Beautiful street but on our visit, our group bought little but all were ready! Did not find it reminiscent of Paris fashion district however it is beautiful and found a few interesting items.

Cours Mirabeau is miraculously beautiful with maple trees on either sides keeping shades while you traverse from king Réné’s statue until the rotonde fountain. Along with king’s statue fountain, there are two other fountain on two crossings on the cours Mirabeau. One is the thermal stream and other one is 9 fountains. The water still comes from Mont St Victoire. Cours Mirabeau is the most important place of Aix. With lots of stone benches, restaurants, cinema halls, utility shops and street performer; this corridor is an experience in itself.

This is the Aix version of Times Square. Though picturesque, nothing notable lives on the street. The restaurants all looked middling, the shops chains. The Saturday market was a disappointment as it largely sold cheap clothing. I did hope for more local goods and antiques.

Such a disappointment. Whilst a beautiful place which does come to life when a morning or evening market is around, the place has lost its shine. What was once a stand out street just a few years ago full of authentic Provençal restaus and cafes is now almost entirely faceless and personality-less pizzerias. And sadly not the type you find in Italy! Sub par food, over the odds prices, and poor service

I have lived in this city for 16 years, lovely city and rich in history and culture.

The museum hosts lots of different exhibitions throughout the year. I visited the one dedicated to Mucha and his artworks. I was really impressed. The building itself is unique. There you can find a tea salon decorated with old furniture. The facility of the museum is modern. Your visit may be accompanied with an audioguide. I recommend buying tickets in advance.

Not only a beautiful museum but also an amazing cafe and a must visit. It is beautiful inside and you must go outside to see the manicured gardens. The interior was well appointed with beautiful furniture and colours to match. The menu is varied, from French cuisine to an Asian inspired salad. Today I had a coke zero and the Plat de jour, Risotto with fois gros and perfectly cooked duck for 22€. The wine and drinks list was extensive and they serve local Rose. The staff were helpful and knowledgeable and very attentive. The service was quick even during the peak lunch time rush.

Located just south of Cour Mirabeau, the Hotel de Caumont is actually a museum (don't be confused by the preface "hotel" which just means home). In this case, the home was owned by an aristocratic family in pre-revolutionary France and the owners have an interesting history interconnected with European royalty. The building is beautifully restored as are the surrounding grounds and the small garden. Inside, the first two rooms (music room and bedroom) are equally exquisite. But that is all there is to see of that ornately decorated period. Following those rooms was an exhibit on a totally tangentially related artist called Yves Klein who was a post-modern "blue" artist. Very inconsistent with the setting. For the cost of 14.50 Euro per visitor I do not think it is worth it...or at least if you are not as interested in Yves Klein. We would have loved to have seen more of the beautifully restored 18th century rooms instead.

Beautiful place, but the visit depends a lot on the current exhibition. They have a lovely cafe, with rich decoration and different wallpapers for each room. Oh and such a beautiful little garden! I do think the entry is a bit expensive, 14 euros per person.

A beautiful mansion, with gardens that are just as beautiful, that hosts art exhibitions. With the tix you get an audio guide, so a pretty good value.

Up to now, since it's opening, all the exhibitions I had the joy to visit have been a wonderful time. It's a place I highly recommend you visit this museum. 👍😍🤩

Excellent small museum in a beautiful building. The Guggenheim collection was perfectly presented. The light, the explanations (both in French and English), the arrangements were excellent. Nice museum shop. There is a classic French restaurant that looked very good although we have not tried.

A great stop for local antiques and culture. Beautiful collection and a welcoming staff happy to explain and guide you. A unique experience and you'll only need <45 minutes.

Not a lot to see but if it's hot outside this is definitely a good place to hide in the cool walls and see some old maps and pupets.

Not much to see anyway, but beware the "lady" at the front desk. She demanded I pay cash only and charged 5€ extra. When I asked for the change she simply ignored...

Very small but with some nice children's puppet shows from several centuries back. It is open from 10 but is closed at lunch.

Nice museum. You have to ring at "musee" to get in, though. They have great resources for walking tours of the city, too.

We recently visited,we can easily visit this place with @google maps help. You can take help of local transportation as well but if u wish to take walk it hardly 10 minutes walk from main city centre. Cost 5 💶 +1 Europe if you want to visit one more place which is just 5 minutes of walk. It is clean and you need to wear mask 😷 and health pass is mandatory (if you are Indian and you had taken 2 dose that certificate is valid). They have audio guide were you can select multiple languages and understand that. They had security guards also if need you can ask them also but for better understanding prefer audio guide. It will cost 3 euro💶 per place. So total 6 euro for both. It is little heavy on your pocket bt if you have interest then worth spending. If you are a person who have interest in art, history then this is a go to place. Duration can be 2 hours if you go into details.

Your €6.50 ticket gives you access to two art galleries, the Musee Granet and the Collection Jean Planque, which is a 5 minute walk away. The Musee Granet will take around 30-40 minutes to wander round. It has a mix of paintings (including from Cezanne, Granet) and sculpture across three floors. Most information is in french, though audio guides are available. There is also a museum shop and toilet. You will be required to leave your bag in a locker (free).

A great museum, quite small, therefore you can see everything really fast. Also, you can buy tickets there, they are very cheap 8€ per adult. Under 18’s enter for free.

They have an excellent collection of sculptures. The rest of the museum didn't impress me so much (including the temporary Hockney exhibition). It's still worth a visit while in Aix.

At the time of our visit, there were a few different exhibitions happening at the museum; David Hockney, Collections de Cézanne á Giacometti, Archéologie Site d’Entremont, Collections du XIVe au XVIIIe Archéologie, Collection Jean Planque (aka Picasso aka my favourite exhibition here!). The ticket included access to all the exhibitions so it was a great value.

Well worth to visit the museum with big collection of Granet paintings, as well Cezannes and some of Picasso and other famous painters. There is also part with some older artefacts from Egyptian times, and with the same ticket you can visit other part of the galery set in a ex church. Nice to see some of Dalis work...

Did not see at its best as many rooms were closed due to the end of the Egyptian exhibition. Whatever you do do not miss the Annexe housing the Planque donation. Truly stunning.

It was a nice museum with some beautiful paintings and sculptures .. However my goal of visiting was to see the temporary Egyptian Exibition .. It has very beautiful pieces of Egyptian Art but the most inspiring for me was the Lizard's mummy which is believed to be the only one of its kind in the world .. I'm Egyptian and was happy to see such thing for the first time .. The ticket to this museum gives access to a nearby smaller art Museum as well ..

A lovely space to visit and truly enjoy the place where Cezanne painted. Only a short (but slightly uphill) walk from Aix. Best to book your times lot on line and pay for it in case you visit during peak tourist seasons/times. 30 Mins in his studio is more than enough to read through the information, appreciate the history and have a look at what he left behind.

It’s a pretty location for a visit, the studio is just one small room but there’s a cool garden

Number of visitors is restricted as the 1st floor is not very spacious. Did not wait to enter as I was alone but might be something to consider and book in advance if you are a big group. You’ll only visit 1 floor (expected a bit more) however, there are lots of information shared and it’s quite impressive to be in that room and see all the decoration and visuals. Also nice to walk around the small garden.

Really cool experience, nice to see some of Cezanne's possessions left as they were 100 years ago. If you're familiar with his art you'll immediately recognise many objects in the room. Be aware that this is just one room, and the price is €6.50, also there are specific slots the enter as only 24 people can enter at a time. But you can stroll around the garden while you wait. There's tons of information available and I learnt a lot about the studio, the art and the artist.

Really good chance to view the studio as he left it. It's just one room with some gardens, there's a shop as well as a video to watch too. Beware though, don't book the last session of the day, we were rushed out at 6pm once the 530 session had ended. The shop closed at 540 and the video was switched off at about 602! So we had no time to go to the shop or get a drink or spend any time in the garden.

Well-preserved studio of Cezanne. You feel as if the Master himself is going to appear anytime. Charming setting, and all the familiar objects from his famous still life paintings are still there.

I studied Cézanne in school but seeing live where the master worked and used his tools to create art was really cool. His whole house is a work of art for how it is set up and I must say that the idea of ​​setting up the exhibition like this was clever. Good explanation of all his life with audio guides or with a practical booklet, the local guides are available for any question, very kind. I recommend you a visit here because it's a must for this type of artist. 👍

Tickets were sold out because there was a big group visiting on the day of our visit. However, there was a movie about Cézanne we got to watch for free and we also got to explore the beautiful gardens.

The single restroom was disgusting, no light and no seat. Garden is not very well maintained either. Studio is cute. Big disappointment. International tourists, it is not a must-see under current direction.

I really wanted to see Cezanne's studio. With an extraordinary collection of his objects, I imagined the time when this great artist created extraordinary works that we can admire today. My favorite painter. Ticket 6.5 € Entrance hour 14:30

Unfortunately we did not get to visit the inside because you need to make a reservation in advance. The outside was still nice though. You can get a glimpse of the atelier from the back of the house. And if you go to the first floor you still see the really nice view of Aix that Cezanne would also see.

A beautifully kept cathedral in centre ville Aix en Provence. It is still in operation with services. Beautiful stained glass windows provide amazing colors inside the cathedral. A must visit if you are going to Aix en Provence

This gorgeous church is captivating for its beauty and charm. The baptistry is worth noting, as are the side chapels. You can feel the immense weight of the stone arches and columns. Definitely make the time to visit.

A cathedral hidden in the streets of Aix en Provence, but certainly full of beauty. Three naves with cross vaults, stained glass windows and huge chapels with very old and fine ornaments. Surely the altar makes a great impression together with the huge green organ.

Our regular church while we have been in Aix-en-Provence. Beautiful reasonably well restored Basilica. Masses are wonderful, especially Palm Sunday, Easter and Christmas. The archbishop is wonderful and children are warmly welcomed. Special events abound. Also, a visit to the cloister is a must. The community is warm and embracing. I highly recommend a visit for more than just the facility and the art.

This building shows its history. It's old with many additions. The cloister (free guided tours in French every half hour) are derailed a d very interesting.

A must-see in Provence for the lovely selection of wines, the delicious array of eateries, and, most of all, for the stunning art and architecture! Definitely off the beaten path, the raw concrete entrance and floating Louise Bourgeois sculpture set the tone for this unique, highly memorable vineyard. Then there are the restaurants: from a lovely cafe next to the gift shop all the way to the Michelin-starred restauarant, there's something for everyone. Highly recommended!

The whole experience is positive! The drive up, parking, entry, as well as the art dispersed throughout the woods, olive grove, and across the lawn are well-arranged and clean. The staff was exceptionally bright and kind. Terrace lunch cost 50euros without wine. Another building is under construction. We didn't care for all the art pieces, but we really enjoyed our visit. Will return as more develops.

Definitely worth a visit. A lot of permanent and contemporary installations, sculptures and other art in the park. 4-6 km walk in around 2-3 hours. Restaurants at several quality levels from bistro to Michelin.

Amazing place! Totally worth it. It's playful, the walk to see art pieces is really nice and you et more than 30 art pieces from the most renowned artists and architects in the world in one single location !

A walking architectural and art exhibit. Not some place I would normally go but I really enjoyed it! The exhibits are mostly outside and the walk is anywhere from 2-3 hours depending on what you want to see and how fast you walk. Be prepared with some water and make sure you hit the bathroom before you go. There are restaurants on the property and the service was great and the prices reasonable.

This place is beautiful and worth the stop! We drove a little out of the way and I am glad we did. The wine was delicious and the grounds were amazing to explore. They have multiple restaurants but we didn’t get food. Next time I will stop for wine and food.

In case you like contemporary art- this place has an incredible sculpture garden of some of the most interesting contemporary artists of our times. I only had one hour- so I made a quick visit to see about a third of it. I will surely come back to see the rest as well as enjoy one of the restaurants.

A unique masterpiece, must be seen! The unique architectural masterpieces, unique art works by Damien Hirst and many more to see, we loved the Chateau La Coste and it became our favourite place in all the Provence. ❤️

One of the most impressive museums that I’ve seen lately. The outside route takes approximately 2 hours, walking to each exhibition location through the domain’s vineyards and nature. Please note that the museums from inside close at 17:00, so I would advise you to do that first and then the outside route. The museum stuff didn’t tell us about that… we only found out about it when we arrived in front of the museum at 17:05 and it was too late to do it. For the museum stuff: please mention this when you hand over the maps and say that the route can take from 1 to 2 hours.

Amazing winery with outstanding service in French and English! Great selection of Rose and restaurants

Art and architecture tour; 2-2.5 hour walking tour. Really interesting to learn about the overall estate (including the hotel, vineyard etc.) in addition to the art and architecture. Some amazing pieces of art and sculpture with great variety. Interestingly, given the many pieces on the estate, most are hidden and not easily visible until you turn a corner and things become visible.

Exhibitions are so great even in 37 Celsius! Wine is precious and the coffee is overpriced but you can sit next to rich people and wonder how they became so rich or inherited such wealth.

What an incredible property. Has something for everyone, delicious wine and winery tours, extensive walking trails with dramatic art installations, and various delicious restaurants to choose from. You can definitely spend all day here. Staff was friendly and engaging. Looking forward to visiting again!

Beautifully situated, a unique collection of architecture and art. Allow plenty of time for a walk around the vast grounds of Château la Coste. We spent about 3.5 - 4 hours admiring the nature, art and architecture. I would recommend packing some food, snacks and drinks as there is nowhere to get food on the tour except for a really nice restaurant at the start and finish point, the Tadao Ando Art Centre.

I had an amazing experience at the winery near Marseille today. The 40-minute drive was absolutely worth it. The tasting room offered a fantastic selection of Rose and white wines, reasonably priced with the added option of smaller bottles. The ambiance was enhanced by modern art, and on-site restaurants provided delicious food with lovely service. Highly recommend checking out this charming place! This winery is not just a delight for adults but is also incredibly child-friendly. The ample on-site parking options make the visit convenient. If you fancy a stroll around the vineyard, feel free to explore the breathtaking scenery. A perfect spot for a family outing with something for everyone!

Quite nice for a wine tasting and a walk around the vineyard. We rented e-bikes from Aix which made the trip an exciting experience. But not recommended if you’re going to drink!

Outstanding in every way. The staff is one-hundred-percent accommodating. The location is absolutely beautiful. The pool is nice, the restaurant is excellent, the sculpture Park is worth more than a day of walking. The chateau is nearby many things you may want to do in the area.

Majestic looking place. Bring your tennis shoes if you plan to walk around. Amazing location with so many things to see. You need a full day to enjoy those Chateau La Coste and many restaurants to choose from. Electric car chargers big parking space for all other cars

Very helpful and spoke many languages. Just the tour train was a bit disappointing, could walk and see more attractive places than the tour took.

We got great advice about a quick bus ride out of town so we could hike and see the Mount St Victoire. They made it super clear and easy. We had a great day.

When you visit Aix-en-Provence, visit here first! The information and friendly welcome will make your visit that much better. We enjoyed touring all the more with the insights we got on attractions and history. It was a great way to get started on what turned out to be 3 visits to Aix during our week's stay in a nearby town. About the city itself. We were captivated. We visited from NYC during Christmas and loved the bright, simple ways Aix was decorated. The shops decorated tastefully and small - so refreshing vs the garish way we do it in the U.S. There's also a Christmas market which we enjoyed. Restaurants are in great variety and plentiful. Driving in/out and parking are very easy. And the rich history, churches, and architecture . . . wow!

I was a tourist visiting on a excursion from a cruise ship on the 25th October 2023 when myself my husband and another passenger got left behind by our tour guide in this city. We just happened to find ourselves near the tourism office and went looking for help and that is exactly what we got from a helpful employee named Ralph Ruiz ,he went above and beyond what could be expected for us ,we were 120kms from our ship and didn't speak the language and Ralph helped us get in touch with the ship and we did manage to get back to the ship in time before it sailed ! We all really appreciated all of Ralph's efforts . The Aix En Provence tourism office should be proud to have such a caring person like Ralph working for them. Thank you Ralph ! 😊👏🏻

A lot of helpful advice en anglais and I enjoyed the tour of the Luberon that I booked through the bureau. Rarely a line, lots of maps and patience from the employees.

Horrible experience We asked for information regarding Cezanne's Atelier and the staff told us that only a guided tour was only available, but in her own words "unfortunately it was in french" (ps. I live in France and we were talking to her in french the whole time). Arriving at the Atelier we found out that there was also a free tour available, which was (suprisingly) cheaper. We also asked her other information regarding the tours in Provence and she replied strictly what was asked in an uncoperative way. A person that works with public and for tourism should at least provide more information regarding the city's attractions as well as act in a more friendly and receptive way.

Definitely worth a visit, especially on a hot summer day. It is a fascinating place to see how history touched this small area. You are able to tour through the entire tile factory with plenty of information about France's role in the war. I particularly loved how blunt they were about the French government not helping. You will go through a well organised path and tour of the factory.

Also in a leisure trip to Provence is good to take time to learn more about the secondary world war. This space is well made and give you a deep look at the French influence on the deportations.

We took a guided tour, which I absolutely recommend and believe much better than just walking around. After seeing many other well-made museums of this sort (e.g. Auschwitz), I thought the quality of the museum and accessibility were not bad could be better. If you don't have a car, you can easily get there by bus 4 from Aix-en-Provence but be careful about the way back - the bus station for return is about 10 min away from the museum.

Great museum, especially since it's a former tile-factory. If you're looking for a half-day activity, and you are interested in World War II history, this is a must-visit. The museum tries to stimulate the visitor to reflect on what happened during WO2 and apply that to modern times. - There's a bus stop in front of the museum and a large parking lot as well - Museum is very rich in information, there's just so much to read and see - you're guided through the museum/factory with signs. - Audio guides are offered in French and English (€5 per person) - Information in the museum is written in French and English, except for films and audio pieces (just French) - If you'd read and go over everything, be prepared to spend around 3 hours here - Entrance is about €9.50 for adults - There are expositions at the end of the museum, that vary from time to time. - There's a vending machine with ice cold drinks and snacks at the end of the museum - Last but not least: on hot days, the museum is gonna be hot too -> there's no proper air conditioning in most parts of the factory.

A very thought provoking building. Very well set out, but too much writing for youngsters.

Okay, It made me cry as I felt horrified souls and there was death in the air but the staff are kind and they explain the history of the location. Here, if you look closer, as it used to be a containment building, there is few dry blood left on the floor. I deeply recommend but don't get very young kids there.. because it's traumatic (I'm a 9th grader or a "3ieme" I know what I say. Anyways I recommend 🥰 (also I visited it with the school last year and this year I will visit it again)

I’ve previously visited the Dachau concentration camp in Munich and I was expecting to see sth similar, but what I saw was only the inside of the building. There was no even the beds. I’m disappointed and I paid 11 for entry with the teacher reduction which is so expensive!! However, the lady at the reception was noce and helpful.

Poignant reminder of man’s inhumanity to man especially to those who do not fit in or conform. The camp has three significant periods: the first is the roundup and internment of potential enemy combatants, especially Germans and Austrians. The second is the roundup by the Vichy government of undesirables. The third is the roundup and deportation of the Jews. The museum does a very good job of presenting this difficult history but that being said, the museum needs to review the signage. One can easily lose one’s way. In addition, it is difficult to know where to find the “salle des peintures” where the murals are located. I highly recommend a visit. To properly visit you need 3 to 4 hours. It also may be too graphic for small children. People who think and believe the holocaust never occurred NEED TO VISIT.

Is a nice place to see his works, most of the infos are in French and the facilities need some upgrades ( ex, toilet ) consider the ticket price is quite expensive compared to other gallery/museum.

One of the worst art experiences I had in a while. Of all of the expositions just one has some information in English and when you buy a ticket no one informes you about it. Poorly produced exhibitions, many works are “temporarily gone” or demaged , dust and fingerprints on the actual wall art (??!!), the outside area works are in a terrible condition. Staff was pretty nice though, but forgot to include important information for non-French speaking tourists before I already spent 15€ to see this ;).

A fantastic place with working drawings and models up to monumental scale pieces. Loved to see the works are being carefully restored and reinstated.

An exceptional site for an exceptional artist. The collection reflects the artist's life and process. It's clean, quiet and spacious. The pieces of work are varied and impressive in real life. The architecture of the museum is fascinating too and meshes well with the artist's work.

I won't try to educate you about the importance of Vasarely's work. I will instead tell you that in the gift shop are some absolutely JAMMIN' scarves, posters and prints. Museums like this don't exist in America. You should go see this one if you are near Aix.

Great museum to enjoy art for those with a math or engineering bent. It isn't too big and us convenient to drive to.

One of the most impressive museums I‘ve ever seen. It was especially built to display the great art of Vasarely. I‘ve seen the Vaserly Museum in Budapest also, but this one is a whole new level. If you‘re into abstract art or op(tical) art and visit the Provence this is a must see.

Unless you are a Vasarely true believer, best to give this one a miss. Very little of his early work in design, advertising and illustration. A very large number of large works, 6 metre square, which were grandiose but added little that was new. At 13 euro, pretty expensive....and the coffee machine didn't work.

Fun museum. In and out within an hour. Kids enjoyed it too.

Big and impressive art pieces from Vasarely in a big and impressive building. If you love abstract and figurative design this is a must see. There is no good lunch facility so that is something that could be improved/added.

Very cool foundation. Glad I stopped by. The size of the works and the rooms where they are displayed are quite impressive.

From the online description, we were expecting to see a 17th century, 3 storey home, filled with furniture. What we saw were sparsely decorated rooms with only a few pieces of furniture and instead a quirky art exhibition. Only the ground and first floor could be accessed. There was a locked door to the top floor. The exhibition looked at interesting ways to portray the female organs as well as scars and reproduction. I thought the exhibition was tastefully executed and interesting, but not why I came here. The gardens are beautiful and well maintained. The entry price is only €4/person and is an interesting way to spend an hour.

Very beautiful place to hang out and relax - the garden is absolutely gorgeous and the exterior of the palace is as well. I’d suggest to skip the visit of the interior because it kinda ruined the image of the place. Such a pretty place to hang out in aix en provence, when we went it was still summer and there were a few people hanging out, I'm not sure if it's open the whole year but the garden was really beautiful.
