It is the best museum in the world. I was there 4 days. But you need 3 months to see all. Painting is like magical. You can not stop looking. I can say the best experience I had.

Perfect for spending a cold winter day indoors, immersed in art and history! The tickets can be purchased online. Need separate tickets for separate buildings though... Or a combined ticket for the whole complex. Excellent service, old ladies sitting on chairs in the corners of various halls are very helpful. Lavatories are very clean, the Hermitage Cafe is a bit pricey, which is normal. The gift shop has a wide variety of products related to the museum and the art. But you need literally 10 years to enjoy each and every one of the art pieces exhibited at the Hermitage, so wear comfortable shoes! 😁

We visited the Hermitage just because it is one of the most known places in the world. It is truly grandiose, though. The exhibition is marvelous and everything is organized. It is very hard to find parking there, and we had to drive around for a long time to finally snatch a spot, so make sure to arrive earlier before your time to go in. Buying tickets online was super easy and the website in general is very website user-friendly.

It takes at least 3-4 hours just to finish the ground floor to the full, even if you skip some of the exhibition rooms just taking a quick glance. Came as early as 1000H, and we waited til 1100H before acquiring a ticket. It is recommended to have a ticket in advance. The museum is enormous. We only lasted 1 hour inside due to sensory and information overload. 🤦🏼‍♂️😂 The toilets are located on the ground floor only.

This is the very first place we visited when we were in Russia. I saw a mummy here. I remember thinking of a game to play so my son wouldn't be bored. We hunted for the works of the teenage mutant ninja turles (Michael Angelo, Rafael, Leonardo and Donatello (he's in the building across unfortunately). I was already in awe when we found the Raphael... then we saw a Leonardo. It was soooo surreal. I never imagined I'll be seeing a Leonardo in my life time. This trip was really awe inspiring. I feel so blessed having been able to visit.

To be honest, It is the biggest and the most elegant museum. In my opinion it is superior than Louvre in Paris, British Museum in London. She was an awesome lady, with crystal clear English, strongly recommended to use this option.

As this Church much reminds on St. Basil's in Moscow it's not that old (neither is St. Pet as a city), but it has a very interesting history and breathtaking interiors which make it a must visit site. History facts: - it was built in 1883 to commemorate the place of Tsar Alexander II assassination in 1881 - therefore "spilled blood", - the Romanov imperial family funded the project, - in order to house the exact place of assassination inside the Church, they narrowed the canal, - after the 1917 Revolution overthrowing the Imperial regime, it was looted and semi-destroyed, - WWII and Leningrad siege brought further destroy and it was turned into a morgue, - after WWII Communist regime banned Church services likewise in all Russia, making it a warehouse, - it was rebuilt during the 90's and reopened in 1997 - toady it's not a working Church, but the world's biggest mosaic museum with over 7.500 sqm of amazing artwork. - photography is allowed, entry fee around 8$

The exterior is incredible. It fits that Russian Orthodox look that is so iconic. Truly a beautiful work with great architecture. The interior was... eh? Very crowded, there wasn't much successful work done to preserve the walls and ceilings. It is sad honestly.

i visited this church in happier times. Built on the spot of the bombing assignation of Alexander II. Construction began two years after the assassination in 1883 and was complete in 1907. Although not very old (even by American standards) the church is breathtaking and an important place in orthodox Christianity.

This was one of the worst trip, this was during winter time everything was covered in snow and as expected not a lot of tourists were there. I took a ticket to the museum, the lady who took my belongings was mocking me in Russian. I felt really uncomfortable and unwelcome there. So I ignored and went ahead anyways, there were just 2 guided tours. So no rush of tourists, still they would come to specifically to hurry up and move ahead. One of the lady even told me do not stop and go towards exit!!!!!Absolutely ridiculous. At least let me read what am I standing in front of. Waste of money and waste of time.

I visited Peterhof during a rainy summer day. When visiting Russia pay heed to the fact that Russia has rainy summers, not that sunny as one may expect. I take my hat off to this well preserved palace! Everywhere you look one can spot glittery statues, breathtaking fountains lavish salons, and so on. I’ve visited many European palaces, however, I must say they pale into comparison with the Russian ones. Getting there may not prove easy depending on the weather. We took the hydrofoil which you can find just on the banks of the Neva River, right behind The Winter Palace. It’s worth taking it, but, in our case the service stopped on our way back due to the heavy rain and wind. Plan ahead second routes should you end up being affected by unexpected weather conditions. Visiting the palaces requires paying at least three tickets. You may decide the sections from the palace you wish to see and wonder about. If possible purchase your tickets prior to your visit as the lines may be quite long and you may end up making a time consuming line under the rain or the bad weather. May you be lucky as to be there on a bright day, do share your beautiful pictures. On the bright side, one can bump into many squirrels mingling with the crowds; they love being given treats, have fun with them !

Beautiful place which is just 30 min away from the city. There are plenty of food spots inside, and the view on the Gulf of Finland is nice. Highly recommend to purchase entry tickets online to avoid the queues. The park is so lovely in autumn!

One of the best cathedrals I've ever been to. Both exterior and interior of the cathedral are amazing. The interior paintings and engravings are unrivaled while you can enjoy the picturesque view of St. Petersburg from the top of the building. The price of the museum is 350 ruble and you have to pay additional 200 rub for audio guide and further 200 rub to climb to the top of the cathedral.

The panoramic view from the top of the cathedral is indeed remarkable and It offers a magnificent view over the Neva River, the St. Isaac’s and the Palace Squares as well as the Peter and Paul Fortress. Make sure that you take into account the fact there is no elevator that could take you up there and will have to mount 262 steps of the spiral staircase by foot. You will be 43 meters above the ground and it could get windy. Saint Isaac’s Cathedral is an absolute must-see tourist attraction in Saint Petersburg. I strongly recommend that you go and see this masterpiece with your own eyes. St. Isaac's Cathedral was originally the city's main church and the largest cathedral in Russia. Amazing experience, loved it. Found little bird outside which I have never seen. See photo. We have not booked any guided tours inside, but another group let us joined them while we were inside. Yes, imagine this in England. No pay no service. Anyway. When you go in you get surrounded what you call "no phone era" when people did amazing things. Pay attention to every detail, some of the mosaic icons took 10 years to build. 10 years Karl!!!

St. Isaac's is still the world's largest Orthodox Shrine (the bigger future one in Bucharest is not yet finished) and the fourth largest Cathedral in the world. It was built in 1858 by aristocracy funding in honor of Isaac the Dalmatian who was a patron saint of city founder Peter the Great. They didn't spare which is visible from outside and specially inside. The exterior is adorned with a huge golden dome (which later inspired the US Capitol) and a total of 112 single hewn pink granite columns (you can see a movie and a model of building inside). The interior is simply amazing, so lavish and rich it's hard to say what's more beautiful. As all others in Russia it was banned for religion during the Communist regime and converted into a museum. Interesting fact is that St. Pet citizens refused being a Church again on a referendum, so it's still a museum (an outstanding one) with only occasional Church services. As in any museum there's an entry fee, with a separate fee if you want to climb the dome, which I strongly suggest for great views.

I had so warm walk with my soulmate in the amazing place with incredible views just everywhere you turn your head. The perennial trees, ponds, beautiful buildings with a long history. My family's favorite park grounds. We walk the grounds at least once a year. There are lots of fun paths for kids to explore. If you bring nuts you can also sometimes feed squirrels or chickadees. Don't forget to walk behind the palace to the left and explore some lovely gardens with statues there.

A wonderful park in the town of Pushkin, very close to Saint Petersburg. There are different types of tickets. Visitors can buy a ticket to enter the park or a combo ticket for both the park and the palace. Other types of tickets include tickets for tours and specific museums tickets. The park-only ticket is very cheap and has the shortest queuing line. There are some good dining options close to the beautiful lake. There’s also a small cafe close to the entrance overlooking the palace. In addition, a few food kiosks are scattered throughout the park.

Amazing historical place. There are big landscape and regular parks with monuments. Many flowers, birds, squirrels. You can have a trip on a gondola or a ferry across the lake. You can feel the greatness of Russian empire that doesn't exist anymore.

Amazing gardens. There are several pavilion to visit and they all have wildly different styles, which makes it fun. Some are available to visit with a ticket (like the amazing Cold Baths, where the Agathe Rooms are located) and some can be visited for free (like the Chinese style pavilion and the Italian Style pavilion with authentic roman mosaics from the 2nd century) Just strolling around is nice, and they are more chilled than Petergof, with lots of locals enjoying the scene.

A dream of a spacious garden. The beautiful Baroque palaces are surrounded by fantastic French and English gardens. There are also various very interesting outbuildings. You have to search in Europe for a long time to find comparable.

If you have time visit it. It is not like Petergoff, much bigger, and more places to see. Visit her palace and hermitage both interiors represents her unique personality. Hermitage pay is around 300 rubels. The entrance to the park around 150 rubels, and to the palace maybe 900 rubels, different prices for Russians. The queue to the palace can be very long. But everything is much more organised than in Petergoff. Gives you a very nice overall experience. Inside the park you can find fast food like hot dogs, tea and icecream... all around you when you walk the big park. Will take you one full day and you still might not finish it all. Alexandar palace has different entry, it is for free. Nice park, but you cant see the palace as it was under renovation when i made this review. The park is very nice though.

Beautiful. I went in February in the snow and again in May just before Victory Day. So gorgeous both times. The Hermitage and the square are breathtaking. Pictures from 120 years ago show the Hermitage with a different colour scheme which was more of a brown colour

Culmination of glory and power of 18th century czars era of Russia. All palaces around the square are visually magnificent and serve as museums nowadays. The square itself is large and home for several big gatherings. Also often street artists have their shows here or nearby. Tourists are also entertained here in many ways, like horse rides or photographs with empirical history person.

On my first day in Saint Petersburg, I was just rambling around Nevsky avenue and walked about 1.5 km to the place square without realizing that it is popular landmark. For a moment, it felt it is a touristy spot, so checked on google and it happened to be Palace Square right opposite to the State Hermitage Museum. I was stunned to see the massiveness of the whole square. You will find a lot of street musicians out there. Please do not forget to capture panorama shots of the square. It is worth watching.

Peter and Paul fortress is set on a tiny Hare island on the Neva river. It is the birthplace of the Imperial capital, as the city founder Peter the Great built a star shaped fortress here in 1703 from where the city started to grow. The primary purpose of the fortress was protection against the Suedes, but actually never served for that. Instead, it was a political prison. Today, it's main attraction is the same name Cathedral where the Royal Romanov family is buried including Peter the Great himself, as well the famous Catherine the Great. Apart from that, there are several museums across the island which you can visit according to your liking.

I took a helicopter ride, ~50eur 15min. Totally worth it. I definitely recommend the ride. The waiting time is no longer than 15min and it offers a really cool air point of view of the fortress.

One of the best places to have a glance of night view of St. Petersburg. The shore near to the Fortress looks directly to the main attractions such as Hermitage, St. Isaac, Yusupov Palace and many more. Must visit.

Must visit. A nice place to get a panoramic view of the the coastline of st Petersburg. Don’t miss the panorama view. You can also walk along the fort from the outside. Once done with the tour you can then take a boat ride for 1 hour along the canals of st Petersburg which starts from the fort

I walked up to fortress from my hotel at Nevsky avenue and enjoyed the sightseeing all the way to my destiny. You can snack on some ice cream and have beverages. There is a convergence of people every day. You can take tickets to the cathedral which costs about 500 rubles but it is worth spending. Glittering chandeliers and colourful art of the cathedral makes the whole experience exclusive. Usually, it is closed on Thursdays. This place is highly recommended to visit. I give it a thumbs up.

A good visit to close up to this iconic landmark. It's a big fort which you can enter free, with admission fees for the several separate museums. We bought the Combination ticket and still many places required an extra fee, even the toilets!! The cobbled streets made walking difficult. The main attraction is the Cathedral which us impressive like most others. Unique are the tombs of nobility,, notably Peter the Great and the family and 4 servants of last Tsar Nicholas II.

I am not a big fan of history and arts but this place is exceptional, I spent more than an hour in this cathedral alone, not to mention the other sites. You will need 4 hours at least to see (not to experience) most of the sites in the fortress. Cathedral is a must

Totally waste of time and money. It's more expensive than inarguably better, more interesting and much more comprehensive museums such as the State Russian Museum, Russian Ethnographic Museum or State Hermitage Museum. The price of the ticket for just small museum with only a few exhibition halls is 500 rub and you have to pay an additional 500 rub for audio guide. We didn't buy the audio guide thinking that at least there must be some small descriptions of the works but there wasn't any explanation. Let alone the descriptions, there was even no name near to the artifacts. Instead of wasting your time and money here, go visit State Hermitage Museum. If you did already, visit again, it's impossible to finish it at one time anyway. Money trap.

A fabulous building with intricate rooms is overshadowed only by the objects of art themselves. The Fabergé eggs are truly magnificent, and the other objects, including the pictures of Ayvasovsky, are worth a look as well. The only downside is the fact that there are almost no descriptions at all, only if you download the PDF on phone. It makes things so much slower and clunkier.

While it may not have resonated as strongly with me aesthetically, it undeniably holds a divine significance for those seeking spiritual solace. It's a testament to the power of faith and a must-visit for those interested in religious landmarks.

Must visit. 10-15 min walk from Church of spilled blood, the Kazan cathedral is seat of the Orthodox bishop of St. Petersburg. It is consecrated to the Virgin of Kazan, the most revered icon of Russia. Try to visit in evening 5:30/6pm during the evening prayers. The experience is just magical. This is a place of worship.

Main attraction in the city of St Petersburg after landing in the city. It is straight opposite of big shopping centre and many restaurants around. Inside of this place is mind blowing and full of gold structure!

It was my first time at Russia and I was impressed by this cathedral’s beauty. The old paintings and the great fountain in front of it which produces cold water to cool your body temperature. It is simply a great place ❤️

This is very historic cathedral and the mother cathedral for St Petersburg. It is still under restoration after just 20 year reopening, after closed for decade under Soviet time. The interior is amazing with Biblical decorated walls and roofs. Special and beautiful interior designed. Recommended for short visit in this city center. You have to prepare some Rubels for entrance fee.

This place is really awesome. Its the first thing which comes when to get down at the station and go towards the St Petersburg river. Really loved the architecture and the way it looks at night. Though i didn't know if we can visit inside but the outside itself is lovely. Nobody in their right mind wouldn't visit it. Next time I visit it would love to know more about it and see from inside.

When i see the church first i thought its a government building. Outside look as that. But when you enter it there was amazing church inside. Well decorated arts around the wall and the roof. Big dome too. Its free entrance church. Many people are going to see the church.

Apart from the Mikhailovsky palace the museum's collections are also located in the Marble and Stroganov palaces, as well as in the Engeneer's Castle, where a gallery of historical portraits is seen. It takes a couple of days to visit all collections.

Museum filled with impressive and versatile arts. You start with super cool classics like Semiradsky, Vasnetsov, Shishkin and Aivazovsky, continue through statues and portraits, go through some more modern and weird things, and end up with royal furniture and old Russian utensils. Sometimes some of the key items are out of there, so maybe need to check up beforehand (I visited the place twice and never saw the Ninth Wave painting, as it was in Japan and Spain along with other paintings). A lot of information can be obtained with your smartphone, the personnel is polite. This is definitely one of Saint Pete’s must sees.

The complex of several different remoted objects. The main part - Museum of Russian art in this Mikhailovsky palace - is second to Hermitage as a main museum attraction and second to none as an art museum. I do recommend for every classical art fan!

The museum hosts paintings, sculptures and other artifacts mostly from 19. century. This is the place where you can see the traditional Russian art and paintings. Pity to see that Russian art reached its peak in the 19th century and halted as soon as the Soviet revolution took place. At least they preserved their finest collections and present in this museum.

The first museum I visited in Russia. Lot's of incredible masterpieces that will just amaze you. The tour guide was just a delight to listen to; his English was just impeccable. Made some new friends and that day was a good one I must say...💃

It was more crowded when we visited in late May last year. This year, in early May on a Monday (when Hermitage is closed), it was not as crowded as we anticipated. The audio guide in English was again very useful. It was cold outside so we wore our down jackets which had to be deposited in the cloak room. Although the art here is wonderful, my pet peeve is that after one finishes one's visit, which usually ends at the Benois wing, one has to re-trace our way back to the beginning (in Mikhailovskiy Palace) to return our audio guides and collect our jackets. Wished there was a better way that did not require back tracking!

A beautiful building centrally located in St Petersburg, with a good fine art collection varying in periods. The building and the interiors are absolutely gorgeous. This is a great museum to visit in addition to the Hermitage. The coat check is very efficient (a necessary step when visiting) but the bathrooms definitely left something to be desired.

Mikhailovsky Corps. The best museum of art, feel free to reserve 3-4 hours of free time among art. Old Russian art, fine arts, Soviet art and the department of the latest trends. Tickets can be bought online or at the door.

A must see in St Petersburg. The building and the artworks are monumental. A good glimpse into Russian art and culture through the various historic stages of the empire/union/federation. A full day is needed to see everything, if not a few. Make sure you don't miss the main collections on the second floor.

Marvellous aristocratic palace in heart of Saint Petersburg. Absolutely interesting the history of the Yusupov family. Very well organised tour through the marvellous halls of the palace which host some amazing and unique interiors and ambiences. Very well organised in terms of accessibility, audioguide and services. I would have give the 5 stars if they didn't make my pay for the Rasputin exposition part which was actually closed. Apart from this strongly recommended.

Worth visiting this private aristocracy home that is used as a museum. Lots of amazingly beautiful interior designs from Italian, Greek, France and Russian architects. Enjoy acapela song in private theatre room. But you have to pay for your camera and to enter some private rooms. It is enjoyable but please do not compare this private home with the interior design in the Marseilles castle in France.

According to other palaces in history, this palace stays naive. To learn about St.Petersburg’s history there is good place to visit.

The place offers variously themed excursions and one can choose the most interesting one. I had a short overview excursion with a brilliant guide first and on a different day visited Rasputin's murder exposition with movies the latter one a visitor can do with its own pace, there is no guide, the movies tell it all. The mansion is really impressive, rooted so deeply in the Russian history, its decoration is stunning.

This is a 5 stars palace in terms of beauty and magnificent architecture, but unfortunately the main tour doesn't mention the basement and the murder of Rasputin. Also it has currently 5 rooms closed due to restoration. Although the ticket is expensive, I do recommend the visit, the rest of the rooms are magnificent. But don't buy in the souvenir store, the same items are half price in many souvenirs stores in the city.

It is one of the palaces that belonged to Yusupov family before the Revolution. The palace is famous due to Rasputin murder in 1916 organized by Felix Yusupov and his fellow conspirators. There is a reconstruction of murder place in the palace's basement. Among the other somewhat non-typical things in the Palace is the home theatre (180 seats) inside. Overall the palace can be considered for a visit. If visiting be prepared to deal with unusual and rather idiotic rules for visiting and ticketing: some types of tickets do not include entrance to the halls of first or second floor or to the basement (Rasputin murder reconstruction); even with a ticket one can visit the palace only at a certain time (together with a guide), except a ticket with audio-guide that apparently has no time constraints attached.

After seeing this palace, it's no wonder the the Great October Revolution happened. This family was in the top 1%. Ridiculous wealth!! Down with the aristocracy everywhere in the world!

This remains a functional church, also with a second floor (no tourist access) meaning the interior is less grandiose and relatively small, however no less ornate than other churches you may visit. Worth a visit of you have some extra time, the most beautiful views are from the exterior with the baby blue facade.

Beautiful church. It offers to buy candles and other souvenirs from this church. It is close to parks and the harbor. Definitely worth a visit. Dress modest when visiting. Best is to bring a shawl for ladies, because they require the head to be covered. They provide shawls in case you do not have one. No restroom inside, but there are restrooms closeby, you have to pay though.

Definitely worth visiting if you're on travel trip in Kronstadt. It has 3 levels and you can get on every of these levels. I recommend visiting the top level, it is located under the dome and you can observe whole city from there.

Nothing so special about miniatures exhibited here. I couldn't even see the symbolic buildings of St. Petersburg such as St. Isaac, Savior of Spilled Blood or Kremlin Palace in Moscow. There are, however, lots of miniatures of trains, railways, stations, airplanes, soldiers, military camps and exhibitions about the ordinary city life that you cannot associate only with Russia.

I'm a big model enthusiast and visited several such displays throughout Europe. Until now, I regarded the Hamburg one being the best, but now, honestly the St. Pet's doesn't have a match - in one word it's amazing. I see many people here focus this as a primary kids attraction which I can only partially agree. Kids observe this display as a toy, for me it's a piece of art. The display is split into two huge sections (west and east Russia) in one enormous room, divided by the central passageway (marks the Europe-Asia border). Every Russia major city with its landmarks, as well all regions are geographically displayed with millions of tiny objects. Hundreds of moving trains, cars, planes, working plants, mines, oil platforms, ski and sea resorts,....you name it, it's there. Every 15 min the room turns dark and display illuminated showing the night scene which is again amazing. Unseen attention to details with high technology makes you stare at this in disbelief. Make sure to read the plaques showing the number of something and many interesting facts. Grand Maket is not in the prime tourist area, but in a residential part of town with nothing else to see around, but worth every effort coming.

The place was pretty crowded, but it was worth visiting because it is an unforgettable experience. Little details on the model, such as trains, are moving, and the it just invokes questions of how it functions. The model is still expanding, and we will definitely return again to see the progress.

Really nice model of Russia that we absolutely loved! Spend at least an hour here. From the simulated sunrise and sunset to all the details that are captured (like the types of cars, trees, animals, etc.), this was a great place for us to get an idea of what we'd see on our trip across Russia.

Perfect place to see main Russian sights and features in short time. The maquette is huge and has interactive parts. This will be interesting for children and grown ups as well. The maquette can be explored for long hours, because it has tiny and very accurate models. I have found an easter egg there - a white car from Taxi movie. Public transport, trains, cars move and represent daily life. There was accompanying sound for different kind of activities. I liked that there was day/night change. Strongly recommend to visit it to anyone who is going to Saint-Petersburg.

It was a great experience in this museum where you can have a overview how Russia looks like. Everything looks so real even some small details. I am pretty sure you will be impressed and excited from all the city models of Russia no matter how old you are (children, teenager, mature, elderly...). I am really recommend this for anyone and this museum is some kind of saving your money to explore the Russia instead of using helicopter, hahaha
