This place is awesome! The butterfly garden is the best part. They have a discovery room for young children as well that has all sorts of neat things. The best part is the main museum is free. If you want to see the butterfly garden or the current extra exhibit there is a charge but it's totally worth it. 😀 Check their website, they have discounts on tickets for certain things.

Butterfly Rainforest had a nice large enclosed patio area full of beautiful butterflies and Luscious Landscaping. It was also a little bigger then I thought it would be. I didn't realize it had a full Museum inside until we arrived and I saw the sign for the museum. The museum was great it had a lot of different displays and was very informative. This is a great place for young & older children alike. Heck, I'm middle-aged and love it!!..

The environment was clean and well cared for with a great variety of plants and butterflies! Visitors are not allowed to touch or feed the little birds and butterflies that roam the environment. Photographs are welcome as well as sitting on the benches throughout to enjoy your day.

Amazing place! We took my 14 month old there and he loved it! It’s very children friendly; there’s a discovery area where you can sit and watch your children play and explore around, plus breastfeeding room and family restroom. The butterfly rainforest was amazing! You can see the butterflies up close. It was beautiful and relaxing. Definitely recommend for a family trip. We paid $22 for 2 adults. Parking was $4

If heaven was a place, this would be it. They have an incredible variety of butterfly species in here. It's absolutely fantastic to be able to see them all fluttering around. They provide them a large variety of pollinator plants so no matter the species, they are happy. They clearly care about the health and safety of all their butterflies and it's just magical to be able to witness it. I had to walk through twice just to be able to experience it again. 10/10 would recommend 💛

Beautiful butterflies, birds, and flora. They were not difficult to see, as they were very numerous, fluttering everywhere and not shy at all. We even watched a couple emerging from their cocoons. It was well worth the visit. It was a bit hot the day we went, but it's just that time of year.

Amazing exhibit! I could have stayed there all day. You go at your own pace along a path and you're surrounded by beautiful butterflies, flowers, and plants. There's even a small waterfall and a bench to rest or take photos. The butterflies sometimes land on you (one landed on my kid's face!). And when we went, there were also a few birds. The place is one big photo op for some awesome and memorable photos. A++

We had an amazing experience here at the butterfly garden! Seriously can't say enough good. We got a couple dollar discount on admission because of being FL residents.The indoor portion was very informative and educational. Also very well laid out and organized. The outdoor area, actual rainforest garden, was beautiful! Water fountains, birds, butterflies and beautiful plants. We enjoyed walking and taking it all in. Can easily spend a couple hours here. We enjoyed being able to observe all the nature up close in a safe weather proof environment. The Florida museum is right next door. We did not visit that today, but it was quite large and looked to be a full day. Parking was $4 and in a lot right next to museum. Restrooms available and a nice fair prices gift shop and penny machine at entrance.

This is probably my FAVORITE place in all of Gainesville. The Butterfly Rainforest does not disappoint. They are so active and you get to sometimes see them follow you through the garden. Love the flowers throughout the paths. Lots of parking available on campus.

Do not miss the butterfly garden if you are in Gainesville! It is inside the Florida natural history museum and is beautifully maintained by the staff. The garden is an enclosed space with hundreds of different butterfly species and is hardly a 5minutes walk inside. But you will surely take your time to observe these butterflies with their beautiful patterns and texture!

First time for me. It was very hot 🔥. Approx. 100 heat index. It was absolutely beautiful. Full of information. Did I say beautiful 😍. All the plants and butterflies. The girls had a good time. The blue ones are huge. There is a po d with fish and a turtle. We saw quail skittering under the bush. We went on a Saturday. Lots and lots of people. The Spider exhibit can be purchased in combo. We just did butterflies. Then after you can tour the free exhibits. There is a children's area with lots of seating for us older kids. 😀 worth every cent.

Very enjoyable, a helpful, friendly staff, and wow the butterflies!! I visit each year, and the display changes each time, and many species are always present, and each time I visit there are new ones to see for the first time. I recommend going on weekdays when plentiful parking is available, and the crowds are less likely, and pick a sunny day when the butterflies are active for the best display :-)

We had a great time exploring the museum and the butterfly gardens. I did think the price was a little high for what was offered, but hey, the museum is free. The quil that run around are super cute!

Lots of butterflies! It was a bit crowded, but still manageable to get around inside with others. There are many different types of pretty butterflies and little birds that roam free or fly. This was a fun experience and they will land on you if you stand still or wear bright colors.

Very neat experience the butterflies, quail and finches were all very fun to see. Large showing Koi in the creek and beautiful fauna! The museum was equally impressive!

The Butterfly Rainforest at the Florida Museum is remarkable. They have an unbelievable collection of butterflies and small birds in a beautiful ecosystem. It’s possible to get within inches of these guys for photos. The environment is also lovely, so peaceful that we could spend hours.

Absolutely a wonderful place for someone who loves butterflies. Although it was not a sunny day, we managed to see many beauties. We bought the package that also included the dinosaur museum and it is a wonderful experience.

By far the coolest attraction I visited while in Central Florida. So many butterflies, birds and even fish. Helpful and knowledgeable Staff. It was pretty busy but not overcrowded. Really enjoyed our stroll.

Lovely educational experience with kind staff. What a dream. We liked going to callaway gardens in South Georgia for their butterfly experience, this is awesome as well! Quail, koi & finches roamed & butterflies 🦋 soared & perched to rest. Waterfall & a hatchery. Neat museum and great visit and affordable

Amazing place. I was floored. So many butterflies, about 150 species. The exiting docent was awesome and informative. The ticketing people were cool for advising me of a good time to visit. I bought some fun socks on the way out at the gift shop.

Had a wonderful experience today at the Butterfly exhibit. So many colors, sizes and shapes. Love the birds in the exhibit as well. Price was very reasonable. Could have spent 2 more hours there, we loved it so much.

Not too expensive, great for kids with a variety of exhibits and rotating displays. The staff were friendly and helpful during our lost-child incident. They had a very interesting display of fossils, presented in a timeline of ancient Florida. They also had a great area for young children, including those with sensitivities. Highly recommended.

Me and my mom went on a Saturday, and we waited about 20 seconds to buy our tickets. The most impressive thing about the museum was the organization of everything and how updated each exhibit was! We spent about 3 hours in the museum, the butterfly exhibit is definitely worth the extra money, super beautiful and relaxing. Also we loved how on each exhibit everything was clearly labeled, letting us know what we were looking at, which we LOVED. Also at the fossil area, the table with two magnifying glasses was super cool and went maybe 20 minutes there just looking at shells and snake skin. This museum is fun for adults as well as kids and we will definitely go back

What a wonderful museum and tip of the hat to FL! Butterfly garden is a must IMO if you like butterflies. The museum has the largest specimen collection of butterfliesand moths in the world at over 9 million specimens! The temporary Fossil exhibit they have on display for a limited time is amazing. The kids were able to get hands on, not only in the discovery center, but also helping to glue together and label fossils before they are cataloged in the national database. We will be back. The.food at the Cafe next door was great and reasonably priced!

I absolutely LOVE this museum! It definitely is a must-do in Gainesville. I have visited over 10+ times and I have a wonderful experience each time. The exhibits are interesting, captivating, and very informative. I love the limited time exhibits they offer. They will often include hands-on and interactive displays, which is fun for kids and adults! The discovery zone is also super hands-on and interesting. The butterfly garden is absolutely beautiful and an experience I recommend for everyone.The museum also has a great gift shop! Don't miss out on this outstanding museum!

Wow this place is so cool! It's a wonderful museum dedicated to Florida's natural history and has so many interesting exhibits. My absolute favorite is the fossil exhibit. The Mastodon display is quite impressive and mostly intact. The butterfly garden is pretty spectacular too. And if you like spiders and creepy crawly things check out the Spiders Live exhibit. We had such a wonderful time here.

Great museum to spend half a day in. Plenty to see and learn about Florida’s natural history. Area for kids to interact and learn. Butterfly garden is a must add on. The temporary exhibits vary throughout the year and are usually worth the add on as well.

This museum is great! I'm a Florida native and very passionate about the states wildlife, and their collections are very diverse and informative. So many cool fossils, specimens, and exhibits on the flora and fauna of the state. Their traveling exhibits are always super interesting as well, most recently I saw the dinosaur egg exhibit, which had ton of interesting info and reproductions for both kids and adults. I definitely recommend this place, especially for return visits, because there's just so much to see!

Really impressive museum for its size. It looks small from the exterior but its a labyrinth of exhibits and a wealth of Florida science and history information. The discovery kids zone is fantastic, but note that section and the special exhibits close 30 minutes before actual museum closing time. Its free admission to permanent exhibits and an absolute must with kiddos if you're visiting the area.

Nice museum. Easy parking. Lots to see and different exhibits. Paid extra to see the butterfly garden and spider display. Was worth it. Lots of Florida history. Arrow heads. Native American history. Fossils. It wasn’t too busy. Lots of space staff was very friendly and informative. Nice place to spend the day. Good for family’s kids and dates.

So wonderful! It's free to get in but you have to pay to see the extra exhibits. It's totally understandable when you think about how expensive it would be to keep all of the butterflies, plus the plants , and other animals alive. I highly recommend it! I've never seen so many shell fossils! The native American history was also educational and would be great for kids (especially homeschooling ones).

I love this museum. I’ve learned a lot! The entrance is free, but if you wanna visit the butterfly kingdom and a spider world you need to pay for their tickets. For the first timers, I recommend touring around the museum first.

I enjoyed looking at the different types of fossils and reading about them! It is not a huge exhibition for the dinosaurs, but it is still unique to see. There are plenty of interactive things to do with kids, and many different types of cool figures and creatures.

Went for their Antartic Dino exhibit that was super cool! The Butterfly Rainforest has so many pretty plants and butterflies/moths to see.

I enjoy visiting museums a big deal- this is one of my favorite museums in Florida. I especially enjoyed the butterfly rainforest & the spiders section. However, there is a lot to learn from this museum and it’s a good family spot and are to visit on a weekend or any day really.

A really nice museum thoroughly depicting the history of Florida’s prehistoric past. There are a huge collection of fossils and entire skeletons of prehistoric animals from the region. There are also a great many displays on the early indigenous people of the area. A really interesting place to visit.

We loved everything about this museum! We had gone once before and decided to take our entire family this go around. The butterfly gardens are a must. We enjoyed being able to go in as many times as we wanted. Perfect location for both kids and adults to have a memorable trip. Entry is free, just have to pay for the add-ons like the butterfly gardens.

It was a bit windy and brisk so we didn’t do the butterfly rainforest as the lady at the ticket desk told us it wouldn’t be worth the ticket price as the butterflies aren’t out and active when it’s cooler outside so we just browsed the gift shop and free portions of the museum as a pit stop on our way back from Orlando. It was a nice place to explore and a good way to break up the drive.

Great place to see butterflies it was kind of cool so they were a stationary and were able to get these great pictures on a cool day great place to visit and spend a little time sitting on the bench and watching and listening to the nature

every time my granddaughter comes to visit me we go to see the butterfly exhibition. Beautiful is like being in another world. Due to her condition of Autism, her connection with nature is incredible. She also has ADHD. also requiring Support in Social Communication. Before entering she understands the rules of the site very well even better than me. because she is high functioning autistic. And believe me, maybe one day she will work for you guys. But the fact that she spreads her arms is not an indication that she wants to touch the butterflies. It is for them to reach her. I'm telling you this not because of a bad review because there was one of you staff employees who came out and told her you can't touch them. You can imagine what happened to her. she began to cry because what she wanted was for a blue butterfly to reach on her hands. Nothing more than that. She wasn't touching her I was with her reminding her of the rules she just wanted to feel the blue butterfly in her hands. She wasn’t stalking them . which she knows very well its name and its characteristics not only of that butterfly of almost all of them. I can assure you that in the future my granddaughter will be of great help to you. Having said all this, I only have one suggestion. Today various colors are used to identify special conditions. I think it's the purple color. With a bracelet you as employees will know that it is a person with special conditions. but that behind them there is an adult who knows the rules and is going to help you to make that special person follow the rules in such a beautiful place prepared to preserve something as beautiful as butterflies. My granddaughter Briana is very grateful that you take care of her butterflies, she understands that butterflies are God's creation and you have to take good care of them. When she spreads out her arms, she knows that at some point one of the butterflies is going to reach her, and that's how it has been on our recent visits to such a beautiful place.

Decided to come here while visiting our son at UF. We got to see this scene call and we walked all around the property. It was pretty cool for a short visit. There is a bathroom facility as well. One of the little bridges were closed for to maintenance so you weren't able to walk in a complete circle but it was still a nice short stroll

Nice place for a quick hike. The bridge was not accessible though. So we have to go back, cannot, and walk around the sink hole. But the best thing about it is that it has a sign before you make a decision which way to go first. We decided to walk the long path, which is the right side, then we turn around and continue to the left and head down to the sink hole first and it has 127 steps (not counting the flat just the steps.) It was nice. There are several small waterfalls that feed down to the sink hole. It was interesting hearing different sounds of the water running down the sink hole.

Place is nice, clean and easy to walk it. I went there with my little kids and they enjoyed going down the stairs and coming back up. Seen some people walking thier dogs around but has to be leashed. The time I was there Mar2022 ! The trail loop was closed for some repairs, you can walk it anyway but it isn’t loop as it used to be.

Just a short drive from Jacksonville and or Gainesville is a really cool park here. Take a stroll up and down the wooden steps to the water fall and pooling water way at the bottom. Enjoy being out in the woods with nature and seeing the beautiful greenery and trees. Listen to the birds and feel the sunshine on your skin. Ample parking under the canopy, educational signs for all to read about the animals that live therein. Take photos of the rippling water from down the hill and be prepared for many steps down and up into the cavern. Wear comfortable shoes and clothing.This was a sweet little aventure for my grandson and husband and I. I think it is worth it. Make a day out of it and bring a packed lunch for a picnic at your vehicle or under the trees at the entrance.

First time going. Lots to view! Elevations are good to see in Florida. The trails are well kept and an easy walk. The stairs are in great condition with handrails and plenty of landings to stop and view..and breathe! It's a long way down and a long way up. If you have knee or hip issues, this will be a challenge. I do but with the landings, it is helpful. The views are really nice. Lots of "waterfalls" and the waterflow is nice to hear. Didn't see much wildlife this time. I'm sure cooler temps will bring more out. Restrooms are at the entrance to the trails and are well kept. Rangers were present. Ample parking. Picnic area. Good spot to visit.

Great little park to spend an hour or so. There is a small loop trail and steps down to the sink hole. As you go down (or up) the steps, you can read more about the history of the land. It was really quiet and peaceful on the day I visited (weekday in mid-December). There is a single stall restroom by the visitor center area.

This was very cool. I would like to see when more lush. The trails were blocked off so sadly took us longer to drive there than enjoy it. But it was very cool to see. We had visitors from out of state who wanted to see it

My recommendation to take the right trail first (bridge at the end is closed but you can turn and go back its a cool walk) then go to the devil’s eye path through the stairs, be careful going down the stairs is easy but going back up is not as easy. Stay a bit down near the eye enjoy the space and sound of small waterfalls. Parking fees 4$ to be paid through an envelope at the parking entrance and put the sign back on your car rear mirror.

It was very hot, but the scenery was absolutely beautiful. We were a little disappointed because the hole looks like it has closed up, so it's now as deep as it used to be when I was a young teen. The stairs were exhausting, but good for exercise if you want it. The kids had a good time so that's all that matter to me!

We really enjoyed the short little hike. We went in the spring and everything was beautiful lush and green. We were pretty amazed at the rock formations and waterfalls. The basin was not full of water as we had anticipated it would be. This would make a great stop if you're short on time and still want to get a beautiful little hike in.

Great little stop with a short trail to the sink. Quite a few steps on the boardwalk to get down to the sink so be prepared for that. But nothing too strenuous. We've been twice and today there was a lot more water in the sink than our previous visit, likely due to the amount of rain the area has seen recently. Very beautiful and the placards are very informational so make sure to read them to learn about the history and how sinkholes form.

Nice natural piece of history. Wish we could have gone into the sink hole but the 132 step decline allowed us to see all of the fora and fauna. Beautiful place and nice easy little hike around it.

A cool (pun intended) park to engage Florida geology, see the entirety of a sink hole by walking down well-constructrd stairs, and enjoy a shaded circular walk around the park. Informative kiosk and signage. Bring $4 cash for parking

This is a nice park with a cool sinkhole and a large zig-zag set of stairs to get closer to the bottom. There is a short, flat circular trail on top around the edge. Worth a visit if you are looking for a place to break up a drive along I-75.

20231205 Very small park. The walk down to the sinkhole and the nature trail around the park is about 0.92 miles from the parking lot. The steps down to the sinkhole and up is good workout. Not too difficult. The sinkhole was dried up and there were 4 little tiny waterfalls when I visited. I bet it is much prettier when the sinkhole is filled.

Really nice sinkhole. Found a snake too! It was pretty short so if you’re looking for a lengthy experience, I would invite you to add another of the nearby state parks to your trip!

an absolute treat, a great place for a walk, enjoy nature, and get away. The stairs are not as bad as everyone said so I encourage you to take the walk all the way down; it's an amazing little trek. I also suggest mosquito spray or some type of bug/insect protection(I wore one of those wrist bands)

Beautiful walkway leading down to the sinkhole and a nice path around it. Unfortunately, we were there in April and the sinkhole was dry. It took us approx. 1 1/2 hours to experience the whole area. We stopped at Las Margaritas on the way and the food was wonderful.

This is a truly unique park. Taking the steps down into the sinkhole and back up is a solid little workout and there is also a beautiful nature trail. Nice little visitor center display!

Visited in mid-January and had some drizzle but still pleasant. Really enjoyed seeing it from the top without any interfering foliage. Didn't walk but halfway down as the new steps were a little slippery. Some views were remarkable with the moss covered rocks and running water through the stream. Well worth stopping to visit.

Only come if u love nature, history and the story of Florida. Its an awesome place. Yes its hot, sticky and the bugs & mosquitoes can be a nuisance but well worth the trouble. Bison roaming among wild horses whose lineage dates back to the Spanish. Bring binoculars & use all the trails and u will experience the wonders of this special place. We visit multiple times yrly and still have new experiences. Although I'm limited in my ability to walk & stand for for longer than 20 min +- at a time its no less a spectacular place. Slow down and enjoy it. The staff in the center is very nice and enthusiastic. Miles of trails, lots of wild life and tons of peace and quiet. The campground is basic but has power & h2o & clean bath houses. I expect fall & winter to be the easiest time to visit if comfort is a priority but spring & summer is alive! Don't FORGET UR BUG SPRAY!

Had a great bike ride on the Cone’s Dike trail. Rode all the way to the end and back . The first part of the trail is not too exciting and bumpy but it’s gets better and it’s shaded for more than half the ride . So many animals if your quiet . Snakes, birds, turtles, alligators, ducks, horses , ect. It’s hard to find this trail and there are signs that say no bikes where you need to access the trail from the parking lot. Very confusing .

We enjoyed our Sabbath here! We saw Wild Horses, a baby gator who caught a snake, deer, lots of birds, armadillo, but no bison. They have lots of trails here. Visiting Center with a small museum. That was nice. Picnic area by the water. The bathrooms were okay. On hot days remember to bring lots of water and wear a hat. They have a tower which was awesome. Remember to bring binoculars so you can see out in the prairie. Highly recommend checking them out. Staff were friendly as well.

We stopped at the Visitor Center so we could go up the tower. It was a beautiful time to go because it was a wave of yellow flowers across the Prairie. We also saw a few Bison. It's always a good idea to bring binoculars to be able to see the wildlife better.

Beautiful State Park! Campground is wooded and quiet. Tent loop is just off the main road on short loops... will need to port. Plenty of trails and wildlife abound

One of our favorites to do and depending on weather which trail to walk. Always see alligators on one, maybe wild horses or bison on the other. Observing the prairie is a true treat and all the trails are well maintained. Only suggestion is to venture most of it in the winter or wait until sunset in the summer as it’s wide open and the florida dun can be brutal. They also have a small museum that tells you about the site and history of the area.

What a diverse, well maintained and beautiful place to visit! With several different distinct land and aquatic habitats in the preserve the abundance of wildlife is amazing. It's a perfect place for birding, hiking, camping, fishing and paddling. The nature center and lookout tower are perfect for quick day trips. Camping is also available.

Beautiful, well taken care of park. The only reason I can’t give 5 stars is because they allow in babies. There was a young child (2 years or younger) in the campsite next to me that screamed for 40 minutes straight at 9PM last night and then for 15 minutes at 1AM, waking us up. We also encountered these people on a trail and when we saw wild horses the parents allowed the child to scream when so close to the horses. The wildlife shouldn’t be screamed at. In my opinion, when someone goes somewhere with the intention of peace and quiet, it is insanely disrespectful and unfair to make people and the wildlife listen to your screaming baby. That poor baby did not want to be here and was miserable. So selfish of the parents to bring him/her along. I hope state parks change their policies to not allow babies. There is literally no reason a 1 or 2 year old child should be here. They will not enjoy or remember it and will disturb the peace.

Wonderful and beautiful small hike! We didn't walk the whole trail because it's closed. That being said the few other people there did walk the whole trail, briefly telling us what they saw. Definitely check this out if you have the time. Just stay safe and take in the scenery!

First time seeing the bison! The herd was more than 30 of them. We had to walk quite a ways out on Cones Dike Trail which was mucky due to recent rains but well worth the journey because they ended up being about 150 yards off trail. Also saw wild horses galloping away from us with a newborn foal, mammoth gators, a bunny rabbit, tons of birds... There is abundant wildlife. We're also pleased to see Chacala Trails finally reopened after some restoration closures.

Many trails to explore! They even had a paved trail that is handicap friendly. I do recommend bringing your own water. There is not any available. You can see a variety of animals. Today, I only saw the bison. I will be coming back to explore more trails.

Awesome time camping! Plenty of nature, hiking trails, wildlife and views! We didn't get to see the bison but we did see wild Spanish horses the first day! Great time for all and will definitely visit again!

Hundreds of Alligators! Thousands of birds. Very cool place with an easy access boardwalk/trail/ observation deck. Pretty busy. I feel like some people got too close to the gators but no one was eaten while I was there. Nice nature preserve. Wish there were more access and trails. Cool history too.

Wonderful place to roam around and be surrounded by nature and animals. While we didn't see Bison, others did. I have mobility challenges, so I couldn't make it to the observation tower at the end of one of the trails (where most people see Bison). We did see wild horses, gators, and a myriad of birds. The trees were old, majestic giants with moss hanging from many. The trails are fairly even and well maintained. Again, enough that even with my mobility issues, I was able to manage. A wheelchair wouldn't make it, though, however. I highly recommend it. The ranger station has interactive displays, and the bathrooms were well maintained. We took our 8 year old, and she loved it.

There are bison here, in Florida! Their populations actually used to extend to the Florida Panhandle before their mass depletion, but conservation efforts reintroduced them to this area! I didn’t get to see any, however, because they were hanging out in a different part of the park. There are also wild horses, waterfowl, and lots of gators. There are several viewing points, including an observation tower, a boardwalk, and a pier overlooking a large lake. Visitors are even free to venture out into the fields, but if you choose to do so please proceed with utmost caution.

This place was very beautiful with Lush landscaping forest and walking trails and lots and lots of nature. There's Wild horses, bison, alligators, birds, snakes, and many other Wildlife roaming free on this property. Great place to go hiking!.

This is an incredible state park with several great nature trails. The main park has a wonderful observation tower and visitors center with clean bathrooms and a small assortment of gift shop items. Not far from the visitor center is a three-story observation tower where you can look out over the planes and see bison or wild horses. Throughout the park are several different trails, some of which you will have to drive to. We were fortunate enough to encounter a young cold who gave us no mind as we walked by. The entire park is beautiful and almost otherworldly considering that it's in Florida, but looks like something out of the planes that you would expect in Kansas or Nebraska. For anyone looking for a day trip or anyone who likes to have a hike, I highly recommend this place

Nice park. After doing a few miles, I decided to drive to Bolen's Bluff trail. Ha! Most of the hike is on a straight, raised dirt road through the marsh. The sun will do a number on you if you forget your sunscreen. An easy walk and not as boring as I thought it would be. Wild horses were grassing next to and on the trail, bisons chilled in the distance, butterflies and wildflowers were all around.

The gardens are expansive and have something to offer for everyone! Many different types of gardens and wildlife in these lovely gardens. The native exhibit was my favorite by far, and most of the trails are covered by shaded canopy (we never got too hot.) A must see in Gainesville!

This was a great spot to spend an afternoon or all day. I recommend going during peak blooms. There is more to see during peak bloom but still beautiful. Pack a lunch and have a quiet picnic. There are so many beautiful spots to choose from. Watch out for those snakes, though. They are sneaky.

We visited 12.27.21. What a peaceful, lush environment. The songs the bamboo sing in the wind are just mesmerizing. It's a pretty good hike and I could only make it halfway. Benches and seating available throughout. We recently moved here and are planning on becoming members. If you want to be taken to a different world where you can escape the cares of the city, surrounded by the city, you MUST come here. Dogs on leash allowed as well as your own picnic lunch. Lots of succulents, tropical plants and enormous cacti. Charge your phone! You'll take lots of pictures! Wheelchairs are a bit of a challenge. Limited snacks and drinks.

This is a great botanical garden to go with the family or your partner. The entrance is $10 per person, we paid with a credit card, parking is free. We brought our own refreshments and snacks from home and it was great. We walked and took great pictures. The sceneries on this gardens are amazing, for weddings,graduations, birthdays I mean, I'll post some pictures and you can judge yourself. It's pet friendly and handicap accessible, there is a small play ground for kids but during the time I went out was so hot I wouldn't recommend the any kids to be in there. There are fish you can feed, the feeders are at the entrance of the botanical garden, you need some quarters for it and then walk the garden until you find the pond. With the heat from Florida during the summer my suggestion go in the afternoon. It took us about 2 hours to walk and take pictures and that's because my teenage girl was hungry and she wanted to leave.

Great 2nd time at the Gardens with my college daughter who's home foe the summer. Grounds were gorgeous as before. We got to see 2 different non poisonous snakes & a huge banana spider(haven't seen 1 in 10 yrs). Very lovely & peaceful gardens despite the heat.

This is a nice botanical gardens property not far from the heart of Gainesville! It’s great both as a wedding / event venue and to just go walk. The wedding I worked personally had the ceremony under the bamboo garden and the reception in the main building; it was a beautiful service. I went again for the plant sale festival and orchid display for free entry and had a great time! Parking during the event was difficult because of the huge turnout, but the plant sale was really neat with lots of smaller businesses and vendors. There is about 2 total miles of sidewalk walking area with all sorts of gardens, such as herbs, flowers, and butterflies. It could be a little better maintained and marked, but other than that, it was pretty.

Just lovely. Staff was friendly. Love that they are dog friendly because I didn't have to explain about my service dog. Gardens are beautiful. Saw some wildlife and enjoyed a beautiful walk. Price is great. If I had to say one improvement it would be on the bathrooms.

We love going to Kanapaha Botanical Gardens on the weekends and just walking around the grounds. It's very peaceful here. I love seeing the giant Victorian water lilies when they are in season. That area of the gardens looks like something right out of a Monet painting. Their Spring Garden Festival and their Fall Plant Sale are hugely popular events that should not be missed. No matter what time of year, spending an afternoon strolling around the gardens is pure bliss.

Beautiful little place, it's a 10 dollar donation to enter, they have a cute maze for kids, a lot of different plants, walking paths, places to sit outside and rest or eat. In my opinion, it's smaller than it looks on the map, but worth seeing. I really like how every plant is labeled. My favorite was the herb garden. I hope you guys enjoy the pictures I took there.

Beautiful place to visit. If you have the opportunity to stop by don't miss the opportunity. It is a big 68 acres to walk take your time and enjoy the flowers plant and trees in there. Big opens spaces and you can bring your dog.

Beautiful botanical gardens in Gainesville. You can bring your dogs it's got lovely trails to walk around and spend a couple hours. The pond with Lily pads is an amazing view, especially with the koi fish.

My recent trip to Kanapaha Botanical Gardens in Gainesville, FL, was an absolute treat. The experience was really nice in my opinion. I enjoyed looking at the many different plants and walking along the trail with my partner. The gardens has a nice broad sunny area perfect for a picnic on a nice day. I recommend bringing insect repellent since there were quite a bit of bugs and mosquitos. Anyway, coming here with a partner or anyone special to you probably makes the experience a whole lot better. I enjoyed seeing the small area of bamboos and the medicinal garden the most.

One of the best botanical gardens I’ve been too. The giant lily pads and koi were amazing and so many beautiful plants everywhere you looked. Very well maintained. Dog friendly. Priced fairly. Many places to sit and view. Some cool sculptures and other things to look at, pavilions. Would definitely recommend if in the area.

It’s my second time with my family visiting this beautiful place and we are never disappointed. Nature and peace is all you can breathe and that to me gives me so much joy. The kids love it, we all love it.

I love that this is not only a Botanical Garden but local events are hosted here! Such a beautiful place. I came in town for the Spring Garden festival. The festival had some pretty awesome vendors and great food. Definitely check out their website for upcoming events or just to visit the gardens.

This place is well worth a visit if you are in the area. If you are a garden and plant enthusiast then this place is a must see! There’s a cement path throughout most of the gardens making it very accessible for someone in a wheelchair chair. The cement path leads you through multiple separate gardens that make up the entirety of the property. We spent about an hour and a half here but you could easily walk through the entire property in about 30 to 45 minutes if you didn’t stop to take in the sights. Dogs on leashes are welcome, as long as you keep them on the path. The admittance fee is 10 dollars but you can leave and come back as long as you hold onto to your receipt.

We went to visit and took our children and grandchildren to see the beauty that surrounds us every day, if we only open our eyes. Had a wonderful time and chatted with several of the staff. The volunteers are very friendly and answered all of our questions. I took along a camera and tripod and got some great shots.

Beautiful and peaceful place! If you're looking to explore the entire place I recommend you get there 2+ hours before closing time as there's a lot of ground to cover. Buy some fish food (bring some coins with you) to get the Koi fishes closer to you. Lily pads are stunning! Big fan of the giant outdoor chess board. So much fun to play in this gorgeous environment! Recommend.

The huge lily pads are awesome. Beautiful place to relax and take in all of nature also a perfect place to take pictures. We went in late September. You could easily do it in 30 mins if you didn't stop and take it all in. We spent about an hour here.

Love this place! Such a beautiful place to stroll and enjoy. I use it frequently to photograph my clients and really enjoy the business pass they offer photographers. The gardens are beautifully maintained and staff is all so friendly.

it was peaceful and beautiful..about a 40 minute drive from Ocala, and it's not far from 75 so we didn't have to drive through any crazy traffic. admission was $10 per person. can't wait to go back in the spring and see what it looks like when everything is blooming. this time of year we didn't see many butterflies and we didn't see any hummingbird but it was a nice outdoor adventure.

It was a cute experience! My friend graduated from UF Law (about out to her!) and wanted to watch the bats one last time before she moved. So we went about 45 minutes before sunset. I recommend two things: 1. If you want a seat either bring chairs, a blanket, or get their early (about an hour) for a seat on the bench. 2. If you just want to see the bats and have no interest in the surrounding area & don’t care about a seat - arrive either at sunset or about 5 minutes post sunset. They take a bit post sunset to come out. We waited about an extra 25 minutes past the sun setting time, but It was worth It. So cute & there are a LOT of them

So cool to see over 400,000 bats fly out at the same time at sundown. It was about 15 minutes after sunset that they finally came out of the 2 bat houses. They flew in opposite directions into the evening sky feasting on bugs in flight. Free parking near bat houses. You cannot be too close to bat houses, all fenced in.

Beautiful grounds, very clean & peaceful walk during the daytime. Definitely wish we could have come at dusk to see the bats fly out, but still neat to see while they are sleeping. Easy parking next door was free on the weekend & the working farm all around the bat houses was cool to see as well.

Graduated in 2006 and learned of this "hidden gem" early on as a good place to bring dates. Back then it wasn't very crowded and there was only one bat house. It was amazing having all the bats fly around you using their echo location. The picture below is circa 2006 after I finished all my Undergraduate studies.

Amazing! Thousands of bats came out and over our heads. Don't think that they will be swooping down on the lake in front of you, because they don't. Still, an incredible sight to see! Next time, we will sit facing the houses to watch them emerge!

So cute and such a fun experience. They came out around dusk (like 20 minutes after sunset for us). There were SO MANY. They came out from both bat houses and the trees behind. The best spot to view seems to be in front of the middle and last bat house. They haven't really moved into the one on the left yet.

This was a really cool experience. I have been wanting to see this for a long time. The birds of prey waiting for them to come out was unexpected. A really awesome experience.

We went in the evening with our food and we spent 4 hours from 4 to 8. We took a lot of photos with the blossoming flower. And the ecstatic view of Lake Alice on the other side of road was awesome! Feel so fresh in the cool air and beautiful view! Highly recommend for visit!

Definitely worth going to see. They fly out shortly after sunset but be sure to get there a little early to get a parking spot. I wasn't expecting such a crowd to be there. We actually went back twice to see these bats again. It was pretty amazing. Highly recommend.

An awesome free thing to do while in town. The number of bats is incredible . Be sure to arrive 20-30 minutes before sunset to get a great spot. The bats will start trickling out shortly after sunset.

I saw these many yrs ago and it was great. Last night it was sad! As in nature reality sad. Very few bats BECAUSE 3 hawks and 2 Owls went up inside the house and got dinner right as it was twilight. One Hawk flew away with 2 in his possession! I hope the bats have caught on and are now living elsewhere. There were very few that came out. Maybe 100. I hope something can be done to help the bats not be such easy targets/food. Some students went by and said they could watch anymore due to this problem.

Luckily we were tipped off by the Tourist Info person. Magic started with peoe quietly gathering in a foeld of flowers, watching and waiting. As predicted, just after sunset, literally hundreds of thousands of bats started flowing out of the houses in 2 channels. Just amazing to watch.

Amazing to see so many bats leaving at almost spot on time about 15mins after sunset. Free parking right there for the times you would need to view bats, permit required earlier in the day.

A river of bats! That's the best way to describe 500,000 bats coming out of their houses all at once. When you first see the houses you think to yourself "wow, I bet there are 10,000 bats in there." You can multiply that number by 50! This is one of my favorite places in Gainesville. Everyone should come here at least once. Basically, every evening at sunset the bats all come out of their houses to feed. Their feeding grounds are miles away so they fly out in what looks like a river that you can follow with your eyes into the distance. The sounds, smells and visuals are electric.

Come see 500,000 bats take flight. No exaggeration. About 15 minutes after sunset. Plenty of parking available.

# 1 public university. That's all ya need to know.

It’s a shame because I loved the students in this school. But just like others mentioned, this institution is made as a money making institution more then education. Their main goal is to earn profit. They don’t give any care about the students. They made a mistake with my financial aid but did NOTHING to fix it. They won’t spend a dime on their students (almost all the fafsa is from the gov not UF). Be careful, if they do something wrong they will NOT own up to it.

#1 public university for a reason! Great student life, strong school spirit, and the best athletic program in the country overall! An amazing place to go to school!

A Wonderful complex spread through out the town. But everything is still close together. The stadium and main campus center provides a view into the school sports history. Facilities are excellent for viewing sports. The living quarters for students are excellent and plentiful would various interesting locations.

The customer service is awesome! Every time I had a concern or problem about my library card, status, holds, immunization records, etc. they went out of their way to help. The secret is in calling, they either help you right away or transfer you to someone who can. They are never a disappointment. Makes me proud of being in such a professional school and friendly school.

I’m a Gator from 1980 and have worked and studied here for over 40 years. Its a place of magic and wisdom…come to the garden at UF.

I have my bachelors and did my graduate work at University of Florida. Stetson Lawschool requires a Dean’s Certification from my degree school. After emailing and calling since March without any return communication I determined the drive from Sarasota was necessary in order to obtain the form. While trying to get help I was provided a parking citation from a spot that has no parking restrictions. Extremely disappointing.

We took our first tour February 2024. Recommend going on a Sunday first. If you have time to get an appreciation for all the facilities. Most of them were open and staff members that were there accommodating. Then take another trip during school hours. That will give you a much better vibe for the place. Grab a bite at the student union. Good Cuban food there. Best way to visit is on foot.

the college tour I took to UF was unmatched. friendly people, large campus, and lots of food to go around. can't wait to attend soon.

Over night the bathroom sink backed up and when I woke up the next morning and went into the bathroom. I noticed the floor feeled with water (and the smell a fecal matter). I called the front desk and sometime while I was out of the room someone came in vacuumed up the water and wiped the sink and counter top off, but I didn't smell no scent of bleach. I was not going to let that interfere with the functions that my organization had going on this passed weekend. A Gold member with brown member service.

Overall, it is a beautiful campus. There needs to be more options for there business program. There needs to be the following master of business administration concentrations as alternate paths: master of business administration accounting concentration, master of business administration financial bank services concentration, master of business administration insurance and risk management concentration, master of business administration financial risk management, master of science insurance/JD, master of business administration wealth management, and master of business administration healthcare administration concentration. There also needs to be a master of science in pharmacology and medical anatomy as alternate paths for allied health professional. I graduated from Meridian Community College with Associates of Applied Science in Medical Office Technology and Medical Billing & Coding Technology. I also graduated from Mississippi State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration Healthcare Administration concentration and Accounting minor. I have to complete credentials and continue education units in Medical Billing & Coding Technology or Medical Office Technology due to no employment history. There also needs to be a Doctor of Business Administration for Accounting concentration, Healthcare Administration concentration, Finance concentration, Financial Risk Management concentration, Wealth Management concentration, Insurance & Risk Management concentration, Financial Banking Service concentration, Small Business Administration concentration, Entrepreneurship concentration, and Real Estate concentration. There also needs to be a PSI Testing Centers for all of their campuses. There also needs to continue education workforce training programs for GI/Endoscopy Technician, Dialysis or Hemodialysis Technician, OB/GYN Technician, Anesthesia Technician, Pharmacy Technician, Ultrasound or Medical Diagnostic Technician Abdomen/OBGYN specialist, Ultrasound or Medical Diagnostic Technician Cardiovascular specialist for all of their campuses. There also needs to be a Doctor of Medical Science program for non-physician, physician assistant, and physician specialist. There also needs to be a Histology Technician program.

I do physical therapy here. Its a great place very clean great staff.

The administration is incompetent. However, they serve as an excellent magic trick: they take tax payer dollars and make them disappear! Where are they going? It sure isn't the student body, and it's definitely not the professor's salaries. Wow, I wonder what Ben Sesse (read: corrupt, hateful, anti-science politician turned UF president) has to say bout that! He would NEVER do anything bad, am I sure UF will become a MUCH better school with him in charge. 🙄

We were trying to decide which college to send our daughter to next year. Thankfully, because of her hard work, she has offers here, Harvard, Yale, and NYU. But her heart is set here. Thankfully, they just still eliminated DEI. Making our push to send her here even stronger. Beautiful campus and strong academic programs. We have always stood for diversity, ethnicity and inclusion, before it became a woke buzzword and reverse racism started. We can’t wait to see how her life unfolds at this amazing university.!

This is a University that now has NO Diversity, Equity and Inclusion because the government of Florida has gone back 50 years and is not in the real world. America is Diversified, Equitable ( or at least tries) and Inclusive ( treats people like people?!) But now it is against the law for colleges and universities in Florida to practice this. Well no thanks get your education from the real world and it won’t cost you any money!

Loved the place. Huge University. The college of engineering is just awesome. If you are wish to pursue research contact the faculties before you join the university. It may take around 3-4 months to get an advisor here. I feel proud to be apart of such a prestigious university whose standards are getting better each year.

This iconic stadium is something to behold. You feel the history when you walk into it. There is an energy. The only issue I have is it feels dated despite relatively recent improvements. Nonetheless, "The Swamp" does not disappoint.

It's always great to be a Florida gator. This is a great Stadium. With a great light show. Everyone here is very friendly. With great hospitality. If you haven't been I recommend going. It's worth the experience. Go 🐊🐊🐊 Great place to hang out. They have a wide variety of drinks to choose from as well. I would recommend this place anyone.

Go Gators! Love the swamp! Even up in the cheap seats the experience is great. The top section is actually great for families because the seats are a little more spread apart vs closer to the field.

It was awesome to be able to go on the field. Apparently during off season everyone can go into the stadium and walk around. People were jogging around the mezzanine and playing football on the field. Pretty cool to stand right on the 50 yard line too! Go to gate 18 to get in 😁 😎

My son is going to UF on a scholarship he earned on his own. I AM VERY PROUD OF HIM. During the Florida Day Tour, we went to the stadium and saw first hand how big it actually was. It’s was a amazing experience and was amazed at how much of a family atmosphere there was among parents, students and faculty.

The Swamp doesn't disappoint. It's old but there are plenty of great site lines and the atmosphere is terrific. Free water stations help because it's usually hot. End of 3rd quarter is some of the best stuff in college football. Go Gators!

Reminds me of the Orange Bowl. The Swamp is or should be a very difficult place to play for the other teams. Beautiful location and great views of the field from everywhere.

Stadium is nice. Got to go for the experience. Some of the Florida fans will give you a hard time if you are a visiting team, but i guess that's anywhere you go. Had a great time.

Sat on East side. What a dump, I have been to stadiums all over and this is the worst. Had three seats and we are small people and could not all fit on our seat number. No leg room. The guy behind me had is knees in my back the whole game. Stairs.. really 2’ wide could not pass those coming down or up. Fans hallways way to small. Old school bathrooms. Sound system is High School at best. Some guy donated over 12 million and was honored. I bet not one penny will be put into upgrades of the stadium. Nor will any of that Big SEC Money. Sad.. The Swamp should be called The Dump. The only thing good was the crowd support. Needs upgrade, upgrade, upgrade.

The Swamp, as Ben Hill Griffin Stadium at Florida Field is known, is a fantastic place to watch a college football game. Other than them making you throw away your cigarettes for your walk to your car bc its a nicotine free stadium. Well people should ne trusted enough to not smoke on stadium grounds. If they do, trespass them but don't make someone to throw their stuff away. We had amazing seats section 59 and they were great. Had an amazing time. Seems there were many ticket holders in thay area. They were all very considerate to others by not standing a lot of the time.

Be prepared to encounter crowds. Approximately 100,000 in one place. Get to the game earlier for better parking, obviously. I got there around 5:00 for a 7:00pm game. And we had to park about a mile away and walk in (which is only a 15 minute walk). People were generally nice. The stadium is following the "clear bag" rule. You can also bring in a clear plastic bottle (empty) for water once you get inside. But no other outside food and drinks are allowed. At the stadium you can purchase limited selections of beer and seltzer drinks, for you 21 and over drinkers. The hot dogs are sub-par. The game itself is LOUD, so bring earplugs if you are sensitive to noise. All in all, it was a great experience! I'd definitely go to another game.

I love the Swamp!!! Great stadium with a great team. Make sure to get a twisted pretzel and fresh squeezed lemonade!

I was there for the first time September 9, 2023 for the McNeese state game. I enjoyed it. The band was good before the game. Fireworks at each gator touchdown. Bathrooms were clean. Concessions quick and fresh hot dogs. I sat the section 15 facing the Florida sideline. Get a souvenir cup with $6 drink. My photo submission for #OnlyinTheSwamp made the video board in the 2nd quarter The only improvement could be the seating. You can't help but tough people beside you and in front of you. Have to stand up so someone could pass

This was such an amazing museum. Traveled from Orlando looking for something nice to do and low cost on a Saturday. It’s free but they take donations. So much to see and such amazing history to read about. Also they had public parking available. I loved every bit of it!

Very nice art museum - even the building itself is interesting & beautiful. The staff was enthusiastic, helpful, and friendly. We most enjoyed the sculptures, the Cuban art exhibit, and walking thru the incorporated garden. Some of the displayed art is in their permanent collection and some is visiting - I'm not sure which was which so this comment might become out of date: there were many "old masters" paintings that were dark & unappealing. Sure, they may be historical & educationally significant but they weren't IMO very visually pleasing.

Pretty good museum with many interesting exhibits, paintings and events. There's a hidden section in the basement of this building where some PG13+ art is displayed. The best sections among the exhibits are the Asian and African sections. The Asian section has beautiful sculptures, jewelry and pottery from India, Japan and China. The African section has super cool masks, head gear and weaponry from ancient and contemporary African tribes. Paintings are also worth having a look at, especially the impressionist and the Florida paintings sections. Some events are cool and have a lot of fun stuff to enjoy like dances, stories, and stalls showing you how to make some art or painting from that culture. Other events are very meh. The website will help you get an idea of which events are really worth checking out. Best of all, it's free to the public.

What a great collection of art pieces! We loved it! The food in the Cafe was great too. We were very disappointed that we couldn't leave a tip via card for the staff. That would lead me to leave 1 star review on the cafe alone if I could because you can't NOT take care if your staff. That breaks my heart. Luckily I was with a group and a few of us were able to borrow money from others we know to tip our amazing staff! Shame on those who made this ok.

A lot of unique pieces with interesting details about each. It's free and on Thursdays, they stay open till 9 pm. Something for everyone.

Most of the art was cool, except for one specific piece that looked like my 2 year old finger painted in daycare with a piece of macaroni... apparently it was supposed to be a man sitting next to a palm tree but it looks like a blob. Ok, so you have to visit both the Florida museum & the Hart Museum same day. They are right next to each other and have free admission. After learning about lepidopterology, I came across to get in tune with arts and culture. There's quite literally something for everyone here. Now for the tough thing that no one wants to say: I'm not for museums shoving black and African art down our throats. I understand the curating process and given the times, fair, but they dedicated the largest foyer to it, and they took away the most popular pieces to do it. I travel a lot and have been to museums all over, and my skin is brown, just for reference. With that being said, this is a wonderful place. The docents are exceptionally versed, and be sure to take a walk in the water and rock garden. Also, since it's free, buy a postcard or donate a couple of dollars, and it goes a long way. 10/10 a Gainesville must-see!

Such a nice museum! Being a Florida Native the Florida Art was obviously my favorite! We went on a weekday which was nice because it was not to busy. And you can't beat that it's Free. You do have to pay $4 for parking. I look forward to going back again!

I am not sure why I expected something larger, or something more involved. Still, it was a nice quiet experience. I enjoyed walking through the halls and looking at the items. There is a large focus in Cuban and African art which are not things I experienced much but thoroughly enjoyed.

Amazing spot and free admission! We donated and walked through the entire museum. We appreciated the curation, and I loved the organization. She/Her/Hers and Under the Spell of The Palm Tree were both amazing!

My husband and I enjoy visiting art museums and Harn was a great addition to our list. Parking is free (parking deck a short walk away) and there's paid parking if you find any free spots in the nearby parking lot. Admission is free, but donations are accepted. Once we walked into the museum, a friendly front desk person greeted us and told us about the scannable map of the location. Then, we went off and explored what exhibits were on display. My favorite part was the Asian art section. The facilities are excellently kept and clean. The women's bathrooms were spotless. There are also staff walking around at all times to ensure the art is being respected. It had a lot of empty space, which was different than other galleries and museums we've been to. Not sure if that is a good or bad thing, but it was interesting to see how the space was utilized. It was starting to rain when we 6 there were only a handful of visitors (maybe 10) that we encountered (it was Saturday around 230pm). When we left (around 330pm), more guests were arriving so we were glad to see the displays when it was mostly empty. Highly recommend for adults, but kids might get bored since there isn't much interactivity here as say, the Florida Museum of Natural History, just next door.

Free parking near the museum. At the entrance to the museum sits friendly staff who give recommendations. Many different exhibits: masks, paintings, photos… We were on Saturday. There were enough visitors. Due to the presence of free space inside the museum, visitors do not crowd each other. It is difficult to single out any zone. It was interesting in every corner. We spent about 2 hours inside and were extremely pleased with our visit to this museum.

Went to night at the museum "Africa Everywhere". That place is huge. It was so many people and best of all its free people! Yes. We are going back so we can really take our time. Right next to the Butterfly Rsin forest and the Natural Museum of History. It has a gift shop. Great for the family 👪

A hidden gem in Gainesville. My grandson and I took a trip from Ocala to visit and we were not disappointed. Well worth the drive and admission - very reasonable. A must see!

You can't see all the animals because of COVID-19, but it's good to spend time with them. The zookeepers are very kind, the bathroom in front of the zoo is clean, and free parking is available.

Best $5 you'll ever spend (Senior admission). You can get really close to the animals. Even in the extreme heat of July, there was enough overhead protection to not be too uncomfortable.

What an amazing experience, not only does this zoo want to benefit the local students but also the community as well. They make sure to ask you if any discounts apply that way you get the most for your money. Although they say you can make it through the zoo in 30 minutes, it took myself and my husband (2 adults) about 2 hours. We loved seeing everything and learning about the animals stories. Overall, there were so many species that we have never heard of before and they were all so well taken care of. This is worth a stop. Support students, wildlife and the community! We will definitely be back!!!

First of all, I would like to thank Santa Fe, student, Cola. The Zoo was fairly quiet so I was able to spend my time getting filled in on all the special stories, and educational information on so many of these animals. It is an exceptional zoo. The enclosures are magnificent. The animals have so much playroom and so much stimulation is provided for them. Good luck to all these students. Again, Cola, Thank you.

Enjoyed the self pace of walking through with a 3 year old and space for strollers either way. The students are very approachable and knowledgeable. The person at the front that sells tickets and operates the souvenir shop is kind and efficient. Great local experience if you live in Gainesville or just happen to be passing through.

Went for a trip during our vacation. We have 3 kids all under 5 so we were happy to find this zoo since some of the bigger zoos are something that our kids can't quite appreciate yet. We were very pleased with our experience here. Lots of animals to see...a little closer to than other zoos. Staff was very friendly. We were able to do the whole thing in a little over an hour or so...so well within the stamina of our kids. We also enjoyed the playground as well. Definitely recommend for something to do if you're in the area.

Visited this zoo with my husband on a Sunday afternoon. Admission was $5 for each of us since I'm a UF employee and he's a veteran. Patricia at the desk was very helpful and assisted with giving us directions to the parking lot since we ended up in lot 11 near the business ed buildings. Also, even if they close at 3pm, last visitors allowed entry is at 230pm. Bathrooms were clean and the zoo itself seemed well-kept. It was a colder day in the low 60s so there weren't as many animals out as when it's hotter. Lost 1 star for the reptile / herp area since it was hard to see the frogs through the dirty glass. Also one snake tank had a huge crack on the glass which was kinda concerning. Glass seems thick enough to not collapse, but still visually alarming. Employees were friendly and accommodating. Overall positive first experience for our first time visiting this place.

Took my son to see the zoo. He was so excited and absolutely loved it. The price is extremely reasonable and I would go back again in a heartbeat. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. His favorite animal there was the otters. He loved being able to walk around and take pictures.

My son and I went here for a field trip the experience was really nice. The people who worked there students and staff were really nice. The zoo was clean and the animals were very alert and visible to view. I plan on taking my other children to visit again in the near future.

We had a great time. A small zoo with with happy staff and nice facilities. I visited and was pleasantly surprised at the how well this small zoo was run. The cost of admission is fair for the size. There were extra precautions in place for animal, visitor and staff safety. I would visit again. There is so a small playground. Lots of shade thought the zoo.

Wonderful facility, dedicated employees! Tour was amazing, we learned so much. We opted to book the ride-on experience, which was such fun! Would definitely recommend while in town.

I booked a private tour for my wife and myself and we got to experience this wonderful place today. Everything about it was amazing. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and able to answer our questions, often times before we even knew what to ask. We saw almost all of the animals (remember you’re on the animals time and at their home so you may not get to see them all) and we also fed the baby lemurs. This was truly a great time and I recommend everyone get out there as soon as you can.

It was a great time! Learned a lot about the animals and also has a one on one experience with the lemurs it does cost extra but it’s worth it. They are so cute and friendly! They are doing a great job taking care of these animals. If you’re in town its a must do!

Incredible place to see a myriad of big cats, primates, exotic species and interact with some really cool animals. 10/10 would recommend. They have a very knowledgeable staff, my wife and I will be back. They also have the best cat on earth, the Caracal (die Rooikat), seriously an amazing place.

Had an amazing time on a private walking tour with my husband. The guide was very knowledgeable and answered any questions we had. My husband arranged it as a surprise for me, including feeding experiences, and she helped him keep it a secret until the end. I loved hearing the backgrounds of the animals, watching them interact, and seeing how happy they were. I would highly recommend visiting. Just know, you may not see all the animals because they either sleep during the day or are trying to keep cool. It is not the fault of the staff, you’re on the animals’ time and at their home.

Absolutely wonderful and fun experience! The Zoologists are friendly and knowledgeable, and the ride-on scooters are so fun! The Lemur encounter is 100% worth the $45 price. All the animals seem very content; the owners and staff clearly care about the animals.

My daughter and I absolutely love this place! We have done the group tours twice and the private tours twice and would recommend the private tour. It is definitely worth the money. Barry and Christine are amazing, along with everyone else there! The animals are amazing and you can tell how much they love their animals! They are well cared for! They have the oldest male Indian Rhino in the world, named Henry. He is just the sweetest! Him and Barry have a special bond! I could go on and on. Definitely recommend this place ❤️

This place is absolutely euphoric. The animals are taken care of so well. As a vet tech that works with exotics I am very critical and I was impressed. The staff is so friendly. Shout out to Lily who was super sweet and knowledgeable. The owners passion really shows. The establishment is very well kept. Scarlet was def my favorite animal and the Lemur experience made me cry because it was just so dang cute. Every penny was worth it and I absolutely will be back.

I absolutely had a blast. We had a wonderful Tour guide and she taught us about these beautiful specimens from tigers, to big cats, to lemurs. There were peacocks roaming the sky and some lovely little furry cat co-workers on foot who kept us all company. My favorite animals were the cheetahs and of course the lemurs who gave us a chance to pet them (ask for Sweetcakes)! The lemurs experience was so much fun! Afterwards we learned about all the ways to support this conservatory, from donations to open houses to the cute gift shop, to the open house events. Will have to attend, must see attraction right here!!! Say hi to Sunflower the tiger for me!!!

My family came down from Virginia and we stopped in here for a tour. It was amazing how many endangered animals they are taking care of, and how knowledgeable the staff is. We were surprised at the amount of animals we were able to see and interact with…at a safe distance. We were also lucky to get an up close encounter with a baby clouded leopard (adorable!), as well as to feed a rhino (both hilarious and adorable). Isaiah, the zookeeper who gave us a tour was incredibly knowledgeable. I don’t think there was one question we asked him that he couldn’t answer. He was friendly and welcoming, making the tour a great experience. Whenever we’re down here again, we’re definitely coming back to check on our new friends.

My kids were eager to visit here to see gators and that they did. SweetWater is a place I'd recommend for a nice relaxing walk and beautiful view of nature. The atmosphere here is lovely even though there isn't much to do. We didn't see all of the property but we ate definetly going back. It's family friendly and once you follow the guidelines you are very safe. Ideal for family picnics. There are many benches to rest if you get tired on the trail and they are also covered in the event of rain or if the sun is out. You pay about $5 to park via the passport app but entry was free and that parking takes you up to the closing time at 8:30pm.

Beautiful park! I walked most of the trails and it was about 4 miles. Lots of gators, wetlands birds and butterflies. The landscape is breathtaking and there's a few boardwalk trails so you can walk above the water. Dogs aren't allowed and parking is 5$. There were no mosquitoes which was a nice change.

Beautiful trails! I'm trying to conquer my morbid obesity. These trails were easy to hike. They're not paved or boardwalk, but the dirt is well packed and even. There are two benches for resting between the start and marker five (right after the first bridge). There are gators and wildlife when the season is in. We didn't get to see any on this hike, but it's only March. If you're an advanced hiker, this may easy for you. If you're a bit wobbly like I am, or just starting out hiking, this trail is a good one. It is a bit buggy, so bring the bug juice. 🖤💜😸

What a GEM!!! My husband took me here for a beautiful day out in Nature! We saw all kinds of beautiful wildlife. All sorts of birds, rabbits, gators, fish. They have a bathroom at the front when you first come in. Be sure to try and use it if you can because once you get out on the trail it's quite a hike but it's incredibly lovely!!! On these warm days coming up bring plenty of water and wear a hat. I highly recommend visiting this amazing wetland!

Sweetwater is one of my top favorite trails to go to! The environment is very peaceful and there is a ton of space for everyone. It is out in the open so there is not a lot of shade - make sure to bring a hat and wear sun screen! The park is full of wildlife and I have been lucky to see a gator every time I have gone! Other animals I've seen include snakes, turtles, and birds. It costs $5 per vehicle and there's a small parking lot that is easily accessible - I have never had issues with parking here. I highly recommend this park to everyone!

I love this place! It’s great for nature seeing, walks, runs, etc. It’s also a great place to see gators sometimes as well! There is little to no shade out there so definitely dress appropriately and wear sun protection. Have fun!

Incredible park just outside of downtown Gainesville. Gators galor with turtles and birds while you exercise. 1 mile loop or the 1.6 mile loop walk are gravel and pavement with a nice boardwalk.

Gorgeous park serving our community well. I saw snakes and birds, and heard the gators. As per the prairie be sure to wear sun coverage since it's wide open and gets warm early (in July at least). Overall park was beautiful, clean, and quiet. Pay to park through the app posted on signs in lot.

My wife and I are out of town working. Found this beautiful place to visit. There are a few spots along the trails for shade and 2 water coolers with cups. We are from Virginia and wanted to see alligators in the wild. Definitely not disappointed! We saw at least 40-50 gators. Some rabits. Many different birds and even a deer! Trails are very well kept and a park ranger drives around on his buggy checking on folks! Very nice place with beautiful views!

I went on 05/23/24 although I didn’t see any crocodiles I did see lots of birds. The trails are also very nice and it doesn’t even feel like you’re right next to a highway. Very nicely done and well kept park

First visit to Sweetwater but not our last. We loved the fact that the wetlands were created to improve the water quality of Paynes Prairie wetlands and the Florida Aquifer. It allows for a variety of short to longer walks. Some areas are paved, others are not, but we loved that there were no real trip hazards (roots, rocks, holes).They only allow for walking, so no biking, horses, etc. they also provide mobility tours upon request with 2 weeks advance notice. The grounds were well maintained. It’s more than worth $5 per vehicle ($2 per pedestrian or bicyclist) there’s very little shade, so be prepared.

One of our favorite parks. It is always quiet and there are always LOTS of birds. We love the paths and boardwalks around the ponds. There is a $5 charge to park, but it is well worth it.

I recently visited this park while visiting family in the area. It’s a great place to visit especially if you like walking on trails / paths. It’s well maintained and easily accessible for people in wheelchairs. It would also be a great spot for a picnic (if it’s allowed/not sure). My first visit seeing animals in Florida in their natural habitat.

No words to describe this beautiful property🏞 so well maintained it's handicap friendly. There's a couple of rest areas with water along the trail. You can hike you can stroll and enjoy the colorful view as you walk around The Preserve. We haven't had much rain this year, so everything is dried out, adding color to the edges of the Waterway showing you all the colors as the sun reflects down on top. This is only the beginning of our full season here. As things dry out, they become more beautiful, adding so much color and contrast and text you to the pictures. It was a full day adventure . It took over 3 hours to get there. But it's definitely worth it . Make sure you have plenty of water and sunscreen. Stay alert at all times and look at both sides of the Waterway as you walk through. I saw a couple of gators, but there's a really big one in there that crosses over the Waterway.

Sunrise is the most absolute, favorable time to be here. Witnessing the shift change of nature, misty water ways, listening to a myriad of bird songs greeting your every step, seeing marsh rabbits and Red Deer munching on their flora breakfasts. The night excursions are just as delectable!

Beautiful place to spend an afternoon. Many people were out for afternoon walks, taking pictures and enjoying the weather. There are places to sit along the paths and there are clean restrooms at the entrance. No pets allowed. There is a little open golf cart type of vehicle to take tourists around. You do need to pay by phone to park.

Great place to come and hang out. Had a food truck out front when we arrived. Phenomenal beer selection. Excellent staff. Looking forward to coming back when I'm in the area.

I don't know what's better: the beer or the staff! After having left another brewery a few hours before, all I can say is wow. Super flavorful beers with a huge board. The lactose beers are out of this world. No silly limits on tasting either so I could try the beers that sounded interesting and buy what I loved to go. Awesome beer!!!!

This is my go-to brewery. Went to there St. Patrick's day party. I've been here many times. Staff is wonderful, so many choices of craft beers. Just a great experience. Check it out if you're in Gainesville. Fl by far the best brewery in florida. Food is awesome.

As one of Florida's most notable brewery, it is an essential spot to be in Gainesville. Positioned not too far from Archer Road and as you can see from the pictures we had fantastic weather I would say it was one of my favourite experiences on my trip to Florida. The service could have been better as they forgot our order and gave it to someone else instead, but the beer was good. The only improvement would be to add finger snacks as we did not have many options to choose from. #DishtApproved

I am surprised I hadn't reviewed Swamp Head yet! This is my favorite brewery period. Almost every beer I've tried from them is amazing, and Big Nose is the most reliably good and refreshing beer I've ever had. The staff at the brewery is friendly, dog friendly, and enjoyable to be around. I always take visitors here. (Recent bartender was so incredibly kind, interesting to talk to, and caring. I wish I got her name so I could compliment here directly in this review!)

Great selection of beers, great atmosphere. Background music was faint but good song choices. We were a party of 4 that each had a completely different type of beer and we all enjoyed them. First visitors as three of us were from out of town.

Great place to have a good beer. Vast variety of beers to choose from as well as a very nice ginger ale.

Absolutely love this brewery. I've been coming to this brewery since they originally opened at the first location. I have attended multiple different events pre-COVID. Staff are always amazing and very knowledgeable. The outdoor grounds are very nice, especially the covered patio just off of the main building. However if you are bringing small children (which I often do), be aware that wildlife is prevalent in this part of Florida, I.e. you will see alligators from time to time.

Really nice park for the kids. Splash pad, multiple play grounds and a cool little sand pit. Kids had a blast. I didn't get to check out the shop, but it looked worth a go. The only issue we had was the limited parking in the main parking lot, but there is a huge parking lot just around the corner that isn't clearly marked. Overall an exceptional park.

This park was beautiful and had something for everyone to enjoy! The playground was so unique and very well maintained. The play structures were creative, colorful, and offered the ability to climb and play with curiosity. There is also a small splash area to cool off on the hot days. The playground was accommodating for all ages, even tiny tots. The walking trails were clean and well maintained. We were able to see a snake (no worries, not on the path, on the side in the brush), and some pretty birds. There was also a sidewalk with nice art to enjoy, for kids. If you get hungry, there are a few places to eat as well, and of course the option to get ice cream bars! There is also a lot of space for picnics! My only complaint would be the bathrooms, but only because they weren't very clean. I assume it's just because the park was really busy, we were there on a Sunday afternoon.

Very cool playground for kids with different skills. There is also a path around the park were many people walk/run/exercise. What we were missing as parents of a 6 year old was a coffee shop and some benches towards the pond.

Apparently, it is a water treatment and unfloodable zone that feeds off into sweet water. It's a great place for birdwatching, I'd say. Parking lot is filled. Make sure to get here early, bring water, and walking shoes. The sun is another level out here, only about a 1/10 of a mile there's shade along this track, wear a hat, sunscreen, and/or grab an umbrella.

I live taking my grandkids to Depot Park. Great for picnics on the lawn or under a pavilion. The splash pad is awesome and the kids of all ages enjoy cooling down under a spray of water here and there. The park sports lots of jungle gym types of enjoyment as well, including a construction train with slides a tunnel or two make from concrete culverts, swings and sand pits with cranes. Set up great for kids with disabilities too. That's a great plus! Love it! Love it! Love it!

This park is a highly underutilized park, as most are, but they really did a great job with the Hoggetowne Medieval Festival last weekend. There was a lot of participation and working with the city providing maps of where to park (both free and paid parking). It was a good time for all ages and shows some of the true Gainesville colors.

Love it went to depot park for our 18 year anniversary we walk around have a craft beer and pizza walk around it was. Beautiful day then say down on the grass and waited for the sun down great day

This park is really cool. Great area for the kids to play. There is a trail that goes around the lake. The lake has great wildlife, from gators, to turtles, and birds. There's a place to eat and even a museum.

Beautiful park! Lots of fantastic trails and sidewalks. A lovely area with a lot of cool places to hang out and catch shade. The amount of native plants was really cool to see. The sidewalks were nice and wide, no problem for my giant tricycle. Was here for the ride ataxia event. Thank you so much for hosting us!!

Best urban park in Gainesville. Pavilion with picnic tables, a large lake with several trails for walking or running and aquatic playground. There's a free 5K Park Run every Saturday at 7:30 am (all fitness levels, walking or running). Close to the Hawthorne trail for those who are looking for a longer hike

The best park Gainesville has to offer. There is a short and long walking loop that connects to the 16-mile long downtown connector trail. Events are hosted periodically, but even when there aren’t events, this is a great place to walk around, meet up with friends, skate, see the sunset, picnic, play field games, etc. The boxcar nearby has drinks and music sometimes. Bathrooms and water are available next to the playground, although all close at 8:30PM.

Great place to hangout with friends, go on walks, go running, and start biking the Hawthorne trail. Easy to get to whether you own a car or not. On New Year's Eve, there's a firework show which is 20 min long!

Nice urban park with plenty of wide trails to exercise. It connects with the state trail heading southeast if you're looking to cycle longer distances. The only drawback is there's no shade since the trees are still young. When they mature this will be a beautiful park.

Number 1 on my list for BEST playgrounds! Not only is the area beautiful and clean and well kept but the park was amazing. I couldn’t believe how awesome this park is. The splash pad inside which was just big enough with a shaded area for parents to sit at with fake grass! LOVE that! There are so many different areas at this park that you could literally spend all day here. The bathrooms were clean and they recycle not only trash but their water too! I almost want to move here because of how amazing and clean Gainesville seems. I wish we had this park back home! My whole family loved it and we will definitely be back!

We tried to go to the medieval festival boy was it packed there was so many cars you couldn't even move obviously there was no parking so it wasn't free they were all taken they were charging $20 to park your car and there was a lot of businesses jumping in on this deal they must have made a Fortune just on parking we had to leave there was just way too many people it was ridiculous.

Love it! The wildlife, walking/riding paths are great, and the park for the kids is amazing. Love it and will certainly come back with the grandkids.
