful and amazing homes.

This is a lovely home. Very little is original but everything is the right time period and there are great stories (especially the mourning room). Our guide, Emerson, was so fun. We were very glad we went.

Coming here was a wonderful experience. I would like to clarify that this wasn't a plantation home like we were wanting to see. However, our tour guide was friendly, funny, and very informative. The house was beautiful, and it would make a great stop on any road trip.

The young woman who gave the tour was very engaging and knowledgeable. We enjoyed learning about this beautiful home and the people who lived there through the generations.

Beautiful southern mansion with plenty of history.

Very charming old house with lots of history! But it's not a plantation. No matter what Google tells you. We traveled all the way up from Ft Morgan to see a plantation and was pretty bummed to learn it's not associated at all with plantations. But it is a beautiful antebellum home and the tour guide was very knowledgeable.

It was quite enjoyable to hear the history of the house and the families who lived there. Stephanie really knew her stuff and clearly conducted a lot of research beyond the call of duty. Well worth the drive.

We're staying in Mobile for a few weeks and the museum cropped up as a site to visit. I must say the building suggested more than was delivered. Still it was was done with a few nice pieces. We were through in a couple hours. Although one could easily spend twice that depending on how much you appreciate art. Glad we went but not worth a second visit any time soon.

Went on Makers Day where museum entry was free as craftsman were in the lobby selling art crafts. The museum was entertaining to walk through and many exhibits. Treehouse room exhibit was by far the highlight. Otherwise it seemed pottery and glass figures may have outnumbered paintings. But now that I've visited once, probably wouldn't do it again as entry fees were a little high.

The exhibits here are so cool! There is always something interesting around each corner to see! I absolutely love coming here and looking at all of the exhibits and seeing what I can find. Honestly, I could take days here just looking around and not see all of the exhibits.

Absolutely fantastic experience. They have a wide variety of art, and better explanations of what you're seeing than a lot of other museums do. The kids walk itself is incredible (for children and children at heart). Outside of the museum is a sculpture trail, where you can take in both the beautiful Gulf landscape and the beautiful artwork. Inside of the museum, there are permanent and rotating exhibits, all of which are well thought-through.

For such a city with a population under 200,000 this is a significant museum. It includes many local artists and those from within the state. Quality varies widely between collections. Entry experience is odd as one must go in the gift shop to buy a ticket. Friendly staff and on a Thursday afternoon when locals were admitted free of charge the museum was nearly empty. Spent about 90 mins to go through entire museum (3 floors).

This museum has very nice artwork on display. They currently have a project called "do it", which I recommend you see. It has many different artworks that were produced from a basic set of instructions. The neat thing is to see how others interpret the instructions and everyone winds up with the same project but each looks different. Really neat. I would recommend this place to others if you're in the area.

I have lived in a lot of cities and have been lucky enough to travel to many parts of the world. Mobile's art museum remains one of my favorites...impressive and diverse collection, frequent special exhibits, and beautiful grounds right on the edge of Municipal Park. I love bringing out of town visitors here...who are always surprised at the quality of this fantastic art museum.

The exhibits are great with a wide variety of art to gaze at. Each room offers something unique and fun. Staff members allow photos of the exhibits as well. If you are in the area, especially on a hot summer day, you should stop in and soak up some A/C while looking at the art pieces.

Great place lots of Mobile History and lovely exhibits teaching one about Mobile, not from here and living here it's great to go and be able to learn about the history of Mobile. Great place! There is art for everyone here! The variety in time, place, culture, and style will be sure to satisfy any and all art fans! The staff is super friendly and ready to answer questions. Very easy to get to, easy to park and priced very reasonably.

Absolutely amazing, informative personal tour! When I bought tickets to this museum I was not expecting a tour guide, much less one that told us so much about the history of this beautiful house and city. I 100% recommend this tour if you visit this area! You will not be disappointed!

Easily accessible from the Main Road, street parking and public lots are nearby. The Museum was super clean and well staffed by friendly employees. Restrooms were available and were clean. If you like Museums and are a fan of History you will absolutely love this museum and you won't be disappointed. Besides all the Historical Artifacts, which are excellent, it like a walk through time not only of Mobile, but Alabama and the United States. Very educational and it pulls no punches with it exhibits. They did it the right way. Plan to spend some time there to take it all in. In the area don't pass it up. *The Fort is across the street and the Carnival Museum is a few blocks away and are also worth a Visit*

I decided to stop in downtown Mobile and take a look at some of the historic buildings and came upon the Conde Charlotte Museum. What a delightful visit! My tour guides were so knowledgeable and charming. A visit to this beautiful home is well worth time spent in Mobile.

Marie was a super good guide. She made us feel special . Very interesting historic home. We clicked on a group on while paying . It would have cost $20 for two adults but groupon was $11. Maybe you can find it for $10. Very worthwhile stop.

Furnishings were donated & house used to be a jail and boarding house. We Got the Mobile Area Multi-Attraction Pass Includes this and we learned alot.

This is a pretty botanical gardens park. They have lovely flowers. The park seems to make birds and butterflies happy. The plants, trees and flowers are so pretty. I enjoyed the woodsy walking trail also.

We stopped by to see the waterfall and the koi fish and well I don't know where to begin,, you enter a gate then you have to go to the souvenir / admission shop pay to enter the garden / woods. I was not impressed because there's really nothing to see but woods, trees, and forestry!!!! I understand it suppose to be a Garden, but it's really nothing to see, NO BEAUTIFUL FLOWERS,NO BEAUTIFUL SCENERY just overgrown bushes, trees, and trails!!! You can get off track easily cause there is NO signs to point you in the right direction ,,,,BUT the biggest disappointment was the Waterfall,it was so small but the koi fish in the small little pond was beautiful, well my final review is it should be FREE! Or maybe we went the wrong time of year April 2024

As members of the Corpus Christi Botanical Garden we have reciprocal privileges at many other botanical Gardens nationally. Some could argue a five-star rating would be generous but a garden that does many things should perhaps be very well regarded as a local treasure. We enjoyed our 1 hour morning visit on a very warm day to tour the numerous attractions of this well-maintained facility. Individually taken Mini of Gardens settings may not be up to a five-star rating. Taken on the hole ambitious effort on so many topics it was very enjoyable. I may have given them an extra star for the Shaded parking.

Beautiful gardens and very helpful staff. The only thing that could be better is the signage.

My friend typically does trips with her son(who is a toddler) & leaves beautiful reviews as well as recommendations to others about her trip. Today, she drove an hour up from Pensacola to visit the botanical gardens. My friend, who’s also VERY pregnant, and her son were turned away. The man did not like her outfit & instructed that it was a “family place” … as you’re turning away a pregnant mother and her son? Safe to say we will not be supporting a place like this, which sucks as it’s probably the closest botanical garden to Pensacola.

stunning! we came from Pensacola and it was definitely worth the drive. we could have spent all day there if it wasn't for the heat! great for kids, so open and most of the walkways are paved so wonderful access for everyone. plus they do kids events, so definitely will be back for those!!

One of the things I really liked is that there were signs underneath everyone of the plants letting you know what they were. I went for the first time and was a couple weeks late as the big blooms have already passed. There was still color just not much about. It was still a cool time exploring somewhere that I have not been yet. It's a fair price of $5 which I don't mind paying. I bet if I had went two weeks ago the place would be bathed in color. Still a pleasant experience, wtoill be back, saw some pretty blooms and a black racer.

The botanical gardens have changed dramatically since my last visit 30 years ago. Today, the gardens are breathtaking...filled with beautiful plantings and landscaping. I really enjoyed exploring every nook of the grounds, including the tea maze, herb garden, and chicken coop. I look forward to visiting again!

There is some pretty scenery here, but we got the impression the gardens aren't well-maintained. There aren't many flowers, and the "quarry" is a tub of water with one water lily, as far as we could tell. The conservatory is really depressing, a tiny building with not one blossom. We are members of an AHS reciprocal garden, so we didn't buy tickets in advance. The website said to call when we arrived, but not sure why that was necessary. A man let us in the gate, and we went into the building to present our card for admission. The lady behind the counter likes to talk a great deal, and share a ton of information about the place before you can get into the gardens to actually see them.

Great tour with lots of great background history of Mobile. Our tour guide Irene was fantastic and a wealth of knowledge not just of the mansion, but also of Mobile in general. We’ll worth the entry fee, highly recommend!

The home is very elegant and the young lady who gives the tours is very pleasant. However they do not allow photos (After of course I had taken a few) I was informed. I believe the admission price was $10 a person. They do have wheel Chair accessibility And an elevator so you needn't have to climb the stairs if unable. However if you are unable to climb the stairs you won't be able to see the pictures they have in the vestibule that shows the home prior to having an add on To the porch. Extremely beautiful and most everything in the house is original Except for one bedroom and They will tell you about that. There is a lot more than this to see, if you like what I've shown you it's a must see !!

It’s a lovely home with a nice restoration. However, the tour did not include much information about the home and its owners. The guide’s script and props in the home were more about “this is what you might have seen during this period” which included donated clothing, silverware, furniture, etc. Not much information on the families that built and owned the home. No photography allowed, no reason why except for the fact that they want you to buy stuff from the gift shop. Overall disappointed.

It was so fun! The lady that led the tour was nice and kept bragging about how good my little sisters where. The only part I didn't like was that we couldn't take pictures inside but other than that it was great.

This Plantation Home is an incredible display of Rich history and culture. Of course slaves operated this Plantation and that is a sad shameful part of American history. Nonetheless the home is incredible inside and out. It has been modernized a bit with air conditioning smoke sensors, cameras and various other detection devices and these are the reasons I don't give it five stars. I do realize how hard it is to maintain a property of that age without some modern technology intervention. The home is well kept and the grounds are well-kept and there are awesome photo opportunities.

Beautiful place. Here for a wedding. The food for event was cooked here, for the occasion and was delicious. Thebstaff were frendly and helpful and very attentive.

Was under renovation so the outside was being worked on.took the inside tour and our gal was such a sweetheart, retired southerner with alot of knowledge of the area. I was thrilled with this tour, to see furnishings from the 1800s, old photos, hear the history of this mansion...incredible. 300 year old oak trees that are gorgeous. Take the time, it's only $10 for a step back in time and a good history lesson.
