Here at dusk, we saw loads of photographers and thinking it would evolve into some kind of fountain show, we waited, and waited as the water drained and returned.... I asked another 'watcher ' if anything else happened and he told me there was a fog to come - a bit later he said after googling it, that it had been cancelled through Covid and never reinstated so who knows 🤷‍♀️. A pretty place but not spectacular.

Elegant building. Large Inch-deep pool across the road. Maybe the pool is a mirror at night, however it was full of kids having a whale of a time during the day.

One of them locations that photos don't really do it justice so if you are in the area go there and see it the way it was meant to be viewed, there is a tram stop right outside just have to step off and take it all in, little tip walk up the small street on the right for some Bordeaux old town atmosphere

Bordeaux is a beautiful city to visit and there is so much to see and do, you should probably have to stay for a few days to see all the highlights!

Incomparable views with majestic buildings on one side and the Dordogne on the other, under a beautiful sky. Kids and adults alike will enjoy cooling their feet and taking pictures at the reflecting pool.

BEAUTIFUL EVEN UNDER CONSTRUCTION When I visited Bordeaux's most famous buildings, some of it was under construction and there was no water in the fountain. That didn't ruin what was otherwise a memorable visit to the Place de la Bourse. It's a nice square to hang around in and looks even better at night. Admittedly, you can't really visit the inside (not that I'm aware?) but it's nice to visit.

This is a square landmark for the town, where everybody comes here for view of the town and the river, and it's an amusement park for kids to play with fountain. The tram stop here as well, just right next to the walking area.

Such an amazing site! You just have to wait for the perfect timing where there is no wind and the water reflection is still to capture the mirror effect. We had to visit several times just to get the perfect shot. Too bad there is some construction covering on the left side of the building but it is still okay. Amazing architecture, amazing plaza!

A big free attraction in Bordeaux! A place very interesting in front the elegant place (Place de la Bourse). Childs and adult walk on and play on the water. Beautiful place for shooting photo, in the morning and at the sunset..

So I visited in April but apparently it doesn't work from October to April to protect the pipe system from having frozen water inside it. It is said to be the largest water mirror in the world! Would've loved to see it!!

Very cool effect. Make sure to stay long enough to have the water fill the basin, then drain. The full mirror effect does not occur until almost drained.

It's really cool. Fills with water maybe every twenty mins, then ripples for a while before reducing to become a mirror. Really good photos, free to enter, not too crowded. Ruined slightly by the number of trams in between the mirror and buildings

Lovely installation! The moment when the water reflects the surroundings is the most beautiful one. Interesting mirror made of water. The concept is nice and would be extremely cool at dawn and night. The place could become a bit overcrowded at night, with some kids and people running and walking over the thin layer of water. Nice to see during a stroll of the city of Bordeaux.

This place is great. It is both a tourist attraction and a local attraction. While we were here it was super hot in July so many families were visiting the Mirrior. If you want good pictures go in the morning at 10 to avoid the crowds.

Unusual and clever shallow pool area in front of stunning architecture. Shallow pool for 25 minutes, then drains and a mist fog appear. Lovely place to cool down, take photos, and watch the world go by. Very clever and worth a visit

There is currently some construction that makes for a sad picture but it is otherwise a picturesque place to people watch, contemplate, and rest. Trams C And D stop right outside the attraction so access is not an issue except for 5 steps.

Great experience! It’s expansive and takes a little getting used to the way the interactive experiences work and navigating the crowds. Going there when it’s less busy would have been better. We tasted a wine upstairs and maybe would have chosen differently if we were informed ahead that there’s only one taste per person. We wrongfully assumed we might be able to taste a few with our ticket. Overall a fun and educational time!

It really is a masterpiece of a museum. When I was told the majority of stuff was on the second floor, I didn't think it could be that great. I was wrong. They pack so much into their space, but with enough room where you aren't crowded with the other people. I went midday on a Sunday and was able to get through in a little over three hours before I enjoyed my glass of wine on the eighth floor. The coolest part was the sensory exhibit where you can smell all the different aromas that might come up in your wine tastings. It was really nice. The bottle shop is also mesmerizing with all the selections. They really did this right. I used the city ticket and was able to get free access and a glass of wine, so if you're visiting the city, I highly recommend that!

Lots of really cool interactive exhibits. Depending on your level of wine knowledge, there is potentially a lot to learn. The Cite du Vin facility is worth the visit on its own. It was crazy busy the Sunday we visited so we didn't get to all we wanted to. I wouldn't recommend bringing the little ones. There were a lot of sad little faces.

Super modern, futuristic museum - but may not be for everyone. This museum is state of the art when it comes to technology, interaction and stimulating your various senses. If you are into wine, this is a great place to learn and improve on your wine knowledge. But the entry price is steep, especially when there is no temporary exhibition. The museum’s permanent exhibition is rather compact being distributed on a single floor, but the depth of audio / visual content can keep you engaged for an entire day if you so wish. An added bonus is the included wine tasting (1 glass) on the highest floor with a nice panoramic view, lots of wines to choose from and good sommelier assistance.

This impressive encyclopedic museum dedicated to viticulture, wine making and the associated culinary traditions is a must see for any oenophile who finds her/himself in the city of Bordeaux. Nearly 20 impressive multimedia powered exhibits are featured in the museum's permanent exhibit. All major languages are supported. While this museum proudly showcases France's accomplishments, visitors from other wine making powerhouses will not feel under represented. This is a "go at your own pace" experience. We spent three hours including the complimentary tasting on the highest floor followed by a visit to the wine store and gift shop. There are multiple dining options available on site from a simple cafe to a full service restaurant. If those don't appeal there is an impressive food hall across the street. Very ample parking is found in the structure adjacent to the food hall. Those staying in downtown Bordeaux might consider a walk to this museum or taking one of the many trams running along the river front. A visit to this museum might be recommended for those spending more than three days who seek information complimentary to their winery tours.

A must do if you love wine or wish to understand more about wine! Amazing experience with audio and visual engagements for wines across the globe! Arriving in the afternoon about 2pm it’s the best as there were no lines. Pro tip across the road is the fancy food vendors, pop in there for a afternoon tea with some drinks!

This is well worth a visit when visiting the City All of the History and all of the education you could wish for in terms of Bordeaux and its wines. We spent more time than we expected here and got to cap off the visit with a glass in the top floor bar overlooking the whole city.

Very informative and the exhibits are also highly interactive. You can play and “sense” the exhibits through many ways. However, since you need to wait for others to finish their turns, it’s better to avoid weekends. Otherwise, you need to wait or give up on some parts. For wine tasting, there is a wide selection of wines. They also provide non-alcoholic grape juice. Those drinking options are all premium products. But they didn’t sell wine in the souvenir shops.

Pros: kid friendly, very educational, interactive, small enough to do in 1.5 hours (if rushing a bit), but still enough to keep you entertained. Cons: it’s a bit of sensory overload, a LOT to take in within a little space, you pick and choose so more than likely you will not get to it all, the flow of it is a little disjointed with the open footprint of wander where you’d like. The tasting at the top is really quite enjoyable with the views. Wish we had more time, but this definitely feels like a museum one can return to more than once.

What an amazing place for wine lovers, such an amazing designed building stands out across Bordeaux and is a real must on your visit. The museum is so modern and interactive with 3D images and sounds in each section, telling the story of wine from start to finish, you can even answer some interactive questions to find your wine, that suits you. The rooftop is totally stunning with amazing views.

Amazing museum, learned a lot of bordeaux region ands its wines. But also about other countries and more. The exhibition is very intriguing and interactive. All your senses will be tested. Finally, with the standard ticket you get a wine tasting at the top of the building. This reminds me, the design is incredible and well thought.

Booked to do the wine tasting class and the main exhibition. The wine tasting class was in French with an English audio guide which felt as if I could have probably done it by myself. The main exhibition was exceptional. So immersive and interactive. An area designed for everyone and about every topic related to wine. Would highly recommend the main exhibition.

Regular entrance can be bought on a walk in basis during non peak tourist season, it also includes complimentary glass of wine and entrance to the viewing platform. The creativity and modern technology, and thought that went into this beautiful museum of wine is an experience for your senses. My only wish is that they had more of a selection for a free glass of wine after the tour. I was hoping for one glass of left bank Bordeaux Cabernet and it was not available. But that is a small price to pay after such a beautiful wine, museum experience.

We came to La Cite du Vin on a Sunday afternoon. No queue is required and we paid €22 per pax for the ticket. The ticket includes a tour to the museum and a glass of wine at top floor, whereby you can have a sip of wine while enjoying the city view. You will get an earphone and an audio guide at the entrance and the information of each station is informative and helpful. Highly recommend to visit if you are in Bordeaux.

The price is a bit steep... But the best thing was that the museum was very interactive... You get to smell fragrances, and animated storyline videos... Other than that, it was mostly videos. It wasn't the type that brought you into the wine cellar and showing tools used in the olden days to grind grapes type, equipment used, the traditional way of making wine etc... So it was just more modern understanding of making wine from different countries... The view from the top while sipping the wine is also a highlight

Lovely and spacious square. The cathedral is currently being restored and the large gilded statue has recently been placed on the spire. A lot of activity going around the plaza. Perfect spot for sunbathing and cultural attraction.

Gothic Roman Style. A clock on an internal side wall is interesting. An Eagle as a podium unique.

While I was unable to fully explore the interior due to an ongoing mass, the experience left a lasting impression. Its exterior alone is a masterpiece, and I look forward to returning to explore the hidden treasures that lie behind its doors. Great place tu visit. They are working on the restoration of the main organ. Bitraux are amazing (a must). Enjoy the place with time...

Amazing architecture. Although it would have been better if they provide like an audio guide or a brochure about the history of the place. Alot of infrastructure as still being restored/fixed but it looks great.

I had a tour with recorded guide from GYG app. The cathedral was dated in 15 Century AD. It was build by archbishop of Aquitaine and Bordeaux rev. Pey Berland. The cathedral has very interesting construction due to marshes along the river Garone. The Bell Tower was built separately for the reason that the bell can destroy the cathedral with the resonance. You can see the stained glasses and all the chapples. Great masters!

Beautiful space but their large posters only cover their fundraising for their organ. Nothing about their history. For example, interesting change in column structure! But no info on it at all. I’d donate more if they were interested in educating me about this space. No public restrooms although nearby public one is closed. Seems a church should really be a bit more helpful to the general public. Ask for the pass sanitaire as do restaurants, if you wish- but serve the people.

Toured central area of Bordeux, France. We found cool flea markets, the entire central area is largely built in gothic stone architecture, and a great beltway around the Garonne River full of people, food, and sites. Visited one of the most impressive cathedrals we've come across so far in the EU (Cathédrale Saint-André). Mind blowing site! This area is large, but for 5€ mass transport available by tram, bus, and boat. Too much to see in one day! 🤙

Stunning especially the design of the vaulted ceiling. How did they actually do that way back in the 1400s without MEWPS or cranes.!!

SUPER CATHEDRAL There's lots of churches here in Bordeaux, but if you only have time for one, visit this one! Saint Andre Cathedral is really nice to visit, there are some amazing pictures you can take from the outside and the interior (whilst dark) looks very pretty. If you want some super cool pictures, come back at night and they light it up!

It was superb...one of the best cathedrals in Europe. Extremely nice architecture all over the cathedral. Don't forget to visit tour pey berland just at the back of the cathedral.

We came here during the day and walked around. Its a beautiful cathedral. But the temporary show they have gling on to raise money for the restoration of the church was one of the most incredible things I've experienced in recent memory. Thats not an exaggerated statement. We saw the light show which was the history of the cathedral and the music in it. I've added some videos here. All I can say is... if you get the chance in this or another cathedral, go do it. Absolutely incredible.

We were really blown away by this. There are so many beautiful churches in Bordeaux that we honestly didn't realize this was the cathedral. I know you may think that's a little strange but when you come visit you will get it. Nevertheless, make sure you get here. It is a beautiful place with a gorgeous tower. Unfortunately the tower was closed when we arrived so I couldn't give this a full five stars but may revise my review if we get to the tower and it is all that it is supposed to be.

Very remarkable late gothic Cathedral. Impressive light from the interior. The organ is a masterpiece. It is very curious than the bell tower is apart from the rest of the Cathedral, and that is because the muddy nature of the ground in Bordeaux, that does not allow to overcharge too much an area. Beautiful Cathedral, old and historical. It's one of the important landmarks in Bordeaux. It's located in the center and everything is close to it. The tram station A B C D, is beside it. so, you can easily go there by tram from airport or anywhere you come.

The Pont Jacques Chaban-Delmas in Bordeaux is a marvel of engineering. This is a local landmark due to its hight and a very stunning design we were just walking by and had to stop just to admire it

Great bridge to see Bordeaux. Lots of space for walking, running and cycling.

This bridge is HUGE! I was wondering what those four pillars are while I was still far away but then realized that its a bridge. I've yet to see this one in action like when theres a boat crossing and the bridge will lift 'the road. There is also a possibility to go up. However, I think you need special permit for that. There were a few people- I think its their field trip, that went to the top. I tried to go with them but was not allowed to.

I was present at the event, when the bridge was raised during the passage of the liner, it was amazingly interesting, it was raining a little, but still people and I looked at this event with pleasure and admiration. I recommend!

It's a bridge. If you want to get to the other side of the river, this will be important to you. Do note though that a considerable section of this bridge raises by a significant amount (to enable river traffic to also pass to the other side of this bridge), and when raised, your progress to that other side of the river will be hampered. So if the bridge is closed, prepare yourself for either a long wait or a slight detour.

Historical bridge across the river but water is very muddy. -" Have some morning fleet market trades by migrants during our walk along the river !

This is one of Bordeaux’s most historic landmarks commissioned by Napoleon and finished after his death. It is beautiful day or night and lovely to walk across as the tide rushes in or out. The 17 arches are for the the letters in Napoleon’s full name. It’s popular with runners because the traffic is limited.

A historical bridge in Bordeaux which if you go on it you can get beautiful views of the river and city.

This bridge caught my attention while i was walking near the river. It looked really nice. Its a long walk but i get to enjoy the view and the people who were there as well. You can also see the current's strength of the river and it looks very scary. Viewed from a distance, the autumn leaves adds more beauty especially if seen from an angle.

18 arches, Le pont de pierre is lit up at night and ferries trams, scooters and pedestrians throughout the day. But not cars! A busy road, it will take you over to la bastide where you can visit Darwin Ecosystem and other neighbourhoods in bordeaux

For me it was the best architectural monument to see in Bordeaux... Highly recommended to buy advance tickets if you want to enter inside. Obviously for me the best view was at night when all the lights were lit up.

Excellent concert, good acoustics and Ms. Rangwanasha's soprano was to die for. Superb!

We were extremely lucky to have the chance to take part on a tour inside this beautiful building - it is opened for visitors for only two days every year. The concert hall is a gem (though the seats are not from the most comfortable ones), and there is a great view from the balcony.

All the majesty of Bordeaux is there! Close to the quays, rue Sainte-Catherine, Allées Tournis, Place Gambetta and the pedestrian and restaurant area of ​​the capital of Aquitaine. BEAUTIFUL BUILDING - TICKETS SELL OUT FAST! One of the more beautiful buildings in Bordeaux - it's very pretty to look at from the outside. Particularly at night, this is a great place to take photos and videos. If you want to see the Opera or a show, the tickets sell out FAST! So book early and in advance. They do tours of the Opera house, but this is rare and I just missed out on one. So if you want to do a tour of it, you'll have to plan it in advance too!

Didn't get to tour, but just seeing the architecture on the outside and in the foyer, amazing, especially when you realise when it was made. Love to return and see more...

I took the Thursday tour in English. I wish I could've seen a show here, but if that also isn't an option for you I would reccommend the tour. This place is stunning and so so interesting.

Beautiful Opera House. I'd definitely recommend visiting.

The opera house was built in the 18th century. The building has a very beautiful and richly decorated facade. Unfortunately, we only stayed in Bordeaux for one day, so we didn't see any shows.

Apart from the outstanding architectural beauty of this building the opera was a splendid version of Madame Butterfly! Well worth a visit!!!

It’s beautiful especially in the day time and it’s so quiet which makes it peaceful to relax and take it all in. Usually a small cafe near by and food stall (churros ) which was just what we needed after a day of sight seeing.

The Monument aux Girondins is a prominent feature in Bordeaux, both for its historical significance and its impressive architectural and artistic elements. The monument stands as a symbol of the city's connection to the turbulent period of the French Revolution.

It's shocking how it makes you feel tiny! I stopped there with the tram, this city is well-connected.

NICE MONUMENT, SHAME THERE'S NO WATER Ordinarily, this Monument has a running fountain, but for some reason they've turned it off, which is a shame. But beautiful carved statues and it makes for some nice images. Currently, there's a large fairground on the grounds, which is worth checking out if you want something to do at night in Bordeaux.

Free entry, lovely artwork and amazing water fountain. Centrally located, with metro connection to every region of Bordeaux. There are coffee shops, restaurants and other shopping places all located around. A very great tourist attraction site for families and it provides awesome views that meet the tastes of both the old and the young. You should never visit Bordeaux without visiting the monument for a great experience.

One of the most impressive monuments you will see. Its size is so much larger than you might imagine, and the detail of the statue and fountain is breathtaking. A must see if in Bordeaux.

Lovely statue but unfortunately no water until the summer!

Fantastic monument. Even the creepy sea horses with claws and tentacles are so enthusiastic that you get swept up in a republican frenzy. Also, they're spewing water out their noses, so it makes them seem less threatening. I'm not sure why the statue babies doing artwork look so stern, but I dig it anyway.

Finished in 1902, this marvelous monument stands proud to commemorate the execution of the Girondins deputies. It’s really beautiful and the sound of water pouring from everywhere is just so soothing. It might be a bit crowded at some point of the day.

A relaxing park that is near Place de Tourney in Bordeaux city. Here you will find the Nature and Science museum, an outdoor cafe terrace, space to picnic and play games. There is a children’s carousel and a small boat for the picturesque water feature. Open till 8pm in summer.

We took bikes into the park. It was beautiful and full of life. From the visitors, locals walking their dogs, enjoying the sunshine to many people relaxing on the grass. The gardens were well looked after with geese in the ponds and a boat ride if you were interested.

A calm and nice park in the city of Bordeaux. We had the chance to visit it in Autumn so we marveled on the beautiful colors of trees and plants. You can also admire the black geese and birds around the park. If you’d like to, you can take a boat tour in the canal.

Beautiful gardens a short walk away from the centre of Bordeaux. A wonderful place to sit and relax and admire nature. If I was lucky enough to live in Bordeaux I would visit Jardin Public every day!

One of the best public parks I’ve ever been. Stumbled across by chance and what a wonderful surprise. Beautifully manicured gardens, a boating lake, punch & judy shows, old time dancing, bar/ cafe and hundreds of people playing in the sun. I would highly recommend a visit.

Fantastic place to relax and enjoy nice open sceneries and you can even have coffee/drinks and food in the beautiful cafeteria. Sometimes there are shows for children. Plenty of benches to sit on, overall clean park perfect for a picnic.

Nice park to have a stroll or just relax on the grass. It has a playground for the younger kids. Two automatic public toilets are however not enough for the amount of people visiting.

I love that there is a small public library in the park. Sharing knowledge is caring. You could read one of the books and put it right back. Well done 👏🏾👏🏾

Pretty good experience , there are some animal that you can approach and take in picture and if you follow the principal path , you can find an area of grass where you can take your towel and just sit or lie down on it to chill with your friend or family There are a space for children's where you can find swing, a big wooden ship and some other things for children's Finally you can paid a ticket to do a tour of the park in a little boat that can contain 12 people max At all a pretty good experience

Nice green park in the central area of Bordeaux. Quiet on a January cold day, but nonetheless beautiful. It has a pond inhabited with geese, ducks and water hens. Lovely park for a relaxing stroll or to bring your dog for a walk

Love this place! It’s a fantastic park, very well kept, clean and quiet. A great place to go in the heat - plenty of space and shade. The large lake and area by the bridge is very beautiful and there is even a short boat ride around the river to look at wildlife. There is a botanic garden, a restaurant- bar on the terrace plus small ice cream cafe. For children there is a playground and a puppet show, and the natural History museum is in the corner. Great for picnics and strolls and a must see when in Bordeaux.

Lovely well maintained garden. We spent about an hour walking around. Lots of butterflies and a Hummingbird Hawk-moth but no caterpillars, which was what I was hoping to find. I did spot a Scarce Swallowtail butterfly which is something we don't have in the UK 👍🏽

Wonderful garden! It’s really calm, peaceful and there are lots of shady spots with benches where you can sit, relax and cool down, which we’re loving during the current heatwave. As it’s a botanical garden, there are also so many different plants and flowers blooming, which is a really pretty sight and makes the garden smell lovely too. Don’t hesitate to come to the public garden for a lovely morning or afternoon stroll!

Beautiful place to visit. Popular with locals , watch the squirrels, people cycling, some walking their dogs, others relax on the bench. There is also a cordoned off area for dogs to run without their leash.

France loves there parks and are everywhere and are heavily used

We happened upon this area in the evening and the Grosse is very impressive at night with the lights and lively little streets. A must see in Bordeaux and if you can visit in the evening,even better.

The Grosse Cloche of Bordeaux Is a famous landmark. The tower with the bell was dated in 15th century AD. It connects two side buildings and is above the street. It is part of the old city hall. A beautifully build with two golden clocks.

Lovely surprise of the Grosse Cloche in the narrow lane and lively street. The building consists of the medieval bell, city wall and the church is well restored. Register on the website of the tourism center if you wish to visit the interior.

The architecture of the Grosse Cloche is impressive! The Church of Saint Eloi is right next to it, there you can learn about the city and the church history. The surrounding streets are very lively, with great restaurants and bars, making this one of the best places to visit in Bordeaux.

REALLY COOL! If you walk the streets, you'll come across this ancient gate with a clock and a giant bell. It's a beautiful place for pictures and videos and even more impressive at night. There's some nice eateries around there too, so it's worth visiting.

I didnt search for this place but I knew it already. And believe it or not, I found it accidentally :) which makes the "grosse cloche" my best. I tried to take the pictures for you, I tried to show you that made me love that place the most. I want to ride my horse to pass under where makes me feel like I am living in the medieval ages.

Lovely to see, great lit up at night especially at Christmas time. Some good café and bistros in the area too. Narrow old streets lots of atmosphere.

Amazing architecture! Considering that it was built in 1495 as the entrance to the city it's even more amazing that it still stands today. I'll have to come back when it's open so that I can go inside to take advantage of the view. Open or closed it's still a must see. Highly recommend.

Neat little tower with four floors. Admission is 5€ which is okay, but there is no tour or anything. There is not much to see inside in terms of artifacts, just a few hand tools. The view from the top is very nice and the staff are friendly. I wish they allowed access to the outside area on the third floor but it is locked.

One of the sights included when you buy the Bordeaux city pass. Beautiful building with centuries of history. Something to learn and enjoy on every floor. The lady and gentleman working there were so helpful in giving more information about the history of this structure and all of Bordeaux - even gave advice on excellent restaurants in Bordeaux that are affordable. Great views from the top as well. Go experience it!

AMAZING CITY GATE This is one of the many city gates that you'll find in Bordeaux. At various times, you can go inside. Easy to find, down the street from the Place de la Bourse, it's pretty cool to walk through. Great pictures can be taken at any time of the day or night, but be warned - it's usually full of tourists holding up the road trying to take rather unimaginative selfies and the same photos as everyone else.

One of the important landmarks to visit in Bordeaux, it's close to the center, you could go there by walking or by tram. It's really worth to have a look and to take some photos there. Highly recommended for any one new coming to Bordeaux.

233 steps to reach the top of the tower. Quite a walk... And the passage is super narrow. But the view of Bordeaux at the top is amazing !!!

Great place to observe Bordeaux from the top. Free for EU citizen, the steps were very narrow but pretty safe. Be mindful of the opening hour, it was close on lunchtime and after 5 PM.

Steep walk up a spiral staircase to be rewarded with the stunning view of Bordeaux! Fascinating to learn about the big bells too! Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. We had the City Pass (highly recommended) and we popped in to book to go up a couple of hours later.

Ready to climb up the 233 steps of the helical stairs leading up to one of the most spectacular views on Bordeaux? This is the place to be!! For a small price you get to see the biggest bells in the belltower (one of 8 tons and heavier than the bells in the cathedral), the most beautiful views and history of this beautiful city on top of it. It’s definitely worth taking the 233 steps up the tower. Good view over the city

1st terrace on 40m after 184 steps, 2nd terrace on 50m after 232 steps. A little bit breathtaking to step up trough narrow round stairs but you can see Bordeaux’s beautiful landscapes of town from there.

From the outside quite nice but didn’t go up. 9 euros to do a 233 steps is a joke sorry. Maybe we should stop monetising everything.

Costs 6 EUR, but you need an allotted time slot. Something like 233 steps. It was quite busy. A good view of the cathedral and across the rooftops of the city. In comparison, the similar bell tower in St Emilion is 2 EUR. 196 steps up, with great views from the very top. Nobody else was in there at the time.

If you're under 26, you can visit it for free! Amazing view of Bordeaux, but reaching the top may be quite exhausting because of all the steps!

The view only gets better with each step, and once you reach the top, the panoramic view of Bordeaux unfold before your eyes. The architecture of the Tower is equally captivating, a striking Gothic design, elegant spire, and intricate details. The tower's historical significance and architectural beauty add another layer to the overall experience.

A very interesting museum about the region. I give 4 stars as I think it would be good to clearly inform visitors about all the sections in advance. Indeed, as others did and said, we spent too much time at the beginning and we had not enough time for the end (and we did spend already 2.5 hours inside). I would recommend at least 3 hours to visit and if less I would advise to go a bit faster on the first sections in order not to miss the last ones. Minus points : not many toilets available during the full visit and no bench to rest (just a chair sometimes).

Interesting museum, it gives a good overview of Bordeaux’s history. It wasn’t clear at the beginning how big it was so we probably spent too much time in the first rooms and at the end unfortunately we were a bit tired. Audio guides in French, English and Spanish only.

Interesting museum covering the history of Aquitaine from Neolithic times to the present. I found the part covering all the ancient rock carvings in the area particularly interesting as well as the imperial era and its links to the slave trade. The middle section (Roman and Medieval) didn’t have English signage for some reason, but the rest did - and Google Translate was surprisingly effective.

Went to this museum to kill time before my car rental. It did not disappoint. Plenty of interesting artifacts and exhibits taking the region of Aquitaine throughout all historical periods. They have a great exhibit on slavery and the complex history that the region has on it as well as an incredible exhibit on the French Revolution.

In my humble opinion this museum is the best among the museums in Bordeaux. It is very impressive, well arranged, interesting and informative. It contains a lot of history, so it is best to have at least 3-4 hours to spend inside.

This is a great little museum. It spans the entirety of human, and prehuman, habitation of this area. It is set out very well and easily walkable. There are some really nice 3D applications you can look at on your phone and good signage. If you don't speak any French you may miss some things because a lot of the signage is in French only. However, use Google translate and you should be fine. Definitely worth a visit!

Amazing museum of the history of man in Bordeaux up until modern times, I would give the whole opening hours to really see the whole museum. Fantastic exhibits and really informative to the area and culture

This is a phenomenal museum with 400,000 years of history from Paleolithic period to Iron Age, to Roman period through medieval times. The museum takes you to the history of Bordeaux area up until the present period with its vast collection of artifacts. It’s second floor had great exhibits on Bordeaux’s shipping trade routes and maritime history. Give yourself a full day to absorb and learn the history of this region of France. One of the finest museums of its kind.

Really fantastic museum that covers a wide range of history and topics. The prehistoric section was a highlight as this region is well-known for cave paintings and all the research into early peoples here. They also don't shy away from difficult subjects, especially Bordeaux's significant role in the slave trade. My only critique would be that a lot of racist imagery was displayed in the later parts of the exhibits with no real context or reason why racist advertisements or depictions were prominently displayed. It was quite jarring. Most things were either in English or accessible through a translation app. Much of the museum is also translated into Spanish as well. Well worth the time and money spent.

I love history and I had less than an hour to kill so I decided to drop by the museum. I was quite sad as the museum was great, a lot of information to offer and a great history of the area to discover but I had to leave quickly. I will come back again.

It was really good, but the English translations are not so good. I can read decently in French, but it's not my first language so that could be a problem. Apart from that, the musee has great pieces. Very interesting.
