Beautifully designed and really well maintained! There is a lot to see. We walked the whole path slowly and with a few short breaks and were through after two hours. There are many impressive plants and trees that look like your wildest fantasies and on top there is a wonderful view over the sea.

Spent a lovely morning (about 2 hours) walking around the gardens. Really enjoyed the many beautiful flowers, trees and feeding the fish and parrots. You purchase tickets using a machine (it’s in English or French) and pay by card or cash. Purchase food €2 for 3 little containers to feed the animals at entrance. Would recommend wearing bug spray and taking water as it gets hot and humid. The signs for flowers and trees are only in French unfortunately but didn’t spoil our experience. Enjoyed a cold drink from the cafe (friendly staff) in the shade with an amazing view of the Deshaies bay. Exit through the gift shop with a large range from jewellery to postcards etc.

One of the better botanical gardens we've been to. Very well organised, nice path to walk with lots of shade available. The cafeteria was also very good but it can get a little crowded. Highly recommended if you like this sort of thing. Good for families (we saw lots of kids) and for the general public. The walk was very easy and had excellent facilities.

This is a fabulous and lush oasis featuring spectacular flowers, trees, plants, parrots, flamingos, and lorikeets not far from Plage de Grande Anse in Deshaies. There is also a very pleasant cafe and restaurant overlooking a waterfall and the flamingos. We took many photos and were just so amazed by the beauty and diversity of the plants growing throughout the park, many not native to Guadeloupe. The gift shop is also very nice and adjacent too the cafe we had three hours to spend before heading to the airport and that was perfect to fully experience the plants and birds and chill a bit at the cafe. Highly recommend!

Very nice, albeit smallish, botanical garden. Interesting presentation of tropical plants in a very pleasant and though-trough layout. The most impressive to me personally were the Macaw parrots, in full freedom, with their own little houses, nameplates (by individual) and all. Absolutely remarkable - bring your good camera! On the bird front, you'll also find Rainbow Lorikeets (locked up in a voliere), flamingos (free roaming), as well as just passer-bys like all sorts of hummingbirds, summer ducks, and even local chickens & roosters. The restaurant is good too, but do not rely on the waitresses' recommandations, I think they're too busy to consider what you're asking them, as we observed first hand - just figure your own thing from the menu. The kitchen looks quite proper and is interesting to watch while waiting on your food, looks like a bunch of good folks doing a good job and liking it. Overall a good experience that I recommend if you're into this sort of activity. In terms of comparison, Balata in Martinique was a bigger deal, but no parrots, so you know...

It was nice but their signage is unkind. Super weird using a British flag when they meant to use the English flag. I speak ‘British’ (Welsh) and so would appreciate the misinformation corrected. Also the large parrots in cages was super sad. Otherwise a beautiful space.

Beautiful garden! Well maintained and adventurous to walk through. The diversity of the flora was great and the flora itself astonishing. The animals were a bit sad to see though. They cut the wings of the parrots that stayed outside and despite this being prohibited, people were feeding them. There is no one present to guard these animals. The parrots in the cage, who one was allowed to feed, were pretty stressed at some moments. I think they should reconsider holding the animals this way

We came in the afternoon hoping there would be less people and more parking...no such luck, but we managed. The beach is one of the most scenic that we've been to in Guadeloupe and well worth it. Unfortunately we were staying about an hour from here and the drive was so twisty and steep none of us were willing to do it again. I would recommend staying in this area if a great beach is a must.

Beautiful Caribbean beach, full of palm trees 🌴 and gorgeous vegetation that provide shade and even refuge in case of tropical rain! Even at its busiest time it doesn’t feel crowded. This is likely the most beautiful beach on the west side of Basse Terre. A long stretch of sand, quite different in color than in Grande Terre. Not really for kids as the water gets deep quite fast and there are waves. You need to be careful when getting out of the water so you don't get pulled in back. We only went there at the end of the day, but will surely visit it if we come back. Plenty of parking found there.

As a fan of death in paradise I was so pleased to finally go to the police station and Catherine's bar, it is a very popular destination for the British, you will be ripped off with entrance to police station costing 10e for little more than 5 minutes and 5e for a bottle of beer in Catherine's bar, our trip from a cruise ship included a stop where the tree in the lodge is and a stop at a beach (we were unaware of this) service at the beach was woeful and extremely slow, 28 minutes for a pinini and we were second in the queue so no excuse, I can't give a review on Guadalupe itself based on a 4 hour trip but it does look nice and maybe worth revisiting!

Nice beach, with yellow sand and situated in a deep-ish cove keeping it quiet on wavy days. Lots of people scuba diving, but we only snorkled. Mostly un-alive (gogol refuses the real word) coral and some fish, so I don't think you'd go there for that. My wife did manage a photo of a young barracuda, so there's that. It would be 5 stars, but it seems quite popular. While nowhere near la Malendure, which is pure madness, it's still dense especially given its diminutive size. Parking is the usual "somewhere up there on the road", but doable, no 1 hour walk or anything near that. Also, there is no real infrastructure to speak of, so bring your pick-a-nick and diapers.

This is a great beach but please be aware this can be dangerous. The beach itself is sandy and a very steep angle so the rollers coming in pretty much bounce back on to the next incoming wave. So every so often these crash into each other giving a spectacular explosion of water, but, if your in the bad spot when it happens....well people have been seriously hurt here. Great amenities nearby with everything you could need for your visit including large coconut trees and almond trees offering cover.

One of the best beaches in Guadeloupe. It is a long beautiful beach with many Palm trees and nice clean sand. the water is warm, sometimes with big waves. A round this area you will find some nice beach bars, restaurants and showers. Finding a parking lot could be sometimes difficult.

One of our favs on the whole island!! Amazing soft golden sand, picturesque palms, and a lot of room to spread out. Parking is crowded (as most beaches in Guadeloupe). The waves can be VERY large which my kids loved. If you go right past the waves (not far from the shore at all), you can have a peaceful swim. My kids loved doing the boogie boards and there were other kids there wave skimming. There are bathrooms and water to rinse off. We saw the house from the show Death in Paradise. Had drinks at the restaurant (very good drinks). Such a good day! The restaurant does blare loud music on the beach which we did not mind. If you prefer more quite, there is plenty of space to get away on this beach for a more secluded experience.

Probably the best beach on the west coast! It is beautiful and large. Lots of people come in the afternoon for a sundowner, but there is always enough space so it never feels packed like Malendure. When the air is clear, you have a good view on Montserrat.

Beautiful beach with plenty of nice sand and blue water. To find the beach, you pull down a small alley. The parking is the the only downside as there is not much room and it is mostly in sand. There are two restaurants and one food truck as amenities. There are a few gazebos nearby as well. The beach is home to the shack from the show Death in Paradise. It is truly a scenic place and worth the stop.

Beautiful long stretched beach, great for morning strolls, not too busy this time of year. As in most parts of the west coast of the island, you’ll find calm and respectful tourism that blend in and support the local communities, clear up after themselves on the beach and cherish the paradise Guadeloupe is in the fashion it deserves to be treated. We have been to 8 beaches so far in Guadeloupe and this has been one of our favorite as it is quiet and beautiful. The water was calm with no large waves. There were only a few people there. No bathrooms. No restaurants (there was a small cart that was closed on this day- I do think it is open some days). There are some lovely areas on each side to snorkel and we saw many beautiful fish. The sand was a lovely gold and on the north side of this small beach, the creek flows into the ocean and there is black sand mixed with the gold and it is soooo pretty. My kids liked playing in the river area in the sand. There was some trash and we found a few pieces of glass but this is pretty much every beach we’ve been on in Guadeloupe as there are no public trash cans. UPDATE! We went back one month later (so end of July) and the parking lot was completely full and impossible to park (we parked on the side of the highway along with others). The beach itself was not super crowded but more than it was early July. The river that had flowed into the ocean was dried up and the upper area of the river stagnant and dirty- I saw people using it as a restroom so I don’t recommend exploring up there. We still love the beach but it was MUCH busier for some reason. Snorkeling was still incredible and the sand marbled gold/black towards the north. So pretty!

Very nice and calm beach. Not too many people, so you can fully enjoy the beach. The road to the left is quite close, but mostly unnoticeable most of the time. Make sure to watch out as to where you put down your towels, especially to not sit under the palm trees that carry coconuts, they do fall down occasionally.

Great little plage. The ocean's floor here for some reason is littered with huge boulders (unlike nearby Leroux or Grande Anse, that have pure sandy floors without single large rock under water), but that makes for fantastic snorkeling! Bring your diving masks and be amazed!

Beautifully designed and really well maintained! There is a lot to see. We walked the whole path slowly and with a few short breaks and were through after two hours. There are many impressive plants and trees that look like your wildest fantasies and on top there is a wonderful view over the sea.

We spent a nice afternoon touring the gardens. It was very beautiful, well maintained and we ended up having lunch at the restaurant ( which was very good). There was some signage in French and English, but mostly French ( as expected) I would recommend a visit here.

A very beautiful botanical garden. It's got this amazing waterfall in the middle and the views from up there are stunning. The flamingos add another level of beauty and you can get so close to them

One of the best Botanical Gardens I have visited, not for the range of plants but for the clever layout and overall presentation. The cafe is really excellent with stunning views, service and food. I would highly recommend a visit.

It’s a must! Nature is simply astonishing. The garden is so well maintained and the plant species are so diverse. A nice botanic travel that I recommend for individuals and families! There’s a restaurant with an impressive panoramic view as well

Spent a lovely morning (about 2 hours) walking around the gardens. Really enjoyed the many beautiful flowers, trees and feeding the fish and parrots. You purchase tickets using a machine (it’s in English or French) and pay by card or cash. Purchase food €2 for 3 little containers to feed the animals at entrance. Would recommend wearing bug spray and taking water as it gets hot and humid. The signs for flowers and trees are only in French unfortunately but didn’t spoil our experience. Enjoyed a cold drink from the cafe (friendly staff) in the shade with an amazing view of the Deshaies bay. Exit through the gift shop with a large range from jewellery to postcards etc.

One of the better botanical gardens we've been to. Very well organised, nice path to walk with lots of shade available. The cafeteria was also very good but it can get a little crowded. Highly recommended if you like this sort of thing. Good for families (we saw lots of kids) and for the general public. The walk was very easy and had excellent facilities.

We enjoyed especially the feeding of fish, parrots and goats. Place accessible for a stroller. The kids area is large, but not much to do there. The snack bar is rather simple.

Huge array of beautiful & interesting flowers, trees, and birds from tropical regions in the Caribbean and around the world. Kids were excited by an opportunity to feed fish, birds, and goats during their visit. Allow at least 90 minutes for your visit.

Beautiful botanical gardens, well worth a visit! Restaurant oversees the garden and views of the coast down below. Ice cream shack alos with a view of the coast and a few animals kids will enjoy. A path winds through the well planned and maintained garden. A luscious walk through greens, colorful blooms and tropical plants and trees... This is a fabulous and lush oasis featuring spectacular flowers, trees, plants, parrots, flamingos, and lorikeets not far from Plage de Grande Anse in Deshaies. There is also a very pleasant cafe and restaurant overlooking a waterfall and the flamingos. We took many photos and were just so amazed by the beauty and diversity of the plants growing throughout the park, many not native to Guadeloupe. The gift shop is also very nice and adjacent too the cafe we had three hours to spend before heading to the airport and that was perfect to fully experience the plants and birds and chill a bit at the cafe. Highly recommend!

Very nice, albeit smallish, botanical garden. Interesting presentation of tropical plants in a very pleasant and though-trough layout. The most impressive to me personally were the Macaw parrots, in full freedom, with their own little houses, nameplates (by individual) and all. Absolutely remarkable - bring your good camera! On the bird front, you'll also find Rainbow Lorikeets (locked up in a voliere), flamingos (free roaming), as well as just passer-bys like all sorts of hummingbirds, summer ducks, and even local chickens & roosters. The restaurant is good too, but do not rely on the waitresses' recommandations, I think they're too busy to consider what you're asking them, as we observed first hand - just figure your own thing from the menu. The kitchen looks quite proper and is interesting to watch while waiting on your food, looks like a bunch of good folks doing a good job and liking it. Overall a good experience that I recommend if you're into this sort of activity. In terms of comparison, Balata in Martinique was a bigger deal, but no parrots, so you know...

It was nice but their signage is unkind. Super weird using a British flag when they meant to use the English flag. I speak ‘British’ (Welsh) and so would appreciate the misinformation corrected. Also the large parrots in cages was super sad. Otherwise a beautiful space.

Beautiful garden! Well maintained and adventurous to walk through. The diversity of the flora was great and the flora itself astonishing. The animals were a bit sad to see though. They cut the wings of the parrots that stayed outside and despite this being prohibited, people were feeding them. There is no one present to guard these animals. The parrots in the cage, who one was allowed to feed, were pretty stressed at some moments. I think they should reconsider holding the animals this way
