We had an absolute great time! Our driver Bernie was wonderful and very knowledgeable. The ride was fun and the dunes were awesome!! I would recommend getting a time slot in advance online. The slots fill up fast.

Oh this was so much fun. You can buy in advance. They do accept walk ins, which is what we did. We were able to walk in and be loaded on the buggy for the very next ride, in fifteen minutes. The driver Gary was hilarious. He made the adventure so much better with his commentary. I highly recommend this and I'll definitely be back with different humans.

Iconic attraction for locals and natives, operating since the 1950s, the dune rides are a highlight attraction in Saugatuck. Great guides, beautiful trails and fun history. Bonus: super interesting to fly over and see the trail, check it out on your next flight.

This is an absolute must do activity for anyone visiting the area! We brought our two daughters with us, ages 5 and 2, and they both had an excellent time. Our tour guide did a great job of keeping everyone entertained as well as being very informative about the local area. You learn quite a bit about the local environment and history while also having a blast shooting around in an open aired buggy on the dunes. Definitely reserve tickets ahead of time if you can, they sell out quickly!

Great experience! Our driver was so nice and knowledgeable about the area. The ride wasn’t super bumpy, and good for any age. The ride did go a lot faster than I thought it would, which I was happy about. Would recommend to anyone visiting the area!

Our driver was Frosty, and he was so much fun and so funny. Frosty knew his stuff and had a lot of fun with his job. He was a real joy to be around, and the history he taught us was really interesting. We supposedly maxed out at 25/30 mph, but it felt a lot faster, especially going around the curves.

We had a great ride with this outfit. Staff was super friendly and knowledgeable about the history and subsequent creation of these sand dunes. Bernie was our supee guide that gave us a drive of our lives. He starts off and shows his reverse driving abilities without being on the seat . His fun jokes rival those of the Disneyland Jungle cruise and could easily start his own show. He intertwined that with speed cruising through the sands that only a Nascar driver could handle . I also need to mention his knowledge and history of the area and the affect of civilization in the 1900's created this dunes. I would recommend you go here and enjoy the ride. My only complaint really is that it was longer . Hated to go. Thanks for a great time.

I highly recommend doing this ride. It’s not an all day thing so not a huge time commitment. Our guide was very informative on the development, history, and ecology of the dunes. Nice scenic views. Fun experience. Worth the price of the ticket.

Our driver, Ian, was terrific. We had a blast. Very informative, and the best rollercoaster like fun around the dunes that buried the old logging town of Singapore.

We went on the dune ride in the afternoon and had a blast. Our driver was Nate. He was both knowledgeable and hilarious. We had a group of five little girls on our trip with their moms, and Nate kept including the girls by name, and joking with them, making them feel comfortable. You’ll stop for about 10 minutes to get out and walk around. Nate gladly took pictures of us…and included himself in one 🤣…then off you go again. It was so enjoyable, we wanted to go again!

We had an absolute blast on the dune ride with our driver Paul! Not only did he navigate the dunes expertly, but his knowledge of the area was impressive, and he answered all our questions with enthusiasm. He had a great sense of humor, and his corny jokes kept the ride entertaining throughout. There were also several stops at places so we could enjoy the beautiful scenery. The view at the top of the tallest dune was of Lake Michigan and the surrounding area. It was gorgeous! We would definitely recommend this experience to our friends and family.

Fantastic experience. Great fun cruising along the tracks, sliding just a little bit around the curves. The driver was very knowledgeable and his jokes were so bad that they were pretty fantastic. Definitely recommend taking this ride at least once.

When I read that it was a 40-45 minute ride I was guessing was going to be in this big vehicle going slow and no excitement but I was wrong. The driver was great. I did not think about stops in the ride for a couple great scenic overlooks, or some strange stops at props with cheesy stories and jokes but also included some very interesting stories on history. This place us an hour from home and never been here before, but would go again. Trip started to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary and my 55th birthday. This is a gem that have missed out on for long time and now want to share with grandkids

This was one of my favorite parts about our trip to Saugatuck. Booking online took less than 5 minutes. We got there 10 minutes before our ride time and signed a waiver and waited. Lots of seating while you wait. Johnny was our tour guide and was so nice and knowledgeable and entertaining. Highly recommend!

We took our 4 teens and they had the best time! Beautiful scenery. Great commentary throughout the tour. And when my 16yo lost her phone during the tour, the staff was amazing at helping us locate it. Thank you all so much for a great time!

We visited from Iowa and had no idea such beauty was at our backdoor. We figured we'd have to travel to the coastline, but nope, this is the spot for a quick road trip. One of the days it was pretty windy, so we moved our chairs next to a dune, problem solved. This is a must if you like the beach!

Excellent spot for a quieter and more rustic beach experience. Sand dunes and portapotties replace the flat sands and brick & mortar features of Silver Beach. Wear your suit under your clothes so you can hike the trails or nap on the beach to the rhythmic waves. If you are looking for a more remote beach, this is the spot for you.☀️

It is the most beautiful beach that I have been to in Michigan and it reminded me of the beaches in Miami . Absolutely beautiful!! We had to wait an hour in the parking line but it was worth it. Parking costs $10 even if you have the Michigan State Park pass.

Fabulous spot even in the Autumn. Super fine sand, which squeaks as you walk. Can imagine it would be heaving in the summer. Quite steep into the Lake. Apparently there can be dangerous currents too. Waves get surprisingly high when the wind gets up. Good parking.

Soft sand beach. Beautiful. Restrooms and concessions on site. While $4 for an ice cream cone seems "much" it's a really nice Beach, friendly for all. Also $10 entry fee. Worth it.

Clean beach, tons of waterfront, so even when crowded felt ample space from others. Rocky not sandy in water but fun searching for stones. Excellent beach day, easy walk with your beach gear. No huge dunes to get there.

Lived in Michigan all my life and never have been to Lake Michigan, what a perfect place to experience it for the first time, and was blessed to be able to see an amazing sunset.

Top 25 beat beach fronts in the US! The great un-salted coast. Recommend getting there anywhere from 10-11AM on the weekends as the parking fills up. Beautiful beach and one of our favorites when visiting Saugatuck.

Nice beach, BUT they charged me entrance at 8:45pm (sunset was at 9:01pm). Some beaches don't charge closer to sunset. I spent $10 for just over an hour.

My Favorite place to relax! Oval Beach is my go to summer destination! Pay an annual fee pay per visit for just 10 dollars! Near to home and always so clean! Even on busy days with lots of people, it's still enjoyable, not too crowded or overwhelming. Hang out on the beach and splash in the water, or take a walk through the beautiful dunes! Take a hike up Mount Baldhead -- if you dare! There are some swings available near the beach in front of restrooms. And while we're in the area, restrooms close at 730 pm so be aware as the time nears. People always are very friendly here! Look out for the guy with the pet duck! They are awesome if you seem them stop em and say hi! Maybe pet the ducky aha! Seriously though, I love this place, lots and lots of beach, sand, and dunes to explore. No Lifegaurd Please stay for at least one sunset this year, you will be glad you did, they are so stunning! Plenty of parking, handicap accessible. Great for all ages.

I enjoyed my walk up those stairs but I wish there was more to do once I climbed them. The view was great, though. I wish I would have taken the path from oval beach.

We did the stairs + hike + oval beach on a beautiful October day. The temp was upper 50s with sun peaking in and out and it was perfect weather for all the work! Up the stairs to start is very rough! We immediately regretted not bringing some water to drink. Down the dune to get to the beach is not as bad (except when you start thinking about having to walk up it on the way back!) We had such a great time once we got to the beach. It was gorgeous. The water was clear. We looked for fun rocks and sea glass. The hike back up the dune is a challenge for sure! Going down the stairs at the end wasn't too tough. The whole family enjoyed our day, two adults and two kids, ages 8 & 12. I wore boots to give some foot and ankle stability but the rest of the family did the sand parts barefoot.

This was a highlight of our visit. Climbing the stairs reminds me of visiting Buddhist temples in Japan that typically have hundreds of steps, albeit not as steep, to encourage connection with your body and contemplation prior to arriving at the top. This is similar in that the energy and heart rate required to climb the 282 steep steps is significant, and the reward is the view from the top. I wish there was better signage here, including what to expect when venturing down the dune on the other side should you choose to keep going to oval beech.

Not too difficult and definitely worth the view. It's around 280 stairs. I'm a regular person and it took 6 minutes with a few short breaks to get on top. From the top you can go the opposite side and get to oval beach. The return took around 3 min. The view of the city was great.

Beautiful in the fall!! — We just climbed steps to top and began the hike down in the sand, but turned around shortly after because we thought about the steep climb on the return trip. 🤪

It's okay, if you want stairs as a workout it's great, but overall it's okay, not much of a park, more of a hangout place near a river. Adequate restrooms, it tries to be quaint, but it's not. I like it because it's free and more casual, and a great staircase with awesome views.

Excellent trail from the river side up to the radar dome. Enjoyed the view and every bit of the steps. Have to warn you that walking in the sand down wards to the beach from the peak is quite a workout 😂. Don’t underestimate that like I did.

Parking is available right in front of the 302 stairs , there are seating options nearly , the Kalamazoo River views are awesome with people chilling out in the boats , fishing by the boardwalk, having a good time. Resting place is available at intervals for the stairs. Need to catch breadth after climbing the stairs as it was a summer afternoon and muggy weather, otherwise it’s fine

Amazing place to explore, around 309 stairs and then hike down on the other side to the Dunes and back! Total of 74 floors and around 5800 steps, absolutely love this hike and the air is so clean and refreshing. Did it winter time and the stairs were very clean from ice.

It’s a very different place. Sand mountain ⛰. It’s very steep climbing but you will feel good once you reach top. And best part is you can go down on other side to reach to the beach 🏖. Parking space is limited but place is beautiful 😍. Riverside has a historic collection center to have a idea of how the bald head was earlier. Nice place for family and friends. Riverside you can go boating 🛶, kayaking and many water activities. Also you have hotels for stay. I plan to go stay couple of days the next time. A lot to explore.

Great spot for people who like hiking. Those stairs are very steep but it's a beautiful view.

Wow!! The view was good, I anticipate even better views once there's foliage! The stairs were no joke though. Lots of spots to sit and rest. It was busier than I had expected.

Simply the best way to get to visit Oval Beach if you are staying in Saugatuck. Take the ferry across the Kalamazoo River and walk a half mile along the road through the wooded dunes to get to the beach parking lot. Scenic walk, with wildlife (deer, Eastern Wood Peewee, wrens). Saugatuck is a great destination to stay at and simply never get in your car for a few days.

Excellent ferry across the Kalamazoo River. The young pilots were extremely nice. Went to Baldy's for lunch after climbing the nearly 300 steps to the top of Mt. Baldhead. Awesome place to take visiting family and friends!

The chain ferry is an interesting oddity from the past. A few guys turn a wheel to pull a little ferry full of people across the river, about 100 yards, to the other side. From the edge of downtown Saugatuck to a subdivision near the motel across the river. Fun....

$3 saves you the 3 mile walk around Kalamazoo Lake.

Very cool feature in the town of Saugatuck. Unfortunately its function seems heavily reliant on the weather.and river conditions. During our entire stay it was closed and not operating.

Open from Memorial Day until Labor Day, it is basically the only way across the river unless you want to drive to the nearest bridge. Fare is $3 right now, and it is the last hand cranked ferry in the US. Fun to watch them go across the river and allows for people to get to the lake from downtown.

Such a fun experience. Good for all ages.

Great musical performance from the best singers and dancers.

Located across from Mount Baldhead, it has beautiful gardens overlooking the Kalamazoo River. This year's new exhibit is titled "Cold War | Hot Towns" and introduces Saugatuck in the 1950's, 60's and 70's. The exhibit shows the origins of the radar tower sitting atop of Mount Baldhead, and the stories of people who lived through the wild weekends that shut the town down. Admission is free, but donations are gratefully accepted. You don't want to miss this gem on the river.

This is a nice compact museum that gives you the local history in a nutshell.

Quaint. Not much room for a lot of history, but they have done well keeping the local history.

This is one of the best shops, if not THE best shop in Saugatuck. Wonderful items and something for everyone. Beautiful art and objects and owners who care about what they are selling. We also stayed in the Amani Suite and it was wonderful. We plan to return. Thank you Wally and Mike!

We visited last summer and bought this piece that hangs in our dining room. We loved their service and selection. There was no problem for them to ship the painting to Texas and it arrived quickly and was very well packed. We will be visiting again this summer and definitely plan on making another purchase!

I love this place. They have such interesting pieces of art. They are a little bit higher on their prices compared to the same items at the fair trade store in Holland. But, they do have some pieces that are not available at the fair trade store in Holland. I love both places a lot.

Loved the vibrant colors of the art/every day pieces. Great, unique ideas for home decor. The bird statue made from driftwood was really nice.

We reserved a spot for wine tasting online. It was $10 per person and we got our own table and 7 tastings. It also comes with a $5 off coupon when you buy 4 bottles of wine. We ordered the charcuterie which was a great deal for how much food you get, and yummy! Also, there was live music on the lawn and great prices on the glasses of wine! Beautiful place! Definitely will be going again!

Caryl was so kind and helpful. Such a beautiful day and she suggested sitting outside. She even had me try some new wine that I absolutely loved. Got a charcuterie board and it was so wonderful. Highly recommend coming to this place.

A suggestion from my boss' wife. They had an event but we were still able to do a wine tasting at the 'bar'. Denise assisted us and she was very pleasant. We tried 7 different samples (technically 14, 7 each) and had some hits and misses. We did bring 4 bottles home with one being a gift for the suggesty. Nice experience and some decent wines.

Fantastic place for wine tasting at a great price. They have a good selection of wines and hard ciders and they charcuterie...very tasty. The grounds are inviting so you can sit outside( in the shade or in the sun) and sip your wino.

The wine is 5 stars but the place is kind of boring inside. If it's nice weather I recommend sitting outside, since the grounds are nicer than being inside.

Fenn Valley Vineyard did an amazing job for my daughters bridal shower. The host Deb helped with all the details. Awesome wine tastings and service. Well worth the money. Recommend this place to everyone.

Fenn Valley has some really good wines. Great venue. Delicious charcuterie. We took the vinyard tour and enjoyed tasting the grapes along with the wine from that grape. Aaron was a lot of fun and taught us so much during our tour. Highly recommend!

The hubby and I have been wine club members here for a while, and absolutely love the wine; BUT we love coming in for a glass because we ADORE the staff. Everyone is so down to earth, and caring, and clearly love what they do - which is introducing the rest of us to the latest and greatest flavor experience Fenn Valley has created. Exhibit A: I tried Meritage a couple times years ago, wasn't a fan. Today, Wendy, Deb and Linda had me try the latest version and I LOVED it. Now my only problem is I don't have enough hours in the day to drink all the wine I'd like to.......Thank you, Fenn Valley!!!!!

We always enjoy this family owned winery. There are a wide variety of wines for every palate and lots of events. The tour of the various vines was very enjoyable and educational!

As long as I've been in the Arts, I don't recall hearing much about this school. I learned some art history just visiting this place. I hope to get back and visit again. I love what they're doing here!

Nothing but wonderful things to say about my experiences at Ox-Bow. I have taken many courses over the years and plan to return again and again. A great intergenerational learning community and amazing staff and faculty keeping the place running.

Discriminates against mothers! How Trump like! :An Open Letter to Ox-Bow from Michelle Murphy Chicago, IL August 1, 2016 Dear Ox-Bow, Artists, Arts Administrators, Friends, Mamas, I am an artist, grad student at SAIC, and new mama living in Chicago. Yesterday I traveled to Ox-Bow (Art College Courses and Residency Program in Michigan). I was prepared to create new work, and learn new things amongst the incredible opportunity to take a 2-week college photo and video course with artist instructor Jennifer Sullivan, “Me As Material” at Ox-Bow. It is/was incredibly unfortunate that I was asked to leave (yesterday) on the first day from Ox-Bow against my will or intention. I am deeply saddened and feel I was turned away unjustly. I believe that I have every right to receive the same educational experiences and opportunities as my peers at SAIC and at Ox-Bow despite having a newborn. This specific course I enrolled in “Me As Material” with Jennifer Sullivan relates to creating work from the personal narrative with humor, etc. Which is why I thought making photo, video, and sound works with my newborn child…who is healthy and already well adjusted to my ambitious art-making schedule (i.e. sleeping through the night, not loud or disruptive, and happily attached to my body in a bjorn) would be welcomed or at the least accepted. I can’t underscore enough how this particular course work relates to my current studies and its obvious connection to exploring personal life as content or narrative. There is no written policy excluding children on any Ox-Bow materials or website. In fact, there were children present on campus, and I was told by many past residents that many Faculty in the past have brought their children seemingly without an issue. I explained to the directors at Ox-Bow that their lack of written policy as well as my preparedness to take the course and to seamlessly take care of my infant’s needs by simply stepping away for short breaks when needed to feed or change my baby. As I told the Ox-Bow directors/staff I am fully prepared to take this incredible course, and to create new work amongst my peers in the studio there, and I had all corresponding equipment needed for my success and for my infant’s care in the process. I purchased all of the necessary gear associated with a smooth transition (and this is would be my 3rd art making trip with my infant this summer). *See the attached photo I took this morning showing all of the gear I had in order for my success as an artist student and mama at Ox-Bow. I received a merit-based scholarship through my grad program of $4,581 to attend this summer course. I was responsible for paying for a living expense and fees of $1,100; the living expense included my request for a private room and their prepared meals. Knowing that this merit scholarship will not be extended to me in the future (I anticipate graduating this Spring), I feel this is my responsibility to utilize this resource/opportunity during this specific time in my academic and career development. I am capable of doing the work and being a mama. There are plenty of faculty and students in my cohort that have been understanding and supportive while I continue to surprise them through my commitment to making and participating in school, and in the art world at large. Ox-Bow please re-consider your decision and allow me to prove that I am a fully capable and respectful artist, student, and mama. (I wrote to Ox-Bow for them to reconsider their decision. I have not heard back from them.) Sincerely and in concern for all Artist Mamas wanting equal educational opportunities, Michelle Murphy

All Saints Episcopal Church is a gorgeous historic church built in 1871. They worship at 8am and 10am, and the people are super friendly!

James is brilliant and kind. I have stopped in her on more than one occasion, and it's always nice to talk with him and his wife, while seeing what he's currently working on! Beautiful pieces of art- both religious and non. Lovely carved wooden boxes. Beautiful stones and chunks of copper. This is by far the best gallery in saugatuck in my opinion!

We stopped in her on whim. This place has fantastic art for everyone. The staff was very helpful and Uber nice. I think we have found our new favorite gallery.

Mr. Conner paints with such realism. He has a magnificent Head of Christ on Italian stone that is brilliant.

What a refreshing way to sit in a beautiful venue like this and take a moment to look at the world through the eyes of the many talented artists that have contributed to this Arts Center! I kicked myself a few times for not visiting this little cutie of a town earlier in my travels. It's got a gorgeous bay, great dining choices ( I'm recommending Mermaid's for Fish n Chips and Scooters for pizza) and lots of cute shops to stroll through but back to what we're here for: The Center for the Performing Arts! Wow! This theater produces some really good productions! I recently saw Legally Blonde and the level of talent was OUTSTANDING. I was really impressed. I also can say that I don't think there's a bad seat in the house. It's not a huge theater, so your chances of getting a good seat are really good. Ticket prices are fair and the quality of the production I attended delivered. I highly recommend. 👏 👏 👏

Wonderful experience! The bourbon was good.. Apple was incredible. Ended up grabbing a few to take home. The liquor tasting area was great, nice knowledgeable hostess, clean, plenty of seating. The cider side offered the same, knowledgeable host, ample tasting space...however they were out of the jalapeno which was my main reason for venturing there...I was not disappointed in the other offerings though. When you go, order a sugar rim to accompany your cider, delicious!

Be sure to get your receipt. Walked to the car, realized they'd forgotten to put the rye in the bag, walked right back in. She admitted she forgot to put it in the bag, and it was still sitting on the counter. Refused to put it in the bag or refund my money for it, because they had "lost" the receipt, and "state law" prevents them from making it right.

Bought a bottle of the Coppercraft Rye in Tennessee on our way back home to Virginia from Dollywood. Very, very nice Rye!! I will definitely buy this again! I wish it was available in Virginia but it's not, so will have to wait until next trip to TN! Again, very nice Rye...definitely worth the price!

With a name like "Coppercraft" that's been open for more than 10 years, you'd expect that they'd have their own whiskey on the shelf. Nope! Not only is it all sourced, but the staff doesn't even know whiskey. If you want a premixed cocktail or someone doing something with sourced spirits, this might be your place. If you actually like whiskey, go elsewhere.

My husband and I have been to over 50 craft distilleries in the US, Ireland, Scotland, and Iceland, so I would say we know a few things about distilleries and whiskey. This distillery names itself "copper craft", which implies they distill everything in house while in fact most of what they sell is not even distilled in the same state. It would seem only their vodka and gin is distilled by them while all of the whiskey is by MGP in Indiana or sourced from Ohio. The staff couldn't even answer if they get white lightning or barreled spirit from MGP; in fact the staff didn't even know the exact mash bill of their rye (we did not ask about the other whiskeys but at that point we were giving up). This distillery wants you to believe that everything is made in house with statements on the bottles saying "made in the USA" "Michigan proud" and made from "local grains" insinuating the grains are from a farm next door but "local" can have a broad definition. Now some distilleries will source from MGP until they get their own spirits aged enough to bottle in order to keep the lights on, but this distillery has been open for over a decade and does not have a whiskey they distill themselves or seem to have plans to. The head bartender tried making the point that bulleit bourbon is also sourced and yes it is but everyone knows it's sourced, they don't hide it with misleading bottle labeling and naming their distillery after a still. This "distillery" is a money grab, plain and simple. Listen, we aren't saying you shouldn't go here. The premixed cocktails are good for what they are but know what you are being sold. After forming the above opinions we learned that this place was bought out by Betsy DeVos so make of that what you will.

Indoor and outdoor seating available, this is in the social district so you can get drinks to go. There are three bars inside and bottles and canned cocktails to buy to go as well. Would definitely recommend the Winnie, that was the favorite cocktail that we had in our cocktail flight. Not very accessible since it does require stairs to get into the bar.

It is a rare experience that you run across someone who elevates your experience as much as Stephanie does! We stumbled upon this gem of a place walking around downtown Saugatuck and the service and great knowledge provided by Stephanie brought us back the next day!

GREAT BOOKSTORE! We and our out-of-town guests found much to choose and each of us bought a few books. We understand this is the oldest operating bookstore in town. And a much better prospect than the other establishment a few doors down, Book Nook. Thank you, Judy, for your help as well as running a very professional business.

No one was there and nothing had prices. Also, hours are unpredictable.
