Amazing place to visit during Christmas season. Beautiful vibes, nice decorations, yummy food and games for adults and kids. Moreover, the architecture of the buildings is spectacular. I highly recommend this place.

The very heart of Lille and does not disappoint. The eclectic mix of building styles actually makes the Grand Place unique and interesting. I had a lovely meal at President brasserie on the Grand Place who accepts solo diners.

Très belle place . The Grand Place of Lille is wonderful, especially in summer. It is very clean and filled with numerous restaurants and cafés. It is definitely a must-visit place in Lille.

Atmosphere where you feel relaxed and living like in a different world

Very beautiful, the beggars can be annoying, don't give them anything and pay attention to your bag cause they can have one sneak behind you to steal stuff from your bags. Otherwise enjoy this place.

Lille’s biggest square where you can find the goddess statue, the vielle bourse, the theatre alongside different restaurants. This place is vivid and full of people.

Grand Place General Charles de Gaulle Square is historically the central square of the city of Lille and houses the largest market in the area. Nice architecture, with many beautiful buildings around it. Cobbled streets that lead you to discover the magic that is hidden in the adjacent streets and the smallest alleys.

Nice zoo with not too much variety of animals. Feel like they have more birds but I am not too into them. It would be perfect for a day out with the children, as I saw mostly family with babies and toddlers there. Without the Lille city pass, it's only 4.5e for adult fee, which was worth it.

Small but nice zoo. We went in the morning so it wasn't too crowded. But I guess the monkeys were still sleeping. The entrance is €4.5. 25 minute walk from the city center/train station. Good activity to do on a Sunday in Lille.

A nice city zoo that is smaller than the landscaping would make you think. There were several areas under renovation on the day of our visit, but a nice way to spend an afternoon in Lille. There is no beer in the bar area, but not a major issue, I am assured the pineapple ice cream is amazing, there was none to share...

Small zoo with reasonable pricing and lots of animals to see! We particularly enjoyed the red pandas and the giant tortoises :) The enclosures had good information on the signs in English and in French, and the layout of the zoo was easy to understand even without a map. We liked how a lot of the habitats had more than one animal in! Only four stars as some of the enclosures felt very small (arctic foxes and fennec foxes in particular) and some felt a little unclean - stagnant dirty water surrounding the monkeys, for example. Of course, the monkeys don't swim in it, but it wasn't particularly pleasant to walk past as a guest. We still had a good time though, and we'll be coming back!

A nice little zoo with a good variety of animals (reptiles, birds and mammals) to keep the kids entertained. Takes about an hour to walk through (9 and 10 y/o walking pace). No pet dogs are permitted at the zoo.

A great little zoo with a wide variety of animals for its size. There is a small shop for refreshments half way round. We spend 4 hours here but you only really need 2/2.5 to see everything leisurely. The entrance fee was very cheap €6 each and we didn’t have to queue although when we left a long queue had formed so I suggest going earlier in the day. The animals seemed to have ample space and well looked after.

A great variety of exotic animals, I expected to find white and black pandas but there's was a different type of pandas the one in the image. Check the map to see all sorts of animals available in the Zoo. Your visit should last at least 1 hour and a half so you can see all the sites. For the tickets we paid 6 euros for adults and 4 euros of you have kids. Recommended for families, kids and groups

Lovely little zoo located near the centre of Lille, in an island where the citadel is. We bought our tickets at the door. The highlights for us were the Rhinos and the monkeys.

Good for a quick trip to see some great animals in an afternoon or morning. Food and drink reasonably priced. Facilities were clean. Entry price was reasonable. A little bit difficult to find at first in the middle of a park- it would be useful for more signs to direct you to the entrance.

I visited on a weekday, but even though it was during summer holidays, the zoo was relatively empty. I enjoyed the quiet atmosphere, though, and it was relaxing to stroll through leisurely. I enjoyed the wide variety of animals they had, and I was also glad because enclosures seemed large enough and organically designed. I was unaware before I visited, but this zoo also has my favorite animal, the Manul/Pallas cat!! It pretty much made my day

The animals there looked safe and like they actually take good care of them. Except the fact that the kids are actually disturbing them with loud noises and trying to get the animals' attention, this is a good place to visit.

I absolutely recommend it. There are some animals up close! One important fact is the animals look good. The tiny ones such reptiles and little birds have small spaces. You can enter a habitat with large birds, and the the primates part is lovely, I recommend you wait and see the charming way of Gibbons walk 🐒 ✨

Very nice zoo for families. Most Important: they have a selection of animals we have not Met anywhere else. That’s probably the best reason to go there. 15€ for a family of 4 is very ok. Takes you about 1.5 hours to cover everthing.

What a great zoo. At €6 it's a steal. The ground beef bird was sensational, what a character. And don't get me started on the Superb Starling. Unmissable. It certainly lives up to it's name. We saw the biggest ducks I've ever seen. The gibbons were very active. A great day out for brachiation fans.

It's a small zoo. But well maintained and price is reasonable. Close to the zoo there is also good playground with some extras for the kids. Parking is big. We paid 6 euro for around 4 hours.

We really enjoyed the atmosphere here. The building is beautiful inside and out. Some of the paintings are huge and we love the relief room. It was really nice to see students drawing around the building. Plenty of interesting and unique sculptures.

Amazing building and some interesting paintings. For me, the most interesting was the city plans in the basement... Amazing detail. There are 14 city plans, I guess the precursor to Google maps, but done with astonishing detail and accuracy.

I love this collection in Lille and try to visit whenever we're in town. There are good collections of middle age, early modern, XII, XIII and XIX art with also some interesting XX work. There is a significant sculpture hall and a hall of decorative arts, mostly ceramics. Interestingly in the basement are large scale 3d maps of frontier towns that I assume were for XII, XIII and XIX military planning. There's also a neat cafe on site so you can rest your legs!

Exhibition was really impressive. Connection between art and games/digital world also was really interesting. I’ve spent about an hour there with my friends and we really enjoyed it.

Lovely visit with a limited number of other people there. We visited early and spent approximately 3 hours in the building. Lots to see and marvel at. Only criticism is the slightly chaotic signage which doesn't let the visit flow.

Headphones which you can listen about the items are out because of COVID. Which is understandable. But every museum offers a replacement (a booklet, an app, a mobile website etc) but Palais des Beaux Arts does not. There's no translation of any signs, so if you don't know French don't bother visiting because you'll not get any additional information.

Amazing museum! Specially on the I was astounded by the relief maps! Strongly recommend to visit and have at least 3 hours to visit.

We visited on Sunday, first Sundays of month, museums are free,we waited 15 min to enter but it is very interesting , good work of arts you can see.

The museum is quite interesting incorporating video games as part of its main collection. I love the Impressionist collection that the museum has. The sculptures are quite amazing as well. A video mapping in the lower level restoring the samples of the actual sculptures are very entertaining to watch as well.

Honestly. Only entered this building because I need led to defecate. Which in itself was well worth the entry price, but I digress. After exiting the toilets, found the gallery to be rather enjoyable. With several exhibits that were truly notable and worthy of the entry price in their own right. Anyway, whether in need of an epic dump or not, this is well worth a visit, even if you only have a passing interest in “art”.

Enjoyable afternoon visiting here. The current exhibition of computer game design, linking it to the rest of the exhibits is very clever and helps make the design process of a game, and the study of historic art very relevant. Worth a visit before it's gone.

Excellent museum in the heart of Lille that comprises several floors, unfortunately, due to the lack of time, I was only able to see the sculptures and pottery and the paintings. However, it was a great experience because the quality of the art is astounding. Here you will find works by Rubens, Goya, Monet and Ribera, among many others, apart from pottery from the most important porcelain factories in Europe, such as Meissen or Delft. An unmissable visit if you're in Lille. Highly recommend!

What beautiful Flemish architecture in the Old Town Lille. A must visit for any visitor to the city. There are plenty of coffee shops and retail shops around.

Beautiful place to go by your own or to meet your friends. The atmosphere is amazing as you will see people walking by, meeting each other, dining around the cafe, some street performers and also some less fortunate ones. Looks really beautiful with the lights at night where you can just relax and feel the cool breeze.

It is the old stock exchange building with beautiful and unique architecture located right in front of the opera building in the square. Today it is used for eating and shopping purposes.

An amazing historic place that used to be a stock exchange. In the arched courtyard surrounded by little houses you can buy items of interest (posters/books/music disks etc.). But what truly makes this place amazing in my opinion is the chess community that you can encounter in the mid afternoon that fills the atmosphere with unique ambience!

The old stock exchange (former building of the Lille Chamber of Commerce and Industry) is a very interesting building near the Grand Place. In the courtyard inside, there is a market selling second-hand books, old posters, toys, etc. Worth a look, it gets very busy on weekends and holidays.

A book market is held in the court of the red building. The architecture is very amazing and the atmosphere was quite nice

Small market for prints and old books. It has a wonderful atmosphere and very chic to walk around. Prints are about €8 each. Highly recommended.

Lille is a lovely place to visit, great looking architecture and plenty of bars and shops.

Serves as a cultural hub and a popular spot for locals and tourists alike. Its courtyard often hosts book markets, art exhibitions.. etc. The ornate decorations, intricate arches, and detailed sculptures make it a picturesque destination for anyone interested in history and architecture.

Nice city and nice square for one day to visit

There are some very beautiful buildings around the area. Lille is a cute and small city. Those who live here call it a mini Paris. I liked being there. You need one day to visit the important points of interest and there is no real need to spend a night here. I strongly suggest a walking tour.

Must seen destination in Lille , especially if you’re a book lover

the building has an excellent special atmo. it changes hour by hour. Daylight brings antiques book lovers here - meanwhile the evening -sometimes - for the dancers who love bachata or samba ! this is an ever changing place. when You come, You will find events!

This cathedral is big and different. The style you will encounter is gothic and to be honest it did not excite me too much. After the destruction suffered by the war, the restoration that took place was a failure for me (externally) in the interior, some of the old parts of the temple have remained, but it is still a little .... different, I would say. There are also crypts in the ministry of the temple, but unfortunately when we visited it they were closed.

This cathedral is like the French smalltown version of La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona. A cathedral in name, but not spirit, under construction for an incredibly long time and with a jarring mix of architectural styles that don't work well together. Like someone couldn't quite decide what they wanted it to look like. Apparently, part of this building was destroyed during the war and has been under construction/renovation since, until the late 90s when they added the positively awful façade that so many people dislike. It reminded me of 20th-century Anglican churches in England. In a sense, it would be important not to judge a book by its cover, because yes, the exterior is pretty ugly. But inside is interesting with nice light, and much more neo-Gothic architecture and style. The chapel is the prettiest section. Interestingly, and possibly weird, is the addition of modern art sprinkled sporadically around and very odd lighting choices (neon red is certainly a peculiar artistic choice). It's not very cohesive, so if you are looking for a traditional French cathedral, it's best to look elsewhere. But if you want something a little different, the interior is worth a look. And you have to love Jeanne d'Arc having such a prominent statue. It is not very big and won't take a great deal of time to explore. If you have nothing else to do or are just wandering in the area, I would suggest a peek inside, but I don't think it's worth a special trip just to see it.

A delightful cathedral whose architectural and artistic styles stretch from gothic to contemporary. One is able to look inside as a tourist for free. There is a welcoming feel. The interior, like the exterior, demonstrates the mixture of styles that the church has witnessed through the centuries.

Surprisingly basic but beautiful. Concrete pillars. No music playing however you could imagine strong sounds coming from the multi tiered organ pipes.

It’s very nice inside and out. I’m not a fan of the front renovation but oh well.

Impressive temple with incredible vitraux windows. We were in Lille for a day so we had to visit Notre Dame de la Treille cathedral. The outside is not your typical xatholic temple style, but it's nice! The inside was beautiful and the vitraux windows are amazing! Definitely worth a visit while in Lille!

A very beautiful and different cathedral to visit. I have been in several cathedral during the years but this specific one was totally different. You can see modern art inside of it instead of the classic cold statues. Very beautiful vitros and in general a very interesting visit. It wasn’t cold inside and the place was maintained very well.

Nice cathedral, a mix of modern and gothic style. The inside is impressive, particularly when lit by the sun through the stained glass windows. Useful information boards in French and English. Free entry and well worth a visit.

For me personally whilst not the most attractive from the exterior having been modernised in parts, even so this does not distract from it being a place of wonderful enchantment and worship. To enter is free although there are points to make donations of which I would encourage. The interior is most impressive and one of the most beautiful gothic cathedrals I’ve visited. We visited both in the evening and then again during the day light to see daylight streaming through the stunning stained glass windows. A must see when visiting Lille.

It is a really nice museum. The temporary exhibitions were the main attraction. They also spoke English, which was a big +. It is a bit far away, so you need to take either a bus and metro, or a car.

The LaM museum near Lille 🇫🇷 is amazing. Also the exhibition ‘Paul Klee - Betweens two worlds’ that makes us (re)discover the art of Paul Klee from an angle as intimate as it is fascinating.

Okay, this has some 'big hitters' Picasso, Braque, etc. But the really interesting thing is the story of Art Brut, which is explained during the exhibition of the permanent collection. I didn't get it all, but isn't that the point? Be warned though, some pictures in the museum contain ladies breasts, uncovered. Google won't allow me to show images of these and if these will offend you probably best not to go. It is well worth a visit but both the Palais in Lille and the Piscine in Roubaix are more accessible in multiple senses.

Beautiful park, very small collection of modern art. The art brut collection is worth seeing. Go when the weather is nice.

Very friendly service, but when I went there for the second time, part of the exhibition hall was being renovated. I hope you can give free tickets for students majoring in design, not limited to art students. Although different museums have different regulations, if more students can be free of tickets, perhaps students will be more willing to enjoy art and consumption.😁

Very nice museum, I saw Nogushi exhibition, retrospectiv, and I must say I discovered an artist, though I don't like much of his work;, anyway nice presentation, worth seeing! The permanent collection shows contemporary works from famous artists, or "art brut" less known ones. Nice shop, nice café, garden.. All in all you can enjoy a full afternoon forgetting the ordinary life..

Wonderful exhibition space. Good permanent exhibits. Saw the I Noguchi exhibition. Fantastic. Lovely cafe too. Easy to get to from Lille centre.

We were out of season so only permanent collection open. Slightly disconcerting that you need to take the metro and a bus to get there- but view it as preparation for the artistic feast that awaits you. I enjoyed the Leger and of course the Modigliani and the Alexander Calder mobile in the grounds. Visit the cafe - we had an excellent fish and coconut curry

Very nice experience in Lille on a hot day. Calm and not too many people. There's a restaurant that we ignored. We visited the permanent exhibition only which was very impressive. There are lockers for your stuff.

A very limited permanent collection with little in the way of curation makes this a non-essential visit. Unfortunately, upon visiting, two temporary exhibitions were not on which greatly impacted the visit. There were some respected artists (Picasso, Leger, Braques) but that doesn’t make a great museum. Café was very respectable and had a nice outdoor space. The gardens — which are free to enter — are the best part of the entire visit, with some fantastic sculptures on display. For a museum that’s not in the city centre, I would not recommend as an essential unless you had a particular interest in either the gardens or any temporary exhibitions.

Nice stadium, England just won the game against Samoa during the France Rugby World Cup 2023. No bed bugs spotted during the visit. Food lines went fast, beer was good. Overall a great experience at the stadium. Only issue might have been was the long lines to toilets.

Nice stadium. The workers were very nice. The food was good. The atmosphere was great. The facilities were clean and sufficient. Booking tickets was easy and cheap. The weather wasn't good but they can't help that. Unfortunately I've learnt they play rugby here too which almost caused me to take a star off.

Lovely and big stadium . We visited here to see the Euro cup match between Germany vs Ukraine. Atmosphere was incredible.

Great stadium, good seats and views. Would remain dry if raining. Lots of bars and not too bad to get a drink when busy. Plenty of toilets. Entry was easy, but allow enough time. Only downside was the metro on the way back. They did not account for the influx of people and was extremely unorganised and could have ended very differently/badly on another day.

Regular off the shelf modern stadium, but with good acoustics and optimized entry ways. Definitely a good place for concerts and is embedded in an area with fast food restaurants which is good for before and after an event. Can be reached on foot from the center of Lille in about an hour.

Security staff acting as "Fun Police"🙄 - we were on the back row of the stadium, we were dancing near to our seat, we were not blocking anyone's view, we were not blocking any exits & yet we were asked to move🤔. The seats are for really small people 😒- partly we chose to stand up, we were at a music gig, clearly you're not supposed to show you are enjoying yourself 😆!! The doors at the back were forever being opened /closed🚪🚪, the draft was pretty cold even on a warm May evening. Further security staff wandered around the back chatting as they walked, oblivious to the audience who may not care about their conversation-- but want to hear them but the artist they have paid to see. On the plus side entry to the venue was easy & staff were especially helpful & it was a fuss free entry - thank you😘😘

French only venue . Xenophobic / Unprofessional staff who don’t give care about visiting fans. Would give a 0 star if I could . In our stand we had 1 choice of food. Hotdogs or nothing at all. No alcohol served for visiting fans - which isn’t that bad if it was actually communicated to people - 0 information until you get to the till and work it out for yourself. Beyond the food and drink, they do not even bother to organise visiting fans so people ended up sitting anywhere and everywhere. They send you on a while goose chase when you ask where you’re supposed to go (because it ain’t that clear) Then they confiscate portable chargers (senseless) when they’re super important for visiting fans because we need our phones to work not just generally but to get back to our hotel etc. Worse, after the game they lose our cables and items that we gave them. The solution is a shrug of the shoulders with ‘ I’m sorry other people took yours ‘ I am sorry but if I handed it to you (which tbh the security guard just grabbed it off me and handed it to the security meant for confiscation because manners don’t exist in France) - then it’s your responsibility to keep it safe so I could pick it up with my ticket later. Atrocious service - so unfriendly to tourist - barely any food / drinks options and they lose your possession.

We loved this stadium. Parking close to the stadium and enough places for food. Really well organised. Atmosphere in the stadium is tremendous. Here for the rugby so hope football fans have the same experience

Went during the RWC 2023, first time was the England vs Chile game - going again the the Samoa game and one more. Nice stadium with ample parking if you need. Plenty of bars close buy that offer dinks and meals. Staff very helpful, I am on crutches and offered a fast track which does help. Beers are not cheap at 10 euros - but this is the same for other stadiums we have been to during the RWC. Seating not to bad as seats go in stadia and the view we had was very good. Looking forward to this weekends 2 games we are there for.

Amazing venue, fantastic atmosphere with loads of food, drinks and entertainment. We managed to get into the stadium quick enough despite the lengthy queues and had no issues getting out

Fantastic venue for a concert. It's very cosy, and the stage is not too high. Price for drinks is a bit high, and strict no-cap policy makes it harder to enjoy yourself. The toilets aren't the cleanest.

The good; The stadium was good. Seats are excellent and entry to the ground easy. The bad: food and drinks a tad expensive and charged a deposit on plastic cups. The bars promptly closed when the final whistle blew leaving no place to return them. A joke? They probably cost very little to produce and the stadium must be making a fortune. The worst: metro station extremely crowded (worryingly so) on the way out. Station staff appeared to think that tape would be sufficient to hold back 30,000 people. Jostled and queued for an hour and a half before getting on the metro. Very poorly organised and could have ended badly with a couple of surges as the crowd pushed the tape aside.

Lovely stadium and is very different to anything I've ever seen before. We felt very safe in and around the stadium as there were a lot of police and security and everyone got checked. Very modern stadium inside and out. Well worth going to watch a football match at Lille.

A huge library of 7 floors where you can find a wide variety of books about different topics (from classics to comics, from medicine to magazines), there also is a space where you can go and read. You can also find stationary products, cards or even a souvenir of Lille.

French Barnes and Nobles. Crowded, but the selection of books, games, and related stuff is unmatched. The probability of entering and buying something is very high...

Huge bookstore and if you are French reading, you should be able to find everything you need. Compared to other shops, they do have English books, but don't get your hopes up. Based on the comments here I was hoping to find English translated French comics, but no luck.

Many floors full of all kinds of books. They was also an office section with notebooks and school supplies. Great selection of items.

Loved the smell of books. Thanks for the service you guys bring and loads of books on display. I got my favourite English reads, from the Crime section. Everything orderly arranged, with a neat setup which is helful when finding specific books from specific genres. Good work people!!

Great selection and the staff is friendly and helpful

First I want to say that workers there are so respectful and helpful, they really know what you are looking for. Second what I loved is the large pool of prices for the same product so you can an elegant pen for 20 euros or for an astonishing 2000 euros. Really big library many items: regional, national and international nice going guys.

Gigantic, beautiful, modern and complete. A dream of a bookstore for any major metropolis, let alone a mid-sized city like Lille! Truly impressive. The only downside, really, is that the selection of foreign-language books could be more diverse in terms of languages.

Really awesome bookstore that's located in the heart of Lille. From the outside, you would never guess just how big it is on the inside. It has pretty much everything that you could think of and more. Highly recommend to visit even if you're not looking to buy anything. Yes, the experience is that good!

Just a little (read: "lot") disappointed that we couldn't come inside and see more. The surroundings are great, however! A total esacapade from the city madness. The "organic landscaping service" gave me a huge chuckle. I think we stayed playing with the sheep the whole time there 🙂

Cannot go into the Citadel which we didnt know and was hard to check without knowing french on the official website before walking 20 mins from the center. However the park around it was peaceful and the nature was just beautiful. A plus is that it's a few walks to the zoo and the spring fair.

Nice place for a walk. Lots of green. You can take your kids in a small zoo or roller-coaster which is located in this area too or rent a boat and go for a short trip.

Gorgeous place. Very glad we visited. Has a zoo on one side and even a little amusement park. You cannot enter the citadel though. I believe it's still an active military installation of some sort. But you can walk all around the outside, which is beautifully landscaped and has lots of interesting architecture.

It is a beautiful landmark with a nice green parking environment but unfortunately it is not open to publicity. There were no indications or warnings until we were orally told that it's not possible to go beyond a point.

The main Citadelle itself cannot be entered as it is in military use but the area around it really is Lille's green oasis and a place of serenity.

Nice for a quick break from the city centre. You can have nature walks around the citadel, there are animals and a playground for kids. Not much going on in winter; it’s probably more enjoyable in sunny weather. A pity you can’t visit the inside quarters, though the organisation offers occasional group visits that go inside.
