Wow is 2022 and the zoo looks amazing. It was nice but now is wow! The price is more than Worthy Q40 adult. Has a lot of new aninals amd has been renovates, a lot of new designs and parking under roof. I love it. I give a 100%

Such a fun zoo! Great large and well kept animal enclosures and a huge variety of animals. We were so impressed by how well done the entire zoo was - landscaping, enclosures, variety, theming, it was all very nice. The one thing that keeps it from 5 stars is the crowds. There are a lot of people who go. Whether it's school groups or tourists or locals there was just a lot of people, but it's understandable why everyone goes because it's so fun and a bargain of a deal to go. Don't miss the chance if you are in Guatemala city.

I've visited Zoos in Hawai'i, Chile, Costa Rica, and parts of the US. This one in Guatemala is better than all of them, really. It's well kept, has a wide variety of species, a playground for the kids to run around, and even a food court. Best part? The entry fee is less than USD$6. A must go if you're visiting Guatemala City.

The zoo is beautiful and very much up to standard with other zoos I have visited in the USA. The only thing I wish they had more of is concession stands, I suggest you bring your own water and a few snacks to keep hydrated because there are few options throughout the zoo.

awesome.zoo. Exotic animals that I have even found hard to find in US Zoos. Rhinos so close..."Black Panther" was very active... The mix of the elephants and the gazelles I think they were was so safari like...Peacocks just walking around free at the establishment was fun, but my fave was seeing the baby hippo with the adult hippo and the Lizard just walking up to them.. Really great zoo...They even had a playground for the kids.

Amazing enclosures with healthy happy animals. Great views to see them all and well priced food within the park. If you have some time to kill before a flight, take your family here. Just don't forget to pay for parking when you buy your tickets

A very nice place to visit! There were lots of people probably due to the weekend, but it was no problem walking around and get to watch the different animals.

Amazing experience, this was my first time going to the zoo since they brought new species, nice place to visit with family and friends, you can buy food, they have restaurants. To be honest I loved this place. The only bad thing is they close at 4pm and restaurants doesn't provide service at that time to take.

One of the most beautiful Cathedral's located in central metropolitan Guatemala City. Completed in 1871 and considered to officially be the main Cathedral of Guatemala City. It is located in Central Park near the Palacio Nacional de la Cultura and other historic landmarks. I had a good time walking around the park and taking pictures of the Cathedral's beautiful architecture.

The Cathedral of Guatemala City is the Archdiocese of Guatemala. It is officially called the Holy Church Cathedral Metropolitan Basilica of Santiago de Guatemala. The construction of the building began in 1783. The cathedral is located in the Central Park Area. Visitors can come inside and enjoy its many places to sit, including the main church, a few chapels, and small individual areas dedicated to different saints/ historic events. The building has a number of works of art and religious carvings. A large marble alter with four large marble columns is located pass the main seating area. The architectural style of the building includes baroque and classical styles since the work on the cathedral continued during different times as part of the cathedral were gradually added. It suffered from both earthquakes in 2017 and 1976 and was reconstructed over time. Today this damage is hardly visible. The entrance is FREE and it is commonly well attended between masses. It is a nice visit which could take depending on how much time visitors are willing to spend and is highly recommended.

Beautiful building with great stories, if you are religious this Catholic Cathedral is open for everyone and you can go with you family everyday or enjoy the special events they do every Sunday. Located in the Central Park of Guatemala helps it have a better look of the park. Inside you can fine a lot of religious paints and ceramics showing some of the important histories of the Catholic religion.

Had an absolutely amazing tour with Manuel today. It’s difficult for me to speak much Spanish, but I understand it well enough. Manuel spoke slowly and clearly and I thoroughly enjoyed all the information he gave during the tour. The palace itself is breathtakingly beautiful. Just seeing the outside is not enough. The tour is totally worth it.

This is such a beautiful place to go if you’re in Guatemala City. The attention to detail in this palace is extraordinary. For tourist the entry fee tour with a guide included is only about $5. Definitely recommend this place.

The Palacio Nacional de la Cultura is known as Guatemala's City symbol. The architecture is stunning and the building used to house the President of Guatemala. Construction was completed in 1943 and it's currently used as a museum. In addition, the government occasionally holds ceremonial events here. It's surrounded by a distinctive plaza that has plenty of shops and tourist activities.

Gorgeous square in the historic side of the city. Here you will see the National Palace and it's not far from Restaurante El Portal and Mercado Central. Combine With Other Attractions For A Great Visit.

I went just after 10 am on a Friday. According to the check-in I was guest 46 for the day. We waited about 15 minutes before our group started. I heard they have an English tour available but the days/times aren't consistent (based on what I was told by someone who went last week) so I just did the Spanish tour. It's a really pretty place and I'm glad I went.

Many many travelers to Guatemala skip a side trip to the nation’s capital… a huge mistake! Allow yourself at least 1/2 a day to visit the national Palace, the national Cathedral, the “Mercado Central” and stroll the 6a avenida before heading to Antigua, Atitlan or any other final destination! I can assure you that you won’t be disappointed! The national palace offers hourly guided tours… they are 100% worth it…

The staff is very helpful and the palace is very nice. It's symmetric in design with two sets of stairs, murals and so on. The central part of the palace is glorious with one set of paintings on one side (pre colonial) and the second set on the other (colonial) with a majestic chandelier in the middle with amazing acoustics. Only guided tours are allowed and they run on every hour (I think). Some days they don't have English tours at all, same as the day we visited. But the guide was very helpful and still let us be part of the group. We were able to use Google translate in transcription mode and follow along without any issues. Foreigners need to carry the passport as well. On the outside, there's a big park with hundreds of pigeons who you can feed by purchasing small packs of their food (2-5 GTQ per packet). It's amazing to see how the pigeons flock around you once you start throwing food around you. Probably one of the best parts of our visit.

I was really surprised by how interesting this palace was! I didn't know it was something we could take a tour of until I saw the signs. You wait until there's a group of 20 before you go in. So if you arrive right after a tour enters, you wait longer than if you're the 20th person to arrive. The guide spoke great English, but the tour was in Spanish. She said she could say some stuff in English, but I was okay with just Spanish since I was learning. She spoke really clear Spanish and I understood more than half the words! Another foreigner also learning Spanish on the tour said the same. The guide was great and the palace itself was beautiful!

This is a beautiful building. It has elements of ancient Greek and Roman architecture with a few Moorish style sprinkled around. The attention to details is astounding! I didn't think that Guatemala had a building like this! Honestly, it's better than the Capitol building in Washington D.C. and can rival many European historical buildings. Be sure to take the tour. It's quite informative.

What a lovely museum. Tons of textiles to admire. Learned about the materials used, dying process as well as weaving and the regional differences if textiles. There is no AC so be prepared. I was not uncomfortable and it was 28 Celsius that day. You're also not allowed to drink inside the exhibits.

New must see exhibits blending beautiful antique Mayan pottery with the oldest of the museum textiles. And a wonderful new wing with a time capsule of mayan textiles evolution through time. Museo Ixchel really hit the mark this time. Museogrgraphy and lighting is hugely improved. A great new experience. Highly recommended!

Exhaustive collection of textiles depicting diversity, history, and evolution from very early on (early Mayan) till modern times. The collection is truly impressive and it takes at least 2-3 hours even if you're skipping a few articles in-between. English translation is provided along with the Spanish description so that's a great help for international visitors. The entrance fee is reasonable and the museum store downstairs has a good collection of hupile and other artifacts for purchase at relatively reasonable prices. Even with the slightly higher prices, you know that the museum is supporting the local artisan community. The museum itself is located inside the university campus which is very green and clean. The staff is helpful too. I'd definitely recommend a visit here if you're visiting Guatemala City.

Lovely museum with lots of information and especially clothing of the Mayan people. Entrance costs 45 quetzales. You need ID to get through the security gate to the complex. The gift shop is fantastic and it’s the only place I found in Guatemala that sells the worry dolls!

I love going to museums, especially when it’s about a different culture that I am from 😊 the museum is not that big but it’s definitely worth going! You can see so many interesting things, such as traditional clothes that was worn back in the day, pottery, paintings, etc. They also have a small souvenir shop in the museum, which had very reasonable prices. Staff was super friendly and willing to help whenever we asked questions.

Excellent. The presentation of the collections is breathtaking. Photos are of the open public areas. Photos allowed in rooms 2-6 if I remember the rules...all material is in English and Spanish. Beautiful and tells a great and important story.

Adjacent Modern Art museum in compound also closed with workers carrying debris out the front doors and construction lorries in front of both. Trenches dug alongside both and some hoardings up. There is no museum website so no info. All travel guides out of date.

I really enjoyed my time in this quiet museum. Many great artifacts from Guatemalan history. He museum has some fantastic exhibits and some awful exhibits, with no Spanish, never mind English information. Worth a visit after seeing the large pyramids and other Maya sites.

Amazing museum!! We couldn't believe that it was free given how modern and clean the museum felt, and considering how cool and vast the collection was. An absolute must to get some background information and learn more about Mayan culture before visiting any of the ruins! We had limited time during our visit and had to choose between this and the Popol Vuh museum, and we're happy we opted for this one!

I've been to a few Maya museums and they are all different yet so interesting. You might think that seeing one is seeing all of them but this is not the case, again in this museum something new and exciting. I really liked the modeled depictions of the life of Mayas in different life aspects, there is a beautiful mural inside, beautiful textiles and I really liked the art by Mena which ads a beautiful freshness to the museum! Although some areas would need a better lightning, there is a beautiful outside area where you can see some exibits in natural light! It's a clean and a professional place. Keep in mind that the price for foreigners is 60 Q and for locals 5 Q.

A great museum just minutes from the airport. If you have extra time before a flight (or can build in an extra hour or two into your plans) it’s a great spot to visit. Not huge, but well done and offers stunning examples of ancient carvings, artifacts, and art including beautiful murals and more recent modern folklore, clothing, and more. Some interpretative signs are in English & Spanish. It was comfortable and not crowded so it was easy to enjoy at your own pace.

This museum is meticulously maintained as is a gem in the crown of Guatemala City. You can spend 10 minutes or 10 days there. The cost is very modest and the employees are very, very helpful. SPECIAL NOTE: some of the fossils and pre-Colombian artifacts are very unique.

Fabulous collection of Mayan Art and history displayed in an exceptional manner. Truly fitting for a king. Really top notch, don't miss it. Friendly staff. My only complaint is that the descriptions are low and require bending over to see them. They also have small print and are hard to read, especially in low light.

Loved the museum . Very interesting collection of Mayan villagers traditional clothing! The museum is in the same area with the Guatemalan national history museum and modern art museum ! All can be done in one day but check first as I was a little disappointed because the modern art museum is closed for renovations

I love this museum! I learned a lot, the art was top notch, and the space is beautiful and well planned. Can't say enough about the quality of the pieces on display - they outshined what we saw at any of the many Mayan ruins and museums we have visited. We heard the museum was renovated recently, so kudos, because the whole experience was lovely! Would return again.

The museum is super organized and has a great exhibition of the Mayan culture. They have knowledgeable staff explaining the different pieces and making sure everything is taken care off. It's worth to visit to understand other Guatemalan wonders like Tikal and Chichicastenango.

we visited on a Sunday morning right after the museum opened. although there were renovations and updates going on, we were not significantly impacted by it. the displays were fabulous, depicting the various periods of the Maya civilization. a good number of items also had the description in English for those who don't understand Spanish. The camera feature in Google Translate enabled on-the-fly for anything else. it was definitely worth it for us.

Classy mall with a wide selection of shops but they should add a shop dedicated to travel (the selection of suitcases was poor) and the regular food court has the usual fast-food joints. Maybe take example on Ala Moana's Shopping Center's Food court in Honolulu. There's a restaurant section but nothing in between. I love the fragrant air in the mall. Excellent choice of fragrance. The movie theater could offer a broader selection of movies.

A Shopping Mall with all of your favorite designers in one place. Mango and Bershka are standouts since we don’t have these retailers in the states. Very nice Mega Mall!

The shopping place makes its great debut in bringing out the Christmas cheer and atmosphere. It is spacious with well organized Christmas theme in every corner. All the decors are eye catching and refreshing.

Good security, lots of stores , and a good theater. The levels are a bit annoying to bounce between with finding the right escalators. The food courts are okay. Very nice infrastructure and designed well with the dark marble and plants. Cool dinosaur themed areas for children to play at and guarded outdoor area.

Good collection of Mayan art, displayed in the context of their culture, evolution, calendar and trade. Especially convenient is the fact that it's literally right next door to the Ixchel museum which itself is pretty nice. This museum, too, similar to the Ixchel museum, roughly follows chronological order for articles. The entrance fee is reasonable. They don't let you carry the bag inside but have a place where they keep it for you. A water bottle is allowed inside. There's an extra charge if you want to take photos inside the museum.

I truely loved and my visit to the museum and had a chance to go back through their objects, relics and archeological pieces. I love that the explanation was in both English and Spanish. Big collection, I love Guatemala.

Impressive feat of cartography in the heart of Guatemala City. After spending 3 weeks travelling the country, we were thrilled to see all the places we visited on the map. Lovable, English speaking guide and police officer Luis brought the whole experience to life. We left feeling happy to have met so many nice people in this country. Doing the tour with Luis is not to be missed!

This is a great place to start you tour of Guatemala city. This a 1:2000 scale map of Guatemala was created 100 yrs ago to teach the people about their land. I was so impressed by this body of work and to think it was done 100 yrs ago even made it more amazing. It's 25Q per person for foreign nations and you get a paper with a history and explanation of some of the none obvious features of the structure. It definitely worth a visit.

But my experience was terrible, I tried to use the bathrooms and let tell I was awful, they were super disgusting and without water. I went to a bookstore inside the mall and well those bathrooms were a bit better still not very clean but al least they're was water. The restaurant are kind of expensive but, the food is good.

In this part of the city, where foot traffic is rare, it's nice to see people strolling around and having fun. Central Market (Mercado Central) is an indoor large shopping area located right in the middle of the historic center of Guatemala City (Zone 1). However, some of the same merchants sell products outdoors right in front of it. It is a three level shopping area but is not visibly seen as a large building. In fact most of these three stores are almost underground so don’t be looking for a tall three story building. The market is located at the rear of the Metropolitan Cathedral and this is how we found it. You will see a lot of vendors selling diverse merchandise and then follow the steps down to observe colorful and lively stands with fruits and vegetables, meat, spices, teas and coffee, you name it. Vendors in the market also sell items ranging from handmade items to mass produced souvenirs, knickknacks, art pieces. It was our favorite place due to its atmosphere and vitality, i.e., a place for people watching, buying souvenirs, trying different exotic treats and unknown foods, or simply exploring the shopping scene in Guatemala City. Every once in a while I question if perhaps this review account is just a commitment to the bit and not genuine love for the drink but the joy on my face when I saw this packaging as unparalleled. Something about being abroad and seeing your favourite beverage is thrilling. I got to enjoy this ginger ale with my friends at this plaza and it was incredible. I visited with a friend who is a chemist and he informed me that altitude affects the carbonation which makes the ginger ale less bubbly than where I live (Montreal, Canada). Highly recommend coming to see the different vendors and the vibes of this place.

Nice plaza located in the city center, in front of Guatemala’s city Cathedral and the National Palace. Feel free to explore or sit down and enjoy the view, while eating ice cream or drinking coffee. It’s very safe because there is a lot of Police around, but I would recommend visiting only during the daytime, since at night things turn sketchy.

This place, sadly, is dead now. There's virtually nothing here, except for pigeons. Of course, the National Palace and Metropolitan Cathedral remain here, but the ornate gardens that used to be in the square have been removed and in their place sits and sad, seemingly homemade, memorial to 41 girls that were killed in a fire at their state run home. And of course, the oversized national flag remains in the centre, next to the fountain that no longer works. Shops around here are few and far between. This whole area seems to have been forgotten and abandoned. Even the Cathedral gates were tightly locked shut. Overall, a very sad sight.
