Love to go there every time we visit Ixtapa, beautiful place and great food. The snorkelling is also great, the only thing I can complain about is that the boats delivering food to the restaurants are in front of each one of them, making the swimming a bit dangerous and it also smells a lot like fuel. Maybe this could be improved arranging the deliveries at an earlier time of the day before the guests arrive. Other than that, it is a great day to spend the day.

We had a great time snorkeling for the second time. The water was a little murkier than last year but we still had a great time. We chose to go without the hotel excursion, took a cab from the hotel there and back. 240 pesos and had no problems getting a table and treated very well. I’ve read reviews that people were badgered into buying food and drinks...it didn’t happen to us. We were taken right to a table and they came around like any other restaurant to ask if we wanted something. We ordered a beer and water as we were there 4 hours. The water taxi was 50 pesos per person and YES they are on to you for 1-2 peso tip before you even put a second foot on the boat. Keep in mind, these people make around 2.80 US A DAY! I am not saying I appreciate being bombarded, it’s rude since we are aware of tipping, but it happens so take some change. 🙂 We are looking forward to seeing it all again next year.

An amazing day trip! Only 80 pesos to get on the island from Playa Linda and we had a blast. Go snorkeling on Playa Coral and eat some charcoal grilled fish for a great day.

We had a wonderful day snorkeling at playa Varadero in Isla Ixtapa. On February 13, 2023, the weather was good and sunny. The ocean was calm. The snorkeling place where there are some corals is only 30 feet(10 meters) in front of Restaurante Paraiso Escondido. We parked ourselves at the restaurant based on the good Google reviews. We didn’t have to pay to rent the umbrella and chairs as in some restaurants in Playa Las Gatas. We only need to pay for the food and drinks. Their prices are competitive and reasonable. We ordered a grilled (pan fried in Mexico) fish filet and Corona beer. The total price was 245 pesos. We paid 200 pesos for a complete set of snorkeling equipment. When we were ready to pay the bill, I ran into the owner John. He was very personable and friendly. He even offered me a free drink! We snorkeled both at Playa Las Gatas and Playa Varadero. We saw about 15 different types of fishes in Playa Varadero versus several in Playa Las Gatas and the bottom was sand versus stones. There is a coral beach for snorkeling in Isla Ixtapa but there are many sharp corals and the incoming waves pushing my wife against the corals. One can easily cut by the corals. So, we gave up snorkeling at the coral beach. On a separate note, we took the collectivo to Playa Linda from Zihuatanejo center (near the Mercado Municipal) for 20 pesos and took the boat to Isla Ixtapa for 80 pesos round trip.

Really nice to take kids for a day. Choose the west facing beach (away from the coast) the beach on the other side is full of hard shells, the west side is nice soft sand. Bit of a current mind, but that made it fun for the kids being pulled about in the water

I love this place, beautiful! There are tons of make shift restaurants on both sides of the narrow island. As soon as you get off the boat, there are people on you, trying to get you to go to their restaurant. We've been a few times now, and all the offerings and pricing is similar. They bring out the fresh fish, and you pick the one you want for your group. What I really love is, you order your food and buckets of beer. You then tell them what time you want your meal delivered to you, and it magically shows up at your chosen time 🐟🍚🥗 🍻

If you cast your morals and values aside, that the dolphins are kept in tanks to small for them and go like I did, do NOT buy pictures or a video. We were on our vacation and the link was only good for seven days by the time we got home the link had expired, but they had assured us that it would be no problem to resend us the link to access the pictures and the video. It is now multiple emails and phone calls later. I have not received any of our pictures. When I got someone on the phone, they told me I had to email and give the specific date and time that our tour was so that they could narrow down the focus of the pictures. But we did get on site are so blurry they’re not even worth hanging on a wall. For over 300 $400 you would think there would be one picture that we could get that was clear but apparently not so muchI.

If zero stars was an option I would choose it!!I was booking a trip with my family right in the area and was so excited to take them here until I saw how they treated their animals. If they treat their animals this way obviously they treat their customers this way. I would never go near this place and we have since taken our booking elsewhere. Thoroughly disappointed.

Dolphins should not be used for 15 minutes of tourist entertainment. Please do not support businesses like this as it encourages the capture of dolphins. Dolphins should be in their natural habitat.

Pros..good time and water experience was great. Cons..they don't tell you the truth on prices. It changes once you get there. Front desk people are very rude. After swimming with wild dolphins I’m back to write a review. I wish I never paid to see dolphins in captivity. It makes me sick with guilt. If you love dolphins and think they are beautiful, don’t pay to have them kidnapped, separated from their families, trafficked and exploited. That’s how serial killers love not normally people.

Very very heartbreaking. Dolphins belong in the wild, not a tank or other enclosure. These mammals have perfectly evolved to thrive in the ocean, where they deserve to live freely. Captivity simply cannot provide an adequate environment for these wild species. Do not support places like this.

We just wanted to see the dolphins. The tanks are small. They claim to have "activities" that you can pay 70 pesos per person to gain entry and "view", but it turns out they no longer have "shows" with the dolphins (regulations prohibit dolphin performances). So the only things you can do are watch them swim around in their tiny tanks (sad), or pay them 1000 pesos per person to sit in the tanks and pet the dolphins, or 2500 pesos per person to swim with the dolphins. They prohibit you from taking any photos or video (want you to pay them to take them for you). High pressure to pay the extra cost to go into the water.

This is animal cruelty. They have 2 large dolphins living in a tiny pool. Anyone who supports this place should be ashamed of themselves.

Very nice experience if you bring your family! My child was quite happy. Some comments below talk about cleanliness of water, but that's quite untrue. Water is fine. Price to swim with dolphins is $800 MXN (25 min), but that's fine if you think of money is being used to feed them 👌🏼 Negative point is that prices are not posted, so you must be up to negotiate with local people. You can get pro pictures starting from $150 MXN each

Colorful area for kids and family to interact and swim with Dolfins. But it's costly for interacting and swimming with Dolfins and to collect the video & pictures from the centre. But it's just MXN 70 to see the activity of Dolfins.

Wonderful place from where the boats leave to go to the “Playa Los gatos” and “Playa la ropa”. My wife and I walked across the 2 beaches one way enjoying the amazing landscape and we had a snorkelling tour with a local guide. The food is delicious and not so expensive. I recommend this place 100% !

Excellent place to enjoy the beach and swim in the ocean. There aren’t high waves, however you have to be aware of the sudden high waves. You can rent a space to hang out and eat your own food, they also sell food and drinks there in case you didn’t bring them with you.

The water was warm, there was plenty of places to sit and relax and there was tons of great food. It's a bit crowded, but everyone is so nice, so it doesnt really matter. Theres tons of things to do on the water, but I reccomend parasailing. Super easy and extremely fun! Not to mention very cheap. I think I spent just about $7 USD for 2 people. So worth it!!

Very short drive from Zihuatanejo. As we drove past the site, we were approached by a man on a motorcycle, dressed as a tour guide. He spoke great English and showed us the site. He asked 200 pesos per person for a 1 1/2 hour tour. Very interesting historical site. The are is easy to walk...keep in mind, there is some climbing up stairs. He moved fast, but always took time to answer questions. Irving is his name. Also watched a traditional dance with fire. Ate at the restaurant across the street....excellent food and very clean. Thursday is pizoli soup...mui bien!

The only reason this doesn't get five stars is that it takes something absolutely unbelievable to me to give anything five stars and I have never given them out yet. I would happily give this 4 and 1/2 Stars if I could it's fabulous. It's beautiful wonderful story and you know what they have to wear guys yes it's a little bit hokey but spend the two or three hundred pesos for a tour guide and you will learn a great deal. That's for the museum the basketball court and the pyramid. Just terrific

If you have been to any other reputable archeological ruins in Mexico, Xihuacan is a pretty tough sell. The museum is small but nice, although the actual ruins have been very unfortunately 'airbrushed' in such a style that renders them spotless, crisp, bright....and extremely artificial, even garish. Yes, it's incredibly interesting that ancient civilizations called this area home, traded w/the mighty Aztec empire, flourished in Pre Columbian times. However, visiting other reputable ruins in Mexico will leave you wistful that the Mexican government decided to 'touch up' the zone in such an over the top manner.

Seems like a hidden site, very cool and interesting... only about 1/3 of the ruins are unburied...some of the land is private is why...hope in the future they can dig up and display the whole city..had a guide explain what everything was because it's all in spanish..

Seeing and being among such anchient places I find very enriching. The museum was nice and the guides were local people with a passion for the place and took time explaining things.

One must see place if you go to zihuatanejo, very ancient, full of uncovered places, and a nice explanation of a very different ball game, the guide Irvin , kind and full of knowledge

Wonderful experience!!! We rode the entire length of the trail - much to see and enjoy along the way including… crocodiles! Beautiful flowers, birds and butterflies everywhere, well maintained trails, and a joy to experience animals in their natural habitat

There is an amazing deep forest bike ride from the town of Ixtapa to Playa Linda. Maybe 8km.There's a bike rental shop on the bike path next to the restaurant Soleiados near the Marina. You can rent bikes and ask for a guide if needed.. Leave from there, follow the bike path around to the left, up and down a few hills and at one point you will cross the street into the "Crocodile jungle". Take the path all the way to Playa Linda. Get off your bike at the natural Croc habitat and around the corner you can feed the iguanas some mangos from the mango cart. They are friendly. Definitely bring water & pesos.

There are a few nice holes on this course and some nice views. Otherwise, this is a very disappointing course. Most of the holes need a lot of maintenance and attention, the sand traps have almost no sand, and the fairways have almost no grass. The golf carts are in terrible condition with no working brakes. I was worried about going over each bridge that it might collapse under us. Also, the fairways were pretty non-existent. The rental clubs were 20 years old and terrible and the golf cart was run down. The cost to play is $1050 mx pesos. The most people should be charged is $400 mx pesos. The staff was friendly, but truly, this course is a hazard. Palma Real Golf Course is definitely the way to go if you play golf in Ixtapa. That course also needs a lot of maintenance but it’s playable.

1st time great experience. Will definitely come back.

Getting better everyday after Hurricane damage in Fall 2013

The beach itself its beautiful and the restaurants are awesome and friendly with great food. The day we went at end by the end of July the waves were very harsh and huge, we actually spent our time there on the restaurant's pool since it was safer for smaller children. I was afraid of them swimming on those huge waves.

Playa Larga ("Long Beach") in Zihuatanejo, GRO, Mexico lives up to its name. Long, walkable, virtually empty, unspoiled beach with many small restaurants and a few rustic hotels and inns. Enjoyed the clean quite beach. Waves where strong but at one end it wasn't bad at all. We packed a lunch and ate. There are bathrooms, 5 pesos per person. It doesn't have chairs. So bring a towel or something to sit on. It is also set up for handicap, so that's really cool. We enjoyed it and will be going back again.

Nice place to stay apart from the crow, part of the sea is calm almost always, long way walking to arrive with old people or babies. You can find shadow from trees if you arrive early.

A quiet getaway, sandy beach full of palm trees, located next to club med resort makes this an excellent day trip option to enjoy the ocean on this small bay , waves are slowed down by La Isla making it very friendly fior those who enjoy open water swimming. Expect no food vendors or water sports rentals, bring your beach towel and pick one of the bushes along the beach to enjoy this locals favorite spot. Great views. Food was OK. Came cold. We were a little disappointed given the rave reviews on Google. The service staff forgot about us after they served our food. We made several requests for condiments and water refills and they just forgot about us. We also had to ask for our bill several times before someone brought it to us. Maybe it was an off night for them but this was our experience.

So glad we found this place! Food was delicious and beautifully prepared. We went twice and need to get back for more!

One of the best breakfasts in Zihua. I appreciate the gluten free options. Such tasty dishes. The ambiance was terrific. Attentive staff, beautiful space and pleasant live music. We will definitely be repeat customers.

I hadn't been to Zihuatanejo for almost 5 years. We went for a walk on the Fisherman's Walk along the bay and noticed a little bar up above the walk. We decided to take a break from the sun and have a cold one with a view. The young man at the door told us the stools were just for people waiting for a table at the restaurant upstairs. We did't realized there was a restaurant, too. We went up another flight of stairs to the restaurant. We ordered a couple of beers and looked at the menu. We had already had lunch but decided to return the next day to eat. Our first impression of the restaurant was it would be on the expensive side. They have a good selection of sandwiches and baguettes. Each comes with a small green salad, or for a dollar more you can have french fries instead. I ordered the La Madera baguette with chicken milanesa, ham, pineapple, and cheese. My sister had the Adelita baguette with a combination of meats and cheeses. While we were waiting for our baguettes we saw the waiter go by with other sandwiches including a huge Monte Cristo that looked delicious! The baguettes were so big we'r could only eat half and took the other half back to the room for a snack for later. I mentioned that it looked expensive. And, everything about the place had a high-end feel. From the staff's attentiveness to the little stand they brought to the table fored the ladies to hang their purses. Everything expensive but the menu. The most expensive thing on the menu $7.50! I have a new favorite lunch spot in Zihuatanejo!
