I highly recommend diving with Buceo Huatulco. We saw great wildlife, including an incredible number of rays. We learned a lot from our dive guides, who are local marine biologists. Plus, the service was excellent. Buceo Huatulco made diving convenient, with transportation, equipment rentals, and all the marina and boat fees rolled up into one cost for us. We wanted to dive for two days during a longer trip throughout Oaxaca, so we didn’t have all our gear with us. The BCDs and regulators we received were in great shape. We dove four dives with Virgilio, with Cathy supporting us from the boat, which has ample cover for shade. Virgilio is an excellent dive guide. He’s friendly, chill, and supportive. He only takes small groups (five people max) and can accommodate different dive-skill levels. We are PADI Rescue divers with hundreds of dives, and we were very satisfied on a dive with divers with less experience due to Virgilio’s ability to manage that. He also knows where to dive on any given day. The bahias are sandy bays so visibility can vary. Highlights of our dives included: * many, many rays -- more than I have ever seen on one dive * a guitarfish, who we learned from Cathy and Virgilio is actually a ray. * many different kinds of starfish -- all sorts of colors * shoaling fish, large-banded blennies, hawksbill turtles, triggerfish, pufferfish, brilliant blue damselfish * plentiful coral coverage that looked healthy (can’t take that for granted these days) Virgilio and Cathy are both marine biologists and local to the area. Virgilio has co-authored research papers about scientific diving and the health of local coral, and Cathy is working on her thesis on sea turtles. Needless to say, we learned a lot about the marine ecology of Bahias de Huatulco and got great food and beach recommendations. We also had lunch with them (not as part of the tour), and they took us to some great places with fresher-than-fresh seafood. We wouldn’t have found these places on our own. As we’ve come to expect on our many trips to Mexico, the people are everything. And the people at Buceo Huatulco are no exception. They love Huatulco. They love the oceans and they love marine biology. That passion came through in our experience with them. If you are a diver in the area, don’t miss Buceo Huatulco.

I just came back from diving with Carlos and Virgilio and had the best day! Such a nice experience diving with them as they made me feel very confortable :) they are very experienced divers and I found it very interesting to talk to them about the effects of climate change and hear their view as marine biologists and environmental engieers (hope I remember correctly). We had the most wonderful diving experience with Buceo Huatulco! Planning it with Pilar was smooth and our day out with Virgilio and Carlos was a highlight of our two weeks in Huatulco. My partner is a former scuba dive instructor and I'm not licensed but they accommodated us and ensured I had extra oxygen if needed. They also had options for me, such as going down on a rope (which I didn't need). The equipment and boat were in excellent condition and the dives were lovely - first 9m and then 16m, in two different locations. We saw a variety of rays, starfish, needle fish, octopus, and to our surprise and delight, a seahorse, among other things. Carlos used a Go-Pro to film parts of the dive and that was shared with us after. Also important to us was the care they all have for the environment. They have truly good values and that shows. They spoke of the work they are doing to protect the reefs, which is admirable. We highly recommend them!

Had a great time diving with these guys. My wife is certified, but just barely. They were very patient and helpful with her. Super easy to work with. Prompt, courteous, and safe. Will be back again, and would book with Buceo Huatulco again. Also - I think they might be one of the only shop that dives on a Sunday, maybe this will help someone - helped us!

I absolutely LOVE this scuba company! This is my second trip to Huatulco, and I make sure I dive with with Buceo each time I come. Buceo is fun, caring and has excellent equipment. We met at their dive shop, signed the forms, and then headed out to the marina. On the boat, all our towels were stored in a dry area as we took the boat to our dive location. We only brought masks and dive computers - Buceo provided the rest. All was good. We once again had Carlos as our Dive Master, and was joined by Kat who is well on her way to becoming a DM. Carlos sets a lovely pace, and points out every creature - big and small. He's also very knowledgeable about the coral and the shape it's in - global warming has not been kind to our oceans! Between dives, we had a variety of drinks, and lots of fresh fruit. We spotted a whale breaching as we went to our second dive location, so the captain quickly slowed and took us as close as we could get without disturbing the whale. For the Canadians who are visiting - Carlos and Kat speak excellent English. We get caught up on the latest happenings in Huatulco, and always have a wonderful time with this amazing crew. This was a great experience. The staff were very welcoming, extremely personable and wanted nothing more than to make sure you enjoyed your experience. Our dive instructor Carlos did everything he could to make sure we were comfortable with everything that was required to be certified as an open diver. I couldn't say anything more other than if you're looking to be PADI certified this is where you should go!!

I can't say enough good things about this local business. I am so glad we choose them. They are local, Mexican, kind, passionate, patient, generous, and really wanted us to succeed. Never were we rushed or felt like a bother. The fresh fruit was perfect in between dives. I can't recommend this small company enough!! Thank you Buceo Huatulco!!

SIMPLY THE BEST! Virgilio and Kat are just great and seem to love what they do! At the same time very professional and extremely friendly. The feel was that we went out for a dive with good friends who were taking fantastic care of us. My wife was on a discovery dive and Virgilio was extremely careful and attentive with her while at the same time gently pushing her to go beyond (what she thought were) her limits. Besides that all the gear was in great condition and they brought to the boat very good snacks (fresh fruit, nuts and candy) and drinks (water and soda) for the surface time. Couldn't recommend more and certainly expect to be diving with them again :)

I highly recommend diving with Buceo Huatulco. I did my Advanced Open Water Course with Virgilio, Carlos and Cathy and the whole experience was great, I’m really glad I found them! They are all extremely welcoming and friendly, very professional and made me feel totally comfortable and safe. It is clear they are truly passionate about the ocean and love all marine life. We spotted loads of stingrays and a huge variety of fish. The night dive was incredible, we saw bioluminescent phytoplankton, turtles and lots of different nudibranch, it was so much fun! They were very patient and answered all my questions about the area, the marine life and how to improve my own diving techniques. I feel like I’ve learned a lot from them and it was a really nice way to meet some locals. A family I won’t forget ❤️

I spent three days diving with Virgilio, Tito and Carlos between 15 and 18 of june 2022. Buceo Huatulco has been a very good choice. Relaxed but very professional on the boat and in the water. Diving equipment in excellent conditions. Both, good service and good company. A lot of knowledge about local marine life and dive sites but also about the best taco options. It has been a pleasure!

Once you arrive, you will be approached immediately by restaurant staff trying to convince you to go into their restaurants. Facing the beach, walk to the right look for the bathrooms & showers & take the public path to the beach. The water was calm, lovely & incredibly clear. Be aware that in the afternoon numerous boat tours show up quickly and their customers are herded into the restaurants to be fleeced. I simply walked to a quiet area of the beach & set up my space and had an enjoyable time.

Tons of beach side restaurants of which the staff will accost you as soon as you get out of a taxi, trying to get you to come to their place. At the far left end of the beach, there's a small public swimming area where we were able to snorkel from and see a wide variety of small fish. The waves and current there were fine for swimming and our kids being in the water. Beautiful turquoise, warm water.

We snorkeled here one day, and went scuba diving further out a few days later. We had lunch here as well. The snorkeling and diving were both done on the north end of the bay along the rocky coast. Both were excellent and the best we have done so far in the Huatulco area. The lunch was another story - expensive and mediocre.

The surf had a shirt powerful break right at the beach and a bit of current. Snorkeling wasn't as good as the other beaches we visited. The restaurants accommodated us under an umbrella but getting drinks took awhile so we did not eat food. The staff called a taxi for us to return to town

We visited this beach while on a tour of the bays & beaches. Very busy beach, and the restaurants (although tasty) were super over-priced. The artisans here are selling some very beautiful pieces- look for the hand carved masks!

The place is great location with a beautiful beach. However, be prepared to buy cell service, because there is no other signal available. Also, service is SUPER slow. The food was good. We were seated quickly, but went downhill after being seated. After we finished eating, we waited for the server and the bill. We asked 3x for an umbrella and chairs on the beach. We were told people are seated on the beach only by their server. Since our server clearly was in training, there were no more umbrellas available. When I pointed out there were now empty umbrellas, we were told only the server that placed them can seat us. Apparently, changing servers wasn't possible. After about 4 hours, we moved ourselves into an umbrella. Finally, when we were ready to leave, we had to track down our server to pay our bill. Then we had to wait 35 minutes for a taxi since this beach is in a remote area. It's beautiful, but not worth the aggravation.

Went on a Wednesday for 10:30 AM, not crazy busy until 2:30 pm as we were leaving a giant tourists catamaran arrived so we missed that. Big waves the day we went, definitely needed our lifejackets to swim on the right rocky side. The left bay side was calmer and we snorkeled there. The restaurants are plenty, we pack our own lunch and drinks so we did not try any out this time. Recommend for advanced swimmers and snorkeling 🤿.

Add this place to your Huatulco itinerary, it’s a bumpy road drive up to the falls but the experience is worth it. I recommend hiring a guide and not a large tour company, the reason is a guide will give you more time to explore the falls, the tour companies will be more in a rush. Also take water shoes for a safer and fun experience.

The clear cool water was amazing! Went with our own guide Chay and he knew all the ins and out of the falls. Not crowded on a weekday and definitely recommend going here when in Oaxaca.

The 80 pesos per person they charged us when we parked the car was a surprise, but we think it was money well spent because they have made the area safe and fun for all ages.

They have turned into a Zip Line adventure park at the top of the waterfalls. It is controlled by locals so you aren't allowed your cameras beyond a certain point. They have set up a tourist trap there where you can buy the typical garbage. It's disappointing to see a natural spot turned into a cash grab. Otherwise it's quite beautiful

What a wonderful experience coming to the waterfalls. We enjoyed our time here. It takes a while to get here but its well worth it. There's a lot of curves on the road. There is a fee of 100 pesos per person. The walk down to the waterfalls is about 20 minute walk. There is baskets to dispose of you trash so olease do so lets keep these natural parks clean. Watch for snakes and other animals as we are in their home. A man with a "yellow shirt" at the waterfalls that will care and watch for your belongings he doesn't charge but will take a tip on your way out. On the way back out there is a small restaurant with delicious food for 100 pesos per person it was well worth it we had a braised beef in sauce, chicken stew, chicken mole, rice, beans and some large hand made tortillas, to drink they give you Hibiscus water, you can also purchase beer and other beverages there.

This was the coolest place we went to in huatulco. The walk up to the falls is very easy, and the water is amazing. Definitely would recommend a good pair of water shoes to climb up some of the rocks.

A nice nature tour, about 1.5 hrs drive from Tangolunda bay, offering the most refreshing dives in clear and refreshing waters. We arrived before noon, so had the place all for ourselves. A beautiful series of cascades and ropes that help you climb them up and down and also through a magical cave. Plan 1.5 hrs drive from Tangolunda or Crucesita and about 2 hrs for the walk and swim around the cascades. There is also a place at the bottom of the cascades to enjoy an authentic Oaxaca lunch.

We made it using Google maps but make sure to pre download the map prior to heading that way because your phone won't have signal. Recommended not going on rainy season since the last stretch of the road 3 miles would be a dirt road going up and down hill. I got there around 2 and left at 4 because it looked like it was going to rain and I didn't want to get stuck down there. We enjoyed the trip It was worth the drive.

Oscar tours brought us here. It was an amazing experience. The waterfalls are fantastic and a 10/10 experience. But the drive, the wildlife we saw, the lunch all made it even better. Make sure you check it out.

This is the beach of your dreams. Excellent snorkeling, clear turquoise water and so many fish. Reasonable prices at the beach restaurants and for the water equipment. We spent much of the day here swimming, eating and snorkeling. Morning til about 2pm was really quiet and we had the beach mostly to ourselves. After 2 there were more people but it was still not too crowded. Be sure to reseach the name of the beach and why it’s called entrega—interesting!

This is museum park around Archeological digs in the area, highlighting the indigenous people of this region (Mixtec & Zapotec). Temples, town & ball court are some of the digs that can be seen. There's also the spectacular views of the meeting between river and ocean. Highly recommended.

This place is a very good place to go to if you love history and invest in some really good bug spray. The information plaques are both in Spanish and English so you can more easily understand what your reading. The artifacts are quite interesting and the buildings are in quite good condition. The lookout is well worth the extra walk. My only complaint is that part of the park was closed so the loop to the lookout and back turned into a return trip instead.

This is my 3rd time visiting parque eco-arqueologico but today I did it on my own , some breathe taking sceneries the museum is amazing with the ancient artifacts and carvings it's an easy walk the guided tour is alitte pricey but very well done , if your in the area this is a definate must to see !!

The park was open but we were told that participation in one of their organized tours was mandatory to visit the park, and that there are only three organized tours a day (the next one not starting for an hour). These tours are only offered in Spanish with no English accompaniment or option. The cost for the guided tour would be “by donation” with a recommended donation of at least 300 pesos per person. We asked if there was an option to pay an entrance fee and do self-guided visit, as we do not speak Spanish, and they said no. We were also told the archaeological museum is closed with no estimated opening. It was a shame as we were really looking forward to this!

The guides offer 2 hrs guided Spanish tours over stone paths. The paths are not really suitable for walkers wheelchairs or strollers and it sounded as if the viewpoints were not accessible at all. That said, if you can physically do it, it sounded like a good tour. Suggested donation 300 pesos each. It’s about 100 peso taxi ride to the place.

Bahía de Cacaluta is in my top 3 of the most beautiful beaches I have visited in Huatulco! It is HUGE, the views are spectacular and it is very quiet, you feel like you have this huge bay all for yourself. I didn't try to swim, as the waves seemed a little big. I came there by foot. The entrance is called "Sendero Sanate - Bahia Cacaluta". There are a few parking spots at the entrance. The hike is very easy and pleasant (15 to 20 minutes max). There are many educational signs along the hike to learn more about the national park and the Sanate laguna. I saw lots of lizards and birds on the way. Apparently there are crocodiles in the laguna but I didn't see any. Maybe because it was very dry. The trail leads to the left side of the beach, you can walk all the way to the right side where you can find a few restaurants. There is no shade so be careful of the heat. I had a delicious lemonade at the restaurant to cool down a little. Then I came back from the same way I arrived. There is another trail leaving from behind the restaurants, but I don't know where it leads. When I come back someday, I hope I'll be able to swim and do some snorkeling.

The best freakin’ beach in Huatulco. If you love isolated places and don’t mind being alone on a big beach, this is your place. There aren’t many places for shelter except for the family that runs a restaurant. I suggest bringing lots of water, sunscreen, and adequate coverage as the sun here can be intense. We took a taxi here but make sure you either organize a ride back prior (no service), otherwise you will have to hike on the road back to the roundabout to get a ride. It is a 40 minute walk to the beach from the road.

Amazing beach and awesome snorkeling across from beach at the island. Water is full of jumping eagle rays, super entertaining. I don't know if it was time of tide or time of year but had no issue swimming across to island with my wife. We parked at the end of the road and took a shuttle for $60 pesos each return down the bumpy road. I walk and run a lot but had no interest in doing the buggy walk to beach. I also noticed that several businesses were open to sell food/drinks and the generic taxis from town make it all the way there as well. Totally worth it.

Nice hike to a secluded beach. Make sure to bring lots of mosquito spray for the hike or wear long clothes, otherwise they will eat you alive. There was no one at the beach when we got there. The waves were quite big and the current seemed to be too strong to swim

Worth the walk!!! Perfect paradise untouched beach. Totally secluded if you go in the afternoon. Before 4pm there are a couple catamarans that come with tourists and there are umbrellas up. The walk is long, about 30-40 min but totally worth it and shady for the most part. We saw a few friendly people along the way who helped us figure out how to get there. Make sure to bring your water, sunscreen and repellent as the path is long. We snorkeled here as well but saw many more fish at Playa Entega.

One of the best beaches I've been to! Secluded, away from the town, but not that much that it makes it difficult to go there. You need to take a taxi or arrive with your car and leave by the road, then it is around 20-40 min walk to the beach. Depending on where you leave the car it is either the "educational" path with bird watching spots or a basic road that only authorized ppl can use. Be careful as apart from birds you can meet other animal, I saw a group of 10-15 wild boars! The beach itself is perfect, small waves of crystal water, but sometimes strong current underwater, so watch out. It goes deeper that you cannot feel the bottom in about 2-5 meters already, so might not be good for children. Sometimes the boats come, and some of them stop to let ppl get on the beach for a while. I really recommend it, make sure to take lots of water and food. There are some palapas so you can hide from the sun as well, but if you have your umbrella, take it.

Beach just for watching, not for swimming (strong currents). The road to the beach is absolutely unmarked, and where there are signs they are ambiguous. Not worth it! A complete waste of time!

Great experience. Rented a boat. Visited virgin beaches with black sand. Caught a fish. Took tons of photos! Take a snack with you...

Although we never touched land, this was where we went snorkeling from a boat. I was amazed at the amount of coral and wildlife in this area. I had no clue what was under the surface of the water. I would’ve guessed sand, but it was rocky, and lots of coral. Wildlife all over this ecosystem. I do recommend not taking a tour but maybe a water taxi or a boat to this area and exploring it on your own. We also saw a humpback whale and it’s calf in the water here! Amazing trip!

Incredible beautiful beaches and bays. The water is beautiful and so clean and blue. There are a couple of bays that are nice and secluded and others full of social life and delicious food.

This huge national park is full of interesting animals and vegetation. If you don't want to walk through it, you can still see it from all the surrounding beaches, many of which are actually in the park!

Very nice. This is not a tourist attraction. It is the real thing - a preserve. It is best visited by boat. There are foot pathes and not many roads. Great beaches and a lot of wildlife.

The Bays are incredible! My problem: Today we took a snorkeling tour with the Fiestas Catamaran, and our guide chipped away with a knife on the coral to make fish come out. It was very disturbing to witness, and is one of the reasons the coral is no longer vibrant. He also grabbed a puffer fish, coral, and sea urchins for photo-ops and I don’t believe this kind of behaviour should be allowed at a “protected eco park”…Please try to work on educating the guides/ships to protect your gorgeous marine life. When I went previously with WestJet excursions, they were very respectful and ensured we all wear reef-safe sunscreen.

It's beautiful but you have to be very careful with the ocean. And it is very expensive to buy food on the beach.

Nice beaches, we sailed all around the bay Bahias. Snorkeling is a must do.

The goods for sale were of high quality. However, I was extremely disappointed to find that, after buying a small wall hanging for $5000 pesos ($400 CDN), I could have bought the exact same woven article for $1800 pesos ($146 CDN) from a weaver located a short distance away in Santa Cruz.

The work is meticulous and it’s amazing that you can see people working the way their grandparents did. I loved it. I sure didn’t clarify my words on my last comment enough. As others have said, this really is a store and not a museum, though they only sell crafts and not things like keychains or other souvenirs. A good place to get weavings, sculptures, or alebrijes, but if you walk around you'll see similar things in most of the shops, and depending on what you are looking for you may have better luck elsewhere. If you're shopping in the area though you'll definitely want to at least stop here and take a look, since it won't take long.

Si buscan comprar un recuerdito, vayan al mercado que está cerca. English for foreign visitors: If you’ve never seen crafter works from around Oaxaca, this is a wonderful place. You’ll be able to glance an interesting cast of pieces, some of them very high quality. If you wish to buy, and don’t have the opportunity to travel to Oaxaca City, for instance for some painted alebrijes, it’s a nice option, but it is way more expensive. If rather than a unique piece you’re looking for a casual typical and authentic souvenir, you’re better off visiting the market nearby. I’ve seen they also offer guided explanation on how the wool is crafted in famous places like Teotitlán del Valle, and If you can’t go there, that’s interesting as well.

Perfect diving session with Alejandro and his sons. They always making sure you're well and comfortable, helping with everything. You can feel this is a family business not a big diving center. Alejandro knows a lot of spots and you can feel he is passionate about his job! We saw many fish in big groups, a turtle, sea snake and more. Thanks again!!

Diving with Alex and his sons was a pleasure. He is very experienced and always takes care, that you feel well and save. He is super calm and has a lot of knowledge about the sea life. Although the visibility wasn't good, we saw so many nice animals. Especially a wide range of rays, so beautiful! I won't forget that tiny yellow nudibranch!

Knowledgeable instructor! He suits the dives for your skill level and wastes no time 🙂. Originally was aiming to do a couple of dives but ended up doing loads and a course🤣. Night diving was amazing with illuminesance and we experienced a number of mini caves. Photos and videos were taken and give at no charge 😍 Highly recommended.

I loved the experience. Alex and his son are extremely courteous and knowledgeable. Alex was a great teacher and very patient. He did a really good job at making us feel secure and that we enjoyed ourselves. Highly recommend them.

We dived for 2 days with Alejandro and his sons. We had a great experience. Alejandro is an excellent dive master. He is passionate about diving and conscientious about the environment. He knows the sites incredibly well and spots lots of interesting marine life. His boys were super helpful and took great care to make sure we were comfortable. All the gear was in great shape.

I had the best time diving with Alejandro! The two dive sites we went to were amazing! Saw so many eagle rays and different marine life. They even took us for a closer look at some whales in the boat. He’s very knowledgeable about the area and I love that it’s a family business. I definitely recommend diving with him when you come to Huatulco!
