Fast and efficient way to ferry-travel between Papeete and Moorea. Crossing took less than 30 minutes each way. Clean vessel with air conditioning, rest rooms, snack bar with hot and cold food selections and table seating in dining area. Multiple decks for passengers, cars, trucks and bikes. Two adults for a round trip will set you back about 60 dollars US ( 40 for seniors over 65)

Great on time ride, I was stressed and hot, the kitchen was above average and the air conditioning very cool and welcoming. Plenty of space to sit, and after cooling down and finishing breakfast great upper level deck to see the beauty of the islands.

I highly recommend Aremiti. We did not have a ticket and I was able to purchase the tickets needed over the phone with an agent. We did not know the schedule or any info. She was able to send us a link to purchase round trip tickets. The boat is comfortable and driving on with my rental was easy and the crew kept everyone well organized.

Great mode of transportation between Tahiti and Mo'orea. Tip: I found it easier to just go to the ticket office and buy our tickets. I tried online and was able to get tickets, but unable to schedule the day/time I wanted to use them. The people working the ticket booths are very friendly and helped me out greatly. FYI - you will need individual passenger tickets and a separate vehicle ticket if bringing a car.

This was a very nice ferry with air conditioned passenger area, snack bar and clean restrooms. Includes vehicle transport on lower deck. If you have a choice, this is the ferry to take.

Clean ferry there is food and ample seating if you want up top or in the cafe area or just in the passenger area. Most speak French and Tahitian but they can give u some English instructions. Buy tickets before you go get there 30mins before departure. Once inside line up as they direct then when the boat comes drive on board. Make sure to lock the car and enable the emergency parking brake. Then walk upstairs and enjoy the ride.

They have two nice ships; the crossing with the bigger one takes slightly longer. The vessels are very clean and noticed the crew clean the passenger areas after each crossing.

Quick way to cross from PPT to Moorea. Be careful as Moorea to PPT is more than twice as expensive as getting there. They have a car ferry which is easy to use and convenient. Hertz gets you a discount if you bring your rental agreement. Ferry was clean and had clean bathrooms. There is food aboard if you need a snack, but it's only 30 mins to cross. Passengers cannot ride in the car onto the ferry (only the driver). Be sure to go up top for at least a few minutes for some great pics!

Big boat that transports your vehicles and family. Affordable food on board and comfy seats. The top is very windy and sunny but you have a great view. Inside there are sears next to blurry windows and some seats with tables. The staff was nice and made sure everyone got on and off safely. It's only a 30 min rocky ride but very enjoyable.

An easy and quick trip to Mo'orea or Tahiti. There are tables and seats, railings, and bathrooms that never seem to get cleaned. There are also snacks you can buy in board (at least for sure on the larger ferry). There's two different ferries, so pay attention. The smaller one takes 20 mins and the larger is 45 mins because it also takes the cars. The staff is friendly and helpful though. Could use more organization regarding getting bags off the ferry. It's a free for all in a massive crowd.

Papeete Market is the place to go for culture and all things made in Tahiti. Best place to buy authentic Tahitian Pareos, oils, and crafts.

We had an enjoyable time looking through all of the local made goods - bags, pearl jewelry, fabric, wood carvings and more! Also a great spot to grab a bite to eat and some fresh produce!

We had a few hours to kill before our ferry to Moorea so we walked over from our hotel. Hours everywhere online were slightly wrong so we wandered a bit more in the area for 30 mins. When it did open you could tell that a lot of the stalls were still getting up and running, which was fine with us! Lots of fish and fruit stands. A few bakery spots along the sides. Upstairs is a cafe that wasn’t open yet so we didn’t get to have any coffee. Grabbed some baked items from one of the stands and it was all delicious! The banana bread pudding and banana empanada were our favorites. Also a few places selling pua roti, the Tahitian version of char sui pork. Some had long lines and smelled delicious but we had found a tiny hole in the wall a block away also selling some so we had our fill. Only thing we couldn’t find was fresh baked plain baguettes even though we saw people walking around with them!

Fantastic local and tourist market in the centre of Papeete. Lots of local pearl jewellery and artifacts. But also fruit and veg and fish. Lots to eat and drink. Highly recommended.

This is the best place to shop out of all the islands although when asked I tell people the area is like a cross between Tijuana and Honolulu. I've been coming here for over 40 years and the shopping and restaurants are great, but the city is poorly maintained and quite frankly smells bad. It is also closed on Sundays. We only stay in Papeete a few days and spend most of our time on the outer islands. One recommendation is the food trucks at night are really good and reasonably priced. Also, stay away while the cruise ships are around if possible.

Great 👍 place to shop for souvenirs. Our trip is ending now and walk all over Papeete downtown to look 👀 for souvenirs but came back here because they had everything we were looking for and at a great 😊 price. I bought myself a necklace and 2 earrings for gifts 🎁 and a cute 🥰 Tahitian statue made of lava rock 🪨.

Good market with lots of decent food from the stalls for low prices. I tried the crèpes, and a sandwich that worked out to $4-5 each. And? They even had a boba stall!! Great selection of fruits and veg, and the fish looks amazing! Some of the touristy stuff is even pretty nice and also inexpensive; think pearl jewelry, hand-woven bags/purses, essential oils, soaps, vanilla, and more. Only drawback is there are no places to eat near the food stalls, and the upstairs restaurants chase you away. There are stairs and a few standing tables, but I’m pretty sure I saw some kinda drug deal go down. That being said, I never felt uncomfortable or even remotely threatened. Also, the stall hawkers in the market proper we’re nearly universally charming and friendly. 5 stars if there were places to sit and eat. And even though it technically closes at 4:00 (16:00), get there by 3 at the latest. Even then, many of the food stalls will be closed.

This is a great two-story indoor market. With fresh, fish, flowers, vegetables and fruit. There is a food court as well. Access to the second story is by escalator, elevator or stairs. There are a lots of crafts people selling jewelry, baskets, beads, and pearls. Used by the locals. Sone vendors do take credit cards.

The market is in the centre of town. It’s stocked with souvenirs such as black pearls, woven baskets, traditional Tahitian clothes, perfumes, flower arrangements. There is also a fresh food section where you can buy local produce such as tuna, mangos, pineapples and cooked foods. It’s spread over two levels. The market provides the local people with an income. By comparison to other markets around the world this market is very small and easy to visit in less than an hour but the traders are lovely (friendly, not pushy, you don’t feel like anyone is trying to cheat you).

The blowhole itself is especially fun for kids. It's also such a cute spot for pictures! The sidewalk and railings are well maintained and look great! During the day, the little shop is open where you can buy local jewelry, paréos, and other local goods. Great view! Easy to find, there was always parking available when we went.

Anyone visiting the island of Tahiti should stop here for an hour or two. When the trade winds,are blowing, you can watch native Tahitians surfing! The Blow Hole is created by the pressure of the waves blowing through,a small cave-like opening in the cliff overhanging the beach, traveling about 30 feet below ground, then shooting out a hole in the side of the mountain. Be careful... you may get drenched! .😁

This should definitely be one of your short stops when driving round Tahiti. What a phenomenen! Waves slam into the basalt rocks and the pressure sends spray through the blowhole. A real treat, and be careful as you may get wet or even blown over! Highly recommended.

Fun little stop on the side of the road. Is it a must see? Probably not but if you’ve got 5-10 minutes it’s totally worth it. The actual blowhole is by the cliff of the left hand side of the path. Stand in front of it to feel the breeze. Most of the tourists focus on the spray being blown out the front though. If you continue walking there are other smaller blowholes to the right but don’t waste too much time looking for them.

Along NE coast on drive around island. Very small parking lot with maybe 5 spots. There is a little park that wraps around both sides of the tunnel the road passes through. Pretty park and beautiful views along the coast and black sand beach. Waterfalls are just across and down the street.

You may think it’s just a hole in the ground and you may even be tempted to skip Arahoho Blowhole on your trip around Tahiti, but TRUST ME when I say this: this is one of the coolest things you will see on your entire trip!! This is equal to any of the waterfalls, beaches, and other places on the islands of French Polynesia! I have never seen anything like it - waves slam into the rocks down at sea level, and this narrow hole channels the pressure all the way up to where you are standing! It’s like a tube that blasts air out and it is POWERFUL! It shoots wind close to hurricane force, and if you got too close, you would definitely blow over from the force! It is loud too, so be prepared!!! I 100% recommend stopping here along your drive - it is free and entirely worth a few minutes of your time. There is almost no walking required, and there is also a nice park attached to the Blowhole area where you can have a nice view of the ocean as well as the sea creatures on the rocks below! One unique phenomenon that you might spot when you visit is these little fish things that hop all across the rocks near the bottom entrance of the blowhole. It is weird, and I have never seen anything like it before. Maybe you know why they are? 🤔

The blowhole is a small opening near the wall of the rock face that shoots out a mist of seawater in gusts with a loud whoosh sound. Around the blowhole also involves a short paved trail along the coast. The black sand beach is also fantastic to relax in. If you walk to the edge of the beach towards the east/south side, there is a freshwater river that feeds in to the ocean which is a very unique feeling with the intersection of cold stream fresh water and warm salty ocean water. Parking is extremely difficult but we were lucky and was able to get a spot right as someone left.

The surrounding area of the blowhole is postcard worthy with its beautiful scenery. This is one of the stop of our bus tour in Tahiti.

The Robert Wan Pearl Museum in Tahiti provides insights into pearl cultivation through its exhibit, but it feels predominantly like a high-end pearl retail store rather than a pearl museum. While the free admission is a plus, the high prices of the items for sale gives a more commercial vibe.

Very informative tour. The guide explained how the pearl was harvested and the exhibits are interesting. It will take you about 15 mins to move around. Spend time to read some articles. And did I mention it's air conditioned - great to escape the afternoon heat for awhile.

This was a very informative museum on how cultured pearls are made. They have multiple displays and some video presentations. They also have some high end pearl jewelry for sale. Recommend this as one of your stops while in Papeete.

This is rather a shop mascarading as a museum, so there are no tickets. To be fair the area of a museum is close to the shop area and if you are not familiar with pearl cultivation process it can be very educational and interesting. Still the main idea is to generate a flow into a shop that takes a central part. Sales assistants are knowlegible and polite, but prices are rather on a high end.

Excellent place to understand the tahitian black pearl industry. Artfully put together and described. The ac does not hurt either! Yes it is a store but extremely low key with excellent products.

Convenient location a short walk from the centre of Papeete. Staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. 30 minutes approx to cover the content. Decent little park near the water. View out to shipping docks so not the most picturesque. All the playgrounds were closed. Not sure if they have limited opening hours or just because of the rain earlier. Some nice sculptures and workout equipment. Lots of joggers.

Nice and well care grounds. It was created in early 2000s intentionally to provide a nice area for tourists as well as for the community. It holds several festivities such as the Heiva I Tahiti.

I was in Tahiti on 22nd August, 2017, a beautiful but pretty hot day, and while out site-seeing was looking for the US Embassy (McDonald's) and came across the Papeete Catholic Cathedral, know as Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Papeete. Not at all far from the waterfront, it's a modest but nice Cathedral. It was built by French missionaries in the period 1848-1875 making it the oldest church in Tahiti. Also of interest is that it's the last remaining examples of the early colonial architecture of Papeete. The gaily coloured with red roof, not to mention the distinctive red spire on the church tower certainly make this cathedral a stand out in the centre of the capital. The Cathedral has benefited from several restorations over the years and it will be interesting to see how it holds its place in years to come as central Papeete develops, as I'm sure that it will. ps. Walking a little further down the road from the Cathedral I eventually found the rather uninteresting U.S. Embassy.

I was very happy with my visit to the Manua Art as it was not just to browse current offerings, but also about learning more about the Polinesian Culture for different island groups. No doubt you can get a much better deal communicating directly with the artist, but that requires quite an effort. While visiting Manua Art located at the Four Seasons Bora Bora, we enjoyed excellent service and choices from a wide range of art pieces. The service and selection were excellent .

Manua is an excellent Arts and Culture Gallery to visit and purchase from. Laina was so very helpful and knowledgeable. We made a purchase and as outlined by Laina we were easy able to work through the Tahitian exit and New Zealand entry processes. A must visit Gallery on the waterfront.

spent 10 days in Tahiti and each time when i go into town, I keep revisiting this beautiful shop with such lovely ladies helping me chose magnificently made artwork and explaining to me in detail where its made and who the artists are.

My wife and I greatly enjoyed our time here. We purchased a beautiful tiki and a beautiful ivory/wood carving. We spent a significant amount of time there asking questions. They were so kind as to allow us to feed our daughter some formula there and even offered to close the shop for some privacy. Great gallery and it was quite special. We will continue to return in the future on any future visits.

Outstanding indigenous art from tikis to animals to canoes and countless others in multiple media including local woods, shells, bone, mother of pearl. Speak of, there’s also an excellent pearl shop they run next door with a fantastic selection. Laina and Tahia are incredibly quick to respond by phone or email with any and all questions you may have and will help you along the entire browsing, buying, and pick up or delivery experience. They are both knowledgeable about everything in their shop and are clearly passionate about the art and pearls. Their shop is a must see in your visit to Papeete. Looking forward to visiting them at their Four Seasons location in Bora Bora!
