The Frauenkirche in Dresden is a beautiful church. This impressive building is very beautiful to look at from the outside and inside. We even had a guided tour with interesting information and backgrounds The city that suffered the most from the destruction of World War II, demonstrates the strength of reconstruction and its beauties!

I simply love this place ❤️ I was at Dresden for 3 times but I was waiting for 20 years to get there. From my childhood we had at our library book about Dresdener museum and I want to get there since I was 5. So my dreams come true and now I am visiting this lovely place approx twice a year.

Dresden is the first German city where I have visited. It was an interesting trip . Dresden is a new experience for me. It’s a city with interesting architecture, beautiful views and interesting places. I liked it so much .

A unique, magnificent view of Dresden that takes the tiredness of climbing up individual steps and narrow corridors to that church. To be loved, to be admired. This baroque style church, which remained a war memorial for fifty years, fascinates with its magnificence.

Frauenkirche ( "Church of (our) Lady"), in Czech Church of Our Lady, is an Evangelical Lutheran church in Dresden. A really awesome Baroque buildings in Germany. Unfortunately we didn't get to go inside. However I love that. As for the whole Dresden.

Dresden is a beautiful place. At all season it’s beautiful. You can just roam around the city and it’s more beautiful by night.

Like all buildings from Dresden, this wonderful cathedral has been completely rebuilded and finished 60 years after the bombing from '45. The baroque style respect every details from the old cathedral and it looks gorgeous. Do not miss to get inside, it is overwhelming.

The Church of “Our Lady”, which withstood the cannon shots of the Prussians, as well as the air raid of the British army. It fell only due to the melting of the sandstone by fire, rebuilt. Incredible work

Beautiful church to visit. Cost is free to go into the church. You can ascend to the dome for 10 euro. Well worth it. 70 meters high (221 ft) to viewing area. I counted 304 stairs descent with 300 meters of spiral climb (non steps)

We visited the nearby bridge to witness the colourful new year celebrations. If you don’t eyewitness it you won’t be able to feel the ambience as well. Few photographs have been captured to have a look later, however, which is not sufficient, I believe.

So much history here for this magnifisent church. We stayed also at the musical instruments playing at 18.00 with the ceremony.

Not usual architecture for religious place: plenty sunlight inside all over the building. The kirche dominate of Dresden Old Town, recommended to observe also outside.

Beautiful church in the baroque style with some elements of rococo. As of 2024, it’s 10 euros to go up and it’s definitely worth it.

What a marvelous church and rich history that comes with it. It was bombed and destroyed during WW2 by ally forces and left in ruin during the communist rules. Then, the church was rebuilt in 8the 1990s and stands firm as a witness of history. The lady staff holding an album of the historical photos near the front area was extremely helpful by explaining its history to visitors. Highly recommended!

A beautiful church located in the middle of Dresden's old city centre. It's a must-see when you visit Dresden. The church was heavily destroyed during World War II but has been beautifully reconstructed. Admission to the church is free of charge. The interior is also breathtaking.

Iconic and historically significant, the church feels light and cheerful. I visited for a baroque music concert and enjoyed the acoustic and atmosphere.

The Zwinger complex is incomprehensible until you’ve visited! You have no idea how grand it is until you’re there. We visited the grounds and the Old Masters Picture Gallery. Even though the grounds are getting worked on, the architecture is impressive enough to appreciate its grandeur. We really enjoyed the gallery as well.

Unfortunately, during our visit, the courtyard was being renovated - with the entire thing having been dug up. The buildings are still impressive and the architecture is interesting. It's a huge building with multiply attractions. The place is a combination of a baroque palace, museums, an art gallery, a park, a terrace, with fountains, stairs sculptures. A beautiful place to discover, learn and relax.. An absolute must see in Dresden!

Would have given it 5 stars but most of the inner garden was under construction. Lots to see as you walk around from stone carving to great views from the top of the walls. Lots of places to stop and admire the views and onions dorms and the very impressive chiming clock would like to call back when the garden works have been completed

A perfect place to visit during your time in Dresden. I went in spring and it was beautiful. It has many spots for photos and it is very nice to walk all around the gardens and the palace.

Incredible place! Sadly we were here during renovations, so we didn't get to see it in it's full glory, but it's super cool even under construction.

And it’s a perfect place for photo session . We went there when it was reconstruction’s works . Exciting to see that next time when they will finish renovations. Europe's most important baroque palace complex - and currently also a massive construction site. It is of course magnificent - but it would've been nice the Dresden website had a heads-up about the current state of the courtyard. Must visit - but especially when it's finished!

Reallynice place to visit, I did in winter time so I think I prefer back in a good time to enjoy more thus beautiful place. They are rebuilding now so I hope when I will back I can be ready to visit completely

Very interesting set of buildings. Totally rebuilt after the war by using whatever blocks were still useable. The orange (as in the fruit) greenhouse is marvelous.

I found this area amazing. These buildings were an inspiration to restoration! When you look back at the history of Dresden and what happened to it during world was 2, you'd never think it had ever been obliterated. what a pretty city it is now.

The complex is having sone restoration/construction but I still had a great time admiring and walking along the corridors of the baroque palace! Very impressive architecture and lots of interesting structures…

A lovely Rococo buildings collection with their characteristic charm and lightness. The garden is currently under renovation and the water features are not working either.

Walking in history, you can feel the interweaving of time and space, the interdependence of light and shadow, as if you are traveling through time and space and having a conversation with history.

Stunning and impressive. Most important monument architecture in Dresden. It is a complex with gardens built in 1709. Acknowledged a masterpiece of baroque architecture, it now houses internationally renowned museums and is the stage for many renowned music and drama performances.

Breathtaking and amazing palace. Even though I have been here countless times, this palace never ceases to impress me. If you visit Dresden, this place is definitely a must-see. It is free of charge to look around the building. (Unfortunately it’s under construction at the moment).

Beautiful The whole museum is beautiful, whether it is on the inside or outside, the architecture and the collection will not disappoint you ! We took tickets for the porcelain exhibition and the gallery and didn't have enough time to visit everything unfortunately... But it was definitely worth it !

Truly a spectacle. 🌟 The intricate details behind this artwork is enough to stop you in your tracks and simply appreciate the workmanship for a good 20-30 mins. 🙌🏼 Plenty of tourists typically walk along this street, so don't waste an opportunity to get a clear photo when there's nobody around! 📸

Wonderful mural but it would be best to visit it with a guide since there is a lot of history depicted there which you could entirely miss otherwise.

Loved it! It is the best and at the same time simplest way to enjoy the history in Dresden. Walk through the history of Saxon simply by walking by this piece of art. I cannot put it into words how interesting it was, especially if somebody plays some nice music in the background. It's also located at the heart of Dresden with very easy accessibility to a lot of restaurants and Frauenkirche. It'd be great to take a walk in the area every morning and have a headstart every day.

The fact that something this impressive just casually exists in the center of Dresden is just incredible. Fürstenzug is absolutely a must-visit in this city - luckily, you don’t have to travel out of your way to see it. It is located right in the center of town, near many other famous sights in the city. If you visit in wintertime (like I did), you’ll find half a dozen Christmas markets within 5-10 minutes walking distance from Fürstenzug. It is an amazingly intricate and beautiful mural that puts pretty much any others I’ve ever seen to shame! Check this out next time you’re in Dresden - you will be amazed!

This Procession of Princes dates from the 1870's and it is a mural showing all the rulers of Saxony. It can be reached in about 15 minutes if you walk from the Main Train Station. A must!

A very well preserved art wall in the city centre. Walking through this road, it feels like you are having a history lesson of the city and the region of Saxony!

Reigning Monarchs from 1127-1873. This is portrayed outside of palace wall in Dresden and painted on porcelain. This porcelain was the only thing that withstood the burning heat from 1945 allied bombings

A beautiful wall, completely painted with the story of the Saxon princess back from 1870s. Very detailed and marvellous art work full with history. A must visit if you are in the area. This can be combined with Dresden palace and the famous Frauenkirche.

Amazing mural going back in time. We could see it from our hotel room at the Hilton Dresden. My kids lived it!

Great-looking historical mural.

Even if you are not a museum lover, you would definitely love it. All those jewelry collections are simply stunning. Buy ticket in advance.. Must visit. Taking pictures are not allowed.

Dazzling display of wealth. This is a must see in Dresden. Timed entry is required, and you can’t take any pictures in the old green vault. All the pictures are from the new green vault. I’d say the old green vault is worth it because it’s even more luxurious than the new one.

I paid 16 euros for entrance only for old and new Grüne Gewölbe parts. It was worth everything because the old grüne gewölbe part was impressive. They have a big jewellery collection. Not allowed to take photos. you can only pass the security door to enter the old grüne gewölbe. for a few people can visit the rooms. There are 7 special rooms. When I got there the ticket was almost finished then I bought a late-hour ticket that was 2 euros more expensive than the normal one. And they sell tickets limited I highly recommend buying tickets as many as earlier.

Good and interesting. If you're not that much interested in museums, I will suggest you go and visit there if you didn't visit any other museum for last one year. Otherwise it may be a little boring.

The most interesting part of this museum is the room of green diamonds 41 carats. So amazing stone with beautiful sparkling light.

This place has so much to see. I would not bother with a tour. We had signed our 10th graders up for a tour and it was way too short. Sadly, you do not really get to see that much on the on the tour. We really only saw what felt about 2% of the exhibition. I highly recommend using your ticket to climb to the top of the tower because you have an amazing view.

Really nice Museum. It has a lot of wonderful art, reminding me of more popular museums from Italy. Would definitely return.

It was amazing, best weapons collection I have ever seen!

Beautifully restored 18th century museum housing some lovely and controversial treasures. Entry to the museum costs €14 pp with audio guide included. 9 rooms of treasures are arranged in a horseshoe shape from and back to the Ante-Room. The rooms are: 1. Ivory Room 2. Amber Room - my favourite 3. White Silver room 4. Silver gilt room 5. Hall of Precious Objects - stucco ceiling, rock crystal, ostrich egg 6. Coats of Arms Room 7. Jewel Room 8. Room of Bronzes 9. Room of Renaissance Bronze The circuits lasts approximately 1.5 hours with no seats available until the last room and Ante-Room. No photographs are allowed inside the museum.

I have to say, it's worth the money but don't rush, take your time and spare some. The location is quite deceiving, I did not expect much when I entered but man was I in for a shocking surprise. When I entered I did not expect much, but, weeeewwww! This place is a sight to behold. The history is beautiful, it's just amazing what is inside and what you learn in those few hours you take to move around. It has a mix of slightly modern with old architectural designs and items inside. Do wear some flat and flexible walking shoes it will take a while to explore. To recommend it? Yep, I recommend it 100%. Will I go back? A day I have free yesssss!

Part of one of the moat richest treasury in Europe. You do get an audio guide which explains you everything, so you do not need a guide to show you around. They have so many mind blowing collections of all kinds of gemstones, ivory collections, gold decor and the famous green diamond which is the main part of attraction here. They also have the golden model of the court from Moughal emperor Aurangzeb, which is so delicately and nicely explained. It took me 10 minutes to go through all those minute details. It is one of its kind. Do not miss the chance to see and admire the famous Green diamond.

An amazing collection that is definitely worth visiting! We spent about an hour inside and enjoyed to the max! Also, buy your tickets online in advance, because they only allow a limited number of people per hour and there are almost never same-day tickets available on site!

I've been here during th covid times. The green vault was worth seeing, the magnificent exhibits are just breathtaking. What's sad it that you actually see the exhibits that were stolen during the world war. Magnificent and sad at the same time

A very rich collection of jewelry and other items in a beautiful palace design. It is rather correct that voids are left in those places, where treasures lost during WWII. The audio guide is superficial but better than nothing. Preferable to buy tickets in advance, at a time convenient for you. Photographs are prohibited and you cannot buy a photography permit.

Unfortunately, there is not allowed to make photos inside. But you can see pictures on Google Map or in internet. There are 9 halls which are very different, but all of them are very interesting and just fantastic. 3 of the total 9 halls of the Green Vault, which are located on the side of the Palace courtyard, were completely destroyed in February 1945 and then were made again based on photographs and drawings. Entrance is limited, and it is better to buy tickets beforehand. The entrance fee is 14 euros

We went to the 'new green vault' as it has the best parts of the collection. Was very worth while as you spend a few hours inside. The audio guide comes free so don't forget to pick this up as it makes the museum more enjoyable.

Large collection of paintings, covering an amazingly wide range of painters and eras. If you seek to explore all the floors of the Gallery, don't expect to spend less than 3 hours in it! (Here are some of my personal favorites)

The vast collection of arts is beyond imagination. It’ll take a long time to finish the visit. Didn’t know that there is mummy; so it was an exciting visit for me.

The entrance fee is 14 euros as for 10 April 2024 (no matter where you buy it - at the ticket office or online), there were almost no people, we bought tickets very fast, and this ticket is valid for three museums to visit within 1 day: the Picture Gallery, the Porcelain Salon, and the Mathematical-Physical Salon. They are separate building, so you can make breaks for coffee or walks during the visit day. These are the main museum I wanted to visit. You can’t buy a ticket just for the paintings or just for the porcelain salon. The Picture Gallery is large, while the salons are smaller. Practical information: you should scan your ticket to access the gallery’s WC, and the WC is located near the entrance (so you have to return, if needed). There are also two cafes, but they are expensive and have table service. Additionally, all belongings must be stored in a locker. To close the locker, you need to insert a coin of 1 or 2 euros (this is not a payment; you get the money back when you reopen it). However, we only had a card and Polish zloty. We found that 1 złoty perfectly worked instead of 1 euro.

Interesting set of masterpieces. Nice way to categorize them. Place to spend hours. Many Canaletto paintings to compare Dresden.

For art fans, be sure to visit this museum. The works are divided in themes and epochs, which takes you into a dive into history. Tour guides are available. I recommend navigating alone (with a map) and getting to know the history of the works. The exhibition rooms are a special charm. It is worthwhile.

it is a nice gallery if you are really into an art. I personally like to look at pictures but it cannot really appreciate them. I have visited numbers, art, museums but or cannot really make difference between French, German, Italian except maybe the clothing and the facial features. however, you can get a combined ticket for the porcelain gallery and this picture gallery for only 14 euros which I think is great deal.

A wonderful masterpiece of architecture, currently under restoration. The exhibitions there are very beautiful and offer an interesting perspective on the history of the building.

If you find yourself in Dresden, interested in art, and have a few hours this should be on your list. As advertised, old masters. Compact enough not to need all day, but with depth. If you have time, get the audio guide. Unfortunately for us, the famous Vermeer was on loan when we visited, plenty of other fine paintings to feast our eyes on. Don't forget to stop at the gift shop. Well stocked with plenty of excellent text books. There's a cafe also. Thankfully, plenty of spots in the center of the gallery rooms to have a seat. 1.5 to 2.0 hours minimum, but one could stay all day. Enjoy!

I went on a trip to Germany with my school, such a cool art museum. Stood in awe of all of the sculptures and paintings for hours!

Very good Museum. If you love clasical good art - this museum is for you! Wonderful and big collection of Canaletto! Many very good artists exhibited here. You can find here many famous art which you know from the art books.

A large and balanced collection of old European Masters with an emphasis on Flemish and Spanish painters, though Italian Renaissance is also well represented. The Ancient Greek and Roman galleries are small but interesting as well.

This is an incredible Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister in Dresden, where rare and impressive art pieces are preserved. I was amazed by the variety and quality of the exhibits displayed here. Special thanks to the staff and cloakroom attendants who were always friendly and smiling, adding positive emotions to my visit. It was an unforgettable experience that I definitely want to repeat!

If your main goal in the Gallery is the Sistine Madonna, then be prepared for the fact that the painting is covered with bulletproof glass and you will not see much. However, there are a whole lot of wonderful works here: Cranach, Velasquez, Ribera, sculptures and the famous Lyotard "Chocolate Maker". The ticket price is very affordable for a gallery of such level, the presentation is very good, everything is visible and everything is well lit. Recommend.

This is an amazing gallery with vast amounts of masterpieces. There are so many famous paintings, and it’s almost overwhelming! I was here for 3 hours but could have easily spent the whole day if they had a nice cafe inside. "The Sistine Madonna" by Raphael and "Girl reading a letter at an open window" by Vermeer are the highlights in my opinion.

One of the best painting collections in Germany. Covering Dutch, Italian, French, Spain art works. The museum worth a few hours of visit. The ticket covered 3 museums in Zwinger: Old Masters Picture Gallery, the Dresden Porcelain Collection and the Royal Cabinet of Mathematical and Physical Instruments.

We spent nearly four hours in the gallery. It's very big and ghere are lots of paintings and sculptures as well. You have to leave your coats and bag in the cloakroom or in the lockers. You can take your camera with you. Taking a photo or shooting is allowed. There is also a cafe inside in case you get tired or you want to have something to have.

We saw a symphony concert here last week and it was wonderful! Very powerful and moving. Live music played well in this setting was so inspiring! We were so glad to be able to see a live performance in the Semper Opera House while visiting Dresden. It made the visit feel more complete!

The Opera building is also worth a visit because of it rich decorative and numerous architectural merits. It's better to book a tour (with guide only) in advance, especially if you do not speak German. Strongly recommend.

Operahouse in Dresden. You can visit with guided tours or visiting concert or opera. There will be a lo guided tours in english, in German. But you need to buy it advance. Tour itslef was great, there is information, was introduced rooms. Big house but for me was too short.

Magnificent, whilst not going there for an performance, but rather the tour. I was amazed with the history and information the guide provided. Maybe next time in Dresden I'll go for a performance. Such a beautiful building thank god the DDR regime allowed it to be rebuilt to it's original form

Gorgeous building! Visiting here is a must if you are in Dresden. I am sure it would be amazing to see a show here. I recommend going on a guided tour at night. The only disappointing thing is the tour is advertised as "Behind the curtains" but you do not go backstage and cannot even see the stage due to a huge fire-safety door.

Wonderful place to visit, inside was luxurious with a fully of detail. Outside is great and romantic place. The house was made by detail of considering for everything to make a sound more nice. I can sure everyone will feel sense of love in here.

Everything is easy, ticketing is good and seats are easy to find. The seats are not comfortable but you can endure for two hours. We have a good view of the performances, which means if you want to know everything that's going on, you'll have to pay more for a ticket. You have to be very fast for WC especially in pause. The building is wonderful but not as I expected. The exterior of the building is more magnificent.

A very beautiful opera building, but a bit in black tones; there's the exact same building but lighter in Odesa, Ukraine - it looks much nicer. But it's a very beautiful building too, unfortunately I couldn't go to the concert.

This opera house is like concentrated essence of Dresden. There's endless gilt and ceiling paintings and they have a big tassel budget. Operas have surtitles in German and English, the seats are comfortable and sightlines are good. The only slight criticism is that they don't do halftime ice-cream. I feel a little sugar rush is what you need in the interval instead of booze.

My first time in opera and experience was amazing. The building itself is a work of art, the acoustic was extremely good the seats comfortable the ladies at the gardarobe were kind and helpful. Even though we were late they let us in on se second act and we watched from a television the first part of the play

This place is a must see of if you don't see an opera or show. It's exquisite on the inside and you get a tour and the history of it you do need to book time slots due to the tours being available in different languages.

It is a magnificent opera house with beautiful architecture. In the summer, they don't have a lot of concerts or events, so we didn't go inside this time. However, we have seen some ballet and Staatskapelle performances before, and they were truly impressive.

We went to see Hänsel and Gretel …. Very interesting play. A bit new age I wished the focus would have been more on the witch rather the parents and didn’t get what the 7 dwarfs and snowhite plus other fairytale Charakters Place was but overall I loved it. It’s one of the most famous operas and yes they had English and German titles playing . I didn’t need it but very helpful ! Loved it.

We were brought here after dark one weekday evening recently - by the city dungeon keeper! We were on a walking tour to discover the macabre side of this fascinating city. Anyway he brought us up onto the terrace and we had a chance to both gain a wonderful night time view of the river and to listen to the various medieval methods of effecting punishment of the villainous inhabitants of this fair city all those years ago. That evening it was quite busy and it is easy to understand why. The views are fantastic.

Worth to visit any weather and any time, but ''golden hours'' preferable. Take a walk to end of promenade: nice views, Elba, historical buildings, monuments, etc. Be ready for strong winds.

The scenery of Yibai and Liangan is very good.This balcony can watch the water and the scenery.

I have less than 24 hours in Germany, so Dresden is my choice before going back to Czech Rep. As expected, the spots are beautiful and walkable, especially the terrace. Hard to believe they rebuild this place from scratch because of the bombings that took place in the war

This beautiful place stretches high above the bank of the river Elbe. You can go there for free, have a sit, and contemplate that amazing view from "the balcony of Europe". It is close to many other touristic points and the Neumarkt square.

One of the must have attraction in Dresden. Great place to see if you love baroque (architecture, style, paintings, art) or history of 17-18 century, including tremendous amount of original exhibits. Paradoxically a lot of history of Poland, as both Augustus II and his son - Augustus III were not ony electors of Saxony but also Kings of Poland.

Immense and immaculate. There are 4 massive floors filled with exhibitions. All of them are very much worth seeing, so if you like to immerse yourself in a house of art, you should definitely consider spending a whole day here. We went through the museum in about 4,5-5 hours, but by the end we were quite exhausted, but there are lots of places to sit and just be mesmerized - if you have the time. The historical green vault requires separate tickets, and security is quite tight with phones as well!

When Dresden became the permanent residence of the rulers in 1485, the medieval castle was rebuilt into a Renaissance building. In 1530, a representative residential castle was erected at the height of the northern gate. In 1547, the castle was rebuilt in the Renaissance style. After a major fire in 1701, castle was rebuilt in the Baroque style. More rebuilding took place between 1889 and 1901. On the night of February 13/14, 1945, during the allied air raid on Dresden, the castle was bombed and burnt down. The multi-phase reconstruction lasted until 2004, when the castle was made available to visitors. Today, the castle holds a museum complex that contains the Historic and New Green Vault, the Numismatic Cabinet, the Collection of Prints, Drawings and Photographs and the Dresden Armory. It also houses an art library and the management of the Dresden State Art Collections.

Mixed feelings after a family visit today. On the one hand the exhibitions are impressive and way beyond capabilities of family with kids on 1 day but that I consider a big plus. Taking the size and quality of the collection the ticket prices also seem reasonable. A big minus though from a visitor perspective are the security measures: you cannot enter the exhibitions with any type of bag, not even a wallet size one tighten to a belt. That means all documents, money etc you have to carry in your pockets (if you are lucky to have ones) or hands. To some rooms you cannot also take the camera (not only take pictures but even carry one). Finally, the guards are everywhere, breathing to your neck, watching your every step. I never felt so not welcomed in any other European museum and I have been to many. I will still recommend a visit there but will not remember my own one warmly.

Europe is overflowing with museums. This one held its own. Good mix of cool exhibits, and slices of history to accompany them - I felt like I gained a lot of little pieces of context to German pre-1900s history while I was there. There's also dual signs in English and Deutsch, which is great for me. It was one of the strictest museums to get into in terms of bag checks + repeatedly scanning your ticket, but fair enough.

A huge palace with lots of attractions inside and holds one of the richest collections of treasures in Europe. Been once the house of Saxon Electors and Prince, this place hold lots of history and marvellous pieces of art and culture. Make sure you keep atleast 3-4 Hours for a proper visit and exploration of the riches of this castle. The famous green vault, the armour collection, the electoral wardrobe, the firearms gallery, silver weapons hall and many more collections. Highly recommended.

The views were nice especially on the river bank. As it was winter, the lawns and trees were fairly barren and I am sure they would look very nice in spring.

Christmas garden illumination was so pretty. One around tour is about 1 hour course. Nice walking path with fun illumination attractions. There're little stands for little snack and drinks, it's fun to visit. Good for a family walk. Pity that dogs couldn't get in.

We only walked through the garden here and it was great. The magnolia tree that is 250 years old with a removable greenhouse is a sight to see. Also an amazing bakery on site by the parking lot.

The Panometer is an impressive exhibition set in a location which is a little bit far away from Dresden centre but easily accesible by tram and with an ample parking place. You might find there either the Baroque or the World War II exhibition. The exhibition is introduced with different paintings and pictures that provide information about the topic before you visit the Panometer itself. The audio guide provides good information (you can either pick it up there or.hear it in your mobile devices by downloading it from the website). The Panometer itself is quite impressive with a 360 view and a lot of detail. I had the chance of seeing the Baroque and the display of lights, which changed showing different seasons and day/night was quite impressive. All seen from 15 m above the ground. Definitely a good place to visit if you are in Dresden.

Lastly, deeply amazed by how the artist leveraged the gas storage building that’s no longer in use as the perfect location to show the artwork!

After 259 steps you are rewarded with an a mazing view of the Dresen. The view is extra magical during the Xmas season when you get an overview of the Christmas market. I would recommend visiting after sunset if you plan to see the xmas market. The steps are relatively easy but the higher you go the narrower the staircase gets so might not be for those who are claustrophobic.

An unusual exhibition in a unique location - for those interested in how Dresden's architecture and spirit have been shaped throughout history, "Baroque" is definitely worth a visit. Walked over 1hr from the old town to get here and see the 360° view of Dresden pre and post 1945. Checked to make sure it was open on Monday. Paid the €14 entry fee and headed inside. Was greeted with a exhibition on the Amazon, and went into a large room with a projection of the Amazon rain forest with various animal noises. There was a central platform to climb to look at the projection from a higher point. Not particularly impressed on any level, left that to go find the Dresdon display I came to see. Watched a short film about war and the development of the city of Dresden. Was quite interesting and now I was excited to see the projection. I carried on the tour and came to the cafe and shop and then the exit. Thought I must have missed a turn. Went back through again and no I didn't, asked at the ticket counter and was told the Dresden display finished last week! I asked for a refund, €14 was way overpriced for what is there and was of no interest to me. I don't understand why visitors to Dresden would want to see a 360 on the Amazon! Anyway they kindly refunded my entrance fee. So word of warning before you go check what is being exhibited! 😀 Shame I was really looking forward to seeing the aftermath of the bombing.

Hands down one of the best museums I have visited. We were able to leave our luggage at the cloakroom (there are also lockers) where it is staffed. Tickets cost €5 for adults which I think is underpriced for whats offered. The museum is generally separated into two parts. One part which chronologically shows the events before, during and after the world wars. The other part dives into more general topics such as the technology, animals, memories of war. The top floor is a viewing platform which gives you an amazing view of Dresden and provide some information of the bombing in 1945. Throughout the museum, there are staff located on each floor who you can ask questions to regarding the exhibits. They are very knowledgeable and makes understanding what is displayed a lot easier. The museum itself is huge and consist of 4 floors and also some tanks, cars, and vessels on the ground floor for viewing. I would definitely recommend reserving at least three hours to see everything. Although I came for the Christmas markets I would say this museum is a must visit for everyone visiting Dresden. You can easily reach the museum with trams 3, 7 from the city centre.

Good place to spend the day even with younger ones. Family ticket 7 eur. Great collection of military equipment and vehicles. A bit of a pity that the restaurant isn't working anymore , so take something with you or eat before. Free parking on premises by the way

Museum has a great deal of historical information, personal artifacts, photos, etc. Most of the descriptions are posted very low, on the floor, or in positions difficult to read. (Had a neck ache after 3 hours there) Everything is posted in German and English. Layout is peculiar for such a large building. Some displays are crammed together with huge empty spaces around them. Tanks are showcased outdoors. I would not recommended museum for children, people under 5'7" (won't be able to see horizontal displays/descriptions) or persons with disabilities.

Great museum. So much to see and very cool if you are interested in military history. The museum covers quite a long period of military history, not just WWII. Plan at least 2-3 hours if you really want to see everything even just briefly. Price is also not bad for the amount of history on display.

Very beautiful museum building and grounds. Nice collection of tanks, armour and guns outside too. Staff is very helpfull and very polite, such a difference compared to their Berlin-Gatow location.

It is a very amazing museum but it need more than an hour to explore its diverse history. The exhibition goes back to 1300 to today. You feel like you went back in time.

Simply an outstanding collection of warfare artefacts! Also, the kind of specimens they have from collection of real tanks, are simply astounding! ❤🙃

Definitely worth a visit! If you want to see everything in details, planning at least 3 hours for the visit will be necessary. It is really a big museum with 4 floors and a lot of things to see.

The Dresden Museum is Germany’s largest Military Museum. It has a corridor prior to 1914 (WWI) 1914-1945 (WWI & WWII) 1945 to Present. This museum is for the Historical Enthusiast. There is English translation throughout the museum.

I read some other reviews and yes. It is an Incredible museus. I just wish I had more time as I was only able to see the chronological part( the difference wars) and I couldn't check othe other galleries Neither the collection of vehicles outside the museums and the other building dedicated to the cols war. You need at least 3 hours for this museum. I think if you like history, technology or both. Make yourself a favour and cone and check it out.

Was there to see the exterior architecture but was stunned by the display of armoured vehicles and military tanks, even ships and helicopters outside the building as a free display. Must visit if you're a FPS fanatic.

Was pretty quiet when we visited on a Monday afternoon so no queue or crowds at all. The exhibits are divided by time period but I wish there was a more specified order/guide within each gallery which probably would have helped with my understanding of the sequence of events and their contexts (although that might just be a me-problem haha). The architecture of the building is stunning and I loved that you could walk out onto the metal platform and get such an amazing view of the city. The collection itself was also incredibly interesting and in good condition. Unfortunately we didn’t manage to see everything we wanted to, as halfway the lights started to flicker/go out and we were told to leave without so much as an explanation, apology, or a chance to use our tickets on another day, so that was rather disappointing. Particularly considering there were barely anyone else in the museum and we were left walking around in semi-darkness, wondering what was going on for a good ten minutes before we had to ask a staff member about it. Even then we weren’t told why, just that we had to leave. Would’ve been 5 stars otherwise :(

Arguably the greatest military history museum I’ve ever been to. Starting with the decommissioned military vehicles (tanks, boats, jets, helicopters & troop transporters) outside, absolute gems. Inside they’ve got 4 levels of genuine artefacts all meticulously dated, labeled and described in both German & English. I’d recommend putting aside a whole day for this wonderful building if you really want to immerse yourself in the history. The team at this museum are serious about everything Military History with an emphasis on German & Soviet aspects. Entry is only €5 for the main exhibition which will easily entertain the most avid enthusiasts for hours on end, not to mention they have a free evening session from 6-9pm on Mondays.

I was there to early to go inside, but even outside is nice piece of army vehicles. Need to come back to see what is inside. Definitely worth to visit if you are around. And the carpark on the street in free so no worries.

Highly recommended museum, fair entrance fee. It's big, and includes many historical war object, pictures, statues and more. It's a great opportunity for taking a lots of good pictures. The place is clean and well maintained.
