It is a beautiful place🤩! I enjoyed my adventure☺️. That day the weather changed a lot, sometimes it was raining, then sunny, then cloudy and windy as well🌧🌦☀️💨. Try to wear a waterproof jacket and comfortable hiking shoes🧥🥾. Some buildings are closed due to covid😷but the most representative ones are open to visit. If you enjoy history and like to walk this is a perfect place😊👌🏻.

It's a fantastic place to visit. It's more enormous than I thought, so many places to go that's why the ticket is 2 days valid. It took 1.5 hours to drive from Hobart but it was worth a visit. The interesting part is the 20 minutes ferry trip which allows you to drop 2 stops on the island and discover by yourself. We just go to a little bit of this place. Plan to be back for another discovery. Please take the visitor guide book to see more details and places you would like to visit

A great experience and the short cruise is included in your ticket price. Allow all day and pack a lunch if you want a full experience. Lots to see and lots of walking. There is a buggy that does laps for people who may not be able to do all the walking. Lots of tours available throughout the day and it's advised you take the time to read all the plaques around the site.

The building that was formerly a prison is really worthy of attention. There are many places to take pictures. The overall feeling makes people feel the greatness of history. Remember that one ticket can take the boat and the car in their park. This is a very important thing. Guaranteed value for money

Fantastic historical site. Guides were lovely and friendly. Highly recommend starting with the convicts walk just to get a layout of the grounds before you self wander. Entry includes a short cruise which is fantastic. The memorial is nice and doesn't take away from the purpose of the site.

What an amazing experience, so packed with history. The staff is friendly and very helpful, answering every question you might have. Good food and great coffee. We had a great time walking through almost every building, reading what happened and trying to understand what those people might have felt like. Being carted away from your home and family for stealing a bread or a coat. We are so lucky today. I would highly recommend a visit if you’re visiting Tasmania.

We spent half a day exploring Port Arthur Historic Site (we were very lucky to have beautiful weather). It is a great place to visit if you love walking and history. Tickets include the 40 minute walking tour and a 20 minute harbour cruise. The tour guide was great and very knowledgeable about the area and gave us a comprehensive overview of the history of the site. Well worth a visit while you're in Hobart.

If you love history then you cannot miss this place. Such a beautiful place with rich historic values. You need to buy ticket of $47 per head then start off with some 6 minutes video from the gallery. Take a cruise and enjoy the view of the island for good 10-15 minutes. Take long walks discovering nook and corners of this historic place. Its good for pictures. There is the availability of tour guides if you pay extra bucks. Got to learn a lot with lots of fun.

I was told this was a must visit as a tourist destination and we were not disappointed. Very well put together and managed. A really historical insight to the past 🙏 On deeper thoughts - it was quite sad, but also very fascinating…!

Interesting place to visit with over 39 buildings, some shells, some being done up to preserve & some (like the commanding officers house) in excellent condition complete with era appropriate furnishings. The included free boat trip of about 20 minutes around the penal colony graveyard and the separate island boys prison (you can visit both at additional cost) was interesting and a different perspective to view the harbour from. The general entry ticket allows you to visit on two consecutive days. I'd recommend bringing coats as most is exposed to the elements & few places to shelter.

A visit to this location is highly worthwhile, as it offers a captivating blend of rich history and breathtaking natural beauty. The stunning scenery surrounds you wherever you explore, making it an absolute must-see for anyone traveling to Tasmania. I highly recommend including this destination in your itinerary.

A must - do when visiting Tasmania. A wonderful insight into Australia's convict past. Guided tours are excellent, guides are knowledgeable and entertaining. Most areas are easily accessed, but there are hills. Your ticket is a two day pass which gives plenty of time to see everything.

Enjoyed the visit which you could complete in about 2-3 hours (including a guided tour and boat ride). Beautiful surrounding with lots of history. The guides were informative and entertaining. The cafe had reasonable food options to cater for most people. Parking was a bit hard to find, but no problems of you are happy to walk from the overflow car park about 500m away.

One of the best managed historical sites I've ever visited. The facilities and standard to which they are maintained are excellent. This is a must visit in Tasmania. The only constructive feedback I'd give is that perhaps the marketing should be increased as prior to visiting I had no idea of the activities on-site or the sheer size of it.

Great place to visit if you love to walk and love history. The tour guides are great and very knowledgeable about the area. There is so much to see here like the beautiful gardens and the old prison. You can take a boat trip around the lagoon and have a meal at the restaurant. Well worth a visit.

I wanted to visit this place because it has so much history and is an icon of Tasmania. I bought my ticket in advance and the drive to get there was amazing. I drove 1 hour 30 minutes from Hobart and had free parking. At the entrance, I showed my ticket and along came the ticket for the cruise across the bay. We went first to a room where we took a card and could find the characters on the wall. I loved the idea and it made it very dynamic. My 2 year old son loved it. We watched the video with some history and important information and went on our cruise. The tour was great and full of details of how it used to be. As soon as it was over we went to see the ruins and many cool places. Be sure to read the history beforehand or take a guide with you to understand what each place is all about. We really liked that it had a lot of ramps and it was easy to take our baby pram. Despite being a very sad place with many shocking events, it is part of Australia and its history. It was worth visiting.

Our second time here, and it's just as captivating. We purchased a 'Ticket of Leave'. It is a 2 year ticket which includes entry to Cascade female factory. It was $20 extra and is excellent value. We may now enter both facilities as often as we like while we are here. The site is kept in outstanding condition. Historic sites need to be kept in the condition they are found and should not be modified beyond their original structure. The main concern is the safety of the site for those entering. This has been performed perfectly and has kept the site close to the original. Tickets include a 20-minute harbour cruise, which is both delightful and informative. There are cafes and a restaurant on-site. Toilets are in several places. Parking is abundant. There are many chairs and tables throughout the site. Port Arthur is 100 acres, and the single ticket is valid for 2 days. If staying close by, I would be going both days to split up the walking.

Originally came here for the ghost tour but ended up going in the day as well to look around and take photos. It was really cool how I the separate prison they had set up interactive parts to the cells to allow you to learn about the prisoners and life at prison. Really enjoyed looking at the old buildings.

Wow.. truely wow! A perfect day out for you and your partner or a full family day. The cruise 🚢 that’s included in your ticket really helps break up the day! We followed the map all the way and everything was so clear. At each location we were support by very knowledgeable and brilliant staff. It’s deserving of world wonder 🙌 honestly I could not speak more highly of the experience. Plus - a great day of exercise makes room for a hearty meal 🥘

This place the grounds is so big the prison, church, gardens, memorial site and the houses that the soldiers families stayed in. Honestly if you really want to take everything you would need 2 mostly 3 hours so you can take your time! As I was on part of a tour I did not get around the whole site. The surrounding water scenery is beautiful too. Take a guided tour guide as well. There is a fantastic big cafe and big gift shop. A cool museum. I would 100%recommend visiting this place just give yourself the time to walk around slowly and absorb all the history by reading the plaques amd taking in the beauty of the old.

Must visit place if you visit Hobart. Good for any age and can learn the history of Australian convict settlement. It's a popular historical landmark. The ticket is two day access ticket. And the boat tour included the ticket and that was amazing.

We enjoyed our visit to this historic site. The grounds, buildings & surrounding settings are relaxing & ruggedly beautiful. Interesting insight into the history of the convict past of Australia, preservation of our history, (be it good or bad) for future generations is vital to our nation

Allow loads of time for this and wear comfortable shoes!!! If you are driving be prepared for slow drivers! There is so much to see and explore however a lot of it is in ruins and some is closed to the public as well. There is also a boat ride included. Be prepared for all kinds of weather; I didn’t have a hat or sunscreen- mistake :( no ghosts jumped out at me; however there are chilling stories and little mysteries to discover around every corner and in every nook and cranny. Also don’t forget to take plenty of water as it’s a big place to explore!

It's definitely a nice place to visit. It is a tendered port when arriving by cruise ship. Very interesting history and a great place to walk around and get our steps in. There was no admission charged, and we could go anywhere that wasn't roped off. There are also trails through the wooded areas and along the shoreline, but be aware that they do not have very good sinage and some were dead ends.

Considering all the dark history here and the terrible mistreatment of the convicts, it really is a beautiful and serene area now. Many historical sites to see and walk thru. Also offered are self-guided audio walking tours, a boat ride around the port area, and plenty of botanical gardens to sit and look the deep blue waters of the port. There's a nice eating area conveniently located at the Visitors Center where one can order one of the many items they serve, both hot and cold, including a mint chocolate chip nutty butty bar! Yum.

Wow, what a place to visit. The site not only has amazing historical sites, but is an amazing place to walk around. The ticket gives you 2 days entry which I'd recommend as you need a good 5 hrs to see all the site! I'm only posting a few pics to give you a feel!

We did the Ghost tour. It went for an hour and a half. We didn't see any ghosts but the atmosphere created by the tour guide certainly made us feel like we were about to. The ghost stories and historic facts added to the experience. Totally recommended.

A must see historical site if visiting Tasmania. Easy to book a bus tour to get there as well. They have guides there during the day to talk about how the Convicts were treated and how they went through their daily lives. There is also an option to get a short Boat cruise around the Isle of dead as well.

Remarkable! Hidden at the bay of Hobart, remarkable cave offers a unique formation. It is very easy to get there by a vehicle. I have no idea if bus service is available, but there is a lot of car parking spot. You first can witness the bay and her beauty and turn towards your right, towards remarkable cave. You will slightly descend down on well man-made tracks. You can view the cave from the enclosure but I discovered that you can actually climb down since there is a ladder behind the enclosure. Be careful when waves is rushing through the caves. It is strong waves that can drag people with it. There are lots of stones available to build Japanese prayer shine (If you have time). There are lots of spots around this bay to see, so do not spend too much time here. You do not have to pay to view this.

Well worth the drive past Port Arthur Historical site to see this natural coastal experience. Easy parking. Easy walk, but stairs can be steep for those with disabilities or injuries. Fantastic walkway and viewing platform. This whole coastline is spectacular. I recommend doing the other walks whilst here, too.

More of an Okay cave, but worth a stop if you're already at Port Arthur to pad out the day. Might be more exciting if you haven't seen this style of cave before/if you were able to walk through it. Personally I thought the views over the coast from the top of the walkway were better.

What a Remarkable cave indeed! it was such a windy day, thankfully, to the iron staircase we were able to walk down to explore the entrance to the cave. It's a beautiful scenic location with a short walk (15-20mnts) unfortunately not wheelchair accessible.

This is a remarkable, natural wonder! It demonstrates Tassie's diverse natural landscape and really leaves a WOW factor! It is not far off the main road at all and is definitely worth the stop! It is also incredible to look at the engineering behind putting in the footpath and lookout areas. Toilet facilities are there and this cannot be recommended enough!

Love this! Beautiful scenery at the lookout. Walk down and up on steps to get the cave. Wasn't too bad, but if you have sore knees, you might find it hard. But it's definitely worth it!

Just 5 mins walk from car park. The stairs are moderate steep but well fenced of. The nearest point to caves you can reach is what you see in the photos. Can’t really go any further and see caves nearer. I would have loved if it was that way.

Wowsa. Great place to visit. Awesome walk to crescent beach. You can walk the whole way or as far as you like. Spectacular views and no trees to obscure the them. The deep chasm part way along with a bridge over it is breathtaking. Definitely worth a visit.

Well worth the extra distance and the short walk down to this Remarkable Cave. Be sure to visit on low tide so you can capture the shape of Tasmania in the cave opening. Check out my photos and concentrate on the white and blue section. Can you see the shape of Tassie?

Beautiful place, definitely recommend driving an extra 10-min if you're visiting Port Arthur. Plenty of parks and easy to get to. The view was amazing!

The site itself would have been breathtaking but it was exceptionally disappointing rhat you cannot walk on the beach now (although people have disobeyed these instructions and taken a chance on the slippery rocks). We had come early to ensure we were there at low tide to be able to be safe while walking. Could therefore not see the second tunnel. DISAPPOINTING

This beauty is not far from the Port Arthur Historic Site, yet so many miss it. It is a 10 minute drive from Port Arthur, then about a 100 metre walk. From here, you can also do a 3 hour walk along Maingon Bay out to Crescent Bay and Mount Brown (I highly recommend this). It certainly is a remarkable cave. It’s one of those mesmerising flows of water that hold me captive just looking into the water and watching the sea swells race through the tunnel. The viewing platform area is where the roof of the sea cave would have subsided. It has two entrances on the ocean side, which were created by erosion along fractures created by ancient earthquakes. So, in essence, you have two tunnels diverging into one and ending inland at the viewing platform. Unless you walk through the cave at low tide (which is highly discouraged) you will only see one tunnel out to the ocean. But you can hear the boom of water at high tide indicating that there is more water than space in the cavern somewhere. The other remarkable claim for this cave - at the right angle it forms a reasonable map of Tassie. It is remarkable and very special. Remarkable Cave is a natural arch made in the rock by sea water, which you can see from a metal platform near ground level. There is no access to the cave itself unless you jump over the rail, which was disappointing. There are also nice views of the rugged coastline. To be honest, if you have already seen the Tasman Arch and Devils Kitchen then it may not be worth the extra drive for this.

This was such an experience! The walk to see the cave is brilliant and maintained very well. There are a few stairs to get to the cave. Hence not very wheelchair or pram friendly. The scenery is beautiful and totally worth the travel and the walk.

WOW, go there on a windy & wild day like we did! The cave is then truly remarkable! The echoing of the waves as they crash through the cliff into the chasm is nature at it's best. Then there's the salt spray & water dowsing as you gaze at the incoming wave waiting for that special camera shot

After walking all day at Port Arthur, we nearly didn't go. We thought it was a wonderful end to our day. Quite a lot of steps go down to the cave. But it's worth it.

Great little walk down to a viewing platform. It is mostly stairs but all our 3 girls were fine with it. Aged 3, 6 & 8. Interesting information at the platform, toilets up top at the car park.

Call into remarkable cave for a great view and a short or long (there are long walks along the cliffs available) well worth calling in. Ensure you purchase park pass in advance.

A very short, but steep staircase walk down from Maingon Bat parking lot, this cave is a cool sight and very easy to access. Some cool rock formations and lighting bring to life this natural structure. Usually less crowded early, or right towards the end of the day.

This trip came about over dinner with friends who had done a number of hikes in the past. Being new to hiking, I didn't know what to expect however, having recently returned from our LAA Three Capes Walk and had time to reflect, I can honestly say the whole tour exceeded my expectations. The rugged Tasmanian coastline was breathtaking, the wilderness sublime and the walk itself was challenging yet rewarding. Special call out to our wonderful guides (Danny, Helena and Chrissie) who's knowledge, expertise and professionalism made the whole trip truly remarkable and above all else, bloody good fun. Thank you legends! Finally, the accommodation, food and company was also excellent making this a bucket list item not to be missed.

So this trip was planned over a bottle of wine as neither my friend Kellie nor myself had ever done anything like this. It was decided as a way to celebrate my 50th birthday we would embark on the Three Capes Walk with Life's an Adventure and all I can say it was amazing. Day 1 trek was really good, the views spectacular, the lunch provided and location to eat was just perfect and then dinner at Restuarant 1830 at Port Authur was delicious and paired well with fabulous local wines. Day 2 I was a little hesitant to do longer walk but with a little encouragement from oue group and guides did the longer option in wet and slippery conditions and all I can say is WOW I am so glad that I did. Again the scenery was unbelievable. Lunch again and the chosen spot to eat was good. Dinner that night was at our accommodation at Stewarts Bay lodge and was also great paired with so lovely local wine. Day 3 our helicopter flight was cancelled so on the boat we went and it was awesome to see the capes from sea level. Day 3 walk was hard but really good , lots of steps but so worth it. Our guides Dave and Danny were the best, very informative with history, jokes and encouragement, the pop up Cafe ( morning and afternoon teas) along the walks were really unexpected but both Kellie and myself were grateful. Lastly I really want to thank the guides as they also drove us to our accommodation and pointed us in the direction of pubs in our area so we could celebrate our achievement. We have been told we were the best group of the season so far. Please pass on our thanks and appreciation to our guides Danny and Dave, you guys rock. Definitely recommend to do a guided walk for anyone who is entertaining the idea.

3 Capes Pack Free - Oh Wow! I just completed this walk with my daughter to celebrate her 30th birthday. What an amazing experience to be had. Our guides Steve & Josh were wonderful & fun loving, encouraging us all the way. Their knowledge of the local areas we walked as well as information about Tassie in general was outstanding. The walk itself was spectacular with many great photo opportunities to be had. We experienced one 35 degree day, one day with rain for the last 5k and plenty of beautiful sunshine, making this a fun & memorable experience. Accomodation at night was very comfortable at Stewart’s Bay Lodge with exceptional top quality food and wines at restaurant 1830 plus at the lodge itself. A visit to the Gin factory plus a helicopter or boat ride for those who wished - topping off a great “Life’s an Adventure” experience never to be forgotten.

Amazing world class walk. The huts are more like mini resorts & are in the most amazing places.. walking is easy, paths are spectacular..

Such an epic track !! Huts are top notch and can’t speak highly enough of the park rangers at each cabin… they truely are the platinum finish.. Great all round people who just really know their stuff!! Also a final shout out to the people who built the track, there is a serious amount of effort that went into it - just perfect !!

What an amazing Walk, great cabins and accommodation, informative park rangers. walk through amazing eco systems with outstanding views and scenery. Amazing variety of plants , trees and flowers. Very affordable Walk itself in my opinion is quite easy. a must do for wild life lovers

We did the Three capes Walk mid September. 1st for the season. Fabulous scenery, great bunch of people, awesome guides. Great food and wine.

My friends and I recently completed the Three Capes Walk with Life’s an Adventure. What a fantastic experience! We booked this trip based on the fact that we preferred not to carry our full packs. We only had our day packs which made the walking far more enjoyable. Added to this was the accommodation - we stayed at the lovely Stewarts Bay Lodge both nights, meaning we did not have to pack up each morning. Such a joy not to have to do this. You can wake up, go to breakfast and then just leave. The accommodation was very comfortable – apartment style with great views. On top of this all meals are included, breakfast at the lodge, snacks and lunch along the walk and delicious 2 course meals with wine included each night! What a lovely way to finish the day, relaxing with new and old friends. The first night was at the restaurant at Port Arthur – looking out over this iconic setting, and the second night was at the lodge. The food was really delicious and you got to chose what you wanted to eat. Certainly not what you expect on a 3 day walk. We loved this. Our guides were fabulous. We stopped frequently to look at the flora and fauna (and simply stunning views) along the walk. The guides were so knowledgeable about it all and answered all our questions. Our daily briefings and debriefs were such an integral part of the trip. Knowing in advance what was coming up the following day meant some of our fellow trekkers were able to decide if some of the steeper or stair-filled sections were best not to attempt. This meant that our guides had time to help craft an alternative experience for them so as they did not miss out on anything and could still enjoy all the area had to offer. We would then get together that night and exchange stories and photos. Having two guides really helped make this possible. We finished the tour with a spectacular helicopter ride over Cape Pillar and Tasman Island. Due to the weather, we nearly didn’t get up (safety first) but it cleared at the last minute and we were treated to pristine views that just made this a once in a lifetime experience. To see these majestic cliffs from this view point was something really special. I really recommend this option. It was the best way to finish off a simply fabulous weekend. We all decided that this was one of our favourite and most well organised walks we have done. I would highly recommend Life’s an Adventure’s Three Capes Walk. Such a great experience.

Fantastic, fabulous and breathtaking The guides were amazing ..loved every minute..

What a magnificent place. The walk was quite fun there, as we walked downhill but way back was quite not as fun. So make sure you go early and, go there first while you got more juice in you. If you plan on going to the other lookout at Cape Raoul. The big waves are very hard to catch, but the view was well worth the walk. Nothing like having lunch looking out to the ocean at the giant rock cliff.

Easy walking with well formed tracks and steps on mostly gentle slopes. A couple of sandy spots towards the beach. Views are off the charts.

A beautiful 3.5hr hike through ever-changing vegetation and rugged coastline. Highly recommend this.

Fantastic scenery definitely worth the effort of walking the track all the way down to the beach. Some areas can be challenging therefore a level of fitness is required, especially for the steep incline back up to the car park.

A generally easy walk, and the only hard part is the final few steps down to the water at the end of the track; I make it around 100 or so and very steep in places. The walk is a mostly level and pleasant walk through coastal scrub and tea tree, and when there is a climb it's a gentle zig zag up the hill. It still takes 4-5 hours of steady walking though. On the day I went I was actually overtaken by a couple of joggers so it seems to be popular with all levels, not just novices like me. The shipstern bluff lookout has brilliant views in its own right, so if you're after photos you don't need to do the whole walk.

What a place! We made the trek out here for the Red Bull Cape Fear surf camp. We didn’t get 100ft waves but they were still massive. The walk from the car park took about 90 minutes and was breathtaking. Definitely worth the hike

One of the amazing hiking experience in Tassie. The freshness of the air, rejuvenates after the walk. The tracks are well lead, wear proper food wear, can be slippery after rain.

We enjoyed the walk to Shipstern Bluff lookout. The trail was great and the scenery beautiful. Hold on to your hats once you can see water! We managed the walk with two small children and various combinations of walking/carrying.

It’s lovely place for cellar door. Great setting and friendly staff. I went there for beer and gin tasting. The sloe gin is the best. Beer is great too. The price is reasonable. I feel like they should charge more for their service though. It’s worth the drive and the money. Happy to go back anytime.

Great service, has x2 gin tasting paddles and a whisky paddle and was hard to pick a favourite. Their butterfly gin is so much better than the popular “ink gin” McHenrys were the first to actually make this “blue” gin that turns a pinkish colour when mixed with tonic in Australia, however it’s super underrated and much better than Ink gin!! Their federation gin is my other favourite, I love that they infuse botanicals from each state giving it the taste and unique flavour of an authentic Australian gin!! Fun fact - one of the only gins used at Parliament House!! Definitely recommend and have bought another bottle!!!

Was a little disappointed with my visit here. Tastings were not complementary and there was no presentation on the 'background or description' of any of the products being offered. I did buy a bottle of barrel aged gin as it extremely easy to drink. The young girl in charge of the tasting was horrified that I wanted to try all samples neat. Why??

One of my favourite gins and finally visited the distillery. It was a two member team effort on a public holiday and they made the best to keep everything in order. Bakire for money and the cheese platter was exceptional. Highly recommended if you are around port Arthur to visit this hidden gin

Well worth a stop for a tasting if your near Port Arthur. Staff were really helpful in giving recommendations, we particularly loved the sloe gin and butterfly pea gin

Loved our tasting experience. Damon was so knowledgeable and passionate. The ambiance made for a nice relaxing setting with wonderful gin flavors. (Some brief tasting notes to accompany the tasting board would have helped me remember the insight shared by Damon). So many favourites but the Butterfly Gin got my vote on the day.

Ignore the poor rated review prior to mine, clearly someone self entitled and can’t work out how to ring the HUGE bell at the cellar door that says “please ring if cellar door unattended”. Our visit was great, we were greeted by Kane? the brewer and QLD native. We did the gin and whisky tastings. Generous measures and good chat about them all. As a whisky lover and Scotsman, the whisky was great. Cool little distillery, next time I’ll take a tour round. Kane was a good bloke too who was happy to chat away. Great value for tastings. Would recommend.

We travel from Melbourne, drove for two hours from Hobart, eager to experience the distillery that had been highly recommended by a friend, particularly for the warm reception from the front desk. Unfortunately, upon our arrival, according to the opening hours listed on the map, we were met with disappointment as there was no one to receive us. With no signal available, it was impossible to reach out via internet or phone for assistance. This situation was quite disheartening, especially after such a long drive with high expectations. In the end, we found solace in the service provided at Dunalley Bay Distillery.

Came to try the gin and beer. Great line up of gins and my top pick of the three I tried would be the federation gin. My husband did the beer tasting. The stout was his pick. The only gripe we had was that for $15 for a beer tasting paddle to only get 3 tiny (shot size) glasses it was a bit over priced. Not sure whether the server had made a mistake or not.

A great tour of the distillery by B2. Both fun and educational. The tasting experience was excellent. The Sloe Gin and Federation Gin were our favourites.

Enjoyed our whiskey and beer tasting today. Whiskey was sooo smooth, very impressed, definitely worth a try! We also got to try one of the best Australian Sloe gins, did not disappoint 👌 Sloe paste is really good too 🤤

An absolute gem of a place, look out for the Sunday sessions with music. Staff are so welcoming & knowledgeable about their wonderful beer & spirits in a truly magical forest setting. Their products use the spring on the property which makes them taste so good. Our pooch was made to feel like a King outside in the beer garden & don't be surprised to see Devils, Wombats etc.. Love the Pale McAle best one I've tasted & I've sampled a few.

Remarkable! Hidden at the bay of Hobart, remarkable cave offers a unique formation. It is very easy to get there by a vehicle. I have no idea if bus service is available, but there is a lot of car parking spot. You first can witness the bay and her beauty and turn towards your right, towards remarkable cave. You will slightly descend down on well man-made tracks. You can view the cave from the enclosure but I discovered that you can actually climb down since there is a ladder behind the enclosure. Be careful when waves is rushing through the caves. It is strong waves that can drag people with it. There are lots of stones available to build Japanese prayer shine (If you have time). There are lots of spots around this bay to see, so do not spend too much time here. You do not have to pay to view this.

Well worth the drive past Port Arthur Historical site to see this natural coastal experience. Easy parking. Easy walk, but stairs can be steep for those with disabilities or injuries. Fantastic walkway and viewing platform. This whole coastline is spectacular. I recommend doing the other walks whilst here, too.

More of an Okay cave, but worth a stop if you're already at Port Arthur to pad out the day. Might be more exciting if you haven't seen this style of cave before/if you were able to walk through it. Personally I thought the views over the coast from the top of the walkway were better.

What a Remarkable cave indeed! it was such a windy day, thankfully, to the iron staircase we were able to walk down to explore the entrance to the cave. It's a beautiful scenic location with a short walk (15-20mnts) unfortunately not wheelchair accessible.

This is a remarkable, natural wonder! It demonstrates Tassie's diverse natural landscape and really leaves a WOW factor! It is not far off the main road at all and is definitely worth the stop! It is also incredible to look at the engineering behind putting in the footpath and lookout areas. Toilet facilities are there and this cannot be recommended enough!

Love this! Beautiful scenery at the lookout. Walk down and up on steps to get the cave. Wasn't too bad, but if you have sore knees, you might find it hard. But it's definitely worth it!

Just 5 mins walk from car park. The stairs are moderate steep but well fenced of. The nearest point to caves you can reach is what you see in the photos. Can’t really go any further and see caves nearer. I would have loved if it was that way.

Wowsa. Great place to visit. Awesome walk to crescent beach. You can walk the whole way or as far as you like. Spectacular views and no trees to obscure the them. The deep chasm part way along with a bridge over it is breathtaking. Definitely worth a visit.

Well worth the extra distance and the short walk down to this Remarkable Cave. Be sure to visit on low tide so you can capture the shape of Tasmania in the cave opening. Check out my photos and concentrate on the white and blue section. Can you see the shape of Tassie?

Beautiful place, definitely recommend driving an extra 10-min if you're visiting Port Arthur. Plenty of parks and easy to get to. The view was amazing!

The site itself would have been breathtaking but it was exceptionally disappointing rhat you cannot walk on the beach now (although people have disobeyed these instructions and taken a chance on the slippery rocks). We had come early to ensure we were there at low tide to be able to be safe while walking. Could therefore not see the second tunnel. DISAPPOINTING

This beauty is not far from the Port Arthur Historic Site, yet so many miss it. It is a 10 minute drive from Port Arthur, then about a 100 metre walk. From here, you can also do a 3 hour walk along Maingon Bay out to Crescent Bay and Mount Brown (I highly recommend this). It certainly is a remarkable cave. It’s one of those mesmerising flows of water that hold me captive just looking into the water and watching the sea swells race through the tunnel. The viewing platform area is where the roof of the sea cave would have subsided. It has two entrances on the ocean side, which were created by erosion along fractures created by ancient earthquakes. So, in essence, you have two tunnels diverging into one and ending inland at the viewing platform. Unless you walk through the cave at low tide (which is highly discouraged) you will only see one tunnel out to the ocean. But you can hear the boom of water at high tide indicating that there is more water than space in the cavern somewhere. The other remarkable claim for this cave - at the right angle it forms a reasonable map of Tassie. It is remarkable and very special. Remarkable Cave is a natural arch made in the rock by sea water, which you can see from a metal platform near ground level. There is no access to the cave itself unless you jump over the rail, which was disappointing. There are also nice views of the rugged coastline. To be honest, if you have already seen the Tasman Arch and Devils Kitchen then it may not be worth the extra drive for this.

This was such an experience! The walk to see the cave is brilliant and maintained very well. There are a few stairs to get to the cave. Hence not very wheelchair or pram friendly. The scenery is beautiful and totally worth the travel and the walk.

WOW, go there on a windy & wild day like we did! The cave is then truly remarkable! The echoing of the waves as they crash through the cliff into the chasm is nature at it's best. Then there's the salt spray & water dowsing as you gaze at the incoming wave waiting for that special camera shot

After walking all day at Port Arthur, we nearly didn't go. We thought it was a wonderful end to our day. Quite a lot of steps go down to the cave. But it's worth it.

Great little walk down to a viewing platform. It is mostly stairs but all our 3 girls were fine with it. Aged 3, 6 & 8. Interesting information at the platform, toilets up top at the car park.

Call into remarkable cave for a great view and a short or long (there are long walks along the cliffs available) well worth calling in. Ensure you purchase park pass in advance.

A very short, but steep staircase walk down from Maingon Bat parking lot, this cave is a cool sight and very easy to access. Some cool rock formations and lighting bring to life this natural structure. Usually less crowded early, or right towards the end of the day.

Perfect log cabin with amazing views of the bay and short walk to the Port Arthur Historic Site. The cabin was super cosy and had a washing machine and dryer- we loved that! The warm wood tones of the cabin makes you feel right at home. The balcony was fantastic to enjoy some drinks and see pademelons/wallabies. The restaurant was lovely too with spacious seating. I do recommend booking for dinner in advance. All in all a great place to stay in Port Arthur ❤️

Stayed here for 2 nights between Christmas & New Year. Staff are friendly, hospitable & helpful. Location is great, restaurant is nearby with good food (tho a bit pricy). The driveway between cabins & parking spots are on a slope. The one bedroom cabin is huge, very clean (didn't see any bugs or spider webs or mossies), decent kitchen & washing machine. One star taken off from the dim of lighting, it's a wooden cabin with very dim lighting, which makes it very dark and dull. Be careful of birds/ possoms on the roof at night. Also, where our car was parked ended up with a lot of bugs stuck on the roof, which we had to remove with a high pressure cleaner in town.

Had dinner at the restaurant. The only thing good about it was the view and even that is covered by trees. Steak was well done or could of called it charcoal after asking for medium well. The Battered fish tasted like mashed batter. Zero taste and could of cooked better chips in the air fryer at home. Kids chicken schnitzel was the best food by a mile its shame we didn't all get it. Will not return waste of over $100

Great cabins with a beautiful beach only metres away. The restaurant was amazing with sensational food, friendly service and a great way to spend our “last meal” before heading out on the next morning to the Three Capes hike.

Welcome to my review of Stewart Bay Lodge, located on the beautiful island of Tasmania. As a first-time visitor, I was struck by the warm and welcoming atmosphere, the friendly staff. The Lodge has everything you need for a comfortable stay - from spacious rooms and modern amenities to a variety of outdoor activities close by. The Hallmark of Stewart Bay Lodge is their dedication to offering a five-star experience. From the moment of arrival, we felt spoiled and looked after. The restaurant was first class and Rose gave us incredible service. The food was superb. We stayed in one of the Log Cabins which was comfortable and well equipped. The views from our balcony were breathtaking, with panoramic views over the bay. The location was perfect for us with easy access to the 3 Capes Hike. I was very impressed with our stay at Stewart Bay Lodge. As somebody who likes their holidays to be active, this was the ideal destination. From the quality of service to the stunning scenery, this is definitely a place that I will return to in the future

Loved the cabin and everything about the place but a couple of issues I ran into was the plumbing is very loud. And the rooms were not well heated. The beds had electric blankets but for some reason didn't work.

The website needs to make it clear this is 100% self-catering, and despite the "luxury" price and nice views, it has vibes of staying in a cheap motel or caravan park cabin. There is no daily service, and despite having a restaurant on-site, you cannot get meals delivered to your cabin!! I am autistic and don't like eating in noisy restaurants with other people, so this was a big disappointment. I would have been happy to pay $200+ for a meal to be delivered to enjoy on our own peaceful balcony to complete our luxury experience - their loss I guess. Very bad business decision. We settled for frozen pizza from the general store instead. One big plus is they have a couple of Chargefox EV chargers behind reception. You need your own Type 2 cable. The inclusions in the room were disappointing. There's a coffee plunger, but no proper coffee. Just a tray of sachets like you find in cheap motels, and a tiny long life milk. There's a notice on the wall demanding that you do your dishes on departure or risk a $30 charge. These sort of things are not what you expect with a luxury experience. Would have been nice to have some complimentary wine, chocolates and fruit on arrival. None of that here. A general store on the corner sells some basic grocery supplies and take-away food. The groceries are very expensive, and meat options are limited. Suggest you find a Coles or Woolies along the way. You have been warned! There's no wifi in the rooms, but there is a Telstra 4G signal (low). Lucky we brought our Chromecast along and hooked it up to the TV so we were able to stream Netflix over 4G on the first night. The second day we woke up and there was a cruise ship anchored across the bay - and as soon as that thing arrived we could no longer use the internet because the local phone towers could not handle the extra traffic. The bed was good but the pillows were very high and hard as a rock. There were 4 pillows, and all of them the same. Woke up each day with a headache. Suggest you bring your own pillows or you may need Panadol or a chiropractor. Be aware of the fridge!!! I put some ice creams from the corner store in the freezer and the next day they had fully melted. Turns out the temperature was on the lowest possible setting presumably to save 15 cents a day on electricity. Milk, meat, and other perishables will spoil if kept at these temperatures for too long. The lack of attention to the little things, and all the penny-pinching for the price you pay makes this a once-only experience.

Really beautiful setting and lodge accommodation. Extremely comfortable bed, lovely light filled bathroom. Restaurant was fabulous, delicious food and great cocktails. Stayed here as part of an Auswalk 4 day 3 capes experience, and SBL made this an awesome experience. Lovely staff. Thank you SBL, would love to come back.

Great location for the hiking nearby and the rooms are awesome and big however, they were very stingy with cosmetic products at the hotel and this hotel would be so awesome if it had a pool

We rang the lodge with a last minute booking request due to our camping plans being washed out. Susie was super helpful and so kind in helping us secure a two bedroom log cabin at an affordable price. The cabin was clean and super comfortable for our family of four. The location is brilliant for active families as it’s right on the water and on the walking track to Port Arthur historic site. Even though the weather wasn’t great our family had a wonderful stay! Thanks again Susie and team 🙏🏼

Beautiful location and within walking distance of historic site. Accommodation spacious, comfortable. My only complaints are a lack of a dish washing brush and a wobbly toilet roll holder. Wonderful bush walks in the vicinity.

A small memorial walkway from the prison area. Can be quite hard to find given the other main attractions within Port Arthur, and is only recognisable from the sign and short walkway. There's a few plaques at the side of the pathway dedicated to soldiers.

I was not affected directly by the events of 1996 but I like to go to this place to respect the memory of those caught up in the events of that day and who suffered and still continue to suffer, in this place that has a long history of suffering. I'll note the words written on the remembrance pool "May we who come to this garden cherish life for the sake of those who died; Cherish compassion for the sake of those who gave aid; Cherish peace for the sake of those in pain". Today I choose to remember the acts of heroism and self sacrifice, and then continue on my way around the historic site on a lovely sunny day.

Last time I visited this place the Broad Arrow Cafe was still operating! Sad that only a shell of the place is left. Another somber and tranquil place in memory of those who perish here 25 years ago.

Such a peaceful garden and the shell of the cafe where Australia’s worst massacre took place in the year 2000. I couldn’t help but think about all the people that would have been eating at the restaurant when the shooting took place. Many of them tourists, never to return home. I liked the leaves in the water representing each person that died.

Very touching memorial, a reminder if very tragic quite recent events.

Better signage is needed - not the easiest place to find on the grounds. Worth visiting though, nice quiet place for reflection of its significance.

Wow...such a quiet and peaceful setting created out of the ruins of a catastrophic time in our worlds history. Make of it what you will, but it is definitely a drawing place for reflection and redirection for the moral compass. The truth may never be known, but as long as we can take a positive and constructive bearing from events such as this, then I truly believe the monument has served its purpose. May they all rest in peace, Amen.

I think what I like most about this memorial is its subtlety, its reverence and the peaceful and reflective nature of it. You could easily spend a day at Port Arthur and miss it, I assume by design, but it is worth a look, to read the names of those lost and to see inside the shell of the cafe where it all happened. You leave with a deeper sadness than you arrive, that is for certain.

The guard tower looks somewhat medievil in style but this is likely the British influence on the architecture. In really good condition and it was wonderful to look around it.

What a view, best thing on the peninsula beside Port Arthur. A most see.

The walk to Mount Brown is excellent and we'll marked, until you get to the Crescent Bay lookout bench. A small rock cairn marks the rockier pathway up. Walked late June and had the path almost entirely on our own. A little damp but simply beautiful stroll. Easy grade. Keep the kids close, when near the blowhole. Nothing comes out of there in one piece.

A nice spot with beautiful panoramic views. Parking is mearly a few metres from the viewing platform and access couldn't be easier. It's right next to the remarkable cave,but you will need to climb stairs to access the cave. Worth the trip if your already in or around port arthur.

You should visit on a sunny day. Getting here is easy and lot of parking is available. The walk to the Maingon lookout Bay is not too far from the car parking area. It is like 2 minutes. The blue and green colours comes out so well in summer. We visited this srea in 2020 February and covered the coast in one day. There are many awesome spots to see in Hobart. On the right is the path to the Remarkable Caves.

Gorgeous lookouts and while you're there do not forget to go down at the caves track. Simply amazing. National Park Passes may be required.

Beautiful place again worth a look

Awesome experience, Wow view. There are some awesome trail to go towards Maingon Blowhole as well and ahead as well, we did till Maingon blowhole and it was amazing experience, I must say it’s just worth it and it’s a must to do, atleast 4-6 hours can be given to do this complete track, but Maingon blowhole is just 1-1.5 hr return which you can easily do. Loved it.

A great view! The remarkable cave was closed (reopening June), but still a lovely spot to soak in the views. Longer walks nearby too.

The Government Gardens at Port Arthur were originally established in the late 1840s as an outdoor leisure area for the military and civil officials at the penal settlement. The existing gardens is a historically re-created landscape using an 1858 survey and extensive research of historical photographs and investigations including soil analysis, geophysical and archaeological investigations. As you can see from the photographs here, it's a very pleasant walk through the gardens along the path leading up to the Government Cottage and it's just as beautiful overlooking the gardens from the front veranda of the Cottage.
