This place is really impressive. You don't really get a feel for exactly how tall this monument is, until you are standing underneath of it looking up. It was a shame that we weren't able to go up to the observation deck, as out time was short, and the line for the elevator was way too long. What an awesome view the property offers though. Truly an honorable memorial for Perry. Next time we come, we will make it a point to ride up to the top. I'm sure that the view is breathtaking

This is a wonderful monument with great facilities. The staff is knowledgeable and the view from the top on a clear day is breathtaking. The island has a ton of attractions and entertainment for kids and adults.

A must visit place in Put-In Bay. The view from the top of the observatory was awesome! The park rangers were friendly and helpful. The ticket to the top of the tower was $10 for adults. It takes around a minute in a classic old elevator to reach the top. The rangers will be there to explain the brief history. In the top there are information boards and also the guards who can explain the view and the information about the islands in sight.

If you want the most fantastic view of the island, you can only go here. It has an elevator to the top to see the whole surrounding islands and area. The monument has great information in the visitor center that tells you all about the battle, history, and the people involved. It is run by park service folk that will answer any of your questions and are friendly and professional. It is also one of the taller monuments in all of the United States. It truely is a beautiful monument, view, and amazing part of history.

I didn't know anything about this memorial until we were on the island and to discover the history behind it was informative and interesting. Unfortunately the elevator was down and we were not able to go to the top, which I'm sure provides breathtaking views. It was still amazing to go into the rotunda and see the inscriptions inside.

Great views from the top! Inside the moment there's a nice history of the monument and the area. It's right next to the Lake Erie shoreline so it's very scenic.

Great memorial! Love the views you get of the different islands, Canada and Lake Erie as a whole! The park rangers were very nice and I was impressed with their knowledge of history! My only complaint is that I wish you didn’t have to reserve a date or time but that’s all! Highly recommend you stop here, it’s worth the time and money!

Main building was closed during off season, but it was very pretty and the lawn was well maintained.

We had an absolutely AWESOME visit to the Perry's Monument during our recent visit to Ohio. I brought my daughters to see where I grew up as a kid, and hadn't been to the top of the monument in about 15 years. The Park Rangers were so professional and welcoming! We were pleasantly surprised when our interagency pass that we earned from being retired disabled military veterans, admitted our whole family. Thank you all for such a memorable visit!

We enjoyed our visit to the memorial but were disappointed that the elevator is out of service due to a lightning strike. I was at the top years ago and it offers a great view far across the lake. Nice visitors center with information on the battle of Lake Erie during the War of 1812. There is actually six officers, three American and three British that are buried under the monument itself. When we were there, two people were dressed as a British officer and sailor and gave a demonstration of firing war-era flintlocks.

This whole time I thought it was a lighthouse. I am so glad we checked it out. First National Park I've been to as well! Slowly connecting the dots of America's history, all the lessons that were crammed into a semester of middle school, remembering only enough to pass a test. It's so much more to see it in person and from a place of genuine interest. The NPS has done a great job. I hope to visit many more National Parks to fill up my passport.

This tower and museum is the best thing to do in Put-in Bay, other than water sports and spending time in parks. The view from the top is great. A must visit.

Didn't even knew this peace memorial existed until our day trip to put in bay. Highly recommend! Don't forget your park pass, it will get you free admission to the top of the monument. Learned some from history about the war of 1812 and how lake eerie was a part of it.

Don’t waste your time here. There’s plenty of other activities on the island. The only reason for 2 stars is because the crystal cave was cool and it is really nice that you don’t have to go outside to get in the cave. The actual wine is disgusting. It’s like they mixed rubbing alcohol with cheap grape juice. It’s horrendous - I don’t have any nice words to say about their products. I was so happy to see a cab franc, I even joked with my husband that we should take a case home. My husband had the dry red blend and it was just as bad. We both received our samples, each took a drink and set them down and left. If I were the owners, I’d expense a trip out to Napa and tour Orin Swift or Caymus. I think they could learn A LOT from them. If they were wanting to stay closer to home, they could always travel over to Niagara on the lake and visit Peller, Reif, and Gretzky wineries. This establishment needs SO MUCH help.

The coolest thing on the island: a geode you can walk through. AND they make fantastic wine and grape juice.

Didn't get a photo but had a chardonnay wine slushy that was delicious!! It was 16oz. for $9.00 which is a great deal for PIB! You could also get a full bottle for $15 which is also very reasonable! Plenty of outdoor seating and the service was fast and friendly! Would definitely go back!!

By foot or by golf cart, Heineman’s is easily accessible and an over all good time. Growing up I loved the great juice and after being out of Ohio for 10+ years I am now able to enjoy the winery too. Everyone was friendly and allowed for a positive tasting experience!

Group of 7 of us went to the winery to start our weekend. We got multiple pitchers of the sangria and mimosas to share, and they were delicious. Super chill atmosphere outside.

We visited this winery over the weekend, definitely smaller and a quick tour less then 20 min, it was interesting but maybe because it was end of September there wasn't much going on ! Worth for a quick visit , took as approx 30 min for both the winery and the Crystal cave !

The cave was the size of a small living room, it took 5 minutes to view. Not worth the entrance fee. However the winery tour was excellent. They have great wine

We visited on a Monday, hoping to avoid the crowds. They were still super busy! The staff are amazing and super friendly; it's just a bit more rushed and lacks the winery charisma that we have grown to enjoy. We did tour the geod and found it unique. We did buy some cool rock chimes and a decorative wooden box at the gift shop.

What a great attraction to visit on the Island. Our tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. She answered all of.our questions and made the tour fun. Such an interesting history to the winery. It was coll to see all of the past and current equipment used to make their product. We were surprised that the winery had 40 acres of land on the island to grow some of their grapes. The head wine maker was their, in the process of getting a new batch ready for fermentation. In the tasting room, we tried the sweetest wine, and it was delicious. We went there early in out trip, so we didn't buy full bottles to take home, since we didn't want to carry them around the rest of the day, but we will look for them online and order some that way. Awesome time!

Can't remember the name of it and the cheese tray was really good hanging out and having wine with the girls and watching the eclipse such a great place to watch it from ! We really enjoyed both tours and our cab at the end was delicious. Very reasonably priced too compared to some of the other touristy things we did in the area.

Decent price for we purchased with the crystal cave tour. The employee who gave us the tour was very knowledgeable and funny as well. We bought 4 bottles of wine and one bottle of juice. We would go again!

Loved this place! My absolute favorite part of my trip to put in bay, gift shop had really great prices too so i was able to pick out a cute & affordable rock. I was only able to try the juice but it was fantastic! The tour of the winery was very interesting and insightful. I liked learning about the process that went into making the different wines and juices. Good prices for drinks and deals and my family said they loved the taste of the wine. Fun for all ages!

I have had nothing but positive experiences with Heineman for many years. I recently decided to try ordering wine online and having it delivered and that was amazing. The packaging was great, it arrived quickly, and had a wonderful handwritten note that I really appreciated. This is my favorite winery and I doubt that will ever change.

I like finding quiet spaces and I found one at the clifftop that was just amazing. The town itself is a party time they like music and drinking and having fun. It's a younger crowd I would say and their twenties and thirties. I would definitely not stay at the state park again.

The best vacation I have been on! Not only because it's close to home for me(compared to Florida) very friendly locals, LOTS TO DO! Even family friendly! You wont regret it!

Beautiful day or weekend vacation spot in the Lake Erie Isles! South Bass aka Put-in-Bay has so many fun things to do and see: Oliver Hazard Perry's memorial, wineries, restaurants, caves, etc! It's also a great place to bike around and enjoy the natural environment.

If you like to party this is the place... Lots to do up there. You have to go up there for Halloween it's the best place and a lot of bars but there is this one its called the round house and the bar moves. It's just a fun place for people and the boat ride over to island is very nice. Just a heads up stop drinking for the ride home on boat , just a heads up....😱😱. But if your going up to stay at Halloween make plans way before like months ahead to get a room. A great place and the people up there are so friendly and kind that it makes want stay.... Just that feeling.

No better place in the world. If you can't find something you love here, than you will never find it anywhere.

Beautiful vacation spot. Great for fishing, and fun things to do in the area. You can rent bike's and golf carts for low prices right after you get off the ferry from Port Clinton, Ohio.

Enjoyable place. Rented a golf cart here after paddleboarding over from Catawba Island (via Starve Island). Visited Perry's Monument and had some pizza downtown, also enjoyed visiting the lighthouse. Took the ferry from the southern point back to Catawba. Reminds me of nearby Kelly's Island, just a bit more developed.

A great retreat for the family but most of all the kids. The butterfly house is an interesting exhibit for the older family members. The Fort Maze is our favorite exhibit. If your able to beat the maze in 5 minutes or less the kids get prizes. The putt-putt course is fun and has some better than most obstacles. The cave has a neat history.

A must do in Put in Bay. The tour guide was very educated. If you are 5'6'' or taller you will be ducking. Takes about 15 minutes. About 55 degree in the cave. Tour guide educated us on the history of the cave and the different minerals. There was also a small pond that was extremely cool..fresh water. Definitely would recommend.

Great little escape from the summer heat! It was informative, the cave is amazing, staff are very friendly, and they have a neat gift shop for everyone. Lots of attractions around as well such as a maze, rock wall, minigolf, and a place to an your own gold.

The cave is missing stalagtites/mites and is pretty well lit, so there is high visibility the entire time. The put out course was one of the best I’ve played, their gem mining was a ton of fun for the kids and I’m looking forward to returning in season for the Butterfly House

I’ve loved this place since I was a kid! Great mini golf course with tons of interesting facts about Perry/The Battle of Lake Erie. The cave is really amazing, and the underwater lake is a must-see. Great little gift shop too.

Had a wonderful time playing mini golf, touring the cave, looking at antique vehicles and visiting butterflies!

Pizza was slamming. Don’t know what style it was technically (maybe we can call it a Midwestern style) but it tasted pretty good! The red wines were a little surgery for my liking but the white wines are pretty sharp and clean. View is absolutely amazing on a nice day. They have tables all across the front so you can do so prime people watching too.

My favorite place in Put-in-bay! The patio is so relaxing right there on the water. The wine is good. I love the fact that you can get flights! The pizza was delicious too! Coupon online for a free chocolate covered strawberry.

Beautiful views, friendly staff, and good wine. They have cheese plates with crackers and salami or pizzas you can enjoy with all types of wine.

Love this place so much! Went here last summer and can’t wait to go back next summer. The atmosphere is unmatched. So close to downtown yet you would never now it from the mood. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful with the wine selection. I had the blackberry wine and the chocolate wine and both were to die for. My girlfriend got the same but she got them as wine slushies which were debatably even better than the glasses of wine. We shared the Pear Gorgonzola pizza and the flavor was superior to any other food you will find on that island. Definitely will be back! Eager to try the wine tasting tour 🍷

Wonderful staff and experience! Would recommend to anyone of all ages! George was our energetic friendly and charismatic tour guide and we loved hearing all the plethora of stories and history he had to share with us about the island and this lovely winery! Cannot wait to go back again :)

Delicious wines in a comfy setting!

This is one of my favorite wineries! All of the wines are absolutely delicious! The blackberry and the chocolate are my favorites! I love the property - it has an ample amount of outdoor seating and clean restrooms. The staff are so friendly and efficient and its a bonus that the place is dog friendly!

Good Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio. If you like sweet stuff they sell a chocolate wine. But I recommend you stay with the two whites I mentioned. Outside area is nice to seat, talk and enjoy the wine.

I absolutely loved this place. The wine selection was very good. I ended up buying the chocolate and moscato wine. The chocolate cove strawberries were amazing. Everything was very reasonable. They had a lot of outdoor seating with a bar outside. The staff was vey friendly and knowledgeable about all the wine. The place was just so cozy from in the side to the outside. I highly recommend this as a must to visit.

Always a favorite with on the island. The chocolate covered strawberries are delicious and the atmosphere is wonderful! Enjoy privacy in the gazebo out back, or join the patio or grassy areas for an enjoyable time watching the golf carts drive by and watching the marina.

We always went to DJs ice cream! But since they closed down, we tried this place. I'm not sure why it doesn't have more stars.... The ice cream was to DIE for. I got unicorn dream and cotton candy!!! Delicious. .my son got a piece of cheesecake , and my husband got the 12 layer chocolate cake! So good. Atta helped us and he was awesome. It was super busy, so be patient with the workers. Portions are huge! Prices are "cheapish" for the Island. Will definitely be returning here. .

This is in the bottom level of Frogs and Whiskey. My husband and I walked up from town. The chocolate was delicious, the cheesecake was amazing. Also had a sundae with a scope of ice cream of your choice and a shot of espresso over it, it was the best!

Such a neat place!! My favorite part was watching the girl (barista) at the counter, work. Britain (I asked for her name), was the sweetest, most helpful person I’ve ever had wait on me. I loved the variety of the place, the atmosphere outside, everything. The museum was neat, and everyone was just happy to be there. It’s a walk, so I would suggest using a golf cart, but it’s worth it!!

Museum was unimpressive, no chocolate tour, very expensive chocolate and ice cream. We waited 10 min for service and we were only people waiting with 2 people behind empty counter doing side work while we stood there. Was about to leave before my sister yelled at them to help us.

The perfect place on the island to get hot or cold chocolate beverages. The ice creams and drinks were both pretty good. The place was moderately crowded when we arrived there at 11 am on a Sunday. However, the service was quick and I'll be sure to give them a visit every time I go back on the island.

Wonderful German Chocolate. Had a history of chocolate with plenty of candy, chocolate, popcorn, ice cream, fudge, cake..EVERYTHING chocolate. Definitely a must go for yourself and great place to grab gifts to bring home. Also had seating outdoors with a small germen hot food restaurant where we sat and ate amazing ice cream. The popcorn was "the best caramel popcorn" the person i brought it to had ever had. The décor of the museum was very cool with a great history of chocolate. My friends all enjoyed their ice cream very much. We did not try the hot food outside at the Biergarton which is attached to the museum but not part of it.

I only got fudge and I was very unimpressed. I Can't say I have ever been served a 1/2 lb of fudge as a blob before this. Very hard to divide this up and to eat it. Not to mention, she wrapped it in paper so half the carmel stuck to the paper. Would not recommend this place if you want fudge.

Museum area was far smaller than I was thinking, but super cute! The coffee and chocolates were great too. Fun location beside beer garden!

If you skip the Chocolate Cafe when on Put in Bay island you've cheated yourself. Various Chocolates and others from Chocolate fudge to walnut maple fudge. Plus other Chocolate treats.

We came here with 3 kids for ice cream.. what we were able to get at 3 pm was ok. There was no chocolate no vanilla ice cream no butter pecan no cotton candy hardly any flavors left. My kids sort of liked what they were able to get not blown away..

An Engles relative and my Grand parents owned the Anchor Inn The Ford Trimotor my first airplane ride And worked on it in Kalamazoo. One of the Trimotor’s are still giving rides at EAA Air Venture Used to watch car racing Question there’s a poster on a wall in town That has view from window of said Trimotor of the fly over the island and monument I would like a picture or the actual poster Cheers 🍻

Great little museum fill of history about Middle Bass Island. Donna and Dan were great hosts! Take the time to watch the 15 min. history video for a very interesting overview!

Small but interesting museum. Good movie about the history of the island and a lot of historical artifacts on display.

This little museum is a gem! Only $7 for adult ticket. Starts off with a 15 minute video of the history of the Island. Then so many displays of times from the past, that if you are with someone that isn't in to history then do it when you are with others that love it. Really good artifacts and stories. 2 hours easy.

Very informative, many island-related historical artifacts going back to Native American era, very friendly and helpful staff. Worthwhile. Allow an hour an do watch the video overview of the history of PIB. Don't miss the resale shop behind it; many interesting things for sale to support the museum at very reasonable prices.

Such a beautiful little beach on the island, there were few people there on a Friday afternoon. Nice little photo opportunity for people visiting from out of state. The water is clear and the peaceful atmosphere are perfect!

Nice park to get away from the uptown area. Parking area & trail around the perimeter of the preserve. Small beach area with views of Middle Bass Island and other islands. Also a good place for kids to run around & skip stones.

A must-see. Wonderful place to sit out and watch the waves. The trail is great, with benches and seating along the way. There is a spot to watch birds as well, which we really enjoyed!

This is not the most nicely maintained trail I've ever been on. It is pretty narrow and could be trimmed back - but it is still a pretty trail with many views of the lake and the ability to get close in a few places.

We loved this little trail. It can easily be done in about 20 minutes but we stopped off a lot the water. It was beautiful.

A nice place to access Lake Erie shore. Be aware of splashing water, waves collides on stones. There is a trail to walk but it wasn't well maintained like other trails on the island, in my opinion.

It's a beautiful easy hike to get to the Cliff's Edge. And the scenery from the top it's amazing. I highly recommend it!

Terrible, tripping over rocks. And Better make sure you have google maps because the trail markers do not take you back to the parking lot.And not a single flower spotted.

Mosquitoes are bad once you get a ways down the trail. Not to much to see here and there are rocks to trip over but they are painted. Defined path to walk on that is mostly covered with mulch.

Having had a cottage at Put in Bay for 50 years, ever since I was a child, rarely does anything there surprize me. I was recently surprized to stumble upon the Jane Coates Wildflower Trail. At first glance, it is nothing more than a path through the weeds, until you see wild flowers and the lake from very different vantage points than the normal car, golf cart or bike ride. It also gives access to Buckeye Point which is a real treat if you don't mind wading through a little bit of water to get there. I recomend this "oasis from shops and bars" while visiting Put in Bay.

Nice place. There was a ton of wild hyacinth, the most I've ever seen. Volunteers need to pull the invasive garlic mustard and remove invasive bush honeysuckle. The invasives detract from the site.

Not a place to visit in september. No flowers and just spider webs. But it would be nice if it were more taken care of. Not long distance.

Fun hike, its through the woods (we were expecting more of a field. Feels like you are walki g through someones back yard at times. Trail is well marked.

Beautiful park. They did a good job on it. It's one of the newer parks on the island. My daughter and I did some geocaching there.

Easy to navigate. Had no issues. Something the people selling tickets could change is how they word some things. I was told no round trip tickets for vehicles. I wanted to take a motorcycle. This was the first time I have ever used it and. Saw very few cars returning the day I went. I would have been able to take the bike if they had told me I could do a one way there and one way back just to be sure I was in line early enough if I wanted to make it for sure. I also saw the brand new boat while boarding

Fast and easy ride to the island. Everyone was so nice. The views of Lake Erie were wonderful. What a great start to a fun couple of days. HINTS: There is a lot of parking, but it keeps getting further and further from the ferry dock. You can drop off your luggage and peeps at the ferry and then go park. It is also a decent walk to the boat, so be ready. Biggest things, be patient, and have FUN!

My first time on the ferry was cool until we was coming back from Put in Bay and the ferry was rocking a little more harder than when we came over. Not sure if it was because of the wind or less cars on the bottom but I was scared. The way they load and unload the vehicles i was truly impressed. I was glad to experience this.. Other than that staff was nice I like it. The whole set up was nice. Very cool idea. I will try one more time.

The ferry ride to the island and back was the most pleasant part of the day for us. We had never been to the islands before and we weren't quite sure what to expect. We gained quite a bit of knowledge from our recon trip.👍👍😁

My family and I LOVE Miller Ferry. If you are going to Put-in-Bay, we highly recommend taking Miller Ferry. You can take your car (which can be super convenient) or just walk on and get a golf cart when you get off on the island. And the employees there are super friendly and helpful. I used to go to the island a lot for business, and I can tell you the best part of every meeting there, was the trip to the island on Miller Ferry. It's a great way to get to Put-in-Bay.

Such a great experience. Highly recommend using this Ferry system over to the island. You can either sit inside , or outside in the sun or shade. If your handicapped they allow you to stay on bottom level so you can enjoy the ride as well. They are true professionals loading and unloading cars.

Awesome ferry experience, with a short trip on a clean boat with nice Staff. The ferry is efficient, on time, and popular for travel to and from South Bass Island. A one way trip is approximately 20 minutes with spectacular views of passing watercraft. The free parking lots fill up fast for the late morning trips, and surrounding private lots are about $10 for the day. There were only two vehicles on our return trip and therefore plenty of room to move about and see Lake Erie.

Great experience with the Miller Ferry. Easy loading and on time departure! If it leaves at 9 am, you will miss the boat at 9:01. Smooth, safe ride. Plenty of golf carts on the island when you dock. Highly recommend!

Super friendly staff. Nice clean ship. Beautiful views. Had a great experience. You can take cars and bikes,dogs on Miller Ferry. $18 round trip.

Decided to take a day trip to Put In Bay so we used this ferry. Price wasn't bad for round trip for 2 people. Was $36 in total. Got over to the Island in under 20 minutes.

This was the first time me and the young one experienced a ferry. The Miller ferry set the bar high for us! The prices were great, we took our vehicle over to the island so we could bring all of our travel stuff with us. Loading and unloading was always quick and safe. We can’t wait to go again!

Many scheduled trips daily so you don't have to worry about missing a ride to the Islands. The ferry is punctual and the people are very nice. Clean restrooms and spectacular views if you do need to wait.

Great park. They have a good size playground and the Put-in-Bay sign. Would be great to visit at Sunset.

Nice quiet spot to pull over, park your cart and eat lunch or dinner and chat with your friends. I did not see any washrooms. The views of the harbor and docked boats were great. Plenty of Geese in the area, so watch your step. A few people were fishing in the area. There were some tables and a pavilion nearby.

Beautiful view, there was a gaggle of geese that wouldn't allow us to get too far into the park lol.

Smallest Ohio State Park, no fee, expansive harbor view and of the monument plus clean bathrooms. Watch out for goose droppings.

We weren't at this park long but enjoyed our time on a gorgeous day! Very pretty around there! We would recommend Oak Point!☀️
