The view over Negombo beach is wonderful. It is a wide beach, brown, used by tourists and locals alike. Evening walks along the beach were so peaceful. Beach is well cleaned. The sunset over the sea from Negombo beach is well worth seeing. When I visit, it was not crowded. Be careful and enjoy. And also don't pollute the beach please protect it.

It is really lovely around 6:15am (sunrise time) and around 6:00pm (sunset). Did some exercise in the morning, only few people and tranquillity. sunset times is busy but good for walks… Big waves in March and not for swimming! P.S. please do not leave garbage on the beach.

This is an ecstatic beach to enjoy the sunset in the evening. There is a parking fee for vehicles, but if you just walk, the entrance is totally free. The beach is wide and has ample space. You will find a lot of sellers selling Isso wade. It easily becomes crowded on evenings, specially during weekends.

Extremely hot during the day. Many crowds making crazy noise along the beach and many seller tried to talk to me to sell their stuff. Nothing much interesting, the beach look just OK. It was quite busy when we visited. It’s a pretty long beach where you can just sit around, play sports including water sports, but I wouldn’t recommend swimming here since the waves were very strong. Too many people selling stuff while you’re sitting there, couldn’t really relax. Even so, you should definitely spend time watching the sunset, it’s worth it!

All that trash goes to the sea :/ The local said that next year there will be a beautiful, clean beach because the storm will clean it up. Great approach, in such a situation they will always be so dirty here.

Nice Beach to have a relax time solo or with family and friends. near by good restaurants and hotels for foods and some shopping places as well. famous for Airport Transit area and hotels.

The best place to relax, but it is full of crowds on weekends and holidays. Best time is 4pm-7pm otherwise it is so hot there. You can expect more traffic at the entrance of the beach area; it is too narrow. There are parking lots available inside the beach area that will charge around Rs50. The place has rubbish everywhere, which ruins the beauty of the place. Please take your garbage with you when you leave. It is safe to have a bath in the sea as there are lifeguards as well. You can find various seafood options everywhere, but some of them are not good to eat. They taste terrible (e.g., uludu wade, isso wade). I do not recommend any food inside the place as they are too oily and not fresh. Take your food outside, where you can enjoy it, but please do not leave your garbage there. Please be careful at night as there may be some individuals roaming around ("beach boys") who can behave strangely. If you are a couple, it's advisable to stay with other people to avoid any unwanted attention. However, I assure you that the beach is at its best during nighttime if those people are not present.

A wonderful place. Can be crowded depending on the month you visit. Very clean beach as it is well maintained. You can walk towards the beach for a long distance. If you are lucky to find a boat parked on sand , ( in sinhalese ඔරුකඳ ) you can Enjoy the sunset while sitting on it and gazing towards the horizon. Pets are not allowed on the beach. No restrictions to alcohol or tobacco.

Well I suppose I may be revealing my own puzzlement in this review of St Mary's Church. Yes I know that it is a landmark monument, that it is built in neoclassicism style, has columns and plain wall and ceilings painted with alabaster images of many saints. In fact many many saints. So far so good and there are thousands of churches like it around the world. It is however a bit at odds with the traditional religions here. But really I still have never got over the fountain and I still don't know why anyone would have built it. But there you go right in the front is this fountain depicting the Holy Mother and Child, and is believed by locals to have healing - I would like some evidence for the latter. But well worth a visit.

"Muthurajawela Visitor Centre" 🚤!! The trip was great !! Nature lovers are highly recommended to come here. All that is needed to be done is to be safe and keep a sharp eye for the animals around you, from the small River King-Fisher to the huge 7 foot long Water Monitor. This trip had more than enough exotic wild life to go around and trying to spot them and to take a picture of them was the fun part, because if you blink, you would miss a bird or a croc 😮..

Amazing experience, oir forst encounter with the wildlife in sri lanka. We were not sure how to ride a boat on this canal so we went to mathurajawela visitor center. We waited a little bit and the guide from the center helped us. The ticket on site is cheaper than the one mentioned on maps. Around 4000 srilankan rupees. We enjoyed these 2 hours of abondonant wildlife of birds and water fish and monkeys. Come early to enjoy as its best.

A great excursion for locals and tourists to see mostly bird life and water monitors. Boats are covered and can offer shelter from sun and rain. Go early to make sure you see the early birds. The ride goes along the historic Dutch Canal all the way to the Negombo Lagoon. You will enjoy if you love nature.

A really nice and calm place. I randomly found this on the map. They do boat tours at the Lagoon starting from the Visitor Center, around 2-hour tours, I was told by neighbors. Unfortunately, I came on a Sunday and it was closed. I was told that on a Sundays they do not operate tours. Isn't especially Sunday the day when families go out and want to enjoy these kinds of activities?!- Anyways, I will be back on another day as I really would like to learn more about the wetlands/lagoon around Bopitiya-Negombo.

A hidden gem. It’s hard to imagine that so close to Colombo and Negombo you can find a place that is so serene. The guide was knowledgeable and it was nice that there was a covered boat option. Highly recommend for a day or evening out.

It was a wonderful experience with family. Before the boat ride the lady at the office gives a very educational briefing about the history and background of the canal. The officer came with us as the tour guide was very knowledgeable and showed us many birds and animals and other interesting facts in and around the Negombo lagoon. A well spent 1 1/2 to 2hrs learning about the biodiversity. This was a good family outing important for children to understand the importance of nature. Best if a booking can be arranged in the morning hours so that you can see many things in a good whether condition. Ride is safe and comfortable. Have parking also at the location.

The main temple (where you enter through the mouth of the animal) has an astonishing number of sculptures, fresco's and statues. Honestly, some of them are so life like that I started getting a bit creeped out at the images of the demons. Thank god my wife was there with me. There is officially no entry fee but unofficially, the man in charge of the place, will insist that you pay him at least Rs 300-400 if you are a foreigner. The entire please is neat and clean, like most Buddhist monasteries and temples I have seen in Sri Lanka.

Largest and most beautiful Buddhist temple in Negombo town. There are many beautiful Buddhist statues and artworks inside the temple. It situated a bit away from the urban area but walking distance from the town. It's worth visiting this place since there were not many landmarks around the negomb to travel with.

Angurukaramulla Temple is known for the dragon-head that guards its entrance and its six-metre-tall statue of Lord Buddha. To enter, visitors walk through the maw of the dragon, who is said to ward evil spirits away from the temple and its devotees.

The place is good but the people working there are money minded. I was asked to pay Rs1000 to visit inside and when I said its free entry for all and refused to pay. He denied to allow me inside and had to walk back just visiting outside area.

The entrance is free but they will ask you to buy a brochure for 1k before entering the place. It is worth the visit, it is beautiful. However, no one takes care of it at all: spider webs and dust are everywhere. Such a shame to ask money to take care for this place and not even wipe the dust.

If you are not Buddhists don’t visit this temple. it’s only small temples and the main one you can’t visit because they try to sale you “fake ticket”. You will spend 10mins in tuktuk from negombo beach, And you will finish your temples area and take pics in 10mins maximum. And when you walking you will feel you are not welcome.

Beautiful place you will find fresh and dried fish

One of the best fish market near colombo. You can buy fresh fish for comparably cheaper prices. Better to go during the morning session. Also, you can explore nearby fish drying areas. It is sad to see how hard they fight to live with minimum facilities.

Its a good experience altogether. A good time to go there is probably early in the morning. We went after 9 and could already see that most of the fish was already sold out. Not that we wanted to buy, but could have got a good bargain. But the best part was just besides the fish market is the ghetto of the fisher folks and you will see their boats lined up and just cleaning out the nets of the little fish after the big catch. You can see them cut and put to dry thousands of fish right on the beach.

Interesting experience wandering the fish market & watching the locals going about their daily business & shopping. Lots of different fish available along with other seafood items. Can be a challenge for some - no refrigeration or ice, smell, some of the offerings & the uneven wet concrete paths (some said shoes better than thongs). Also able to see the large drying/salted fish being processed. So many fish - hopefully not overfished. An interesting experience.

I enjoyed seeing the dry fish market on this scale and was a worthwhile pitstop as a tourist. There was also small fresh food markets on the side of the road if you needed refreshment.

Special experience! Very smelly place. It is good way to meet locals and try some dry fish. They are trying to sell fresh fish, but all they do not sell - all that fish is going for sunny dry for a week or two. Very friendly fishermans. There are lot of birds and dogs walking around :)

This is a historic place in Sri Lanka that you can visit at any time of the day. You can park there, and you don't need to buy any tickets; if there are any tickets being sold, it's a scam. However, nowadays, the place appears to be abandoned, with no proper maintenance. You can approach the monument and explore the surrounding area. Nearby, there is a prison. If you have an interest in historical sites, this is a must-visit place.

My first Spot I visited yesterday on the 16th April 2023 here in Sri Lanka is a gate through towards Correction Centre

Interesting place, because behind the tower there is a tennis school and Negombo prison. A narrow patway leads up to the top, worth to climb. There is wellkept dutch parish too. Be aware, there is guy who starts to tell you some historic facts and asks you for name and nationality to "record" you as a tourist and then asks for money. If yo there with a bicycle, scooter or tuktuk, he gives you a "parking number" and asks for money again. Don't take the number and don't talk to him.

The ruins of the Negombo Dutch Fort lies 30km north of Colombo, Sri Lanka. Built originally in the early 1500's by Portuguese invaders using lime stone and coral from nearby ocean it was captured by Dutch invaders in 1640 and rebuilt by them in 1672. In 1796, was overtaken by the British invaders and in the 1800's they demolished the Fort and built a prison on the premises that stands todate. A recessed arched gateway, an ancient bellfry and parts of the rampart still exists and is protected by the government as a historical monument. For the ardent history lover a must-visit !

Careful, tourist scam! Some guy came up and wanted to charge us after we looked at the fort. Just go away if this happens. For those who just came to Sri Lanka: There's always a counter if it is anything official, and you pay before entering, not afterwards. Fort itself is one arch and one clock tower, done in 2min.

We checked the place through Google and got to know it's in Negambo. Thought we could get in to the fort building, but actually when we get in to the location it's no more; the place is now authorised by the government officials, which is a prison now. We could only enter the entrance area.

Not much to see here, as the fort serves as a prison now. You can view the towers by climbing the small hill at the entrance. ⚠️Beware of the scammer, who will first encourage you to see the tower, and as you descend will demand payment of 2500LKR. You should simply ignore him and not give any money.

I would 100% recommend the cask draw experience - delicious 18 year old cask strength whiskey in a lovely aromatic environment. Katie was a charming and informative host. The splosh and gurgle of the distillers dog was a delight. I don't think I'd recommend the tour however. Our guide was great but it all felt a bit rushed and there wasn't enough time to linger and it all felt a bit constructed. It didn't feel that deep or engaging despite our guides best efforts. The whiskey tasting section was nice but the selection felt geared towards shifting product rather than a really distinctive tasting experience. I'm a whiskey enthusiast not an expert but there wasn't enough contrast between the whiskeys being tasted. You could buy the whiskeys as you exit through the gift shop though... You do get a good couple of drams for your ticket fee so there's good value in that. On balance though I'd recommend you get the cask draw for €10, buy a drink in the bar and go to the Guinness storehouse for the afternoon and enjoy the sunset in the gravity bar.

Great experience. Lots of people but really well managed with small group guided tours provided. Hats off to you guys at Jameson’s. Our guide Leah S was really brilliant; informative and entertaining as well as friendly and polite, making it a really worth while visit, highly recommended. Not too hard sell, just really interesting and enjoyable experience. Lots of credit was given to all the workers over the years who have made this such a success as reflected in the company logo of a man (labourer) with a barrel on his back. This is a ‘must see’ experience.

Made reservations for a Monday evening Cocktail Class. Loved the distillery and bar area - great vibes and decor! Enjoyed our cocktail class and even had a few more at the bar area after. We did visit the gift shop and were hoping/expecting it to have many more items, but it was quite small. Would recommend signing up for one of their activities if you appreciate whsikey!

We did the Jameson Distillery Tour and had an amazing experience. It lasted about an hour, and our tour guide Sean was hilarious! He went through the entire distilling process in detail and made it interesting. And the best part - WHISKEY! I highly recommend the orange "water of life" 😉 I don't want to spoil the tour so check it out for yourself, it's worth it! And something you absolutely need to see when visiting Dublin

This was a quick walk from center city & also the Guinness Storehouse, and is in a quaint area. We did the 45 minute tour with Alex and she was INCREDIBLE! So fun, knowledgeable, and engaging. The bar is also a great, warm spot to relax at the end. We would definitely come back.

Visited in 2022. This is a must if you are a fan of Jameson. The atmosphere is great as soon as you walk in. Cool bar right when you enter where they have very good cocktails. Their gift shop is great, lots of cool items that will make great gifts. They even have a few bottles that are exclusive to the Guinness store that you can personalize with your name on the label. We did the tour and the guide was amazing! He was so good at keeping everyone engaged and the content of the tour was really entertaining. We paid extra to taste from a cask that they tap open in front of you. This is something they do not bottle for sale. Overall, highly recommend it! P.S. I heard from a local in Dublin that he had gone on a tour awhile back and it wasn’t good but they had updated the tour a few years back and he had gone back as well and was much better. So if you had gone awhile ago and was disappointed, try again! Book ahead of time!

I did the Standard Bow Street Experience your which includes a drink on arrival to take with you on the 40+ min tour, learning about the history of Jameson, how the famous whiskey is made and whiskey taste testing. Molly our guide was very nice and informative. Really enjoyed it. Definitely recommend it.

A really great Irish whiskey tour in Dublin! We enjoyed the “basic” one hour program with an introduction to the drink distillation of Irish whiskey, the history of Jameson, and the taste testing of 3 different whiskeys. We were greeted with a welcome drink, and then our guide led us through the rest! Our experience was very good, and we learned a lot about the local whiskeys and how they are different. At the end, we walked through the gift shop and perused all of the different items available as well as the different whiskeys for sale. I would definitely recommend this experience for anyone that is a whiskey fan, or even not a whiskey fan, and we will recommend it to others!

The Bow St Experience tour is well organized. Tour guide was nice, tried to engage as much as she could and entertained us. Comparative tasting was good and fun. At the end you get a voucher for a drink. I would 100% recommend ginger&lime cocktail even if you prefer neat whiskey. What made this a 5 star review was a cask draw experience in their live maturation warehouse in the building. We had an absolute craic there with tour guide Niall (kudos!) who just shinned with the love for whiskey. He was very insightful with tonnes of knowledge. Niall made cask draw experience worth every penny.

Not a fan of whiskey until today! The explanation how to taste made so much sense that you can actually really learn to enjoy it. Our tour guide was funny and explained everything very passionately. In total 4 drinks , one in the ticket you can trade in the begging or end of the tour and 3 more samples in the end of the tour. Used my Go City pass to visit this museum.

I visited 3 whiskey distilleries in Ireland and Jameson had the best experience of any of them, and was one of my favorite things we did in Dublin. The tour was very well put together (and Nial was an excellent guide). The add on cask draw was also cool. The bar there was also really good. In addition to their normal cocktail menu they had a whole old fashioned menu, we tried 3 of them and all were delicious. I would also recommend the bottle your own black barrel option to any whiskey fans.

We did the standard tour and cask draw add-on here and had a great time. Our tour guide, Erin, made it though. She was super awesome and kept us all laughing throughout. I really enjoyed at the beginning she had us all say where we were from and kept engaging with all of us so it didn’t feel like a normal run of the mill tour. While you don’t see the inner working of a factory, I felt like I did learn a lot. The cask draw was totally worth it in my opinion. They bring you inside a room that is full of whisky barrels and pull it straight up from one of them for you to try. The taste was so different than the bottled versions with it being extra burning and warmed your chest, very cool.

This experience surprised me in a positive way and surpassed my expectations. I am not a Jameson drinker but I really enjoyed the way they do the tour. Plenty of tasting and they make you feel welcomed. Our guide was great. He was informative , knowledgeable, lighthearted, and entertaining. Would recommend 10/10

Fantastic tour and experience for any Whisky fan or even those new to the drink - the whole experience was very enjoyable and our tour guide was welcoming, knowledgable and very friendly. You are out into timed groups and have a history lesson of Guinness, details on the manufacturing process and then finally a Jameson taste off vs Scottish Whisky and American Bourbon. Once finishing you are free to go to the bar and redeem your drink which are great! We definitely spent a while at the bar trying different drinks on the menu (would highly recommend the Irish coffee) All in all a very worthwhile experience - options are also available should you wish to do extended tours or private events (which looking back would’ve been great to do the cask tasting session)

We loved this tour. It was interactive, engaging and informative. We did the Guinness tour as well and found that one to be a bit of a money grab as it was primarily self guided. I’m not a whiskey drinker and enjoyed this tour anyway. A lot of pride from the folks who are employed by Jameson. You can tell it’s a well managed organization and they must treat their people well as everyone was passionate about their job and pleasant to ask questions to. The tour and tasting were well thought out. It exceeded my expectations. I would do it again next time I return.

Our tour guide was amazing. She gave us the history of Jameson in a fun and informative way. It was great to hear the Bourbon barrels of Kentucky contribute to the flavor of certain Jameson whiskeys. We fell in love with this place and enjoyed their new Orange Whiskey. My GF who was not a whiskey drinker now makes Ginger and Jameson a regular on her order menu. We purchased some personalized whiskey for my daughter and now son-in-law along with making our own bottle of whiskey was a great experience. 5 stars all day and a must when you visit Dublin

you must come here and do a tour if you're in dublin! we had an amazing tour guide (ronnie) who made the experience so good. the history and process of making the whiskey was absolutely fascinating and we loved every minute. you get to sample 3 whiskies before getting your grog (free drink) at the end of your visit. The gift shop is big with a lot of items such as hoodies, t-shirts, hats, posters etc. cant recommend enough!

Had the most amazing time at the Jameson cocktail making class! Loved the atmosphere, the mixologist Marco was fabulous - friendly, funny and knowledgeable! We learnt some really cool tips and tricks and of course enjoyed the whiskey! Highly recommended…

We did the general tasting tour. The place is amazing with an interesting history. We got to learn about how Jameson is made and got to try three different kinds of whiskey. The crested was the best of the three. The black barrel was also excellent. Great historical tour. We need to come back and take the classes. Make sure to check out the cat in the rafters.

My boyfriend and I went to Jameson's yesterday and we had a great great time, we're home visiting family and to celebrate St Paddy's day.... the staff were really great, we got to chat properly with Margaret, in the gift shop, really knowledgeable and friendly and of course our guide Leah was just fantastic.... another lovely girl in the gift shop who helped us with tax back, as he's from America, sorry I didn't get her name, we started with delicious old fashioned cocktails, 12€ each, then we did the 45 minute tour, we booked online 30€ each, it included a complimentary drink, choice of Jameson neat, or with lemonade or with ginger ale. You were able to bring this on the tour instead of rushing...... the tour itself included tasting of Jameson distillery blend, Crested Jameson and Black Barrel Jameson, it was a great experience and I will definitely go back and try one of the other tours another day..... well done Jameson x

We did the cocktail class it was really good fun. Our guide Paul brought us through how to make 3 cocktails 2 of which we made ourselves. The flavours, ingredients and whiskey choices were explained really well. After we had made our cocktails (about an hour) we went to a private area of the bar to enjoy them and they served our 3rd cocktail. We also got a book with loads of whiskey based cocktail recipes. We thought it was really good value for what you got €60 for a taster shot of whiskey, 3 cocktails (4 as there was extra of the last one!) and the cocktail book. I would definitely recommend the experience. Note though that as you are consuming a decent amount of alcohol on this experience they won't let you do the cask draw after doing this one!

Great experience, the basic tasting is a great deal, includes the post experience drink and a nice variety of cocktail options at the end. We went in the slow season, during winter and it was really quiet which made it even better. Took our time and only had a handful of people in our tasting. Loved learning the history, it's not as extravagant as say Guinness, but it's much more educational and interesting.

I visited Jameson for the first time in 2014 and the experience improved even more. The interactive presentation and the knowledge given to us by the Guide make this experience a must-do in Dublin. The tests are fantastic and the atmosphere is fantastic. The staff was always very helpful and cheerful. We ended up buying two Jameson references that don't exist in our country. Fantastic! I highly recommend this experience!

We came here and did the Bow St Experience followed by the Cask Draw which were two incredible experiences. The tour was fantastic (Alex was our tour guide and she was incredibly fun and informative) and the Cask Draw was such a unique experience where we got to try a 21 year whiskey straight from the barrel. Niall talked us through that process and gave us so much information about the whiskey. The experience is immeasurably better than the Guinness Storehouse and is very interactive, a must visit in Dublin!

An absolute must for whiskey connoisseurs and amateurs alike. We took the Jameson Black Barrel Blending Class and we won’t soon forget this experience. I wanted to do something memorable and interactive, the inclusion of alcohol was a plus. This Class included a very informative tour of the Bow Street Jameson location and an overview about the Jameson whiskey making process. I felt like I was watching a documentary full of detailed information and a lot of Irish charm. Our group was made up of only 5 people making for a personal and intimate experience. Based on ticket availability online it looks like this class would only ever have a maximum of 14 people making it a nice departure from larger tours offered in Dublin. Our guide/Jameson Whiskey Expert was very engaging and kept things light. As part of this class you’re able to blend and of course try, various Jameson whiskeys and learn all about what goes into the Jameson process. I won’t spoil anything but this is something that you must do if you find yourself in Dublin for any length of time. Additionally, I would recommend the engrave-able Jameson flask from the Bow Street Market. The flask itself is 25 euro and for only 5 additional euro you can get it engraved with up to 20 characters including spaces. This is an amazing souvenir and my husband is already excited to fill his up with Jameson.

The Bow Street Experience tour is very interesting split into three parts covering the history of the brand and the factory, the production process and finally a guided tasting. After the tour you have a token for a free drink in the main Grog Bar. Which is itself a very nice bar... Look up at the chandeliers. Our guide Joe was very engaging. Nice gift shop too.

Cocktail making class! Great if not the best option to choose from the different activities. Worth booking in advance as there’s not always availability. Good fun with great atmosphere! Reduced groups of max 16 people, the activity allows you to make 2 cocktails from scratch with guidance from an expert cocktail maker. Starting with a whiskey tasting the class followed with the details, ingredients and instructions of two different cocktails (changing depending on the season) and ends the session with a third drink on a private area of the distillery prepared by the instructor. Great option for any occasion from a family event to a friend gathering. Price per person at the time of visit was 60€. Further details can be found on the official site website.

Visited during Colombo transit while coming from Beijing to Karachi in 2017. Thanks to our guide who showed us all beautiful and historic places of Negambo. I was happy to visit Jamia Mosque, Church and Historic Temple. Negambo is a best example showing religious harmony and respect among people.

Visiting St Sebastian church a month after the deadly attacks. The place is culm and there is heavy military presence in every street corner. Making the place feels more safe.
