First track to the left as you're heading down Woolshed Rd. You will either have to walk it, 4x4 or bike it. It takes you to the top of the falls. You can't get to it from the other side. Great place to do nothing or walk the rocks.

Beautiful falls. When we went on a very hot weekend day, it was busy but didn't feel packed. It's a very short walk. Just be careful whilst walking on wet rocks, they can be slippery because of the musk.

Very pretty place only a short drive away from Beechworth. One can just sit quietly on the large rocks and enjoy the views of the falls or wet your feet in the little water pools formed between the rocks.

Beautiful spot. Even overflowing with Christmas holiday enjoyers it is a lovely slice of Australian bush. The falls are beautiful and if you keep your eyes barely open you'll spot plenty of interesting wildlife, especially lizards.

Such a beautiful place for a Sunday morning exploration! Trails weren’t anything strenuous, which was perfect for me. So cool to read about the gold mining history and how it affected the area (what equipments and techniques they used etc.). Will definitely be coming back next time I’m down here 😍

Great waterfall with an extremely easy access. Wheel chair friendly etc etc. Will become crowded at times as it's a popular spot. Great views from dedicated platform.

This is an absolutely stunning place to visit, just to sit in the running water or just wet your feet. The view is fantastic, and you'd get a great view at sunset. Only had a short time there but next time we'll spend longer.

Nice waterfalls. You can go down and swim or shower whatever you want. But the area gets really hot on day time during summer so take precautions. Enough parking and picnic area. Toilet also available. Nice place to enjoy sunny day. You can also do nearby bush tracks.

Really easy waterfall lookout to go to as the platform is right next to the carpark. Then you can go to the top of the waterfall too, just go down the track which is not difficult at all but not accessible for wheelchairs. Wear proper hiking shoes as a caution so you can explore the top of the waterfall safely. Went when it was absolutely pumping. Probably one of the best waterfalls in this area of the state!

Good experience in a hot and sunny day, few individual and families was having fun inside water. Stone inside the water are very slippery. Few incidents happen because of that. So just be very careful going in the water.

Toilets, bbq and excellent scenery. Snow has all melted so the river is running nicely. The walk to town is a bit unkempt but a nice walk. The falls would be a great spot on a hot day. Lots of pools to sit in.

Beautiful bush setting. The Falls were lovely to see. Very calming and serene. Swimming in the rock pools would be fun. It's easy to get down but very rocky terrain. Caution is recommended but worth the visit.

Absolutely beautiful experience. There was about 10 people there all spaced out, so it wasn't too crowded, which made the experience pleasant. We visited the Falls first, and the water was cold and beautiful, and even had a large pond for kids to play in. Afterwards, we went to the viewing point looking down at the Falls, which was also beautiful to look at, with information about the history of the Falls which was pleasant to read and learn about. Always a stopping point for us when we are passing through the area!

This place is beautiful!!!! I could have sat here all day. My husband and I went exploring up the back and I fell in not once... but twice and we had the best time. Even if I was soaked haha

Woodshed falls is an amazing area that showcases the amazing beauty of the area. With little tourists frantically taking pictures, it is a very peaceful place to take a quick swim or just appreciate nature. The cuttings in the rocks are especially interesting and fun.

Visiting a few days after some reasonable rain in early summer there was plenty of water flowing, and pleasant to explore amongst the rocks, though they were slippery in parts. Viewing of the waterfall with these shots was available for wheelchair access, though obviously a bit of a scramble and some steps to get onto the waterfall area.

This place is amazing. You can walk across to the top of the Falls.

A mighty popular spot with many flocking to the upper falls for a swim in the streams that make up the falls. Mighty big plummet if you get too close to the falls itself. Surprisingly, no real warning signs to speak of so be sure to pack your common sense if you decide to picnic there

Water begins at the top and makes its way to the bottom. My theory is that gravity plays some role in this process. Others believe it is a magical phenomenon. Who knows! All I can say is that it would make for a great place to cool down on a toasty day and even on this cooler day was a nice place to visit.

The Ned Kelly trials was fantastic being in the actual court room and the three wall projection of his life so glad I went

Very friendly staff, sharing some extra stories with us. You need 1 to 2 hours to visit all the places that come with the heritage pass. Unfortunately we didn't have that much time bit we'll definatelly come back soon.

If you want experience the deeper history of Beechworth, then the Court house is a great place to start. Beechworth has an amazing number of little places you can take the kids or yourself to go and have a visit to learn about Beechworth. The court House is of course famous for its association with Ned Kelly, but it also is an amazing place to come and see a historic building, built in 1958 and was a working courthouse right up to 1989, this courthouse has been an interesting and integral part of the community just as much as the Beechworth Goal Has. I love how you can almost access nearly every room of the courthouse minus the lady's balcony and a storeroom. But the Library happened to be our favourite room, it was filled with old law books and just had that nostalgic feel about it, the kids loved the library and the holding cells. (They used to have an audio spill that used to play but that feature was not there anymore. It did make for a great way to experience the court room.) The kids love being able to explore and sit where the judge and lawyers would sit and they did a little court play of their own. It was cheap to get in costing us a family of 6 $10. you could pay a bit extra for a guided tour which would probably have been great. There were souvenirs you could purchase for reasonable prices. Accessibility: The courthouse is wheelchair friendly, and you can access most of the courthouse bar the cells I believe. The staff are welcoming and encourage all to come and take part in the history of Beechworth. Great place for kids and anyone to come and visit.

It looks nice from the outside but sadly closed for renovations. Looking forward to visiting when it's open again.

One of the oldest well kept historic courthouses in Australia where Ned Kelly was trialled. Beautifully kept and interesting historic facts as you travel around the inside of the court house. Well worth a visit and just a few dollars for entry

Nice and informative with so many preserved gems! Not the best for younger kids or people not too interested in the Ned Kelly story, but if you’re game you’re going to absolutely love it!

This place is fantastic! Cheap to visit. The court house is in original condition as it was on the last day is was used. Lots of interesting information to read. Ned Kellys trial began here in August 1880 before it was transferred to Melbourne. Don’t forget to go around the rear of the building where one of the old stable buildings still stand. Also the old stone lock up with would be terrible to be locked up in. The whole area is so interesting and next door is the telegraph office to visit as well.

The Courthouse is a part of Beechworth historic precinct alongside other historic buildings. It was built in 1858 and has seen many historic court hearing’s including Ned Kelly, his Mum Ellen Kelly and Elizabeth Scott and ran for 131 years. It’s very well preserved and has lots of interesting information to read and absorb. Definitely worth a visit if you are in or around Beechworth.

Fabulous old buildings in the main street opposite the Information Centre. There is a walk that you can do. Just ask in the Info Centre. These buildings all have great signs out front with info on what they were. They are all well preserved. One of the best historical streets that we have been to. This is where Ned Kelly had his first trial. Do visit the Information Centre across the road and the Bourke Museum behind the Info Centre. Beechworth is one of the best historical towns that we have visited.

am assuming due to couple of luxury hotels the beach has been really well maintained. Which is a really good point. I don't remember spending almost the entire day at any other beach but this. A beach worth visiting and spending time. Take a nice dip in the Arabian Sea. lie down on the beach get sun bathed and have yummy food on the shacks there. p.s Our favourite shack was "Gloria". Mr Satish was a polite and very helpful host. Tried the others as well (Misha and Amish) but we found this the best. Gloria shack is between Misha and Amish, close to the beach opening of Mahindra Club.

We joined a midday tour, had a really great guide who outlined the history on the Gaol and its life. The quirks of having a gaol that had to grow from the 1800s with bushrangers through to the late 1900s. If your in Beechworth it's worth a visit

great place for a tour! can even see the old balls people have hit on the roof from times of it being in use. can’t go onto the second level anymore but i do recall seeing peoples old magazine hangings of cars on the pin boards. recommend to buy tickets online before attending

I am only reviewing the cafe as I actually have not done the Gaol tour. It was in the middle of Covid and there was a challenge with staff and being forced to close sporadically so the range of food and cakes wasn’t standard. The food was ok but not the best. I think when Covid has passed the men range and food quality will improve. I would recommend a visit here as the grounds are spectacular and the trees and outdoor seating is relaxing and splendid.

What a fantastic experience this was, we went here for a family day outing and we had explored the other small museums that were in the vicinity. We decided to book in online which was so easy and quick and was done with a tour guide. We ended up coming on a family open day which was a fun event although not a lot was going on, it was a cute and a light event. We went with our kids and nephew, we met out the front of the goal and listened to an informative talk about the history of the Goal, then went inside the rec yard where we learnt more about the Goal and some of the stories of the inmates. We went inside the cell blocks and the talk continued we were then given about 10mins to have a free look around the bottom floor, the top floor was not accessible due to safety regulations. But the second floor was apparently the same as the bottom floor. You don't get to go through the entire building, this is probably having a lot to do with that there are other businesses now occupying the Goal. It certainly was an interesting experience, i would have loved to see some other parts of the building, not just the cell blocks and parts of the yard. But the whole family really enjoyed the experience. Accessibility for aged and Disable: There are some minor steps into the goal, we had a lady with a pram, and they accommodated the mum to access the area, so I would assume that a wheelie walker or wheelchair would be accommodated for. It can be a bit hot during the warmer months as we stood outside listening to the talk which was a little uncomfortable, but at the time we went was tolerable. Maybe on hot days they change where they do the talk. Food and drink: I believe they have a cafe there that runs most days of the week, it seemed a permanent fixture to the place and also there is a cafe. I would recommend coming here and do the other museums as well as they support each other in the history of Beechworth. hope you enjoy it as much as we did. :-)

Great tour of a really cool historical site. Daniel was our guide, and he was bloody brilliant. One his stuff, want pushy, and spoke naturally, and well. Brilliantly preserved, this gaol is a must see for any history or Kelly enthusiast

The gaol was not open for tours when I was there. It is an amazing part of our history. Such a beautiful structure. Very eerie.

Interesting tour even though it’s a small gaol, obviously, don’t expect a massive one like in Melbourne - recommend to book in advance. It did start a little bit late, but we finished up a bit later too. You can hire a bike here, plenty of carpark around the area, there is a cafe inside and toilet..

Our guide was very informative and well practised with his entertaining spiel. Certainly know more about the Kelly gang and their demise than we did previously. Cafe has good coffee too.

Great place to bring the family and learn about the area and the old jails history. The tour was great and you learn about some of the history of the inmates that spent time there including Ned Kelly.

Daniel was an exceptional tour guide during our visit to Beechworth Gaol. His knowledge of the gaol's history was both informative and engaging. He brought the stories of the prisoners and the conditions they endured to life with his vivid descriptions and attention to detail. Daniel's passion for the gaol's history was evident in his delivery and he went above and beyond to ensure that everyone in the group had a memorable experience. He was patient in answering all our questions and took the time to make sure we understood the complexities of the gaol's past. His enthusiasm for his job was infectious and made our visit to Beechworth Gaol all the more wonderful. We left feeling grateful for the experience and the opportunity to have had Daniel as our tour guide.

A very interesting place to visit, the tour was relatively inexpensive, with student and concession discounts. There is plenty of interesting history to see and learn about throughout the tour. There is also a nice cafe just in the courtyard for a quick bite & coffee. It's definitely worth checking out if you're in Beechworth.

Fantastic tour and lots of history and interesting stories about both the inmates and how the Gaol was built and operated, but also insight into the industry of the town etc. Kids (8 and 10) were listening to every word and enjoyed it as well. Guide (Cleve? - sorry mate, you did say we would forget your name 😐) was great at engaging with everyone on the tour. Thank you team!

Very informative tour of the old jail worth a visit. Some very know character past through its walls.

Tour was just over an hour- joined 8 minutes late with another couple rocking up just after us. Was unable to use the QR code to book as we joined late. Was told by tour guide we could pay at the cafe which wasn’t advertised at the front. Other couple who came after us wasn’t asked for their tickets or to pay so they got a free tour I guess!

When buying a ticket, I recommend doing the tour. It doesn't cost any more and the guide is very informative, a great experience to learn more on the lives of the prisoner's life. A coffee van is there while you wait...

The Old Beechworth Goal is a site to be seen with its high granite walls, which is fine stone work i must add to its razor wire on top, the Goal was opened for prisoners in 1864... The entrance to the Beechworth Goal is located on Williams St. The building does take up a lot of land and also can be seen along Ford St and High St... The longing question most people ask is about Edward/Ned Kelly, who did, in fact, spend some time at this Goal with his first conviction at 16 in 1870 for Actually doing nothing just receiving a stolen horse from somebody else which started his life as a bush ranger/outlaw... Also, the prison has been home to some of Australia's most well-known bushrangers, including Joe Byne and Harry Powers. The prison also held twenty or so suspected Kelly gang riders in 1879.... Another name what some one say as a big name in crime was Carl Williams, and over the 140 years of the Beechworth Goal being in service, I could say the books would be full of names... There is a tour that runs most days, and we were hoping to take one of these tours, but unfortunately, we missed out and run out of time in the beautiful town of Beechworth... We did get the chance to take a small stroll around the outside, I will update my post when I get the chance to take a tour on the inside of this prison.

Our tour guide Graeme was amazing, he was very knowledgeable and had lots of great stories about the inmates and gaol. Was nice to be able to roam around and have a look in the rooms and take as many photos as you want. We had a great time here, if you like the history of places like this I would highly recommend!

Tour was an hour long it costs $28 an adult with discounts for concession holders. It takes you through the goal with our guide highlighting the history in a very animated way. We thoroughly enjoyed it and definitely grab a coffee afterwards in the airstream caravan on site!

An incredible history and prison of choice for Ned Kelly and his gang. The tour guide was wonderful and shared so many interesting facts about the gaol.

Tour was OK. It was a very small prison compared to some of the others we had toured. Not much time to look around. You get shoved out so they can start the next tour.

Nice regional museum which is good for a wet day. Costs $5 to enter and will take most people between 30-60 minutes to walk around. Do note that there is a lot more here that just stuff on Burke so don't let that put you off. There was also an interesting exhibit on the Chinese in the area which was illuminating

Hands down, best Museum ever! The ladies are very knowledgable. Rikki, the Senior here went out of her way to look up historical information on hubby's family who migrated to Beechworth in 1860. Hubby was over the moon with this. A BIG thank you to Rikki. Apart from that, the Museum arranges the historical walk around town. And this Museum has a wealth of history including one of the best pioneer exhibits that we have ever seen. See photos. Oh and I was impressed to learn that Tom Thumb visited here. See the photo exhibit of his little boots below. And that is not all. We only paid half of the entry price because they had to corden off a bit of the museum for a presentation. We cannot believe that there is more to this amazing museum! Deserves 5+

Friendly staff welcomed us and gave short explanation. Museum is an odd mix of Burke memorabilia, taxidermied animals, shells, rocks, and 19th century shop fronts.

Brilliant old style museum of randomness from back in the olden days when they killed things so they could look at them in cases. They have a beautiful big old globe which is like an old fashioned Google maps. Highlights for me were Ned Kelly's death mask, he had a little head; and a collection of hairballs from the stomachs of different animals. Learnt that a woman's mourning period should be 4 years, whilst for a man 3 months is sufficient. This is because men's emotions are more highly controlled and can be focused very intently over a shorter period. I would have made a good Victorian.

Great museum dedicated to Robert Burke, of Burke and Will's fame. Loved the mini version of old Beechworth.

Fantastic little museum. Only $5 for adults or $3 concession. Has a fascinating collection of local rocks and native fauna taxidermy. Some in better condition than others. Has a recreated historical Beechworth alley where you can view objects from a hundred years ago. A newer instalment has a more personal analysis of the town. A historic citizen and a modern citizen are placed next to each other and their story is told. Sometimes it works more than others.

Don't miss out on this little museum, learned lots of history for this town.

Small but full of interesting local history. The latest exhibition is on the people of Beechworth. A good mix of new & old. Of course my favourite section is the history, hence not many photos here on the people. When learning about Burke & Wills in primary school in the early 80s, I did not know he was a Beechworth police superintendent. My favourite section of the museum is the ‘street’ of shops with artifacts that transport you back in time. Can’t believe how many stuffed animals people had.A whole wall of birds! $5 entry fee. There a free postcards you can take just near where you pay. We probably spent about half an hour in there. It could take you longer if you read every single display.

A very nice collections of original tools used by the early settlers. It is also good to bring the kids for a visit to know more about the history. Access fee is reasonable to maintain the facility.

Prefer the other brewery in town. Unfortunately the kitchen was closed so we came to Bridge Road. Had the duck a la orange pizza which was unique. However the tomato sauce base was too sweet. They should have just stuck to a light BBQ sauce to compliment the sweet orange on top of the pizza. The beer paddle was the biggest that we have ever had. But quantity does not equate to quality. Sorry, we have had better paddles at other brewerys.

Bridge Road Brewers, what a beautiful establishment! Our time in beautiful Beechworth was short, and on the last day in Beechworth looking around, we found Bridge Road and unfortunately had already eaten and couldn't sit back and enjoy a nice cold beer of theirs due to along drive ahead! We get the opportunity to take a look around and talk some wonderful of the staff who were extremely friendly and made our time to leave even harder! Although we have already talked about heading back to Beechworth for a couple of days, and I can say I'm heading straight to the Bridge Road Brewers to try out their beer and to what I seen their amazing looking food! Lots of seating inside or out with a great atmosphere! Also, some great merchandise available... Bridge Road Brewers, you have an amazing looking establishment!.

Great place for a drink and to eat. Due to me driving I didn't get to taste all of their beers but next time I will that's for sure. The staff were great and helpful too

A quaint place off the street, set in the local craft brewery. Great pizzas, some with unique flavours, and all very tasty. Enjoyed the funghi, and roast duck pizzas. Great service by a friendly team.

We shared a pork meatball and vodka honey Pizza and a Salad, Wow factor on the Pizza, we tried as many beers as we could, These beers are my absolute favourite! By far the best brewery I have been too, there has been many all over the Country.

Very big bar and restaurant but you need to book ahead especially on weekends. I had a delicious barramundi with fattoush salad, although the salad was very sparse on the plate. Pizzas coming out of the oven looked good and are very popular among diners. We shared a garlic herb focaccia which was good. Finished off the meal with a birramisu, don't stress you can't taste the beer, was yummy and a bit too creamy for my taste and needed more biscuits on the base. The red wine was nice as well, didn't get to try the beer. They offer a free bike wash station in their car park as well. Great vibe.

Perfect relaxing place to catch up with friends.. awesome selection of beer on tap.. along with some local whiskey.. very tasty pizza too. Excellent service and friendly staff. The other plus is that it has a playground for the children.. I would revisit.

A lil surprise when you walk down the lane way and it opens up to an outdoor area. Quiet spot, think that's were everyone from town was. Pizza is really good, atmosphere is hip and positive.

$28 for a 10 90ml beer tasting paddle! Amazing - they come preplanned but allow you to swap if you aren't keen on one! We had the buffalo wings and duck pizza - both really good. Highly recommended for a nice high out in Beechworth!

Had lunch with friends and enjoyed lovely pizzas outside in their great outdoor area. Pizzas were great and great selection of beer and tasting paddle board great value .

A great place to have pizza ( and they were yum!!😋) and some beer tasting ( and there is something for everyone 's taste buds!!) after doing the Epic Trail ride or a bush walk. But the silver lining is the FREE BIKE WASH out the back of the Brewery! The owners are MTB enthusiasts and encourage all us riders in!! They even have free bike hire for the rail trails as well!! There are free Brewery tours at 11 am each day. What a great venue, 👍🏾.

This place is a must visit in Beechworth for yummy food and good beers with unique flavour We like - Vanilla ice cream flavour beer Burrata salad Margherita pizza Miso eggplant Beef brisket- wouldn’t recommend, dry and overcooked, had much better brisket elsewhere. Delicious woodfired pizza and salads. We had the apple and blue cheese pizza which was such a winning combination topped with rocket and the crunch of hazelnuts - autumn in every slice. Paired perfectly with the zucchini salad with burrata dotted through ribbons of zucchini and fresh dill and parsley. A welcome step up from usual brewery fare and worth a visit in beautiful Beechworth!

Although we had a couple of issues getting a table (even with a booking), the chick who greeted us did her best to get us seated comfortably. The hubby had a beer tasting paddle and loved his meatball pizza. The garlic foccacia was a tad salty for me but my cheese pizza was ok. Worth a visit and the staff were doing a great job with it being super busy. If you love pizza and beer (like the hubby does), you'll love this place.

A bit of a mixed bag here. Our Porco Rosso pizza was great, but the pepperoni pizza was a bit meh as well as being way too salty.

This is a $30 takeaway pizza. A smear of cheese, a few bits of prosciutto and some cold fig slices. Very disappointing I’m local and have had great pizzas in the past but this was beyond ordinary

Five stars for the quality and accurate historical accounts of the important role that telegraphs and telegraph stations performed from the 1850s thru 1960s by a surviving real life telegraph operator! Well done to this real group of volunteers who share their knowledge and direct memories of a time past to those who ask! This is a truly authentic museum! Well done!

Fantastic working Telegraph system run by great volunteers. Collection of old equipment brought back memories. Great to see old buildings displaying their history.

It's interesting to see how far we have come in telecommunications. There are some really old phones here. Some I hadn't seen growing up. It depends on you age, that how interesting you would find this. Older you are more you will be able to relate to what they have here. A 15 year old might find it amusing what the phones used to be like but they won't relate to them.

Very helpful staff. Lots of local information available inside. There's a chapel at the back which must be well aged. The honour roll on the walls shows just how much the local population contributed in both world wars.

Top service. The lady who served us had actually driven the roads and walked the walks. She really knew the local area intimately and provided very constructive suggestions on what would work for us. How often does this happen?

Was in need of assistance and the lady (wish I could remember her name) was most helpful and caring. Solid five stars. The staff here clearly care deeply about doing their job well.

It's a beautiful yet bustling country town with an amazing historical background... Plenty to see and do, it even has pet friendly accommodation!

We joined a couple of fabulous walking tours hosted by the friendly Bec today. She was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about her subjects…the history of Beechworth and Ned Kelly. A super way to start our stay in this lovely, historic town.

Pierre was extremely helpful showing us local places to visit. We went on the Gold rush and Ned Kelly walking tours that were excellent. Peter was such an engaging & funny host and we thoroughly enjoyed the tours, highly recommended them.

On a sunny day we went to the information centre to ask about walking tracks around the Beechworth Gorge area. The woman there was quite adamant that there were no tracks for walking and the only option was to walk around the road. She seemed clueless in regards to anything else and told us if we diverted from the road it would be “ too slippery”. We parked at the Powder Magazine and easily found signs pointing to a number of sign posted walking tracks. We did about 10 ks and it was lovely with some nice lookouts and not slippery at all. I’m pleased we didn’t take the advice of the woman at the tourist information centre. Perhaps she needs a bit more local knowledge.

5 Star experience! Beautiful building! The ladies here are amazing with a wealth of historical knowledge of Beechworth. They told us about the historical walk and encouraged us to book at the museum down below the Info Centre. The Centre itself has lots of memorabilia, information of surrounding areas and information on Ned Kelly who was first tried in Beechworth Court House, the historical building opposite. Also some pretty cool Ned Kelly gifts amongst other tourist souvineers. Don't miss a visit here when in the area.

Landed here with little knowledge about the wine estate or the restaurant, but we leave as fervent fans! The menu is full of delights while being delightfully brief. The scenery leaves you taking regular deep breaths as the green hills fill you with an old, quiet calm. The staff are friendly, and the gins, all distilled on site, are a roulette wheel of wins, no matter which one you land on. Our visit was capped off by a generous and dazzling indulgence from Chris, the truly talented gastronomic guru, who whipped up a palate cleansing three-step experience full of colour, taste and pop! (No point in a hack attempt at detailing this. You'll have to go and see for yourself! From all sides, this little hideaway is a genuine gem.

Beautiful position, indoor or outdoor, wonderful weather today.. Food and wine along with service excellent. Not cheap but for something special well worthwhile. Thoroughly recommend.

Our dining experience at Glenbosch was superb. We opted for the 5 course Chefs Table at $105pp was well priced. Courses were "fashionably" small, but we certainly didn't come away still feeling hungry. Table service was great, we were well informed, all questions answered simply and clearly. A lovely dining experience.

What a fabulous place! Great job done by the new owners to create a world class restaurant and cellar door. Highly recommended for a superb meal, great view and very friendly service.

Went here for weekend lunch after making an online reservation. Arrived a little earlier to attend a tasting (wine or gin) prior to lunch. Chose the full chef's table / five (5) courses, whereby you can select an entree, main and dessert from the given options. The other two courses included the chef's 'treat of the day' and palate cleanser just prior to dessert. For entrees, I chose the Portside and Paddock (scallop and beautifully cooked duck with pesto cous cous and mushroom gel. Premium Eye fillet was chosen for mains, which was perfectly cooked and balanced nicely with an interesting cafe au lait sauce. For dessert, I chose the Malva Pudding which was an amazing end with lovely textures of meringue shards, luscious ice cream and soft cake. Shout out to the palate cleanser, which was an experience served at the bar involving sichuan flower and soothing blend the apple and berries (I won't spoil details). Service was friendly and efficient. Smart casual ambience with indoor and terrace seating available. Beautiful surrounds, including alpacas if you are lucky. Prices are quite reasonable for fine dining - $99 pp for a five-course experience. Overall, an exceptional lunch. Highly recommend.

Absolutely loved our Sunday lunch here. Amazing food and friendly service by a wood fire, couldn’t ask for more. I’m still dreaming about the vegan cannelloni, so delicious. Will be back.

I am a local wedding photographer and photographed a wedding here in Feb this year. Glenbosch is such a stunning venue for couples planning their wedding day and I seriously can't rate the owners and staff highly enough. When I arrived early on the day the owners took me for a drive around the property to find the perfect locations for photos and were so helpful and warm. For weddings the venue is perfect, modern cabins on site for getting ready, a gorgeous bridal suite with lots of natural light, a shady and very pretty ceremony spot, vineyards, and the most epic views for sunset. Seriously love it and very worth checking out if you are planning a wedding!!!

The range on the menu, chef's preparation & plating, meal portions, wait and bar service, and courtesy bus - all made for a wonderful, tasty, full flavour, enjoyable evening, for a local food, wine and gin experience. An amazing meal at sunset, in a stunning location. We chose the 5-course Chef's Table Experience and it surpassed our expectations- it was colourful, innovative, flavour-driven and wines were perfectly paired with each of the dishes. Having thoroughly enjoyed our pre-dinner gin cocktails, we purchased a bottle of the Honey Rooibos. We look forward to visiting regularly and enjoying the seasonal menus. Well done!

What a beautiful surprise Glenbosch Estate is. The serenity, the views, the gorgeous accommodation, the restaurant, the wines, all delightful!! We come to Beechworth for a getaway every year, its our happy place & Glenbosch is now our choice for accommodation. High end finishes, all done tastefully, away from the other cottages giving complete privacy. The stars at night while in the hot tub are next level!! Kangaroos in the evenings and waking up to magpies, cockatoos and kookaburras. Our meal at the restaurant was perfect! Dirk, the owner went out of his way to hand deliver us ice, champagne flutes, tune us into his Kayo for footy & even started our hot tub fire. Cannot wait to return. Thankyou Glenbosch👏👏

An absolutely beautiful winery located 10kms from Beechworth. We ate there over the weekend and enjoyed some of the finest food we have tasted for a while. A good selection of full bodied whites and reds are available, the cabernet sauvignon easily being in the top 3 I have tried. It may even be the best. Nika and Dirk Bester bring you a fabulous little slice of South Africa to Victoria. Well worth a visit. On a personal note I must thank the two of you for your beautiful, warm welcome, to both of us. It made my birthday weekend a memorable one.

Very special ZA style eating and cellar door. Great Pinot Gris and Rooibos Gin Liqueurs. Wonderful food. We loved a feeling of Cape Town in Beechworth.

We had an amazing trip to Glenbosch Winery. A fantastic 5 course meal with wine and gin tastings to follow. We then took a walk around the property with a wine in hand which was tranquil and beautiful. Our cottage was spotless and comfortable and the staff were very friendly and accomodating. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends!

I didn't know what to expect coming here but my socks were totally blown off! Firstly the service was first rate. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly. During our meal we were checked on regularly. Just great old fashioned warm caring service. Secondly the gin tasting and food we had (I had a lamb burger) were all awesome. I couldn't fault anything. I recommend heading out back to see the factory viewing window too.

What a great place. I visit here when it first opened and to come back a couple of years later to treat ourselves to lunch. We'll what a winner. Good price, great burgers, and I fell in love with the stout on tap, but it was a cruel trick as I wanted to buy a case there on the spot, and there was done available! 😞 So delicious. Super nice staff and drawing kits and treats for the kids. A must to visit. The old building has come to life, and the whole place is getting better and better.

A really wonderful experience! This brewery is set up for a great experience! You can taste as much as you want of the non alcoholic, the vodka and gin mixes, and the spirits. The kids loved the cordials, with passion fruit and lamington being the favourites. With the mixes, we enjoyed the grapefruit gin and elderflower in. Highly recommend a visit.

Had lunch and tastings at Billsons Brewery. The customer service all round was of the highest level, totally fantastic. The burgers were delicious, you can tell the ingredients were top quality. Enjoyed having relaxed tastings (yummy gin) and had a walk around. The Speakeasy Bar looked impressive. Very much enjoyed our visit, left with a box of goodies! Highly recommended place to visit, have lunch and try some tastings.

🍹The staff are very friendly. In the shop, there are ‘self tasting vodka mix area’ and tastings of their other product from cordial to Gin’s. 🥘 Lunch was a generous serve at a reasonable price (~$18-20- a main meal) with an upstairs dining area and downstairs extending to a cocktail lounge/dining area. 🚻 There are toilets (includes baby change room) with a viewing area behind glass of their production. Additional toilets are found at tue restaurant area.

I did the Cocktail Class at Isabella’s Cocktail Bar and had a delightful time. I learnt heaps and we could ask lots of questions. The class was well paced, and very professionally presented. There were platters of cheese and walnuts, etc to help counter the alcohol intake. You definitely need to have a designated driver. If you did this class with a group of friends you’d have an absolute blast, but you’d enjoy it with strangers as well.

Well this is the adult version of a ‘kid in a candy store’ Wow, a little overwhelming to be honest, people and product everywhere. Staff were really friendly to serve kids cordial samples as well as the adults sampling vodkas, beers and spirits. So many flavours of all alcohols to sample, I didn’t realise they produced so many flavours!! Can def recommend a visit to Billson’s when visiting Beechworth.

We didn’t book and manage to get a seat at the Speakeasy section where they do grazing platter and drinks (not full lunch menu) - highly recommend to book in advance as the queue is insane and always full all year round! Grazing platter was ok, some items not available which is a bit disappointing if you have a certain diet but overall still tasty and delicious drinks! The gin tasting platter, even non alcoholic drinks were nice. The staff are friendly and helpful, love the vibe too!

Wow just a great experience, great people. Really love the speak easy gin bar, that’s next level. But they also have some of the best cordial I have tasted, love the sparkling option. It’s a must if you visit Beechworth. An amazing historical town in northern Victoria.

Testing the unique cordials and ordering all the different flavoured drinks was a must! Helped us purchase the cordials which we liked. We got a platter which was $50+ for lunch which was pretty average and underwhelming for the price (probably wouldn’t order if we went back). Didn’t seem like there was much staff, as we were told it was table service but were waiting a while to order more drinks. However, all staff were very friendly and welcoming 😊

Just spent the weekend In Beechworth and stayed at the Brewery house, had lunch at Billsons also did the tour and dinner at the cocktail bar. Our tour guide T was amazing even though some rude people showed up late and demanded to join in after telling them it was full she handled it so well then seeing her late that night working at the soda bar still with a big smile and warm welcoming hello. Every staff member we came across was fantastic definitely feels like one big happy family. The cocktails were amazing and the food was just as good. Thank you for an amazing weekend we excited to plan another trip back.

A must visit!! The trying room was set up so nice, shelves packed and staff super friendly to help you try anything. Then we had lunch in the barrel room which was delicious and super filling. Cocktails were also delicious! Highly recommend checking it out.

We decided to stop by for lunch... and the burgers did not disappoint! We also did tasting of AS MANY CORDIALS, AS MANY GINS AND AS MANY VODKAS as you like!!! All free!! The staff were happy and helpful and love to "suggest" extra mixes to cheer up your taste buds! 😊 It's a fun stop, and there is no way you can leave empty-handed once you try what's on offer. It's a great place to go, and then check out the viewing of the vats in the brewing house, too.

While visiting Beechworth, we were told that Billsons was worth a visit. We are glad we did drop past, its an amazing and beautiful place. Great selecting of tastings on offer and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed trying their gin and vodka. Was also great hearing about the history of the place as we enjoyed our tastings. The kids also loved having their own tastings of all the various delicious cordials. We stayed for lunch and we were not disappointed. There is also a magnificent speakeasy down stairs that is a great place to sit and enjoy a beverage or two. We will definitely visit again.

First time visitor from Brisbane, walked in and the shop was very busy which is a great sign and people were getting served quickly. A lot of tastings were happening and their range of flavours for cordial and alcohol is huge! Moving into the restaurant area, we asked to be seated for some drinks and they managed to fit us in to the speakeasy downstairs as they had just had a cancellation but also explained that they had a booking coming at 2:30pm allowing us one hour. Service was incredible, staff were very helpful and polite and the drinks were absolutely incredible! We had 3 vodka spritz and ended up buying three cordial flavours on the way out. What an amazing venue, thoroughly pleased!

First time stopping in and was very excited. We ended up there during school holidays and not realised so it was very busy, couldn't move around properly and see everything. We ordered some burgers and they were flavourless apart from a load of pickles stacked on the burger to supply taste, it was very odd. We purchased some cordials, bucket hat, limited edition. Pickle can. Wouldn't rush to go back though

Great day out to visit Bilson’s . This is must do when staying in Beechworth. There are so variety of Gin. Vodka , spirits and beers. Nice to have the table to do proper testing flight. It can be very busy and staff might not able to give you full attention. Kids are welcome for cordial testing which is pretty accommodating for families.

We were over from SA on a camping trip, and one of our group insisted on the 40 minute detour to go to Bilsons. Very happy that he did, and we all brought a box of their amazing cordials (buy 5 and the sixth is free). Free tasting of the cordials. Lots of young people working there, which is great. But a little more product training wouldnt go astray and I got a few blank looks when asking about some of the flavours. Bit of a long wait for the checkout. Open 12 noon to 5pm each day, so factor that in when visiting. Large range of cordials. There's a restaurant on-site, though we didn't eat there. Overall - well worth a visit. Allow 15 to 30 mins if your just browsing.

A must stop if you're in the area! Wonderful food, exceptional service, such a lovely welcoming vibe throughout. Free tastings of their products all made on site and many flavours that aren't available in your local bottle shops. My only complaint is they aren't in my local area to frequently visit!

First time visiting from out of state and we were not disappointed. A very busy and popular place but fast efficient friendly service saw us being looked after in no time. The tasting area has lots to offer in flavoursome traditional cordials and alcoholic beverages. It’s hard to pick a favourite. Their food is served hot and tasty with lots of items on the menu to choose from. Great atmosphere and excellent service all round. Loved the experience.

What can I say other than wow!! Customer service was just outstanding with incredibly friendly staff. The burgers & steak sandwiches were delicious and beautifully presented & of course I had to try out the Witches brew cocktail being Halloween. Billson’s tastings up stairs were incredible and we went home with lots of cordials. Thank you for a wonderful day!!❤️

Had lunch here, venue a lovely spot in Beechworth. We sat outside in the beer garden, food very nice, staff very friendly. We ordered the tacos and arancini. Both were very tasty and filling. It’s a very popular spot so I would recommend booking. #wanderinghousesitters

We had a platter with our wine tasting and it made all the difference. We let our host choose the wines and she explained the flavours. It was all done at a leisurely pace and we were able to enjoy both food and wine. Only down side...had to pay for the wine tasting and unlike other places that charge it wasn't refundable with the purchase of wine

Had one of the best wine tasting experience here few months ago. The staff members are very knowledgeable when it comes to explaining their wines. Went back again yesterday to get more of their amazing Viognier. Simply the best !

Absolutely a ‘must stop’ when staying in Beechworth. We rode on the bike trail from Beechworth and had the $45 per head lunch (platter, salad and pizza) which was delicious. Wines were definitely a favourite for all of us.

Fantastic service, a very friendly place to visit. We shared a delicious charcuterie platter while tasting all the wines available. The wines were excellent, and a few bottles found their way in to my luggage.

We visited Indigo yesterday and had a wonderful experience - everything was excellent: service, information, food and of course, their wines. Marietta and others in the team looked after us really well. I strongly recommend a visit if you are anywhere in the area. It’s relaxed, super casual and great value.

Great tasting experience, seated and relaxed, you will be thoroughly taken through the wine varieties, including recommendations, award-winners, and most/least favourite. A casual setting, intimate atmosphere, and great wines. The Pinot Grigio, Rosé, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, are all great wines worth the visit.

Great service in the cellar door is backed up by a stellar range of wines. Purity and persistence. Viognier is a knock-out. Do not drive past.

Organic wines made with love. The family have many years of winemaking history with day to day operations run by multiple generations of the family. Definitely would recommend for lovers of great wines that are handcrafted and made with love.

Beautiful biodynamic and organic wines in a beautiful setting. We came early in the day, but you can come and sit in the stunning courtyard, bring your own picnic and purchase their wines with very reasonable corkage. We were looked after by a wonderfully knowledgeable woman whose passion for the wines really shone. They had 3 wines available for tasting and we left with 2 x varietals.

Lovely spot for wine tasting if your driving through or staying locally in Beechworth. The hosts are very lovely and gracious and you wont find a better local winery. I loved the sauvignon blanc and riesling especially. The fortified wines were also a favourite.

Great selection of wines, with all the Pennyweight wines grown entirely on their estate from biodynamic grapes! Beautiful scenery with lots of seating in the shade under the trees. Dogs allowed too! The staff were very friendly, explained a lot about the wines and also enjoyed a good chat! Our dog also enjoyed a few dog biscuits provided too! The Pennyweight Gold (fortified wine) is absolutely incredible.

Libby served us and was most welcoming with that classic country hospitality. A gorgeous, calm, dare I say Italian-esque, courtyard to taste a lovely selection of crisp wines.

We visit every time we are in the Beechworth area to stock up 🥰 The wines are amazing and a little expensive but that's only because of the quality, biodynamic farming and limited supply. The flavours and smells of the wines are so good 🙌 definitely recommend!

A beautiful winery just minutes from the city centre. Chris was fantastic - told me about all the wines, why biodynamic practises are better for the environment and for the wine. If you are visiting Beechworth, make sure you visit!

Very interesting little building that looks solid enough to hold a blast in. You can’t enter the actual building. The building does look as though it was renovated but retains the feel of the era. The outer wall makes it look like a small prison but it only stored gun powder. I’m sure there were plenty of gun powder explosions in the day so storing it safely made sense. Worth a visit

A great piece of history but no way to go inside unfortunately

A historic building that makes Beechworth “historic”. Part of the towns mining history and is mostly observable from the outside. Sounds like the building was restored in the 80s but not sure when or why it would open up. The carpark has a bin and is the starting point for a great 7km loop around the neighbouring historic park.

If you're taking the scenic route back to Beechworth, it's worthwhile to have a quick stop off to see this bit of history. There is also a bush path leading to who knows where as I didn't take it.

You can't access the interior but still an interesting place to visit and a great hiking area

Not a lot so see just walk around the outside. But it’s an important old historic building preserved by the national trust. Built with thick granite blocks it’s quite impressive. It also has a big granite wall around it. Lovely area it is situated. Easy short walk to the building.

The plaque told us the history of this building. Unfortunately, we couldn’t enter the building, which limited the enjoyment.

Not sure about the stated opening hours. They state it opens 10am & closes 3pm, however I was there at 7pm and the door/gate was open. The sign also states access to the grounds only, so it’s not like the hours are for entering the powder magazine itself. We had a quick walk around & then walked over to the Beechworth cascade. On the way there is a creepy little abandoned home on the small hill. People must go at night as you can smell the put out fireplace & it was lined with soft drink cans. There must’ve been a house fire as the bedroom was pitch black and the floor was missing. A simple home - lounge room, bedroom, kitchen & bathroom/laundry. Would love to know the history of this place!

Historic Beechworth, has a lot to offer, the powder magazine, is another example of the history of Beechworth and the mining process. The magazine was built in 1859 to store the powder as part of the mining process, it's interesting that the roof was built in such a way that just in case, just maybe, if the building blew up the blast would go upwards very smart architecture. There really is not a lot to see that's for sure you can have a walk around the building and like everyone else I'm sure we would love to see is it just as bland inside and is it outside. It makes for some great photos with granite walls and building. On our last adventure we got to see the old cottage that was near the carpark, it would be great to see the trust, take possession of the cottage and restore it to allow tourist to see what a miner's hut looked like. With such a modern world it would be great to show our young generations how it used to be. When we visited in Dec 2022 the gorge drive was not accessible due to the recent rain had destabilized a bridge, you could not drive through, but people were leaving the cars in the car park and taking a walk in. it is a 5Km drive so beware it's not a simple short walk. the kids loved the cottage and having a squizzy around the building. hope you once again enjoy the visit here. xx Handley Family

We joined a midday tour, had a really great guide who outlined the history on the Gaol and its life. The quirks of having a gaol that had to grow from the 1800s with bushrangers through to the late 1900s. If your in Beechworth it's worth a visit

great place for a tour! can even see the old balls people have hit on the roof from times of it being in use. can’t go onto the second level anymore but i do recall seeing peoples old magazine hangings of cars on the pin boards. recommend to buy tickets online before attending

I am only reviewing the cafe as I actually have not done the Gaol tour. It was in the middle of Covid and there was a challenge with staff and being forced to close sporadically so the range of food and cakes wasn’t standard. The food was ok but not the best. I think when Covid has passed the men range and food quality will improve. I would recommend a visit here as the grounds are spectacular and the trees and outdoor seating is relaxing and splendid.

What a fantastic experience this was, we went here for a family day outing and we had explored the other small museums that were in the vicinity. We decided to book in online which was so easy and quick and was done with a tour guide. We ended up coming on a family open day which was a fun event although not a lot was going on, it was a cute and a light event. We went with our kids and nephew, we met out the front of the goal and listened to an informative talk about the history of the Goal, then went inside the rec yard where we learnt more about the Goal and some of the stories of the inmates. We went inside the cell blocks and the talk continued we were then given about 10mins to have a free look around the bottom floor, the top floor was not accessible due to safety regulations. But the second floor was apparently the same as the bottom floor. You don't get to go through the entire building, this is probably having a lot to do with that there are other businesses now occupying the Goal. It certainly was an interesting experience, i would have loved to see some other parts of the building, not just the cell blocks and parts of the yard. But the whole family really enjoyed the experience. Accessibility for aged and Disable: There are some minor steps into the goal, we had a lady with a pram, and they accommodated the mum to access the area, so I would assume that a wheelie walker or wheelchair would be accommodated for. It can be a bit hot during the warmer months as we stood outside listening to the talk which was a little uncomfortable, but at the time we went was tolerable. Maybe on hot days they change where they do the talk. Food and drink: I believe they have a cafe there that runs most days of the week, it seemed a permanent fixture to the place and also there is a cafe. I would recommend coming here and do the other museums as well as they support each other in the history of Beechworth. hope you enjoy it as much as we did. :-)

Great tour of a really cool historical site. Daniel was our guide, and he was bloody brilliant. One his stuff, want pushy, and spoke naturally, and well. Brilliantly preserved, this gaol is a must see for any history or Kelly enthusiast

The gaol was not open for tours when I was there. It is an amazing part of our history. Such a beautiful structure. Very eerie.

Interesting tour even though it’s a small gaol, obviously, don’t expect a massive one like in Melbourne - recommend to book in advance. It did start a little bit late, but we finished up a bit later too. You can hire a bike here, plenty of carpark around the area, there is a cafe inside and toilet..

Our guide was very informative and well practised with his entertaining spiel. Certainly know more about the Kelly gang and their demise than we did previously. Cafe has good coffee too.

Great place to bring the family and learn about the area and the old jails history. The tour was great and you learn about some of the history of the inmates that spent time there including Ned Kelly.

Daniel was an exceptional tour guide during our visit to Beechworth Gaol. His knowledge of the gaol's history was both informative and engaging. He brought the stories of the prisoners and the conditions they endured to life with his vivid descriptions and attention to detail. Daniel's passion for the gaol's history was evident in his delivery and he went above and beyond to ensure that everyone in the group had a memorable experience. He was patient in answering all our questions and took the time to make sure we understood the complexities of the gaol's past. His enthusiasm for his job was infectious and made our visit to Beechworth Gaol all the more wonderful. We left feeling grateful for the experience and the opportunity to have had Daniel as our tour guide.

A very interesting place to visit, the tour was relatively inexpensive, with student and concession discounts. There is plenty of interesting history to see and learn about throughout the tour. There is also a nice cafe just in the courtyard for a quick bite & coffee. It's definitely worth checking out if you're in Beechworth.

Fantastic tour and lots of history and interesting stories about both the inmates and how the Gaol was built and operated, but also insight into the industry of the town etc. Kids (8 and 10) were listening to every word and enjoyed it as well. Guide (Cleve? - sorry mate, you did say we would forget your name 😐) was great at engaging with everyone on the tour. Thank you team!

Very informative tour of the old jail worth a visit. Some very know character past through its walls.

Tour was just over an hour- joined 8 minutes late with another couple rocking up just after us. Was unable to use the QR code to book as we joined late. Was told by tour guide we could pay at the cafe which wasn’t advertised at the front. Other couple who came after us wasn’t asked for their tickets or to pay so they got a free tour I guess!

When buying a ticket, I recommend doing the tour. It doesn't cost any more and the guide is very informative, a great experience to learn more on the lives of the prisoner's life. A coffee van is there while you wait...

The Old Beechworth Goal is a site to be seen with its high granite walls, which is fine stone work i must add to its razor wire on top, the Goal was opened for prisoners in 1864... The entrance to the Beechworth Goal is located on Williams St. The building does take up a lot of land and also can be seen along Ford St and High St... The longing question most people ask is about Edward/Ned Kelly, who did, in fact, spend some time at this Goal with his first conviction at 16 in 1870 for Actually doing nothing just receiving a stolen horse from somebody else which started his life as a bush ranger/outlaw... Also, the prison has been home to some of Australia's most well-known bushrangers, including Joe Byne and Harry Powers. The prison also held twenty or so suspected Kelly gang riders in 1879.... Another name what some one say as a big name in crime was Carl Williams, and over the 140 years of the Beechworth Goal being in service, I could say the books would be full of names... There is a tour that runs most days, and we were hoping to take one of these tours, but unfortunately, we missed out and run out of time in the beautiful town of Beechworth... We did get the chance to take a small stroll around the outside, I will update my post when I get the chance to take a tour on the inside of this prison.

Our tour guide Graeme was amazing, he was very knowledgeable and had lots of great stories about the inmates and gaol. Was nice to be able to roam around and have a look in the rooms and take as many photos as you want. We had a great time here, if you like the history of places like this I would highly recommend!

Tour was an hour long it costs $28 an adult with discounts for concession holders. It takes you through the goal with our guide highlighting the history in a very animated way. We thoroughly enjoyed it and definitely grab a coffee afterwards in the airstream caravan on site!

An incredible history and prison of choice for Ned Kelly and his gang. The tour guide was wonderful and shared so many interesting facts about the gaol.

Tour was OK. It was a very small prison compared to some of the others we had toured. Not much time to look around. You get shoved out so they can start the next tour.

Beautiful, historic and a lovely picnic area. Perfect area for a little stroll with kids, date location or to find some shade. Has great water features and a well appointed memorial which is worth visiting
