Amazing museum! The permanent exhibition features a lot of animals of all kinds which on its own is worth the visit already. The rest of the exhibition is great too, especially if you like old weapons and armour, musical instruments and funerals arts.

Beautiful gardens and building. The English guide was well work getting, as it had very interesting commentaries that added to the items in the exhibits. There was lots to see all separated nicely into different rooms so it didn’t seem overwhelming.

One of the best museum in Taiwan, yep Taiwan (not Tainan). Amazingly, it is privately owned (not owned by government). Beside the museum itself, the outside area is very big. You can take a graduation shot or bring your own lunchbox to camp there. I really suggest and recommend you to come here if you visit Tainan

台南奇美博物館！I’m so happy this museum is open in Tainan and I can ride the bus here in 30 minutes from home. It is free for me who is Tainan residents. The outdoor area is much bigger than the indoor space and it is very comfortable to walk in the morning when it’s not sunny. The museum is very new and clean. They even have kids area like arts and crafts class. Great place for families and friends! Don’t miss this one if you’re in Tainan. Starbucks and family mart on site.

Chimei Museum is a fantastic place to visit. With its diverse exhibition halls and a wide array of fascinating artifacts, it's sure to captivate you for hours. You can even take some beautiful photos if you're in a hurry, but be prepared for some sun exposure.

Although I've visited on weekend, there's no long queue. Ticket can purchase upon entering the museum. A museum with lots of exhibitions during Renaissance period. But unfortunately, not all of them can keep on your gallery because taking photos are prohibited on most of the area. Really impressive. It's easily accessible from Tainan HSR. Just take bus H31 from Exit 2 just look at its timetable to avoid any delay and it's free of charge.

Incredible display of historical items. The founder has truly shared an astounding collection of worldwide history! Artwork from all around the world, musical instruments, weaponry, and so much more. The museum itself is an amazing building with such beautiful architecture and engineering. For the price, this is one of the best value for money places I've found in Taiwan so far. You could spend a whole day there and still not see anything. Having said that, I would recommend at least 4-6 hours to enjoy the majority of it. Must go!

Beautiful place mimicking European style architecture, the collections are impressive between the animals similar to the gallery of evolution in Paris and the Armors and weapons exhibition, there is a lot to be seen. The gardens offer a really nice for hangout and picnic.

Chimei is a beautiful museum which looks like it belongs in Washington, DC or somewhere in the outskirts of London from the standpoint of architectural style. With its setting in a large, gentile, landscaped park it is truly a grand facility. I spent most of my time viewing the extensive collection of rare stringed instruments, many of which are contained in its vault..not available to the public, but many more of which are on exhibit. The museum loans many of its instruments to prominent or promising Taiwanese musicians, greatly enhancing the country’s offerings in classical music performances. There is an Starbucks and a Seven Eleven housed within the museum, as well as an English tea room and an elaborate Italian restaurant offering pizzas and pastas.

Must visit place in Tainan. European architecture with a beautiful lake and parks. It has a museum inside and which is divided into five phases. Two seven eleven, Starbucks, and other shops are on the campus. Staffs are cooperative and professional. The nearest train station is Baon, distance between baon and the park is 1km and baon is the next station to Tainan. Advise-carry some bedsheets for sitting near the lake in the park. Must watch the sunset!

One of my favorite museums. The art collection is impressive. Its huge so be ready to walk and stand all day. The eating area is quite small so we had to wait for a table to become available. There are lockers for only 10ntd. The souvenir shop is also nice.

The garden is so beautiful, walkable and very cozy here. It's a good place to relax, the architecture looks like old Greece and the location is just near the Bao An train station. Make sure to use sunscreen and bring an umbrella, it's really hot in summer.

We spent a whole day just visit all the halls and checked out all the collections. We're amazed a private museum can have such a huge quantity and high quality collections. This museum is a combination of smaller version of the Metropolitan Museum plus the American Museum of Nature History in NYC! The collections of instruments are awesome!!! Very nice museum and a good place to see the old artefacts especially the music instruments. There is also a section for creativity where you can draw anything based on your imagination. Good place to bring kids and let them explore their creativity.

I went to Chimei Museum on Sunday, it was very crowded but it doesn't take long to buy tickets there. I really enjoyed the arts in the museum. I was speechless. The art was really an amazing work to see! I really recommend you guys to come here when you visit Tainan!!! I'm sure you will love it~

Amazing place, huge park ,lakes , ducks, fishes, and lots statue, and really extensive and relaxing . The collections are incredible, lots of masterpieces , from fine arts to weapons and specimens.

TWD 50 entrance fee which is very reasonable to keep the place spotless clean. The whole compound was quite and peaceful (because we went during weekdays) it’s a perfect place to walk around slowly and enjoy the small details until your heart content!

Very pretty at night as it is illuminated. It's a quick visit,. There are a few signs explaining the story of the tower, and a model of what it was supposed to look like. It's 70 dollars to get in. Don't expect much other than a pleasant walk around and up.

A delightful evening visit to this Tower built during the Dutch era, this historic site is aptly illuminated and well restored. In the building there are also artefacts from various corresponding eras from the time of the Qing dynasty n the Dutch rule. Brief anecdotes in both mandarin n some English are available for an interesting read. The tower overlooks the city n is a reminder of its rich cultural past. There are interesting nooks n crannies and a wonderful view of past architecture n engineering. The main building has also a large pond with many Koi fish which adds an almost zen like ambience for an twilight or evening visit. Cost of entry is negligible n the surrounding district has many eateries n food outlets to accommodate a nice dinner after a visit. A most memorable visit n highly recommended for those who wish to see the Tainan of old 👍 Parking is easily available at a large lot just next to this Tower for those who are driving. This place is one of the must-sees in Tainan. It's located an a good area where is easy even to walk from downtown or from the main train station. Around is a lot of local food and drinks that you should try. Definitely, you won't regret this experience. Thank you 🤩

Best to visit after the restoration work is completed. For a 70nt ticket, the Anping Fort has much more to offer. The main building is closed. Most explanation is in Chinese. The English explanation is hardly enough to showcase the significance of this place.

An interesting place but unfortunately due to some reparations... The visit is limited to one building (The temple), and you paid the full price. Didn't see any information to let us know that everything was close, except the temple. So it's a bit frustrating. My advise: wait that the reparations are done in order to have access to all the buildings.

Not a long visit (30min or less), but worth a stop if you are nearby. One of the two buildings appears to be under restoration, so that limited our visit. I would have given this a 3/5, but the little water features, and koi pulled it up to a 4. Just a tremendous amount of fish and wildlife to be found in this little tiny space. The ponds and grounds appear very well maintained. The one building that is accessible is a older style temple, but still just a building. Not a huge amount of contents to view, and if you had been to Anping Old Fort you will have seen a lot of the same ideas (Old Dutch fort). We stopped in here to check it out and just spent some time relaxing after walking quite a bit that day.

Historical building from the Dutch occupation of Taiwan. Nearly 400 years old. Interesting site but not well curated. Half of it was also closed for restoration. Could be a real gem, but missing a bit that makes it special.

Great place to visit for some local arts and crafts. Found some truly delightful items. There is a restaurant upstairs that has great food (curry) and shaved ice to combat the heat. If you like dhopping for unique gift items about Taiwan or Tainan you should not miss this place!

This department store is one of a kind. It is an old and historical building, probably from the 1930s and 40s when Japan still occupied Taiwan. And it was restored and decorated as if it were back then. So there are many antique like artifacts, like old TV sets, old elevators with indicator dials, old school sofas, record players etc. So as soon as you enter this department store, you feel like being transported back in time. Better yet, they sell many of the older souvenirs from back in time, such as antique, arts and crafts. Although it is now a nostalgic display, back then this department store is one of the biggest and the most innovative, as it's the first department store with a modern elevator, which is a novelty to many Taiwanese back then.

Very cool old-world Japanese department store that’s stood on this site through World War Two and still shows bullet holes and signs of the war. Very cool hand crafted items and a very cool vibe. Totally worth a visit with great views from the roof and even its own Shinto shrine.

An interesting place! Liked so much that we came back repeatedly to check out the store over and over again. it is full of hand crafted handicrafts and artifacts. I took the opportunity to read up on the rich history of the building as well . There is a café at the top of the building for us to rest our tired legs as well.

Very unique place selling very unique artisan goods. It’s called a departmental stall but not one that you expect. It’s a rebranded,rejuvenated old building fully air conditioned. A mixed of old and new. You can find all kinds of artistic souvenirs and local delights in this building. Very nice cafe at the very top floor.

Many people come here to just take photos because you are literally transported to the good old Shanghai days with a nostalgia feel. Nice place to snap some nice photos for memories but generally the prices of items here are on the steep side. But they do feature unique stuff here though. Worth a visit.

Interesting building that I chanced upon while making my way downtown. Great 5 storey department store that sells a variety of indie stuff as well as Tainan delicacies. As it's name suggests, there are some Japanese roots to this place and that Shinto shrine is actually built at the top of the building and provides spectacular views of the buildings around.

This was actually my favourite place in Tainan (and I loved so many things in Tainan)! It's clearly targeted at tourists and the gifts aren't cheap... but I felt the price is justified by the service and the ambience. It was so pretty and neat that I felt I walked onto the set of a Wes Anderson movie! There was also this amazing exhibition on the third floor called 'My Little Tainan' with these cute detailed miniatures of shops and homes - it was worth the visit for that alone

The store which was built in Japanese style during the Japanese era in the 1930s is really nicely conserved from in and outside. As soon as you step in you feel like stepping back in time. Nice conserved details from the well kept concrete/stone stairs with their brass edging or the toilet doors which look like still original. The sold products on every level are a wife range of Japanese or Taiwanese products from the higher quality range of design, art, Decoration, jewellery or clothing. If you're in Tainan I highly recommend a visit. Not to forget the shrine on the roof which can also be visited.

Good Department Store in Tainan. They sells various kinds of Japanese foods, goods, ranging from clothes, shoes, hats, cloth, key chains, knick-knacks. Basically, all of them are cute, but because this is Japanese goods, the price is a bit high, but it's worth it because of the fine quality. The 4th floor is very hot even though an additional portable air conditioner has been purchased. Hard to find parking near here, so you have to be extra patient turning around or looking for parking a bit far and walk there.

A very unique place littered with cute and unique souvenirs! The mall was built over 100 years ago, and inside this seemingly old building is a large and clean mall with many small shops. Good place to visit due to its historical significance, but not for shopping as the prices are exorbitantly high and the offerings are limited. Coffee shop at the top floor is nice place to hang out and the cheesecake is superb.

Some of the items are slightly on the expensive side. First floor sells mainly food related products such as noodles, sauces, spreads, and tea. Second floor onwards to sixth floor sells mainly crafts, bags and clothes. Great view on the 6th floor!

We walked here after tree house & route is lined with various street stalls that showed cause the uniqueness of Tainan street food… I think we enjoyed the street stalls as much as the fort. The guide in the fort museum did a fantastic job engaging the audience with his animated story telling that made history come alive. I was disappointed to find that the building on top of the fort is a souvenir stall. The climb up the tower is quite enjoyable but the view could be clearer if the windows used were better maintained.

This place is a great place for kids to look at. Over-all it's just a brick fort and probably not very exciting for most kids but it was a great place to take pictures with the kids. It's probably a place we would go only 1 time.

The fort and immediate area are well worth a visit. There is a tower that provides for good views, included in the price. The small middle house at the top of Fort is a shop selling sourvenir. They have a museum but under reconstruction (03/2023). Nice place to visit with some really good views on the city. There is also a cool little museum with some animations. Unfortunately it was only in chinese. The windows in the big tower are dirty - would be good to clean them once. (Or remove them)

The place is not big as per what I aspected. If you are not a historical person, you will feel a bit bored. The place doesn’t have a lot of things to see but I think you can join the tour, the tour guide will explain and tell quite a lot of historical story. For me, I think the shops around the compound and the temple is more interesting.

Important historical sight of both Dutch and Japanese occupation. We visited early April and the Mexican Frangipani were just starting to bloom, it was a very relaxing and enjoyable experience.

Great restoration & maintenance work to make this temple complex look authentic and in good conditions. There is a free access part and the paid admission to the main temple building. I see lotsa young people and children visiting and I had the good timing to hear from a lively and humorous guide who made history come alive.

Great place to visit esp if you have puppies to travel with. Can learn how Confucius made huge influences into Taiwanese culture and let your puppies running on the field just on the side. Wow. We just know its a first school in taiwan.and people pray there cause its a Con-Fu-Ci temples there. The environment is nice there. My wife and me learn something there. We like it.

The temple goes by a few names, - "Tainan Confucius Temple”, "Scholarly Temple" or “Taiwan's first school" depending on how you want to translate its Chinese name. It was built in 1666 and it was Taiwan's first Confucian temple. The design of the temple dignified and coloured red, signifying nobility, consisting of halls, pagodas, courtyards and gardens. Overall, it is quite I interesting visit to this historical place. Besides, there were lots of tasty foods and snacks around the area…

Tainan Confucius Temple is one of the best place to visit in Tainan for sure. There is a street full of traditional toys or food to try. Confucius Temple full of Taiwanese study and lecture atmosphere(I’m bad at describing this) I love the atmosphere anyway. Highly recommended to people that are visiting Taiwan Tainan. Good to go with friends and family for sure. And many amazing food around too. I’ll go visit again for sure!

The structure of buildings are well maintained. It is clean and you can feel the peaceful when you step in (maybe is not holiday season I guess?). The place is not a very big place as per what I aspected but the place is quite greenery and a lot of squirrels.

Gorgeous heritage building site with sections you can walk and explore for free as well as a paid section. The buildings are extremely well preserved and should definitely pay a visit if you're in Taiwan. There's also toilet on site which was very clean.

Worth visiting. This is another destination in Tainan where I think you should find a nice spot to sit and hit the wikipedia article and explore that a little bit. When we visited and only had some pamphlets to learn from it was less impressive. It doesn't really do justice to the rich history here. The buildings and their contents are still pretty interesting. The green spaces are well maintained and worthy of a lap. I do wish there were translations of the massive stone tablets all over the place.

The public space is peaceful on a weekday. They really should make it complimentary for descendants of Confucius to enter 😅

This is another historical place that everyone can see in Tainan. I recommend doing it. It's easy to access, there's a garden to walk around, and if you come on the weekend there's usually a famous fortune teller across the street who can tell more by looking at your hand for your future and past.. the tricky moment is that he is not speaking English. Only Mandarin.

This is a tranquil place with lots of green. There’s also a lot of squirrels running around when I was there. They seems to be friendly and came quite close to me. Apart from the squirrels there are also a lot of rats just outside the compound. But overall it’s a nice experience except for the weather.

Cool place! It’s an old sugar refinery that has been revamped into a small amusement park. It houses a drum factory and a drumming classes. I speak no Chinese, but still enjoyed it! There are drum performances before 3 pm. The place really lights up at night!

So many activities to do😍,.... Adventurous people will surely like this place... There's not a lot of place to eat and the price is a little bit pricey,,, but still a good place to take Pictures😁

We went during the week and were disappointed to find that almost everything was closed apart from the drum show and 2 cafes. This essentially meant that we paid 350Nt per person for a 40 minute drum show. Suggest you ask a Chinese friend to phone and check what’s actually open if you plan to go during the week. Otherwise go on the weekend. Management should consider a “drum show only” for times when the rest of the place is closed

Great place. Innovative, fun and with good vibes. Amazing effort has been put into to renovate the factory and all facilities. Good place to visit with kids.

The village is a great place for family and friends to learn more about the culture of Taiwan's drum troupe. Their base is made out if a old sugar factory and converted into their practicing venue. Had a wonderful drum performance to go along with It. Overall, best to go here to experience the culture .

Pretty old facilities and not very fun for my 7 and 2 year old. Entrance fee is much too high for what you get. We didn’t see the drum show, but hopefully it’s amazing to justify the price.

Awesome service. I’m impressed with their locker service. No matter the size of the locker, you deposit 10nt and collect it back at the end. The security guard reminded me to collect it back. Much of the museum is under redecoration but there were 3 halls open and one of the exhibition caught my interest. It’s a rather large place and plenty of sitting area. Nice place to learn a little more about the city’s history.

Architecture of the museum is very beautiful and holds a long history, accessible by walking and foreigners friendly. They provide museum guide in different languages and a wide range of merchandise in their museum store.

I’ve visited this museum twice, and enjoyed both visits. The building is huge but you can see all the exhibits in one hour, two hours at most. There is a permanent exhibition which expires the general history of Taiwanese literature until the modern day (the exhibit is in Chinese and English, as partially Japanese too) as well as a temporary exhibit about a special topic (once it was about the detective genre, another time about banned books). This temporary exhibition is generally only in Chinese, but as the staff is very obliging and polite, and some can speak English, I imagine you could ask for some help. The museum is peaceful, and has a large, cool seating area that is popular with local elderly people to just take a relaxing break from the city.

Great Museum with numerous exhibitions, which convey the information in modern ways with great attention to detail. Unfortunately, very little English descriptions, but still I got a lot of nice English explanations by the museum staff and other nice guests. I enjoyed my time here a lot.

Excellent free English audio tour gave understanding of Taiwanese literature and the influence of history, technology and economy on literature. There were many additional features that looked intriguing but I couldn’t access because of my language limitations. The curators were thoughtful in terms of framing the exhibit. The muse space is beautiful and the staff was helpful. Recommend a visit.

The permanent exhibits were very interesting. Exhibit C (banned books) does not have any English translations which was a bit disappointing, but the artifacts themselves and translating through the Mandarin myself was still quite educational. The exhibit on Modernism in Taiwan was neat; I enjoyed reading about the connections between some influential American authors and Taiwanese literature. There were some books in translation to English at the end of the exhibit, which I wish they sold at the gift shop. I'm also a big fan of the building restoration, they've done a great job preserving the site.

Really nice building with a good amount of knowledge inside. There were journals dating from the Japanese occupation of Taiwan, to the era of censorship before the 1990s. Upstairs there are literary works and stories from Taiwan’s Indigenous Peoples.

Such an awesome place, wonderful to read about the different histories of literature in Taiwan and appreciate the struggle that they’ve gone through for their cultural freedom. Wonderful study area, and amazing kids as well. Highly recommend if you’ve got kids if you want to learn about Taiwan, definitely recommend a trip to Tainan to visit.

Incredible exhibition of the literary history of Taiwan, and for a visitor so happy it was translated into English so I could get a much better understanding of this nation. And as an architect, I was so happy to see the revealed existing building components included in the exhibition.

A great place to know Taiwan history and literature. The exhibitions are informaive; the building is artistic, comfortable, modern and beautiful to me. Free admission. You can check out the audio guide machine. Definitely a must-come place if u want to know more about Taiwan literature and history.

Great venue to get a feel for the Tainan arts scene. Plenty of craft stalls selling everything from succulents to jewelry. However, try to avoid public holidays as the crowds make it much less desirable. One thing that really detracted from the experience was the lack of public restroom facilities. The toliet available has long lines and the hygiene was abhorrent.

Small place with interesting wall paintings, sculptures, house. souvenirs shop is amazing with cute and creative products. no parking lots. may spent 30mins.

So peaceful☺️☺️☺️ just relax walking and seeing masterpiece. Many accessories to buy and also food. The place is quiet and smoke free. You can bring your kids there to play.

Nice place to walk around and shops with Taiwanese local vendors, Don’t visit late cause most of the shops close early

Blueprint Cultural & Creative Park is a converted employee dormitory. It is close to SKM, and there are many attractions around. However it is on the side of the road, so the parking space is not easy to find. After about 2 p.m., many stands will sell some cultural and creative products, and many stores will sell some special goods. The park gives people a very leisurely feeling, similar to the Shen Ji New Village in Taichung. I stay here of about one hour. Nice place!

An ideal destination for exploration, where surprises await at every turn. The area is brimming with quaint spots, including charming restaurants and cozy cafes. As we wandered, we stumbled upon a delightful market featuring an array of small stalls showcasing the creations of local artisans and manufacturers, all available for immediate purchase. To our delight, nestled within this vibrant hub was a charming restaurant-bar.

Finished walking in 5 minutes. Nothing much to see except 1 or 2 photo stations. Not worth the time to come here just to walk around.

Worth taking pics if ur around the area but don’t think it worth going out of ur way to just visit this place.

Love this place! BCP stands for Blueprint Cultural & Creative Park, instead of Business Continuity Plan… heehee…. Good for a night walk and shopping for small stuffs. Every shop is unique. Heard that it used to be a prison staff’s dorm. I thought it was prison”er”’s dorm…. 😂🤣 I would definitely visit it again next time in Tainan.

A great place to roam around and discover new things at every corner. Lots of little places, restaurants, cafés. We bumped into the first place which has lot's of small stalls where local artists/manufacturers display their goods that can be purchased on the spot. There's a little restaurant/bar inside that place too and we ordered spaghetti Bolognese and hot chicken wings. The spaghetti and the drinks were incredibly good. We will definitely come back before we leave.

Too much to explore. If you like culture and arts, this is a must place to go, to explore the local arts, to appreciate the process of making arts. The campus is well-organized. One can spend the whole day without being bored. There’s a story behind each store, panting, and the walls. The atmosphere is quite different at night or during daytime. Both experiences and pleasant and worth exploring.

Know how engineering education is developed in Taiwan. Impressive.

What: Lack of professionalism at work When: 3:45 - 4:15 PM, Friday, 18 March, 2022 Where: Registration desk How: Talking in a direct, aggressive and rude tone Why: Only she knows ///////////////////// And below is the email I sent to NCKU Museum in regard to this incident. ///////////////////// Dear NCKU Museum: I would like to report an unpleasant experience I had this afternoon in the museum lobby area. After making a few inquiries regarding the pandemic prevention measures, a lady employee (a vounteer?) sitting at the registration table totally disregarded the fact that I was a guest and spoke as if she was at home and NOT AT WORK.  (Doesn't she know that the customer is always right?) I then made it known that I was American, implying that I was accustomed to politeness and good customer service.  This made no difference to her, however, as she replied that Taiwanese and Americans were treated equally at the museum. Next, I asked her if she was at work, but she held her tongue and ignored this question completely. Eventually I made up my mind to no longer tolerate her attitude and left. Upon exiting the museum, I went immediately to the security guard station nearby and lodged a complaint with a female security guard on duty who advised me to lodge a formal complaint on the museum's website. Nice and quiet spa town. Water is muddy a bit slippery little sulphuric. There's bus running from rear chia yi station hourly. And it takes about an hour thru country side.

This is a very beautiful place as well as amazing. where the natural hot springs really give the body freshness .. very good for relaxation to calm the mind. a perfect place for a family holiday in tainan city.

Awesome place to learn about Taiwan History. It's very interesting and interactive. I learn a lot about Taiwan history here. I bring my Taiwanese friend here, he also impressed with this museum. Fees: 100 NTD (Taiwanese and Non Taiwanese). There are discount for Annam People Location: It's quite far from train station. But I think still doable if you want to visit. Accessibility: Convenience for disable, elder, pregnant woman or whoever needs assistance.

Highly recommended for children and family! Visited here on weekend. Tickets: 100 NTD for adults, 50 NTD for student, children 6-12 y.o., elderly >65 y.o. You need to pay 120 NTD if you want an audio guide. However, you can just walk in with the ticket without that audio guide. You'll find sufficient written explanation on each exhibition. They have 3 floors inside. You can learn Taiwan history in a fun way. After the exhibition was closed (at 5 pm), we spent some time around the museum to enjoy the sunset and there were a lot of families had picnics. Such a nice place for families.

Excellent museum with admission less than $4, you get to learn the holistic view of Taiwan history. Fun exhibits. And great place to be in with AC on a hot or rainy day.

An amazing museum. It's new and organized well, walking you through Taiwan’s history. Signs throughout are in Chinese and English with an optional audio tour. It's 2 floors with special exhibits on the 4th floor. Great for adults and kids. Parking lot on-site. Plan for 2-3 hours to not feel rushed. Wheelchair accessible with ramps and elevator.

Beautiful park around the museum. You can easily spend a few hours outside just picnicking and enjoying the environment. When I went there the museum was closed for renovations. There was a small exhibition on Japanese textbooks. It was quite well curated in the sense that the scope was very well defined and the content of the show supported the premise of the theme. It was straightforward and informative. I look forward to visiting again when they open again in 2021.

This museum illustrates taiwanese history in a very interactive fashion with multiple floors covering different eras and sides of our history. There are many of child friendly areas too, some which also teach history like a time train ride and manhua history section.

Great museum, worth the trip out of the city centre to visit. Recommend 2-3 hours to cover everything.

Highly recommended. I spent a solid 2 hours here with the audio guide, learning about Taiwan brief history. The installations are great and well maintained. The space is small yet rich enough to keep visitors engaged for hours. There is also half-hourly 2D train ride that will take you through Taiwan history.

A marvelous museum. We entered it at opening time at 9:00am and left when it was closing, at 5pm! The second floor is fascinating and between reading all the display panels, looking at the artifacts, and listening to the many tracks on the audio guide, you can easily spend 54 hours just on that floor. Then, there are the two movies on the ground floor, with the one where you boats a train being really funny and cute. The other one considered in interviews if school children which are very touching The top floor had temporary exhibitions. The current ones were very interesting. Finally, you can take a long walk in the museums grounds. We spent a lot of time birding there . The museum has an excellent cafè. My chicken curry was delicious, and the latte was excellent and the floral Po pattern of the cream was perfectly done . I totally recommend the visit. We Ubered there from the Shangri La and it took us 25 minutes. Totally worth it . Do opt for the auditions, it adds to the experience.

Lots of good exhibits, interactive things for kids, spent 6 hours here and didn’t see it all. There was an AI art exhibit which makes an arty pic of yourself which the kids loved…. a train ride simulator which moves about (shakes) but doesn’t go anywhere and shows a fantasy animation out of the windows… VR headset film (book a timeslot when you arrive as only 5 per viewing)... and lots more.

Well put together, probably a 4 or 4.5 so 5 star a little generous. But for 100 ntd you cant go wrong. The permanent exhibition is on one floor. Explanations in english and chinese equally. Gives a good "feel" of how Taiwan has changed and ruled over the years and how the indiginous population was treated, and fitted in, good and bad. Most of the exhibits i think were more from a social science perspective that gives it "life", and models of people from times gone by. Dont expect antient pottery or art etc. Nice play area for the children on the first floor and outside. Couldn't find a restaurant, so bring your own refreshments as there are seating areas outside.

It is a little bit difficult to get to but it is definitely worth it! The exhibition is very nice and you can learn a lot, I spent about 5 hours there to read through everything. The exhibition is really detailed and visually pleasing. I bought the Audio guide in English but I don’t feel it’s necessary because everything on the exhibits is in English too! Very nice

Wonderful park in the city center! This park is a wonderful oasis in the middle of Tainan. Many birds, squirrels and other critters roam the park and there are plenty of sport facilities. There is also a small pond and many benches. There are also public toilets available and trash cans. This makes the park the perfect getaway from the busy city life. Overally a very chill park that is highly recommend.

This area of park has it flower blossoms that looks like cherry blossoms from a far. Small area in the park that's good for taking photos. Seasonal bloom during winter season so not all months has flower to bloom.

I enjoyed having a walk after dinner. Well maintained, safe, and clean park near to the train station.

What’s not to like?! An expansive park sporting a lovely lake and fine gazebo situated across a boardwalk out over the lake, Fine old trees providing ample shade throughout the park and lots of space for picnicking, dancing, dog walking or whatever else suits your fancy.

Very beautiful park within walking distance from the train station. The park has a small lake in the center, with a sort of temple built on top of it. The park gets crowded on sundays.

Nice and calm place. Good to visit before sunset. Although I visited after sunset but i don’t regret it. Still looks beautiful under dim light.

Great for walking around playing PokemonGo, early morning was also heart warming to see all the yoga and meditation groups enjoying the Spring time weather.

Relaxing place. If you want to just sit and pause for a while, this a good place to go. This place is huge and many people come and go here. Some of them were playing, eating, walking, jogging and some are just sitting while listening to the sound of the wind. It's also a good place to bring your kids and your dogs or cats.

There are hundreds of squirrels roaming around. They have formed gangs and fight each other, so be careful of collateral damage.

Toured the library located on the promise of the Tainan Park on a hot summary day - the 5-star can only be reserved for the new library obviously due to better A/C system and ample seats. As to the park itself, the trees and the bridge I’ve the lake are unique. I will definitely come back in spring, to observe the flowers. The youbike racks are near the entrance which is convenient.

Nice spacious park. But could do with a clean and tidy. Very popular with locals going for their exercise. If only the local authority would maintain this space it would be beautiful.

Eversince I love this place. No mosquito 😌 it's just that I go here after the recent typhoon and has a lot of fallen leaves , Big and small from the trees. 🌴

If you can for the water park, it’s nice! Yet if you would like to walk around the reservoir, you may feel a little disappointed with the tickets cost about 120 or 200. It’s easy to get confused with the directions because the map is hard to understand and I only met ONE staff to show me the way of each attraction.

A surprised and interesting first visit. Surprised was for the scale of the complex and interested for the varieties of activities one can explore. The highlight was a series of venues to commemorate the Japanese project designer with a true objective historical views disregard the sensitive nature of a Japanese occupation period.

Quite a great scenery Feel cool in winter but in summer would be too hot One disappointment Feel sorry for the little pony, which you are allow to take a ride on Living in a rather pathetic environment

Great place to visit and very relaxing for mind and body

Possibly the only place in Taiwan where I have felt ripped off and deceived. We got charged 450 to enter, thinking there must be something good to see at that price, when all is tired and run down with not even refreshments available. When we complained we were told that we had already received a discount because the water park was closed. There are many beautiful reservoirs in Taiwan, most of them free to access and with facilities that are better maintained than this. Not recommended.

This museum gives an in-depth history of the legendary figure and help you better understand the significance of the Anpen fortress. So come here before you go to Anpen, in fact, make this your first stop in Tainan, I'd suggest. There is even a video playing in english, with subtitle, for those who prefers audio visual over reading the posters, which are in English, Chinese & Japanese. Best of all, entry is free and there are 2 separate toilet locations on site, no soaps though, my favourite public toilet is still by the Confucius temple. Once you're done here, DO NOT miss the temple next door (see attached photo), it's for couples praying for a baby i think. The craft work inside this place simply blew me away, as I've never seen any ceiling so lavishly decorated. You almost feel like you've travelled back in time and is walking thru the parts of the Forbidden Palace.

Beautiful tranquil museum and temple in the middle of Tainan. Very quiet and detailed information along the hallways explaining the history and background of Koxinga. Nice place to sit and have a bit of food from one of the near by food stalls across the street. Certainly one of the top attractions in Tainan.

It was ok. Not much background to Koxinga himself, so quite detailed into intricacies about him, that might be more familiar to experts. But nice to include on a tour around Tainan!

A nice garden in central Tainan. This memorial is dedicated to the renegade general Cheng who escaped from China to this tiny never－heard－of island. He got rid of the Dutch who built the basic infrastructure. I simply can not resist myself from taking this photo. Yeah, Mr. Cheng had to be a feel－good person to brainwash the locals and establish his empire then. The Chinese means Cape of Good Hope which references to the Portuguese colonialism. But then the English reads Good Looking Corner. Somehow this has been the zeitgeist of Taiwan for centuries.

Not bad. Interesting history. Not really fun for children.
