Came here to watch Manchester United game on tour. It was amazing. The stadium looked amazing from afar and close up even better. The security guards were very friendly of me getting a photo from where we were not allowed because of our tickets. The seats were very nice and clean as for the toilets. The atmosphere was also great. Must go here. Very nice place.

What a place!! An amazing place for cricket Lovers. It was a Match between India vs Zimbabwe. That was my first visit & The experience was unforgettable. Love cricket. Get a tour of MCG. A great way to explore the famous cricketing ground.The sporting history in this venue, is amazing. The food inside was quite reasonable. If you're in Melbourne must visit place.

Tour really worth doing, and the tour guide ( volunteer) Travis, was both knowledgeable and enjoyable. We booked on line and there was a cricket match being played when we attended. Because of the match, we couldn't go to the players room but did everything else. I don't like cricket, but I thoroughly enjoyed the history of the ground. All of the guides and staff were fabulous and a credit to MCG

Attended to watch a n Australian Rules football match. A very large stadium which is well laid out with good facilities. Large screen video is supplied to allow close up views of the plays. A great atmosphere in the arena. Family friendly. Parking is available but some areas are blocked off to allow pedestrian access need to go early. Only 44100 attended on the day of my visit so plenty of room it can hold over 100,000!

I’ve not been here for years. Very impressed with the ease of entry in covid times. Felt safe. I was there for day three of the third ashes test 2021. Magical experience with Scott Boland fielding in front of us. The only shame was 80 minutes to finish a test and we got to have lunch in The park.

Came here to watch the Manchester United Tour games. Very fun experience and huge stadium, not a fan of how far you are from the pitch and that Level 1 seating is quite flat which means anyone standing up will block the view of those behind. Would recommend booking on Level 2. Easily accessible via public transport, best to take the Metro after games as the tram come infrequently and it’s always packed.

Great stadium for watching AFL football. Only disappointment is the extreme wait when purchasing a beverage or food (up to 25 minutes wait for a drink). Serving crowds in a timely manner should get easier after a century of events hosting over 100,000 people.

The official tour of the MCG was really interesting with lots of facts and anecdotes included by the friendly and knowledgeable guide. I was last at the ground in 1996 and it has now been completely transformed, yet still retains its sense of history and tradition. Definitely worth a visit for any cricket and/or Australian rules football fans; plus the walking options from the city centre include strolling through beautiful parks or along the Yarra riverbank.

I’m American and have only seen two cricket games and yet I still loved the tour. Peter, our guide, did a great job. The tour lasted 75-mins. It moves quickly so you see everything. There is time to take pictures and our guide took some for everyone as well in certain spots if you wanted them for your group . You need to be comfortable walking quite a bit and walking quickly. Our group was a reasonable size. There are lifts and I’m sure they offer special tours for those less ambulatory.

If I could get a membership. The Melbourne Cricket Ground avails it's magic when you notice. I noticed. Now all I am waiting for is an invite. Seriously though the MCG has history, atmosphere and community. Join in you may even hear the roar.

Amazing stadium, but you already know that. View from any seat in the house is amazing and unobstructed. Great food options on site with all the stadium favourites. To avoid fighting for a park take the option to park more central in the city and enjoy the walk down the river and over the bridge that leads you right up to the stadium. If you have not been then book some tickets it is an experience of a lifetime!

The MCG and its accompanying museum certainly have a great rich history about them. There's much to see and do, and without being bias, I have to admit I had a good time, despite being a musician by nature and not the sporting type. It's a great place to bring kids and even seasoned sports fans will learn something about the processes and preparations that take place prior to each game. Believe it or not, mowing the lawn isn't the only job needed.😂

The MCG is the biggest and most spectacular sports precinct in Australia. It's such a vibrant venue, delivering one of the best sports atmospheres in the world. I would recommend visiting even if you're not a sports person as this place is all about the experience. Facilities are great, and the stadium is easily accessible via public transport. Food and drinks are reasonably priced for a sports venue.

Did a tour here and it was very enjoyable, Bryan was diligent and informative. We moved through lots of areas within the MCG and he gave different information and history for each. Would recommend a tour here, give you a chance to see the grounds without all the hustle of an event!

Although I know next to nothing about cricket, this was such a great visit. The stadium tour was really interesting, and you get to see some fantastic facilities in the ground itself. The museum is also fantastic, so many interactive elements, including the opportunity to take part in some sports too. Would recommend, whether you’re a sports fan or not. Attending a footy match at the MCG was an absolutely unforgettable experience! The atmosphere of the stadium is truly electric, making every moment of the game feel thrilling and intense. I highly recommend getting a seat close to the ground to truly feel the excitement and energy of the match. There is ample parking available both around and inside the MCG, which made getting there a breeze. Inside the stadium, there are several food options ranging from snacks to full meals, as well as drinks and coffee to keep you refreshed throughout the game. The match typically lasts around 3 hours, so be sure to grab something warm and a jacket if needed. Additionally, there are convenient toilets located inside the MCG for your convenience. Went on a tour here and it was mesmerizing to know the history and the sheer size of the stadium. You got to see different facilities behind the scenes as well as detailed explanations of everything :)

What a historic tour I had, headed straight from the airport and was able to keep my luggage in the locker space they had. Absolutely no issues. Ian was our guide and he was the most exciting person I have ever seen. He had so much energy, excitement, enthusiasm, and passion about cricket and all the historical events he shared with us was something special and most of us didn’t know. The museum tour is on your own but there are guides present as well. They will help you understand about anything you ask but it’s not limited to cricket. MCG is about everything. I highly recommend the tour.

I have been a big Taylor fan for many years; however, I was actively considering not attending the Eras tour in fear of getting in and out of the event with 96,000 people plus everyone on the outside listening in. However, I was equally shocked and impressed by: ✅How well they had the crowds moving. ✅How easy it was to get around. ✅How well organised it was. ✅How friendly the staff were. ✅How well the facilities handed the capacity.

Great stadium, huge but well organised. It was easy to get inside the stadium and find our seats. The canteen/ restaurant was big and it served food and drinks with reasonable prices. Staff were very nice with great custumer services, security guards were friendly and helpful. Toilet was clean and easily accessible. Even though there was a huge crowd of 100,000 people attending the event, we walked and exited easily. The concert of was out of this word. What a great experience we had!!!

Fantastic stadium. Well laid out with a well lit concourse. Ushers everywhere, all willing to help (unlike in North American arenas and stadiums). Large screen monitors everywhere, or so it seems. My first AFL game. Fortunately had my neice's boyfriend to explain the game to me.

The MCG is the home ground for my football team and I am so glad it is because it’s the perfect setting for a good game of football. With accessibility to all levels, beautiful views of the field, and multiple places to eat it’s one of my favourite sporting locations. If you head along on a day where sport isn’t being played you can see the sports museum which has a vast history of Australian and international sports on display. Perfect for families and friends alike for a day trip and ideal for any sports fan on a visit to the G. Staff are friendly and helpful, facilities are well maintained and cared for, and the atmosphere on the biggest sporting days is electric. Give the MCG a visit on your next trip into Richmond.

This is a great place to see a whole Melbourne city. We especially enjoyed a virtual visual section on level 1. If you have kids, you should go there. They should love it! 😍

This is a fantastic place to visit if you want a bird’s eye view of the city of Melbourne. Went with school students on an excursion in 2012, it used to be called Eureka Skydeck. It costs nearly $30.00 for an adult but there are children and concession prices available. The school students were very impressed by the building and architecture and found the views breathtaking. I also enjoyed the views from all different angles. I took several photos but could only find one that I had saved on my devices, so maybe another time on a clear day I will go and take more stunning aerial photos of Melbourne. On a clear day, it is worthwhile to go for a visit, you will be impressed. You can also enjoy dining at Eureka 89 if you have time, bear in mind this is a 5 course menu so the price may be a bit steep, but worth it. The place is accessible by transport. I went there again recently and really enjoyed the sunset taking many photos and some videos.

Amazing place to visit with friends or family. This is the highest observation deck in the northern hemisphere which is around 300 metres high. You can go up to 88th floor by high speed lift. Sunset experience is just great if you visit in the evening. “Edge” facility is also available here for daring visitors who want to stand in the glass cube 300 meters high from the ground level as this glass cube comes out of the Sky-deck.

Beautiful views of Melbourne, we bought the tickets online for $28 which is cheaper than buying at the spot. We got the basic visit only but they have different plans that include virtual reality, drinks, the edge (which is a piece of the building that moves in and out and let's you look down through a see through floor with a whole sensory experience. Found the views were well worth it, the place was not full so you could calmly have great views and have a nice time.

This is the ideal place to begin a visit to Melbourne. There are 360 degree views of the entire city (as you would expect). The really cool bit is that there are mounted telescopes focused on individual buildings and locations of note with labels. So you can easily get a feel for where places are and whether you’d like to visit or not. The elevators are some of the fastest I’ve been on and it doesn’t feel like you’re hardly moving! You’re whisked to the top and back down in what feels like just a few seconds. There’s a small cafe with snacks at the top and a photo op spot that makes it look like you’re standing up top outside. You exit through the gift shop which offers the standard souvenirs but also a cooler full of ice cream and ice cold bottles of water. Very helpful when it’s hot. Staff are very friendly and helpful. A very fun experience.

The views are incredible. If you want more of the experience, try the Edge while you're there. I did and it was pretty awesome! But never the less....The views are so beautiful. Love love love

If you enjoy good views, I’d definitely recommend spending the money on this. You get great views over the city of Melbourne. The best time to go up is around sunset, so make sure you stay to see the switch from day to night. I didn’t buy any of the extra tickets you can get (Virtual Reality Experience or pictures and co.) and to be honest, I don’t think I missed out on anything. The Deck itself even has a little outside area, where you can breathe some fresh air from the 88. level. There is also a bar up there, but as you’d expect, it is quite expensive. So if the weather is good, I’d definitely recommend going up.

Love the ambience, worth the money. You can spend some peaceful time as it's not much crowded on weekdays. Can enjoy a small snack and drink from the cafe which is quite reasonably priced. We spent around 2 hours here. People usually spend no more than 1 hour.

The 88-story Sky Tower is very spectacular and must be experienced once. Although it is very high, the elevator is very fast and can be reached in about 30 seconds. The service staff guided us very kindly. You can overlook the magnificent cityscape of Melbourne. I highly recommend it to everyone.

There is a fantastic view from top, sunny day may cause reflections from the glass to have a good view. So next time I would prefer a cloudy day. One must have an experience of the moving out deck, great experience of the extended deck is the scary view, sound effects and lighting, they give us 3 photos from the deck. But the charge is extra, not included in skydeck price

Not a complaint but You can find cheaper tickets online for some reason. This is one of the must-go list in Melbourne. From up on the Skydeck, you can clearly see all the landmarks in Melbourne. You simply cannot miss this during your trip. The picture will not lie. One advice though, visit during the near sunset hour would be perfect. You can have a pine in the bar until the sunset, would definitely loved the picture and memories!

Breathtaking 360 degree view's for miles. The edge experience is probably not worth the extra unless you really are scared of heights I wouldn't bother. We had a fire alarm activate while we were up the which everyone ignored until the staff casually rounded us up and directed us down the stairs. We didn't have to walk all 80+ floors to the ground however, at about 59 we could leave the concrete stairwell and take the lift. The fire alarm was due to some toast burning apparently. A refund was offered.

Unforgettable experience.. You get to see all Melbourne.. Breathe taking seen and a very friendly staff which makes it a better experience.. A very recommended thing to do is the EDGE I really like it.. A very different experience that you can't experience elsewhere.. Go with your friends, family... A highly recommended place for kids and students groups.

Personally I think its a bit overpriced at $30 per person for just a view. It is a nice view and the drinks at the bar are pricey yet delicious. The binoculars are surprisingly powerful and can see quite far distances, which was good fun.

The view up top is simply amazing and breathtaking both during the day and at night. It is not something that you can see unless you ride a helicopter. However, the charm of this place only lasts for a few moments. You will easily get bored of the place and there is not much activity to do after. Good thing, the National Gallery of Victoria is nearby so you can move there as your next destination. Overall, this place is nice for a first time visit. After your first time, you will not be enamored by this place as the first time you saw it. Also, prepare money for this place is not free.

An absolute must experience. Book your ticket ahead (1) cheaper & (2) faster admittance. The elevator is fast and you hardly know it is moving, but you are there in the blink of an eye. Wonderful view 🚾

Exhilarating experience! The layout is such that you have 360 degree panoramic views. There are fixed binoculars around the place that point to famous landmarks. Before you go up there are little information boards :) My favourite was the outdoor area, you could really feel the force of the wind. We also did the edge experience, which was cool but very loud. If you get in there with a bunch of kids, prepare to go def. They also play really loud sounds over the speakers (slightly louder than the cinema). Awesome views! Recommend to go sunset or during a storm :)

Popular tourist attraction. Can be busy towards sunset. Certainly worth doing, if only to give you a good spective of Melbourne's layout. The glass floor attraction is a bit overrated IMO.

Truly amazing experience. You have 360 degree panoramic view. The lift was fast ,just a few minutes at the 88th floor. The view was phenomenal. There are binoculars at distinguish landmarks to see better. Staff were friendly and have cafe shop and souvenir items .

Had a fantastic time. The views were amazing. Was able to go to the top of the skydeck quickly, and it the service was exceptional!! It is very highly recommended!!

Visited there on Friday evening. View was awesome from top, and building management was good and helpful. But to be honest, for every single thing you have to pay extra money. And even just to go on top we have paid 30$ per person which was too much money for this experience. In my opinion, it's not the value of money experience.

Great way to see Melbourne, however be mindful that weather here can change by the time you make it up the elevator. Sadly the lighting and window tint makes it really hard to get good photos, expect to see your hands and phone reflected. The Edge experience, skip it, it's over a 30 min wait to be there 5 minutes, it's not well maintained and the glass is stained. It's a good starter to see Melbourne, just skip all the add ons. Book online to get a cheaper price, there is no need to schedule.

The price is affordable. You can either bring your lunch or buy it from several cafes in there. It takes almost a full day to visit all parts of the zoo. Highly recommended in school holidays…

Great place. You can find gorillas, giraffes, Kangaroos, Tiger, 🦁, Elephants. They are preserving a lot of soon to be extinct species. This is the 1st carbon neutral zoo in the entire world. Well maintained and observed regularly by volunteers, workers. They are taking good care of the animals inside. The gorilla 🦍 rainforest was really very amazing then comes the kangaroo island. And yea the sea penguins 🐧 were also nice.

We had a beautiful time in Melbourne zoo. They have a lot of different type animals and I was surprised how big is the zoo. The best thing of the zoo is that you can watch the animals really close. Definitely a good plan for a family or any person to visit :)

A very nice place to visit when you traveling with children. The zoo is not so big but the animals are vary. We can reach the zoo just by tram, not so far from city center. Just enjoy the whole are by walk, we can see so many animals.

Fantastic day at the zoo. Place has really improved from when i was a kid. Young fella loved it. Heaps of shady areas to put down a rug and have a picnic. Food and drink is also available. We ordered the hamper for 2, must be done at lease 3 days prior to your visit to the zoo. Heaps of places to get an ice cream as well.

Such a beautiful place. Good to take the kids... the animals all seem happy and healthy. Their enclosures are well kept and I love the diversity (reptiles, sea life, land animals). There is so much to see and do here. You can become a member, which gives you access to other zoos as well, which is really handy or you can get general admission which isn't expensive.

Our family always have a great time at the zoo but more so from the atmosphere being in proximity to lots of different animals than the location itself here. We usually spend 4-5 hours on a Saturday at any given visit. There are always many animals not in sight, mostly sleeping or very far away so it can be disappointing if kids have been excited to see them. I'm not sure how much it can be helped though as you also don't want to disrupt how the animals naturally behave. The food options need improvement. Various outlets around the zoo which is great but small servings vs high prices. We prefer to pack our own food for this reason but it can be tiresome lugging food around all day for a whole family. Positives are the great open spaces for kids to run around, the carousel area is especially fun and recently we were able to enjoy our lunch break in one of the domes which was something different and exciting. The themed events that are run usually in Summer are also a fun experience for the family.

Strikes a very good balance between conservation and entertainment. The zoo is within walking distance of the CBD, and it's an enjoyable walk through the suburbs. It's also well served via the tram network. Very friendly staff and well laid out with a tremendous amount to see. It's a great day out for old and young, with plenty of toilets and places to eat and drink. I visited out of season and on a weekday (Monday, July), so it was busy, but far from crowded). Modern zoos have a difficult tightrope to balance between entertainment and conservation and Melbourne's Zoo does this well. It's great to see animals being well cared for and mostly happy in their confinement, including a couple of baby elephants. The large aviaries are excellent to walk through, yet no so spacious that you end up having to play hunt-the-animal in the enclosures. No zoo will ever be perfect, but this one must be high up on the list of good ones, and ones doing their best to make a difference in terms of education and values in conservation. The butterfly house is a must visit - tranquil, fragile beauty abounds.

Great experience, kids loved it. Everything comes off a main street so it's easy to navigate. Mornings are better so the cats are slightly more active. There is a clever orangutan who sits with a blanket on him. Cafes are decent.

Fantastic zoo! Went here on a Tuesday and there was a fair bit of a crowd, but there was no wait to enter at all. Bought tickets on-site, staff were friendly and welcoming. Large variety of animals that look well cared for. Only issue was that some animals were moved to different enclosures, so we could not see them. However, we had to amazing opportunity to see the wombat while it was awake, so that made up for everything. Food at the cafes were filling and tasted great, would recommend for families and animal enthusiasts to come here 👍

This zoo is great. There's so many animals you probably won't see them all in one day. Most areas have a covered section so a bit of rain shouldn't stop you. I would encourage you to bring your own food though as the cafes are quite inconsistent in their operating hours plus they're mostly not located around places where you have animal views. Check out the free keeper talk times on their website before your visit for added value. Parents room are decent. Locker storage available - need credit card, between $5-$10 for the first 4 hours depending on size. Wheelchairs can be booked for free, need 48 hours notice. Parking is $2 for 5 hours, so it works out cheaper than public transport for most.

The whole day was fantastic, we had so much fun. Ventured into the park with 7 year old and 4 year old. We hadn’t seen all the animals and exhibits before the 4 year old was exhausted but it was so worth it. Would go again for sure anyway. Staff were fantastic Parking being locked in for 5hours kind of sucked but that’s the councils fault.

We love coming to the zoo. It's always a fun day out. Staff are happy to chat to the children about the animals. It's clean and animals are in great sized enclosures.

At first, I thought AU$46 (adult) was a little bit pricy, but it was so worth it. I had a great time here to watch various animals and was very glad to see their good living environment compared to other zoos. They had 'Koala talk' at 11AM, and I was happy to be there.

Visited Melbourne Zoo from 11 am to 4 pm. Affordable parking at $2 for 5 hours. Explored the park twice, taking about 2.5 hours each round—perfect for a 10k step day! Loved baboons, elephants, and seals, though lions were napping. Friendly staff readily available for assistance. Ample parking, but bring your own food for dietary needs due to a small cafe with limited options during off-peak hours. Despite that, it's a fantastic tourist attraction. Solo visit, but planning to return with family. Thank you, Melbourne Zoo, for a delightful day! Highly recommended for a memorable outing with a good mix of wildlife and friendly atmosphere.

Visited Melbourne Zoo with my family today and had an incredible experience! The fact that entrance fees for kids are waived on weekends is a fantastic perk. The diverse range of animals and well-maintained exhibits made it both educational and enjoyable for everyone. Best place to go with kids and family. Very accessible via tram,train, bus or car. Parents with pram or wheelchairs are very welcome. You will feel like in tropical island to forest. You can do dry picnic too. It’s most go places in Melbourne.

Worth a visit. Decent sized zoo located in the heart of Melbourne city centre. Easy option if you are short of time but keen to see native animals like kangaroos and Koalas.

Great experience at the zoo. The zoo is immaculately clean. The layout just makes sense. Heaps of parking even on new years day. Never felt too crowded. Highlight was spotting the red pandas (remember to look up into the trees!)

On Thursday April 4th my friend Corinne & I visited the zoo. We were there for a good 4 1/2 hours. The day was splendid, so many families and children as well as tourists & just people enjoying themselves. The staff are all so informative & friendly, they all do a tremendous job looking after the animals as well as the general upkeep of the zoo. I have an annual pass & look forward to coming back during the year to explore more & experience the zoo in different seasons. We took public transport as parking can sometimes be a nightmare from what I’ve been told unless you come early to get a parking spot. We are also interested in staying overnight for one of their overnight events. I highly recommend people visit. 🐯 🐵 🐸🐧 🦋

My sister and I attended Roar and Snore with Cathy and Ariel Thursday night , it honestly was the most magical experience ever . They were so engaging and extremely knowledgeable with all the beautiful animals. We had a night walk and we saw the lions up and about. Then the next morning we went into the elephant enclosure and placed treats in there from them to find. We met the keepers and they were a wealth of knowledge it was just so special. Thank you so much Cathy and Ariel you ladies are honestly the best ,

Having visited zoo in Europe, I am not particularly impressed. For the price of ticket paid, we finished the zoo tour in 3 hours. But I liked snow leopard and seal attraction. Very very few birds and aquatic life, very few rain forest animals, etc. I would not visit again unless there is a big upgrade!

Beautiful monument dedicated to remembering Australian fallen heroes in war. Night view was impressive due to quietness and no crowds. The constant fire is also solemn. There is a visitor centre to learn more. Great location that is easibly accessible by public transportation next to city centre.

Yes, this is a must see if you are visiting Melbourne, or perhaps you live in Melbourne and not had the chance to visit. A truly iconic place to remember war heroes and also one of the top places for photographers. Take great photos, videos, panoramas. Walk right up the steps to take great scenery pictures of the CBD. This place is simple to reach, if you are within tram access, take the tram down St. Kilda road and stop at the Shrine of Remembrance tram stop. I would heartily recommend a visit to this wonderful place.

Very impressive. Entry is free of charge. There is a lot to see and nicely laid out. The atmosphere inside matched the significance of the events that occurred. You can go upstairs to have a nice lookout. I recommend visiting this when you are in Melbourne.

Always love to visit the Shrine when I'm in the city. Such a beautiful spot to take ok the vista. Well worth attending one of the talks inside and watching the sun pass over the dial. Awesome feat of architecture and a great place to take it all in. The view from the top is well worth it.

This is a sobering building documenting Victoria's participation in the numerous conflicts around the world, and serves as a reminder of the horrors of war. A place deserving of respect and built to reflect this, it was quite an unforgettable experience as you venture through the galleries, gradually making your way up to the balcony. If you're a history buff, this is a must visit place, though it may not be entirely suitable for children. There's also a balcony at the top offering a scenic view of the city and the gardens nearby. Entrance to the place is free, but visitors are free to make a donation as they deem suitable.

This place is really cool. I enjoyed the rich history of the museum and the great view from the top. Most of all, it’s free! I would encourage visitors to enter and look around. Australia’s involvement in the past wars is detailed extensively by the museum. They honor them in this shrine for their contributions. (The crypt area gave me the shivers.)

Here’s a timeline to help you plan a dawn service visit next year. Arrived for the dawn service around 5am and there was already so many people there. Roads were closed. There were two big screens playing from before we arrived providing everyone at the top a view regardless of their vantage point but there seemed so many more people down the sides of the hill too which may have been limited viewing. The Welcome to Country was at 5:30 but the main service was 6. All over by 6:30. They opened the Shrine shortly after and ushered thousands of people through so quickly. We waited to last and was still through by 7:20. We then explored the extensive museum, crypt and surrounds. The museum is next level with knowledgeable passionate people sharing information dotted around the place. It had only very dim lighting and felt like a maze. You would spend hours in here if you wanted to read through and experience everything but we left before 9 for the parade. Note a RAAF plane flyover was at 11 and I also heard they were opening the balcony at 1pm.

Actually, I enjoyed the place more than I had expected. During my studies in Architecture, I worked on a project that involved designing a memorial museum. The main objective of the project was to create a space that would seamlessly connect the past, present, and the hope for the future, which is exactly what I found inside. On another note, the entire area is huge, green and pretty. The rooftop area offers a splendid view of the downtown and occasionally you can catch a glimpse of an airplane flying by!

Highly recommend for anyone who is interested in history and architecture. Considering entrance is free, this is a must-see experience when coming to Melbourne. Easy to access from public transport. Beautiful views of Melbourne. Architecture that you will be in awe of. History that will make you reflect. You can in the building through the visitors centre and visit all 3 levels.

Absolutely beautiful. I went on the tour, then walked through the shrine. I purchased a shrine cap & bookmark, a glass with the poppies printed on it & the peacekeepers pin. I stayed for Last post service also. I went the gardens. I recommend to all to go to the shrine of remembrance in Melbourne. It's beautiful. You will learn soooo much & come home ever so grateful with so much love n respect for these great men & women.

It was a serene experience relieving the history of Victorians. Visited on a Sunday morning. The place was quite empty and we also witnessed a military ceremony to pay homage to the fallen in war. About how to reach: Tram services are available right in front of the place and Botanical Garden is just a walk away.

A beautiful tribute to the Australian Armed Forces. I walk around the shrine daily with my dog, before we walk around the botanical gardens. A peaceful place to watch the sunrise and view the hot air balloon’s that depart from Faulkner Park. Just a stunning shrine from the outside and informative and very interesting museum on the inside.

Shrine of remembrance is one of the historical monuments in Victoria. A great placement for it, amazing views all around, near to city. Nearby gardens are great for a picnic too. You can visit botanical garden which is a great place to be. You have ample of parking outside but please note it is paid till 6:30pm. However if you want to go inside you have to be there before 5pm and buy your tickets.

Only been to the outside but it is beautiful. It feels a bit like a mansion with a huge lawn. There was a good burning in a pit out front and the architecture, view of the city buildings, and well manicured lawn were all amazing.

Went on a tour around the shrine and the museum. The tour guide was amazing in explaining the history and culture behind the shrine. The atmosphere is suiting and enhanced the experience. The entry is free of charge and I highly recommend visiting for yourself.

I have been to the shrine itself a couple of times as I like to walk around the area but I’ve never been inside. It was such an amazing and interesting experience to learn about the history of war of Australia. Exploring the shrine is free and there’s audio and video checkpoints that will tell you about the history starting in the 19th century until today. There are quite a few stairs going up to the top of building but you’ll be rewarded with a nice view of Melbourne. The staff was very friendly and super helpful!

Amazing experience on Anzac day. First time seeing the march which starts in the city and walks to the shrine of remembrance. The amount of people showing respect was so special. Really great to see the younger crowd too. Respect to all the navy, army and airforce

Awesome place (in the true sense of the word) which we couldn't do justice to when we visited. I could easily spend a day in there reading how the Australians selflessly pitched in to help the UK and other allies right at the start of two world wars rather than hanging back as others did. Very moving accounts of sacrifice and heroism and fascinating historical context. I hope you realise how much you were/are appreciated.

The shrine of remembrance offers a wonderful war museum as well as stunning views over the botanic garden. There’s an eternal flame in the WWII forecourt. There’s no entrance fee but a donation is recommended. There’s a gift shop, cafe and restrooms in the visitors center. Street parking only.

One of the coolest FREE art galleries I have ever been to. Huge fan of the giant red room of paintings. It was glorious. Really loved this place. The information desk gentleman was also so patient and competent. He suggested starting at the top floor with contemporary art and moving downstairs as things get more ancient. I was a huge fan of the queer artists feature they had at the top floor. There was an amazing dance video with shiny curtains and the whole choreography was played backwards symbolizing how regressive our society is. Although I do identify as queer, anyone can appreciate how empowering it is to bring to light the struggles and voices of queer artists. Anyways, my favorite floor was the European painting floor. THE SHEEP SURROUNDED BY CROWS. Brilliant. I love art.

What's even better is that they offer free tours nearly every hour, if my memory serves me right. The guides are incredibly passionate about what they do, and their enthusiasm is contagious. They truly bring the art to life and make the whole experience even more memorable. If you find yourself in Melbourne, you absolutely can't miss out on visiting the National Gallery of Victoria. No excuses. It's an art lover's paradise that you won't want to leave.

One of my favourite places to visit regardless of your age or budget. There is something for everyone, and the stained glass ceiling is free for everyone to enjoy. The winter master exhibitions are a great draw card to attract visitors during the colder months and there’s plenty of space to park and lock up your push bike. Visiting the gallery is a great day out for a solo explorer or a nice change for a family outing.

We visited this gallery and enjoyed the art on display. There were many large classical paintings and numerous galleries. There are also some famous artists' works on display including Henri Mantisse and Andy Warhol. There are two cafes in the gallery for drinks and food. A very interesting place to spend a couple of hours.

Nice and free art museum. Free coat and bag check at the entrance which is nice since it's warm inside. We went on a weekday and unfortunately the 3rd floor and a few of the exhibits were closed to get ready for a large new Triennial exhibit in Dec.

Hands down one of the best museums around! I’ve lived here for 14yrs and it never disappoints. It’s definitely worth being a member so you can keep up to date with events and exhibitions especially previews.

NGV had a great exhibition when we visited on Good Friday. It was surprising the gallery opened during the long holiday and it was perfect for families with kids. The theme was ‘Triennial’- there were lots of artworks to enjoy. Some famous paintings were there! As always, kids enjoyed the kids section and there were plenty of spaces where we sat and rested. The outdoor area was also great for enjoying sunny weather!

Not the largest art gallery - only need an hour or so to get through it all at a moderate pace. The installations are great and the facility is beautiful. If you like galleries, definitely stop by here. It doesn’t hurt that it’s free!

We went to the museum because we wanted to enjoy our night outside. The place was nice we couldn’t imagine we were at the museum. They made good use of the outdoor space by offering a small pink “swimming pool” with a sculpture in the center. Everyone, old and young, was in the pool to cool off. The atmosphere was very nice. You can order drink or food but they aren’t cheap. You can go for the aperitive with your friends , sit on the garden and enjoy the place and the music. The DJ is at the entrance of the museum but you can listen to his music in the garden because there are the speakers.

Huge museum with lots to see. Free cloaking service at the entrance. Went for the Picasso exhibition. Simply amazing. There were some free exhibitions too on the upper floors. End up spending a good 3-4 hours here. The staff at the counter are really friendly and helpful.

This place is a Melbourne institution - definitely worth a visit! We were here for the winter masterpieces but we come down every other month. The paid exhibitions are great but the free stuff and other events are always worth while. Great gift shop, good cafes and event spaces. Definitely worth a visit!

A wonderful place to visit. Filled to the brim with amazing art in all its form. The building is amazing in itself. It is incredibly well presented. It is easy to stop to absorb or reflect on your surroundings and artwork, there is ample seating around to do this if required. I highly recommend a visit either general admission or for any exhibition event.

Came here for the last day of Triennial (well the live performance last day). Was so lovely to hear live music playing in the foyer on arrival. Really nice acoustic sound in the wide open space. Lots of interesting modern and famous art works on display. Lots of people out enjoying their Sunday afternoon basking in the wonderful works from both local and international collections. I really enjoyed the digital art. Some very confronting violent art. Decent coffee in the cafe near the gift shop.

The National Gallery of Victoria is well worth a visit. It has a capsule of all the important art, furniture and pottery. It does have a surreal element in that modern and old art are exhibited side by side. Free at the point of entrance. It's a lot to take in at one visit. I'd love to go back.

We went in expecting it to be your usual museum with vast galleries and paintings but it is very big and has 3-4 floors filled with exhibitions, art, modern and contemporary exhibits. You could easily spend 3-4 hours here and possibly more if you like their exhibits. When we were there, 3 floors of the exhibitions were free and there was a special floor for channel which requires admission fee.

A great place to visit. Everyone loved touching the water window and getting a little wet. The gorgeous colourful glass ceiling is beautiful, lying on the couches or floor looking up at the kaleidoscope of colours and patterns. Always interesting free exhibits to explore. The outside garden was fun to explore too

It is a wonderful place to spend a couple of hours within the city life.

National Gallery of Victoria is a fantastic place to visit free of cost, for arts, ancient sculptures, scriptures, cultures, heritage, books and many more. It has beautiful collections of preservation of ancient arts and cultures. I visited with my partner here a month ago and even though we are not a big fan of art, we thoroughly enjoyed visiting this place.

I'm especially fond of the overall artistic atmosphere at the NGV. The museum is moderately sized, making it comfortable to explore without feeling exhausted. Moreover, all the exhibitions are very interesting, immersing visitors in a world of art, truly a delightful journey for the soul. After viewing each exhibit, I love to stroll in the garden behind it. It's definitely worth a visit during leisure time.

Hey, this is a wonderful place. One of the best art galleries in Melbourne. there are a lot of art in it and there is a big garden in the backyard with sculptures. The most important thing is most of the exhibitions are in high standard and free.

Came here for Triennial in the afternoon and it wasn’t packed which is lovely as you can explore freely. Amaze on how clean and easy to navigate each exhibition. Awesome show called Afrocentric and nice acoustic sound in the wide open space. Lots of interesting modern and famous art works on display. Lots of people coming when we left. Best to come around 3:00-4:00pm if you want lesser people around.

Ever changing, national treasure of a museum. Free for all to admire and learn about art. Light channels all through the building gives you some great photography challenges. Cafe is expensive as expected, prepare to walk a lot. Bags are easily stored away safely at front desk, hang on well to your bag card.

Wow! 130 years old (built in 1892), don’t miss it's when visiting Melbourne. My favorite shop Tea Room also here. Enjoy the shop, environment and atmosphere. Also took a lot of beautiful photos here especially; quite touched by this historical building and thank for maintain everything.

Great stop to take friends from out of town and have afternoon tea at the tea rooms. The arcade is home to the best chocolate shop, Haighs. It also has some cute boutique jewellery shops, great little gift shops for tricky hard to buy men and more. Best to take the team along Collins Street and avoid driving into the city.

Beautiful and quaint arcade in the heart of Melbourne, off Elizaberh Street, near Flinders Street train station. Great architecture and amazing shops. Even has Dr Suess and the world's oldest barber shop!!

This place is such a Melbourne institution! Went and had a wander around Haigh's, Alessi, Le Petit Chateau, Vault, L'Occitane and more. So much to see. Brought discount Easter Eggs at Haigh's, a shirt at Vault and coffees at Le Petit Chateau. Was going to meet friends for lunch or would have looked at more. If you haven't been you must go.

The block arcade is one of a few of the picturesque arcades in Melbourne, and it embodies this idea wholeheartedly. With shops for spices and incense, chocolate and cheese, not to mention the countless cafés and clothing stores, the arcade feels both artisan and ornate. The tiling, dome and beautiful decor only add to this mood, I would say it’s definitely worth checking out, local or tourist.

If in Melbourne and love cakes, Hopetoun Tea Rooms is definitely a must! You will not be disappointed. If you can't decide which cakes to get, you can always do what we did and order 5 to 7 different cakes and ask for them to be served on a dinner plate to share, that way you can try all of them and then only eat the ones you really like. You only live once, so you may as well enjoy it!

Absolutely love this Arcade, so historic, beautiful building and wonderful food options. Such a delight to wander through. Love being there on the hour when the clock chimes and the figurines seem to come to life and play music. It's worth a visit, don't miss the spectacular Cafe...high tea, sandwiches, coffee and delicious cakes, tarts etc.

.I expect management made lots of money from the multitudinous! advertising posters they hung from the ceiling that blight the vision of the beautiful architecture. Seriously, do they have any sense responsibility for the history and aesthetics of the passageway. I'm sure they make demands of their tennant's who fulfill their responsibility so beautifully maintaining the Belle epoch style . Just visiting from Sydney and wondering if I will ever be able to view this arcade as it should be seen, or do they always abuse it this way?

The architecture, fancy shops and the beauty of this arcade should be a quick stop if your visiting. It’s a fancy walk through area with chocolate shops, modern and boutique clothing and jewelry. It’s just really cool to see because it’s unique, the shapes, glass and look of the block arcade are pretty cool.

If you are visiting Melbourne, do not miss this 130 years old (built-in 1892) market. It is a historical building beautifully maintained and always lively with shops selling spices, incense, chocolates, cheese, and incense with countless cafés and clothing stores. The arcade is one of a few of the picturesque arcades in Melbourne, and its tiling, dome, and beautiful decor add to a festive mood. I would say it again that it is an absolute must visit.

Still to many shops closed/gone after the the government lockdown, seems it will take years to recover if at all! Had lunch there in was nice but the busy times just not there!

The Block Arcade is another living example of Australia's history. Built in 1892, this classic arcade has soaring glass ceilings and the most beautiful tiled mosaic floors throughout. Filled with cute artisan shops, specialty stores, cafes, chocolaterium, fragrance store, Melbourne's oldest tearoom and a sneaky entrance into the Charles Dickens Tavern. Definitely worth a visit for both tourists and locals.

Hanging adverts look terrible you are ruining a major asset. What is the point of making all the shops have nice similar style signs then spoiling the look with adverts.

Beautiful place... most days. Many visits and it is a cozy beautiful spot kept in an old style. Just now they have decorated it with the most awfully advertisings I have ever seen, covering up the major reason to visit this place. It should be illegal! See the last picture. Shame on them.

Really cool experience overall with lots of things to see and do! Different displays and detailed explanations to match the work on display. Great activity for any age and is an overall great learning experience. I didn't go myself, but the Cafe seemed a little over priced for the products, but other than that, I had a really great time!

amazing natural history and biodiversity displays. was amazed at their dinosaur bones and insect collections. very good for kids and adults alike who are interested in nature. exhibits on the first peoples and the history of Melbourne was really interesting too. could easily spend one entire day here. free entry for students! Really nice and worthy museum with lots of things to look at. Entrance ticket was cheap $15 and very worth it. There are lots of fossils, dinosaurs, solar system, taxidermy, gemstones, insects, history of Victoria, art to look at. You definitely do not wish to miss this if you’re in Melbourne. Good place for family with kids! Expect to spend at least 3-5 hours here.

One of the standout features was the clarity of the signs throughout the museum. This made navigating the exhibits a breeze and enhanced the overall experience. The museum itself is well-curated and offers a wealth of information. Highly recommended for both first-time visitors and those returning for another exploration! Anyway, love the triceratops !!!

The kids had so much fun visiting. Lots to see, do and learn. You have to prebook the playground so make sure you do that, but trust me it’s worth it. Easy to navigate around the museum. If you do a booked exhibit (such as us with the Titanic one) it can get quite crowded.

wow! what a fantastic Titanic exhibition. also, having the museum open at nighttime was a great move. loved the dress ups, drag performers, painting classes & fan making. staff were super helpful, and easy access to everything. would recommend buying tickets in advance!

A great way to spend a day exploring. Highly recommend it. I wish the exhibits were more written with adults in mind (more detailed language, as currently most of it is written for children) however I found the experience very enjoyable. The short haired lady working at the ticket booth was a delight.

I took my 5 year old brother to the Melbourne Museum and he loved it! Just as I remembered as a little kid, there are so many things to see and interact with. We went specifically to see the Triceratops: Fate of the Dinosaurs exhibition. It was really cool and was a great hit with my brother who loves dinosaurs. He also especially loved the insect and bugs section which had all kinds of creepy crawlys. But even if you’re not a fan of bugs there’s still something for everyone. Personally my favourite section is the Australian history room - especially the history relating to Melbourne. We have a museum membership so we were able to visit the museum for free, including the triceratops exhibition. I think if you have kids and they enjoy the museum it is definitely worth considering purchasing a membership. You even get discounts at the gift shop and cheaper parking too. The museum was clean, had friendly and welcoming staff and overall we had a great time.

I went there to check out the Lego Relics exhibition, featuring astonishing displays that are truly worth a visit. It demonstrates how Lego worlds thrive and blossom when humans no longer exist, set in the year 2530. Each world has its own story and features a challenging scavenger hunt, making the entire exhibition more immersive. It's absolutely worth the money; I spent over 2 hours completing the hunt and searching for all the treasure eggs. The museum itself also has a wide variety of collections, ranging from stunning triceratops and other dinosaur fossils, rare mineralogy crystals, exquisite miniatures, Melbourne's historical recordings, to living insects.

Loved the dinosaur displays they had! Absolutely amazing! Very educational and informative. There is a triceratops that's 85% complete from the fossils they found. This is a free exhibition with a standard $15 entry fee so go and check it out! There was also a lights show (unsure on the name) that was really cool

Great exhibits, though I and my friend were there specifically for the Titanic Exhibit. There are also several cafes to choose from, the staff are very friendly and helpful, and the overall presentation of the Titanic Exhibit was nice and very informative. Overall, the museum is worth visiting and exploring.

We went to explore the Titanic exhibit and found it to be very informative and amazing. There wasn't much of a wait to get in, but in the rooms they felt a bit compacted by too many people exploring. But I know that is to be expected as the exhibit was in high demand. We have been to the museum numerous times throughout the years and we roamed around again feeling the same excitement as previous years. Now the Cafe in the museum I personally found to be extremely overpriced for what you get. Overall I loved the experience of the Titanic exhibit and the general exhibits but will definitely be bringing my own food when we visit again. 😊

This is one of my favourite places to go with kids. Always so much things to learn and explore. The children's gallery is always a must. Kids love it. The triceratops exhibition is amazing. Everything is so well made and displayed.

This museum is huge and has so many interesting exhibits to explore, from exhibits about dinosaurs, to animals & nature, to planet earth, to media & arts, to Aboriginal culture and MORE. You could probably spend almost a whole day here. I can't fit my whole experience into a Google review, but here are some of my highlights: 🔸️ Today was 'Dress as a Dinosaur Day', so there were so many kids dressed up in the cutest dino costumes!!! My favourite was a kid's who made their costume out of cardboard. 🔸️ The dinosaur bones displays gave off "Night in the Museum" vibes. Very cool. 🔸️ There were several enclosures containing live insects, amphibians and water creatures. It was so fun watching them move around! 🔸️ The videos about endangered animals and conservation efforts were super informative and interesting! I loved watching them. 🔸️ There was an exhibit featuring the art of EXTREMELY talented students. This exhibit encompassed many types of art forms, including media, product design, audio engineering, studio art, etc... I particularly enjoyed watching the students' short films and animations. Man, they are talented. Thanks Melbourne Museum for the wonderful experience :-)

Strongly recommended to visit if you are staying around Melbourne! The way they exhibit is unique and interesting. They exhibit not only bones, stones but also alive insects and fishes. There are plenty of species and variety of specimens. Of course children can enjoy the exhibition but adults also can enjoy it. A$15 entrance fee really worth it!

The museum was great. I found it a lot more interesting than going to a place like the zoo as everything is there on display and won’t move unlike animals that run away. The garden/forest was nice and I found it quite soothing moving along at our own pace. Tickets are for the whole day and you can leave to get lunch and then come back in. Great experience.

Interesting museum for kids and adults. I loved the dinosaur bones section. They have several quite complete skeletons (don't ask me to name them 😅). Watch out for the Forest Gallery in the middle of the building. Good place to take a break and look out into beautiful Australian flora. Also interesting exhibits and artifacts from the early Australian days. The section on First Nation weapons, jewellery, daily equipment was interesting too. The grounds outside the museum was beautiful. Have time to walk around too.

Absolutely incredible museum. Lots of cool stuff to see at this museum. The titanic exhibition is absolutely amazing, lots of memorabilia from the titanic, the replica of the staircase from the titanic is very much like the original one from the titanic, the iceberg there was really cold, just like how it was when the titanic sank, very awesome exhibition. Everything else there is also awesome. The dinosaur fossils are very awesome, the stuffed animals are very life like, just an incredible experience going to the museum, I absolutely love it, will definitely be going back to see more.

Nice place for education and community. We went to there for Titanic exhibitions, and that was amazing. There ware many people but orderly. We also went to dinosaur exhibitions, it was cool and suitable for kids or someone who likes animals.

Such a wonderful immersive museum, can't believe we haven't visited sooner!!! Went to the First Peoples and Titanic exhibitions with the high team and the experience was nothing short of spectacular. Staff were so helpful and friendly, vegetarian option for the Titanic high tea was phenomenal. Go early and book online to ensure you get in and avoid lines! Can't wait to visit again so we can see the rest of the museum! Could definitely spend a whole day there and it was so fun and educational.

I planned to visit the museum for the Titanic exhibition but tickets were sold out. General entry cost AUD 15 for the museum's ordinary exhibition definitely worth it. There are lots of dinosaur skeletons and many different types of animals and insects to see . Also many beautiful mine stones and crystal are shown and there is also a forest garden. I spent 3 hours here and enjoyed very much.

A "free day" and a day that co$t nothing except our time, curiosity and interest. Relocating to Melbourne after 36 years, the exhibition about the early history of Melbourne was very interesting indeed. The outdoors garden was great, too. Ofcourse we will return

Amazing museum! My family of 2 kids and 2 adults had a blast looking at all the exhibits. There were some staff who would also take the time to answer questions. The price to enter was also reasonable. For muslims there is a meditation room inside the building if you want to do your prayers.

I went to see the Titanic exhibition which was fantastic. My only issue is that too many people were in the exhibition at once and this made it difficult to see or avoid going shoulder to shoulder with other people (the only reason I gave this review a 4 star instead of a 5). I had a look at some of the other exhibitions and particularly enjoyed seeing the real triceratops skeleton! The staff member in that section was very knowledgeable.

A beautiful place to visit to learn about precious stones and metals, animals and insects. I visited the children's centre, the science museum and the gift shop. Their staff is great, the environment is serene and enthralling and the air is very clean and crisp. My toddler and I enjoyed the visit. Thank you.

Very busy, as being school holidays, there is alot to see and do. Recommended you buy your tickets in advance. Check for feed times to ensure seeing them, sharks, and stingrays currently getting refurbished. Cafe 9r food is reasonable, staff are excellent..kids activity packs available at the entrance, shop on the way out..easy accessible from the tram lines or train station.

Super cool, lovely for families with small children as there are lots of interactive displays and fun experiences to keep them entertained. The 4D movie may not be suitable for smaller children as the shaking seats and loud noises might frighten them. Unfortunately the shark tank was closed for maintenance and won’t be opening until 2024 :( There are a few cafes inside the aquarium but they are quite pricey so i’d recommend bringing your snacks with you.

Over all me and my family had a very good experience.. It is actually value for money. Staffs are friendly. The guide explains each and everything. Kids love this place. One time must watch.

I had lots of fun looking at all the different animals and sea creatures. My favourites would be the penguins, frogs, turtles, and jellyfish (so pretty to look at) and the little rays. It's very interactive and easy to find your way around. The 4D cinema was an interesting experience. Loved it!

Fantastic aquarium and worth the money. We spent about 2 hours exploring and definitely felt that we received great value for the ticket. The jellyfish, stingrays, and sharks were the highlight of my trip and they had beautiful enclosures. The only downside was the penguins. They are gorgeous animals to watch but the enclosure felt a bit grim. I understand it is up to standard for animal welfare, but seeing such gorgeous creatures standing on blue plastic mats within concrete walls was a bit sad and it seemed like they are lacking enrichment. Even if these animals have never experienced their natural habitat I feel more effort could be spent in enhancing the enclosure. That being said they did appear healthy and well cared for. Overall would visit again and do recommend people visit. But if you are only interested in the penguins then perhaps it is not worth the money.

Sensational experience. There were a lot of people when I visited today. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the layout meant we got great views of all the displays. The displays were creative and informative. The short movie was wonderful - enjoyed by all three generations in our group. A wonderful way to spend a few hours.

Cool place to go to with the kids, we go every couple of years. Good size & you feel like you've had a good outing by the time you walk through.

The experience was so great,my daughter was so happy. The only cons I can say is that about the way to the Penguins area there was no clear signage directing where it was if my daughter didn't ask where she can see the penguins we wouldn't have a clue. Over all it was a great experience.

Sea Life is a Southern Ocean and Antarctic aquarium. "a few aquariums". It has such incredible features. (various effort have been made) It is planned out until the end. The layout was easy to follow 15 theme. It was enjoyable and Staff were Great. ➀I find penguin lovely🐧. ➁jellyfish are pretty.🪼(you can take a peek into the jellyfish laboratory) ➂there are tons of sardines. ➃sea horse ➄octopus ➅shark🦈 ➆turtle🐢 etc. "Amazing place to visit"

first time visiting sea life in melbourne but i had an absolutely amazing time. great way to spend a few hours and see all the glorious animals. worth going on weekdays because you get a 20% discount. the happy feet 4d experience is worth it as well, as well as the penguin encounter. gift shop has a lot of awesome tidbits to buy on the way out. definitely gonna go to the aquarium again.

The big underwater tank has just reopened. It's still pretty young and new, the fish will still grow I think as some of the sharks are fairly small compared to what used to be there before the renovations. The croc looks bigger! Is it the same one from last year? Overall, always fun for the children. After 3 laps of the place though, the adults were done but the kids could've gone around another few times 🤪🤪🤪

Visited over the weekend with my two young children booked for a 9.30am slot. Line was long to get in but moved smoothly until the line for the sealife photos. Even if you don't want the photos, you still have to wait in the cue, which was not managed by any staff, despite there being two lines and people cutting in. Once you are past this, you are able to move around the exhibitions freely. Unfortunately, as someone with a baby in a pram, this was extremely difficult as numbers are not capped and every walkway is narrow and difficult to get past. To move between floors, you have to wait an extremely long time for a tiny lift for pram access or risk it going up and down the stairs. Anywhere there was a ramp, you could not get past with one in each direction safely. Majority of the exhibitions were great, but we noticed a fair few were missing animals or under repair. Additionally the 4D cinemas was closed as were the rock pools. It's a shame that it is allowed to be so crowded with people on the weekends as it makes accessibility really difficult and as someone who doesn't have the option to come during the week, it makes for a disappointing family day out when people are pushing you around exhibitions. I believe this would be a great experience if they had staff on the floor to manage how many people can be in and out of certain areas, not only for comfort, but should there be a need to evacuate, you would have a stampede of people and injuries would be likely. It was also disappointing to find that every single baby change toilet the nappy bins were overflowing with nappies, yet we had only been inside for less than 30 minutes from when they opened. I would say the bins had easily been neglected from the day before and the smell was revolting. I recommend visiting, but with no pram and during the week as you would not have to endure the chaos of the weekend visit.

It's ok. Loved being able to take the kids. It was clean and the attractions are pretty cool. There's not much in the way of food in the cafe, probably the most disappointing part. It was pretty packed and getting around a little frustrating. (Not all the aquariums fault, some people just cant/don't read signage)

Amazing place to visit with family specially with kids. My son loves to see the penguins fly (swim) in the water and chasing each other. 4D movie was bit scary to my son but overall experience was great. Better to buy ticket in advance if you visiting here in school holidays. Apart from bit wait time for the tickets, there was no hassle to go around the aquarium. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

This aquarium has a large variety of aquatic animals. Don't go during school holidays as it will be packed. We visited on a weekday and there was hardly anyone there. Displays of note: underwater tunnel, jellyfish display, coral reef, penguin enclosure. I also particularly liked the gift shop.

Great experience at the aquarium. Lots of fun and interesting stuff to see, especially the penguins and the jellyfish exhibits. A little manipulative with the price of the photo album at the end but it's a very popular tourist attraction and well worth a visit if you are just touring around Melbourne.

What an amazing experience for the whole family. Learned so much, the kids absolutely loved it. A must see for anybody living or visiting Melbourne. So many gorgeous and rare animals. Will definitely visit again. Sharks were amazing and huge. The penguins were so playful. No boring exhibits and the staff are so helpful and friendly. One of the best places I've been to.

Even though it was a public holiday (around easter) and it was super busy we were able to get in no worries at all and no wait time as well. It was super busy but it's so big it was no hassle at all. Tickets are a tad pricey but we spend well over 2 hours in there so it was worth it. This was my second time visiting and I'd happily do it again. Such an amazing experience, so worth it!!

Beautifully set out in 15 different areas. Lots to see and explore. I really like how the exhibits are interactive with kids and adults which adds to the experience. The exhibits are well maintained and I interesting. The help of the computer screen also adds to the overall experience as it highlights the Marie life you are looking in at each exhibit. Really enjoyed the 4D movie as well. Would highly recommend anyone to visit one off the best aquariums I see.

I have visited sea life for the first time with my partner on weekdays and it was worth visiting, it was an amazing experience to see so much of sea life and creatures from tiny to large creatures. Apart from seeing sea life there are tons of activities to do at this aquarium, it is best for people with kids, it will be an beautiful experience for children's. Must visit place for everyone at least once.

I recently visited the aquarium with my family, and it was an outstanding experience! The diverse range of marine life showcased was breathtaking, and the interactive exhibits added an educational touch for both kids and adults. Penguin area was really fun for kids including 4D movie for kids too, crocodile area also added to the fun. The staff's knowledge and enthusiasm made the visit even more enjoyable. Clean facilities and well-maintained tanks added to the overall positive experience. Highly recommend for a family-friendly outing!

I love aquariums. I have been to aquariums all over the world. When I heard that Melbourne had spent all this money on a massive multimillion-dollar rejuvenation and after never having visited Melbourne's Sea Life Aquarium, I was excited to check it out. Sea Life misses the mark here and it misses it CONSIDERABLY. If no one had told me that Sea Life had undergone a renovation, I would never have known by what I saw inside. It's not the selection so much, it's the presentation of what they have. Dim lit areas. Dirty and seemingly rushed features with no thought or research internationally to see what other aquariums offer. As I walked through, I found myself increasingly disappointed and therefore decided to walk a little quicker just so I could get to the gift shop. What you will be met with here is an overpriced pocket hit with poor-quality items. Melbourne can do better. If you're planning a trip here, save your dollars and invest in a nice family walk through the gardens. You'll thank me for saving you the time and money.

The variety of exhibits is not particularly great, but the quality is good. Animals/Fish appear healthy and well taken care of. Information on display boards are informative and exhibits are neat and well maintained.

great aquarium! went here once before during the renovation— so it’s great to see that all the big fishes are back! ① the queues are a bit confusing, there’s no clear indication which queue is for which ticket. would be great if that’s established! ② while we didn’t go in with a pram— we felt like some of the spaces in the aquarium is too narrow for prams. we kept getting hit by prams because of how narrow the space is, and it took away the experience a little bit because we had to focus on not getting hit instead of looking at the sea creatures. would be great it the area is widen up or arranged in a way that parents & their children can freely walk with their prams. ③ also, we wonder if the water is murky or if it's the glass? can't really see the big fishes unless they're swimming close to the glass. ④ the layout of the aquarium can definitely be improved too— it's hard to navigate in some areas. we actually were walking at the cafe area in circles for a while because we couldn't find the next area. it was still an enjoyable experience nevertheless! we hope that our next visit will be a more pleasant experience.

Highly recommend visiting this place and doing the Watch house experience too. There was no wait to enter for us, 2 people. Basic entry to the gaol is $20 pp for adults, with the watch house guided tour it is $30 pp. You can't access the watch house by yourself, I think the 30 min guided tour on top of exploring the gaol yourself was worth it as it was quite different to what you saw in the gaol. It was very interesting to see how everything was operated, sometimes it was quite eery seeing some death masks and ropes that people have been hung with. There's a lot of information about Ned Kelly too. The gaol has 3 levels, you are able to go into cells on all floors with a lot of displayed objects and information plaques in most of them. What caught my eye the most was all the word/sentences carved into the doors and walls by the inmates including German war prisoners. Very interesting place and a heritage protected building, so be respectful.

It was a brilliant place to visit while on holidays in Melbourne. Some great authentic history that you can get up close with. Just cross your fingers a hoard of school children aren't let loose while you are there, had to wait for them to leave to take some nice photos.

Loved the tour. The history and stories told by the guide/sergeant were informative. Kind of an eerie feeling knowing the type of people housed here. Very historic place for Melbourne and a great way to spend a few hours.

Had a nice time. Most of the cells are open and they have quite a few stories of the people there. Second storey has stories of the women and children in the gaol which were haunting to read. Third storey was mostly filler, especially if you had studied history. Loved it though.

Been here many times and each time i come back something further has been added - additional tour or events. Great activity for families. I booked ahead of arrival to attend 'Women in the Criminal Justice' tour ran over the school holiday period. Tour guide was knowledgeable and shared interesting stories about the women's wing and prison life. Small gift shop available at the end of the tour. Wished that they stocked books on women's experiences in the Old Melbourne Goal though.

Very old and historic building! They were impressed by what they saw! I recommend to visit, and you will remember it for a long time.

We liked our visit to Melbourne Gaol. We spent an hour doing a self guided tour. The information in the cells is very interesting and informative. It was a great experience but it was ruined by the loud music next door. It was very annoying and distracting. We would have done the watchtower tour but the music put us off doing it.

Great place. Needed more time here so I could have read all the information in each cell. Recommend also doing the watch house lookup.

Brilliant experience. Great for kids to learn the dark side of our history. Your ticket gains you a tour of the Magistrates Court next door, which has just as much historical info you can gain.

interesting to see the history of the goal and take a look at the magistrate’s court! the tour of the court was fun and the guide did a really good job explaining the history of not just the goal and the court, but also the buildings surrounding the goal! lovely experience. a lot of things to read and see in the goal itself, so expect to stay for around 2h.

A historical must-see in the center of the city. Once you pay the entry fee, you’re greeted by the cavernous jail and able to roam across 3 levels of cells. Many cells are opened up so you can enter and view numerous exhibits. Not pram friendly but certainly do-able with a 2 year old who likes to climb stairs. There’s a nice courtyard outside to sit down. I suggest doing the tour as you learn so much.

The staff were amazing. They had two events on during the day. One being a cluedo tour, which is a self-guided tour through the main cell block, whilst solving a mystery. The second was a group tour through the guard house, with guides. These tours were highly informational about the gaol, and the staff were very easy to talk to, whilst easily answering questions along the way. I recommend this place for those who love history and/or mystery.

I visited old Melbourne Gaol on Sunday. It was fun and informative. It would take you approximately 2 -3 hours to properly see it. By the way Ned Kelly's armour us a replica. The original one is stored in State Public Library of Victoria (just beside the Melbourne Gaol)

An epic look back into our not-so-distant past, the Old Melbourne Gaol is well preserved and well presented. You can wander through on your own or join a guided tour for an extra $5. Souvenirs and snacks were reasonably priced. Check out the hanging area.. it's not singposted but there is a rope hanging from a beam above. I asked a National Trust volunteer and he told me the history; there were 51 people hung there including women, and 11 more after the beam was transferred to Pentridge prison. It was eventually moved back in place in I think 2002? The place is scrupulously clean and you can go into and spend time in the cells on your own. A must for history lovers.

Great museum, with lots of information. It is also pure Victorian architecture, which makes it kind of unique! I recommend to take the guided tour, because you get a lot more details on life in prison, Ned Kelly and how the prison worked from the guide!

We enjoyed an informative tour around the exterior of the gaol and then wandered around inside. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. We were freezing within the confines of the cells, so goodness knows how prisoners survived winters. Went for my second visit across 30 years. Both tours were good. I think I enjoyed it more today looking through more mature eyes. Really well run, cost is reasonable, informative. Staff friendly and approachable. Certainly worth a visit while you’re in Melbourne.

My visit to the Old Melbourne Gaol was a haunting and eye-opening experience. The dark corridors and cramped cells provided a stark reminder of the harsh conditions prisoners endured. Learning about the historic executions and infamous inmates left me with a deep appreciation for Australia's convict history. Highly recommend 💯

Really interesting and authentic. So much information shared, painting a vivid picture of how rough life was for so many. I'm grateful my life has never put me in a position where I could end up in jail. The gold rush obviously had an extremely negative effect on women and children left behind.

Very interesting visiting the Old Melbourne Gaol, we started with the escape artist tour around the outside of the building. Interesting to hear about how much it's changed over the years up til present day. Then we walked around the inside, there's a lot of reading to do but all with interesting stories. Children may get a little bored. I would recommend doing a tour if you want to learn a little more

Great to have such an historic site so easily accessible in the CBD. Reasonable price, allow an hour or so to allow to take your time to read all of the historical exhibits. We also took the escapees walking tour which gave a very different perspective. Not too much walking and Los of spots to sit and listen to the tales. We enjoyed our afternoon a lot

We did the self guided tour, and at $35 each thought it was a bit pricy. As it's only the main cellblock, all other buildings are used by the uni or demolished. Some information plaques outside would be good. It is an interesting building to walk around, with death heads and dioramas to look at. There's only the stairs, so if you have mobility issues, take that into consideration.

The backbone of Melbourne & its history all explained and laid out for you to discover. The history and story's the Old Melbourne Gaol tells as you explore the cells and yards where the prisoners were kept. It's amazing. Sitting in a cell knowing that there were people kept there of very 150 years ago is amazing. The architecture of the 1845 building and the workmanship is astonishing. It's an excellent way to fill in a few hours while in Melbourne or ever just pop in for a quick squiz.

It was great to see and learn about the gaol in Melbourne. It may be insensitive, but the design inside was cool, like steampunk. Also, in the small cells, you can read brief life stories of people who committed crimes, which was very interesting.

The Melbourne Gaol was a fascinating place to visit. Very interesting and full.of facts, we did the watch house tour and the Sargent she was really good in character and answered our questions. It's not fancy but a part of history, imagine what it was like in the 1800s and to think the last hanging was in the 60s!! CRAZY!! Staff were super helpful!!

This is a cool place to visit, a lot of history and stories across the jail cells. A lot of good artifacts. I gave it 3 stars because I didn’t think it was worth $30+ per adult ticket. It would have been cool if they had a light and sound show. If you do visit, don’t forget to download the application which is free and listen to the voice guide along the way.

Great outdoor space for catching up with friends and family. They also host a range of international festivals. Fed Square is just across the road from Flinders Street Station. There are a few toilets at Federation Square. The most convenient one is the one next to 7-11.

Went to see 2024 Buddha's Day & Multicultural Festival this weekend, with an immersive fireworks and lights display running on Friday and Saturday night, and is free for all to attend. Fed square itself is an abstract building flanking block-size plaza, filled with restaurants, museums and arts venues. Just in front of Finder train station.

Great place to visit when wanting to go for a nice walk and enjoy the weather. The set up is quite nice, they have placed loungers around the area for people to just relax and and appreciate the surroundings. However, There could’ve been more chairs for people. Lovely area to take the kids to have a little run around or take a stroll along the Yara River.

Always good to visit Fed Square with those gorgeous Kimberley stone tiles and Ian Potter Art Gallery. Restaurants and Gift Shops, Koori Heritage Trust.

Great outdoor space, lots of seating to have a meeting or eat food. Surrounded by cool galleries and museum type places. Will display sporting events when relevent. At other times there can be performers and musicians. Some small street food stalls are within throwing distance of main square. Currently lots of construction on the north western side.

There are always something happening at Fed Square. Sports events on the big screen or singing and dancing on the stage. This week there is the 'Rising' event in Melbourne and there is a light show at night till 10 June. There is the ice skating rink down by the river and across at St Paul Cathedral, there is also a show like an 'animated moving wall' and at the Melbourne Concert Hall, colourful projections on the wall.

Federation Square is a place open to the public, there can be presentations of all kinds, a giant screen for sports, stage events, and it also shares a place with good entertainment venues and its museum that you should visit. It is the reference point for everything. In December visit its giant tree with music and its spectacular decoration.

Was in the city recently seeing some theatre and on the way back to Flinders Street we went on a detour through Fed square and saw the Christmas light set up. They've got music and lights and activities for the kids, would recommend coming to see it if you're in the city during the holidays

Such a beautiful and important building steeped in history and cultural importance. You could easily spend a whole day here even if you weren't planning on reading any books! There are multiple study spaces, reading rooms, exhibitions and even a dedicated children's area. The Ned Kelly armour is presented very well and the layout of the Jerilderie letter is worth a read. A visit to the Dome is a must and looking down on the reading room is inspiring! There are regular exhibitions which are expertly curated and presented. Free to visit and in the centre of the city, not to be missed if you're in Melbourne visiting.

THIS IS HOW LIBRARIES SHOULD BE. If I am living near the area, I would always stay in this place and just read and read. This library looks like something that is taken out of a Harry Potter Novel. It is just majestic and awe-inspiring. Most importantly, it is easy to visit this place, just ride the free tram and walk to here. It is definitely worth the visit.

We visited this beautiful library and enjoyed our visit very much. Besides the dome area, there are several other library sections, including art exhibits. The dome area not only has grand architecture but also well used old chairs and tables. A must visit in Melbourne.

I spent hours just wandering around, browsing the shelves and soaking in the atmosphere. They have such an incredible collection, from historical documents to modern bestsellers, and everything in between. I even stumbled upon a special exhibit showcasing some of Australia's literary history, which was fascinating. But beyond the books, what really struck me was the energy of the place. There were people of all ages and backgrounds, quietly reading, working on laptops, or attending talks and events. It felt like a true community hub, a space where everyone was welcome to learn, explore, and be inspired. Overall, my visit to the State Library Victoria was an enriching and memorable experience. Whether you're a bookworm like me or simply someone who appreciates history and culture, I highly recommend checking it out. It's a true Melbourne gem.

A beautiful old building and can see why people have functions here. A lot of places to read or study and though all quiet, some less formal than others. Asked staff member at entrance if they conducted tours. She said no. And further in I see sign, gather here for tours. Of course. Also nice gallery area, a room devoted to Ned Kelly and an exhibition on how we have changed focusing on equal rights, the 8 hour day and because this is Melbourne, coffee!
