One of the most spectacular locations in Naples housing an absolute masterpiece, The Veiled Christ. The craftsmanship is truly mindblowing. The lifeless body of Jesus with an almost liquid flowing veil contains so much intricate detail that you can't comprehend how this is sculpted from marble. The other sculptures are equally impressive with one marble sculpture depicting a net over a body which looks incredible. You'll also find the anatomical machines at this location which showcases the circulatory nervous system preserved on human remains, it's fascinating. Definitely go here! Appreciate the masterpieces.

The pictures you'll see online are just a sliver compared to how grand and magnificent the centre piece is. It truly feels the veil is on top of the body, let alone being sculpted in the process. This small chapel is breathtaking, very appreciative, it's not possible to take pictures inside, buy your ticket on their websites and at your desireded time slot to avoid potential delays, €10 per person and totally worth it.

If this is the only place you visit your trip to Naples will be worthwhile just to see the spectacular Veiled Christ. It left me emotional and breathless. How a man carved this from marble is mindbending.

This very small museum houses some incredible art and, of course, the sculpture of the veiled Christ, which is simply breathtaking. Definitely reccomend it. Unfortunately, you can't take pictures once inside. We waited over 1 hr to buy tickets for a time slot later in the day, so it is worth buying these before hand online.

The Sansevero Chapel is one that shouldn’t be missed. The maze marble floors to the ceilings are fantastically adorned in the style of Baroque. And it’s star, the Veiled Christ, is inspiring even if you aren’t religious.

If you want to go you almost always have to buy tickets in advance. If you are lucky you might get a ticket for later that day. I know you used to be able to walk in. But this place (like many) has changed visitor protocols since covid. Buying in advance in person or online is easy. It is worth it for one of the great museums. The veiled Christ sculpture is unique. I enjoyed the audio guide as it really helped with the religious and Masonic symbols in the chapel. Also, no photos inside.

There’s a long line every time I pass by this chapel, and they are already ticket holders. Make sure to purchase your ticket in advance or it can sell out for the day. The interior is beautiful but makes for a very short visit. No photos allowed, but my camera malfunctioned and accidentally took a picture. Thought it would be good to share.

This museum simply houses one of the outstanding sculpture works in the world (plus the anatomical machines) for a ticket worth a €13 ticket including the audio guide. This is definitely the fairest price ever for such a worthy masterpiece. Despite it's not mandatory, advanced booking is likely the only practical solution for short queueing. I'd recommend being at the museum about 15 minutes earlier than the entrance time on the ticket.

Undoubtedly it is a must to see in Naples, the Veiled Christ and the Chapel are amazing, wonderful, stunning, and so on. But it is extremely expensive having in mind: - You need to take the tickets in advance if you want to see the Chapel. - if you buy the tickets online it is more expensive than buying them in the ticket office - you cannot take pictures nor record anything inside the Chapel. - as you have to book for a certain time, the capacity of people should be less so that you can enjoy your visit, but probably you will find a guided tour (coming from the cruises) with a lot of people around the sculpture. - the management of the place is awful, the staff barely speaks in English (or any other language)

The sculptures are uniquely masterfully executed and it is well worth visiting. The fact that this special place has been turned into another tourist attraction just to genetate revenue, but not providing any meaningful information to highlight the historical context and needlessly imiting the personal experience by not allowing personal photos (while shamelessly using the beautiful sculptures for their own touristy merchandising - see photos), is certainly a pity. Still, worth the visit aslobg as the lines are not too long.

One of the moat interesting monuments in thw entire Napoli, and the only place where you can find also a few booklets in English about it.

High quality art concentrated in a single room. Unfortunately, photos are not allowed and the staff is really careful about this aspect. I recommend getting an audio guide. At the exit there is a reasonably priced shop where you can buy a souvenir to compensate the lack of photos.

One of the most beautiful museums when you are interested in statues. The delicate work is just fascinating, I've been left speechless. Reservations well in advance are absolute necessity, without it it's nearly impossible visiting. I recommend purchasing an audio guide, it takes the visit to next level. The museo is rather small, but that's enough. It's forbidden to take photos of statues, but if you are nifty, you may sneak one. Either way, at the museum shop you can purchase beautiful postcards of statues, so all good. Lovely love experience.

The marble statue is absolutely beautiful, however photographs are not allowed. Looking at the old reviews, I am not sure how they've taken the photos. So like many others, I ended up purchasing a post card at 1.20 euros. You'll need to book a time slot well in advance. You can take a photo of a post card , like what I've done here.

The most beautiful place I have ever been. Rich in history, very humbling. The paintings and statues are flawless, so very surreal to believe that they are hundreds of years old! So very humbling to comprehend that someone made them by hand! The techniques, the vibrant colours and that no restoration has been required. Everyone MUST see the entirety of this most artistically sacred place! Sacred and hallowed ground!

The centerpiece statue is great along with everything else in the room, but it's very brief. Pretty much a singular room. Doesn't make sense to not allow for pictures so that's a point off. Reserve tickets as early as possible but I'd honestly say if you need to make a choice between this and other activities, you can skip this and just look at a professional photo. You're not missing much atmosphere.

A must while you’re in Naples. Get your tickets in advance and go there on time. The statues are so beautiful and carved perfectly, you’re not allowed to take photos in there, and there are people who are making sure you’re not taking any photo :(, at the exit there is a barcode that you can scan and download the pictures from there.

Very beautiful and nice place to visit. We got the audio guide and overall it took about 40 minutes, including waiting in line to enter. No pictures were allowed, but you are able to get somewhat close to the sculptures to really admire them. The audio guide was very good and informative, on how and why the sculptures were made so I would recommend the audio guide. There are only 2 rooms you go though so the visit is very brief. Overall would recommend.

What a shame for Neapel, what a shame for Italy. They captured the building with an amazing impressive statues what only exists ones in the world and make money from it. The builder of these amazing statues change in a grave when he know what Italy are doing. This work have to see everyone, including touch and photos... it's marbel

The veiled Christ statue is truly amazing to see. Amazing detail under the shroud. There are also several other statues and paintings. The basement houses two skeletons that displayed the anatomical scientific knowledge of the day. Book well in advance. The entire visit with audio guide took 30 minutes. You are basically paying to see the Veiled Christ statue. More could be and should be added to this Museum. No photos allowed.

Great place to get a souvenir. The street is full of life with a great overall vibe. Some items are really cool to look at. You have to pass by on your way around Napoli.

Magical street in the center of Naples. There are many shops selling unique terracotta figures. If you have some time to stop in Naples, I highly recommend visiting this wonderful street as it's nothing you've seen before.

Very nice in Christmas time, very nice people and good restaurant in the area.

Neapolitans love their nativity scenes and this is the place where you'll purchase it. If you have room in your suitcase or perhaps the trunk of your car, this is the spot. Or maybe you just need a new cornicello to give to a friend.

This is a review of the general historic quarter, not just this street. Naples is an experience. There are some lovely buildings and squares but much of It is overloaded with rubbish and graffiti. It is a central location for sites. We had an Airbnb in 'the historic quarter' however we didn't bargain for our safety. It is a pleasure to walk along the main narrow streets along with many other people in the day time. Just a street off that at 18.15 hours we had 2 different people approach us in an unnerving manner. We realised that as no public transport was operating in the early hours of the morning we would need a taxi. Taxis could only come to a corner near to us and we wanted to walk there quickly and get straight in to a taxi, not wait around. It was unerving with the people on the streets but fortunately we had pre-booked a private transfer with World Tours Naples and they were there. What a relief. Lesson learnt-will not be staying in those type of areas again.

Its a great tour of 1.5 hours discovering the underground remains of an old roman theater and water tanks. There are some very narrow tunnels that they alert claustrophobic people before entering where they can wait outside and the group rejoins them later. Price in 10 euros and 8 for students. Tours are available in italian, english, spanish and french

An eerie experience, but worthwhile visit to learn about the past. English guide was very informative and interesting. There are areas that are not good for the faint hearted, especially the very narrow entrance where you had to walk sideways just to get in, you need the light from your phone to follow the narrow path. It was worth every penny.

Entrance is very unorganized. They have a line on one side and the guides just tell people to come back 10 minutes before but then have you get in the same line anyway. As long as you show up and get in line, you will get in - tickets can be purchased up the steps. They will let the people in with tickets first then those left can purchase tickets in the next tour group. Tour was just ok though, the best part was walking through the tunnels and going into the basement of a house to see the Roman theater. Stay close to the guide to be able to hear/understand.

What was missing is more information about the people who actually worked and used those tunnels during the times. In addition to the underground tour, there is also an ancient Roman theater excavations tour (15min).

This was amazing! Our tour guide was great really knew his stuff and was so funny and educational. Went to queue for tickets not long after opening and waited 15min before we got put into the English speaking tour It was €15 well worth it!

A really interesting visit in Naples. Queued for approx 15 minutes to join the next tour in English. You are able to pay by card. Our guide was really informative and had a great dry sense of humour. Some parts are very tight during the tour and require most adults to walk sideways but there is the option to sit these out if you prefer or if there is anybody with claustrophobia. We had backpacks on and managed fine holding them by our side for these parts.

It was an interesting and pleasant experience. We waited in line for about 15 minutes before purchasing the tickets. The price of the ticket is 15€ and 10€ for students and you can't pay by card. Place offers English or Italian speaking guide and you cannot go alone so you don't get lost. The tour is about 2 hours and you see and learn lot of interesting things. This tour was amazing and worth the slight hassle to get tickets in advance. You’ll go deep down below and see cisterns, caverns, ancient Roman ruins, bomb shelter setup, and more. Not for the claustrophobic or those who can’t climb up and down lots of steps!

You enter this tour off a Naples side street and descend down a narrow passageway deep under the city. This passage was started in medieval times but not completed until WW2 due to the urgent need for bomb shelters. Thousands of Neapolitans fled to these underground shelters for weeks as the bombing of their city raged above. Impressive tour that gives you an experience of what those times were like. Great tour guide also. Definitely recommend.

One of our favorite attractions in Naples. Our guide was really great and made it interesting and fun. A really adventure! Definitely recommend. No need to bring a sweater. We were allowed to film.

Very interesting tour, we did this on a very rainy day and lots of people had the same idea. There is a part of the tour where you go through very narrow tunnels and have to crab walk sideways, and use the torch on your phone. However, you can bypass this part if you are claustrophobic. (It was fun though!) The rest of the tour is wide open, big chambers so not an issue. It was about 1hr 45 mins in total.

The Naples underground was visually impressive and thinking about how old some of these caves are and for how many generations they have been added on to is mind boggling. However, booking the tour didn’t really feel worth it. The explanations we got were often hard to understand, not helped by the fact that everyone has to move in a line due to the tunnels being quite narrow in places, with the guide leading and lecturing up front. I felt hustled through this “experience” creating the most touristy experience of the entire stay. You should take the tour only if you insist to take pictures yourself, if not this is a part of Naples you can skip. Filming is not allowed.

This was an amazing experience to go under this famous city. Ancient quarries turned aqueducts turned wine cellars turned bomb shelters. So much history. Very informative and mind boggling. Bonus you also get to tour the ancient Roman Teatro ruins. There are a lot of stairs (130+)and a part of the tour takes you through very narrow and low passages. Not recommended if you are claustrophobic or have mobility problems. You can bypass the passages part but not the stairs.

Unfortunately not worth the wait or the price. We booked our tour through GetYourGuide. The place was hard to find. People with no ticket could simply rush past everyone else it seems. The tour itself is quite uneventful. The guide had quite a few interesting things to say when you were able to hear her but it was quite frustrating having been rushed from one place to another and having to listen to other guides giving the tour at the same time. Save yourself the money and time. Enjoy the pictures and go have fun above ground 👍🏼

Very good tour! We came earlier to buy tickets when it was not really needed, everyone who came 15min before the tour start was able to get inside on December 31st. English tour guide is great, the route through Aquaduct is pretty doable for anyone who doesn't have claustrophobic issues, narrow route is not for people who can't stand small closed spaces because it is very narrow, you have to walk sidewards. The only downside is that there were too many people, in the begining it was pretty hard to hear the guide and was lacking air in the first room where the tour started. Worth the visit, though 15€ is maybe too much for it. 2nd part with Roman amphitheatre is brilliant! Amazing Neapolitan history !!!

Amazing tour!! Arriving at the center it was a little confusing - long line and no one giving info. But once we got in the guide was amazing and everything was clear. The tunnels were so fun! We bought through get your guide and got to skip the line, but maybe paid $1-2 more? Probably would have been ok to buy there. The tour also led outside and we got to see an amphitheater that is now someone’s house as well as a small museum. 10/10 would do again.

I was originally confused as to which tour company I should go with. After researching, I decided to just walk up to this one. There was a queue, but walked right up for the English tour (Mid February). Our guide was very informative and loud enough that we could all hear. The tour took about 1hr 20mins.

Simply one of the most magnificent museums I've visited world over. The collection is a gem. It has no equal. The sculptures are stunning. The Greek collection in the Louvre is nothing compared to MANN. The atmosphere is serene. There is a piano in the lobby and visitors often play it, making the visit even more memorable. Three small gardens inside the museum invite you to rest and contemplate. All in all, it's a fantastic and unforgettable experience.

At ticket office, ask for additional access to "mosaic rooms". You get to walk on the ancient Roman masaic floors of incredible beauty (see pictures). Get audio guide. Experience is more rich and meaningful. Book tickets online - skipping the line pays off 🙂

There are plenty of exhibits at the National Archaeological Museum of Naples. It's quite fascinating if you have visited Pompeii or Herculaneum because a good number of statues and other objects from those sites can be found here. They help to complete the picture. The museum is quite large so do leave plenty of time to get around. There's a cafe with an open air quad if you need a break. The metro station is just outside the museum which is quite convenient.

When you come to Naples this is one of the most see places. What are the Collections themselves are extremely impressive the palace that houses it surpasses even the Louvre. Take your time as you walk through history and see the most impressive Roman and Greek artifacts in the world. Rainy days should make you excited to see this is exquisite museum. Enjoy you time and have a drink at this museum as you see the ancient world.

First of all, the entry fee is really expensive. The full price is 18 €. I had the ticket with discount so I only had to pay 2 euros. The gap between these prices is insane. The museum itself was okay. The first floor is amazing. The statues are stunning. On the second floor you can find a stunning hall with ceiling paintings. During our visit the hall was completely empty. I suppose there are temporary exhibitions there. Bummer that we missed out on that. It’s a shame the exhibition rooms are a little bit run down. There’s no attention to detail. The curtains were really messy. There were also paintings behind some statues which isn’t nice to look at (as seen in my last picture). The bathrooms were smelly and were not in good conditions.

This is one of the most beautiful museums I've been to in my life. Not only are the pieces exposed incredible and varied, but the building itself is a work of art. There's a specific room where the ceiling is literally breathtaking. I'd definitely recommend visiting this museum to anybody who's in Napoli for at least a day, as it took me 6 hours to see all it has to offer and I didn't even actually pause and read the written explanations as much as I would've wanted to. However, there's an option to buy a ticket that is valid for two consecutive days (and it's almost as much as the one-day one) so that you can see all this beautiful museum has to offer in detail.

I've been to museums in 2 dozen countries and this was the very best. Astonishing displays and a beautiful building. Tickets were 23 euros and worth every penny. If you're in Naples put this place in your list to visit.

One of the best museums I have visited, but quite pricey for non EU citizens, hence the 4 stars. The staff at the entrance are not overly helpful and we did not receive a guide, even though we asked for one. We had to figure out the maze-like layout, but each bend and turn takes you to more and more beautiful and hidden treasures. Loved the Pompeii and Ancient Egyptian exhibits.

Amazing museum with very good signage. Buy tickets online ahead of time since when we arrived there was a huge line standing outside in the rain and we were able to walk straight in with our online tickets. (Although the online cart is very tedious with lots of opportunities to prove you’re not a robot 😖) . The Farnese rooms were a highlight.

Nice museum with a variety of displays. The highlights are the mosaics and the statues. However some displays were closed for renovations and the building itself could do with renovations as well. Tickets are €15 for a single or €26 for a group of two and can be bought from the ticket office. EU student discount is also available.

A must go place in Napoli!!! I think you can spend at least 3 hours in it since it is so big . Plus you can also see a film in a small movie house where the modern artist tries to let the light and shadow revitalize the sculptures. Even if you don’t have too much background, staring at the exhibits will travel you to thousands years ago.

One of the best art collections from antiquity in a museum. Some of the most emotional statues and vivid mosaics are kept here. I would qualify this however a museum in progress, just like the site of Pompeii - it can become the greatest in the world if there was more interactivity or at least a logical structure to discover the artifacts.

So many cool pieces, and I especially loved all the pieces from Pompeii and the Roman Forum. I visited the Roman Forum the day before, and the size of Jupiter’s bust was absolute insanity. The Farnese bull and Hercules statues were also truly incredible.

Whilst I am not a big fan of museums, I was surprised how much I enjoyed visiting this informative place. So much local history, some of it is so intriguing. I went off season and there were no queues. Definitely worth the entry price. You can spend a decent amount of time broadening your knowledge!

Great museum, here you can see the other half of the story of Pompeii, a lot of the things you expect to see in Pompeii are here and they are amazing. We took a guide which made the experience better, we learned a lot of things about Pompeii and about those times. We were amazed to find out that Naples was a greek city and to find out about all the influences present here at that time.

Visiting in February 2024, of course the museum is incredible. But here are some key points of why it didn’t get 5* The entry fee is €22. Steep in my opinion. *IMPORTANT* the Alexander & Darius mosaic is under renovation long term and the Farnese Hercules was also closed off from the public. Of course it is a MUST visit if you are going to Pompeii and Herculaneum because the monumental finds are stored here. Visiting the sites alone without this museum will leave you in sufficiently informed of the sites significance.

Lots of artwork and sculptures. Not a lot of information on the pieces to describe them or their relevance but nice to see. Pompeii frescos were very impressive. We were very excited to see the Egypt section but it was closed and we were not informed of that upon arrival. For €20 it was still a good amount of things to see.

Amazing museum with lots of well preserved roman frescos and statues. Expensive if you buy a ticket but if you manage to visit on the 1st Sunday of the month it is free and worthwhile. You can easily spend a couple hours here.

Absolutely wonderful museum with so much to see. If you’re in Naples a definite must see. Also I do believe some of the artifacts from Pompeii are here as well. Regardless, so many cool items on display. Be sure to allocate at least a few hours to thoroughly enjoy this place. Highly recommend and would return.

A terrific experience well explained by the guide who did not hesitate to answer to specific questions. The tunnel and the old mine transformed first in water reservoir and then in a war shelter, arrived to our days thanks to an entrepreneur who has made the whole job to re-qualify the place. It is worth visiting because of its uniqueness and guides who tell great stories. Our daughters were so fascinated that wanted to come back and take adventure tour when you could raft aqueduct canals. I believe this is the only place on earth where confiscated vehicles including tuned Vespas were kept in the underground tunnels. No matter if you enter from Vico del Grottone or from Via D. Morelli. You will participate in whole tour.

There are 2 access points, convenient. The ticket is 10 euros. Entrance at fixed hours, long weekends. The tour is 1 hour, in English, interesting information and place.

This is one of the most interesting routes in underground Naples. It is worth buying tickets online in advance. It is open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. It has been used for various purposes over the centuries, until it was used as an air-raid shelter during the Second World War. Guided tours are also available. Attention! There are about 100-150 steps down.

Galleria Borbonica is a must visit if you have couple of days in Napoli. We didn’t know, therefore made a reservation for the classical tour which is great, but there are also couple of more tour options that explore different parts of the tunnels and are more detailed. Small advice is to book prior to your visit, because this is a very popular and busy destination.

What you should know about the park: 🌋Working hours changes every season, so check it on the official website. In November you could enter the park above 14:50. 🌋There no ticket office on the top, so you should by a ticket in advance online for certain time (entrance is every 20 minutes). 🌋The regular ticket price is 12€, for younger than 25 y. - 10€. 🌋The way from the entrance to the top approximately 15-20 minutes. 🌋You can leave your bags near the entrance. There are some ways to get Vesuvio park: 📌 The most economic option is getting from Pompei by EAV bus. The price is 3.1€. The schedule you can find on the website visitpompeiivesuvius.com. Also, you can get on this bus on the stop in Torre del Greco. 📌Take taxi from Ercolano Scavi. We payed 10€/person. 📌Go to Ercolano Scavi and take an excursion which includes transfer and entrance ticket. It costs 25€ for everything. 📌Get by car. I give this place a 4 star for people that may like to see memorialized places. Honestly it is very uneventful and not much to see. It is quite a hike. The breakdown of must know. You must get tickets in advance. Tickets are time of entry tickets so you’re not getting in early if you arrive early. Then you are supposed to by parking in advance. It is only 3€. The strange thing is we were assigned Lot A space 2. There is no lot and there is no attendant per say. We were just instructed to park wherever so no accountability. Next after parking the car you can walk the narrow steep road with fast moving busses just missing you or pay 10€ each person for the shuttle at the base. It’s about 1-2 mile ride before going into the park. There are no bathrooms at all. I saw one outhouse and it had a lock on it and said Staff Only. So plan accordingly. There are no bathrooms driving up the hill just a couple restaurants and they say buy something or no bathrooms. The trail up to the volcano is steep and uneven with of course lava rock on it. There are a couple resting places in the way up. There were lots of tours and lots of 60+ year old doing it so can be done by most. Again no bathrooms but you have to walk through 3 souvenir shops on the way. We are in good shape and we reached the top in 30 minutes. Most tours stopped and view from the first viewpoint. You can continue to the top but it is another 5-10 minutes and it is mostly more of the same. So not necessary if your tired after the climb. The views of Napoli,Pompei, Capri and Ischia are breathtaking. Overall if in the area why not but I don’t think I would make a special trip for it. Would be nice if they added som sort of services for the visitors. The top where all the busses are is crowded and hectic. Small space with lots of people and large busses turning around and honking.

We drove our car to the foot of Mount Vesuvius. Parking quite close. Then we went on foot to the bonfire itself. We got hiking poles at the foot, so it was a little easier for us, because the path climbs quite steeply. At the top, of course, a brilliant view and an interesting dormant crater. There were no tickets on the site to buy. You have to buy it online. We sow along the road signs with “tickets for Vesuvius”. Absolutely huge volcano located close to Naples! In order to get there you need to catch a bus from Ercolano or Pompei. You can also catch a taxi (that looks like a shuttle bus but with a sign saying taxi) which will cost you around €50 for round trip. Keep in mind that there is an entrance fee for the volcano which in €10. Furthermore, you can't stay there for as long as you like because there is a fixed time. The maximum time you can spend is 2 hours. From the entrance to the top takes around 45 minutes. There are 3 checkpoints with food and beverages where you can chill for a bit. It is very hot on the path and there aren't any trees. Bring old or mountain shoes with you because the path is covered with ash and you will ruin your shoes. Overall, a pretty tough and costly trip but it was something different and interesting.

Walking around the brim of the volcano is a beautiful experience. The climb from the parking where all buses and cars stop is around 20min. and achievable for people from all ages with their own paces. My personal advice, book a ticket couple of days/weeks, depending of the season, so you can guarantee yourself an entry. There are certain time slots for visiting and once you choose you have to be precise at reaching the entry point around that time.

Overall experience is very pleasant. I received detailed insteuctions how to find office that will provide ticket and transportation. It takes 20 minutes by train. I arrived 30 minutes before department and I was told group will joint ten minutes before departure. I took last available tour at 15:00. Booked this as a twin center excursion through TUI, which was this lovely mountain/volcano and Pompei ruins after. This place is so beautiful with amazing views, I would recommend good walking shoes here as is very gravely on the track up. Also gets very hot early on till near the summit where it cools. It's a fairly easy trek up if you pace it with little kiosks on the journey up selling water etc. You are rewarded with 360 degree views all the way up to the summit and the crater gives a good idea of the magnitude of the explosion. You get a feeling of a big achievement for doing it and take great memories with you, well worth doing.

There are 4 tours per day - 3 of them in Italian and one in English and Italian. We couldn`t arrive for the English one and we did the Italian one at 4:30 PM but at the end of the tour we asked the guide to tell us the main things and we learned interesting facts for the theater. A tour costs 9 euro and lasts 30 minutes. We waited for the group to go outside the main hall and made pictures with no people. I totally recommend to pay a visit here.

We are very glad that we saw this sinister but majestic creation of ancient people with our own eyes, looked at those burials in cemeteries carved in stone. The lovely girl guide (who didn't speak English very well) said that all the buried remains in the 19th century were taken out of here and buried elsewhere. This made us a little sad. This place was named in honor of St. Januarius (San Gennaro). The history of this complex of three cemeteries begins in the 3rd-4th centuries AD. It's pretty cool there, if I'm not mistaken, about 15-16 degrees Celsius. Everyone should visit this place. By the way, there is another famous catacomb nearby.

We did not intend to visit the catacombs on our visit to Naples but ended up going after a suggestion from someone we met. We are very happy we did! We were able to get tickets on our way there & they were very reasonably priced (it gets you into two different catacombs but unfortunately we only had time for San Genaro). One hour was a perfect length for the tour, we appreciated the option for English led, and it was very interesting information to learn. The tour guide even knew more information when asked about areas she did not initially mention. Also if you're looking for a way to escape the summer sun this is perfect, it is very cool & comfortable in the catacombs! There is also a beautiful view of Napoli nearby before/after your tour.

Fun to visit, I definitely recommend it. English tours are hourly and the prices are cheap (32 euros for 2 adults and 2 children). You get free access to the other catacomb with the same ticket (1 year valid). The story behind the catacombes are really interesting and the English guide spoke very clear.

Not only is it beautiful and enriching but also just the presence of tourists in the area makes the neighborhood grow. A cooperative is taking care of this ancient place and at the same time provides jobs and helps the area grow as it used to be a poor and dangerous place (not now)

The tour guide was amazing!! Danielle knew exactly what he was talking about and answered all of our questions. The catacombs themselves were super interesting and a must see in Naples, even just to get out of the heat for an hour. 100% recommend. Bought the ticket online for the tour which gets you into all the naples catacombs. Wasn’t that busy so probably could just show up and get a ticket time but we booked to be sure. Very cheap entry and very fun!!

The catacombs were amazing. The guided tour was also very professional. The reason why I'm giving 3 stars is because the reception crew was quite unprofessional with helping us for going inside the catacombs and not allowing us to visit even though we had a ticket and we were just 10 minutes late giving us weird reasons like you can't go without a guide because you can slip and fall and get lost and what not. All of that was nonsensical as there are guided routes with mats on them which are easily accessible. I would recommend to reach 10 minutes early to avoid any scuffle with the staff.

Definitely visit here if you're interested in the history of Naples. The guide was brilliant and it was a very interesting experience. I recommend you book in advance before you visit. I only wish I could have seen more of it.

Tour of the catacombs was fairly short but nice, and the views and stories inside are pretty interesting. We did book a holy tour in advance via the website under the impression that it was in English since the entire tour is displayed on the website in English. Sadly however, the tour is in Italian only so we tried to change it to the available English tour of the catacombs which was possible but with no cash backs.... so be aware of this! Furthermore no complaints

Lovely place to visit, a bit outside of the center but the park nearby is also worth strolling through. We had to wait two hours for the next English tour so would recommend to book in advance. Tour is around 50 minutes visiting the upper and lower levels.

Outstanding visit. I am not a religious person at all but found this fascinating. We went late September, which I’d say out of season and dropped lucky as I hadn’t booked, there were 3 spaces left saving us a big wait, so my advise is book in advance. The guy on the ticket desk super friendly, his English was great even tho he apologised for it. Turned out he was our tour guide, he was absolutely brilliant. Won’t ruin any of it for you, popped a pic of him on here, if you get him lucky you! Oh yeh, turns out you are helping the local area community by going, the team who work there are all local and trying to make a difference so go help them.

Very fascinating tour. Our guide had extensive knowledge although our guide was a little harder to understand. (She would ask if we understood). I think some printed background info would improve the tour. We left through the “back door” of the tour when exiting as most of our tour did. We ended up getting a little turned around and it was hard to find the right direction to take. I would recommend going out the front door and going down the street.

This dive I will recommend only with guided tour to feel every thing when go for dive in past straight in middle of romans cemetery dated thousands of years ago is something special that been created by human, the way they carved stone to created a proof that even in past was big different how you will be buried depends upon how much they worth in life and if they afford to pay for peace space. At the end of the day no matter how rich or poorer is person in coffin they both haven’t been able to take nothing with them from this world, even though this was sample how much they have been able to take with them in past world…???

Great experience, very much worth it! Went to see San Gaudioso first, which is smaller, then saw these huge catacombs. The tour guides are great and friendly. You cannot go on your own and have to do the guided tour but this is basically what also makes it interesting. You would miss so many interesting details and stories without the guided tour. Anyone visiting Naples should see the catacombs! Get tickets online or arrive early as there are limited spots per tour.

An interesting place related to the history of the city. the price of the ticket is a bit too high, but with it you can also visit the second catacombs exhibition and get some discounts for the entrance to the galleries. if you have the opportunity, book a ticket online

I had the chance to explore the Catacombe di San Gennaro in Naples and it was such an amazing experience! These ancient underground burial sites are filled with history and intrigue. One big BRA-VO for this tour! English guide girl made it so interesting, with no rush and enough time to enjoy the views after her stories, this was one great experience! And so fascinating that people made it all available to the world by volunteering, hats down to Sanita people! Take care of your treasure, it was an honour to walk this route! 🙏🏻 To the future visitors - do buy tickets online, because you may end up without free spots to enter. This tour is limited to a number of people, unlike Sotteranea where everyone can enter and you end up in a terrible big group... online buying process is smooth, we bought a ticket to 14.30 for Gennaro and we managed to get in to 17h tour of Gaudioso right after. A great way to compare both, and you get both entries for 11€ which is very very nice.

The food wasn't worth the price at all. Very simple under average food.....for such a high price. !!!! BUT I never experienced in a restaurant before that the waiter said we should leave ( we hadn't finished our drinks yet) and ate a lot before.....because there were people waiting!!!! Absolutely NO GO!!!!!!

The food was mediocre. The waiters were pleasant enough but they mixed up our order. Furthermore, I found a cockroach in the bathroom. This restaurant is much cheaper than the others around it but you must also expect a lower standard.

It may look nice on the photo but it’s not that impressive to me in person. If you are not planning to take the subway, you need to pay 1.1 euro to get in. You can consider it as entry fee for attraction.

Waste of time and money. You come down the escalator to see this big hole in the ceiling that has some flashing lights. The tile work is nothing special either. This cannot be the most beautiful at station- false advertising. Those really nice photos must have some really good filters. It's like when you see Kylie Jenner on instagram vs real life.

I am not as impressed as many influencers here. Though, the station looks modern and clean, contrary to other tube stations on Naples. So from me 3 stars on 5.

The man at the ticket counter at 2pm on Friday April 19 2024 tried to short me €10 in change. He gave me part of my change and after counting it i had to ask for the remainder.

This subway station is in Napoli, so it's kind of romantic. This city is one of my favorite southern cities, it is very dynamic, but also relatively dirty. We came here specifically to have a look at this subway station. It was a little disappointing at the time, because the actual place is very small, and the photos on the Internet make you feel like it is a small universe. And the void is a Mosaic, and they look great when you take pictures of them. But what you see with your eyes is a feeling that makes you a little dizzy, and it's not pretty. Just passing by to look good, special trip is not recommended. Of course, if you want to take beautiful photos, this is a great place to come. I really like the pictures. No retouching. Taken on an early iPhone.

Deeply disappointing in person and if anything it creates a pinch point in what’s a major station, so it’s hard to get by. Go late at night and enjoy it, but not rush hour please

It seems like it's becoming a habit to visit metro stations - on purpose - when I vacation. Last year, I ventured out of the center of Stockholm to Vastra Skogen to ride the ninth-longest escalator in the world. Today in Napoli, I'm at the crown jewel of the Naples metro "art stations." Nominated as one of the most beautiful transit stations in Europe, Toledo is built on multiple layers which the color scheme designed to reflect some part of the city. Mosaics that detail the history on one level, the original Aragonese walls incorporated into the atrium, and even a long LED light installation that reproduces the movement of the waves. Yes, it's still a subway station between Dante (towards Piscinola) and Municipio (towards Garibaldi). It is on Linea 1 of the metro and you'll find automated ticket vending machines and turnstiles in the ticketing concourse. The station is handicapped accessible.

My boyfriend and I happened upon this church as we were walking by. We found out that we could walk inside of the church and it was BEAUTIFUL! I only rate it three stars because it isn't until now that I see there was a whole museum aspect to it as well! Had I known, I would have loved to look around. Regardless, it was beautiful, as historical churches are just another level of beauty to admire while abroad.

This is an oasis in Hart of chaotic Napels. Visited on Sunday, there was a quite line for purchasing tickets, but it was worth of waiting. Ticket is 7 euros. I would recommend to visit it with a guide since there are so many details inside Monastery and it has rich history. For me, the most beautiful part of Napoli.

Great place to take a relaxing walk in a peaceful atmosphere. It should you 45-75 minutes. There is a very small library, a museum with original pieces which belong to the cloister, and some archeological findings.

The basilica's architecture is stunning, with intricate details and vibrant colors that catch the eye. Inside, the atmosphere is peaceful, offering a nice break from the city buzz. The cloister, in particular, is a highlight with its elegant columns and greenery—a serene spot to soak in the surroundings.

Everything started in 1310…Beautiful place with amazing history and museum. Worth to see, read and learn how time and bombing affected that place. Ticket is for 6€ normal price, 4,5€ for teachers and students under 30, 3€ primary and secondary school.

Nice place, quite small, ceramics not as beautiful, as they're on photos (very much faded), small museum inside, a lot of seats in shadow which is nice when you come in the middle of the day. Not really a must see, but interesting to give it a try if you're nearby and have time :) our sightseeing there took around 30/40mins

The majolica tile can be a little "Tuscan Kitchen" but it is undeniably beautiful and well displayed. The gardens are well laid out, surrounded by cloisters with beautiful vaulted ceilings and faded but admirable frescos. The museum and the archeological dig (a spa) are well worth exploring as well.

Visited this place as a second very important place while visiting first time of Naples. My Sunday visit was around noon time, queue was long but all moved very quickly. Tickets are available only in counter, Credit card payment possible. Entry is actually to the cloister itself with colorful tiles columns and benched, which are the main attraction of this place, inner garden, small museum, and archeological excavations, which I skipped, as it was overcrowded. Basilica of Santa Chiara is possible to visit free of charge from the main square. Inner patio with beautifully hand made pained tiles is stunning, but that's probably all. For my was interesting to visit small cloister library with bunch of vey old book since 14th century, illuminated Bible and gospel books in Latin.

The basilica can be visited separately and is free to enter while the cloyster you have to pay. The church is impressive with high ceilings.

The monastery is very beautiful - all walls in the garden are with colorful frescos. It is not allowed to sit on the benches in order to preserve the tiles. There are orange trees and in general it is very nice to take a walk in the garden. Ticket costs 6 euro. We paid the entrance fee directly at the machines close to the cashier desk by card.

Tip: as you queue, there is an electronic machine you can buy tickets on card. Many are queuing to pay in cash. Had a great time here, beautiful scenery, interesting exhibits. There is cheap cafe after, nice interior seating. Also local produce for sale.

Definitely recommend spending the €6 to go into the courtyard area. Absolutely beautiful. Really enjoyed wondering around, going into the museum and seeing the archaeological area.

Very unusual facade (the church is a former aristocratic palace from the 15th century) and a very nice interior with an amazing dome. An Italian "modern" saint - physician Joseph Moscati - is buried here.

The church is called Gesù Nuovo to distinguish the basilica from the ancient church of Jesus. It was built in 1470 by Prince Salerno Roberto Sanseverino. Today, the Gesù Nuovo owes its popularity to the overwhelming interior, many frescoes, colorful garden and decorated rooms. The church became the leading example for the Neapolitan Renaissance and Baroque.

Entrance is free. Working time: 8 till 1 PM and then again 4 to 7:30 PM. The church is beautiful from the inside. When looking from outside only, you can`t tell this is a church.

Some historical art works, some good views of the bay. I don't like that they have an arbitrarily complicated pricing system where you have to pay an additional admission fee to go up one of the towers. It's an impressive structure but there could be more comprehensive information about more of the rooms given in a more engaging way.

It makes it unique by location at a coast. Specifically, history wise, it used to belong to Spain and they have suffered from different wars during eras. Afternoon, they’re closed for 1-2 hours. Staff were nice and welcome. Good view to sea and city. It took a bit to get a ticket. Since it’s south of Europe and super-hot, make sure about having proper clothing.

Nice castle worth seeing, for a reasonable entrance fee of six euro. There's not much open, so expect the visit to be maybe about thirty minutes long. There's a stunning view of the sea at one place. Would give four stars, need to take away a star for the random men working there just weirdly staring and invading our personal space all the time.

Place you see only in movies, ancient castle with impressive architecture. Very nice from the outside both in day and night. We didn't go in, it was enough from outside. Need to book tickets before entrance and possible to purchase online.

We visited the castle with a guide for the full price of 16 euros. You must make a reservation online before your visit. The place was nice and interesting. The full pass gives you access to the top terrace of the castle from where you can see the whole city of Napoli. The museum was also interesting

I am so glad I booked a guided tour yesterday! I definitely recommend to do that. It was so interesting and our guide us many things about Naples, the history, the surrounding area, but of course also all the details about the castle.

The entry to the castle was €6 per person. For a guided tour, you can buy a ticket once inside for €10 per person. We did this and I have to say it is 100% worth it. The guide was very knowledgeable and the castle history is brilliant. Would recommend a visit!

Castel Nuovo is located by the harbour of Napoli. Interesting place although not well preserved. In one area of the castle, during the escavations it has been found an ancient necropolis. It can be visible through the glass floor. Unfortunately, the place lack of years of maintenance by the local administration. The surrounding area is quite dirty. If cleaned and preserved it could offer a great experience for many tourists.

Don't bother. Even when there is no line you have to buy a ticket online! No tickets at the entrance. 6€ self walk only gets you into what used to be the Kings Room. €16 is a guided tour in under 40 mins. This place is run down and not looked after. The Kings room is now used by their local government as a working office. They don't respect the history here, everything is covered in rubbish, scaffolding or power points and cables.

The staff was very good and very helpfull, explaining all the details about the tours. We took the guided tour in English ( took about 50 mins) and it was very informative. In the end, we were allowed to visit the top of the castle and get a nice panoramic view on the city and the sea. There were also few interesting museums that we could visit on our own. Highly recommended for the amazing place and highly professional staff!

Stunning and amazing castle in the heart of Napoli .. the look from outside is amazing but we never had the chance to enter and explore the castle coz of maintanece otherwise it is really cool old place to hang out in.

Enjoyed the guided tour of the castle. You need to reserve your spot online and once there, you pay 6 euros (card only - no cash) for general admission and if you would like to see the tower and other areas you need to pay an additional 10 euros. The guide was informative and took questions.

When we got here at 6 pm, the gate was mealy closed but there were many people inside to prepare an event for tomorrow. Ticket is issued 60 min before closing time. There are car parking behind the castle.

We were on a cruise and as we left the port the castle was right in front of us. So we crossed the road and in we went. Just over a fiver to enter and if you want a full tour it's another £10. But well worth it, the tour guide was excellent, very knowledgeable and a bit funny. Which made it very enjoyable. So if you like castles why not visit this great place.

Absolutely stunning details on the façade of a massive fortification! So very unusual combination of classic strength and Italian carved figures. By the way, when you're admiring this elegance, you can also hide from the heat here))

Amazing place with so much history. Reasonable price to get in. If you want to explore the castle, be sure you state so as there are different options. Not so friendly staff. The magnifience of this place itself makes up for a few moments of unpleasantness. It's definitely worth the visit.

Good visit, price of 6 euros very reasonable. For such a large place not much is open. Says you can order tickets online but not working for me. Open at certain hours. So we stood in line for 1pm. Finally into the ticket office 5 people working 1 selling tickets. Finally into the castle at 120pm. And out by 215. I expected more but what we saw was good. January 5, 2024.

I lived here 7 years. Naples is under rated. Vibrant passionate city with so much culture and charm. I always stay by the Castel and love being by the sea. Lots to see and delicious food and friendly people. Right by the port and close to the train station. Wear comfortable shoes. It’s a beautiful spot.

Really cool castle, I believe it was €6 per person and you have to make a reservation but you can do it right when you get there. If you're driving around there's a pretty decent parking lot right next to this castle too

Beautiful place but was very hot baking hot. Used the bus to go around the place. The views were great and nice sight seeing.

For all the Cathedrals I've visited, this is by far one of the best. It is free entry, and so extravagant. Although I was told that you had to dress respectfully (shoulders and knees covered) this wasn't respected here? No hats to be worn in the Cathedral, and masks are optional, but it is a wonderful place to get hit with the full force of Catholicism.

An extraordinary holy place. It felt sacred to me as I sat silenty in awe of how it all felt to be there. I'm so glad I stepped in to look. One of my favorite finds, strolling around the city. Free to enter.

I went into the beautiful church, the crypt of San Gennero and saw the treasures of San Gennero. What an amazing museum worthy collection! Worth a trip even if you don't enter the museum and only look at the treasures from the church.

When you are in Il Duomo you have to visit Capella Di San Gennaro with Story about him and his blood and Basilica Di S. Restituta, extra paying but it worth for it

One of the best places to visit in Naples. Essential. I recommend to visit while there’s natural light because the lighting in the city is not too good. Also you’ll find the crypt of Saint Genaro open which is a must see as well. All for free.

Very nice cathedral to visit. Beautiful wall paintings and a very nice ceiling! Most beautiful part was the dome, it holds 2 layers and you can look outside. Don't forget to go in the crypt, nice to see. Only downside are the rovers outside the cathedral, not really friendly to watch.....

This is truly a sanctuary....having dodgeballed Napoli's poop infested streets, we took shelter in this cathedral for quite some time..absolutely beautiful. Highly recommended.

The most famous landmark of Naples. A must-see place. The church is so beautiful from outside, inside, ceiling, wall, and everything. You can literally spend all day looking at everything. The day we visited was a nice sunny day. The sunlight came through the well-designed high windows and covered one side of the church with golden light. It creates such peaceful and blessed atmosphere inside the church. Most items have signs described in English, some of them do not. You can use a translation app to help.

Nice cathedral close to the Main Street in Naples. Apart from the main part which is already impressive the side areas are also worth a visit. Don’t forget to walk all the way to the left end of the one on your left (upon entering) for a wonderful display (see attached pictures)

Really unique church with rich history. Just please be mindful when visiting. I'm not religious but I can respect that this is a religious site and adhere to the rules while still enjoying the space.
