What can you say about visiting the Great Pyramid? It’s an absolute that should be on your list of places to visit in your lifetime! First, it is obviously a very busy place most of the time, so do yourself a huge favor and get there when the gates open to beat the crowds that pour out of the tons of buses that start to arrive at opening or a little later. Also, when you arrive, go directly to the Great Pyramid to look inside. It is a tough walk up to the sarcophagus room along narrow walkways, stairs, and a short tunnel that requires you to “squat through.” It is hot inside and it’s a strenuous walk, but absolutely worth it. We noticed several people getting halfway up, then just quitting! We saw almost nobody inside the Great Pyramid at a little after 8 AM, so it was great for us. It would be really terrible having to fight a crowd to climb up inside to see it! Also, the sarcophagus room is fairly small and gets really crowded and really hot when the crowds start to arrive. We were able to get in early enough to get good photos without a crowd of tourists to interfere. There are lots of vendors here, and some can be a little pesky. Also, there are tons of camel rides available either at the pyramids or at the panoramic view point area. Plan on at least half a day to spend here, but spend the entire day if you can. Take plenty of water, and wear some sunscreen and a hat.

We didn't go inside, but to see them and soak up the atmosphere was more than enough. Took a camel ride, and the photographer took some really great photos. Then we went to the sphinx. It's definitely a bucket list not to be missed.

Incredible. A must visit place. If possible, try to walk the entire stretch from the entry to the panorama view spot ( approx. 2.6Km one side ) to soak in the beauty of pyramids. Reached there early morning. Gates opened at 8am. At 10.15am i returned to the gate after a ~6Km walk.

Sublime place, very interesting place with amazing history and mystery’s of Pyramids! This amazing experience was completely ruined by all the local people that are constantly trying to take your money. We got in at around 8 am, after we got our tickets at the office. Right after we crossed the gates, one of the locals approached us and told us that he works for the government ( showed us some ID, which was BS). We knew about his type of stuff and yet, he told us that he needs to explained to us where to go, after couple of min him telling us about things the insisted on taking our photo and then demanded a TIP. After that we got scammed once again by rude on camels, the person said 100 each, afterwards he wanted 1200 each. We were able to get him down to 800 Egypt pound. It is not about the money, it’s about the way it’s done, I and my wife felt very USED! My tip is this, when you go there just tell anyone that approaches you that you already did the ride on the camels and you don’t have any more money left. As soon as they hear that one of their buddies took your money, they believe it and live you alone. Once again, the Pyramids are an excellent place with very deep history! However, locals and the expectation of tipping EVERYONE AND EVERYWHERE made our trip to Egypt our fort and last time. This is very unfortunate, I wish Egyptian government would do something about this.

It's such an amazing experience to just be there, see them with your own eyes and touch them, this treasures made 5000 years ago. Just WoW! The great pyramid is huge and humbling. But the site is a bit chaotic and I assume difficult to navigate without a guide as there are basically hustlers on every inch and nothing is marked and there are no official trails or tracks. This site could be organized so much better. There is one free small pyramid you can enter, the big one is extra cost and quite expensive. The view point where you can see and photograph all pyramids is not accessible by foot, you have to take a horse or a camel, which is very expensive. The camels looked well taken care of, but in January was not hot so maybe think again if you want to ride an animal in summer months. Would recommend winter for visiting, it was not crowded and it was chilly and windy, not hot at all.

I climbed from the inside through very narrow passages to the top of the Great Pyramid, the Pyramid of Khufu, where there is a tomb of King Khufu is located , but it was empty. I enjoyed this adventure. I also visited the Sphinx and the buildings surrounding it and enjoyed riding a camel. I was enjoyable this visited and I bought some souvenirs for memory , I recommend.

What an amazing place this is the size of the Pyramids up close are amazing if you visit Egypt then you have to visit. If you go Sharm El-Sheikh the drive can be a long trip on a coach etc the coach took me around 9 hours and was well worth the long trip. The Sphinx and the Pyramids is just a site you have to see.

You can see why the Ancient Egyptians capture so much of our imagination! It’s a great monument but I’d definitely advise going with part of a tour, I went with FTS for a full Cairo trip to the museum, the sphinx and the pyramids and they were just amazing. Ahmed in particular was brilliant, very friendly well connected, and incredibly knowledgeable! Also very handy with a camera if you need someone to help you get the best shots for the gram! If you’re going inside I’d advise against if you are claustrophobic and it’s a little hard on the knees!

We visited the Great Pyramid of Kohfu yesterday as part of a tour and it was amazing once in a lifetime experience you'll get to enjoy. It's part of the Giza Necropolis and the last wonder of the ancient world and should be on your bucket list! We arrived at the entry by the great pyramid at 8.30 and it was not very crowded. Entry to tombs of the Pyramid costs extra 1800 Egyptian dollars but recommended if you're not claustrophobic and have good knees as you need to crawl and duck in a few sections. The place gets busy after 10 so the earliest you can go in, it will be easier to experience. You can photograph inside but might have to tip the people who take them for you. Overall highly recommended!

Amazing experience …just to be there .. unbelievable that it’s built 4000 yrs back… only Ancient wonder that still intact … trips can be made easily from Cairo ( 5 hrs round trip) and better to have through local car and guide

Go and see this ancient wonder while it still stands. Over 4,000 years old and one of the very few links left to the old world. It was a bit smaller than I anticipated and it's face has seen better days, but what an amazing structure for it's time (especially as it was completely cut and shaped from the bedrock), and with the awesome backdrop of the Great Pyramid in proximity, it is something you should see once in your life. Some free advice - just ignore the sellers and the camel guys. They would steal the eye out of your head if given the chance. They always start by asking "where are you from my friend?" A friendly old guy with a camel tried to remove the ring from my partners finger during a handshake he initiated. I confronted him and he walked off sneering in Arabic. The mask slipped there. Absolute scumbag. The radar was on for the rest of the day after that. This didn't take away from what a special site this is.

What words can explain the feeling you get standing just 50 or so yards away from one of the recognized moments in the world. My daughters were over come with excitement truing to kiss the Sphinx. Learning about the Sphinx does not compare to the experience of being here. Please. They Egyptian people are amazing. If you get a chance come visit this amazing country.

👌 Wow!!! What an amazing experience visiting this historic landmark. I was in complete Awe of the absolute fine details and carvings of the Sphinx. I booked my tickets in advance with a tour guide, we had a local tour guide whom spoke well English and explained the story in much detail. Tick off my bucket done ✔️

Interesting historical site and is one of the most significant sculptures in the world. Watch out for the local sellers who can easily take your hard earned cash, and be a bit careful as it can get very busy. Make sure you go through the Mummification Temple on your way to the Great Sphinx as this was where all the grim stuff happened which preserved the bodies for 1000’s years.

The Sphinx statue has to go through the ancient tombs, this place is very beautiful and attractive. You should come here to travel in the summer, the weather will be good for you, buy a camel and go, the entrance ticket price should be the same. buy online.

Can't miss this mesmerizing ancient wonder; its imposing presence against the backdrop of the pyramids is breathtaking. Despite the weathering, the Sphinx retains an aura of grandeur. Definitely an unforgettable experience. Practical info; take a hat and stay hydrated. Not a lot of shade in the area. Acknowledge, thank and quickly walk away with a smile if vendors in the area hassle you.

Amazing to see in real life! We visited late in the day and the site was very crowded. Might be better early in the day. We were not able to go right up to it and touch it like with the pyramids. Looks like they are doing some restoration. Still able to get close enough for some great pictures!

If you're ever in the area, make sure to check out the Great Sphinx of Giza – it's definitely a must-see in life! This iconic statue is located on the west bank of the Nile River, and it's one of the oldest and largest statues in the world. With its impressive size and mysterious history, it's no wonder that the Sphinx is such a popular tourist destination.

A must see when you are visiting the Pyramids. It is a short drive away from the Great Pyramid, and a separate entry ticket is needed to walk in to see it up close. It gets busy and crowded at times, so you may have to be patient to get good photos. There is a light show of the area sometimes that can be viewed from here. Check online for times and tickets.

I went here back on September 27th; I had been so busy with work that I was finally able to leave the review while working on the video. I loved the visit here. It was such a piece of history! Got a ton of great videos and pics of the group while visiting. 10/10 recommend you check this out if in Egpyt. It's a big reason why so many people come to this area.

I was on an organized tour, so we were guided through a temple that ended at the Sphinx. We had free time to explore on our own. All I can say is MAGNIFICENT. I had never been that close to it or seen the back of it I saw people going into it. On my next visit, I will get a ticket to go inside. While I was standing in awe of the Sphinx, a man wearing a necklace ID offered to take a picture and asked for my phone. I said, "No, thank you." I was aiming my phone to take a picture when he tried to take the phone out of my hands. It was more like a tug and not a forceful grab. Security was already moving in because he was standing too close to me. I held onto my phone. I want to stress that I did not feel unsafe, I do believe he only wanted to use my phone to take a picture of me. I did not want a photo, and I didn't want to pay a tip. Nothing is free. Please be aware of your surroundings, but know this, I felt safe everywhere I went.

After visiting the pyramids we had a short drive, to get to the sphinx. The to let to visit the Giza pyramids complex included the visit to the sphinx. We crossed through an open temple, to get closer to the monument. We didn’t go inside. We were in a group, and that was not an option. We stayed there for maybe an hour. It is something that you have to see with your own eyes. It’s unbelievable even when you are there. I imagined getting closer to it, but we didn’t get that close. It seems that touching is not allowed. It’s a majestic limestone sculpture, even from far away it’s hard to imagine how they were able to make it out of a solid block of stone.

During my visit to the pyramids in the same location there is the Great Sphinx, only a 5-minutes walk away, It is carved out of rock and next to it there is a building with pharaonic statues. One of these statues is the person who supervised the implementation of the work and next to the Sphinx there are shops that sell souvenirs.I recommend.

The monument is amazing, and I got to share the experience with my colleagues, thereby making it all the more special! I was relieved that the vendors largely left those who were not interested in buying anything alone. The only thing that would have made it even better would be if we could have seen the Sphinx from other angles.

First time here, came here with my mother. really amazing. Flew from Singapore/Malaysia. One of Cairo's must-see attractions is the Great Sphinx, the world's oldest monumental sculpture. We enter here via car, save time and can avoid scammer.

Just like the nearby pyramids, to be able to stand in front of this world famous piece of human history is amazing. The picture opportunities are plentiful and with the right tour guide, no one bothers you. We went on a Saturday, which was not that busy at all.

Standing in the presence of this structure rendered me speechless, it was a super surreal experience and I will always remember the moments walking up and staring at it. It’s truly a wonder and the history behind came to be is just as perplexing. The Temple of Khafre which is sits next to, we were told that it could have been used for the mummification practices that were a thing back in those times. I loved ALL THINGS EGYPT, the history here is amazing!!

My guide book said this famous museum was packed with exhibits and hard to work your way around. A guide definitely helps. Few exhibits are well labelled and it would be easy to miss something great if you tried to do it yourself. If you want to see a properly laid out modern museum in Egypt then my advice would be to go to the Luxor Museum. With the Great Egyptian Museum apparently close to opening, there are growing sections of this one now gutted and empty. It feels like closing sale! The highlight is the Tutankhamen exhibit. No photos in the treasure room. But I care less as looking at the golden mask was worth the trip. I wonder what will happen to this museum. It could be amazing but needs serious renovation. Also the traffic to get to and from the location is hectic.

Good but the guy at the entrance gave us very hard time while entering regarding a ticket issue. He was not nice at all. But the museum is good except the fact that there was no air-conditioning at all ,just few fans in some locations only not in all the museum, so, bring your own neck fan if you are planning to visit as it takes at least 3 hours to finish it all without guiding.

Considering the historical value and rareness of the artifacts exhibited there, I consider one of the most important museums in the world. I'm amazed with Egyptian culture and to visit this museum was breath taking. It is famous for the tuthankamon's pieces but it has much more to offer with thousand pieces including sarcophagi and a block of stone more complete than Rosetta's.

The Grand Museum promises to provide a modern and world-class facility to properly showcase Egypt's incredible history and culture. The move will likely address the issues of the current museum, such as organization and cleanliness. In conclusion, while the Egyptian Museum in Cairo is a must-visit for history lovers, it's worth keeping in mind its current limitations in terms of organization and cleanliness. Knowing that a more suitable and modern home for these priceless artifacts is on the horizon at the Grand Museum is exciting news. I eagerly anticipate the future of preserving and showcasing Egypt's rich heritage in an even more magnificent setting.

This museum has so many priceless artifacts throughout the entire building! A lot of the treasures uncovered from the pyramids are on display here, but sadly the building is in disrepair. There is no AC inside, the artifacts are left out in the open with no plexiglass between people and them, and if you go early there is hundreds of people with no crowd control. We made the best of our time here and enjoyed seeing the neat treasures. My advice would be to go later in the day when the initial rush has passed. Definitely worth a trip if you're in Cairo!

Me and my family went here with a tour guide. We paid him and he bought the tickets. There were so many people you barely had space to walk but as you progress through the museum there are less people. I would recommend coming here with a tour guide because they know everything and how to get things done. Unless you want to wait in an extremely long queue.

The Egyptian Museum is an absolute treasure trove of ancient wonders, earning every bit of its five stars. Walking through its halls feels like stepping back in time, surrounded by the enigmatic beauty of hieroglyphs, towering statues, and breathtaking murals that whisper tales of Egypt's illustrious past. The cultural significance of Egypt's ancient history is palpable in every artifact displayed. However, my only slight disappointment arose when encountering the exhibit housing Pharaoh Tutankhamen's solid gold mask, where photography is prohibited. While initially disappointing, one can't help but understand the necessity of such a rule given the precious nature of the relics in that section. It's a small price to pay for ensuring the safety and preservation of these invaluable treasures for future generations to marvel at.

Definitely a must see. It's so interesting to be able to see history first hand and up close. So many wonderful things to see with a story to each. You can spend an entire day and not see everything. It is best to have a local guide to help walk you through and explain what everything is. You get the sense of how people lived back in those days and how beautiful and detailed designs were as well. Best place to see if you want to experience history.

I don’t know if there are audio guides on the museum and that might change the experience. I went with our tour guide, from a Egypt tour. He explained some of the main pieces, but only like 30min, and then we walked by ourselves. There are some signs in there for you to read but too little. So maybe if you get a audio guide it is better. It is a bit hot inside, but they are constructing the new one ☺️ It has great treasures, like Tutankhamen treasures and golden mask, many mummies and many many coffins and falses doors. It is a must see without any doubts! It is probably a better experience with an audio guide

Astonishing and mind blowing museum. The collection T the museum can easily fill 10 more museums. I only hope the display can be better and to have AC as it was so hot during the day (our visit was on July). Hoping to see the collection being presented in better way after the opening of grand museum as it hurts to see some statues and artifacts being neglected and poorly displayed which in fact can be a master piece at other museums.

a very interesting place, worth seeing. a lot of exhibits, I recommend visiting with a guide, otherwise you can get lost. It's a pity that there is no air conditioning, but if anyone didn't know, the museum is located in Egypt, where it is extremely hot in summer or hot in winter.

We spent a few hours here with a very informative guide (recommended). Despite so many items (almost all mummies for instance) being prepared to transfer to the New museum there was still plenty to inform visitors of the wonders of Egyptian history and raise awareness of the incredible achievements of ancient Egypt though all its ages.

One of the best museums in the world for sure. The collection and the representation of ancient civilization of this country is so well done that it took us almost 4.5hrs to finish looking through this place. Special attraction is always the one and only Tutankhamun. It was GRAND. Overall lovely place to learn the history of the museum. A definitely must visit place.

Historical Treasures Amidst Neglect I recently visited one of Egypt's oldest museums, and while it boasts an impressive collection of artifacts discovered in the vicinity of the pyramids, the overall experience was marred by neglect. The museum showcases a plethora of historical and well-preserved items, including the iconic mask of Tutankhamun, mummies, and various other relics. However, the facilities, particularly the toilets, were in a deplorable state of disrepair. Furthermore, it was disappointing to find that a tip was demanded for using the restroom. Despite the museum's rich cultural offerings, the lack of attention to basic amenities detracted from the overall enjoyment of the visit. I hope that the management addresses these issues promptly to ensure a more pleasant experience for future visitors.

Had the pleasure of visiting the Egyptian Museum( original) in October of 2021. The new Grand Egyptian museum wasn’t open yet! At this time, there wasn’t much at the older location, but I was still amazing and beautiful. Restrooms are on the 2nd floor, and the gift shop is at the exit. There are X-ray Machines and security checks. Plus maybe wear a mask. I

A must visit in Cairo. It's home to a vast array of the incredible treasures found in the tomb of one of the youngest pharaohs of Egypt known as Tutankhamun. This alone should be a selling point. You can view his intricately detailed sarcophagus, chairs (throne) and even his death mask, it's mind blowing. Apart from this, the building is full of incredible ancient Egyptian artifacts. There's even a room dedicated to mummified animals like fish, crocodiles, monkeys and dogs. If you've ever wanted to see real mummies, you've also come to the right place. Enjoy 👍👍

The items in this place are amazing and so is the architecture of the museum from the inside and out, but the sad thing that made me give it a 3 stars ratings is the very low maintenance that it has. There is dust everywhere, and the artifacts and mummies feel as if they’ve been thrown left and right sadly, and there are no plates explaining the items.

There are so many artifacts in the museum that you don't know where to look. However, the presentation of the artifacts was not as magnificent as I expected. King Tut's exhibition was nice even if it was small. However, photography was not allowed. There was no permission to take photos in the private rooms but there was air conditioning. There is no air conditioning throughout the museum, it is both hot and stuffy. Be careful while walking around. Unfortunately, the building is old fashioned and it was far below my expectations.

Amazing place! Full of history, as full of artefacts as you can imagine. The Tutankhamen exhibition in particular is fascinating. There is a new museum opening soon but if you are in Cairo then a museum visit is a must.

My visit to the Egyptian Museum in Cairo yesterday was truly remarkable. The sheer number of well-preserved artifacts made it feel like delving into an open book of history. I highly recommend this must-see experience—it’s simply unforgettable!

I loved this museum! What a stunning collection of Egyptian artifacts! But I cannot give it 5 stars… most of the display cases were covered in dust and the glass on the cases was often very dirty. A lot of exhibits were badly lit and looked neglected. I hope this will all be fixed when the new Grand museum finally opens!

The Museum is of course very interesting but not very organized or clean. No central air so we went early in the morning and started our day there. A large collection of artifacts,statues, artwork and also some mummies. Most items found at Tutankhamen tomb are there. Including the famous mask. Some of the items, including the mask, they don’t allow you to take pictures. We spent a few hours there without hiring a guide. The only reason for a guide would probably be to show you quickly the main items, instead of roaming around reading the descriptions.

If you love Egyptian history, you must visit this place. It is filled with thousands of items and artifacts from ancient times, including King Tuts mask and sarcophagus. You can walk around for hours looking and touching incredible pieces. The only critique is that it is not well curated, many pieces don't even have a description, items are dusty and not well taken care of - thus, my 3 stars. The importance of the items it holds deserves much better care and curatorial work. Make sure you notice the "no photo" areas, or you will get yelled at - but may be worth the photo! They may ask you to erase the photo, so be smart :).

This place was majestic. I would love to go again. And the most interesting to see in my opinion was Tutanchamon Mask made of gold. We did not take picture of it because there is a banner for don’t take picture. But anyways many people took…

The museum is very large. If you are someone interested in history, we will enjoy here. If you take time to see everything, it could take a whole day. However, if you see just the highlights, it can take upto 4 hours. Wear comfortable clothing and footwear. The entry is smooth. They accept only Visa Cards. So, make sure you carry your cards. They have student entry (with 50% discount) but you need to produce your ID card. They have washrooms but they aren’t very clean as the place is generally crowded. Tourist guide will be available with various language options who explain the history. Some areas of the museum don’t allow photography, so be mindful.

You can't miss this if you're interested in ancient Egyptian history. There are so many mummies, sarcophagi and statues. If you arrive within the first hour of opening, there will be a lot of tour groups. But it seems to be fairly busy at any point in the morning. We went on a Tuesday morning at 9:30. There's an official book/gift shop at the very end with a non museum gift shop right before it.

A lot of nice artefacts with a great amount of history behind them but it could have been maintained even better. The toilets are worst which do not have water and it stinks. There are a lot of mummies. I would recommend to go always with a guide otherwise you might end up in a scam. Even though we went with a guide, when our guide was not around some people would approach us randomly.

A guide brought us there. It is not a museum. It is simple a shop. They are not very friendly. It is expansive. We bought a poster and at the end, when we unpacked at home, it was not even papyrus. It was the "fake" papyrus. Everywhere in Egypt they try to get ypur money. Don't buy where all the guides bring you. You always pay 50 -60% too much. Similar experience in Luxor with the Alabaster museum. I am over it now. I love to support these people and would like to buy stuff as I travel a lot. But now I am really over it. Never will buy in one of these shops again.

One of the women gave us a wonderful history lesson on papyrus followed by detailed backgrounds of their famous art pieces by professors. We never knew the rich history behind papyrus. We got a couple art pieces and they look fantastic in our home. I’d recommend this as a stop to any visitor!

It’s just a shop selling papyri...Practically, all the organized tours stop here. Brief explanation of how to produce a papyrus, but at the Egyptian museum in Turin is explained much better... In and out immediately... Classic tourist trap (where guides take their fair share)... And then I... Nice to see too, but, you come home and really roll it out? The papyri, the real ones, "let’s taste them" at the Cairo museum or in the various world museums... Not recommended!!!

Unique fun experience - super clean and organized! Wow what a cool fun experience to learn the details and history of the plant and the process. They are very warm and friendly, low pressure, and offering beautiful handmade works for reasonable prices. For sure this is worth a stop and we left with one beautiful piece of art.

They show you how to make papirus. Very professional staff. (they have many language to explain to you)

Very overpriced shop. You can negotiate, but still it is not worth it. It's no art or something original. They sell few types of pictures printed of on different sizes of papyrus. Lady we were talking to was so pushy that we ended up buying things we don't need mostly to stop her talking. You can expect that in all places in Egypt, but here it was extra frustrating. I advice to avoid this place.

Brought by a pyramid "government" guide after a day at the pyramids. DONT EVEN STEP FOOT IN THIS PLACE. Papyrus is very readily available all over Egypt. This place overcharges by up to 20/30 times and that's after haggling.

It's not really a museum as the art displayed is 90% new and by amateurs but you get to see how papyrus was made, the girl who showed us was VERY nice and she explained how you cut the plant itself and the rest of the process and it was free

Expensive but very nice experience and amazing papyrus designs. A bit pushy to make u buy and buy in batch and expensively papyrus's but great art in them so i can see why. I would go back again but would expect a discount.

Everything was going smoothly until we were approached to purchase paintings. When I politely declined, I was persistently pressured, with offers like "How about $200? How about $100?" to which I continued to refuse. But learning about how the paper is made is quite fascinating.

It’s not a museum… it’s a shop. There is no other way to describe it. The products are hugely overpriced and you will get pushed and pushed until you either pay this, or a similar price, or walk out and leave. I suggest you do the latter and leave! In the end we got 80% off the marked prices for 2 items, but I still felt like it was expensive even at that discount. Avoid if you can.

Our guide brought us here and we are so glad he did! Hospitality at its finest. No pressure to buy. Lovely demonstration of papyrus making. We did find two pieces that we couldn't live without, and now they will include a wonderful memory of this place too. I highly recommend coming here whether you are buying or just looking.

It is no longer at the base of the Great Pyramid. The building it was housed in has been dismantled and the boat has been moved to the GEM for display there. I have attempted to amend this on maps several times but the edit never seems to be accepted.

That this ship was preserved in such pristine condition is incredible. That it is now being repaired with tape is less incredible.

Khufu's ship is one of the oldest, largest and best-preserved vessels from antiquity. It measures 43.6 m long and 5.9 m . It was thus identified as the world's oldest intact ship and has been described as "a masterpiece of woodcraft" that could sail today if put into a lake, or a river. However, the vessel may not have been designed for sailing, as there is no rigging, or for paddling, as there is no room. It was a great experience

The Khufu ship is an intact full-size vessel from Ancient Egypt that was sealed into a pit in the Giza pyramid complex at the foot of the Great Pyramid of Giza around 2500 BC. Khufu's ship measures 43.6 m (143 ft) long and 5.9 m (19.5 ft) wide. The largest of the pyramids was the Great Pyramid, built by the Pharaoh Khufu (Cheops). Near the base of the great pyramid there are 5 underground chambers. In each of these chambers the ancient Egyptians placed a dismantled boat for Pharaoh's use in the afterlife. It took years for the boat to be reassembled, primarily by the Egyptian Department of Antiquities.

This place is just gone. Where the museum building was, there is just nothing anymore. We searched around and around, thinking we got something wrong. But then I compared outside photos here with reality and there is no building where there used to be one.

This boat is known as the Solar Boat, Cheops Boat and Solar Barge. They are all the names of the same beautiful boat that has had the honor of having a whole museum dedicated to it. This museum is located right besides the Great Pyramid of Giza, called the Khufu or Cheops Pyramid. 5 boats or "barques" were discovered here in 1954. They are believed to have been placed there to carry the mummy of the dead Pharaoh Khufu, across the Nile, to the temple. After which, the Pharaoh would then have been brought to the burial chamber. According to certain Egyptologists these boats were supposed to be used by the Pharaoh in his afterlife. To be used to carry the Pharaoh along with "Ra" the Sun God across the sky. There was still a controversy as to whether they were real boats, or just facsimiles constructed to serve a ritualistic function. This was because, even though the boats are totally sail worthy, there are no rigging or space for paddles. Though 5 boats discovered buried in 5 large pits around the pyramid, only one barque was lovingly restored and the other 4 were reburied for posterity. It is a beautiful boat, totally preserved, in spite of being over 4500 years old. It is said to be made of Cedar wood and is 143ft long. The boat is in pristine condition. That is why cloth overshoes are provided at the museum reception to tie over your shoes so that no sand may enter the museum. The ground floor of the museum is filled with photographs of the discovery and the large pit where the boat was discovered. The wooden stairway leads to the first floor, from where you can see the boat in detail. Large windows all around provide sufficient sunlight. It is truly magnificent and really worth a visit. Tickets can be bought at a window outside the museum, though many feel it's overpriced. There are washrooms in the premises as well. Many may balk at the extra fees, but if you have come so far, it is surely worth a visit.

The precision with which this is built is simply amazing. A miraculous piece of engineering work given these are more than 4500 years old. It is puzzling how could these ships survive and remain in such great condition. The museum housing the ships is also wonderful. Worth the visit and the pennies you pay :)

Fantastic monument of historical value but sadly cannot enter

This pyramid was built by Khufu's son, pharaoh Khafre. It is now the tallest pyramid on the plateau because it's casing in the upper registers has survived, unlike that on the great pyramid. It is also located higher on the plateau, which helps it to appear taller than it actually is. It costs 200 pounds to enter the plateau and additional 100 pounds to go inside the pyramid. Lots of vendors and hustlers around, they're not dangerous, but they are annoying.

This pyramids tends not to get all the love because it is ever so slightly smaller than the great pyramid, however this is actually the best pyramid. From the eye test you can’t tell that it’s smaller than the great pyramid and unlike the other pyramids the top of the pyramid is somewhat still intact.

Visited the Giza Plateau 8 October 2022. Included in the Cairo Pass. This is the second of the three pyramids of Giza. When you are standing in between the two pyramids this pyramid appears to be the taller of the two which is an optical illusion. The Pyramid of Khafre is smaller than the Great Pyramid but is a built on a slightly higher piece of ground so appears taller. This is the only pyramid here which still has the casing stones at the summit. Unfortunately was closed the day we visited so could not enter the burial chamber. You can walk around three sides of the pyramid but for some reason the fourth side is partitioned off. On the far side closer to the Pyramid of Menkaure is a good vantage point to get both of the main pyramids in a picture. You will come across some of the ubiquitous Camel hawkers here and if you want pictures it will cost you. I recommend not riding the poor animals as the abuse they get is terrible for such a noble creature.

Very cool to visit and see. Highly recommend the camel rides but be aware of the locals who pester you for money and to buy something.

Is lovely too visit the pyramid. Lovely time with my family we spent there.

A beautiful mountain of stones, I'm still in shock... no wonder there are theories that it was built by aliens. It's a pity you can't visit the inside, but it's also impressive from the outside.

I'm going yesterday. Khafre Pyramid, is the second largest pyramid in the pyramid complex at Giza. This is the burial place of Khafre, the 4th pharaoh of the Fourth Dynasty in Egyptian history. There are two entrances leading to the main burial chamber. One corridor is located at the bottom of the Pyramid and the other is located more than 11 meters above the bottom. I love Khfre.

The second Pyramid of Khafre is the only one where you can go inside, but it is extra to the ticket that you are paying and if you've been to the Valley of the Kings toms, then you can skip this. All in all amazing historical place and great work by the ancient Egyptians.

Definitely worth seeing as you can walk right up to this pyramid. You will get pestered for camel rides and people wanting to take your picture for you.

A much more less travelled destination but no less rich in history, best to come with a guide as this place is very hard to get to. Partially the reason also why it has less tourists around. Well, because of that you can get better pictures.

Beautiful pyramid, be prepared for steep descent passage going inside and climbing out! If you don’t have a full head of hair, wear a hat to cushion your head from bumping against the low ceiling. I found walking backwards was easier to go down.

The road of getting to the pyramid is a little bumpy, that's partly why most tourists go to Giza instead here. But the ticket price is much cheaper here, with entrance into the pyramids included! The air inside the pyramid is a little musty. Technically the pyramid is not red, but we were told it will appear red during sunset.

The bent and red pyramid are really nice. For only 100 EGP (09/23) you can visit the site and enter both pyramids which is really worth it. I would recommend hiring a driver from Cairo (we had a driver who took us first to both pyramids and later to Gizeh pyramids and back to the hotel for 40 Euro) as the two pyramids are quite far from one another. The car ticket costs 10 EGP.

Was absolutely stunning. We went in June so the temperature was 45 degrees Celsius; the heat wants absolutely insane. So please make sure you bring lots of water and make sure you check the temperature. Inside was quite a lovely experience, very well kept and lots of chambers to visit. Make sure you’re in good shape and don’t have a bad back or knees. Otherwise I wouldn’t recommend going too far inside as it is a lot of crouching at times and can be straining. My legs were sore the next day. But it was definitely worth the visit and I would recommend you check it out if you have the chance.

One of the first Pyramids that I visited in Egypt. It is also one of the oldest. You can also go inside the pyramid with the same ticket. Had a really great experience. However, the Pyramid is not as tall as the other Pyramids in the Giza especially the Great Pyramid. Therefore, I recommend you to spend less time and focus more time on the main Pyramids if you visit this first.

I came here last summer vacation with my family, Egypt is home to the world's top tombs and pyramids, beautiful, majestic and ancient is my description for it. Please buy tickets online in advance, otherwise you will have to wait a long time.

This is my absolute favourite of all the pyramids as there was nobody else here at this site. I had the entire pyramid to myself with not one other tourist! The climb down into the pyramid is not for the weak or elderly for sure. If you’re overweight and unfit - might not he a pleasant experience! Top tip - get there early and revel in the feeling of being the only living soul in the heart of a 4,500 year old iconic structure. It appears that most tourists just go to see the Giza pyramids and ignore the Dahshur pyramids - massive mistake!! I’ve been here twice and both times - not a single other person was there.

This red limestone pyramid, is the first true pyramid built by the pharoahs in the old kingdom. It can be climbed into, however it's quite strenuous but worth it.

Well we were unbelievably luck to visit this historic place. Lucky because we were there with our guide and no one else. Because the guide had been to the Pyramid many time she said we could go up and in by ourselves. So after we passed one attendant we were inside along walking into the very heart of this extraordinary place. It was hot but to get to the inner chamber was just special. And the history briefly goes like this - The Red Pyramid is the third-largest pyramid in Egypt, known for its distinctive red limestone construction. The pyramid was built during the reign of Pharaoh Sneferu, the founder of the Fourth Dynasty of Egypt, around 2600 BC. Its name comes from the reddish hue of the limestone blocks used in its construction. The Red Pyramid is significant because it represents a key development in the evolution of pyramid construction in ancient Egypt.

Lovely red color on the full pyramid of red limestone. The first successful true pyramid built by sneferu of the fourth dynasty, as well as the third largest pyramid in Egypt. Inside the pyramid is three rooms with tiered ceilings that go up. Less stuffy than other pyramids, but the climb probably still isn't worth it.

Went there early in the morning passing the rich farm lands ..Quite and peaceful.Quite a bit of climb but worth the hard work.

Inside this complex are 3 pyramids with the Black Pyramid said to be the first ever pyramid built. You can buy tickets at the complex entrance. The red pyramid is the largest of the three, and you can enter inside it free of charge. If you decide to go inside it, beware that it is tight, involves many stairs, involves moving downwards; and maybe walking backwards. When you arrive at the main chamber down, the oxygen levels decrease. There is ample parking and a restroom. Restroom was OK. Do not expect any kiosks that sell water or snacks.

I was much more impressed compare to Pyramid in Giza. I recommend to visit this area.

Amazing ancient structure in a pretty (desert with palms on the way in) place. Amazing to see and touch. Tempting not to give a high rating, because the lack of people was a highlight. Inside and out, I got to experience solo exploration at times. There were other people, some getting intense salespeople, but far from being overwhelming. The museum on the way in was enjoyable too. This is less touristy but same vibe. This was the first location where I realized all the pictures on the wall used to be in color. It must have been quite a sight to see everything in color. Also observe how light enters these structures and hits the door.

Mastaba, the tombs of kings or nobles of early Egypt, are stacked in several layers and gradually become smaller as they go upwards. The oldest is the pyramid of King Djoser, the second king of the 3rd dynasty (c. 2660 BC) at Saqqara, which is a six-story mastaba, with a base of 108 × 120 m and a height of 60 m. The Stepped Pyramid is located about 30 minutes away by car from the commonly known Giza Pyramids. There are fewer people than the Giza Pyramids, so you can look around slowly. There is Imhotep Museum, so you can get a good idea of ​​the situation and history at the time. The museum is very well done and I highly recommend it as a must-visit place. In the temple around the pyramid, you can see that the workers raised each brick one by one according to the architect's design at the time. The 15th double door located at the southeast corner of the eastern façade served as the actual passage. I visited the pyramid of Djoser in October 2021 with my tour group. We had the pleasure and permission to enter inside the newly renovated and recently opened in 2019. When entering the pyramid please be aware of the ceiling, it is about 5‘11“ high maybe 6 foot high in certain places. If capable visit the bottom of the pyramid to see the tomb at the bottom. which has been renovated.

This was an amazing site to visit and it is a worthwhile tour. The columns inside were beautiful and you could get up close to the pyramid. Of course like all the sites in Egypt the street merchants are very aggressive. But that come with the experience.

During the off-season, there were fewer people. Our tour guide showed us everything in detail and took us around all 4 corners of the pyramid. Shared lots of important details of 1st ever built pyramid. Ŕ

Saqqara is such a fascinating area. Everyone knows the Giza pyramids but the Step pyramid is the first and the museum and area is worth a visit!

This was our last stop of the day, so we were already pretty tired and hot. We did not go inside the step pyramid. We went inside a different pyramid, before getting there. The Pyramid of Djoser, (step pyramid) was built during the Third Dynasty and it is located in. Al Badrashin , Southwest of Cairo.

Love love loved this, better than the Giza Pyramids. Such an interesting area and going into the tomb here you don’t have to pay extra and it is just extraordinary. Felt very surreal being surrounded by these ancient hieroglyphics.

The boat tour on the periphery of the entire place is spectacular. The themed exhibits with people playing different characters from earlier ages is delightful 👏. The guides are quite knowledgeable and show dedication towards their work. The souvenirs are fairly priced. Best thing no one is pushing you to make purchases. A big thumbs up to the entire team for maintenance and upkeep of the property 👍

Great for family groups or school trips. There are picnic tables around the children's play area for people who bring their own lunch. The tableaux / re-enactments are fun to watch and some of the building work is very nice.

A super beautiful place, the boat, the ambiance are amazing. Recreating ancient Egyptian life showing mummification and so many bits of daily life,all along with displaying different history parts like the French Campaign, Sadat museum, displays and theories about the pyramids’ building process, parts of Islamic and Coptic museum. Every time I go to cairo, I go to the Pharonic Village. I can't recommend it more! The experience is well organised, professional, full of interesting small details and very educational. You learn so much. The staff are amazing and highly educated. We always get a private tour and find all the tour guides to be very knowledgeable and good and what they do. The village layout is well organised, and you will need half a day at least to get through it all. I really like how they have lots of rest spots along the tour with drinks and food. We always end the day at the restaurant which offers the best Egyptian food, it's just so good! The tourist shops are really good too, I always get the majority of my gifts from there.

If you want to know more about history of Egypt, you have kids and you want to have a good time, to have fun - you must visit it!!! Really great - huge and clean territory, interesting locations, muuuuch of museums, restaurant, riding by ship and yacht on the Nile river - all you will find there!!!😊👍

It was a very enjoyable experience, learning how ancient Egyptians lived. We went around along a river or canal in a boat and information about the different scenarios was broadcast over the speaker. Would have been even better if we'd been allowed to get off the boat and interact with the actors in the various scenarios.

Amazing the replica of Tutankhamens tomb, the explanation of daily life in ancient Egypt, the boat museum, we loved it! We took a public tour but were alone on the boat because the only English speakers there at the time. The guide Habiba was absolutely lovely, knowledgeable, enthusiastic and friendly! Super expensive for what it is but kids liked it a little. The museums are basically all reproductions and its run down. If you need place to burn100-150$ and few hours go for it. If it were half the cost, it would be more palatable.

It was a great experience. There are many activities suitable for kids and adults, including museums, games and there’s also a fun escape room there. There’s also a boat trip in the beginning where they introduce you to the village in English and Arabic (and I think other languages are available for groups). The staff there is extremely friendly too. Will definitely go again 💯

A million dollar worth place in middle of the western desert in egypt. A underground museum, insitu fossil presentation in limestone, nice washroom for visitors and a extraordinary restaurant with amazing architecture make this place so unique. Highly recommended to visit. I loved this place.

Cool to walk and see the skeletons out in the desert and the landscape is beautiful. Didn't pay to go into the indoor exhibit but wish there's prominent maps by parking to know how many sections there are in the open area. Instead we just kept walking until we decided to turn around. Informational signage inside the scattered huts (after 10) were mostly so faded and dirty that you can barely read.

A very well designed and interesting small museum and then a clearly marked walking route around the various fossils in the desert. The slight breeze made this bearable but on a hot day it would be challenging. Bring water! The place is fascinating and well worth a visit.

Such a treat to be able to visit this world heritage site. It is worth the trip to get here - highly recommend hiring a guide with 4x4 to take you through the desert and then to Wadi El Hitan. The road there is not completely paved a regulate sedan would have trouble and take much longer to reach it. The site is divided into outdoor open air museum and a small indoor museum. Both are interesting but plan to take water and spend more time for the outdoor portion. We walked several hours and didn’t see everything. But great experience to see the history - you feel like you’re on another planet!

If you r interested in pre historic, or want to give your children a unique experience this is a place, you will see a unique well preserved fossils from Mesolithic age, also you will be able to camp in the desert and see the stares you miss in Cairo sky, and if you visit during December like I did you will be lucky to see the Geminis meteor shower, an astronomical phenomenon happened every year in mid December. Also the place offer nice accommodation ( toilet, tents, coffee shop), don't go by yourself always go with an organised trip as the road isn't easy and also no phone connection 30kl pre the park

Incredible place. We loved our visit. Anywhere else in the world, "the valley of the whales" would be the main tourist attraction.

I had a free day in Egypt and a tour to this paleontologic site was just irresistible. Booked a guided tour trough Viator, and actually went by myself. The guide and driver pickme up at hotel at the s time and felt safe and comfortable. We switched to a 4x4 car, to get to The Valley of the Whales. The ride on its own is already an adventure. I really enjoy fossils and rocks, so this is really my “cup of tea”. The ticket to the museum is $10 and there is an informational video to watch before you get to the main room. The main fossils are from basilosaurus and foursome. Totally worth it. There are restrooms there. After that, my guide walked with me to all the allowed fossil sites exposed on the desert floor. Amazing experience! Beautiful and peaceful place. Almost surreal.

A breathtaking experience that takes you back in time to when whales and other sea life once lived . Now it's a desert but there is evidence of the rich ecosystem that once existed. There's a lot of walking involved and a lot to see. Sunscreen, a hat, good walking shoes and comfortable light clothing is recommended. There is an indoor museum where a lot of whale remains are on display as well as information about how they evolved. There's a video available for more information about the area. It's very impressive and definitely worth seeing. You can also camp in the valley to enjoy a night under the stars.

the Whale Museum is an open area which has preserved many fossils of sea animals, 30 to 40 millions old, that is palenotological era. it is N UNESCO Wotld Heritage Centre. there is a small house with a few fossils and a detailed description of the history. quite fascinating to know about some unique whales and other transitional species, like

What a cool place! Based on the mangrove layers it can be estimated that this area was a safe harbor for the ancient whales coming in anywhere from 10 to 20 meters deep. The surrounding land formations created a sanctuary shielded from the ocean currents, filled with mangrove trees, and also a place to prey on other whales. Very likely that some of the whales died and ended up there due to the ocean currents. Overall, just a really cool look at our past 40 to 42 million years ago.

We went via a local guide who was very helpful, we really enjoyed our trip, visiting Wadi el Hitan, Wadi el Rayan lake, Qarun lake. Lots of crazy sand and rock formations. Museum at Wadi El Hitan was good. We went mid January, would be too hot for us in summer.

Visited 12 October 2022 Amazing world heritage site complete with stunning vistas complete skeletal remains of early whales and other marine life. This is one site that is far older than the pyramids. Once you visit the small climate change and fossil museum allow yourself to wander around the site and take in the beauty of the valley and the palaeontological fossils. We were there in the afternoon and the only other people there were the two Danish tourists who we passed with a flat tyre on the way from Qasr Qaroun. As it is in the arid desert make sure you have plenty of water, a hat and comfortable clothes and shoes. Some of the views of the valley are otherworldly and sometimes it feels like you are on Tatooine and you will see pod racers come around the bend 🙂

Incredible place for nature lovers. I will come back for sure. The place is quiet and the landscape is stunning. There are very well indicated walking paths and there is also a small museum explaining the nature of the fossils which can be found there.

Its really amazing and huge amusement park , I can say it shall be in the same level of Disney world Paris but unfortunately due to the bad management it's not maintained well , many games need a deep maintenance, the behavior of the staff who are operating the games are very rude and vulgar We bought the gold pass which was the most expensive pass but we ended up not using the tickets they gave us for the spec games inside because the operating team always say that these tickets can't be used in these games so we ended up playing the normal games that is covered under the regular pass !!

It’s a really nice park with some big rides. Some rides need payment to be used, usually about 50 pounds. It’s quite an old place, some renovation should probably be made, but overall it’s quite the enjoyable experience.

I liked this place a lot, it was a lot of fun. I think the owner needs to consider doing renovations and maintenance for few things. The mini zoo needs attention as well, and maybe more animals. Overall all it is indeed a nice place and highly recommended for families!

Probably it is the biggest fun park in the country, nice games that fit all ages. Roller coaster is one of the biggest. Working hours are not enough as it close 9 PM during weekend, also most of the nice games are very crowded with long queues

A lovely place for me since I was at school, has a variety of games for adults and a special part for children’s on a large space, the waterfall is very intersting😊, you can visit it in winter as all the park is open.

In the past, it was one of the best entertainment places in Egypt, but unfortunately now it is in need of complete renovation. I do not know why, despite its enormous potential, its owners left it in such a bad state. My last visit to it was filled with a feeling of sorrow.

The place is wide full of great exciting games, Roller-Coaster, Top-Spin, Car race, video games and many others that I don't even know their names. Dream park I would say expensive but quality for good money I would say okay . Probably it is the biggest fun park in the country, nice games that fit all ages. One of the most terrible experiences I have ever had in an amusement park. The ticket is a bit expensive but it's definitely worthwhile.

Par is actually old. Will be very goid if there is will be some renewal and maintenance. Generally idea is very nice and there is a lot of different attractions for little kids and for adults. Perhaps need few small businesses to get some space there and put some investment in the place itself. Not for often visits but generally good experience.

The park itself is great and a lot of fun. However rhebwaiting in queues was terrible. We waited up to 45 minutes for a 30 second ride. There are no attendants organising the people waiting and many young men were jumping over the railing and not waiting their turn. They also need better maps of the park. Other than that is was a good day out.

Max 10 min wait. The place inside isn't crowded even when there are schools visiting due to the fact that the games are spaced out from each other. Starting your day at 10-11AM is recommended because it starts to get crowded at around 1pm. Games are okay, and there's a general minimum required height for certain games (a minimum of 120cm). All detailed heights are listed on the ticket window and at the enterance of every game.

Absolutely worth a visit for example after a morning on the Gizeh pyramids which are not far. It’s a special place, where breathtaking art is created before your very eyes. The ethos of this place, its commitment to freedom and creativity, the amazing pieces on display, all contribute to a truly unique experience. You can buy the tapestries produced here but bear in mind you’re buying art not a souvenir, with the budget that goes with it.

Everything about it is heritage, from the buildings, to the people, to the uniquely crafted artworks. Must visit, must know their story.

Mr. Alfonse Ghattas was very kind to show me around the display and workshop area. It was amazing to learn how much passion the founder had poured into this project to sustain Egyptian textile art.

As Taha Hussein's grandson I know the house well. While it has generally been well maintained, some aspects need attention and a budget. Floors have been allowed to become shabby, with haphazard coverings. Furniture has been reupholstered poorly. Shutters need a paint job. Considering that in the two hours I was there there were no other visitors, it is perhaps understandable that there is no incentive to make the effort. It is a pity that the garden, once the main attraction of the residence, is no more. I suppose visitors are naturally more interested in the house.
