Vinales was one of our favorite places to visit when in Cuba. The scenery is amazing and there is lots of nature/wildlife. Recommend going on a tour around the valley and visiting a farm.

Viñales is amazing. We had horse tours through the whole valley. Though, not all horses are being well treated. Those next to the colorful walls stood there sattled in the sun the whole time we were there and no water around. We were looking for real ranches to rent the horses. The owners name was Juan. At another ranch the young owner showed us how they grow and dry tobacco and rolled us a cigar right in front of our eyes.

Nice cigars, juices and very tasty rum. A paradise for flavour, gaucho style nightlife and very very good music. Some months are very touristy ..... stay on the hills for amazing views

Yeah.. It's some typical tourist ventures-so what! It's a day away from the usual. Have a cigar, have a coffee, a rum,some good food,more drinks and enjoy natural beauty. You are on holiday after all and you'll do "touristy" sooner or later.

Vinales Valley is a wonderful place to visit! Go here for: - Great food and drinks that are very reasonably priced - party on the main street and town square with some fantastic live music and dance - Natural beauty, sunrise and sunset views, peace and quiet - gorgeous caves - hikes, horse riding, tobacco farms - friendly people all around You get to see some beautiful faces of rural Cuba which is very different from Havana or Varadero, highly recommend to visit this.

Trying to escape from the Havana Routine, Viñales is the place to go: This is the country side but everyone in Viñales is pro tourising, all the houses are available to rent, the Hostals, apartments look better than most in La Havana and most in Matanzas. People seem to be more friendly, food taste better and the air is cleaner. You're surrounded by the Viñales mountains which have kind of the square formation. We did the horseback riding through Viñales Valley $20 to$25 and the tour took us to the top, from where you can see and appreciate the Valley and the mountains, a great and tiring experience. I suggest you visit for at least two days so you can visit all the locations like the caves and walk around the town and do the Zip lining. Overall, we had a much better time at Viñales than at La Havana and Matanzas. We visited with teens and they loved it. One thing I didn't like was the Indian Cave, they charged us full price but didn't tell us that half of the cave was closed down, ask first.

If you're an adventurer and don't want to stay in the super-touristy spots of Havana or Varadero, take a day trip to Vinales. It's so beautiful here and you won't regret it. From Havana, it's a 3 hour drive. Via bus, it's about 12 CUC, one way. If you take a yellow taxi, they will charge you much more than that. Try and get a local to take you, but make sure there's at least 4 of you to make it worth the drivers' time and money. When in Vinales, do the 5 hour horse tour. It's absolutely amazing. Cigars, coffee, scenery... Amazing.

The Viñales valley is encircled by mountains and its landscape is interspersed with dramatic rocky outcrops. Traditional techniques are still in use for agricultural production, particularly of tobacco. The quality of this cultural landscape is enhanced by the vernacular architecture of its farms and villages, where a rich multi-ethnic society survives, illustrating the cultural development of the islands of the Caribbean, and of Cuba. Initially, we are going for the sunrise but it was too cloudy that day. Now, go through the photos taken again, still not bad to see the Valley itself.

The best handmade cigars are born here. I am not a smoker person, but it was the cigar which I really liked. Because of the rush I have bought a box of cigars in havana for 120 CUC, but I’d rather spend them on hand made cigars created by Vinales people.

Nice but not breathtaking. I would recommend to go there by push bike and then go to Mirador Bellavista (have a cold drink at this beautiful spot with an incredible view), its only a short ride from “The Mural”, after that go back to the main road using a different road. Way better than paying a taxi.

First of all the place is fantastic, secondly: the piña colada we tasted close to this place (i suppose- the same owner) was one of the best in Cuba and third: the food was simple but VERY delicious. We enjoyed the cuban authentic food (we also ate with some locals at home). Un saluto da Italia e Moldova!

Delicious food in front of you, wonderful mural view is just behind and the rum is given to your hand so that you can add as much as you want into your Pina Colada. What else do you want? We enjoyed the lunch here a lot. We stopped here on the way to our Cave tour but it was not just an ordinary stop. Food, atmosphere in short everything was satisfactory.

Life size mural on mountain wall makes it a special place. This place used to be under water. It emerged from the sea with all fossils in its body. And artists captures its beauty through elaborate art in wall mural. If you are in Vinales valley, the world heritage site, you should not miss this place. Food is absolutely delicious. Better to spend days instead of just day tour. One of the most peaceful place I have ever visited.

Best piñacolada ever!!!! Besides that, there's nothing else to have! The view is mind-blowing in a 360 degrees radius.

Restaurant is ok. Pina Colada at the bar is a must have! Funny they let you add as much rum as you want so be prepared!

Fun underground caves with river. If you are not in a group it’s best to get ahead as the line underground can take 10-15 minutes. well worth the $400 peso

Huge cave full of stalagmites where there is an underground river you can take a boat ride along. Can get wet and slippery within the cave so tread carefully.

Nice cave! Not too long, but quite impressive. There’s a nice boat ride at the end that takes you out. Would have been nice if that ride was with an electric boat instead of a fueled (the exhaust gases aren’t too pleasant and probably not well for the cave preservation). Definitely worth the visit, not too crowded and fun.

Indian Cave or Cueva del Indio in Vinales Valley, located some 4 km north of Viñales in the Valle de la Guasasa is well-developed for tourists, with lights and a boat tour. This place reminded me of the cave at Rudy Falls in Tennessee! The only difference was this cave had a pretty cool boat ride at the end, and there wasn't a line of people coming back the opposite way like the cave in Tennessee! I also liked the little water at the end of the cave! It would have been nice if the river that is the deepest inside the cave could be followed further down the stream once it exit the cave! There is also a big waterfalls inside the cave just like the one at Rudy Falls, but it's not lit like Ruby Falls! This was a nice outing!

We went to the caves as part of a tour from Havana. The bus ride was long, but once in the hills was pretty. The tour we were on had a lovely guide and driver. Once at the caves we walked through at our own pace. The caves are spectacular to go through, and the geology was worth exploring, but not much information was available. The reason why they are called Indian caves seems sort of elusive, and why they are important is also unknown. But suffice to say they are worth the visit.

It's a nice little walk with a small boat ride at the end. We paid 1 euro per person. The shame was that they let too many people in at the same time, which resulted in nearly a 30-40min waiting time to get out of the cave by boat. In comparison, it takes like 15 minutes to walk to the end of the cave.

The trip from Havana worth. Nature at its best. A “small” cave (appr. 150m) which ends at a small river in which boats brings you at the entrance of it.

A beautifull botanic garden at the end of Viñales. Despite a major damage from the hurricane in automn 2022 the garden (free entrance and funded mainly by donations), is well preserved and definitelly worthwhile visiting. The guide was very good, but you'd better resist the option of having dinner in its beautiful little cafe, if suggested. Food is not their strong point and is not cheap either.

Totally recommended. John gave us an amazing explanation of the plants and fruits that they have. Then we tried some natural juices. The place is maintained with lots of love and effort.

A historic botanic garden at the end of the High Street in the town of Viñales. Lots of flowering plants and trees, despite some damage from the hurricane in September 2022. There is no entrance fee but a donation is helpful for the upkeep. We hoped to see hummingbirds but unfortunately didn't, however we were lucky to see Turkey vultures which seem to roost in the trees over night. A good place to spend an hour!

The best experience we had in the town limits of Vinales. The guides were friendly, well versed and spoke Spanish, English, French, some Italian, German, and more. The garden had a lovely range of local flora and was well kept. It was all completely free; donations were well in order, however. Great for young and old, garden fanatics and indoor people– any way you look at it it was a great way to spend a morning or afternoon.

A local garden that has truly outgrown the family that started it. Now donation based tours walk through on bunches with guides explaining what the local vegetation is and can be used for. At the end they even offered a local fruit to try.

This place is my favorite local spot. You can visit with parrots and a jutia, see local fruit growing including cacao, and there's a cheap and well-stocked bar inside. The guide is entertaining and educational, if you opt for an informal tour.

Interesting cave to visit, however be aware the last tour of the day is at 1530. To reach the cave, it requires a 20 min ride from Vinales. Once at the entrance you will be equipped with a helmet with a spot light, different colours for men and women. To reach the cave one needs to climb a steep hill over rocks and other obstacles. The normal route was partially destroyed by the hurricane in spring 2022. The view at the entrance over the valley is spectacular. The cave is not paved or equipped especially for visitors with lights and platforms. You really walk in the complete dark over obstacles, although mostly save, except for some slippery areas. There is one stretch which requires climbing a ladder. One reaches very large chamber which is lighted. In total the cave system is apparently 47km long, open to the public are just a few kms. Was an interesting experience, different from other cave systems visited. Not recommended for persons who are not fit or strong footed.

Great experience, english speaking guide, he was very friendly and funny. The cave is huge and nice place to cool down in the hot and sunny weather. Tour took about an hour, nice time to discover new adventure.

This is known to be the largest cave network in Cuba and it is pretty big. The guided tour is worth a visit. There is a nominal fee for entrance and they provide you with helmets and torch lights. It is a fairly easy tour and the hike does not involve portions that are too steep. As long you are wearing a good pair of sports or climbing shoes, you will be fine. I did it in beach chappals and still managed to get away with it :) There are far better caves else where (recommend Mexico and Budapest if you really like caving), but this is still worth a visit if you are in Vinales. Just make sure you bargain for the taxi to get here so it does not end up being too expensive.

We joined the official guided tour and there English speaking guide in the entrance to lead all people in a specific time schedule. There was also private one but the locals told us better to join the official one. They would provide you the helmet (with lamp) in the ticket office. The cave is very big so we could only visit a part of it. Completely dark in some points as the cave was well preserved naturally without any additional stuff built. The part open for public is not that difficult to walk. It's an very interesting experience and recommend to all.

Tours are available in Engel is and Spanish. The walk up to the cave is a little steep so make sure that you have good shoes on. Tours only takes about and 1-2 hours depending on the size of the group. Your guide will walk you through and explain how the locals have used the caves over the many years.

If you have never visited a cave before this cave would be great. However, the tour is very slow and no as interesting as other cave tours I have been on. You never get truly deep into the cave (you can always see light from the outside). 10 CUC per person. 25 CUC for a taxi from Vinales that will wait for you. Don't pay any more than this!

IT'S A SCAM! DON'T GO THERE! We went there after the visit to the Cueva de lo Indio which is indeed very beautiful. This place instead not only is non sense - the cave is not that beautiful and there is just a fake village which is instead a restaurant and a tobacco place created to sell other stuff to tourists - but they also tried to steal money: we paid to the cashier the tour and went to have a walk. Other guys who were in our same group decided instead to have a drink there. When they were about to leave the owner told them to pay also our ticket because we didn't pay. They paid the tickets and came to us to tell the story, so we went there and told them we were about to call they police. At that point, they gave the money back and invented there were too many tourists and the cashier didn't recognize us (there were only 6 tourists including the two of us and the other couple who paid twice!). This happened because no ticket was provided and therefore probably nothing is legal there. So avoid this place please!

This cave is not so much impressive, ww paid for a ticket even there was no light inside. You can cross this cave in 3 minutes . I think it could live some slaves in the past. Now there is also restaurant here and some parties.

A former haven for runaway slaves. A short walk through caves to a reenactment/recreation of a slave encampment, followed by a walk or horse and trap ride back to the car park in the beautiful Viñsles countryside.
