My guide book said this famous museum was packed with exhibits and hard to work your way around. A guide definitely helps. Few exhibits are well labelled and it would be easy to miss something great if you tried to do it yourself. If you want to see a properly laid out modern museum in Egypt then my advice would be to go to the Luxor Museum. With the Great Egyptian Museum apparently close to opening, there are growing sections of this one now gutted and empty. It feels like closing sale! The highlight is the Tutankhamen exhibit. No photos in the treasure room. But I care less as looking at the golden mask was worth the trip. I wonder what will happen to this museum. It could be amazing but needs serious renovation. Also the traffic to get to and from the location is hectic.

Good but the guy at the entrance gave us very hard time while entering regarding a ticket issue. He was not nice at all. But the museum is good except the fact that there was no air-conditioning at all ,just few fans in some locations only not in all the museum, so, bring your own neck fan if you are planning to visit as it takes at least 3 hours to finish it all without guiding.

Considering the historical value and rareness of the artifacts exhibited there, I consider one of the most important museums in the world. I'm amazed with Egyptian culture and to visit this museum was breath taking. It is famous for the tuthankamon's pieces but it has much more to offer with thousand pieces including sarcophagi and a block of stone more complete than Rosetta's.

This museum has so many priceless artifacts throughout the entire building! A lot of the treasures uncovered from the pyramids are on display here, but sadly the building is in disrepair. There is no AC inside, the artifacts are left out in the open with no plexiglass between people and them, and if you go early there is hundreds of people with no crowd control. We made the best of our time here and enjoyed seeing the neat treasures. My advice would be to go later in the day when the initial rush has passed. Definitely worth a trip if you're in Cairo!

Me and my family went here with a tour guide. We paid him and he bought the tickets. There were so many people you barely had space to walk but as you progress through the museum there are less people. I would recommend coming here with a tour guide because they know everything and how to get things done. Unless you want to wait in an extremely long queue.

The Egyptian Museum is an absolute treasure trove of ancient wonders, earning every bit of its five stars. However, my only slight disappointment arose when encountering the exhibit housing Pharaoh Tutankhamen's solid gold mask, where photography is prohibited. While initially disappointing, one can't help but understand the necessity of such a rule given the precious nature of the relics in that section. It's a small price to pay for ensuring the safety and preservation of these invaluable treasures for future generations to marvel at.

Definitely a must see. It's so interesting to be able to see history first hand and up close. So many wonderful things to see with a story to each. You can spend an entire day and not see everything. It is best to have a local guide to help walk you through and explain what everything is. You get the sense of how people lived back in those days and how beautiful and detailed designs were as well. Best place to see if you want to experience history.

I don’t know if there are audio guides on the museum and that might change the experience. I went with our tour guide, from a Egypt tour. He explained some of the main pieces, but only like 30min, and then we walked by ourselves. There are some signs in there for you to read but too little. So maybe if you get a audio guide it is better. It is a bit hot inside, but they are constructing the new one ☺️ It has great treasures, like Tutankhamen treasures and golden mask, many mummies and many many coffins and falses doors. It is a must see without any doubts! It is probably a better experience with an audio guide

Astonishing and mind blowing museum. The collection T the museum can easily fill 10 more museums. I only hope the display can be better and to have AC as it was so hot during the day (our visit was on July). Hoping to see the collection being presented in better way after the opening of grand museum as it hurts to see some statues and artifacts being neglected and poorly displayed which in fact can be a master piece at other museums.

We spent a few hours here with a very informative guide (recommended). Despite so many items (almost all mummies for instance) being prepared to transfer to the New museum there was still plenty to inform visitors of the wonders of Egyptian history and raise awareness of the incredible achievements of ancient Egypt though all its ages.

One of the best museums in the world for sure. The collection and the representation of ancient civilization of this country is so well done that it took us almost 4.5hrs to finish looking through this place. Special attraction is always the one and only Tutankhamun. It was GRAND. Overall lovely place to learn the history of the museum. A definitely must visit place.

Historical Treasures Amidst Neglect I recently visited one of Egypt's oldest museums, and while it boasts an impressive collection of artifacts discovered in the vicinity of the pyramids, the overall experience was marred by neglect. The museum showcases a plethora of historical and well-preserved items, including the iconic mask of Tutankhamun, mummies, and various other relics. However, the facilities, particularly the toilets, were in a deplorable state of disrepair. Furthermore, it was disappointing to find that a tip was demanded for using the restroom. Despite the museum's rich cultural offerings, the lack of attention to basic amenities detracted from the overall enjoyment of the visit. I hope that the management addresses these issues promptly to ensure a more pleasant experience for future visitors.

Had the pleasure of visiting the Egyptian Museum( original) in October of 2021. The new Grand Egyptian museum wasn’t open yet! At this time, there wasn’t much at the older location, but I was still amazing and beautiful. Restrooms are on the 2nd floor, and the gift shop is at the exit. There are X-ray Machines and security checks. Plus maybe wear a mask. I

A must visit in Cairo. It's home to a vast array of the incredible treasures found in the tomb of one of the youngest pharaohs of Egypt known as Tutankhamun. This alone should be a selling point. You can view his intricately detailed sarcophagus, chairs (throne) and even his death mask, it's mind blowing. Apart from this, the building is full of incredible ancient Egyptian artifacts. There's even a room dedicated to mummified animals like fish, crocodiles, monkeys and dogs. If you've ever wanted to see real mummies, you've also come to the right place. Enjoy 👍👍

The items in this place are amazing and so is the architecture of the museum from the inside and out, but the sad thing that made me give it a 3 stars ratings is the very low maintenance that it has. There is dust everywhere, and the artifacts and mummies feel as if they’ve been thrown left and right sadly, and there are no plates explaining the items.

There are so many artifacts in the museum that you don't know where to look. However, the presentation of the artifacts was not as magnificent as I expected. King Tut's exhibition was nice even if it was small. However, photography was not allowed. There was no permission to take photos in the private rooms but there was air conditioning. There is no air conditioning throughout the museum, it is both hot and stuffy. Be careful while walking around. Unfortunately, the building is old fashioned and it was far below my expectations.

My visit to the Egyptian Museum in Cairo yesterday was truly remarkable. The sheer number of well-preserved artifacts made it feel like delving into an open book of history. I highly recommend this must-see experience—it’s simply unforgettable!

I loved this museum! What a stunning collection of Egyptian artifacts! But I cannot give it 5 stars… most of the display cases were covered in dust and the glass on the cases was often very dirty. A lot of exhibits were badly lit and looked neglected. I hope this will all be fixed when the new Grand museum finally opens!

The Museum is of course very interesting but not very organized or clean. No central air so we went early in the morning and started our day there. A large collection of artifacts,statues, artwork and also some mummies. Most items found at Tutankhamen tomb are there. Including the famous mask. Some of the items, including the mask, they don’t allow you to take pictures. We spent a few hours there without hiring a guide. The only reason for a guide would probably be to show you quickly the main items, instead of roaming around reading the descriptions.

If you love Egyptian history, you must visit this place. It is filled with thousands of items and artifacts from ancient times, including King Tuts mask and sarcophagus. You can walk around for hours looking and touching incredible pieces. The only critique is that it is not well curated, many pieces don't even have a description, items are dusty and not well taken care of - thus, my 3 stars. The importance of the items it holds deserves much better care and curatorial work. Make sure you notice the "no photo" areas, or you will get yelled at - but may be worth the photo! They may ask you to erase the photo, so be smart :).

This place was majestic. I would love to go again. And the most interesting to see in my opinion was Tutanchamon Mask made of gold. We did not take picture of it because there is a banner for don’t take picture. But anyways many people took…

The museum is very large. If you are someone interested in history, we will enjoy here. If you take time to see everything, it could take a whole day. However, if you see just the highlights, it can take upto 4 hours. Wear comfortable clothing and footwear. The entry is smooth. They accept only Visa Cards. So, make sure you carry your cards. They have student entry (with 50% discount) but you need to produce your ID card. They have washrooms but they aren’t very clean as the place is generally crowded. Tourist guide will be available with various language options who explain the history. Some areas of the museum don’t allow photography, so be mindful.

You can't miss this if you're interested in ancient Egyptian history. There are so many mummies, sarcophagi and statues. If you arrive within the first hour of opening, there will be a lot of tour groups. But it seems to be fairly busy at any point in the morning. We went on a Tuesday morning at 9:30. There's an official book/gift shop at the very end with a non museum gift shop right before it.

A lot of nice artefacts with a great amount of history behind them but it could have been maintained even better. The toilets are worst which do not have water and it stinks. There are a lot of mummies. I would recommend to go always with a guide otherwise you might end up in a scam. Even though we went with a guide, when our guide was not around some people would approach us randomly.

Visited on a trip while staying in Hurghada .Very long day . The best thing I would say is that you can say you have seen them .Not that impressed not what I thought they would be a bit disappointed .Camel rides and horse and carriage are 200 Egyptian pounds each person very rough ride in carriages would recommend camels

Due to COVID-19 and decrease of tourists it is possible to enter Kufu's pyramid without prior reservations. The pyramid is narrow, steep and some parts have extremely low ceiling so take that into account.

This is one of the most beautiful places on earth. It’s very majestic and fascinating, it really speaks for itself. It’s truly jaw dropping eye popping. I’ve been here several times now and it never gets old. It’s one of the ancient wonders of the world and the last one still standing, it’s a very extraordinary place to visit and I would definitely recommend doing so.

Giza plateau is a unique place one of the Seven Wonders of the World and I think it's the best one of them. You have to visit I to see the ten pyramids, Sphinx and all tombs there. Also you must go inside the pyramids to see how unique they are and how Pharaoh's were too excellent. Egypt is safe and always welcome all of you, remember you will feel like you are home. What a great ancient building! I've been there, and I was impressed by how big it is. I'm still wondering how they built this incredible mega-construction. Honestly, I don't have words to describe it.

I visited, although it was an organized trip, the people from Christian tour offer a one-hour walk and visit to the pyramid after 7 hours by bus, be careful which trips you take.

Giza Pleateau is where the Giza Necropolis located. Here in Giza, to the west of Cairo, Egypt, lies the most famous monument worldwide and the desired monument to be visited by the masses in every corner of the earth. The three Pyramids and the Sphinx have an appeal that forces people to travel thousands of miles to see them.

While the pyramids are worth more than five stars, the camel and horse riders make you feel unsafe. Furthermore, they are very insistent and some of them are very intimidating. Shame that the authorities do not step in and make the site more safe for tourists.

The weather is warm in this place and the view is very wonderful, but I have a question: How did they build the Arab pyramids? It has been for many centuries. This has one explanation. The ancient Egyptians had many advanced inventions And this is my rating. I might want to change the rating to 5 stars and not 4.6 because this is terrible

Excellent plateau, possibly the best plateau in Africa as the views are absolutely amazing. Lots of camels on the plateau to take you around but I honestly wonder if they're well taken cared for as I saw a few older camels looking rather tired on the plateau. Same with the horses too.

It's the freaking pyramids... they are amazing and a global icon of ancient history and travel. The area needs investment and clean up-- for sure. But, come on, it's an incredible location which every person should be able to see. Grab a carriage and bargain for 250 LE for the whole trip around the site-- it's worth it. Give the guy 50 le if he does a good job, 100 if he's great. Be wary of price gouging camel guides-- agree upon a fair price ahead of time. Never more than 200 LE for any photo opportunity. Just be nice, but be firm. It's an amazing location and should be visited in the early morning. If you are a student, bring your ID and you'll get a discount.

The massive bazaar can be confusing to navigate. But the locals are very helpful. There are small and large shops and stalls that sells everything from food, drinks, souvenirs, clothing, jewelry, housewares, and much more. Just enjoy yourself and barter with the vendors. It's a great culture experience.

The glowing market! Must visit place for tourists. You will mainly find different kind of decorative light in this market. Best time to visit- sunset-night. The market is literally glowing!

If you like shopping, negotiate all day long prices and be on the middle of the crowd and car horns, this is your place! I could recommend avoid Fridays as it will be very crowded and go by uber/taxi as I think you will not find any parking near. You can find scarfs, jewelry fragrances, very nice lamps and all you can imagine. Old antique store as well with books and decorations.

Street shopping at its best can be found here. While in Cairo, this is one of the most important and amazing place to visit. Bargaining is the Key here if you really want to make maximum profit out of this market. From Souvenirs to Clothes, you will find everything here. Had an amazing time visiting here. One day is not at all enough for this place...

A bazaar that is very colorful and interesting. Like other bazaars prepare to haggle to get best price. We went mid-late morning and it was great as not many people yet and some stalls not open yet. We stopped by a very old coffee shop where celebrities like Morgan Freeman visited.

An interesting bazaar, with some beautiful stalls. Be prepared to be pestered and questioned A LOT (If I hear ‘where are you from?’ One more time…) and sadly about 90% of the stalls sell the same things, asking absolutely absurd prices up to 3 or 4 times anywhere else. Well worth a wander but don’t come here expecting to make great purchases.

When I think about Cairo I think about this place. It is old, authentic, raw, and captivating. The architecture and the old streets are lovely. However, this experience is not for everyone....at times I felt claustrophobic and it's constantly crowded. The streets are very narrow. And you need someone local or a guide to help you navigate the streets otherwise you can find yourself lost in some strange ally. Generally it's safe and there is a metal detector and police at the entrance. Motorcycles roam around near pedestrians which is dangerous..(for this reason I would not recommend coming here with kids) There are lots of shops for souvenirs but I have to say that they inflated their prices so much that even after an 80 percent haggling experience they were still overpriced. I regretted buying from there as I found better bargains at the airport. It's a little bit frustrating to have to turn down a lot of the street vendors, but if you are polite and nice with them they will let you be... I love watching people there and chatting with shopkeepers. I can't wait to go back again.

This is a good souk in Cairo. Not far from Dow town at all, shouldn’t cost you more than 40 pounds with U ride. Very big area, so if you want to walk around most of the stores it could take up to 1 day, but of course most vendors are selling the same items. Some aggressive vendors and people along the way, just tell them no if you are not interested and ignore them if they keep on going. Spices, fabric, cloth, souvenirs (Chinese mostly), houseware….etc Quite hot and stuffy.

Interesting place. The bazaar has loads of aggressive vendors. But probably a good place to buy souvenirs. There is an American style restaurant there that has good food at reasonable prices. I have a photo of the outside here. It's called Naguib Mahfouz Coffee Shop. There will be a wait, but it's worth it.

An all inclusive bazaar that is located in the old town with narrow lanes full of vendors. You can find anything including souvenirs, spices, clothing and materials and food over here. The pricing is marked higher as all tourists visit the place but if you can bargain, you can find a good deal.

Nice experience, the history of this bazaar or market is really mesmerizing. I went on friday and it was really crowded but still awesome. You must visit 2-3 shops and then decide to buy anything. So much variety of food, souvenirs, and many other things. A must visit place and safe.

Such an experience especially if you visiting from the west! So crowded packed with people and any sort of vehicles that is so chaotic but at the same time so beautiful with all the shops selling anything you can imagine! Butchers selling meat, fruits herbs and vegetables and everything you could imagine! Definitely an experience and definitely a must visit!!!

I really liked this Bazaar, a lot of really good stuff, expect to pay a lot more as a tourist and they basically won't negotiate unless you have an Egyptian national doing your bidding like we did. The constant hounding of sellers was the least here compared to any other place we went which was a VERY welcome relief!

Really cool bazaar in the heart cario. There are plenty of local coffee shops to sit down and relax after an intensive shopping spree. Also a lot of local products are made to be purchased like decoration figures, spices and dates.

This place is full of activity and I loved the atmosphere. As a tourist per usual you may get approached but nothing ridiculous. Just politely say no and you can still enjoy your time. Prob one of the more authentic areas

There is the tony and restored party ,that's the heart and then there are streets full of merchandise . Some of the cafes are more interesting to visit and sip a drink ,then the actual buying experience

Sure this is a lovely place... but it was so so so bust with many many groups of young lads! We saw behaviour that was intimidating and even witnessed fights between groups. We were also harassed by said groups for money. We love a market normally but this one was not for us!

One of the best markets in the entire old Cairo, I would say you can definitely buy anything from here with good prices and also this place is good for just hanging out eating and drinking and enjoying the beautiful vibe of the authentic Arabian culture. There are museums here for which you have to buy tickets and they are open from 9:00am to 5:00 pm in evening so if you are willing to go there this is a must visit place for you as a traveller.

Full of light with a good atmosphere at night. Safe. Prices are great. Food everywhere. Picturesque lovey place. Traditional dancers are entertaining the streets.

BE AWARE!!! Overcharge everywhere. The area has its ancient beauty, & antiques can be found at any store. Have a translator or a tour guide at all times. Do not bring Dollars, nor Euros, they'll rip you off.

You should definitely visit this old town. You will find everything you need from souvenir to home accessories. It’s very antique and presents Egypt culture in a very nice way.

The place has its own history and is an ancient one. The view and the buildings are amazing but what ruins the experience is the shops and the crowd with a lot of beggars and sellers that wanna sell you everything. It's really easy to get scammed in those places so be careful.

Terrible pricing compared to other companies. Over twice the amount you would pay if you shop around, and same exact experience.

Good place for journey

Food was terrible, service worst- out of all my experiences in Cairo, this place was the worst. Over priced for a low quality experience.

The Mosque of Muhammad Ali Pasha (also known as the Alabaster Mosque) is beautiful. The best place to compare it to would be the Aya Sofia in Istanbul. Similarly, this mosque often has renovations happening, but that’s something to expect at many similar locations. The architecture is stunning, with a meticulous level of detail (you really have to see it up close to believe it.) 5/5 Stars

Very predominant building on the Cairo skyline with great views over the city. Completed in 1848 by Mohammad Ali Pasha, the Ottoman governor of Egypt, on the site of the Citadel of Cairo. Muslims abolition washing of hands/arms, ears, nose, hair, and feet, each three times, each for their 5 daily prayers before entering the Mosque, has probably been instrumental in limiting the spread of virus during the pandemic. The abolition foundation is made of alabaster from Turkey, and the clock tower a gift from France. The 5 pillars of Islam; 1) there is only 1 God 2) 5 times daily prayers 3) Ramadan fasting 4) pay 2.5% of your money to the poor 5) once in lifetime trip to Mecca

Grand mosque in the premises of Citadel of Saladin in Cairo city's highest point. This magnificent Mosque of Mohammad Ali Pasha, is also known as the Alabaster Mosque. This architectural masterpiece, constructed in the 19th century, is a breathtaking fusion of Ottoman and Mamluk styles, boasting towering minarets and a striking dome that dominates the skyline. Stepping into its sacred halls, adorned with intricate marble and exquisite chandeliers, we were transported to a realm of tranquility and spiritual reverence. The city view from this point is breathtaking..

The majestic mosque dominates the skyline, and from the mosque you have incredible views over the city. At first I was taken aback when I saw the beautiful carpets were gone, however the marble floors reflect the chandeliers perfectly.

A truly must see! Such a huge and beautiful place made of Alabaster. There's also a view on the terrace all over Cairo city where also you can see the pyramids on the background. Outside the monument It's very exposed to the sun so just be prepared.

Beautiful architecture, shows the dedication of the people of the time and influence throughout the Islamic world. It's a timeless place with so much history that you can feel in the vibrations of the stone walls. You could spend hours there and not notice the time pass.

The Muhammad Ali Mosque is situated in Cairo's Stronghold and is one of the city's most conspicuous milestones in Egypt spiritual tours. Worth visiting to enjoy it's magnificent architecture, both inside out.

Pretty mosque worth a visit... The complex (citadel) has also a great view to the city, where you can even see the pyramids on the horizon above all the Cairo buildings. This view is probably comparable to the daytime view you will have from the Cairo Tower, and at a.more affordable price.

a modern-day Muslim architecture that is significant in the Egyptian history; it is grand, is sophisticated and is complete. it saturated at the top of the hill and overlooks western part of Cairo; the sunset is beautiful too. we visited on a festival day that filled with local tourists. the interior is stunning, in all directions in all details, especially the ceiling and the rings of light that right above us. will be great if we had i) someone explains the details of the Muslim architecture, and ii) another 3 to 4 hours in the Mosque.

Worthwhile even for non-Christians. The building itself is already worth the 100 EGP entry fee, and the museum has some nice pieces. I found the art combining Coptic, Egyptian and Greek in one especially fascinating. Easily combined with the (free) Hanging Church next door, and quickly accessible through metro line 1. Highly recommended!

Interiors are fabulous especially the roofs since I like such architecture. No proper lightings as in many other museums. Needs more improvement to attract more people....

Lovely place to visit. A huge variety of Coptic artefacts from different time periods. Unfortunately, the museum was not air conditioned however you could feel that it is actually a little bit colder than outside. Most things have descriptions in English and French alongside Arabic. Be sure to arrive there early as its working hours are quite short. The museum has two floors and its beautifully carved in stone and wood.

This museum has an amazing collection of historical pieces, clothes, books, paintings, book covers, coins, small statues and doors. It's a 2 story building but there are some small buildings that include a small library, school toilets, cafeteria. You also get to see another side of Babylon fortress and the gate of Amr Ben Al-Aas. There's the amazing mashrabya (a window designed with wood and colored glass). It's perfect for taking pictures. It's like travelling to Greece in no time. After stepping in the museum's courtyard, you can forget that you're in Cairo. The oldest exhibits are about the pre Christian Greek civilization, there are many frescoes about people harvesting grapes, producing wine and about Dionysus, Aphrodite, about Zeus and Europe. The newer exhibits are artifacts collected from various Coptic churches around Cairo and they are like a time capsule. There are religious icons of various saints, some of them specific to Coptic Christianity, like Saint Apollo or Saint Bachus. The building that host the museum is a masterpiece itself, displaying an amazing mixture of Arab and Byzantine architecture. The patio makes the visitors feel like they are visiting the South of Spain. I was really impressed about the woodcraft created to protect the windows from sunlight. A great experience overall.

An amazing collection of Coptic art from Christianity and ancient Egypt history. All are allowed to visit. Ticket price currently is 20 EGP. The security at the main gate will check your ID before entering. Everyone is polite and respectful regardless of what your actual religion is.

As a christian church in Cairo it's a freshing, beautiful place. The Hanging Church itself is really special. A little bit crowded, but tolerable. The merchants are nice, and souvenirs are very cheap.

The coptic museum is a good source of artifacts and facts about the origins of the coptic church in Egypt. Almost all items on display are labbeled in detailed English. The Babylon fortress is next to it and can be seen as a part of the park in which the museum is located. This museum can be reached easily using the metro since it is right next to the Mar Girgis station

The place is unbelievable. First of all, the castle is extremely clean and well worse toward so it’s definitely worth seeing. Second of all, the museum that’s in the castle is amazing and deserves 3 to 4 hours. also, as an Arab, I did not pay much the ticket costs me just like any other Egyptian

The citadel originally was built in 11th century (1176-1183.) And the citadel was added into "world heritage site" by UNESCO. There is a lot to see inside the citadel like: mosques, military museum, police museum, art museum etc. definitely worth to visit without a doubt if you ever gonna visit Cairo, Egypt. This citadel should be in your touring top 10 check-list! My verdict - 10/10!

The Citadel of Saladin is basically a huge castle located in what is now central Cairo on a hill that overlooks the city. Within the walls of the citadel you'll find four large mosques, five useums a theater and a park. All very impressive. You can spend the whole day just touring the Citadel itself. I would recommend not skipping it, but at the same time pick the places that you really wanna visit.

A beautiful fortification built by the first sultan of Egypt, Saladin, to keep the crusaders out. Inside the walls there is the older original mosque and a newer one from 1820. Both are beautiful to visit. It is expected that you take off your shoes and wear long sleeved shirts to enter the mosques, of course. There is also a museum of the old jail, police force, and army. The entrance fee for everything there is 200 Egyptian pounds. I think you could still enjoy this by yourself, but it might be better to have a guide who can explain everything to you. The Coptic church is not far outside the compound, walking distance.

One of the best places I have been to, it oversees the whole country. It is a great place to spend the day till sunset and it is like a complex with series of mosques and museums to vist so it's better to be there early.

Majestic and beautiful. This citadel is so grand to take a tour and with a lot less tourists and mostly locals. You can actually walk around here freely to enjoy the history and architecture without getting bothered by the scammers.

Amazing mosque which breathes history. Made with marble and alabaster from ground to walls in the patio and inside, it is a must see if you are visiting Egypt. We purchased the tour with a guide to explain with more details but you can get an Uber and buy the ticket at the entrance. It has a beautiful view from Cairo as it is located up in the hill. If you are lucky and weather is clean, it is possible to see the great pyramids in the horizon.

Paid it a visit on Friday the 8th of Dec 2023. Fee was 430 LE. It was quite busy given it was a Friday afternoon, but you could walk around easily and visit all the places without waiting. The big mosque has two entrances, one for women and one for men. The funny thing is that the entrances are directly opposite to each other and inside you mingle because there are no separate spaces. There were a few vendors on the site but were not pushy and went away when I told them I didn’t want to buy anything. Since there were many families and only very few westerners, I was approached and asked for selfies many, many times. It felt like being a superstar. There’s a plateau from where you have some great views over Cairo and next to it is the small police museum. Didn’t go into the larger military museum because I thought it would be boring like the police one. Make sure you visit the prison. It’s a bit hidden on the side. Apparently you can get married on the site. There were preparations and I saw the groom and bride and her maids walking around.

This is a great place to visit as a tourist. We went on a Saturday, mid morning and it wasn't crowded at all. Highly recommend making the effort to visit all 3 mosques because the one past the Military Museum is absolutely stunning inside. So glad we went!

Breathtaking architecture combined with centuries of history and a spectacular view of Cairo (indeed on a good day even the Giza pyramids are visible - see picture attached). Tourist satisfaction is guaranteed :) There are no official tourist guides (which I found a bit suprising) but there are plenty of people who offer informal services (for 200 EGP - negotiated down from 300 EGP - we got a tour of all attractions). Make sure that the person's English is good enough though. The entrance ticket for this gem of a monument is worth every penny!

Huge complex. Our guide dropped us off and told us he’d be back in an hour. An hour was NOT enough time to see everything this place has to offer. I couldn’t really see too many signs in English so I was easily sucked into the military museum. Great history and a really cool building, if that’s your thing. The mosque is open to non-Muslims, so we checked it out. The layout of the castle may be easily understood for someone who speaks Arabic, but I was without a clue. If we had had more time, I’m sure we could have figured it out. Student ID is a real thing here and a significant money saver. But be sure to have a student ID, they will check!

The castle was beautiful and huge, the surroundings included several stops within the vicinity of the mosque, the castle, a small museum and many artifacts. You do walk a bit because there is a lot to cover but it is worth it. Again an issue I faced was the fact that foreigners pay using their cards and not cash, so I had to ask for assistance. All in all very fun, informative and a beautiful experience. There are vendors who sell artifacts and tourist pieces that are well priced.

Came here as part of a private city tour of Cairo. Do not miss this stop. It’s a beautiful mosque. They charge 10 EGP to get shoe covers but not necessary if you want to just walk in with socks. Leave your shoes outside. Very grand. At the time we went it looked like they were setting up a wedding.

The place is historical and looks amazing at night. They have a restaurant inside during the holy month of ramadan called sawa where you get to listen to live stage music while indulging a great taste of cairo traditional food. Amazing experience and staff.

One of the best gardens in Cairo with a huge space and a perfect place for chill out and picnic. There is also a large kids area with alot of games. The view is amazing specially at sun set time. They will not allowed to enter with football although you can buy one from the shops inside the park also the ticket for the Camera is very expensive. For mobile it's OK no fees.

This is an amazing place to recharge your batteries in Cairo. It offers vast grounds with beautiful greenery and landscaping, a number of restaurants and cafés, as well as a sizable playground. Toilets were available and clean. The playground does get very busy on the weekends and some of the slides and swings would urgently need some maintenance work or safety checks.

An absolutely beautiful park, we spent several hours wandering about and had lunch here. A very peaceful place to come, admission was 30 egp each (£1). The garden design was fabulous, would definitely recommend a visit.

One of the best parks in Egypt, my personal opinion tho that it needs some colors. You mostly see only green colors there. More restaurants and food options. The Mosque needs to be cleaned and add proper signs directions leading to it

So much green space to sit down for a picnic, relax or wander around to the different areas- love the sighting of locals gathering for get togethers, birthday celebrations etc with their family and friends. This is a relaxing park and an oasis of calm in the middle of a hectic city. I highly recommend a visit for the beautiful scenery and to take things easy for a while. Bring a picnic, a frisbee or soccer ball if you have one, and some money if you want to visit one of the restaurants or food courts. When I was there, about a dozen wedding parties were getting their photographs taken. It's pretty easy to stay out of their way though. There are plenty of scenic overlooks, water features, and grassy areas to lounge around. There's also a playground for children. Some of the lower pathways were closed off, but there's still plenty to explore. Just walking around the park took at least an hour. Admission was 40 EGP (45 on weekends). The entrance is on a very busy road so be prepared to take a taxi/Uber or walk amidst heavy traffic.

A very beautiful modern park located on a hill overlooking the Old Medieval part of Cairo. Supposedly until recently this area was a garbage dump but was redevelopped to give the citizens of central Cairo a green oasis to getaway from the dust of the city. I'd say the project succeeded. There is a restaurant on site with sweeping views of the city across an artificial lake.

It's a beautiful park! Wheelchair accessible and you will see families with their picnic on the shade and grass. Come to visit before 11 am or after 3 pm when the sun is not as hot! We visited here and stayed a good 2h because we enjoyed the shaded parts and we found really nice local people to talk to. 🙏Tourist, please take your trash with you!!! when visiting the place, respect the area and take your trash with you!! Its a park,nothing special,but when in Cairo,and all that mess and crowd,it can be a pleasent place to visit,just dont expact too much...here families come to have a lunch with kids and enjoy peace and quietness...it isnt that large and there is a wiew to see around, but Cairo is too large to be something really spectacular,you can see on all sides,even there isnt much to be seen as its a bit far from here...but I did enjoy peace and quit for some short time...ticket cost 40egp,45egp on weekends...

Great place with lots of pyramids and temples, suggest whole day as basic entry ticket for 450egp includes access to majority of sites, but you need to drive in between them. We came with careem (taxi) and agreed with driver to stay with us for extra pay. Or you can come with many tour operators. Don't pay security guards for taking your pics until you check they are usable.

Small, quiet and a beautiful church situated not far from Khan-el-khalili. Centrally located and easily accessible from any parts of Cairo & Giza. This place has a free entry for locals and even foreigners.

Prepare for crowds since it’s free and a popular touristy spot. Compared to the Egyptian ancient times it was the least interesting sight in Cairo. Unless you are interested in orthodox Christianity I’d say skip this church.

Wonderful incredible and a must visit if you’re staying in old Cairo

I expected a visually hanging church but couldn't see, yet it was a lovely experience. According to some sources, the church is standing on beams.

Interesting place to visit. It was the only ancient church that I visited in Egypt, but seems to be a Bizantine style. Very close to the metro station Mari Gris.

It was gorgeous. Breathtaking. Everything was so beautiful and looked like it was out of a magazine. You do have to take your shoes off to walk inside the church part. Bring shoe covers. They charge $1 for 3 shoe covers.

If you're in the neighborhood, visiting Saqqara for example, than this is a nice stop. Also if you have not been to upper Egypt yet, this might be worth visiting, but if you have seen the temples along the Nile than you will see this as just another statue of just another pharaoh. It is however sublimely carved and impressive in its sheer size. There is not a whole lot else to this site outside of the Alabaster sphinx which is outside of the museum.

Colossal, Majestic, marvelous statue of Pharaoh Ramesses II (the 2nd). Stunning, and beautifully preserved. To think it was found buried in the sand. And that once it was standing erect and marvelous.

Historical statues kept at this location. You can easily reach by road and walk upto the main building where the parts of Ramesses II statue is kept. Few other smaller statutes are kept outside in the open area.

The main statue is in a shaded structure and there is good sinage in english and Arabic throughout the facility. There are other artifacts set up outside with good sinage but little to no shade. Just outside the main facility there are some other sites that had been excavated and then refilled that are interesting as well.

Memphis smaller then expected but well worth the visit.

Memphis is a MUST come destination when in Egypt. The museum displays the single block of limestone sculpture of King Rameses II is TRULY AWESOME!

A must see place for travellers visiting Saqqara. The statue of Ramases II is the main attraction of the Memphis museum. The statue of that size and craftsmanship is unique in every way!!

Amazing….so many brand shops available with original products and prices affordable. Lots of restaurants and food court I mean it’s totally great especially if you’re a tourist and trying to get souvenirs for your family back home , you will easily find the best gifts which represents Egypt. A little confusing trying to find your way so just walk slowly take your time to see different things and ask questions 👍

Words can not describe the nice experience that you could have at City star Mall 🏬. A lot of beautiful & lovely cafes, restaurants and all kinds of shops. It's an experience that you should try yourself. The largest mall I've visited in Egypt. Has many floor with pretty much everything you could want. A cinema, food courts, coffee shops (Starbucks and Costa coffee are there too), clothing shops from well known brands, tech shops and so much more. AC throughout so nice and cool. A must visit if you need a retail therapy day 😂

It was my first time visiting City stars mall and we actually went to the Arab-African international bank. It has a snow city where you can take pictures in snow and there are some slides and swings and some adventures. There are unlimited number of cafes and restaurants. Its a nice hangout place to just eat a lot and walk around freely

Great mall with about 8 to 9 floors. A lot of big brands and it is packed with people. The security guards were extremely helpful and ready to help. One of the issue we had with few of the brand's were with the guarantee as they were not able to provide worldwide guarantee and tax refund for tourists. Had a great overall experience.

It's a good mall you can find everything there and they really care about decorating the place, it gives you amazing vibes, the service system is good too and it has whatever you need, The workers are useful ✨

Check in make sure you have your Egyptian ID or national passports . Rooms were okay. I didn’t like it because it didn’t have carpets so it felt so weird. Breakfast was great. Otherwise Hotel is really nice

It is a modern shopping mall with several restaurants, cafes, and big mart. It is adjacent to the hotel, so I went there almost every day during my stay in Cairo.

Great mall with great facilities but sometime complicated to understand the mall map which is not so updated. The mall shows “Indira Indian Restaurant” at level -2 but nothing exists inside mall.

once the largest mosque in the world, it is still impressive after 700 years. The best part of the mosque is the Madrassa and the four enormous arches beneath which four schools of Sunni Islam are taught. If you visit one mosque in Cairo, visit this one. you'll not regret it.

Looks quite imposing from the outside. The city and courtyard is hot and dusty. You pay 80 egp to enter and once you get into the building its at least 3 to 4 degrees cooler and very peaceful! High ceilings and some impressive architecture. Highly recommend a visit.

Beautiful mosque and architecture. Please be aware that there is entrance fee of 80 Egyptian dollars for adults and 40 for students. I felt although this is an archaeological place there should be no charge for Muslims coming to offer prayers. Nevertheless I piad the money and Prayed jumma at the mosque and was amazing. Very close to Citadel. There are also tombs in the mosque which is open to public. The complex has two different mosques close to one another.

A lady at the ticket booth she tried didn’t give me back change 100LE(I paid 200LE the ticket is 80LE the change is 120LE but she gave me only 20LE)I knew it then I said “give me 100LE”. She pretended just forgot it but I’m sure she did it on purpose. Anyway, Mosque-Madrasa of Sultan Hassan is beautiful and calm inside it’s worth to visit.

The architecture of the place is magnificent. It has a long old history. Even Obama visited it before. It has small corridors then you enter a huge center which makes you feel the majesty of God. It used to be a school for the four Islamic doctrines. Yet, the government needs to take care of it a bit more.

Majestic structure with picturesque design, built across it Rifa'i mosque also with magnificent depiction. But last time i visited it, was too crowded with bulk amounts of human, a bit difficult to perform prayer properly. But overall, such a pleasurable moments been there.

Very beautiful mosque and a very big one along Rifai mosque that’s exactly next to it, the mosque is a Mamluk-era mosque that also served as a school back then and has the burial site of Sultan al-Nasir Hassan, i highly recommend checking it out.
