Johnstown inclined plane is definitely worth a visit. The park at the top is nice too. Highly recommend if you are in Johnstown.

The inclined plane is under construction so you currently can't ride it or get to the viewing balcony. I think you can possibly go into the restaurant at 4pm and after for a view of Johnstown.

I lived near the Incline Plane for a year and took many rides on it, enjoying the view. I like the gift shop as well. My grandchildren all had fun. But most of all, I loved the restaurant. Best Italian food anywhere. And the view was beautiful as well. The restaurant is still open, from what I heard. But when will the whole place be open. It's been about 3 years.

Historic, beautiful and uncommon would be a few words to describe this local gem. The staff is also notably friendly , knowledgeable and courteous. The views from the top are stunning. There are also a nice gift shop and evening restaurant at the summit.

This place is awesome and a must see, worth a day trip (but make sure it's during the open season). I live in Pittsburgh, a few blocks from the Duquesne Incline, which I ride often, and this one in Johnstown is a gem! It was closed when I visited and I absolutely will return when it's open. So, a little known day trip you can take, from Pittsburgh to Altoona, will allow you to see 5 inclines, 4 of which you can ride. The Duquesne and Monongahela inclines in Pittsburgh, Johnstown inclined plane, Allegheny Portage Railroad, then the mini incline at the Altoona Curve. Enjoy 😉.

Very cool experience with great views of the town below. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Finding the right place to park at the bottom is a bit of a challenge but certainly worth taking the time to do.

Riding the plane is rather inexpensive. They run roughly every 15 minutes, although I wish hours of operation started earlier. Mountain bike trails are easily accessed from the top, ride bikes down and ride the plane back up. The bottom, however, requires you to carry your bike up through a very narrow passage and stairwell. If you are running bars over 700s, it's very tight, and difficult for children. I had to carry my bike up, then go back and carry my sons bike up. The trails are pretty technical and I wouldn't advise a novice, especially a novice child, ride them. The trails require ability to control your descent and handle tight turns. The lower section of trail is mich easier for a beginner.

Don't fear it, it's really not a bad ride! Although this incline is steeper than the ones in Pittsburgh, it's a much smoother ride. I generally have weak knees if I'm even three stories high somewhere, but I was stepping out of my comfort zone to ride it and it wasn't bad at all! It was a very smooth ride and it even still transports vehicles both ways. I wish we'd have started at the bottom and put the car on to get to the top. The platform outside is a great view and from inside the gift shop you can see the mechanics of it (as pictured here).

Definetly a million times better than the Pittsburgh Duquesne incline. So big, spacious and I love that it can carry motor bikes and cycles and even small cars. The view from the top is amazing, not crowded, and I love the little icecream joint. There is a large park designed like a baseball field just next to it do u can relax while enjoying the view. If u fancy a meal, there's a wonderful Italian restaurant just next door. Must see if u are in jonstown area.

Nice museum for a historical day trip. Very sad at times due to tye events. If you like history this is a good deal. Not to expensive.

Worth it just to see the lighted diorama describing the flood. Nice film about the flood. Neat artifacts. Cool old building built as a library after the flood. Carnegie donated the funds. Don’t miss the Oklahoma house!

Interesting museum about the history of the floods. Great tour guide talked to us and explained everything. Only down side was that it was incredibly hot inside and my wife and I were not prepared for that.

We met Barb when we came in. She had so much information. She is definitely a great asset to the museum. We had already learned about the flood but there were so many pictures and stories that it was so heartbreaking. So many people lost their lives unnecessarily.

Truly a local gem with some serious PARKING ISSUES. The struggle was that we had no prior knowledge of the town, and I could not find any obvious information either from Google Maps, or the JAHA website on where to park. Google Maps shows a decent parking lot adjacent to the museum, but it's not available for visitor parking. There were several other parking lots that we drove past, that were by permit only. There is a parking garage at the corner of Walnut and Vine, but it's 4 blocks away. At the corner of Walnut and Washington there was a blue sign with an arrow pointing over the bridge for the museum parking lot. We parked in the first lot we saw, which runs along the Conemaugh River, and is immediately past the bridge. When I asked a museum staffer, they said the correct lot was across the bridge next to the red caboose. This means you take a left after crossing the bridge heading towards the train station. This requires you to cross 3 busy streets on foot, and if you have kids in tow, this could be a nightmare. I think having this information beforehand would have been helpful. All that complaining aside, this museum oozes with charm and history. The first level has a very clear lit-up diorama-like map that shows you the timeline from the moment the dam broke, to the time it hit Johnstown. The 2nd floor is more modern with a theater that regularly shows a really good, short film on the disaster. The 3rd floor is an open space, much the way it looked when it was built in 1891, with a really neat organ. At a price of $7.50 for students 3-17, and adults at $9.50, I felt this wasn't outrageous for a non-profit. If you can do both the museum and the NPS Memorial (free), which are 20 minutes apart, I would do both, as they offer different perspectives. Literally. If I had to chose one, I couldn't. The Johnstown museum feels more authentic, but the NPS Memorial offered more space to walk around outside, and a more dramatic video of the tragedy.

It was a very interesting historical and tragic event that took place in Johnstown after the South Fork Dam breached and destroyed everything in its path. The film captured the magnitude of the disaster. The displays are informative. The Oklahoma Hut is one such display that was made available to survivors for shelter. The museum guide was very helpful and knowledgeable giving us a map of structures that survived the flood.

I was visiting Johnstown and I had to see Grandview Cemetery after I went to the flood museum. The cemetery is peaceful and very well kept. If you love history, this cemetery has lots of it.

Many years ago, , my parents bought two casket sized crypts, anticipating that they would both be buried. But Dad decided to be cremated, and so upon his death, his urn was put in the full sized crypt he bought. When Mom died, she also was cremated. We wanted to inter her urn in the crypt we owned next to Dad. We called and spoke with Evelyn. She quoted us $495 to open the crypt. We began to speak with dates that worked for our relatives and for the clergy. We called a week later to give our suggested dates. Evelyn told us that the price to open the crypt was now $750. We asked her about the previously quoted $495, and she admitted that she made a mistake. She had my parents' names and burial locations, but she told us $495 and that's what we'd planned on. At no time did she call us back and clarify her mistake. Rather, she let the mistake sit until we'd made our date decision. Only then did she inform us that she had misspoken on the price. I asked if I could speak with Mark. She put me on hold and after 15 minutes I called back. I think Mark must have been embarrassed or angry at his employee's mistake and chose to take out his frustration on me. I explained that my parents had bought full sized crypts and that we were quoted $495 to inter my mother's remains in hers. I asked him if he'd honor that price. Mark answered me in mono syllables. "No." When I would ask him to explain...asked for clarification on a point I didn't fully understand...or walk me through the process, he began screaming at me. Literally. And then, he said "we're not doing this anymore" and hung up on me. I was trying to make arrangements from out of state. I had legitimate questions regarding the interment of my mother's remains. I questioned the 50% increase in the price quoted me from one week to the next, and rather than apologizing for the mistake, and explaining the process, he hung up on me. I certainly hope that he doesn't speak to other bereaved or elderly folks in the same manner in which he spoke to me. But he probably does. Some people might have not have the means of coming up with twice the money they were quoted to bury their loved one.

It is a historic, beautiful, and sincerely peaceful place to either visit loved ones graves or take a long walk. However, I will agree that the new management leaves a lot to be desired. I find the removal and disrespectful treatment of personal items, and especially American flags as unbelievable. Yet, I will still rate it a 5, as a visitor, not as a customer.

I use to love going to grandview it was so beautiful and peaceful. Now its dreary and so depressing it's sad because at one time this place was Grand. The grass is not cut properly, weed eaters must be out of service also. The graves have nothing on them and if you do put something on them they throw it out. Not recommend at all.

Beautiful Cemetery very well maintained. Not sure what cemetery these other people are going to but it apparently can't be the one in Johnstown Pennsylvania. I was at Grandview yesterday and it is beautiful as ever. They don't let people put Gotti Dollar Store junk on the graves.

We went, spur of the moment in a Saturday. 1st floor was very educational and interesting. You can follow the life of an immigrant and learn what they had to endure on the journey. We took my grandkids (ages 4 and 1), and they LOVED the 2nd floor. It's filled with tons for kids to do. Fun while still educational. The air conditioning was out of order on the 1st floor, but worked on the 2nd- so we survived!! Lol!

This is a very interesting place with something for everyone. However I have to say for it being just an aspect of the building, the Children's Museum was very cute and had something even for the littlest of people. There was lots to learn and lots to do. From dress up to blocks to a water room and a slide. Even with children of varying ages each room had something they all can enjoy.

What a fantastic place! Great history of the area (not just flood related). Interactive tour on the first floor. 2nd floor has past and present information on Johnstown. And the 3rd floor is incredible children's place. So many different rooms each with a different theme. Our boys loved it (7 & 3).

A wonderful experience for both adults and children. The first two floors are for historical purposes on immigrants stories who came to America, many parts interactive. The third floor was perfect for kids with a building area, water play area, deck garden, mining coal area with indoor slide, career area, sound board, kitchen and store areas as well. Fourth and fifth floor for adults.

Outdated with a lot of the exhibits broken and not functioning correctly. I’m glad I didn’t pay to get in, this place isn’t worth a single dollar. What an embarrassment

It's a great little museum of local history. Things for everyone. The 5 floors are packed with different things of the area. The 3rd floor is the childrens area. With playing area and a slide. A water table for kids to discover about the Dams. And a little runway for the kids to play dress up.

Great interactive museum/exhibit that explains the History of Johnstown and people who came from over seas to live there and start a new life. Lots of fun and has a play room for kids on the 3rd floor.

Love the children’s museum. We’ve been here at least three times. It is johnstown specific but again, needs a reinvestment in supplies. For example, you can do water play where you recreate the flood of 1889. Now, the wood pieces are so worn from use that they no longer provide the dam breaking experience and the water just all trickles through. Some exhibits have been broken for years, while others remain in excellent condition and have been updated. My Kids fav remains the coal exhibit- my great great grandfather was a coal miner here and I like that the kids can connect with and learn more about that experience hands on. The museum just needs some investment in the exhibits and it will be 5 stars again.

This place is huge and has so much to see! It is so well done and each exhibit is interesting and interactive. There are so many things for kids to do of all ages. If I loved nearby, I'd definitely make multiple visits to be able to explore everything!

This place was super cool and fun for the kids. They have a gift shop as you walk in then you can tour the immigrant stories or go the 3rd floor where they have tons & tons of different things for kids to do. They have a kitchen area they can play kitchen and pretend to grocery shop and check out at the register. They can go thru a pretend coal mine that then takes them down a slide. There are water like tables there so an extra change of clothes might be helpful . Kids can put on a fashion show and walk a runway. We highly recommend going and checking it out.

Great way to spend an afternoon and or morning. I would say the 1st floor has a good theme, but is probably in need of a refurbishing. The tech is getting old and some of the features did not work. 3rd floor is great for kids 2-7. Staff was great and helpful. The experience was affordable as well.

1st floor is a museum focused on immigrants, the 3rd floor is the children's museum. Not too much on the 2nd floor right now. In another building near the entrance is the steel mill section with an educational movie.

1st time here and was for a concert. Excellent show with not a bad seat in the house. My only knock would be handicap accessible parking. Don't know if there are accommodations as again my first time there, and hopefully not the last

Great place for hockey lots of seats not that cold and is my go to rink. Come here every week for my son's hockey teams and the rink the the best one we've been to lots of space in locker room, and 22 sections of seats to sit in Tomahawks play here and everybody likes it. The only people who hate it is the away teams that never win. Also there is sometimes other things then hockey there is concerts, circuses, plays, wrestling matches and more. It is also very clean compared to other stuff rinks we have been to. The score board is very nice and during Tomahawk games there is also different things like big Mac attack and chuck a puck. Johnstown is a great town for hockey 🏒

Nearby parking. Great acoustics. Fantastic view, probably not a bad seat in the house. $10 for a tall can and seedy bathrooms but hey it's a concert that's what ya get. Will definitely attend other bands here.

The arena itself was as it always is... decent. I took my granddaughter to see Peppa Pig. I paid over $200 for our 2 seats 2 weeks prior. On the day of the event, people were paying 27.50 to fill up the seats. Needless to say, there were a lot of seats vacant. The show itself bordered on being too loud to hear actual words to being too soft to where the audience was all you heard.

Was great show and prices for food were not bad. Parking took some driving around. Overall very good show with the dropkick murphys, the interrupters, and Jesse Ahern

Very nice venue! Seats are a little small, but all in all comfortable. No bad seat in the house. Food and drinks are affordable ,especially by comparison of the Pittsburgh venues. It is an enjoyable experience and I will be back!

Came with pretty low expectations seeing that this is an arena. We showed up to see a show tonight. I was quite impressed as it is smaller, more manageable and acoustics were awesome. This Awesome Experience made up for the dated look and the cramped seating. Hopefully you get more acts in here, Bruce up the place and modernize a bit and you'll quickly come top spot!

Literally can't believe all the rock bands I've seen here lately. As far a parking goes just drive around a bit. There is plentiful street parking and parking lots. The venue also let's you know about parking garages on their Facebook page which I have yet to have to use.

The arena itself is nice, parking can be crazy! If there is a concert don't bother spending the extra money on VIP tickets because they will allow all the GA ticket holders in the VIP area. Which don't get me wrong the more the merrier, but why spend the extra $$$$? Otherwise was a great time! Update: This time without a VIP ticket you're not allowed to stand up? This is my third concert here, did not buy VIP due to my first experience. In July came to a concert here and got GA floor tickets it was a nice time everyone stood behind VIP areas without issues no seats on the GA floor, no complaints and was a very busy concert! This time? I got GA floor tickets again as not everyone likes to sit at concerts. During the first band we were all able to stand behind the VIP section at the gate which is the normal GA floor placement. When the main bands came on security forced everyone who was not VIP to sit down in folding chairs they had placed back on the floor. Nobody was allowed to stand. This was strange. A select few were able to talk their way into VIP, but most had to sit for the rest of the show and were chased back into their seats by security if they tried to stand up and even walk a few feet forward to take pics or videos. Never experienced this before at a show and I travel to lots of venues! As for the venue itself it is nice and clean, sound is great, just found this experience strange. Music was still good though! I already have tickets to two more shows purchased for this venue guess we will see how that goes!

As a part of the crew that puts on an event at this location, it is very small and out dated. That being said, the people are very friendly and helpful. They will do whatever they can to help. The reason for the 4 stars is because of how tight and cramped everything is.

We have come here a few times. Today 3/26/22 is my last time. A group with two dogs were in here. I would not come back here if they paid me. This was absurd.

Great atmosphere and nice people! The wine is priced good, they make it themselves close by, and it tastes great. They even have painting sessions once a month I believe where a teacher comes in and you can drink and snack and paint a picture in groups. Definitely a cool new place for anyone 21+!

Wonderful little winery in Johnstown, PA. We visited the flood museum, and were pleasantly surprised to find this little winery tucked away about a mile and a half down the road. We really enjoyed the Cambria City Red, and took a bottle back with us to OH. Glad I was within walking distance to the hotel after a full tasting of the wines. The local cheeses were excellent too. The owner was friendly and very knowledgeable. Make time for a visit if you are in the area...

Lovely little gem tucked away. River is beautiful and clean. Kids loved swimming there. Playground was nice. Pavilions were adequate. I thoroughly enjoyed the fire pit.

Absolutely lovely place if u desire some peace and quiet. Fortunately I was the only person there so it was peaceful and refreshing. Love the stream flow (water super clean and cold!) and pretty big ground suitable for camping although no overnight camping is allowed. There was some construction happening and no specific place to park but made it work. Definetly a place to stop by.

It's definitely a nice free day our. The bathrooms were clean the playground was functional, there is a volleyball court. And all these things are FREE

Stayed here for a special occasion - Stonycreek Rendezvous in May 2023. The park had great accommodations for the festival, and you can’t beat the white water and the views of the river! Looking forward to coming back!

Such a cool local gem. With the improved water quality in the Stonycreek this place is going to continue growing. Conservation and whitewater releases from the Quemahoning make it possible to score great whitewater on a schedule. The developing upstream tailwater fishery will further enhance recreational opportunities. Check out Benscreek Canoe Club for more details. Great greenspace. Good parking. Nice restrooms. Close to a local watering hole with good eats. Trek upstream for some recreational paddling and hiking at Quemahoning Lake.

Nice place to visit. I just moved to johnstown and this is the first place i found. i took my kids and i loved it. They have a nice little kids playground and a picnic area also.

Been coming here since I was a child. Things have changed but I feel it's for the better. The turf is great. Field conditions are always outstanding. Seating is pretty conventional. Pricing was good for a youth football game. 3 for adults. Given 4 stars because of the lack of parking availability. Always a pain trying to find where I can and can't park as everything is private or pay to park. Eventually parked at a car dealership across the street.

There's a lot of history at this stadium. I'm always down for learning new things. They have a great field.

These are just a few photos from Johnstown, P.A. Asiagos is a resteraunt that sits on the top of a mountain. The views of the town below are amazing and the prices are VERY reasonable! If you visit this area, the "Flood Museum" is a must see. The admission is $9.00 per adult. There is a charge to take the lift up the mountain to the resteraunt as well. I believe its $5 per adult and $2 per child. This is an excellent day trip destination.

The kids love playing at the point. It definitely is not the most updated or best stadium out there, but it is a Johnstown landmark.

The baseball game with the Mill Rats was good.. however eat before you get to the stadium. Haven't found anything good let alone worth the price. Even the popcorn was maybe a cup and a half for 3 bucks. And my pretzel had no salt.. soda tasted like soda so its fine.

Love this old ball park. It has such an old ballpark look and feel. There is so much history to this place.

This stadium is a total charmer! The way it’s situated, the whole city looks great, trains passing, easy access, even the bathrooms are nice and clean. Lots of good people, two fun bars across the street, and seats over the river! There’s a ton of interesting and unique history right in the area and it’s just a delightful setting to catch a cheap game. The sunsets up the gap, the great baseball announcer, and the view of the incline- it’s just a special spot and any sports fan would love this place! Needs a bike rack but otherwise it is a home run :)

A unique history lesson! We took a Christmas Lantern Tour! The Ephrata Cloister is open throughout the year. The guide recommended the group tour when you come to visit. The buildings have steps and low ceilings in doorways thru the buildings. You will find restrooms at the visitor center. The parking lot will accommodate small tours. The lantern tour gives you a overall history experience! The Ephrata Cloister dates back to 1732. A German community living a simple life. They spent time writing music and drawings. The buildings consist of kitchens, workrooms, bedrooms, and the meeting house. Go back in time for this Unique experience. They have a gift and book store if you want to learn more! The community believed it would take a lot of work and discipline to be ready to meet God.

The last time I visited Ephrata Cloister was as a child over 40 years ago, and while the place hasn't drastically changed, the depth of interpretation and skill level of the guide has grown significantly. Although you can visit the grounds and certain buildings on your own, and although there are QR codes that you can scan to get some information on what you're seeing, I strongly recommend doing the guided tour. There is no difference in price between self guided and docent guided, too. In a way, this community could be considered cult-like, but the story is both fascinating and worthwhile nonetheless. And, the level of preservation is truly admirable. Recommended!

Just went on the lantern tour and really enjoyed it! It is more like a play being acted out than a tour of the facilities. You walk through several of the buildings, but they don't talk about the buildings too much or the articles in the buildings. They are telling a story and you get a sense of what life was life in the mid 1700s. Walking around with the lanterns is very fun. It is fairly well lit, so there isn't much worry about tripping. The biggest hazard is banging your head on the low doorways 😀. Definitely worth the visit for a unique experience!

What a lovely place to snap some great photos on our wedding morning! We got permission to take outdoor photos here with a charge of $75. The grass was neatly trimmed and the buildings were in excellent condition.🏡

We had a wonderful visit and did a self-guided tour. The pamphlet and signs were full of information. Beautiful place with a lot of history, really impressively preserved.

I love this place. There is so much to glean from the area and the people are so nice especially Susan. The museum is wonderful learning about the Ancient of ways. It is truly anointed. One of the oldest printing press.

My husband and I went here on our honeymoon and it was the best tour we’ve had while in Lancaster County. Sandra our tour guide was knowledgeable and kind. The religious history, German architecture, and open grounds were so enjoyable! The gift shop was the best we have ever been to! What a treasure!

My husband and I visited on Saturday, June 10th. It was not busy. The rich history of this area is fascinating. Doug, our tour guide was very knowledgeable. I recommend the guided tour. It is well worth the time. Visit the museum inside the visitor center first to give you an idea of what life was like there. Wear good walking shoes. I don't recommend this for young children.

The experience at the Ephrata Cloister was exceptional! The museum was full of artifacts from the Ephrata Cloister, especially the frakturschriften. The tour was lovely, given by a lovely tour guide, and helped us to understand the social and economic dynamics of the small community. I also attended the concert given by the choir of Ephrata Cloister, and the music captivated me. The guides also answered all my questions and was pleased to know more about a hidden national, if not world, landmark!

Neat historic site about a religious community that sought religious freedom in Ephrata, PA, with unique buildings dating back to the 1700s. Video, guided tour, and displays do a good job of exploring the motivations and experiences of the community here.

This was such a cool stop. We took the guided tour and seriously learned so much, but walking through the architecture was the best part. Our tour guide was quite knowledgeable about more than just the cloister itself; he gave us so much information on Pennsylvania. There was plenty to keep kids occupied too with a scavenger hunt that earned them a nice iron on badge at the end. There was a video that kicked off the tour and plenty of original artifacts to check out in the museum. We also took a walk through the surprisingly fair-priced gift shop which carries books, toys, ink and quills, replica musket ammo, wooden pieces, and much more. The Cloister Restaurant is directly across the street, which I also recommend, and the Ephrata park is a short distance up the road to make this an all day trip. Overall, the staff were friendly and helpful and this was a cheap admission. No regrets here. Thanks for a fun day!

Beautiful waterfall! Fairly easy to get to, but I do recommend 4-wheel drive in the winter time. Walk to the falls is very easy and only a few feet from the parking area. Waterfall is so peaceful!

Awesome little hike and falls to cool off in and adventure through! Nice cold mountain water! Dog friendly. Loved the scenic drive out there as well. Very close to Blue Hole swimming spot. Lots of fungus and other things to discover.

Easy walk to see the top of the falls. For those who can navigate the large rocks going down to the falls, you'll get beautiful pictures!!! Nice area, very quiet, nice trail to walk on. Wear good walking shoes/boots and it will help if you have hiking poles.

Easy to get to. The top of the main falls is about 50 yards from the parking lot which is on Cole Run Road in Forbes State Forest. It doesn't seem to get much visitation. The main falls has about a 12 to 15 foot drop. It steps down again at an angle with a smaller 3 foot drop waterfall. The best time to go is after a heavy rain in. In mid July the Rhododendrons around it are in bloom.

Simply gorgeous. Just a very short hike from the parking area.

Waterfall is close to the parking area. This fall is way better after a fresh rain. The trail is kinda had to see or find if walking from the falls, also a steep incline if starting at the falls.

Definitely enjoyed our hike on this one. Great views to see and explore.
